It's 11 AM and your Americano is still hot. You stare at the open Word document. It's just an essay like the thousand others you've written so far. But the page is completely empty no matter what you keep telling yourself. There are still at least 1500 words you need to register.

Focusing on the somewhat vague essay question you had been given, you fail to notice two strangers standing across the street from the cafe you're sitting in. One of them looks like he has just woken up while the other seems to be dressed for an occasion far more formal and exquisite than gossiping on the curb. Pedestrians pass them by without ever paying attention.

Initially, Dream was set on not entertaining Desire in this little sibling rivalry but the competitive relationship they shared got the best of him. Apparently, boredom has power even over the Endless. Now it wasn't a question of "if" but how to bring them down a peg or two.

"Money, power, fatal devotion..." Desire counts. "And what can you give them, dear brother? Saint Jacob's ladder?" they tease.

Neither of them tears their eyes away from you. Perhaps they enjoyed the side or simply wanted to make sure that the other doesn't try anything that could be considered cheating while they look away. Although this butting of heads can't be considered final, the two siblings considered it to be at least crucial in deciding which one of them is actually more powerful and important to humanity.

"They dream of a fairer world, a realm where not riches but ethics are put on the pedestal. I can make them a ruler. The first and last monarch of the entire world."

"Well, then. The game is on, I suppose." Desire announces with a mischievous grin on their face. They're checking their mother-of-pearls cufflinks. "But be prepared to lose."

Dream remains as he was: unkempt hair, pooling coat and hands shoved into pockets. His rigid face brightens, almost curving into a fleeting, elusive smile. "No, I don't think I will."

Still blissfully unaware of the figurative price on your head, you sip on the Americano. 1200 words left.

Random theorys/headcanons SpyxFamily

Two options:

-Loid is considering how to keep his wife and daughter now that he is close to finishing his mission, but his enemies discover his family and hurt them so that Twilight appears, making Loid make the decision to go as far away from them as possible to ensure that they are alive.

EITHER

-Loid is looking for a way to abandon Anya and Yor in the least painful way possible now that he has to leave. But there is something that makes Loid reconsider his decision to keep them.

-Anya loses Chimera because of some mistake in the laundry room in her building, Loid tries to cheer her up by all means but no matter how many walks, gifts and cakes he gives her, the girl remains depressed, once he finds out that it was a gift from her dead mother searches every garbage dump in the country for the sake of the mission.

-Loid realizes that he read thousands of books on parenting but none that talked about adopted children, so he has to look for new books and research to understand Anya's needs.

-Anya laughing out of nowhere because she heard something supremely funny from someone's head but that someone only thinks she's crazy.

- Loid already knows that Anya is a telepath, on the contrary he thinks that she is important, useful and collaborative. So they go to the Desmonds' house to talk to Donovan, Twilight has her second meeting and chats with him hoping that later Anya, who is talking about studies with Damian, tries to hear a little of what she is thinking. She tries but, she doesn't hear anything.

-Denovan has a plate of some extraterrestrial metal in his skull because he knows about the Apple project.

-The wedding ring asking, do you want to be my real wife?

-The adoption anniversary cake asking do you want to be my real daughter?

-I seriously want to see how Loid turns on a radio to listen to the news and a song starts playing and they end up dancing like they do in the ending

-An old gossip telling the Forgers that they are pampering that girl too much. But they already know that this girl was probably electrocuted until she passed out on her 3rd birthday for the sake of "world peace" they send that old woman to hell so she doesn't bother.

-Anya having to live temporarily with WISE without being able to have contact with Loid because they fear that she will find out more things that she should not know, trying to do ethical studies and investigating her legal situation since when she was born in a laboratory. Anya doesn't understand anything and just wants to go home.

-Loid realizing that she dated over 30 women pretending to love them just to get information but for the first time she wonders, is this what love feels like?

-I need to see in the manga Anya's past adoptions and if she became attached to those families.

-Franlky yelling at Twilight to stop her from staying with her family "What? And what do you think you're going to do when the girl grows up and needs $150 mascara? Or when you have to kiss another woman to complete your missions? I told you not to get attached to them! "

And Loid type: help me keep them and I'll help you get a girlfriend.

-Yor happy reflecting that she likes being a mother.

-Damian getting a tonitrus (in general it would be interesting) but imagine if it is because he unconsciously saving Anya from having another one.

-Anya feeling uncomfortable because now her parents think differently now that they know she can read minds. Probably repeating "don't think about anything" thousands of times or imagining a white wall in front of her. Yor would even imagine the murders of her with censorship and avoid her the firts hours.

-Yor is finally sent to kill Twilight, she runs away from her family to find him, and when she arrives at the battlefield she sees him and says: "Loid! What are you doing here? Go hide or Twilight might kill you! But I'll kill him first!" "I'll explain everything to you later!"

-Imagine Loid reading the files of the 007 experiment together with Anya, always leaning his shoulder on her so that she does not focus on the trauma, but rather they take the opportunity to learn important details about Ania's origins that she did not know or not remember, her date actual birthday, her mother's name, the country where she came from, photos or videos of her when she was a baby, everything so that the girl feels happy to know a little about herself to better forge your identity.

-The day Anya calls Loid dad, he will be thoughtful and recognize that He is her dad!

-Anya dealing with a bully but she doesn't dare to defend herself because she already has 7 tonitrus, but her father is there undercover as a teacher and he makes sure that those bullies are expelled by giving them 3 tonitrus, although he would hit them himself if he could.

-Loid thinks because this mission is about to end and it is being so difficult that he goes out to spend some time with Frankly, he gets carried away by his feelings, he gets drunk and without anyone questioning him he tells him crying that he loves Anya and Yor.

-Anya could gets a tonitrus for rescuing rats from a high school classroom because they were going to be cut open for vivisection, flashbacks to the lab.

-When Anya begins to say dad to Loid, he realizes that he cannot say no to that creature and wonders when that stage will end. "Dad buy me more peanuts" you got it "dad will you take me to disneyworld?" Granted "Will you buy me a pony.... dad?" Loid is desperate because he can't say no.

-One of Anya's foster families took her to a soccer stadium But she ran away immediately because damn it was the loudest place she had ever been and she would spend the entire game going in and out of unconsciousness.

-I really want to see Anya saying sad things without knowing it because she hasn't lived a normal childhood. Why do people celebrate her birthday? Have you never been electrocuted?

-Remember the episode where Loid and Yor are drinking and the bartender is listening as Yor suspects Loid's infidelity? Well, imagine him listening to the sequel, hearing a drunk Loid cry for her family because he has to leave them because her wife won't love him for cheating on her, and Frankly yelling at him that they will get a lawyer to keep the child.

Ranpo is an autistic man with intangible amount of knowledge and he cannot ethically reveal random people's secrets. Of course he tries to anyway because he is a terrible liar and he loves gossip. Ranpo spoils important information all the time and it's my favorite thing ever.

I have a whole list but my favorite is that he cannot resist pointing out Chuuya's hat every time he interacts with Chuuya.

You know... the hat on his head that is laced with a special type of metal that protects him from being given orders. The hat that was given to him by a crazed assassin that killed several people and almost killed the queen of england. That hat... Can you imagine being the only person who knows about that? Neither can he because he drops hints constantly.

Chuuya: I'm a threat, we are enemies. We have to-

Ranpo, making eye contact with Chuuya for 0.02 seconds: okay but that's a nice hat, that's a very cool hat. Can I... Can I take a picture, actually?

I like to think he brings it up randomly because i know he doesn't like knowing so many random secrets.

Ranpo: did anyone else notice the hat on that man??? Anything stand out to any of you??? Maybe,,,, maybe the fabric looked weird or...?

Yosano: Why are you so obsessed with his hat? Do you want one?

Ranpo: I already have one! No, why don't you tell me why you think i care so much and I'll tell you if you're right.

Yes... I am Tom Sturridge obsessed... I have an ethics questions...

So, I am not one for believing every bit of gossip there is online especially when nothing is really there to back it up, but there are some Celeb Blind Items about Tom that are, well, out there. I have all the respect for the man, of course. Though in saying that, respect still standing, there are some old Twitter accounts, yes accounts as in plural as I think he had multiple, that are too specific and fit in with what was going on in his life at the time and fit the timeline that it has to be him... but they are not active anymore. All of the activity stopped after 2013-2015... And I can understand why if they are him as he said some off the cuff sort of stuff... one of which was a straight up sexting Twitter... now, it could have been a roleplayer, but I don't think so because of the timeline, when the activity stopped and the fact the the offical Waiting for Forever Twitter is following that specific Twitter account.

Part of me wants to post the Twitter accounts and at least one Instagram account that fits in with the timeline too... as well as the blind items so that maybe we all can discuss... but I am having an ethics issue on that. Maybe if people what to know they can message me directly and I will send the links as I don't really want to post them for everyone else to see... also, since one is straight up 18+ I really don't want to make that link available for all.

My logic on how I think some old social media accounts might be his is this:

Between 2006-2013 was most likely him as he wasn't that famous and no one was really impersonating him yet. And he had his daughter during those years and there is some photos of him with her and Sienna that are not paparazzi photos, so Sienna or Tom had social media at the time.

Any social media accounts that were established between 2013-2016 are less likely Tom, but also could be him too... but I doubt it. I really think he may have started to distance himself from social media for the sake of his daughter and then perhaps his career too.

But then in 2017 the play 1984 happened and something made Tom basically forgo all social media and have a brick phone, so any social media after 2017 is likely not him. Honestly, if he was as salacious as his old Twitters are, it might have been a PR thing but also a thing where he wanted to protect his daughter.

Any social media established after 2017 claiming to be Tom is not him, not at all. He had a brick phone when he did 1984, he has a brick phone as of The Sandman interview where he shows off what kind of phone he has, and that is most likely this the case. Even pics that Alexa Chung had posted of Tom and her kissing are not on her Instagram anymore because I think Tom really doesn't want even his girlfriend to post anything on her social media of him. Since 2017 for sure he has not had a social media presence at all.

But yeah, ethics-wise I am not sure I should publicly post my findings, but I also want someone else to speculate with about the validity of it all.

I wanna gush about this man with people, but also get giddy over supposed gossip about this man with people... all with the upmost love and respect for him all at the same time. I am not judging him for his past, not in the slightest, but if it is at all true, it's fucking juicy. And I love it.

Louis walks a very tight rope with his public persona. Like there is just so much Louis won't talk or can't talk about. But he opens himself up in his lyrics, music and every other thing he touches. You don't even have to work hard to find it. Just open your eyes and its all there to see! Ppl desperately want him to be a celeb entertaining us, but that's all he did in 1D didn't he?

Maybe ppl are tired of hearing the same talking points but not all interviews are meant for us. Each magazine , radio station caters to their audience foremost so obviously he will repeat same things. We are tunning in to listen to a radio in Atlanta from all over the world but ppl of Atlanta are listening for the first time! So it's going to be repetitive. His promo not being directed to GP is a whole other topic. If you sit down and actually think what he can talk about in interviews besides his music it's actually a very difficult balance.

-His personal life? Well no.

-Him being a dad/bf? Puts off ppl.

-About his family? It's just too much grief.

-Industry/ celeb friends? There's no Lewis to his Niall to name drop each interview. I'm sure he has them but won't ever use them for clout.

-1D a band who was his baby? Can't, comes with too many baggage and antagonist to his solo career. That was his life for 5 yrs, so many stories to tell but he never can.

-Anecdotes? Well he should have some ready, but maybe he doesn't want to give away his personal life in the way. Again so much he can say without revealing his private life.So they choose ones where he comes across as chav. Cuz they also want to promote that indie/ rockstar image.

-Some other hobby to talk about? It's just football for now. But his team hasn't managed to incorporate that in his image to promote it. Like look at Niall with golf. That is how you do it.

Check out any celeb interview and these are the main talking points. They all spice it up by other celeb mentions cuz that brings out gossip/ makes it interesting. And this is where networking is imp. Which clearly is a problem with Louis and his team.

So instead of creating a totally fake persona, he shows us as much as he can and what he truly likes. He is not lying about anything. He is not duping us. He is just trying to be a musician and not a celebrity. And he is certainly not one dimensional. Only if you cared enough to listen what he is saying through his music, art, merch, work ethic, friendships, business practices.

some writing notes on my ishigami video

it's nice that akasaka aka points out that kaguya is very different to when she was the "ice queen" (hayasaka says this early on), and one of the first serious chapters with her that isn't about shirogane is helping ishigami study

she knows he's not lazy or disinterested because he's stupid and incapable of learning, but because his foundational learning was disrupted by his absence from middle school due to being unable to write an apology

she recognises that his games and stuff are a distraction to his studies, which is like, yeah, she is right about that since he has treated them as a crutch to bide his time.

she sticks up for ishigami to girls gossiping about him and tries to beat him into shape by helping him study every single day so he passes and recognises how the rumours, the distractions & his ethic that result from that stop him from doing well - while he doesn't magically get straight As, it's apparent that with the right support he could start to study better and while that seems like "well why does he have to? people have different strengths"

ishigami used to be athletic (being the fastest runner in his year), and while he wasn't a top ranked student or anything like that, his traumatic experience in middle school and the rumours that resulted from it definitely drive his disinterest with studies to be far worse than that. which is why having kaguya in his corner for numerous exams is so nice cause while she cares about defeating shirogane in exams, she doesnt place that desire above the real possibility that ishigami could fail to graduate and while he doesn't need a job or even money because of his dad, it also means he would be even more isolated and unable to connect with people his age. everyone is talking about their futures, their grades, their exams, and ishigami is more or less absent from that kind of idle banter

studying is a pretty social activity for some people, they make study groups for exams, chill at study hall and whatnot and idk, ishigami is barely involved in student life in the beginning so going from studying to avoid failing, to joining a club, to actually trying to enjoy his days as a kid since he's still only 15 (16 by the time the seniors graduate), he starts to appreciate it at the perfect time

when it comes to ethic and stuff like that i think people are quick to call others lazy and stuff cause of our preconceptions about them, but ishigami would still be worth helping even if he had no trauma or history that made it difficult to learn i think.

i think that the way that things are structured arent suited to the needs of people who struggle to learn, and the ways that they can catch up aren't even like actual failsafes built into schools and universities either. that you can't really catch up and succeed in school if you miss any classes and get someone's notes or something means that if you sit outside of the social structure of it, you are just doomed to fail if you miss anything at all and have nobody to ask and your professor is unhelpful about it

idk, that arc was really nice and im glad it expands to ishigami gradually becoming more motivated to study, not just to impress his crush, but because kaguya believed that there was hope for him in his academics where he had more or less all but given up for three years.

you dont have to have good grades to have self-worth but its more about integrating back into school life that's really hard for him - you don't really have to reconcile it with your beliefs about school as an institution for getting a job cause that's not really relevant to his personal circumstances. ishigami is rich, he don't need a job, he just wants to overcome his inferiority complex and trauma to just, have a normal school life. its not about what comes next per se, but making sure that the life that he lives now is one where he is not afraid to do things. whether he comes to regret what he does, it's much worse to live a life where you never take risks and just resign yourself to the box people shoved you into

he talks badly of normies and people with success in romance, clubs and academics because part of him wants to have the courage to do the same but its just easier to call yourself human trash and joke about killing yourself a lot for him.

when he talks about miko during the elections, he expresses how much he hates it when people talk shit about people who do their best like passion is something you can laugh at, and internally, he recognises this is hypocritical when he joins the cheer club that he dismisses their passion as bullshit so he puts himself in uncomfortable situations to start walking the path to becoming the fucking goat

most things that will help you grow are excruciating, long-winded habit building exercises that will help you endure in the long run and that's why it's so fucking cathartic to see him continually take steps to better his life as things go on

he doesn't magically get rewarded for making his life one that he feels proud of, but in doing so, he experiences the rewards of coming out of his shell and moving from self-deprecating introvert gag guy to someone with better emotional expression and ability to connect with others, someone who actually knows he doesn't deserve to live life in isolation, without antyhing to be proud of. he doesn't just get handed unearned Ws, he has plenty of fumbles and awkward experiences, but to be able to endure that and keep living with his head held high surrounded by people he confidently calls his friends is just pure kino

I know Lewis and Nalu have been associated before, but haven’t they been linked to other people too, this year?

(Lewis with Shakira I seem to recall?)

And yeah, Nalu was also seen with other controversial people around, I think she had some beef because she was dating her friend’s ex or something (?)

I just can’t put my finger on what is going on honestly, I knew Lewis was going to be in Brazil because he’d mentioned he’d be in a recent interview, but him hanging out with Nalu seems more like PR press (maybe with some benefits, I mean good for him) to me.

What seems strange to me is how, with the certain image he’s always very careful to present himself with, his entourage can’t pair him up with less shady or controversial people, just my thoughts.

I mean, let's be blunt here, Lewis fucks. He might not be loudly proclaiming it to the world everytime he does it, or going Instagram Official with everyone he gets close with for more than a few months, but it's unlikely he's completely chaste just because he doesn't have a public, visible significant other... and for someone with his fame and bank balance and control over his public image, it absolutely makes sense that that might casually be the same person because it gives him a certain level of trust... and I can definitely see that arrangements like that could be mutually beneficial, especially in this Instagram age where any vague association to a celebrity brings followers and followers bring financial benefits.

Lewis' love life has always been speculated about, and I know there's a lot of rumours about certain individuals he's seen with regularly. Some of them I can buy into, some of them I think are just PR or wishful thinking. Honestly... I don't think there was ever anything between him and Shakira 🤫

She's definitely been linked to a few scandals, and looking at it as purely a PR arrangement then it definitely does make it seem weird, but then again taking a step back from it, it's entirely possible that he just... genuinely likes her. There's a weird sanitation of Lewis's character that goes on, like he's incapable of error and bad judgement. Lewis associates with ALOT of questionable people despite his publicised ethics and I think he largely gets a pass for a lot of it, but then I think it's part of a larger and much more complex discussion for our terminally online times about what makes a 'good person' and who exactly gets to decide who that applies to, and can you associate with 'bad people' and still be a good person..? (this is getting heavy, ill bring it back to the idle gossip 🤣)

So yeah, I'm guessing it's more of a casual hook up thing, at the most a soft launch. Lewis has always had a messy side so it shouldn't really be a surprise that he hangs around with other messy people and I think people only get shocked by it because he's put on a bit of a pedestal at times? I think a lot of the drama comes from the weird societal expectations that everyone should be in committed long term relationships and that platonic friendship is gender specific. Maybe they're just friends and he caught up with her cos he was in the area?!

mood: for when I need respite, a balm to the all-consuming shittiness of life

includes: fluff, comfort, low-stakes, slow-burn fics. a wistful look, a rainy morning, an unexpected grace, a stupidly disarming joke. i could live inside these fics. the smallness of human lives removed from the site of that which hurts & irreparably changes. the story-equivalent of a deep breath after a long day. pregnant silences & pensive mundanity & shy smiles. banter with bite but without the cruelty. the color lavender. weirdly whimsical. soft fics are not necessarily conflict-averse (no drarry fic rly can be, considering the context) but, they offer the reader a generous distance from the initial harm. they’re the quiet cleaning up after a storm. sometimes healing is an exacting surgical knife and other times it’s a slow scabbing. you read these fics to be reassured that the way forward is not always ruthless. and honestly?? they deserve a semblance of peace godDAMmit.

The Way Down by @letteredlettered - 65k - T “and I thought that if someone talked to you as though you were a human being you might—maybe you could act like one” --the way i think about this line daily. the characterization of draco in this fic is one my favorites bc he’s earnest and neurotic and tired of harry’s shit. which is to say, he cares so so much. and harry doesn’t know what to do with that bc he’s got a monster in his chest and lives as a recluse. but they both humanize each other in ways no one else can. “you’re just a person” has to be some kind of drarry ethics of belonging and it makes me CRY. -

Maybe you just get to have it anyway. . .I’m allowing myself to want something and to let myself have it and to fight for it.” --harry runs a daycare and also works at a library. draco spends a lot of time in said library. they bond over sci-fi books and therapy anecdotes and quiet philosophical conversations held over cafeteria soup. and harry’s struggling to understand his asexuality. draco’s learning how to live with anxiety and depression. they both want to be deserving of love. incredible fic with beautiful art by dustmouth. -

Easy things.” --this shit makes me cry it’s so good. harry lives in Ireland with these three brilliant, hilarious, wandless witches and draco’s a potions student who's come to study under one of the housemates and the boys have so much shit to work through but their love becomes so tender and honest. draco yells at harry a lot and harry lets him and they both keep each other grounded in something real and fuCK. - Divination for Dickheads - 7k - G: “I’m terrible at having crushes. I’ve never played anything cool a day in my life.” -- oh harry, we knOW. a bus ride, a fortune teller, an aquarium birthday party. god i love this fic. -

Modern Love by @tackytigerfic - 61k - E “But we’ve worked so hard at this, haven’t we? Yeah, I know it’s a horror to have to talk about it, but fuck it. We’re friends now, but it took so long to get here. Have you ever had to work so hard at something before?" --the steady blossoming of their friendship in this fic is so goddamn beautiful i want to yell. it’s draco and harry learning to trust each other and the whole thing unfolds so slowly, in this whimsical mix of london streets, wizarding politics, church halls feat. a Hot vicar, and a magical antique shop owner who’s married to literal poseidon?? goD the environment of this fic. immaculate. Follow the Water by @xanthippe74 - 38k - T “Harry’s heavy thoughts lift at the sight, like dark clouds blown away from the sun by the wind. The tent doesn’t feel so cramped and stifling now. It feels cozy. And safe. Going Postal (A 125pg comic) by dustmouth - T what. a. beautiful. ass. comic. the wizarding fashion, the textures, the character design!! harry travels a lot for his job as a resourcer. draco works in the regulations dept. they pine like a bunch of lovesick idiots via field report notes. god i love dustmouth’s art. -

All the Earnest Young Men by @tepre - 29k - E “Draco is twenty-seven layers of personality wrapped up in drama and humour, and a wit so sharp it still stings when he doesn’t see it coming. But there is something below that, too. Something that makes Harry ache just looking at him.” --the way i would lay down my little life for tepre’s characterization of draco, whom invented the word earnest. he’s a magical art theory expert and portraits are disappearing all over London and harry’s the auror assigned to this case. and well. they’re both so very avoidant about how gay they are for each other and it’s like!! shutup and kiss!! which they do in fact, shutup and kiss. -

Trenches by sara_holmes - 3k - M “Somewhere in the distant part of his mind that hasn't frozen solid, he thinks that maybe he and Draco are about to become more than auror partners, smoking buddies, wine-mates and co-inhabitants of a snow filled trench somewhere in western Scotland.” --the plot line here is literally “it’s cold and i need a fucking cigarette” but let me tell you how I never tire of the shared loaded-silences of two emotionally repressed gays. -

helloooo!! i didn't do a fic rec last month because i was so busy with my exams and barely had time to read, so this month's post is going to comprise of mostly fics i've read in june but also some i've read in may.

Nick leans over. "Oh," he says, his voice smug. "Who is that?"

Harry just blinks at his phone. "Um," he manages to stammer out.

"Who's that, Harry?" Nick asks again, but this time he raises his eyebrows and smirks. Harry knows Nick is just teasing, and that he's not really looking for new Harry Styles gossip, but, um. He might have found something. Accidentally.

Harry opens his mouth to speak, but all that comes out is another 'um'. He really needs to work on translating his thoughts into words. But then it probably wouldn't be any help right now, would it? His mind is as blank as a newly erased etch-a-sketch.

"Oh," Nick says again, this time gleefully, seemingly having picked up on Harry's distress. "Looks like we've got a story here! Are you going to call or delete her number?"

Her number. So Nick thinks it's a girl. Well, Harry can't blame him: 'Lou' is kind of an androgynous nickname. His stylist's name is Lou.

But this Lou, well, Louis, he's kind of, really, really not a girl. He's really pretty though, which, is something.

(Or: AU where Harry's in One Direction, Louis isn't, and they reconnect over a game of 'Call or Delete'.)

note: this was so funny and cute and well written, and everyone was characterized so perfectly!! i adored the chemistry between louis and harry, this fic kept me smiling for the whole time while i was reading <3

“Do you want to hear the heartbeat?”

Louis watches as Harry’s face falls with the realization that this is one of those things he won’t be able to experience. For a second, Louis considers saying no, to show Harry they’re truly on the same boat through all of this. But he nods in the end, reaching over for Harry’s hand as the doctor flips a switch. Noise fills the room then, and it takes a few seconds for the sound to become clear enough for Louis to make out the baby’s fast heartbeat.

“It’s really fast,” he voices his thoughts out loud as he uses his thumb to tap against the back of Harry’s hand, replicating the rapid rhythm of the baby’s heartbeat. It takes the younger man a little while to figure out what Louis’ doing, but a huge grin breaks out on his face as soon as he does.

“Is that them?” He signs with the other hand, his own eyes starting to tear up when Louis nods.

OR: Harry is deaf, Louis is pregnant. They figure it out.

note: i'm not a fan of mpreg or kid fics in general, but i stumbled across the fic post for this on my dash and the summary sounded really intriguing to me, so i had a go at reading and it did not disappoint!! it was really sweet and fluffy but also so touching and heartbreaking in some parts. plus, i really enjoyed how harry and louis worked together and supported each other.

“Hiii, I called earlier about the dogs?” he asks, taking a few steps closer to the desk where Louis is standing. He’s taller than Louis, with a dimple when he smiles and bright green eyes. There's a cute eagerness about his whole presence. “Do you have any puppies?” He’s a bit like a puppy himself, actually.

AU. Louis works at an animal shelter and Harry wants a puppy. Things don't go quite according to plan.

note: this was so so adorable and soft, especially since i have a soft spot for h&l with pets. i also have a soft spot for h&l being oblivious lovesick idiots and this was perfect!!

•° — all i see is you, lately by @runaway-train-works 2k | G | first meetings

Harry noticed him for the first time three months ago. He couldn’t not, really, what with the man being so pretty and all, and Harry remembers it well because it was three days before his birthday and he had joked to himself that seeing someone so gorgeous for three days on the trot must be an early present from the Gods.

The one where Harry has a crush on a fellow commuter.

note: this one was quite short but so sweet and perfect and lovely!!

•° — the things i'd do to wake up next to you by orphan_account 36.1k | M | amnesia fic

AU. Harry wakes up to a pregnant Louis Tomlinson and a wedding band on his finger.

note: this fic was incredible, i'm always up for an amnesia fic and this one was heart-breaking and realistic but also sweet and fluffy as well :)

•° — this glorious mess by theweightofmywords 14.2k | M | post-breakup

His head lolls to the side, and his eyes float open to focus on what used to be his bedside table.

It’s empty now, devoid of the framed photo of the two of them. And Louis knows that he has no right to feel hurt, but somehow, this only confirms what this really is.

“This is the last time,” he cries, his voice breaking both from pleasure and pain.

“I know, baby,” Harry breathes, burying his face in Louis neck.

note: this is the third mpreg-centric fic i've read this month and... i don't even like mpreg?? but god the premise of this fic intrigued me so much, and it was lovely and emotional and beautifully written.

•° — BLAH BLAH BLAH there's a moment you know (you're f*cked) by @mercurial-madhouse 3.2k | M | spy au

Anyone impulsive enough to betray their country is either foolish or overly-confident. Louis’s too cunning for the former. So his inflated ego tips precariously close to the edge between pride and hubris. In sum: He may be an expert, (as proven by the .32-cal Beretta Alleycat Harry found strapped to his back) but ex-agent Louis Tomlinson will explode like a busted bullet misfiring in a broken gunbarrel if Harry can find his trigger.

Facing the fact that he’s been prioritizing his career over his relationship, Harry proposes to his longtime boyfriend Louis on a whim. But when yet another work emergency takes precedence over their plans, Louis decides he’s had enough. Harry goes to bed drunk and alone, and when he wakes, he finds himself in an entirely different world. Over and over again, Harry visits a lifetime he’s once lived, across time and dimensions. And wherever there’s a Harry Styles, there’s a Louis Tomlinson.

note: this was such a unique fic! and such an emotional one too, love the message it sends and the character arc and development was so good

When Louis was born to Jay Tomlinson with a tiny 2 years on his clock, it starts the most beautiful love story. Even if things are missed, fate finds a way to make it work.

note: this was just so, so cute and fluffy and sweet! i loved it

•° — baby baby, you're a caramel macchiato by @missandrogyny 3.2k | T | coffee shop au

So, yeah, Harry doesn't think it's that far of a stretch to call himself a good barista. There are some particularly bad ones, and some particularly good ones, and, with his work ethic, his skill, and his charm, he'd probably be lumped in with the latter group.

note: this was so lovely, and i especially really loved the little section talking about louis' name and how it suits him!

No, that was going to be the day after, when he finally got to start his marriage. Unfortunately his family (and Louis) have other ideas.

Featuring a pair of moms who only want the best for their kids, meddling sisters with too much time on their hands, and a groom who gets caught up in the fairytale.

note: i adore this fic!! it's so so so adorable and so soft and well written, and you can feel how in love h&l are with each other. so so good!

there are many things louis likes to tell himself. we broke up for a reason. it's been so many years. and of course, the classic: i’ve definitely moved on from him. but when he suddenly finds harry back in his life after three years, louis realizes he might be a little less moved on than he thought.

au; spilling coffee onto an ex, being set up on dates, and having a nosy puppy might be all louis needs to find love again

Honestly, one of the WORST things about the Gossip!Dan reveal to me is that it’s damn near impossible nowadays to explore the moral ambiguities already present in Dan’s character without the “Dan is Gossip Girl!”/general season 6 stuff seeping in and polluting the discourse. The duality between Dan wanting to be this upright beacon of morality in the ethically derelict world of the Upper East Side versus the way he’s so easily drawn in by its most morally dubious residents (Georgina, Chuck, and - to a certain extent - Blair, namely) and the lifestyles they live… Like the whole “Dan is no longer baby! Dan wants power!” thing from season 6 never worked for me, because power was absolutely not what Dan had ever sought from the “shadier” parts of the UES, but rather love. Friendship. Acceptance. Dan tried to position himself above the Upper East Siders, but unlike someone like Vanessa who truly did not give a fuck what those rich brats thought of her, Dan absolutely fucking did. I just can’t see Dan, the way he was originally written, ever selling out his friends and loved ones for success or power - 2x05 and 2x10 entirely exist to refute that notion. On the other hand, I think 2x05 provides a great basis for what a “Dan gets corrupted!” arc could actually look like if done well - one can imagine what might have happened had the strange friendship between Chuck and Dan not been broken by the end of that episode, and had Dan continued being so heavily under Chuck’s influence. I just think that if Dan were going to go “dark” for any reason, it would ultimately be out of love and loyalty to those less-than-savory characters in his life that he formed attachments to, not any of the reasons presented in season 6.

oh yeah, absolutely!!! you said it SO well. dan is not the kind of guy who would write scathing exposés and twist the knife in your back. dan is the kind of guy who would look the other way when something bad happens if a person he loved was the one who did the bad thing! dan hates conflict, dan fears abandonment..... why on earth would he instigate those two things deliberately for himself? nobody can make this make sense to me.

interestingly, part of this is a thing i've always thought dan AND nate both have in common - both of them want to see the good in people, often to an extent that ends up being dangerous for themselves & the people around them, or makes them vulnerable. whoever it is, whatever it is.... both dan and nate do their utmost to help other people when people come to them in distress, which is by itself a good trait! but in BOTH of them, it manifests in a sort of disregarding of their own boundaries, a sort of putting their needs aside/seeing themselves as less important than the person they're helping. it isn't necessarily a saviour complex as much as it is a "i don't want anyone to feel as shitty/lost/helpless as i once did", but it's also very interesting that neither of them afford themselves this same courtesy.

but yeah, dan really, really wants to be loved & accepted. serena is the first person we see giving him that (not including his family & vanessa.) chuck sort of gives him that in the worst possible way - chuck hates dan, but it's fine, because dan lets chuck treat him disrespectfully and doesn't see anything wrong with it, maybe because dan's own sense of self-worth is so fucked. "hey, chuck bass compared me to a plague rat, but at least he's talking to me, right?" oh, dan. i'm so fucking sorry, dude.

then there's nate, who is just, in canon, platonically the one person who, so easily, fits into dan's life and who makes space for dan to fit into his? i mean. they have a don draper pact. they watch tv together, it's canon! they play video games together canonically too! & unlike with serena, and later, with blair, the fact that they don't have romantic history hanging over them means they never really have to navigate figuring themselves out as exes and all that messy stuff. like. they're best friends, unconditionally! (hilariously, this is why i ship them, among other things. if you have a friendship that strong.... it's a good base for a romantic relationship. and like, the romantic spark was there. fuck sparks, it was a whole firecracker.)

and of course, there's blair. dan's relationship with blair is the prime example of this, of him being validated for all these niche little things about himself and being with someone who is just as extra as him in similar ways, who has a lot of opinions on literally everything, etc. and blair appreciates him and supports him and sure, she didn't say she loved him, but the way she treated him & looked at him was proof enough.

acting as if serena was the gateway to all these relationships is a pretty big disservice to dan, who knocked on chuck's door on his own (sweetie WHY), who befriended nate of his own accord, and while he and blair DID team up to help serena, their whole s4 arc is about them connecting authentically in a way that has nothing to do with serena. so the retcon in s6 of "there is no winning without serena"... meh.

there's also the discussion we HAVE to have about how evil!serena of s5 kind of set the stage for a LOT of, uh. stuff that wouldn't have happened otherwise. dan lashing out and hurting everyone around him the way he does in the first few episodes of s6.... is not that unbelievable, if you believe that serena essentially took advantage of him & filmed him without his consent the way she did in the s5 finale... which i don't. i don't think serena would do that to anyone, and i definitely don't think serena would do that to dan.

but yeah, idk!! i have nothing else to say. it's really sad that they went all "dan wants power over everyone else & serena wants attention all the time and neither of them will stop at anything to get it!" because like. that's not dan, and that's not serena. & i think it's really sad that that's what derena became, by virtue of being in a show as terribly written as this one :(
