Strawberry Tarts and Other Love Languages <3

This is inspired by Strawberry Tarts by the wonderful @the-nameless-ramekin !! I can't recommend this fic enough (seriously I'm insane about it. Clearly.)

Rambling & such under the cut :3

When I say I'm INSANE about this fic, I mean it so entirely. I leave like. Thesis-length comments on every chapter, to the point that other readers have lowkey called me out in their comments (I was thrilled to notice this btw, it made my day lol).

I've been meaning to make art for it for SO LONG but I just never got around to it. When I DID have the chance my carpal tunnel was really bad and I didn't want to risk making it worse.

Technically I. Still didn't have time for this. But by God I MADE THE TIME. Every single chapter (especially the treyrid and silbek ones 🤞) drives me crazy in the best way possible.

This is genuinely one of the most beautifully written, silly, funny fics I've ever read. And I've been reading fics since I was like ? 8 ?? Point is I've read A LOT. And this is EASILY in the top 3 best fics I've read.

This piece was also a huge life saver- 2024 has been off to a rough start so far but Strawberry Tarts, and working on this when I was stressed over the last week, has been super great for de-stressing and keeping my head about me.

I'm not going to go TOO crazy about it here (to save a bit of face for myself LMAO), but genuinely. Go read it. PLEASE. I can't recommend it enough.

Answering your questions and comments! Pt2

This is for most of the anon questions I got!

I actually haven’t considered that! Part of me wanted to say accents aren’t a thing in Unova, but then I remembered the infamous nugget bros...and their catchphrase “nuggetabout it!” It just makes me wish every single character in Unova was heavily accented in all variations. But to answer the question, I haven’t given it any thought at all so I can’t say!

I’ve answered this before I think? But my point remains the same. My art of them features them exclusively in a platonic way! However, I don’t mind the ships, and I don’t mind people seeing it in such a way. I get comments all the time where people joke about “Elesa and her two malethings + her gf Skyla” Hell even I joke about it sometimes. But it’s all in good fun.

I love all this Ramses love. He IS the best and you’re both 100% correct!!

OKAY. I’ll be cynical for a second: From what I’ve noticed (this is a small observation, not a factoid) I think a lot of submas fans are new to Pokemon…so are maybe not used to gamefreak being huge disappointments yet. 😩 in my experience, they tend to drop lore or plot points and then ignore them for years.

I have no expectations for the sake of not getting my hopes up for nothing. ;-; though, it would be wonderful considering the themes. Even a subtle nod would make the submas tag trend on twitter without a doubt LOL

EEEEE! I haven’t had the chance to draw up more big gay unovan family stuff yet, but Im glad its enjoyable to other gen 5 lovers. I do love imagining all region characters knowing each other in some way. 🥰 everyone has differing opinions on ingo and emmet but they can agree unanimously they are little weirdos.

Hahah, I haven’t really given it much thought, but I genuinely believe that three of them are some of the toughest trainers in Unova. I would say they got far enough to reach victory road. The twins’ talent speaks for themselves being battle facility bosses, but Elesa is nothing to sneeze at either. Since i like to HC them as childhood friends, it only feels fitting that Elesa was not only able to keep up with the twins, but probably bested them several times.

Maybe some daaaayyy….i love Adaman’s design (even if wayyy to many of the charcters are wayyy to pale eeergh)

Im always thinkin to myself i need to have comic ideas in order to draw certain characters. But I forget I can just … draw them……without giving them a reason to be. SO maybe someday haha! Im glad you like the way I drew him though lol!

It’s not so much that its canon (don’t believe much has been confirmed about them except they are clown inspired and have receding hairlines) but it’s apparent and obvious. I would dare say it’s not even debatable, but with these sort of headcanons, you have to consider that the people that feel strongly about it are more likely autistic themselves and therefore know more about the subject.

I recommend reading posts by @/1863-project! They go into detail about every detail and honestly it’s allowed me to learn a lot about how to write the characters!

Im not very fashion forward myself, but I try to have fun with it. And when I draw them, i have unspoken hc for when they dressed themselves or when Elesa had an opinion.

I did draw them doin the based ball once…

But honestly, I don’t particularly think any of them is huge on sports apart from maybe getting excited by extension.

Unless of courss battling considered a sport?

Personally. I don’t think either of them gets mad often. Frustrated, annoyed, and cranky maybe…but all the way angry?

Kind of interesting to think about. I’m unsure if I’d describe it as scary. More so intimidating because it’s so rare to witness!

I’m reminded of how passively Ingo handled Melli’s fuckery…his customer service voice fell back in time with him. It can be attributed to his politeness, but it certainly takes a great level of patience. So yeah, honestly, I think Ingo would never allow anyone to see him completely angry. Similarly for Emmet, even though he does tend to be more expressive.

Hello, this is going to be long :). going anonymously because I don’t want to be attacked by Mel,her fans or friends.

I was a huge supporter of her in her pastel asriel days. She was a huge inspiration to me and I loved her style so much I wanted to even copy it, I even made fan art of her and her OCs. I was there when she made NSFW of her characters and Omi. I was there when she randomly started saying that the earth was flat, I was there when she included r*pe in her storyline then made a “funny” video about it on her second channel ,i was there when she randomly started claiming she was a Cis gendered boy who was pretending to be a girl online (????idk either my memory is fuzzy but it was def a thing she did, even spoke about it on her old tumblr page) was there when she was publicly humilating herself when Omi and her first broke up (which I think made Omi feel incredibly guilty), I was there when she would be rude to people inspired by her and made a whole video/animation about it, I was there for all her darkest eras and shit she would spew infront of her fans and at people. but of course, this is all old and she was young right? Sure ig it could be excused. When I was young, I knew it was wrong some of the stuff she did wasn’t right but bc I looked up to her so much when I was like 13, I ignored it.

I Took a break from animation memes in 2020- to mid 2022 and now that I’m back, I find out that she’s the same weirdo and I guess she hasn’t changed. Seems like she hasn’t apologized for her past behaviors. She denies everything that was said on that WiKi was false, even though there is evidence, she lied about SA, which was a huge wake up call for me, she has a huge ego, she talks shit about people infront of her fans subtly in her server and thinks we don’t notice. Then she throws shade at people in both server AND her discord status, her friend (that pekopeach person or whatever) randomly accusing luvu for “copying” then deleting their comment. not to mention on her streams she subtly disses her past friends, Omi and luvu and it’s genuinely not needed or either annoying bc it’s really uncomfortable. i think the thing that gets me the most, is that if she just literally apologized for her past actions and her constant lying, people wouldn’t have a problem with her, but it seems like she hates being wrong or critized for her actions, so she acts like she is the innocent little bird who is being attacked by big bad wolves. I always believe that yes she has a right to talk about the bad stuff that happened to her, but she can’t pretend that she’s also the pure innocent one. We’re all human, admiting that you fucked up is fine. Her fans would still forgive her anyways if she owns up to the shit bc “omg pretty furries dancing and being edgy🥺”

To be honest, I just think she has a huge problem with lying, I dont want to use the term “psychological liar” but she definitely lies a lot and I’m not sure why since she was like a kid.Could possibly be that for 4+ years she has been infront of a computer screen since she was 13 , for HOURSS on end in her house, barely going outside and doesn’t have anything that socializes her , with barely any parental supervision. Her meltdowns online and publicly bringing up drama by being snarky and witty is going to be the downfall of her.

I’d like to apologize for believing her sick lies and twisted stories. I’d also like to apologize to all of you for not believing,laughing at her snarky comments and being quick to defend her, especially when she posted that “Honest” animation. she was (and is) making you guys seem horrible when she’s the horrible one. My inner child is broken but I’ll heal.

you have no need to apologize. she's almost an adult and has been manipulating people for years on end. that's why all of her friends are her fans, because she thrives off of attention.

but, as you said, in the end we're all human. honestly, if she just apologized, genuinely apologized, i think most people would forgive her.

me personally? i wouldn't. she 'apologized' to me before, and it was empty and hollow. a paragraph sent to me to save face because i was 'too nice to her'. her actions are gross and i have no interest in hearing any sort of apology from her. i don't and won't believe her if/when she apologizes, because she doesn't even believe in herself.

i hope things get better for you.

I myself am still struggling to navigate being an artist online but I have a few tips that will hopefully be helpful to anyone else out there!

• Hashtags

Using tags on your posts is always useful to have your art get attention, especially when you’re first starting out and you don’t have an audience yet. If I’m not seeing posts from the people I already follow then it’s almost always because I’ve found the post by looking through a fandom tag I’m interested in.

• Interaction

Interacting with your audience is a big one! It gets people interested in what you’re doing and forms a bond between you and other creators that drives you to continue sharing what you make. Comment and share others posts, ask questions in your own posts that get people to engage. It’s just a nice genuine way to have fun and be creative - you may even make friends!

•Consistency

Okay so this one can be hard to upkeep honestly and I’m not the best at it myself. Being consistent with posting is always gonna be a huge thing to keep in mind. Sometimes I’m inconsistent with how much I post, sometimes I’m inconsistent with what the actual content is (Although it’s completely up to you wether you stick to a single category/fandom or not - I find it definitely helps keep your audience if you’re sticking to a single fandom. I can’t say much though because I never have the attention span for it😭 ) Wether or not your posts stay within the same category though it’s still important to keep consistency in how regularly you post if you want your audience to stick around.

•Presentation

How the world sees you! This can be anything from your username, bio or to the art itself. Keep it authentic and really try and get across what you want people to see when they first glance at your page. Presentation in the art itself is a big thing because that’s what’s gonna attract people in the first place. Think about why people are interested - does your style have a certain niche that may peak people’s interest? Is there any way you can expand upon that?

Okay so most of that I sort of just pulled outta my ass- hopefully it helps though😭 when it comes to actual art tips I could talk on this for a while so I may make a separate post if people want to know specific stuff. Generally though just make sure you find a software you’re comfortable with and get to know it well - practice your art and anything you think it needs improvement on! Hope this helps❤️
