Am sat ready to cry because I couldn't bring myself to fiddle with the coins needed to go buy a wee drink. So now I'm home. Drink less.
#bc if i buy it with coins it wont effect my bank account#and i dont have to feel guilty about spending it on something i dont really need#but i feel bad anyway bc im handing over three dollars worth of coins and that so so horrible#bc then the worker has to fiddle with coins and they all hate that#so now ill just live forever with three dollars worth of coins in my purse for a drink ill never get bc im too anxious apparently#i hate my life#what part of this is meant to be worth living for#if i werent leeching off the generocity of my parents id be dead in a ditch somewhere i know it

Random question I just thought about, who do you think would be the best gift giver?
I have no idea what this is specifically about, but presumably related to cookie run? If there was a specific topic/characters about that, feel free to send me another more specific ask.
otherwise I'll presume this is ether related to the holiday cookies, or the Ancient Heroes. (As I saw a tumblr poll on the tag today, with that specific topic. )
For the holiday cookies Eggnog is probably canonically the best. I like to think Strawberry Creme is fairly good at figuring out/obtaining specific gifts, do to his unique lifestyle. He knows things that others might not know, and could probably find things that aren't available in shops. Like certain plants you can find in the forest.
For the Ancient Heroes, i'm torn between Pure Vanilla and Golden Cheese Cookie. Pure vanilla is someone who pays attention to his friends wants and feelings, and thus would probably be able to pick out some really good gifts. Golden Cheese is someoen who tends to give a lot of extravagent gifts, and has the strange storyline tying greed and generocity together. so I imagine she's great at gift giving too, though most of her gifts are high monetary value ones. While pure vanilla looks like the one who would give useful things, and possibly small handmade items.

Mauss's most influential work is his Essay sur le don (1923–24; English translation: The Gift. Forms and functions of exchange in archaic societies, 1954), a comparative essay on gift-giving and exchange in "primitive" societies. On the basis of empirical examples from a wide range of societies, Mauss describes the obligations attendent on gift-giving: the obligation to give gifts (by giving, one shows oneself as generous, and thus as deserving of respect), the obligation to receive them (by receiving the gift, one shows respect to the giver, and concommittantly proves one's own generocity), and the obligation to return the gift (thus demonstrating that one's honor is - at least - equivalent to that of the original giver). Gift-giving is thus steeped in morality, and by giving, receiving and returning gifts, a moral bond between the persons exchanging gifts. At the same time, Mauss emphasizes the competitive and strategic aspect of gift-giving: by giving more than one's competitors, one lays claim to greater respect than them, and gift-giving contests (such as the famous North-West Coast Native American potlatch), are thus common in the ethnographic record. In this work, Mauss thus lays the foundation for a theoretical understanding of the nature of social relations.
