Frosta's right there, if anyone needs protection, I would think it's the kid. Why the autistic grown woman? Again, she's 30, she's older than all of you. SPOP princesses is the disney princess people often talk shit about how they are annoying selfish etc. If entrapta with disney princesses SHE WILL BE TREATED WITH MUCH MORE RESPECT. Are they perfect? No but they won't mistreat her. They actually listen to her hyperfixation toward technology

ALL OF THIS. You can call them all unidimensional you want, but characters like Cinderella and Aurora are very kind, and they would treat Entrapta with the respect she deserves.

i absolutely do. i think anyone with at least half a brain cell could watch those episodes and realize how shitty is it to put a grown woman on a leash just because she kept getting distracted. none of the other characters get treated this way, it's really disgusting and dehumanizing. literally the main villain of the show treated entrapta better than any of her "friends".

you do not treat people like this, you don't drag them around on a leash like an animal. also the way the princesses kept getting mad at her even though she was trying to help? i understand them being angry in s5, after entrapta joined the horde. but even in s1, entrapta was just kept around because she was useful. no other reason. mermista complains about all the missions they go in and barely cooperates, but she never gets blamed for it. entrapta tries to help out the princesses in her own way and suddenly she's the biggest nuisance.

and when she rightfully got depressed because no one wanted to be her friend, bow just tells her to "be a better friend". very helpful. as an autistic person myself, i can't count the number of times i've heard this. it does not help because half the time, neurotypical people just don't take the time to understand us as individuals.

and the show never addresses any of this as being wrong, but instead just ties it into a little bow by having mermista be slightly nice to entrapta in the end. that's it. she gets no apologies, they don't acknowledge that they treated her badly, nothing.

idk what the creators were on to think that this was an okay thing to do. i would rather have no representation than this.

One thing I have to admit about SPOP is that it just seemed like the other princesses disliked Entrapta for “being annoying” than the things she actually did harmful, which is dumb af tbh?

You have countless characters in the series who has done arguably worse than Entrapta has ever done, not to mention that the princesses aren’t prefect peaches themselves, but Entrapta acting out on her neurodivergent traits is where we cross the line? And the show had the absolute GALL to frame the majority of the princesses problems with Entrapta as Entrapta’s fault ENTIRELY? Like she’s the one who has to apologize and ONLY her?

This is what people were talking about as far as the show’s morality, bias and the acknowledgement of only the things that Itself wants to acknowledge. It’s not the fact that Entrapta is being held accountable for her bad actions as far as aiding the horde, it’s the fact that the princesses only seem to like and care about Entrapta when she can offer something useful in return. Other than that, screw her I guess 😂 She’s the creepy and annoying scientist who makes us uncomfortable, no wonder she’s alone right? 🤪

They just sprinkle nice moments between them here and there to make it appear that they care for her as much as the creators say that they do 😊

What's your opinion on Entrapta and Entrapdak ? I personally think she deserves better tbh 😔

i don't think entrapdak works. but i'll get into that in a minute.

as for entrapta, she definitely deserved better. more so than just in writing in general, but as well just how she was treated as an autistic individual.

for starters, i want to comment on her design. she does not look like the age she's apparently supposed to be ( according to nate, entrapta is in her late 20s, early 30s ). a lot of people who have discovered this have commented something to the extent of:

"she's 30?! i thought she was 16-18!"

now, if i didn't know her age or personality, i'd assume she was 19-20. but considering that i do know her personality, i'm not surprised that people thought she was younger. her big pigtails, being short, and the top side of her overalls being out of place all are designed in a way that makes her look younger.

the reason why this is an issue is because, with her design and personality, this is infantilizing. especially because every other adult character looks their age, or at least has obvious implications of looking older ( such as wrinkles under their eyes, wearing makeup, etc. ). entrapta does not.

throughout the entire show, entrapta is extremely oblivious, forgetful, honestly rather careless, and generally is treated more like a robotic nuisance rather than a human being that deserves support and care.

she's practically ostracized by the other princesses, is pulled by them, is leashed by them, talked down to by them, etc. she is not actually treated as someone who is wanted, but rather only someone who might be needed.

i personally feel like nate made entrapta 30-smth yrs old, so entrapdak would be less weird. i could talk about how hordak is essentially a bum instead of a Big Bad, like he's supposed to be, but that's for another day.

the primary issue i have with entrapdak is that it paints entrapta in a really bad light, more than people might think.

many people seem to label entrapta as morally grey/chaotic neutral ( i'm p sure you can look up the spop wiki and see that ), but i strongly disagree with this label, due to how it is written and how it further pushes a bigoted idea of autistic people.

and no, entrapta being written by an autistic person ( tbh, i highly doubt that ) does not mean she's suddenly even decent autistic rep.

entrapta is perceived as "morally grey" purely because of her low empathy. they use it to demonize and infantilize her, instead of respecting it as a part of her identity.

having low empathy does not make anyone a bad person, or even a morally grey person. donnie, from ROTTMNT, has low empathy, but you can tell he deeply loves his family and tries his best to keep people safe.

entrapta's low empathy is represented as her not caring about the lives at stake, only caring about people unless it involves technology, or only doing things because of technology, and is generally either treated like a lost child or like she's a demon.

SPOP's portrayal of autism and low empathy in quite a few autistic people is harmful and gives the same message that neurodivergent in general have been given for years:

"something is wrong with you."

her being involved with hordak, a literal imperialist, someone who does not care for anyone ( except for entrapta, i guess? ), and is willing to sacrifice anything and anyone for the sake of his goals, in any other way but in an antagonistic dynamic is, at best, offensive and stereotypical, and at worst, dangerous.

if you are not autistic, and you want to write autistic people, you need to do it with respect. genuine respect.

you cannot treat autistic people as if they don't know what they're doing.

you cannot treat autistic people as if they don't care about anyone but themselves.

you cannot treat autistic people as if something is wrong with them.

you cannot treat autistic people as if they have to change to be accepted by anybody.

we are not your props for representation. we are people.

all in all, if you want to write autistic characters, do not do what the SPOP writers did. just don't.

Ngl, I fucking HATE ND’s Perfuma. She’s annoying, ableist, whiny, always finding something to whine about, two dimensional, ableist, contributes nothing, static throughout the series. Oh, and did I mention ableist?

I know she was literally only in the one episode of the OG, with a few cameos. But that episode is everything, and is a million times better than all of her appearances in ND’s dumpster fire. She was frilly and girly, and not shamed for it. She was kind and sweet to everyone, no matter what. She was chill af, and genuinely liked making friends, a bit spacey, but by no means meant to be seen as dumb. Also, looking at her character retroactively, with all the profiles, characterization through the 80s media (comics/radio/books/toys) including the one episode, I’m pretty sure she’s on the spectrum.

Girl doesn’t seem very aware socially, is too comfortable with people she doesn’t know that well, special interest is flowers and scents (we stan a cottagecore chemist), and is a bit spacey (like she’s a bit ditzy, but I don’t think she’s stupid). So idk, I feel like it’s a possibility. (I’m autistic, so all of these examples are from experience).

So while it pisses me off to no end that on top of being a shit character, she’s ableist. And to piss me off even MORE, I wholeheartedly believe OG Perfuma and ND Entrapta would get along so well, and not just because of their shared neurodivergency. I think they’d just vibe.

Yeah, the remake really knew how to destroy every character, I actually really like Perfuma in her premiere episode but then hated her as soon as she thought it was a good idea to put a 30 year old austic woman on a leash!

We know that Lonnie and Catra were in the Horde already when they were six.

We know that Kyle and Rogelio are in the Horde when they’re young teens.

tumblr keeps recommending me c//a and pro Catra posts, it's both entertaining and irritating. anyway, i'd like to know your thoughts on this post!

personally, i feel like c//a stans misunderstand our point. we keep saying that Catra does deserve a redemption but she doesn't deserve forgiveness, or at least, instantaneous forgiveness when she has put no effort into trying to change. but they take it as "CATRA IS AN IRREDEEMABLE MONSTER WHO DESERVES TO ROT IN HELL" (which, ironically, is what they say about characters like shadow weaver).

also Adora "wanted" Catra in the finale season because that's how the authors wrote her. it made no sense for her character to suddenly want Catra back after it took her so long to finally cut Catra out of her life.

Do not go after the person who wrote the original post. (this is mostly for my other followers)

Tumblr has been doing the same thing to me, too. It showed me a post that said that as similar as Catra was to Shadow Weaver, she improved to be better. Which is a lie, lmao.

I hate that people think redemption and forgiveness are the same thing. You are allowed to improve as an individual, but the people you hurt don't owe you forgiveness. Sadly, SPOP doesn't have a single character that chooses not to forgive Catra. Even though Frosta punched her in the face, she was more accepting of Catra than Entrapta. Same counts for Perfuma and the other princesses. Though I'm pretty sure anyone would be demonized for not believing that "Catra got better!!!". S5 already does this when Adora vents about Catra being a stubborn brat, she just looks pathetic and Glimmer doesn't take her seriously.

And indeed, most stans think characters like Shadow Weaver or Hordak are not allowed to be redeemed, that's really because they're older and physically disabled.

Finally, yeah, Adora in s4 completely gave up on Catra, she didn't hesitate to nearly kill her without any remorse. Adora's priority was her friends, but especially Glimmer. "I want to be the hero she deserves". But you never see C//A stans talking about that, lol. They only bring up Glimmer and Adora's conflict or Glimmadora at all so they can shit on Glimmer and prove that Catra is a better girlfriend. Which is also bullshit.

Adora is allowed to want things, yes, but s5 pretty much sums it up as her wanting Catra of all people. Not her friends, not a family, or knowing more about her origins, idk. Just Catra. It's literally always about her. Adora is not a character that exists outside of Catra anymore. S5 definitely reinforced this, and the fandom only repeats this. It's annoying.
