Michael Craze pops up as Vince Kelly, a teenage runaway from a borstal centre, in Gideon's Way: Boy With Gun (1.23, ITC, 1966)

#fave spotting #michael craze #ben jackson #doctor who #gideon's way #1966 #boy with gun #itc #a relatively rare fave spotting! outside of his DW work‚ Mike didn't make a huge amount of appearances in cult tv‚ at least not many that #survive or are easily seen; he'd previously starred in Target Luna‚ a completely lost serial‚ but didn't return when the show carried on as #Pathfinders in Space (oddly‚ perhaps because of a change of director‚ every single returning character was recast) and beyond #there were also episodes of Dixon pf Dock Green and Armchair Theatre but these are also in all likelihood lost tv; others‚ like an ep of #Hammer's sci fi anthology Journey to the Unknown‚ are frustratingly unavailable to the average viewer (I was really hoping Network would #do something with JttU after they announced an agreement with Hammer but alas it wasn't to be)#mike would have been about 22 when filming this ep (around May '65) but was still largely playing juvenile parts as here #(his age isn't given but as a borstal runaway he's clearly intended to be a teen); this aired in feb or march '66 in most regions‚ by which #time he had presumably been cast in DW (or very near to it; he'd debut in The War Machines in June of that year)#DW would act as a sort of transition for Craze from youth parts into adult roles (i mean Ben's own age is debatable but I'd say he's surely #meant to be at least 18?). there'd be some more guest spots and a few horror films to come (he was a regular collaborator with Norman #J. Warren) but he doesn't pop up with the regularity of many other Who companions so this was a lovely little surprise (zero memory of him #being in it from when i first watched years ago)

seen both episodes of horizons now and holy fuck

#i was so used to being bored w jn tbh but this series already has me really hooked???#liko is a really well realized character and no scene feels wasted everything feels carefully set up #the tone is also so good like liko and am’s silent conversation when he finds her hiding on the ship???????#it was SO good and i like what theyre setting up with the new pokemon and i love the airship setting #i was nervous when eve told me it was another ‘’travel the world hub’’ deal but unlike jn #theres like an even spread of pokemon from other regions #and not only that but pokemon that havent gotten too much love in general like alolan muk snorunt and carkoal #speaking of which THIS WAS CARKOALS FIRST APPEARANCE???#its also still being good w all of the starters too like so far fuecoco’s been the latest to show up #and it still has adequate screentime and personality to it #literally the only thing im hmmm abt is more charizard favoritism but like. i can forgive it with how even everything is #and i love that pikachu is their boss AND IT HAS VOLT TACKLE. BABYGIRL I MISSED YOU #what i was also worried abt was that theyd try to make it as close to ash and pikachus journey as possible #like same dynamic same setup same pikachu character (not really but same personality)#but no!! its all totally shaken up and the stuff that DOES evoke the original is still clever #and stands on its own!! like oh my god i cannot say enough how pleasantly surprised i am with horizons #i wasn’t pessimistic but i was like ‘’ill like it bc its pokemon regardless but wont be going crazy over it’’#but im like. SO anxious for the next episode now bc SPRIG :(#but like oh my god it all stands out. the character design the characters themselves the pokemon the animation the artstyle the music #the story the tone the setup like EVERYTHING is so good here #echoed voice

As a childhood watcher of the OG pokemon series, my silence can no longer be maintained. Please allow me to unveil some of the canon pokemon facts that the pokemon series and fandom have UNJUSTLY HIDDEN:

1) Ditto can make perfect transformations of any pokemon! The ONLY ditto who had the dotted eyes problem was in season 1, and he learned how by the end of the episode. WE DONT NEED TO GIVE EVERY TRANSFORMED DITTO CREEPY FACES GUYS COME ON

2) Meowth is the ONLY MEOWTH TO STAND ON TWO LEGS!!! They have a whole origin story about it where he taught himself to walk upright and talk like a human to try and win a regular quadrapedal female meowth’s heart. She just ended up calling him a freak sadly. So not only is giving every meowth bipedal locomotion depriving us of cute regular-kitty meowth, it has stolen the significance of meowth’s achievement! JUSTICE I SAY!

(NOTE: I cant speak for Alolan meowth, maybe they really are just like that. But I stand by the show canon’s because four-legged meowth is cute and only Team Rocket meowth should be the goofy humanoid meowth, the ‘mon EARNED IT

Breaking news a few months ago #i just wanna know how. and dont wanna get spoiled either #man i liked alola but this series is so much better #i just love how he's revisiting old regions. the old nods to old episodes and characters #God. It's just so good #makes me wanna watch indigo league all over again #and black/white and x/y #was really nice to see iris again tho
