Frieren: Beyond Journey's End Episode 22 Review - Intermission

The end of the first day exam means it’s an intermission episode. Frieren, Fern and Stark are reunited and have some fun together…and by fun, that means appeasing Fern’s bad mood by eating food. Yeah, they spend their break eating at a restaurant Frieren once ate at with her old party eighty years ago.

Not only does Frieren’s party have fun with their leisure time, the other exam participants have their fun too. It seems that friendships have been formed after the first exam with Denken’s team forming an unlikely friendship; I find the grandfather-granddaughter relationship between Denken and Laufen adorable. Richter seems like a chill guy when he’s off mage duty as he runs a magic tool repair shop. Despite Richter’s protests on not wanting to spend time with Denken, he does so. He even takes him to the restaurant that Denken really wanted to go to. I do like that Denken’s so chill and wise. He tells Richter that being a mage means being willing to mingle with others without regrets. When they saw Frieden’s group in the restaurant, he said to leave them alone to enjoy their meal. He’s so cool. I want to know more about him.

Ubel and Land develops an odd friendship too with Ubel seemingly being intrigued by Land but he could care less about her. It seems that Ubel’s magic is to be able to copy another person’s magic as she was able to copy Wirbel’s Sorganeil to bind Land. Ubel’s thought process is very unique as she thinks about murder and violence, but knows when to hold back because of empathy. I do feel like Ubel likes him. They’re constantly seen together in this episode, so who knows if the writers will push this ship. I find it quite intriguing.

Kanne and Lawine are still their usual self, but seeing the latter all dolled up was a nice sight to behold. Lawine has three older brothers who spoil her rotten. Seeing her mom join in on dressing her up felt like seeing my mom wanting to dress me up in nice feminine clothes. If you listen carefully, the music used during the rather romantic moment between the two ladies is the music played when Stark and Fern danced together in Episode 15. I chuckled when the music cut off just as the music was about to get to the highlight as Lawine pulls Kanne’s pigtails as always. I ship them as much as I ship Stark and Fern and Frieren and Himmel. Kanne even did the kneeling thing that Stark and Himmel did. Other than that, it was nice to see them hanging out with Frieren and Fern. They don’t have to be enemies in this moment of peace. They’re grateful towards Frieren for helping them pass and it’s nice to see Frieren reminisce about how helping someone can impact them, even if it’s just small gestures.

Wirbel and Scharf seem to be close friends. What’s even funnier is that they develop an odd friendship…with Stark of all people. While Stark was a bit uncomfortable being surrounded by girls, Wirbel came in at the right moment to take him away. It did look like he was hitting on him. I do wonder if Fern will have to worry about her potential love rivals as she’s gonna have to fend off both male and female suitors for Stark in the future. Stark does attract male attention, surprisingly.

The scenes with the hero’s party was nice! Seeing Frieren reminisce about the food she ate from the past and how kind actions can be instilled in people’s memories so that no one would be forgotten. I just feel like Frieren is learning more about people and it’s so nice to see.

The second day exam will start next episode and it’ll be proctored by Sense. She is notorious for not letting anyone pass the exams she proctored in the past four years. I do wonder what will happen this time around. Will she let people pass this time around? I can’t wait to see what the second exam has to offer. Which interactions were your favorite?

GT was pretty bad, but it wasn’t absolutely horrible, so I’ll give it that much. I just think that I should rewrite it…

Goku doesn’t get turned into a kid, because that storyline messed with me a little. But he does go and tell Bulma that they have a year before the Black Star Dragon Balls destroy the planet.

Maybe Pan still boards the ship, but what if Goku doesn’t have time to get on board before they blast off? Goten (since GT was supposed to stand for Goten and Trunks) actually gets to go in this version, and is on the ladder leading up to the entryway just as Pan presses “blast off”. He scrambles up into the ship and both he and Trunks scold Pan for not listening to her parents.

And since I’M rewriting this, I want to include Truten because I love my gay Sayain boys. So in my head, and like I’ve said a few times before on this blog, I think they get together in their teens, and in GT, they’re in their early twenties. So they’re already together, but I don’t think they’re married quite yet.

Pan is always acting like she doesn’t know them, because since her parents aren’t there to embarrass her, Trunks and Goten take it upon themselves to do so.

Some of the episodes would be different because they don’t make sense, but the one(s) I’m really looking forward to are the ones with that big blue whisker guy that can predict when an earthquake hits. I can’t remember his name rn but I’ll get there.

Anyway, those episodes have to be my favorite ones just because of the “you have to dress up like a bride and pretend to marry him so she doesn’t have to! Also because she has the Dragon Ball and we need it”. I found that hilarious. And Goten being there to witness Trunks having to do that I feel would make it even better.

“Aw, maybe you should wear that at our wedding.”

“Piss off, Goten.”

Maybe it makes more sense if Goten did it but I still think it would be funnier if it were Trunks.

Jock is now my new favorite total drama ship. So I humbly request for headcanons, if possible? (I’m totally so normal about them)

Hmm here are a few off the top of my head

- Jo would 100% be the breadwinner since I always imagined her becoming some kind of professional athlete (as well as the gym she wants to open). Brick works in the fashion industry as well.

- I can see them having kids in the future but not because they want to experience the joys of parenting or whatever, but because they need to compete to see who would be the better parent.

- literally everything is a competition between them. I reject the rivals to lovers label because they are rivals AND lovers. Jo still beats him at everything tho but it’s the thought that counts.

- like I’ve said before, they’re the same height (I’d say 6ft) but there’s that .1 centimeter difference that isn’t even noticeable. Either Jo hates it or she berates brick for it all the time, I can’t decide which is funnier

- they’d have pretty compatible lifestyles tbh, they both like exercise and getting up early. But Brick’s annoying alarm clock def gets on her nerves

- about Brick’s fear of the dark: I always imagined he sleeps with a nightlight. Their first night of living together, it drives Jo insane, they argue about it for a while, eventually Jo unplugs it and they just cuddle so Brick can get over his fear. It does annoy Jo a little but at least she can sleep in peace

- I think a lot of people forget that Jo does want to be spoiled and treated nicely, (her confessional when talking about Lightning: “to the boss go the spoils, and I’m the boss. Ergo, he should be spoiling me”) and Brick is, described by Jo, a gentleman. Works out nicely.

- this was something for a fanfic I have in my drafts: who proposed? The answer is both of them. They had a competition to see who could make the best proposal. It ends in a tie because they love each other too much.

Eldershadow: ooooh my favorite. The way sm yelled “NO!!” when he assumed Elder faerie died of old age made me rise an eyebrow. Also I think he sometimes kisses the cutout he made of him

Nope. Not even a lil. I know outside of Kenstewy it’s pretty popular but idk. They would NOT work. Shivstewy is a more fun hypothetically pairing cuz they’re both such catty cunts and I want to see them be a well oiled stabbing murder machine together. And Kenstewy is my favourite yaoi yuri straight all in one couple. I just think roman and Stewy aren’t suited for each other But also I don’t even think they’d be dysfunctional in a fun way like Tom and Stewy is a funnier weird messed up couple. Thoughts on WN S2

Heavy spoilers, as I have no self control and ended up just clicking ‘next’ until I ended up finishing the whole thing.

A SUPER long post below the cut

So, I can’t tell if it’s the extreme fatigue that I’m experiencing due to lack of sleep (which I’m sure plays a part in it) but I have mixed feelings on season 2. I’ll just ramble some points off

Avatrice

I will get straight to it, I thought it was pretty great content, they really fed us this season. Straight off the bat, they knew who was the main ship and they really leaned into it for S2 and we were rewarded with so many good scenes. From the build up of jealousy (not just from Bea, but also bits from Ava), to the fact that they shared so much screen time together (probably moreso together than apart), it really was a bonanza of Avatrice in literally almost every episode.

Bea not getting drunk before and Ava like “oh hell yes, lets get you effed up! shots shots shots!” was pretty fun, but it was even funnier how Beatrice didn’t even seem that drunk after the whole bar scene ended. Like, girl, if you never drink more than a couple sips of wine, how did you not get at least a little sick or dizzy after all those shots and then proceeded to kick butt like nothing happened?

but also, that bar scene!!

and also oh my god, they were roommates.

When did Ava learn to bartend? (random thought)

So, so many moments between these two. Ava falling and hitting the floor and Beatrice cradling her in her arms, it was almost like true love brought her back (lol) but eh, it’s the halo. They’re unstoppable together!

Beatrice constantly worried for Ava’s training and battle-readiness, because Warrior Nuns don’t get to live long lives and this thought probably weighs heavy on her mind constantly.

Beatrice really struggling with her own convictions for the first time and telling Ava to run and hide so that she can just be safe, because Bea would rather be apart than see Ava fall in battle. It’s about keeping the halo safe, yes, but it’s moreso about keeping Ava safe.

Camila having her talk with Beatrice about being terrible at lying. Lol, Camila knows, she’s always known.

We got a kiss!!

Their goodbyes by the portal was so sad, and they both got to say I love you, but Ava didn’t hear it back. Ava is now floating for who knows how many years in the beyond, not having actually heard Beatrice return her words. And yeah I know, she already knows how Bea feels since they kissed, but still, that hurts.

Action scenes were awesome. I really enjoyed the choreography for the fights, and the episodes that had those extended shots felt very dynamic and exciting. There was also a lot more gore and dismemberment this season (or at least it feels that way) and I don’t remember S1 being like that, but honestly I like the level of violence in this season, as the stakes felt higher and tone of the show overall darker and more urgent.

Back to the tone, I like how this season felt darker and more sinister. The fear in the cemetery legitimately scared me for a sec when Michael’s face changed. I was not expecting that. and then Camila’s hallucinations with Adriel felt very unnerving. And the uncertainty of not knowing who was siding with Adriel created a truly anxious atmosphere. Great stuff.

Sweet, sweet Camila going from rookie to coming into her own. I was worried for a bit that Adriel would capitalize on her insecurity of constantly being the young one, but she fought back and weaponized it against him, which was awesome. Her transforming into somewhat of a mentor to Yasmine was also great to see. Plus I mean c’mon, Camila with a gun? Camila with a wrist-mounted crossbow? Sign me up!

Mother Superion! We got more backstory! We got that psyche out (honestly if she didn’t make it, I was going to riot). I’m glad she got that moment with the halo bringing her back after enduring so much burden and regret over her past actions. She also had some super badass fight scenes and overall Sylvia De Fanti’s acting was very standout for me.

Now here begins my rant

Now, I will say, the one thing that really, really bothered me was how they handled Shotgun Mary, and this particular point really left a sour taste in my mouth to the point that I almost didn’t even enjoy the Avatrice payoff at the end.

If she really is truly gone, they glossed over her death so POORLY. If that was the direction they were going to take, I would rather they have ended S1 with her heroically sacrificing herself and the sisters teleporting away so that we didn’t have to wait 2 FREAKING YEARS just to have a brief scene saying she’s gone?!? It was like dangling her fate in front of us and it was so cruel, with them knowing she was not returning for S2.

And like, the reactions of the sisters upon learning her downfall, the scenes were emotional, and heart wrenching, but then the next episode it was like NOTHING EVEN HAPPENED??? Ava was cracking jokes about going SIGHTSEEING??? Like, wtf??? I thought it would have had more impact, but all we got really was a line from Mother Superion about how they don’t have time to mourn the fallen??? It just, the handling of all that really rubbed me the wrong way.

and then the random introduction of Sister Dora at the end? Like they basically just replaced Shotgun Mary with another POC as if to say “oh it’s fine, here’s filling the quota with another person”. I don’t know. I just, it felt so tone deaf?? to me.

And then Lilith, I understand that her character in the comics (granted, I did not read very far) is not meant to necessarily be a hero, but just her going from hunting down Father Vincent, distraught over Mary, to then going to Adriel’s side? The side of the guy WHO WAS THE REASON MARY DIED? And to justify this decision, I get that Lilith is a complex character dealing with the expectations of her mom and not becoming the halo-bearer, but like, that scene with her mom was so brief, and I felt like it wasn’t new information that her parents were overbearing. It just felt like a throwaway scene to explain why Lilith would end up siding with Adriel. (also that kiss? I saw it coming a mile away and it still made me want to throw my phone). Lilith in general is one of my favorite characters, and for her to flip flop and end up siding with the enemy feels like a step back from where her trajectory was going in season 1 after she returned.

And then Adriel’s death???? DEATH BY TARASK STABBING? He was so powerful and yet he got surrounded by a handful of tarasks and couldn’t teleport away or something? Why didn’t Ava do this earlier? Did Reya give her the idea? Even if she didn’t, why try exploding the divinium bomb first before just summoning the tarasks?? I have so many questions, his death just felt so... undeserved.

Also how did the portal stay open after the cross was destroyed?

If Reya had been chasing the damn halo for CENTURIES, if it was right there in front of her, why did she let Ava keep it? The tarasks have been hunting that shit for forever, and Reya just... let her have it? maybe this plays a part in the future seasons, but like, right now it looked like a “thank you for saving me and destroying Adriel, you can keep it” kind of gesture, which is super wild to me.

WHEW.

Anyways, that was a lot more than I intended, but I just had a hard time sleeping because there were so many thoughts running through my head.

I want to like this season, and in many ways I did (the Avatrice content yo!!) but like, it just felt like there was a cloud hanging over it the whole time for me so I’m conflicted.

But on that note, what is your opinion on how the boys should affect one another?

A popular opinion on the more grittier/mature side of the Fandom is that the rrb should think less of one another as brothers because they're evil. It never makes sense to me though since the boys are still together as a trio. In some fics they're even all each of them has before meeting the girls again.

I always figured the trope exists because it's edgy and some people want to emphasize that the boys like the girls so much it surpasses their brotherly bond.

In certain scenarios, I can get it. Hopeless romance fills the void that is my shipping heart. I really want the ppg and rrb to be so in love nothing could break that, even if they broke up, I love the thought of them being so in love and distraught. In the same breath, it always causes post realization 😶 after the climax I feel a little... judgemental about their whole relationship.

I’m so glad you thought it was funny because before I posted I was like ah shit will they think I’m making fun of them??? and then I was like pfft no this is Bee lmao

Anyway, this is such a fun ask!!

I know I’ve talked about it before, but I’m the oldest of three with two younger brothers. A lot of my inspiration for the rrb, I draw straight from my own relationships with my brothers. We’re a tight-knit group, even if my youngest brother insists he’s a lone wolf 🙄🙄

Obviously, every sibling group is going to be different, and people only write what they know, so I tend to make the boys close no matter what because of my own relationships. But given the show's canon, which highlights the importance of love and family, I think that's how both sets of triplets would be anyway, and not this weird, grittier version you see in most fics. So, nah, I don’t subscribe to the “we’re evil, so we can’t love each other or have anything in common” mindset I see with rrb characterizations. Like you said, it wouldn't make sense for three people who practically hate or disrespect each other to be a trio.

Plus, it’s so much funnier and exciting to write a family that’s evil together (that's also why I love the Smith Family so much). Most "evil" characters in folktales were just marginalized people irl who came together because the rest of society kicked them to the curb. Why can't that be how it is for Mojo and the boys? I definitely think the boys should have a bond, and I think that bond should affect their decisions!

Of course, it doesn't have to be a healthy bond. I think it would make complete sense if these three boys were toxically co-dependent on each other, which would fit in with the gritty and mature themes you described in the ask just as well as this weird apathy (? aloofness?). I'd also argue you can do the same with healthy bonds, too, especially if you throw romance into the mix.

Like, for example, my brother, Shane, is in a long-term relationship with his girlfriend and moved a state away to be with her. Despite his gf being a lovely person, Log (my other brother) and I were still salty about it. Because Shane is the one who inspires my Boomer, it would be fun to write a story where Brick and Butch just don’t like whoever Boomer end's up with, not because they’re apathetic towards Boomer and his love interest but because they’re afraid he’ll leave them (this is the familial conflict part). But because they love Boomer, they have the incentive to get over themselves and accept this new person into their lives, maybe even for the better (this is the character growth part).

Also, I think romantic love can't surpass brotherly love because you're dealing with two different types of love. When I say this, I'm afraid people think I believe siblings automatically love each other, which isn't what I believe. Sibling relationships are still relationships that you have to work at, so when I say "brotherly love," I'm literally referring to the people who chose to love their siblings because they love them, not because they feel they have to love them, though that does make for an interesting story (which could fit into those gritty themes once again).

But I'm digressing! When I say romantic love and brotherly love are two different types of love I mean, for example, using the blues, Boomer isn't getting the same social fulfillment from Bubbles that he would get from his brothers, so there's no reason for Boomer to ditch them over Bubbles. Of course, that could be part of the conflict. He could ditch them for her, but the plotline shouldn't just end there! It needs to be resolved, either by making amends, or breaking up the brother relationships for good (because even siblings can "break up"), or something frustrating and ambiguous, but you can't ignore it.

So, if the fic you're reading pairs the blues together and Boomer is no longer getting any social fulfillment from his brothers, either that should be a significant plot point used to create a conflict OR it's just bad characterization.

Unfortunately, many romance fics aren't good because the characters aren't well-rounded. Even if the plot revolves around an obsession with another person, you still have to show how the obsession destroys (or "surpasses") other well-rounded relationships. You're probably judgemental about the relationships in some of these fics because after the climax, after one of the boys "gets" one of the girls, what else is left? That's it. They're together. End of story. Either they get married, or they break up.

That's why the climax in a good obsession story isn't the character getting their obsession; it's when they lose it. SO like, buttercup and blossom stealing bubbles back, or butch/brick killing her, or bubbles killing boomer (the list of ideas can go on).

If that's not the type of story you want to write, you must give your characters other relationships and goals. And if it's done correctly, your ships are better for it!! Just like irl you need hobbies outside of your partner.

So yep, that's the long and rambly answer, haha, but the short answer boils down to characterization! It's my opinion that the rrb should affect one another, but how is up to the story you write! It can be unhealthy or healthy, but I really don't think they'd ignore each other. And if they openly disrespected each other, like I've seen in a few fics, I think they'd punch each other out.

On the flip side, i don't think they would be super lovey-dovey bros for lyfe kind of people. haha there's the gritty stuff you were talking about, but my other pet peeve is the stories that make brick into a dad and butch/boomer his bumbling, idiotic sons. that's too much brother love for me lmao

There’s this discourse going around about how many BL couples are “breaking up”/stopped working together in the last two years or so because they either moved on or never liked each other in the first place. I was like “Not OffGun stay safe though.” They didn’t like that lmao. And it turned into the meme where the guy is asking the audience why they’re booing because he’s right. Nothing beats an actual friendship and Off and Gun liking each other (as friends) though… I will be sad when it’s official they won’t be working in BLs anymore because they’re “too old” WHATEVER THAT MEANS but at least they don’t secretly hate each other.

LMAOOOOOOO, you kill me anon, slay tbh :'))) tbh, that's why I've never been able to care about any other ship than offgun? apart from drakefrank but we all know where that led us lol 🥲 but in general, I've always been able to tell when things are fanservice & when they're not. in fact, there's nothing funnier to me when supposed "friends" only start taking pda pictures, etc. once they become a ship. it's all so manufactured & over the top... while also never confirming an actual relationship, and I find this so exploitative & toxic. but for offgun, it feels real bc on top of being told it was real, we've been shown times and times again. at the beginning of the ship, they barely took part in fanservice, and when they did it genuinely looked so awkward and forced (ie. when they forced off to hold gun's hand for 1 min when he still hated that.) but now they're at a point where they don't even have fanservice anymore, they're just there, being cute & friendly together. off once said that offgun never "blew up", they had a gradual rise to fame, and in my opinion that's what makes them the most believable ship out there, and also what makes their friendship so beautiful. we've seen them both grow & evolve so much in front of our eyes, and through every drama & problem they encountered, they've never fought, they've always kept their professionalism, and it's clear that they truly love each other very much. so yup, you were totally right in saying that, and even though we might never see them in a bl together, for me offgun will always be bl royalty <3

002 | Give me a character: ANDERS

How I feel about this character: Ugly baby. Perverted old coot. I love him. He is like... simultaneously the most self-absorbed bastard and the most selfless giving person. Absolutely beautiful. I think Anders is a man/character of dichotomies, and I think despite some issues the narrative really gets that across well.

All the people I ship romantically with this character: Merrill. Fenris. Justice. Hawke. Not sure if the canon version of this romance is any better than any of the others, but it’s definitely awful in a funnier way for me personally. And noncanon Hawke you can of course do great things with. Carver. Bethany. Basically whether these two end up in the Circle, or with the Wardens, you have an immediate in for thematic relevance and shared experience with Anders. He’s my favourite person to ship each of them with. Sigrun. I don’t have a justification for this one. Just think it would be cute. Nathaniel. Mmm, same. I’ve seen other people write this well in a way that makes me want to say I ship it, but I can’t exactly pin it down. Leliana. I mean, they don’t talk in canon. And I don’t think I can ship her Left Hand of the Divine self with Anders. But, like- canon diverge before that? Think about it. They both wanna be Andraste. They’re both wildly heretical Andrastians talking about love and compassion and justice. They need to kiss about that.

My non-romantic OTP for this character: I’m going to say Justice? Like, I think their connection is romantic, but it’s sometimes hard (for me anyway) to get that across when they’re sharing a body, so I don’t think of it in quite the same way. I think despite all the dysfunction in their relationship, Justice and Anders really managed to be what the other needed through some hard times and I think there is some genuine longing there where Justice loved that Anders’s hedonism could coexist with the goodness of his cause and his compassion, and Anders was inspired by Justice’s courage and sense of morality and responsibility. I’m glad Anders has Justice, even in playthroughs where everything else goes wrong for him. I guess also Isabela? In the sense that I think they’re fun to put in a room together and bounce off one another. I think they make good friends-with-benefits too, but I don’t think they especially want to be emotionally intimate with one another. Anders doesn’t really respect Isabela and I think Isabela has very little patience for Anders’s drama so :/ But I like that they seem to manage to coexist in a working relationship quite well despite that. I like how Isabela seems to know how to handle him without taking his shit personally, and see the good in him without enabling him overmuch.

My unpopular opinion about this character: Idk, he’s a jackass, but I don’t think he was wrong about bombing the Chantry if it helped end/stymie the prison labour system in Southern Thedas? I guess something more specific? I don’t think he’s a character that’s easily satisfied. I think he’s reckless and self destructive and loves testing people’s boundaries. I’m writing a fic where he’s cheating on my OTP for all of the above reasons. I feel like ‘Anders would cheat on my OTP’ is probably an unpopular opinion, but it probably says more about me than him, lmao.

One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon: I think there are probably a couple answers I could give to this but I think #1 is just better acknowledgement of who Anders was and what he was up against? I dunno. The real thing I want is for da4 Fenris to wryly talk about how much he hated Anders in Kirkwall and now he’s essentially become Anders - a freedom fighter raging against an uncaring slave labour machine and aggravating the people he talks to with problems they don’t know how to help - and isn’t it strange and wonderful and awful where life takes you? I think it would be ironic.

my OTP: Anders/Merrill & Anders/Fenris. I often ship them simultaneously in a polyamorous sense, but not always. I talked about both of them in this post.

a headcanon fact: There’s canon dialogue reasons not to, but I think most people headcanon Wynne as Anders’s teacher in the Circle, and I’m no exception. I feel like her ‘boys will be boys’ attitude in Origins really jives well with a lot of Anders’s worse qualities, lol.

002 | Give me a character & I will tell you: OGHREN

How I feel about this character Worst boy, best boy <3 What a pathetic old war veteran who got chewed up by the system and spat out and left for dead. Also he’s terrible!

All the people I ship romantically with this character: Nobody really. No one deserves that, especially not Felsi. Okay, I lied. Wrote a fic once where he had a thing with Stroud and a fade spirit named Fury. Also he totally has a weird little crush on Nathaniel Howe (and maybe Anders too). It would be nice to explore more of that in ways that would cause brain damage for everyone involved >:)

My non-romantic OTP for this character: He and Zevran have a funny little set of banters going. I like how amused Zevran is by Oghren trying to negotiate this grudging respect for him. And I like Zevran trying to get him to laugh with the joke about an elf and a human and a dwarf talking about wiping the piss off their hands. Also Branka, to be honest. Theirs was obviously a very unhappy marriage, but I do genuinely like Oghren’s involvement in Paragon of Her Kind, and how he obviously seems to love and revere this woman and care about her when everyone else has given up on her. I love the way he’ll unreservedly call her a genius, and genuinely be upset if the Warden elects to kill her. Pity she doesn’t seem to return any of that affection.

My unpopular opinion about this character: I like him. I think he’s great for the duration of Paragon of Her Kind, as I said above. I think he definitely overstays his welcome after that though, between the rest of Origins and Awakening. Especially since Origins itself is saturated with a lot of Warrior characters when you really only want one in your party to draw fire.

One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon: I wish he’d gotten a little more depth following Paragon if he was going to stick around. I think it’s frustrating that the writers seemed to think he was hilarious when the rest of us seemed to only see a sad pathetic alcoholic who takes out his disappointments with the world by sexually harrassing the people around him. I’m not even sure what I expect because I don’t even *need* him to get better, especially when he clearly doesn’t want to. But I wish there was a way to engage him less shallowly.

a headcanon fact: He thinks that Chasind honey mead is TOO SWEET and obviously for PANSIES & LITTLE GIRLS. But he still likes it. He sips it in secret at night and thinks of the honey termites in Orzammar.

002 | Give me a character & I will tell you: LELIANA

How I feel about this character: She is... the first character I romanced in this series. But I’m not sure it left me with many strong feelings about her. I think the back and forth the first game has about whether she fabricated her vision of the Maker entirely was interesting. I find her need to mythologise the world and the events of her life kind of frustrating, especially where it concerns turning Marjolene’s abuse of her into a tragic romantic epic. Though I think she is allowed to make sense of her life that way, if she chooses, I do find it alienating. I also think her association with the Chantry as a spearhead for its Imperialism is frustrating in DAI and subsequent additions to the series. Not that I consider it out of character, but it is a slap in the face imo for people who romanced her as Amell/Surana/Tabris/Mahariel. Definitely grounds for divorce.

All the people I ship romantically with this character: Morrigan. It’s definitely fun to contrast their worldviews. And, of course, to get Leliana to use her comparative savvy and experience to get Morrigan begging >:) Zevran. It’s fun since they’re both bisexual killers for hire who like shoe shopping. Warden. I think most of the backgrounds can be done well with her (discounting DAI). Wynne. I do like how Leliana seems to see through Wynne’s old lady act a little, and point out that she herself is older than she looks. I think this could be fun. And I brought up Anders up there ^ as a potential crackship >:)

My non-romantic OTP for this character: I don’t think I have one? Or, rather, I’m open to all the things I discussed in the shipping section being explored nonromantically.

My unpopular opinion about this character: I think there’s a lot of potential for her and Josie and Cassandra to be the villains in a DAI playthrough tbh. They are the ones kind of controlling the narrative about what the Inquisition is, and using it to further an agenda I do not feel is particularly in the interests of the Inquisitor in many cases, let alone most of Thedas.

One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon: Leaning more into her villain potential in DAI should have been an option imo.

my OTP: Any permutation of Leli/Morri/Zev/Warden is okay by me, given the writing to back it up.

my cross over ship: N/A.

a headcanon fact: This is very fix-it of me. But Tug made it out of the Arl of Denerim’s Estate alive, but without working legs. Leliana thought it was more romantic to write about him dying and giving Sketch his axe. Ableism abounds. Sketch is not done being pissed off at her about it.

002 | Give me a character & I will tell you: STEN OF THE BERESAAD

How I feel about this character: Another dumb bitch traumatised war veteran <3 I like him. I think he is the source of the best character work and worldbuilding this series has done on the Qunari. And he’s fun and rewarding to watch open up. Discovering that this really hardened and murderous bastard, with this totally foreign social perspective, likes cookies and art - it feels lovely.

All the people I ship romantically with this character: Warden! I don’t go here often enough, but I have seen some really cute fics about him bonding with Wardens of different kinds and showing them his nice and soft sides <3 I think him and Morrigan troll flirting with one another is also really funny and great, lol.

My non-romantic OTP for this character: Zevran, maybe! I’m disappointed that follow-ups to the series never did anything with Zevran considering going to Par Vollen with him and checking out the Qun. And Dog <3 I feel like Sten is really that war vet guy who needs a service animal.

My unpopular opinion about this character: I’m not sure what counts as an unpopular opinion. I suppose I think it was terribly out of character for him to declare Alistair ‘basalit-an‘ in the comics. He clearly has absolutely no respect for the guy in Origins.

One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon: Egh, I think I’m pleased enough with what we get from him in canon, excluding the comics jank.

my OTP: I still think him and Warden could be cute together.

a headcanon fact: He got promoted to Arishok because he introduced Mabari puppies and cookies to Par Vollen and for no other reason.

Oh man, it’s been a minute since we’ve talked about Mr. Power Sponge himself!! Guess it’s time to go back to that one... 👀 Heehee. (I also was reading the fics I wrote for this ship awhile ago, so this works out!!)

First and foremost can confirm: this will be following the Good Karma path! I’m too nice to be mean, and this reflects in the ship, LMAO. With that in mind...

Delsin doesn’t even bump into Rachel first. It’s actually their partner in crime, Sanna, whom he finds first. Causing troubles for D.U.P. and disappearing into the waters whenever they try to catch her. Of the conduits running around, she’s one of the few who doesn’t immediately invite a negative response; a lot of people- children especially- kinda knock her into the “mermaid” mythology first, so there’s some kinda hope that she may actually be pretty cool if they do [x] thing. (Giving her a catch of fish, offer pretty trinkets at the beach, etc.)

Chasing her down is what leads him to find their hideout, and the Emotional Manipulation Conduit, Rachel. (Sanna’s being Water Control.) It’s a small scuffle of panic and, eventually, Delsin is able to get them both to calm down. Fetch and Eugene have already joined up with him, by that point, so the addition of Senna and Rachel in one go rounds up the team to a solid 5.

All’s well, that ends well! ...At least, until Delsin starts catching feelings.

Rach’s silly, chill, a constant snoozer (thanks to the drain their powers exert on them), friend to animals, supports his art while doing their own... There’s a lot to like. Bonus for maybe offering some fries to take, and they just. Bit down and ate them from his fingers while gaming. That did some things to his heart.

Lots of subtleties were attempted, to no avail. Turns out, his crush is horribly oblivious; who knew?! (Sanna did, and could’ve told him as much. Didn’t, because watching him struggle was funnier.)

Eventually, the rest of the team works together to help Delsin stop pining in what could count for “silence” and start offering ideas. Most of which, others that don’t...and finally, the idea comes up: “Why not make some art for them? Make it a standout event?”

So, as detailed in this fic ( ;3 ), he does eventually figure it out...in his own way! And with less stumbling around like a dork, to boot.

In short, conduits are eventually accepted into society with the help of Delsin’s group forerunning the whole thing, he’s got his datemate who is weirdly good with helping people calm down from even the worst of situations...and yeah, they’re still stealing his fries.

So... Yeah, things are pretty good~!

okokokokok. guys. guys. hear me out. OFMD and The Locked Tomb crossover AU.

LISTEN. So Jod is like a pirate-lord-guy-thingy in charge of a whole-ass pirate fleet. The insanely uncreative names of these ships (The Sixth, The Ninth) annoy Ed so much that he decides to pirate the fleet. So he goes up to the ship that’s called The First (Canaan House) and is met by a startling mix of insanely loyal fighters who would never even THINK of betraying Jod, and people going “Please for the love of GOD get us the FUCK off this boat”. And so Ed ends up kidnapping all the heirs to the pirate ships and their cavaliers, kinda by accident, and bringing them back to The Revenge (bc they don’t break up or something insane like that wdym?).

And. And. Ok here’s my list of interactions.

-Ed and Gideon. Fucking perfection. My two ADHD gremlins just vibing together. Ed thinks Gideon’s puns are hilarious. This interaction is made even funnier (to me) by the fact that Tamsyn Muir imagines Jod to look like Taika Waititi. Also Ed is a huge fan of Gideon’s longsword preference.

-Harrow and Buttons. Look i know you might be surprised but like. Imagine if Buttons can see the body too. They would literally just be like. chilling together. I think he would be really good for her. Buttons would, however, probably tell seagulls about the bone girl who is haunted but also like. Not stable. or ok. at all. Just very much a weirdness squared kind of dynamic I need it so much.

-Camilla and Izzy Hands. I literally just want to see them swordfight guys help I want to see Camilla beat Izzy’s ass seriously i really do. But also some really cool parallels or contrasts between Camilla + Palamedes and Izzy + Ed. Very juicy stuff there.

-Abigail and Magnus Pent (because she’s not dead, haha what?? Why would she be dead that’s crazy guys) adopts the entire crew. Full stop. Yes, including Ed and Stede.

-You know that post about Harrow being Palamedes’ poor little meow meow? Yeah, Ianthe is Stede’s poor little meow meow. Evidence: I think it would be hilarious.

-Judith Duetoros ends up being in charge of the chase for The Revenge, and she and Coronabeth are not at ALL quietly pining for each other.

-Later on Mercymorn and Augustine defect to the Revenge and that is just. 10/10 comedy

-The Revenge crew generally just thinks that the Ninth objectively cooler and better than any of the other pirate ships because of all the skulls. Silas Octakierson is horrified by this fact.

-Harrow and Palamedes steal literally all of Stede’s books. Like he goes into his quarters one day and they’re both just there and all the books are scattered on the floor and they’re discussing them and then they both look up at him like cats who have just been disturbed from a nap and Stede is just like “ok then”

-Ed steals Gideon’s sunglasses for the sole purpose of running up to Stede, tipping them down and smirking, to see what happens. Stede faints is what happens. Gideon and Izzy are vibrating with anger in the background, Gideon because its HER sunglasses and she was gonna try that out on Harrow but now it will seem like she’s copying, and Izzy because ya know. Izzy’s just like that.

-Also everybody, and I mean EVERYBODY, gets involved on betting how long it will take Harrow and Gideon to confess their love for each other. Like, every single person. Because it’s the single most obvious thing on the entire ship.

So like... please add on if you have more please please please I want to see your thoughts

I’m bored so instead of doing 30days I’m going to answer this now because I’m bored-

1) Anakin Skywalker, but I can’t really choose just one favorite.

2) Ezra Bridger, I love that blueberry cinnamon roll so much

3) Kallus or Thrawn. Kallus changed sides at the end but his one of my favorites, and Thrawn is just a amazing villain. He studies his enemy, down to cultural stuff.

4) it would be unfair to pick Anakin again so this ones goes to Obi-Wan, our favorites negotiator.

5) R2-D2, he is best droid, in every single appearance, his hilarious and sassy even in Binary

6) guessing this mean like- flying ship- and it’s going to the Millennium Falcon because that piece of junk is iconic

7) Dooku or Assaj, both are really interesting to me, I loved seeing Ventress story and I’m excited to explore Dooku’s in Tales of the Jedi.

8) Return of the Jedi, is amazing and has a satisfying ending. Vader redemption + Badass Luke. The Ewok’s are adorable, Han and Leia relationship is everything, Luke and Leia relationship as well. 10/10

9) Revenge of the Sith. It my favorite over all movie. I loved seeing Anakin’s fall, his relationship with Padme and Obi-Wan, the fall of the republic, the birth of Darth Vader. Everything is amazing, and don’t get me started on the Duel on Mustafar.

10) He is just so precious I can’t-

11) I warn y’all- BATTLE OF MUSTAFAR- Iconic, one of the best duels- Props to Ewan and Hayden to learning this iconic moment and all the trainers. They anticipate each others moves from the teacher spent together, there is so much anger, hate and pain. The cinematography is fantastic that when I watched it I was just awestruck. Every single moment from beginning to end is amazing, the choreography is amazing, the acting is amazing. 10/10

12) Anakin and Obi-Wan during the Battle Over Coruscant. From start to end. I loved seeing there banter and how you can see the years of relationship and fighting together. I wished a lot of the deleted scenes were kept because it would be even funnier.

13) this is hard because their is so many good options. But I have to go with either “This is where the fun Begins” or “I have the High-Ground” because I loved playing those scenes out in my room

14) there is a lot of scenes that make me Happy, So is hard to pick. So instead- going with one that constantly makes me laugh. Clone Wars, S3ep18, when they’re trying to escape and the magnet thing goes off and all their weapons go up- I always laugh at Anakin getting beamed up because is something nobody expected and It’s just hilarious to me

15) Any moment of Order 66, every-time is mentioned or I have to relieve it, I constantly hate it because it absolutely breaks me. It’s so sad and depressing and then you see everybody who survived it living with the trauma- is just horrible

17) Probably the Duel of the Fates moment. Great battle and we get to see the start of the Sith and Obi-Wan starting to become to character he is.

18) Obi-Wan and Anakin VS Dooku. We really get to see how powerful Dooku is while fighting two skilled Jedi as if nothing and later fighting his former master and getting away. Also you get to see the growth of Anakin and Obi-Wan later for ROTS

19) Hard choice between the battle on Mustafar or The Battle over Coruscant. But I think I have to go with the latter.

20) Blowing up the Death Star + Han coming in to help. Is just the best scene for me

21) All I have to say, Vader reveal

22) Vader Redemption + self sacrifice. Also getting to see Force Ghost Anakin

23) I wish that instead of Padme rushing over to Anakin after they fought Dooku in AOTC it was just him and Obi-Wan. Because Obi-Wan has to be worry for him! His Padawan just lost his arm! I wish we saw that instead of Padme rushing in. In other words, I wanted what we saw in “Galaxy Adventure”

24) Palpatine. I get that’s the whole point but everytime I see him or his mention in anything I get so angry and quietly cuss him out. (No hate towards the actors at all-)

25) I haven’t read any yet, but I do have Rogue Planet that ima read soon so-

29) I don’t know is this really count but- best memory for me is getting to watch all the movies and some of the series with my older brother. His the once who convinced me to watch Star Wars and is now another thing we can bond over.

30) Is just something to iconic and fun. I can constantly re-watch and never get bored- and there is still new things happening. Most characters are incredibly written and the story building is amazing.
