Kiana of Cintra was a failure.  She failed at producing magic the way her sister had, she failed at being the princess her mother wanted, and when the time came to save her niece from the hands of Nilfgaard she had failed at that too.  Queen Calanthe had charged her own daughter with the safety of Pavetta’s child and Kiana had lost her amongst the madness and chaos of Cintra’s fall.  A chaos her mother had spent trying to help her daughters master after that fateful feast.  Kiana of Cintra was a failure. but Kya the Woodwitch was not.  Kya provided the people of Novigrad with their herbal remedies and soothing cures. Kya smiled and shared stories with the merchants decorating their tables and selling their wares.  It was Kya who healed them with what little magic she possessed, and it was Kya who took in the Witcher and his Bard when they’d been injured.  Kya who froze instantly upon hearing the name Geralt of Rivia.  Kya, who was now forced to return to the life she’d known before the fall, as the Witcher and his Bard escort her back to Cintra in the hopes of passing her off as the missing Princess Kiana to earn their coin.  The meeting feels more like chance than anything, but the threads of destiny are at work, drawing Geralt of Rivia and Kiana of Cintra closer together than ever before.

Alissa was born into nothing, just as she was made from nothing. But she is only ten years old when Tissaia de Vries finds her on the border of Redania, with no memory of how she got there except she knew she was running. She was always running. From what, she did not know, but she knew that if it caught up with her, her life would be over. So Alissa follows the mage to Aretuza, and finds that no matter how far she escapes, her past always catches up with her.

Meera was born under a curse. The black sun loomed high over her mother the day of her birth, and she’d been paying for it ever since. Her only saving grace seemed to be nomadic Witchers who had taken her in, teaching her the tricks of the trade until she was just as deadly as any of them. A female witcher is unheard of, and Meera plans to keep it that way.

Calista was born into royalty. The second daughter of Queen Calanthe and the Dragon of Cintra, Calista was free to roam as she saw fit, following in her mother’s footsteps of becoming one of the greatest generals the Kingdom had ever seen. But when Nilfgaard attacks her home and she and her niece are separated by unforeseen circumstances, Calista refuses to play puppet monarch and turns to the only person she has left. Geralt of Rivia.

Three women born into three different circumstances yet connected by the ever tightening thread of fate. Their lives forever weaving into one another, creating a tapestry that ties their lives, and the fate of their kingdoms, together.

Livitha played a pivotal role in the attack and eventual fall of Cintra alongside her lover, Cahir. Once, Petra is brought to their side, she becomes the young princess' defacto parental figure/mentor. She is blindly loyal to the cause of The White Flame. Petronella of Cintra — The Spare Cub. Petronella Elen Adalia Calanthe, best know as Petra of Cintra, is the fraternal twin sister of Cirilla of Cintra. As the mirror of her father, she was often cast out and disfavored in place of her sister. Due to this, she became filled with spite and was easily manipulated into joining the cause of The White Flame by her friend the court mage, Vincen, despite not knowing it's true meaning. Petra is used by Emhyr to help track down, Ciri. Vincen of Blaviken — The Mage. The formidable apprentice of Vilgefortz, Vincen was best known for offering his services to the court of Cintra. Unbeknownst to anyone, his true loyalties rested with Nilfgaard and its new Emperor. His task was to gain Princess Petra's trust enough to have her surrender to Emhyr, one that he easily succeeded in. He is not loyal entirely loyal to Nilfgaard or the cause of The White Flame. More so, he is merely enticed by the idea of power.

Princess Catarine, daughter of King Dagorad and Queen Adalia, was not the lioness that her sister was. Though only two years her senior, Calanthe proved from a young age to be a leader and a fighter with a cunning mind to match, while Catarine trailed behind, forever trapped in her sister’s overwhelming shadow. And when their father passed, and Calanthe was anointed Queen of Cintra at the age of fourteen, it was in that shadow that Catarine remained, unseen and unremembered... until one year later, when Tissaia de Vries arrived at their doorstep to claim her. Against her sister’s wishes, Catarine agreed to go to Aretuza with the sorceress, sinking her claws into the opportunity and refusing to let go.

And it was there that, for the first time in her life, Catarine thrived, working day and night to hone her powers into a weapon as sharp and deadly as any sword, discovering and unleashing her own cunning, wicked mind, and forging friendships that would last a lifetime. And years later, when returning to Cintra, it was not a meek little lamb that stood before the queen, but a powerful lioness in her own right. 

Luck, Catarine thought, was what had brought Tissaia to her that day, luck for a girl who had never known its favor. 

And when a feast thrown in Pavetta’s honor ends with a witcher gaining her unborn daughter as a Child Surprise, she thinks nothing of it. When she crosses paths with that witcher again and grows close to him, she thinks nothing of it. And when she and her closest friend, Yennefer, get entangled in the witcher and his bard’s lives once again, still, she doesn’t give it any thought.

It isn’t until Nilfgaard invades Cintra and places her, Geralt, Yennefer, and Ciri onto the same interconnected path that Catarine begins to realize that it was not luck after all that brought them together- but fate.

Literally, "being of Venus [i.e., copper]." A Helmontian pharmaceutical. The Soedergren sisters lacked ambition. That's what Tissaia de Vries had prophesied from their meek demeanor as children, it's what Nenneke had read from their deceitful eyes, what the other sorceresses of Aretuza mocked them for. But while this would be true about Marti, the infamous seductress, her sister Ane knew differently: When for long others suspect you to be one thing, they become the most unsuspecting. That's the time to turn yourself around and make use of their blindness. Instead of turning to court politics, she built her reputation among the lowly and the outcast of the world—among hedge witches and healers, rogue mages, ancient druids, the hunted Elves, Witchers and gangsters, because through reputation came capital, and capital opened doors to knowledge. And knowledge? Knowledge was power. Two things nobody would ever expect to come out of an alchemy shop, let alone such an acrid one, placed inconveniently yet with careful consideration in the midst of the Lacehalls of Novigrad. And so Ane Soedergren, the famed Alchemist, the Spider of Redania, kept shop and she meddled; till she meddled herself into a powerplay most unexpected, learning of an ancient prophecy which supposedly should bring an end to the age of insatiable men—a thing she wasn't quite sure she disapproved of as much as most. [AN: I'm well aware one of the gifs had been saved wrong and doesn't loop, but honestly this set sucked the life out of me and I have no energy to fix it.]
