Hexel's World Tour Week 6 – Seoul

Everyone, I'm home. I know it sounds so cliche, but the moment I got off the plane in Seoul, I felt like I was coming home🇰🇷❤️. I already knew I could speak Korean, so getting through the airport and to the main city was a breeze (but can we talk about Incheon airport? It is so cool. I could literally spend a whole day at just the airport). I quickly got to my hotel in the middle of Seoul and it is way too nice. I feel like an imposter staying here hahaha.

There are some parts of the city that feel so familiar to me, even though I can't fully remember them. One day, I ended up just walking instinctively to this hole-in-the-wall kalgooksu restaurant and had the best noodle soup ever! 🍜(or I think it's the best I've ever had. It also felt so familiar!) Another place that felt super familiar was Dongdaemun and the Design Plaza. It kind of looks like a spaceship, but I knew exactly where to exit the subway station to get there. It was like instinct. The markets in Dongdaemun are so nice! They have so much fashion and accessories 👗 it was all so overwhelming. But I was able to buy gifts for Georgia while I was there

Talking about cool shops, I just wandered around Insadong for like half a day. There are so many side streets with cafes and small shops that you wouldn't even know were there unless you went to explore. From Insadong, I ended up walking to Bukchon traditional village. Both Insadong and Bukchon are known for their traditional hanok houses. And you all, I could LIVE in one of these. They're so beautiful and smell amazing like wood and paper! I found a place in one of these hanok houses called Aromind which lets you design your own perfume scent! It was so cool and I made one for Krista (hope she likes it!) 🎁

I also wrote down all the food places I loved to go with Dustin if we ever come to Seoul together, including this place that does bbq ribs DIPPED 🍖🧀 in melted cheese and a jjajangmyeon place that handrolls their noodles! I wanted to get Dustin a whole package of Hanwoo--prime Korean BBQ beef (did you know you could buy those?!)--but I was worried about getting it through customs, also, it was a lot to ship back to the US. So I got Dustin some green tea from Ossulloc 🍵, I know it's not technically food, but it's food adjacent! And their tea house in Gwanhun-Dong was so gorgeous with all the traditional ceramics and the little displays about how the teas are roasted! Plus, they're right by Jogyesa Buddhist Temple. They told me Jogyesa is the chief temple of the Jogye Order of Korean Buddhism. The building dates back to the late 14th century! And you can write your wish on a piece of paper and hang it like a little flag. All the wishes fluttering in the air were so beautiful!

I didn't mean to organize my tour around Seoul based on buying the perfect gifts for my friends, but it turned out that way. So I knew I had to find something amazing for Mac, and I did in Gangnam! That neighborhood kind of reminds me of midtown New York with all the skyscrapers and the fancy hotels and buildings. They have the flagship store to this amazing sunglasses store called Gentle Monster. But they don't just sell sunglasses, they also have amazing art displays that the store clerk told me rotates regularly! In fact, lots of the cool high fashion stores do fun artsy displays in Seoul! From there, I just popped over to Lotte World Tower and bought ALL the duty free skincare! I can't wait to try all my facemasks with the band! Apparently Lotte World Tower is the tallest building in South Korea. And they even have an aquarium in there!

Nothing beats being able to lay against a super soft, and fluffy, chest like Volt's. He enjoys every second of it since it allows him to be close to those he cares about.

Oh yeah, it is a strange tightrope to walk. It's why I'm more willing nowadays to have some form of mains list, even if it's more fluid than most expect. Once you have some anchors for your characters, in some regard, you can think of how those relationships and what's happened will influence your characters.

Let's double back to Olympia and Jade (lowhowl's Whisper). Olympia got to bond with her the most during her formative time post-transition, so when they reached a sisterly bond as the new year rolled in: Olympia grew naturally into alt fashion because it reminded her of Jade; a simple cause and effect, y'know?

So what's the most important is the relationship your muse has with another and what that'll do to them. Whether it's through notable plot progression or just because of a closer bond; it's up to the relationships your muse forms that influences further growth of their character!

Of course, this is just how I do things and it's entirely subject to how ya wanna do it yourself!

I think I’m gonna put Kass and Diego on a blog together instead of separate ones, since I’m thinking of combining their stories together. Late night ramble time ft my two other brain babies.

So because I’m a sucker for the supernatural, obviously Diego has a power. That power is the ability to see the souls of others, to destroy souls (though that takes an insane amount of energy), to collect/guide them, and to heavily influence them.

Now he’s bad at the influence part when speaking, as a lot of the time he comes off either deadpan or blunt/rude. But when it comes to singing, we’ll inflection and emotion is practically built into it, making it far easier to impart his influence. The more emotion, the stronger the push. Now this is not to say he can outright control people, not entirely. That, again is something that requires a crazy amount of energy and focus. And of course there’s drawbacks, like accidentally causing people to do things they otherwise wouldn’t for the worse, the mental and physical drain, the moral standpoint of it all.

Still, after all the abuse he’s been through, somewhere deep down he wants to help people. So, he entertains. At a club.

A club called Black Hexellence, run by non other than Kass. A goddess in disguise, hanging among mortals and offering a place of refuge for those who deserve some positivity or shelter and a trap for those that are in need of a swift punishment. It was a way to keep watch over mortals while also having a bit of fun of her own, gave her a base to work from and a place to call home.

Sure, it was a place if debauchery in a lot of ways. But it was also a place where everyone respected each other. Boundaries we’re clear, rules were simple, but firm. Spaces were made to give peace to those trying to run from a hard life. And if that peace was broken, if the balance was tipped too far, you’d quickly find out just why she was called Karma.

Diego was of course one of the many the Lady of the house took in. But he was arguably the closest to her. She knew right away something was special about him, and it didn’t take long for her to find out why, though, she did give him time to at least recover after freeing him from the grip of a slimy excuse of a man. She was patient, even when he lashed out.

And soon the two would form not only a bond, but an oath. He would be by her side, her guard dog, collecting souls to be judged and people to be helped, and in return she gave him protection and a place to call home.

They act something akin to siblings, being only a few years apart. They’re also quite a goofy pair when together, her pet names and fake flirty jokes constantly met with deadpan complaints and sassy comebacks. It’s quite obvious they care for each other.

Hexel's World Tour Week 4 - Costa Rica

Okay, you know how last week I said I was obsessed with the beaches in LA? Well, that's because I hadn't been to Costa Rica yet. You guys, it's my first INTERNATIONAL stop! And guess what! Apparently, in my past life that I'm still trying to remember, I learned Spanish because I just randomly started speaking it when I was ordering Gallo Pinto on my first night! I didn’t understand everything but people were really nice and said I did ok with my Spanish level. Anyway, I definitely want to try some other dishes here, so definitely sound off in the comments about what I should eat during my visit!

I'm glad that I checked in with the front desk people at my hotel because they told me I HAD to go ziplining. It was really scary at first, but I just squeezed my eyes shut and it felt a little like flying. I bet Krista would have loved it. Speaking of flying, there are such COOL parrots here! I managed to get one good picture! I did an eco-tour and learned a lot about the preservation efforts here in Costa Rica to save the forests and the amazing biodiversity contained here. It’s really important we all learn what we can do to help preserve our natural resources worldwide!

Even though there are so many cool places to visit here, I definitely also am taking advantage of relaxing on the beach! I think I might get some inspiration from the ocean sounds to write more music with the band once I'm back. Do you have favorite songs to listen to at the beach? Tell me what they are so I can get some inspiration!

Nora and Ambrose give Ivy a tour

This is the start of the scene. Nora tried to get Ambrose to do this on his own, but both he and Ivy balked at that idea. Nora is confused--in her memories Ambrose and Ivy seemingly just fell together practically love at first sight (note: Nora's memory is flawed. Ambrose was nice to Ivy at the start, but the two did not fall in love for nearly a year and a half; Nora just perceived his niceness as attraction and a threat).

As a compromise, Ivy asked Nora to join them for the tour. Nora agreed, secretly hoping she could use it to push the two together. Remember: Nora's plan is that since Ambrose and Ivy are inevitable, she might as well get credit for their union. If she's the cause, Ambrose can't forget her.

Anyway.

They decided to do the tour after their morning lectures on Oddel. They would have the afternoon free. Nora had chosen to arrive a few minutes late in the hope it would give Ivy and Ambrose time to talk and even bond before her arrival. Instead, both were silent. Ivy stood by one of the windows, watching the quiet street, and Ambrose waited by the door. Ivy was in a dusky pink dress with a low, gathered waist that rounded her hips. The style was simple, but the sewing immaculate. So far Ivy had worn only pink at the Academy. Nora wondered if she owned a single dress in another color. Ambrose had not changed from the morning. Normally, when they went out, he would relax a bit. Instead, he looked tense. Gabriel was on one of the couches as well and sorting through some notes or papers. Nora knew they were only an excuse so he could see them all off. He had been teasing her since Ivy’s suggestion at lunch three days ago. He grinned at Nora when she arrived and nodded toward the other two as if she could have missed the awkward silence between them. “I apologize for being late,” Nora said. Ivy startled. Ambrose’s shoulders lowered slightly and he looked at her with a smile. “That’s a point off, Ela,” Ambrose said. “Don’t call me Ela,” Nora snapped back. Then, she asked, “Wait, points? Are we competing?” The question soured in her stomach and she refused to look at Ivy. “Indeed. Miss Hexel will be our judge. Whoever is the better tour guide wins and will be treated by the other to a dessert.” Nora’s eyes narrowed. “Wait, if you and I are competing, how can you be the one to remove a point? That doesn’t seem fair.” “I suppose you do have the right to appeal my decision.” He turned to Ivy. “Miss Hexel, what say you?” “Ivy, please,” Ivy said with a smile. “I say that this competition is a surprise to me, but it sounds like fun. However, I do think we cannot add or remove points before everyone is aware of the game. Why don’t we start after we leave through the door?” “A most fair decision,” Ambrose said. He opened the door and swept his free hand out as he bowed. “Ladies.” Ivy chuckled and left the Academy. Nora flicked Ambrose’s shoulder before she left. “Fool,” she chided him. He looked up at her through his lashes, his grin warm. “It is an affliction,” he said. Nora rolled her eyes and joined Ivy outside. “So,” Nora asked. “Where shall we begin?” “Ceding to me so early in the game?” Ambrose asked. “Do you even want to win?” “Fine,” Nora said. “This way.”
