Can you believe there was nearly a decade on this website where one webomic owned the word update and you could see that word and immediately associate it with one work out of thousands. Can you believe people would blacklist the word update so they could filter content about one specific thing and had to live with the fact that they might also miss posts about news or sensitive situations. I think it actually manages to be both dumber and more malicious.

Yes, the React trademark controversy was terrible, and there's no way that trademark would have EVER held up in court, but it at least understood the bare minimum required to call itself a trademark in that it was actually used in commerce, and was specifically limiting use in that context.

Trying to own exclusive rights to make videos of the word "react" is really awful, again. But they at least seemed to know what a trademark was even if their claim was indefensible.

This is more like when Tom Brady tried to trademark "Tom Terrific" because he didn't want people calling him that, and thought a trademark would silence people using the nickname... which is just so not how it works at all.

(And then it turned out the nickname was more associated with Tom Seaver, leading to even more humiliation on Brady's part.)

We... may have been watching too much Legal Eagle. 😜

i'm a little late to the how i heard of kpop train but hello hello. i started in about 8th grade because i watched a watchmojo list of the 10 best kpop songs. bubble pop was like number 10 and i'm pretty sure i'm the best and electric shock were on it as well. if they weren't then they ended up on my playlist too somehow. and so for like a year and a half or something i just had 3 random korean songs on my lil ipod. and then i watched the finebros kpop react video like 3 times before actually investigating the songs myself LMAO

omg bubble pop what a classic lmao i feel like a lot of ppl end up dribbling onto kpop through random youtube videos. especially with more ppl doing reactions to kpop

i also think i have never watch a mojo video without disagreeing with most of it lmao

There's something about this tik tok that just feels like the culmination of something. Like this is a reaction video, people on tik tok do it all the time. But I don't think this is a normal thing.
