Hey everyone,
I have finished the Halloween event 2022 on MCL and I want to give you my review. There will be spoilers in it about the event.
Let start with the story. I like the idea of Candy and the Love Interest playing a VR game together. I am self, a big gaming fan. And the discussions about what you would do if there was a zombie apocalypse are interesting. I never thought what I would do if something like that happens. It is a nice thing to fantasize about. You also have to memorize things in this event. I do like the way how the items look and everything. I wasn't that good this time at playing the memory game. Maybe I should practice more with memory games. The Easter egg is really cool. That ghost from last event was so cute. And it is really nice to see that he/she finds you awesome. The illustrations of this event are amazing. I love every single one of them. In the illustration with Hyun, they both look so bold. The one with Priya, I love the way she looks in the illustration. I would love to put her in that outfit next to my Candy. The one with Castiel looks cool and romantic. In Nathaniel's illustration, Candy looks so, caring. And I like how Rayan tries to protect Candy. I do like the outfits, but I am not sure if I would wear them because they are mostly covered in blood. Except the wig from the Scavenger outfit. That I am going to wear often, I love that wig. We haven't won the bonus yet, but it is a cool dog. And I like that they named the dog Sirius. It made me think of Harry Potter. I think you know that I love all Harry Potter stuff. There is one thing I didn't like about the event. I hoped that since Armin now is back in the game, that all 9 LI would be in the event. So, I am kind of sad that it didn't happen. I also like to see some of Candy's friends back. I miss Violette and Chani so much when I don't see them. Those two characters are really awesome.
So overall I liked the event a lot. I hope you like this review.
Love,
Belodie

[Event Review] Anime Pasadena 2023
By: Katherine Cañeba | @kcserinlee
TL/DR
This was a very enjoyable and well-attended mid-tier convention (around 15,000 attendees) with a lot of official vendors, art vendors, and English VAs hosting panels/meet-and-greets. Spend one day if you’re mainly planning to shop; spend two days if you also want to attend panels. Plan to arrive as soon as possible in the morning because once parking at the convention center fills up, additional parking structures in the surrounding area will require a good amount of walking to get to and from the convention.
Location: Pasadena Convention Center, 300 E Green St, Pasadena, CA 91101
Date: 4-5 November 2023
Tumblr media
I attended for Day 1 and spent it mainly on shopping and slightly on exploring. The venue was an appropriate size given the scale of the event. It felt spacious enough to house all the vendors, main stage, gaming area, photo op zone, and still had open floor space in the hallways to sit, rest, or eat. I also appreciate that there was an information table at the entrance to each building in the venue.
Food options abounded, starting with a couple of food trucks that had incredibly long lines in the outdoor plaza on Green Street and a conveniently-located Starbucks that was part of the convention center itself. The location in downtown Pasadena also afforded attendees a wide variety of surrounding restaurants. My friend and I ended up getting lunch at the soft opening of a new restaurant a couple of blocks away called “Tokyo Chick.” They had a banner up across the street from the convention center to attract hungry con-goers who didn’t want to wait for up to an hour for food from the food trucks. Considering how busy it was at Tokyo Chick, we liked that the wait from the back of the line to receiving one’s food was around half an hour. Everyone was required to take their order to-go, and the to-go boxes were placed in a Tokyo Chick-branded reusable polyurethane bag that could be brought back to the restaurant for a discount on your next order. If you find yourself at Tokyo Chick in the near future, I recommend trying the karaage!

Health and Safety Policy
The Pasadena Convention Center states on their website that they are in ADA compliance with everything from designated parking, to restrooms, to service animals. As is somewhat standard now across California conventions, there was no strong encouragement to wear masks, and masking was entirely up to individual preference. While I did I see several attendees wearing masks, the majority of people were not and I did not observe any pressure or harassment of masked individuals by unmasked ones, or vice versa.
Vendor Hall & Artist Alley
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Cosplay Areas
Cosplayers freely roamed the venue and were concentrated most heavily in the outdoor plaza on Green Street. This area is where people could best admire the cosplayers from afar, or interact with them and ask for photos.
Entertainment – Attendee Experience
Once we made it to the front of the registration and badge pick-up line, there were no more long lines to contend with (not counting the lunch lines)—just convention fun! Between the Entertainment Hall, Cast Panels, and Artist Alley, I spent the majority of my time in the Artist Alley and enjoyed every moment.
Of course, every mid-size and larger anime convention worth one’s salt has a Main Stage, and true to form, the one here was playing a lineup of anime soundtrack cover singers, emcee jokes, and trivia contests with the audience. The photo booth area on the same floor as the Main Stage had many banners of popular anime, but the views were always obscured by people sitting on the floor or at round tables in front of them, so they were not very accessible for photo takers without having to ask for people to move. There were also giveaways to celebrate the 5th Anniversary of Anime Pasadena, but we arrived too late and decided not to participate since they had run out of everything we would have been interested in. However, other than these small letdowns, we had a great time and experienced a lot without feeling overwhelmed.
One lingering question I had about the convention management was that there was a dedicated convention center staff member in the Entertainment Hall (Dragon Hall Z) catching everyone at the door and verbally directing them to go straight downstairs towards the Main Stage area. The whole ground floor was off-limits to convention attendees for undisclosed reasons. It would have made more sense to have physical cordons, like retractable-belt barriers, and a sign put up to communicate this in addition to having a staff member present to ensure compliance.
In closing, Anime Pasadena was time and money well spent, and I encourage any anime fan who will be in the LA area in early November to plan for next year’s convention!

Liquid Stranger Is No Stranger to a Good Time On the "DIMENSIONS" Tour
Liquid Stranger Is No Stranger to a Good Time On the “DIMENSIONS” Tour
Tasked with guiding my friend through his first EDM concert, I was confident Liquid Stranger would take good care of us. The Wakaan boss brought his DIMENSIONS tour to the Commodore Ballroom in Vancouver, B.C. on November 26th for a night of head-banging, hip-swinging fun. I took a small survey of festival-goers at Thunderdome earlier this year and Liquid Stranger was overwhelmingly among the…

Hello everyone,
I finished the Easter event 2023 of MCL and want to give you my review.
Let start with the story. You have to take care of a magical Hen who gives you chocolate eggs. The idea of taking care of a magical creature, I like. But then you hear in the stories that the creature made a mess of your house. I like a clean house. Then the mini-games. To be honest, I have played these kinds of mini-games too much, and I am tired of all the waiting in between it. And since I am not so good at the bugs game and getting clean water. I don't like the mini-games that much anymore. The Easter egg, you can get dizzy off it. But I found it fun. And it is very different from what we normally get as an Easter egg. Most of the time you see the Dollar shop guy back. The outfits, I like the like a colorful egg outfit the most. I am really happy with the skirt from that one, and I also like the hairstyle a lot. From the sweet hunt outfit, I like the sweater the most. The bank outfit is not really my style. Over to the illustration. The best part of the event. All the illustration were so romantic and super sweet. I am in love with every single one of them.
So overall, I am the happiest with the illustrations. I hope you like this review.
Love,
Belodie

event review since the last one
Story- 5/10. tbh it is split down the middle. all of the “main story” stuff was trash. i didnt like either of the servants, didnt like their storylines, didnt like their designs. but on the other hand it did really well w izou. and seeing senpai get more screentime even if dog =/= wolf (oh my gosh game get this through your fiuccking head) is also always good. literally izou and sousukes friendship gives me life.
Free servant- n.a./10. honestly im glad a little bc i didnt like either gacha servant but also there was speculation that setanta would be added so. :/
Gacha servant- 5/10. i didnt like them so i didnt roll for them :/ its that simple. tho i was tempted at some point (before her goals in the story were revealed fuck that) to roll for ba kin bc i didnt want to separate izou and sousuke. but im glad i didnt lol
Event gameplay- 9/10. average in terms of events. but the dog expedition system was so wholesome it boosts up the points. goodest boys. you can pet the dogs in f g o
Other- 5/10. myroom was nice and inoffensive (i was reminded of how much i hated 2021 white day) and had sanshin music, so its good in my books. everything else was fine enough.
Overall- 6/10.
rated higher just for izou and the dogs, but they cant save the horrible personalities of the event servants, nor the bad plot of the event. at least it didnt really affect izou (or even hokusai, or senpai, or anyone else) in relation.
other events bc i dont remember if i did them
anniv was 6/10 bc xu fu is finally here! and also a good izou ce. the kon event was also fine (6-7/10 id say), im glad they did good (or at least not bad) by the trung sisters, bc they couldve just bsed it and made them “jeannefaces” or some nonsense. taisui is cute and fine enough, and a much better free servant than other suggested ones (please gosh no dont bring in lb6 shilling again). white day was garbage, 3 or 2/10 bc bad character and unfunny referential jokes (not offensive, just not funny either). golden week was trash, like even worse trash for making fun of people dying in natural disasters at the start and just overall bad. idk why the writers write abt a country they clearly hate and have prejudice against, and just continue to do what they condemn others for doing. 0/10 honestly, would skip. but i forgot to get that altera code so i need to not skip. fuck. i hate 2020s event more for personal reasons but i think for taste/morals the 2022 collab is worse. (2021 had some really iffy implications too, and just bad double standards with the event servant, but it wasnt as insensitive as 2022s nor as insulting to me personally as 2020s. 2019s was just boring and a bad story). valentines is 4/10. the lottery system sucks, and had mixed feelings abt (mostly ship/implications around) the new servant, but the actual character and abilities were fun to play with, and the valentines werent awful.
i guess ill write the summer one when its over bc i dont know rn. it could be eh or it could be fucking garbage. who knows

[Things Missed] Anime Expo 2023: Attendee & Presenter Experience
Tumblr media
By: Peggy Sue Wood | @pswediting
July 2023 was a difficult time for me. Originally, this was supposed to go up soon after the AX convention, but I missed the opportunity to do so at the time.
I was focused more on enjoying the convention itself since two of my friends joined me and I was dealing with personal things at home, but here is, essentially, my assessment of Anime Expo 2023:
TL/DR
This is a large-scale event with lots of people. You can spend days just going up and down the exhibit hall–moreover, there are a great number of panels to consider that often feature lines outside in the LA heat for a few hours before the event.
This convention is not good for first-time convention goers, particularly if you are not great with being in large crowds and struggle in long lines.
Size and Scale + Food Alley
Location: Los Angeles Convention Center, Los Angeles, CA
Health and Safety Policy
Masks are optional. In terms of safety, I felt fine at the event and did enjoy walking around the convention center. However, I did not venture far into surrounding areas outside of going to the Crunchyroll lounge at a local hotel, and to get breakfast on Day 0. Overall, the city is pretty big and the immediate area was fine, but not a place I would consider safe to wander around at night by myself.
Vender Hall
Large as usual! I spent a lot of my time going to each stall and trying to get as many goodies as possible. It was super fun and with how much promotional stuff is going on, you can reasonably walk away with a backpack full of free posters and small goodies if you come in with a fully charged phone and an active Instagram.
I will note, however, that there were far fewer goody-give aways than years prior. I’ve been going since 2009 and this was probably the first time that the freebies did not make me have to take multiple trips to the car for drop-offs. Still, considering how much my friends and I spent walking around, it was a large space that definitely took us more than one day to fully explore and I love that!
Artist Alley
This took up its own space, as is typical for AX. We ended up dedicating an entire day to this, so all of Day 4 was spent exploring the Artist Alley and we STILL missed things. This area was much better planned than last year. The walkways were a few feet wider and, therefore, far less clogged/blocked traffic in the hallways which was very good for all us.
Cosplay Area / Night Market / Food “Court”
The cosplay area also had its own space, which we enjoyed taking photos near the end of the convention. It was often busy with cosplayers and seemed to have been close to the game space. We did not spend a lot of time there, so I was not able to judge this area well. It was, however, really fun and we took a lot of pictures in parts of the first row––like in the school-room scene and at the tea-serving table.
The Night Market was a fun stop off too. There were several food stalls there and one boba place that we got drinks from a few times. It was a nice place to chill at the end of the day, with a good amount of seating and atmospheric lighting that made it nice to sit comfortably at night.
Entertainment – Presenter Experience
Presenting was fantastic and I hope to do so again. I did make a mistake when picking up my badge and came early on Day 0. I am very apologetic to staff as I know that my situation caused confusion. I am, however, very appreciative of them all and how they got me and my friends free badges as a result of me presenting. As a note: My friends were also able to attend because I required an ADA sticker during this convention and they alternated helping me with the mobility issues I experienced. While many conventions do allow presenters a +1, often at a discounted or free rate, AX was extremely gracious in allowing me two +1s as a result of my condition at the time and I forever grateful.
In regards to the presentation, I presented Manga and Comics: A Different cultural base, which I believe you all have seen me post about before. Here is a link to the presentation for those interested in viewing it (my script is in the notes of each slide):
Manga & Comics: A Different Cultural Base https://docs.google.com/presentation/d/1dSw09wnh1nQL80AVnQjbmPxwv8mCSYhZ/edit?usp=sharing&ouid=109028846234695529861&rtpof=true&sd=true
Entertainment
I did not, unfortunately, attend too many panels. I did attend a few academic ones and went to the AX office hours, but was ultimately focused more on enjoying the convention itself since two of my friends joined me and I was, as mentioned, dealing with personal things at home.
Final Judgments
Venue: 4.5/5 – Large enough and now has cell service in some areas! WOOHOO!
Staff: 5/5 – Staff were wonderful
Organization, Layout & Management: 4.5/5 – The Exhibit hall could use a bit better organization, but was ultimately well managed.
Organization, Media Use: 4.5/5 – The app was regularly updated and accessible most of the time, advertising was frequently seen leading up to and around the event area, and I enjoyed looking at the posts made by the convention staff.
Attendance: 5/5 – They capped ticket sales and the convention benefited from this significantly.
Affordability: 5/5 – This is one of the more expensive conventions, but because of its size and scale it is worth the cost.
Overall: 4.75/5 – Worth the price. Please read the TL/DR at the top.

Electric Daisy Carnival 2022 Review | #sorryasianparents
My #EDC review from this years #EDC2022
Okay, I’m finally over the festival flu, and I’m ready to share my 14th Electric Daisy Carnival experience with y’all! With over 166k Headliners attending each night, according to the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police, this was probably my biggest EDC. I had a fantastic time, but there were a few bumps down the rabbit hole for Insomniac’s 26th Windy-C (sorry-not-sorry for the pun). Quick SparkNotes…
