#ITS SUCH AN INTERRSTING LANGUAGE TOO the number of other languahe influences is crazy #i wld LOVEEE to know more abt hlhow the grammer and vocab is effected bt them #it more or less uses english as a base #but words like me/my/I/etc. are all simplified to “mi” (I THINK) rather than having multiple versions #would be interested if thats how west african languages work or if thats jusy a product of it being a creole #the participles are so interesting too #the function to cobjugate verbs but work entirly differently than that of english #i wonder again if thats an infkuence of west african languages #then there are paticiples like “fi” which have a TON of different uses where english ones tend to only have one #it expresses posession or obligation. it can be used as “for” in some cases. so cool #I mentioned this with “mi” but often the pronouns dont have much change between like. position #i forgot the word. I mean like “He” and “Him” are the same word (im) #“they” “them” and “their” are all the same too (dem) #theres also a plural you which I always enjoy #it has a lot of notabke similarities to spanish esp. jn the different “to be” verbs #which is cool bcs I wld usually thnk it wld be omitted from a pidgin and creole #it does have spanisha and portuguese jnfkuence but considering its mainly english and west african languages it makes me wonder if #WA languages also have that equative abd locative “to be” verb

...maybe I'm just really picky about story finales, but am I the only one who thought that the last episode of true detective (season 1) felt like a totally different show? Everything from the pacing to the sounds and camera work had a very different flavor from the rest of the series.

not really. there already are some twice members that are well known on the variety circuit and one of them did literally just launch a very successful solo, so they're already ahead of that and they have been for a while. but also the other members that are less popular are probably not going to be able to branch out at all, but that's just the reality of the industry. tbh it's not really a comparable situation because the contexts are too different. bts is tied to their group identity because they made that their brand intentionally and heavily courted an intl audience without paying the dues back home, so to speak. twice has a massive domestic audience and are likely just to age like any other popular gg, with some members that will be more popular in different fields than others. some will have successful solo careers and some won't, them's the breaks.

#i know ppl tend to group the big number sellers together bc theyre 'popular' but there is a literal WORLD of difference between these two #tbh we covered this kind of when we were having that initial k variety conversation so i'm not going to get into it again #but yea there's more talk about the different type of popularity that bts has in that tag and i think twice members do get brought up #kpop questions #twice w #also i think what this question doesn't really encompass is that being tied to the group name is good #like ALL the shinee members still introduce themselves as 'shinee's (x)' #the group name esp when the group is popular has power. why would they want to totally buck it? #its a different story with bts bc its very clear that none of them are happy with the group broadly. #none of the twice girls will probably ever admit that in their lifetimes if any of them feel that way #and if/when more of them do go solo and go a direction different that twice than the contrast is part of the draw #that's exactly what sm did with taemin #nana and i have been having a very extended conversation about how solo careers often intertwined with group success (or lack of success) #esp in regards to wanna one and x1 and all the offshoots from those #bc both types of careers bounce off each other and have different types of popularity #anyways. long and rambly in the tags again #text #answers
