No , RWBY is neither misogynistic nor homophobic...it is every bit the opposite

Rwby not written for the male gaze. Redesigns made by critics focus on sexualizing women.  RWBY has women show much less skin than the typical fairy tail woman. Also their clothes have pockets and pouches. Rwby is not written for the patriarchy.

So Personally I've always felt like misogyny was always made by the critics. A common thread in a lot of that group's criticisms seems to come down to not liking that some of the show's villains embody male power fantasies, and that the positive male characters it has aren't the main characters, with the female characters being a harem for them.

It's a female-centered story whose true focus is its main characters' growing and supporting each other through their weaknesses and struggles, and a lot of men can't stand it.

Rewrites and AUs focus on men, on straightwashing women, on validating edgelords, on telling women that they suck. And more importantly,  rewrites are obsessed with not letting women be right about anything or important unless they're tied to a male protagonist story.

But Rwby is about giving women roles typically held by men. Women not requiring men for authority, or guidance, but instead being men's equals. Or in the case of the female antagonists? Having mental superiority over deconstructed edgelords like Adam taurus or the "ends justify the means" deconstruction of ironwood.

They have girlfails like Cinder, who you can hate, but also admire that she keeps coming back and refusing to give up.

They have badass grannies like Maria Calavera.

They have autism-coded women.

And unlike Naruto? Women can actually WIN a 1 on 1 fight against a male opponent.

Edgelord is what incels see themselves as. Incels also see themselves as victims of women. They also see themselves as tragic,  misunderstood,  or entitled to an ego.

Adam is the example of the incel: "I was hurt by society, so I am going to make it everyone's problem! I am a hero of justice, for I am giving the world the justice it deserves! I am an underdog!"

That's how incels, conservatives, otakus see themselves.

They saw Adam as a Vergil Sparda. A dude who murders countless innocent lives for the sake of power.....who believes that power is the only thing matters. He ain't morally grey, he's evil. But he's cool, and to a lot of very emotionally immature people, coolness means morally grey or anti-villain/anti-hero. Adam was introduced trying to rob a train and blow up innocent people....people accused blake of being a murderer and trying to blow up the train, then running from adam. Adam was shown in volume 2, as a cult leader neglecting the deaths of his people. As with "Burning the candle" Yang and Blake scene, RWDE and RWBY Critics disregarded that because it ruined their headcanons of what they wanted Adam to be.

How many Adam fanfics have you seen where Blake is written as the one abusing adam?

Male abusers see themselves as victims of women.

Coffeehouse Crime, Danielle Kirsty, Eleanor Neale. Look them up on Youtube. They cover multiple cases of murderers and abusers. And the details that go into emotional and mental abuse/gaslighting? They cover them all. Including how society turns a blind eye to abuse if its not physical. Which is what Adam fans do.

Btw, if you want an example of a murderer who was an IRL abuser? Just look up OJ Simpson, who got away with both thanks to his fans.

RWBY covers emotional abuse, shows the damage it can do, and shows through Blake the recovery.

Arryn has been a victim of IRL cyberbullying from blacksun fans, BobxEliza fans, and Adam fans.

To where she's had to deactivate her social media.

Art imitates life....RWBY Critics harassing voice actresses. Though thefloofartist actually sent CRWBY gore fanart of Bumbleby and tauradonna ntr fanart, that was horrific.

Roman Torchwick is an example of charismatic sociopaths being the criminal: Society was mean to me, so I'm going to be racist, steal from the elderly, and hurt kids. Sure he has charisma as a character....does that excuse racism, calling Emerald a Street Rat, trying to rob old men, and shooting teenage girls

Jacques emotional abuse and gaslighting, something many people refuse to acknowledge unless its clearly spelled out from A to Z. One Adam taurus fan on twitter made death threats to a woman trying to explain that emotional abuse is real.

Raven is a bandit. A bandit is a killer and a thief. You don't romanticize killers and thieves. One piece paints an unrealistic view of pirates. 

Ironwood and Atlas represent the American Macho mindset and the nationalism issue Americans have. Illegally occupying foreign nations with military force as a means of "peacekeeping"? Removing leaders from power who don't respect your authority or your ideas? My way or the highway? Unwilling to compromise? Willing to work with capitalist Corporations so long as your war machine is funded? The ends justify the means? Only villains say that! Merging the police with the military to have unlimited power? Putting the good ethical cop "Marrow" under pressure and mockery? Treating the poor people as acceptable losses to cut and cutting all aid and support to the 99%? Arresting or threatening good samaritans who try to help the impoverished and underprivileged because they're not recognized by your licenses? Refusing to accept checks and balances because you see yourself as above the law and being the only one with the big picture? Seeing it as your duty to police others?

People were willing to consider Ironwood a sussy baka so long as they could consider Atlas to be like Germany. But the moment CRWBY pointed out how Atlas was too much like America? The "patriots" got furious...because it was too much like looking into a mirror, and the Ironwood fangirls did not like what they saw.

Less character bloat compared to shounen anime. Shounen has thousands of character. RWBY barely has 200. But they focus more on women's characters than men, and that upsets the Cardin fans and fanfic writers. If I had a nickel for every youtube channel that decided to make the racist incompetent bully into some "gigachad", I'd have two nickels, which isn't much, but still weird that it happened twice. Meanwhile, let a man have 3-5 minutes of screentime, the critics will say that Team RWBY don't act like the main characters. Protagonist centered morality only in shounen. Team rwby do face consequences and are forced to evaluate their decisions. The women are the protagonists, and they can spend more than 10 minutes without breaking the Bechdel test. Something that, once again, adam and cardin and jaune fanfics fail within a paragraph.

Ichigo and Rukia from Bleach, One Piece Live Action, Naruto and Sakura from that Gay Ninja Series.

Or in RWBY's case, I'm referring Blake Belladonna and Sun Wukong

Neither showed romantic attraction towards either gender for the majority of the show. Blake and Sun's arcs in V4 and V5 were about Blake learning to accept help, and Sun learning to recognize and respect people's boundaries. Neither Blake nor Sun actually made serious advances, and simply stayed good friends. Also if lesbians cannot exist without being fan service to you, that just means you're a pervert and need to touch grass.

Anyway, whomever said that RWBY Writers have no idea how to write women need to take a look at how their critics make video after video bashing women and LGBT.

Oh, and twitter calls RWBY post v3 "pandering to tumblerinas".

Given how Tumblr has no pedophiles/lolicons, less conservatives and terfs, and is very feminist? I'll take that as a compliment.

puella mystery dungeon: explorers of time, am i right?

some 3am au stuff. bad sketches and info under the cut.

homura and madoka are just normal partners — madoka coming from a happy home, and homura always being vague over her past, both being previously only "backup" for much stronger/better teams. but after a tragic incident where madoka is severely hurt by a foe much too strong for any normal pokemon to handle (giratina?), let alone two eevees, homura splits off from the guild and begins to steal time gears in an effort to stop/reverse time and save madoka through looping. homura's need for strength combined with her feelings for madoka cause her to evolve while messing with time, making her even more of an outcast as she loops, being perceived as more dangerous due to not being in her "base form" like most of the guild members.

misunderstood and branded as a thief, homura still occasionally drops by the guild to issue very cryptic warnings to madoka, and is known to save guild members from stronger pokemon despite the bounty for her capture. this causes understandable confusion from said members due to this not matching her "dangerous criminal" persona, especially when she's overly kind to madoka alone.

when not stealing time gears and causing security incidents at the guild, homura attempts to defeat giratina so that madoka and other pokemon will not be forced to face it. this almost always ends in failure. in the final loop, madoka beats giratina through the power of Unbridled Compassion and evolves into a sylveon in the process, but ends up vanishing from the timeline to preserve the stability of their world.

^ these look worse bc 4am sketches, but it's meant to be the "MADOKA. DO YOU VALUE YOUR LIFE." hallway scene but with an evolved homu and a very confused mado. also, evolved mado is a sylveon — was going to be espeon but. eh. idk. they need a dual psychic/fairy eeveelution.

So he is an overthinking type, am I right? I can imagine him being emotionally mainpulative though.

Like maybe our fairy boys don't want to talk about him because they feel somewhat bad about the whole situation. I mean that they may think or feel that there was something they could've done to prevent the incident with him? When in reality they wouldn't be able to do anything.

I just feel like he is a gaslighter and manipulator but he might seem as someone who is innocently curious about things or just a very misunderstood character.

Sorry if that's far from being accurate but I can't stop thinking about that one time when you called him an equivalent of a Voldemort in this AU.

I only call him Voldemort in the fact as part of the joke that I've never actually uttered his name, haha

But in regards to his character, I suppose you will have to see. I'm excited and hope to get to it soon.

Gotta take care of other story things first, though.

Fae!Hobie here is based off of an European Earwig cause they’re super badass, wildly misunderstood, one of the most maternal/paternal invertebrates on the planet and have the most beautiful (in my opinion), complicated wings in the animal kingdom. They’re like origami; scientists have made satiates modelled after their wings cause they fold up so tiny.

Hopefully I’ll draw much more of this AU soon! But first, time to get started on my D&D AU 😉

Ooh I think I wrote a ficlet with Rulie as CaptainSwan, so I would probably go from there.

-Julie as the Saviour who saves a bunch of fairy tale characters through the power of love? What a great parallel!

-Ray and Rose as Charming and Snow, the embodiment of True Love, who will always find each other, yes please!

-Caleb would definitely be Rumplestiltskin/Mr. Gold, because I can see him gobbling that role up, plus all the suits would be right up his alley.

-Reggie would definitely be Hook, because of the leather and the swagger, and the family issues. It is the only time I would allow him to keep the facial hair.

-I don’t know who I would cast as Regina/The Evil Queen, but I think it might be fun for Tia Victoria who gets very misunderstood and doesn’t want the kingdom to fall into the gutter of life, might be a fun twist!

You are thinking about involving the unicorn after all? What kind of power would it have through? The transformational one already went to the platypus if I recall right. "Kwami of magic"... hmmm... they technically all grant magical powers, and if we define magic as something opposed to rationality, it would be just again what the unicorn used to be? A way could be to associate it specifically with mythological thinking and archetypal tales, more of a "kwami of fairy tales", with some kind of a power to, like, show hidden aspects of people and situations via fairytale-type metaphors? One person whose AUs I also love has a kwami of stories with a power to trap people in stories until they understand its message.

Probably to cement one's decision. To convince someone to do something, not mind control/giving a command.

Not in the present, just as the reason for how the miraculous are. Basically, my main idea is that the unicorn was used to establish the miraculous as we know it. The miraculous at first were just there to connect the kwamis to the humans. The kwamis' forms were abstract, their appearance changed if they wanted to and their powers were all over the place (literally lol). The unicorn was used to bring a little order, at first it was just a slight restriction to the kwamis' powers, then a way to bond further with the kwamis (or to control them better)- transformation. The Order was then established and after it was corrupted (by that I mean that the objective of guarding the kwamis turned to using them for control) they made drastic changes to the miraculous, to further control the kwamis. I imagine that the unicorn was broken and then destroyed because of the frequent use and the fact, that there was an attempt at changing the unicorn itself. It was the first miraculous to be broken and subsequently destroyed.

So the idea is that the unicorn kwami was born the moment that a kwami (either Tikki or Luxx, I'm deciding between these two to be the firsts) was bonded to a miraculous. So her concept would be the miraculous and the bond itself. She's very powerful, yes, but she's basically only there to explain why are the miraculous the way they are and why things like the power-up potions exist.

college squad au bc i think of this a lot

koujiro rinko, our main character. she starts off at 18 in season 1. programming nerd. gemma from m3gan. trying to find herself and figure out how adulting works. millennial (affectionate). she’s determined that college is going to be the best years of her life. the entire fandom universally agrees she’s bi and in love with her best friend mayumi who gets introduced in season 4. rinkoyumi vs kayarinko debates plauge twitter for months until her actress posts a tweet on june 1st saying she’s always considered rinko to be bi and wanted to play her with the intention of her crushing on mayumi. every gay person fucking loves her she has so many comfort character edits on tiktok.

kayaba akihiko, Just Some Guy Turned Main Love Interest. starts season 1 at 19. somehow everyone in the university knows who he is. he keeps to himself and has a foreboding mysterious sense about him. fans either headcanon him as bland and emotionless or secretly a massive softie who volunteers at animal shelters. math nerd. he usually ends up solving most of the bullshit the squad gets into. the amount of autism coding in this man.

sugou nobuyuki, fandom-nominted misunderstood soft dork (negative). never have you ever seen a character be misconstrued like this. starts season 1 at 18 but turns 19 like halfway through the season. he’s originally an english major but changes his degree in season 2. he is a dick but he’s good at hiding it therefore people think that he’s gonna be The Bad Boy Love Interest. he briefly is bc he and rinko start dating at the end of season 2 but she cheats on him with kayaba in season 3 (yay). his entire tiktok hashtag is either thirsty edits or people screaming at other fans for liking him. his actor likes tweets hating on him. after the finale he tweets a picture of himself on set flipping off the camera like “so long asshole i will never miss playing you” and then later he posts a picture of the whole cast and crew like “i lied i miss these guys already”

higa takeru, fan favourite smol bean. 18 but acts like a 14 year old boy. he is solely comedic relief for the most part. he’s hardcore crushing on rinko the entire series. he has a million dumb catchphrases. his Big Moment is when rinko breaks down crying in her dorm bc Boy Problems and he comforts her like “you deserve better anyway. do you wanna come sit on the roof and we can finish some beers and you can insult me again like you always do?” and she kinda laughs and follows him onto the roof and they sit there drinking and talking and he’s like “wouldn’t it be cool if we could make an entire world of ai’s?” and its this moment and its like the only time he’s serious

professor shigemura, george feeny 2.0. he sometimes drops major life advice in the middle of a lecture. he gets super invested in all his students and gives them advice and wants them all to change the world. very loving dad. yuuna makes a cameo a few times and fans adore her. any scenes with young yuuna are played by the professor’s actor’s irl daughter and it’s just super wholesome.

yuuki kouichirou, cameo character. he’s mentioned a few times in the first 2 seasons and makes a couple of cameos but fans love him and so he officially joins the cast in season 3, when he’s 19. he’s the sweet doting older brother who doubles as nobuyuki’s childhood friend. he’s never super plot relevant but he’s cute and sweet and people like him. he does a lot of fairy dance foreshadowing and his actor is like tom holland levels of accidental spoilers

in Warble Wings (scc fairy au) was going to write a fic of Leo (sunny's dad aka the King) suddenly got mad of Mark bcuz he thought he was a threat when he found out his identity. bcuz he was caught in the night and thought he's the one beating up the guards holding a bag of stolen royal family jewerly including Sunny's crown (it was misunderstood that Mark was fighting the bad guys himself and the pov went wrong)

so Leo gripped Mark face to face threatening him to put him in the dungeon and never see Sunny again (Leo was a nice but he was scary when mad)

luckily Celeste (sunny's mom aka the Queen) kept saying there must be a misunderstanding and Mark would never do such a thing to the royal family and the kingdom. then proof was given when the guards actually found the real thieves. thanks to the scc arrived to defend mark. Leo apologized from his actions towards him

I like making the ambience feel like a fairy tale. The flower palace is definitely fairy tale stuff. The romance and journey they have feels like a fairy tale; the knight and his princess, separated by the jealous guard. And while it's not a fairy tale, the deity au paired with this is super interesting. It is a tale told around the continents, the love of the sun god and the flower goddess and the water god who seeks to tear them from each other but their love is eternal. Genuinely can;t tell if it's a silly au of them combined or actually interesting, but I enjoy it a lot. It would be neat to actually try and think of like fairy tales in world. I should lmao

I have also thought some about a true fairy tale au, like them as classic fairy tales. Rapunzel would be cute, I also like little red riding hood. Misunderstood big bad wolf Vash and naive little red riding hood Gill maybe. The wolf is painted as the villain but he's actually a good dude, and he and little red fall for each other while he guides her in the woods.

Also semi relevant, fairies au. I have nothing solid for it rn, vaguely flower fairy Gill maybe light fairy Vash, but I have kinda thought about it, maybe they belong to different courts. I am probably gonna think of more.
