Come, feast yourself in the playground of treasure and pleasure. Welcome to the Kabuki District.
3. Lost and Found in Each Other's Books
In which she plots his next pages and he unfolds her story.
4. The Heart of the Cosmos In which aliens want their existence be disproved and paranormal activities are not enough proof. Being a runaway and an immigrant in the same sentence doubles the trouble. What are the odds when everyone finds out? Let the games begin, the tension quadruple.
Characters:
Kagura - an arrogant alien who wants everyone to acknowledge her existence. Also, she's a runaway daughter who found shelter in a building tucked away in the dark side of the town built for sinful night activities.
Sougo Okita - a sadistic paranormal skeptic who wants nothing to do with everyone aside from his sister. It just so happens that his sister might actually believe in ghosts and would be closer to the ghost believer.
Side Characters
Mitsuba Okita - Sougo's sister. Not wanting to deprive her brother from their loss of parents in their young age, Mitsuba unintentionally spoiled her brother with generous affection. Nowadays, however, her attention is divided to two other things: ghost sightings and a certain man with V bangs.
Tsukuyo - Kagura's current guardian. Maintaining a twisted harmony within the prostitution sector becomes more difficult when she saves a self-proclaimed alien from mobsters. Humans truly are scary, and the current circumstances of their home does not make it easier for them to survive.
Toushiro Hijikata - a paranormal amateur who is scared of ghosts but thrives to show proof because a science guy provoked him. He may shiver in their assumed prsence but there's no beating the electrifying shock he experiences when he gets close to a certain woman in love with Tabasco.
Isao Kondou - manager of the ghost squad. He frequently orders booze and snacks from a certain club as he is usually left alone in the car and chatting the boys when they're busy searching for ghosts.
Hinowa - Kagura's another guardian. Her plan should be carried out, especially in Kagura's presence which she would like to take advantage of in the dire circumstances. She has a friend in a distant place, in a gay bar where various connections are revealed. She also wants to go to a snack bar to seek help.
Housen - manager of Yoshiwara and president of the Shuttle of the Night Laboratory. He creates chemicals using alien technology and chemicals for his illegal business to thrive and sustain life for the citizens living on a certain prostitution building.
Seita - believes in ghosts and aliens. But his mother is busy dealing with the forbidden chemicals in their building so he is often left alone dealing with the ghostly stuff. Not that anyone lends an ear to him nor takes him seriously except for the airhead immigrant who came to their home days ago.
Shinpachi Shimura - a slave of science deprived of sleep. The government basically stuffs their laboratory with all the difficult work and they're not getting paid enough. In return, he turns into an otaku in his scarce free time where he becomes fast asleep when hearing Otsu's songs.
Gintoki Sakata - a living legend, a lazy president of a laboratory. The legend says he conducted an experiment wherein he successfully called out a demon and bargained something precious in exchange of peace and harmony of the world. But as seen in his slacked form, it is hard to tell whether it is true or not.
Sagaru Yamazaki - the camera man of the ghost squad. Can only stuff his mouth of sausage and anpan to prevent himself from screaming.
Katakuriko Matsudaira - the director of the ghost squad. He doesn't really care but because his daughter likes the V guy, he allowed it. Definitely not because of her daughter pestering him all week, no, his daughter is not annoying like that. But things have taken a turn once an incident happened.
Kankou - Kagura's father. Always scourging for chemicals in various planets with a purpose just slightly different from his past scavenging. In his line of business, he met an inventor who successfully created an android, fueling his twisted longing hidden in the depth of his balding head.
Kamui - Kagura's brother. A drug dealer and an alien in hiding, he makes a living by introducing their alien chemicals to induce varying effects to humans. Actually finding a compatible material or element with theirs so he can create a perfect formula of necromancy, or so a ragged book says.
Tatsuma Sakamoto - a science guy who accomplished finding aliens but with a price. He considers the bargain a trade worth to happen despite the events that transpired. He takes record of the aliens he encountered and considers life as a philosophical entertainment which he guarantees his friends would agree on, somehow, despite their lack of presence.
Mutsu - an alien of Kagura's species. She is the vice captain of a spaceship that might as well be in her full hold as the captain is irresponsible and talks gibberish when he's drunk. Though, letting their captain barf from the spaceship is prolly not a good idea as a kid watches the barf be brought down by gravity, to his face.
Until then, see ya! (insert Katsura's little awkward laughs excited giggles)

Making it through love
It’s GinTae month!
Behold, a very short compilation of GinTae moments from the Gintama manga, anime and movie. Try as I might, I cannot do justice for the pair by words because to borrow a line from Westlife’s Home, “the words are cold and flat, and they deserve more than that.” So I looked for pictures detailing in a nutshell why GinTae (aside from OkiKagu) is my OTP. Since they have a lot like really a lot! of moments (aka they know each other heart by heart), I just chose from my pile of screenshots to accurately depict the prompt given which is kind of hard because the prompts blur and overlap with each other. Take these with a grain of salt, because the context of the episode where I took it from might not exactly be as romantic as I want it to be. Remember, this is fan-made. Fanon is not canon. But I wonder about that in this case because the Easter egg hints came directly from the creator of the series himself haha I’m also proud to say that no fan arts are included here to drive my point home that Gintoki and Tae are as canon as we can get from Sorachi very close to being married officially.
This is just the tip of the GinTae iceberg that will sink other ships. This does not capture the entirety of GinTae moments in the manga, anime, movie, OVA, live-action movie and even the audio CDs. Treat this as a preview of many GinTae moments.
For now, I hope you have fun with this one as much as I did when I was scouring my hoard of Gintama images. This is dedicated to all the GinTae fans. If you don’t like this content, just ignore then scram. Credits go to Sorachi-sensei and to the production of the anime where I took the screenshots from.
First Meeting: Watch out! Your soulmate might just appear from behind you while riding your scooter!
Tumblr media
Realization: If love is the answer, could you please rephrase the question (as manifested by Gintoki and Tae time and time again from the start of the series up to this point).
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The Reveal: Put a ring on it! It must be great to find that one special person you want to annoy for the rest of your life.
Tumblr media
Date: Put your best foot forward!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Reminder: Booze and sweet stuff for both the lady and the gent.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
New to the Family: A pretty serious relationship with someone long-term requires an introduction to the family. And whoah! There’s a whole spectrum of shenanigans they get into.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Jealousy: (Play Nick Jonas’s Jealous for the feels haha) It’s not Gin-san’s fault that the ladies hover. But it is Tae’s every right to be hellish because she’s (*whispers*) jealous the wife.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
As for Gin-san… he’s making his fist and his dirty tricks do the talking to protect the woman he cared about. (Look at Kagura’s unimpressed face (and Shinpachi’s shrieking) haha, I bet the paragon of adult wisdom she considered to be Gintoki just crumbled to dust.)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Laughter:  Sometimes your silver samurai turns out to be just an idiot perm-haired samurai.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
First Kiss: Exactly what it sounds like— but no, there are no kisses in the anime. Paging Hattori Zenzo, please tell us since you saw the whole exchange
Tumblr media
Thirdwheeling: Come with us, they said. It would be fun they said. Tag yourself, am I being extra?
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Flustered: The sweetness of strawberry parfait oozing out of the Smeggy Samurai’s words and gestures makes him sappy with Pony-chan whose cheeks are tinted with blush yihee *heart*
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Rest: Gin-san resting before he gets tired lols. But hey, it’s usually the Kodokan Dojo, the Shimura’s residence where Gintoki lounges about. We also see Tae checking up on the Yorozuya trio regularly as well as to pay her respects to Gintoki’s mom figure- Otose.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Shopping: GinTae shopping for clothes together. Two years later, it is also while shopping for clothes that Tae through a series of unfortunate events brought home Gin-san (and Hijikata) wearing undies on his face.
Tumblr media
Food: It’s not only love that is shared, also carbs.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Cherry blossom viewing (Hanami): The Sakata family wringing the beauty out of life. They seize the day over bento boxes (courtesy of Mom Tae) and sake-filled glasses (courtesy of Dadtoki). Of course, the day is completed with a showdown with their frienemy the Shinsengumi. And to cap the day off, look at the reverence and fondness the three are giving to Gin-san.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Rainy Day: Rainy days won’t keep our Queen of Kabuki-cho from hanging out with her family. Mom Tae even had a bento prepared. How thoughtful and sweet!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Super Powers: Plagiarize your way to success. In real life, don’t! It’s a crime. Here is Dragon Ball x Bleach x One Piece = DragonBleaPiece. Yeah, only in Gintama!
Tumblr media
Holding Hands: When your hand finds the hand it was meant to hold, don’t let go. (I was singing Heart by Heart performed by Demi Lovato on this part so you’ll find a lot of references to the song <3)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Spellbound: We don’t need any spells for GinTae to be together. See here they even act silly together. Also in an AU, Gin the bully is controlled kept in check by class-president Tae. In the Love Potion arc, no amount of love potion can dope Gin-san to forget that the hand he is supposed to hold is Tae’s.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Surprise Gift: Tae is up to something… Surprisingly enough (or maybe not), it is her infamous Dark Matter that makes one hate surprises when they are presented the honor of eating Tae’s magnum opus.
Tumblr media
Dispute:
Yagyuu arc, Gintoki: It’s like Tae doesn’t hear a word I say. Her mind is somewhere far away. Like she doesn’t even care.
Tumblr media
Benizakura arc, Tae: I know this whole city thinks it needs you but not as much as I (and Shinpachi and Kagura) do.
Gin-san went out anyways, and Tae let him.
(Btw, collage is not mine. CTTO. I’m sorry I forgot from whom I took the photo from)
Tumblr media
Angst: Gintoki (disguising as Takasugi) is in a predicament. He doesn’t want Tae to find out he is back in Edo after two years of wandering about. No, not yet. Certainly not in those clothes (or the lack thereof).
Tumblr media
Rescue: It’s not always the damsel that is in distress. Sometimes, gotta rescue the perm-hair and his friend the long-hair.  Oh the things we do for love!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Tragedy: This was when Kagura faked her illness that led to her “dying” (as orchestrated by the Sadist Prince Okita) and after the Liberation war. Meantime, it is best to grab what wonderful moments you find lying around.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Support: Behind a man’s downfall or success is a woman. Tae’s are the only eyes that can see into and through Gintoki and vice versa. They read each other like a book. They support each other in any way that they can. They even got each other’s hearts backs.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Cliche: They’re unaware of how cliché they’re being when it comes to their romantic feelings. Everyone can see that they have this thing going on, only they can’t see it. Talk about dense. Go on, don’t be shy just say it out loud.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Memories: Let’s intrude on our favourite kind of gathering – walking down memory lane with Tae and Gin-san. Pretend they are looking over a photo album to see how far they’ve come. Looking on are Madao Hasegawa-san and Catherine.
Tumblr media
The Power of Two: GinTae accomplishing a goal that neither of them would’ve been capable of doing alone. Just look at the picture, I have nothing more to say haha
Tumblr media
“I love you”s: Can Gin-san be more roundabout in saying those words to Tae so they can live together as man and wife. Probably go ask the other half of your sadist duo aka Okita Sogo how to propose/ say you love her the unconventional way. (I’m referring to how Okita proposed to Kagura. Oh well, that’s for another post)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Different Ways of Saying “I love you”: I’m stumped. I don’t know what to say. Every one of their interaction is gold. Just show how you feel and make it real. And to Sorachi-sensei, one good way to hide something is in plain sight. People often forget to look at something right in front of them. Kudos!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
And I end this lengthy post to that last panel with Tae saying she understands Gin. The way he’s complicated is simple. Isn’t that sweet? Might I add, Gin-san being a sweet-talker and sappy is really cringe worthy haha.  Tae and Gin-san found a way to find each other thanks to Shinpachi boy. From then on, it’s like she’s been in his life forever with the way she understands his heart by heart. Anego and Danna making it through love. The gods have spoken.

gintama FEELINGS under the cut (spoilers spoilers)
warning: everyone seems really hot on this chapter but tbh I’m very much not!!
before, I was on the fence about whether Takasugi would die for reals or not. All the signs pointed to YES... but it’s Gintama. Which has done some pretty dramatic, big impact deaths before, but never with a character as high profile and long-lasting as Takasugi. If I’m completely honest, I did want him to die. You get sick of everyone constantly escaping death by really contrived means, even in shonen manga. But I thought “nah, gorilla wouldn’t do that to Matako.” Technically there’s still one chapter left so... anything can still happen :P But I’m gonna say that Takasugi is well and truly dead.
And what a death! He got a 40 page death scene dude. As much as I felt it made sense, and fit Takasugi’s arc, I have to admit I am feeling a leeeeeeetle bit wtf about this entire chapter. I guess I don’t understand why Sorachi couldn’t have just had less fighting happen earlier and finished the story without needing to make the switch to an app for just 100 or so pages. I think it’s great that he felt strongly enough not to boy to pressure from the publisher and to do things his own way till the end - I just wonder how much of his predicament there was poor organization of the final arc on his part xP
Because even though it’s the Big Final Battle, and Sensei!!!! finally appeared!!! It was... really... REALLY... anti-climactic!! Utsuro was dead without anyone even noticing! He barely even CARED! What was all that bellyaching even for, lmao???!!! Gintoki got a token scene of stabbing... but really it was Takasugi who was the only one that did anything worthwhile. xP Now that’s par for the course with anti-hero character, it’s just that usually, the Main Character still has Stuff left to do to balance out the status quo. There’s one more chapter! But given how few pages are left... (Because splash pages and Endless Sentimental Monologuing take up a lot of panel space) I just can’t see all that much going down in the Official Final Chapter. Right now, I’d say Takatama would be a better name for this manga.
(Also, GinTaka is totally canon now amirite? Somehow my shipper’s heart when Ginzura these past couple years, but canon speaks for itself)
And speaking of sentimental monologuing. I’ve complained about this in the past, numerous times, you’d think I’d have gotten used to it by now. It’s just. I am a sentimental person. Absurdly so. And even I think Gintama overdoes it by a lot. I have only felt this way since right after the Rakuyou arc. That’s where the story gets shaky for me. There was plenty of it beforehand, but it fit better. Like during the Farewell Shinsengumi arc - there were a lot of sentimental thoughts, but they made sense, and they built up the action and the drama, rather than replace it. But since Rakuyou I’ve kind of felt like the modus operandi was “can’t think of enough to do to fill an entire chapter, so let’s stretch it out with never-ending professions of love and loyalty”
(Of course, this chapter was absolutely the place for sentimental monologuing. Seriously, if I hadn’t been so overwhelmed with it earlier, I would not be complaining now, because this is exactly what should happen when Takasugi dies in Gintoki’s arms, kay.)
So there’s one chapter left, and for me, there are still so many things I would have liked to have seen... At this point, although I enjoyed Takasugi’s end, I can’t help but feel slightly pissed that he got all this attention after never being around for years and years, while all the characters I actually care about are just kind of... chilling in battle pretending they’re still useful. xP I am especially surprised about Kagura and Shinpachi???? This is not the ending I expected for them at all. The last chapter’s gotta be the kind of “and then they went forth into their futures!” type bs, right?? I can’t imagine what else it could be, and yet that just feels so not right to me. Uggggh. I hate to complain but I really did want (and expect!) a different ending for everyone except Takasugi.
so now my prediction for the last chapter is... everyone eventually escapes the collapsing building. in the process, gintoki has more sentimental words with shouyou, before shouyou dies. they go back to edo and everything goes back to normal as if none of the last 50 chapters or whatever ever happened, except Takasugi is dead, which no one really notices because it’s not like he was ever around, except when Gintoki looks sadly off into the distance. No ships are confirmed, not even KonTae, and most everything is left open-ended. There are gags galore that we all appreciate thanks to nostalgia even though none of them are new, just watered down referential jokes from the past.
I have my fingers, toes, and ears fucking crossed that the Gorilla has one more surprise left, even if that surprise is Gintoki fucking dying on the way to safety xDDDD No, I don’t mean that. I don’t want Gintoki to die. This isn’t Cowboy Bebop!! I just mean that I am desperate to escape The Stereotypical Shonen Ending.
well... that hit tl;dr quick. xP in sum, I
liked this chapter very much
but would have liked it more if it weren’t the second-to-last
loved every bit with Takasugi and Gintoki
hated how all the Utsuro build up evaporated like drizzle in a desert
am greatly concerned that the final chapter will be Boring AF

Gintama Chapter 689 Review
youtube
Before going into this chapter, I thought it was safe to assume that it’s going to be another hilarious chapter with a few nice scenes here and there. To my surprise, the comedy and serious tone ratio has been altered. Therefore, we got ourselves a really captivating chapter with funny and drastic scenes. The time to throw down and get serious is coming, and yet, I’m not ready.
After what happened last time, there’s no way you can skipped the comedy. By that, I mean the false or “wrong” fan service moment with Granny Kagura. Usually, Gintama recaps the last moment of a segment; reminding fans where they left off. In this case, it’s necessary for a comedy skit that had me rolling.
The theme is how Shinpachi has become a player; at least according to Gintoki’s observation. What’s hysterical is how he believes Shinpachi has risen to the level surpassing Gin-san. I heard of a student surpassing the master, but this is downright ridiculous. But that opinion is shattered when naked Granny Kagura appeared. As expected, she doesn’t know Gintoki is there. The funny part is he doesn’t know that’s Kagura. So it begins a train of hilarity.
What stunned him really is not just because he saw a naked granny, though my eyes would dried out, but because Shinpachi has gone way above Gin-san, aiming for Ginsan and Kinsan tier. This joke is hilariously clever if you know those twins’ background, who were over 100 years old, and how the name with suffix became a full name. I was laughing so much to see Shinpachi skiing through space; a hilarious callback to one of my favorite reactions. The puns about elders are also funny.
Things got very awkward when Little Kagura comes out of the shower, wondering if Shinpachi is home. I died from laughing when he thought this is the final chapter with Shinpachi, for whatever reason, skiing through space with law enforcements arresting him. That’s the most tragic ending ever. I can’t stop laughing at how self-aware Gintoki is about the final arc going on for a while and wondering when is it going to end. I know it has to end one day, but good God, don’t end controversial. That’s one way to kill your manga.
I can credit Gintoki for looking after Shinpachi’s safety, even if everything is misunderstanding. It becomes tensed when Kagura can’t find her underwear, but he’s blocking doors to avoid contact. What could possibly go wrong? How about breaking through doors with her bare arms. How terrifying that must have been for him. Rejoice, fans. You got your actual demanded fan service more or less. I’ll say this much; she’s another victim of longer hair equal prettier. I need to take a break from manga…
So yeah, Kagura is about to bash his head, but still doesn’t know that it’s Gintoki. However, he now knows that it’s Kagura, so at least he cleared out his mistake. Unless he thinks Shinpachi went “there.” This sounds like some Batman and Batgirl twisted fantasy. Anyway, he luckily escapes, though a bit bummed that another reunion is stalled for another time. That is until Kagura notices the hair belongs to her precious father-figure, Gin-chan. The run and hide charade is nearly over.
After one wacky reunion, we finally got to see what’s up with Katsura and Takasugi. Takasugi took the opportunity of another enemy warfare occurring outside and snuck inside to meet with Katsura. That was nice to learn how he did it, especially when you consider that he has no army anymore. That said I’m a bit surprised that he went all the way there to kill him. I know Katsura is Zurump, which is understandable for him to be targeted, but think of the friendship.
I can’t help but laugh at the scene where Elizabeth is standing atop of the chandelier. It looks so funny to me. But of course, Gintama has its own way to present a cool moment out of a funny sight. I honestly thought there will be a battle between him and Takasugi; that would be a money-making match. But instead, Elizabeth takes a snapshot and then, we ensue the true way to shape the future: Twitter! The reference to Trump is genius.
Never would I thought to see a comedy skit with Katsura and Takasugi, but after what happened earlier with Gintoki, anything is possible now. It’s so funny that he has tweeted many times with random nonsense or casually downplay the assassination attempts. This is too close to home. What makes it funnier is Takasugi was practically forced to play the straight man, but he lacks energy to be one. Everything that is stupid, he replies in a normal calm manner. Even Katsura calls him out at failing. Either Takasugi legitimately don’t know what is a straight man or pretends to not know, Katsura notes that next time, they will play in their reversal role. This is comedy. Sadly, it ends here and the atmosphere drastically becomes serious.
The tone gets heavy when they begin discussing about their beloved master, Shouyo. Takasugi let him know that he has been searching for his master to save him; similar to what he has said to Gintoki. Katsura’s decision is different yet arguably more righteous of the two. There’s no mistake, he too wants to save their master. It almost sounds like he was agreeing with Takasugi. However, his definition of saving differs.
It’s awe-inspiring yet kind of hurtful with Katsura’s decision to save Shouyo by eliminating him. I was touched on how much he has learned as a Prime Minister and meant what he felt about his people. He wants to protect everyone, like what a Shogun used to do. It’s just Shouyo is also Utsuro and instead of gambling their chance, he wants to end the religion and him. That, to him, is what he considered “saving him.”
I mentioned hurtful because some fans would like Shouyo to return and earn freedom to live, but the reality is he’s the most hated criminal. Letting him live is an awful decision; making all “coolest guy ever” characters look like no crime record people. This moment leaves Gintoki as the middle man since he is torn between ending and sparing Shouyo’s life. I know he wanted to kill him before, but that flashback with him raising the child gave us a clearer view of his character. This subplot is seriously exciting. Please, Sorachi. Don’t ruin the payoff.
Katsura has some serious sincere dialogues that really got me picking his side over the debate. You can argue that he is more mature than Takasugi in this predicament. He hits right in the feels by closing the argument with everyone cannot go back in time after what they have become. It’s so true yet sad at same time. This discussion helped Takasugi to make his final decision: kill Katsura. Not like this…
This chapter is just fill with surprises. Not only would I never thought to see a comedy skit with Katsura and Takasugi, but now, a battle between them. The way how the setup plays out definitely feels like this is going to be a serious one-on-one combat. Katsura versus Takasugi is really happening. So many battles that I thought it wouldn’t happen, but since Sougo versus Kagura, anything is possible. I don’t know if the cliffhanger interrupts it, but if not, oh man, I can’t contain my excitement.
I was so happy that Kagura is chasing after Gintoki; however, I was so sad to learn more depth of her inner conflict. There’s no laughing matter here. In the flashback, Umibozu gives her a deep meaningful advice about letting go. Kagura was conflicted to return to Yorozuya, but he told her that if she doesn’t reach her hand out, there will be no one to grab back anymore. It sounds like a guilt trip, but it’s true in many ways. I sadly can relate to that. One must make a move to bring back together.
What really did it for me is another flashback about Shinpachi’s past two years action. Kagura thought Shinpachi was protecting their home and waited for Gintoki to return, but the truth is he wasn’t. He only protected it because he couldn’t move on; he too was stuck in the past. After all, Yorozuya is designed for those who have nothing to do. That…is a deep reference. Honestly, that made me whisper, “…aw…”
This left Kagura to carry a heavy burden. She has the chance to bring the family back together again. I love how the chase scene slowly becomes emotional. This could have been a funny gag, but the more you understand her feelings, the more you are feeling her pain. You want her to stop Gintoki from leaving. Her expression changes overtime from determination to sadness. Her reaching out her arms moment is so moving. The metaphor could not be any more painful.
The ending twist is not what I expected. The terminal is about to blow up, which I don’t get. I thought Tendoshu need them, unless there’s something else I missed. But that means the series is about to get dark again. The best part is how Gintoki drops his charade that reads, “To hell with hiding! I must protect Kagura!” I love that moment so much. This is why these characters are amazing. What comes next is anyone’s guess.
This chapter was a lot of things and outstanding is one of them. It’s filled with great laughs, especially in the beginning. I can’t stop laughing at the thought of ending the series controversial. It’s filled with serious developments such as Katsura versus Takasugi, which I, if uninterrupted, can’t wait for it. Lastly, it’s filled with emotional connections, including a teary scene with Kagura crying for Gin-chan. It looks like it’s time to begin another war. I thought I was ready… I guess not.

one night with you - gintae
summary: upon leaving kabukichou and the yorozuya after the war, gin returns for one night.
a/n. there are actually 2 versions of this story and this was the first one I wrote when the idea first came to mind.
She heard a sound coming from outside the back of her household. Opening the sliding door, she saw a figure in the shadows but her defenses were down because she could recognize the figure of the perm man anywhere. Her face of surprise turned into a soft smile as the moonlight finally reached his silver hair and his stoic face. He looked exactly how she remembered him. The only difference was his cloak. Instead of the swirls of blue at the hems, they were now squares. His boots replaced with sandals. But nevertheless, everything else about him was the same.
“Gin-san… aren't you coming in quite late in the night?” she softly laughed. But the man said nothing as he continued to make his way to her, until he was only inches away. He gently wrapped his arms her small figure and rested his head on the crook of her neck.
“Can we stay like this for a while… Otae-chan…”
And she didn't know if it was the way he said it, with a solemn raspy voice, or the fact that when he said her name his breath tickled the skin on her neck, making her weak, or the fact that this man has been away for over a year and having him now with her reassured her, but she let him stay there, let him hold her like that. He was okay. He was here now. If it had been any other man, she would have flung him to another dimension. No. That was wrong. She would have flung Gintoki too had he approached her in a drunken state or if he had come to her in a flirtatious manner. But he approached her in a way that made her feel like he needed this contact. In that year he was away, he probably didn't have someone with him. How lonely it must have been.
It was lonely for her too. Whether she wanted to admit it or not, Gintoki has been a huge piece of her life. When he left without hinting his whereabouts or what his aim was, a part of her worried over the man and wondered when he would come back. Even though he was here now, it did not feel real to her yet. She longed to feel him more, to touch him and be engulfed by his warmth. Just as he had his arms around her, she wrapped her arms around him as much as possible.
“Welcome home.” she whispered into the midnight air.
They held each other under the moonlit sky until Gin broke away first and looked straight at her, his eyes scanning every aspect of her face as to remember everything about her. Their faces were only inches away and Tae could feel his breath again, but this time she could feel her face and body heat up as her eyes also scanned his face and rested on his lips.
“Gin-sa-” Let it be the heat of the moment, how her mind was clogged with thoughts of him being close to her and finally back at Kabukichou, of his entire presence right in front of her, or how her eyes were just fixated on his lips, but either way, she didn't see the kiss coming. His chapped and dry lips on her soft and smooth ones. It was gentle and a bit hesitant as he moved his lips on hers. Tae felt as if she was melting into him regardless, losing her sense of reason. She closed her eyes and kissed back just as gently. A shiver ran down her spine as she felt his calloused hand cupping her cheek and move to the back of her head, fingers tangling themselves on her loose strands of hair, pulling her in closer.
Their kiss was soft and pure, not full of lust and passion. But Gin broke away after a while and proceeded to trace her neck down with his lips. Tae instinctively moved her head to the side, giving him more access, all while moving her hands to brush his fluffy permed hair. Her scent was invigorating, spinning his mind out of control. It made him want to consume all of her.
“Ah !” The small yelp from her mouth made him stop, bringing him back to reality, fear and worry in his eyes as he moved back from her.
“Did I hurt you?” He hastily said as he looked at the area of her neck where he kissed, a red mark where her pale skin once lied. “I'm sorry, I don't -”
“Don't apologize Gin-san.” She took his face in both her hands and with a flustered face that could hardly look him in the eyes said, “it… it was nice.”
Her flushed face, her brown eyes sweetly staring into him, those pink lips that were once in his possession curling up and saying they liked his touch. It was clouding him. He had only come to see her, to hold her, and then leave. This, whatever she was unintentionally doing to him, was not expected. He grabbed her hands and removed them from his face. “Watch what you say. I am a man after all.”
To his surprise, she laughed at him, and he gulped as he saw her smile that smile she puts on whenever she was ready to beat the crap out of someone. “Gin-san. Where was that talk about being a man when you suddenly just kissed me all over like that?”
“That… you see…”
“Had I not liked it or had I not wanted it, I would have killed you right here and now for such indecent behavior.” She reached for him, and he thought she was about to punch him back to wherever he came from. But she just closed the gap between them again and kissed him with a desire that was building inside of her ever since his lips stopped touching her. She had tasted the silver demon and became addicted to his flavor. She wanted more. She wanted to feel more than just his presence next to her. She wanted more than just a simple exchange of hugs now. She wanted to experience that melting feeling again with him. Those sparks building inside her, she wanted it again.
“This time don't stop.” She commanded in between kisses. A burning sensation overcame her as she felt his rough hands press on her light nightgown, lifting her and carrying her inside her home.
She felt herself being gently lowered to a futon, and when she broke the kiss and opened her eyes, she was met with his eyes above her. Their rapid breathing on each other. Tae had heard enough stories of what happens next after exchanges of passionate touches and words. If she had to experience that with anyone, she wouldn't mind it being with Gin, that lazy bastard who somehow managed to clutter her every thought and made her worry with every job he takes on. She closed her eyes and let him take the lead.
Just as she was drowning in him, he was also drowning in her. He was intoxicated with her last words. She was harsh with her words and fists. She was the type of person who would punch the living daylights out of him if he so much stepped out of line. She was like a demon gorilla living in the body of a human girl. She was flat-chested, but he admitted that at least her beauty made up for it. She was empathetic to the point she made another gorilla and a whole town fall for her charms. And although she could be brutal, she was strong-willed, gentle, and nurturing. She was able to see right through his facades. She always seemed to be the person he returned to. He never really noticed how important she was to him until her smile was taken away or whenever he saw her in danger. Sure, he would get upset if any of his precious friends were in trouble, but with her it was different. This boiling pot of anger would arise, and he was sure that he would do anything to bring her back even if it means travelling to the pits of hell and rewinding time. There really was no explanation for these feelings for her except that…
“I love you.” He whispered into her ear before bringing his lips back on hers. One arm supported him on top of her, while the other moved to her leg and slowly traveled upward and under her clothing. He smiled into their kiss as he could feel her squirming with every touch of his.
“Hey Gin-san…” She broke away for a second.
“Hmm?”
“I may love you too.”
He let out a sigh. “Uncute woman.” Yet a very gentle smile spread across his face before leaning down, giving her one more quick kiss. He trailed down her chin... her neck... her collar bone… resting his lips on the soft pink skin just above her slight cleavage. He was going to miss this. He was going to miss her.
-------
Kondo sat at his desk, looking at a picture of the Gorilla Princess. Once again, he was told to go and marry for political reasons. Last time he was in this predicament, Otae came to his rescue at the very last second. However, this time was different. No one could stop it from happening unless Otae had a change of heart about him. But he had come to admit defeat after all his failed attempts. The love he had for her, however, he would never regret.
A knock at his door distracted him from his thoughts. “Come in!” His eyes widened as the girl who was claiming his thoughts walked in. He noticed her distant eyes, her sullen face and simply directed her to the seat in front of his desk. “What brings you here, Otae-san? What happened?”
“Kondo-san… I have a favor to ask of you.” She looked down, uneasy, apologetic.
He listened to her story intently and after a while smiled at her. “So you and Gintoki, huh?”
“Yes…” she answered quietly, a tint of red emerging on her cheeks despite her best wishes. “But, I don't want Shinpachi to find out. I don't want him to think about how Gin-san came back for a short time and left without saying a word to him… I know it's a selfish request, Kondo-san,” She looked back down as she carefully placed her hands on her abdomen. “I…”
“Otae-san!” The girl jumped from surprise. “Could I cook for you? You know as a husband to a Gorilla Princess, I have to train to be a house husband. So what I'm saying is, could I practice and cook for you, for now at least? And don't worry. I'll make sure you get all the nutrients you need!” He scratched his head and let out a goofy laughter. Tae could only look at him in bewilderment. After all those years of stalking, could he have actually grown to read her? With just a sudden question, he erased her worry. Despite knowing with whom her feelings lied, he still supported her. She was grateful.
“Kondo-san, thank you.”

How would Gin, Hijikata, Takasugi and Zura respond if they accidentally had kissed their crush? P.S I'm in love this blog 😍😍😍and keep up the great work 👍👍👍!!!
thank you so much for your kindness, and i hope you’re okay with this vv & oh boi 4 these bois — mod aya
Sakata Gintoki: All Gintoki’s trying to do is to actually comprehend what’s happening. Lips pressed to theirs, his crush brightening up like a tomato… and then it hits him like a Kagura-chop to the head.
“Uh… eh…?” He mutters absentmindedly after his crush pulls away first. The silver-haired man sneaks a peek at their face to find them as utterly confused as he was. Embarrassment flushes his face with pink.
Gintoki’s pitch heightens as he stumbles to get an apology out. “Oi, (name)-cha-chan! Accident, yeah! It w-was an accident!” Was there a time machine nearby?
Hijikata Toshirou: It’s a nightmare, he thinks. A nightmare. However, when he realizes that the softness against his lips is in fact, real, he refrains from bursting out of the room with horror. Even Hijikata could feel a flourish of heat on his neck. Detaching himself from his crush, he grumbles an incomplete apology before leaving the room.
Once his crush is out of sight, he proceeds to abuse a nearby tree to release the amplifying embarrassment.
“…Shit!”
Takasugi Shinsuke: To be entirely honest, Takasugi’s almost pleasantly surprised with the predicament. Howbeit, those thoughts will never leave his mind. He stares into his crush’s hues— as if he was waiting for them to react first to this particular situation. When he’s had enough of the blush on their cheeks, he departs the room without any second thought.
(Takasugi also won’t admit to himself that their lips felt delightful against his own, so, again he buries these thoughts into the back of his head.)
Katsura Kotarou: The moment his lips meet theirs, Katsura widens his eyes from mortification. With his cheeks growing redder by the second, he immediately breaks the contact. What a disgrace! Katsura thinks, as his knees drop to the ground with amazing speed.
“…Please accept my forgiveness, (name)-dono!” He yells, forehead grazing the ground. “It was entirely an accident!”
Every fiber of his being hopes they thought the same—he would never want to dishonor them with a stolen kiss. (However, he thinks things would be different if it was a proper kiss.)

Gintama manga chap 640
Dear Gintama gods and Sorachi-sama,
I knew I needn't have wasted even one brain cell worrying about Matako's situation last week; I hope you will forgive me for even having one inkling of doubt on how her predicament would be resolved. I feel rather shameful now that I even gave any credence to my concerns that she would either be denigrated to the role of a damsel in distress in need of rescuing by Takasugi or caught up in a melodramatic moment with him that is unworthy of her devotion and feelings for him. I actually imagined a scenario where seeing her vulnerable and hurt like that would soften Takasugi up and he would immediately rush to aid her and then they'd look into each other's eyes and acknowledge their feelings for one another, etc. I should have known you would have better tricks up your sleeve than that, and yet, in my wildest imagination, I never would have predicted that you would make a sharp turn and transform what could have been an turning point for Takasugi and Matako's relationship into a significant moment for Takasugi and Bansai instead. TakaBan!  It happened so suddenly that it actually took me a few minutes to realize what just occurred and then I couldn't stop laughing out of sheer delight.  Poor Matako can't even catch a break even when her life is endangered: Takasugi practically brushed her to the side in favor of her senpai. And I love the fact that you naturally elevated what could have been a corny scene into a moment befitting Takasugi's persona. Really, why do I ever question you? I am so stupid sometimes.
After such a touching display between them, I hope you will understand that I have to believe that Takasugi and Bansai are now a canon pair. You can of course always change your mind, especially since Matako is just as lovable and deserving of Takasugi's devotion, and Gintama is a shonen series after all, but until then, with my personal apologies to Kamui and Zura whom I have also paired Takasugi up with in the past, Bansai from now on, as far as I'm concerned, is Takasugi's Magellanic penguin.
Aside from that little surprise, I wonder if the next trick that you will reveal from your sleeve of wonders has to do with Henpeita transforming from creepy lolicon into Luke Skywalker. Of course along those lines, that might also mean that he would not have to sacrifice himself in order to destroy the Death St—Hinokagutsuchi.  Or would he?  I was trying to do the heroic death math: in order for Takasugi, Matako and Bansai to be able to escape the Hinokagutsuchi, they would have to leave by ship, which Henpeita is providing by piloting over to them, therefore he cannot just drive it into the weapon's core to destroy it. I know that Takasugi cannot die yet without reuniting with the Joui boys to face off against Utsuro, so he would definitely get on that ship...and since both Matako and Bansai had their life-in-jeopardy moment already, I am sure you would not repeat that scenario for them again, so that means the two of them will also board the rescue ship, leaving Henpeita as the unknown integer.   I guess he could somehow have to sacrifice himself in order to turn off the weapon, but would Takasugi just leave him? I rather doubt it, especially after his change of heart on walking over the corpses of his comrades in order to achieve his goal. So my money is on Henpeita lives, the Kiheitai 4 is preserved, happy ending for all of them...unless earth is destroyed or Takasugi loses his fight against his old teacher, that is. I hope we will find out next week, but knowing you, we will probably jump back to Earth instead to see who didn't get melted in the Altana blasts and have to wait just a little bit longer to discover the fate of the Kiheitai and the others. Not that I would really complain: I am still anxiously wondering about the state of Kondou. I hope you will let us know soon and that it won't be as bad as it looked.
Yours truly,
A silly fangirl with yaoi dreams
(^3^)
PS: No Gintoki and Hijikata in sight again, and since I already spoke enough about TakaBan, I thought I should take this space to voice my appreciation at the fact that you managed to make Henpeita look heroic and still creepy as can be at the same time. Quite impressive of you.

Top 7 Anime Like One Piece
One Piece
One Piece started out as a manga, which was created by Eiichiro Oda and serialized in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump as of July 1997. So yeah, this is a series that’s been going for almost two decades…how crazy is that?!
So where do we go from here. After all, we can’t sit and watch just One Piece all day long, even though some don’t mind gawking over Nami’s sexy curves for hours on end. Thankfully, we’ve compiled a list of anime that we think fans of One Piece will absolutely love.
Let’s check out the top 10 anime like One Piece!
7 ) Nanatsu no Taizai (The Seven Deadly Sins)
Similarities
A small group of knights, known as the Seven Deadly Sins is headed by Melodius. And similarly to Luffy, Melodius is an outlaw who’s actually a swell guy once you get to know him better. Furthermore, The Seven Deadly Sins boasts a classic adventure vibe and colorful style which One Piece enthusiasts will enjoy.
Plot
The Holy Knights of Britannia use their immense combat and magic skills to protect the kingdom of Britannia. Surprisingly, some of these knights decided to go rogue and turn their swords against their comrades. They were defeated, but it’s widely believed that they’re still alive and are now known as the ‘Seven Deadly Sins’.
6 ) Groove Adventure Rave (Rave Master)
Similarities
Haru Glory is a Rave Master, and his goal is to retrieve to all the Rave Stones which are scattered around the world. He embarks on this grand adventure but soon meets friends and allies along the way, who he’s willing to protect at all costs – like Luffy! Plot
An age old battle between the forces of light and dark is soon to come to a head. An evil group known as Demon Card are gathering the Dark Brings, which are stones containing deadly dark power. It’s up to the swordsman, Haru Glory and his allies to stop Demon Card by utilizing the Rave Stones.
5 ) The Law of Ueki
Similarities
The Law of Ueki is a more ecologically-orientated alternative to One Piece, but it’s just as entertaining. The heroes and villains all possess insane powers, which will excite fans of One Piece.
Plot
Kousuke Ueki, a student of the Hinokuni Junior High School, is picked by a Celestial King Candidate, Koba-sen, to participate in a competition where people battle out to become the Celestial King and only the strongest will prevail. Embodied with the ability to turn garbage into trees, Kousuke will be joining in the battle against other junior high school students in this selection. This sets the premise for the earth-friendly battle where the students will pit their powers against the rest, with a reward of the Blank Talent giving motive for students to win.
4 ) Soul Eater
Similarities
The main protagonists of Soul Eater are a ragtag crew of individuals who are just as quirky as the Strawhat Pirates. And they all possess unique powers and abilities, setting them apart from each other, therefore, making it easy for us to root for our favorite Meister. But if you appreciate the humor in One Piece, then you’ll be pleased to know that Soul Eater is of similar comedic value; watch out for those funny fight scenes!
One Piece also has a serious side too, with a rich story. Soul Eater has those serious and more cerebral moments as well, but just a tad darker.
Plot
Shinigami train people with the ability to transform into weapons, as well as the wielders of these weapons who are known as Meisters. The training takes place at the Death Weapon Meister Academy in Death City. Meisters absorb the souls of 99 evil humans and one witch in order to transform their weapons into ‘death scythes’.
3 ) Toriko
Similarities
If you thought that Luffy had a voracious appetite, then it’s time to introduce you to someone that can take him on in any eating challenge. Toriko is one big dude with immense strength, who just wants to chow down on animals.
There are many other startling similarities between Toriko and One Piece. The Gourmet Cells play a similar role to the Devil Fruits, and the Gourmet world is a dangerous and tricky frontier to navigate just as the Grand Line. And neither series skimps on adventure and intense fighting scenes.
Plot
The Gourmet Age is upon us, and fine dining is all the rage. People of all walks of life crave the most exquisite foods made with the finest ingredients. But the best ingredients are difficult to come by, and only Gourmet Hunters are skilled enough to procure these. Toriko is a gluttonous but famous Gourmet Hunter who is called upon by Chef Komatsu for a unique assignment.
2 ) Gintama
Similarities
Gintama presents us with a universe that’s chock-full of cool adventures. Only this time they don’t take place across the wild seas like in One Piece, but in feudal Japan.
Plot
Gintoki Sakata needs to take up odd jobs, even though he’s a samurai. The reason he faces such a predicament is because an alien species known as the Amanto have invaded Japan, and have prohibited swords. However, this situation opens up new opportunities for Gintoki that he wouldn’t have considered otherwise.
1 ) Magi: The Labyrinth of Magic
Similarities
Two boys, Alibaba Saluja and Aladdin come from completely different backgrounds. However, after a chance meeting they decide to team up and start exploring dungeons…kind of like Luffy and Zoro?
Plot
Alibaba is somewhat of greedy fellow who dreams of great riches. To achieve his dreams, he needs to enter the labyrinth-like dungeons and uncover the riches hidden within them. Unfortunately, these dungeons are heavily guarded by Djinns – powerful supernatural entities. So, Alibaba and Aladdin have their work cut out for them.
All these Anime have great story like one Piece ! If you know any other anime like One Piece comment down below !

Life-size Gintoki, Sadaharu, and Isao Kondo statues seen in the wilds
The Jump Shop is a chain of stores selling merchandise from manga serialized in Weekly Shounen Jump! magazine. Their Tokyo Dome City Branch has recently gotten much attention, as it now features a life-size statue of Gintama’s 4th wall-breaking samurai, Gintoki Sakata.
The Tokyo Dome City Branch also features Sadaharu right besides Gintoki. Seems like he’s sleeping, so better be careful or he might chomp on your head!
Meanwhile, a life-size statue of Shinsengumi leader, Isao Kondo, has popped up in Jump Store’s Yokohama branch. The statue features him in the same predicament as he was in in episode 65 of the TV anime, covered in honey and all. Now that is what you call a sweet surprise, right?
The Jump Shop is even encouraging fans to take photos of or with the statues! So when your at the Tokyo Dome area or near the Jump Shop in Yokohama, better get your cameras ready!

Gintama manga chap 620
Dear Gintama gods and Sorachi-sama,
I know you probably planned this chapter ages ago, and that it technically came out in Japan days earlier, but as the fates would have it, the generous souls who translate your golden words for us Japanese illiterate fans happened to release it on the day where hundreds of Women’s Marches are taking place globally, so the timing could not have been more perfect. For this chapter to me is really a celebration of strong, independent women, represented by the amazing ladies of Gintama, who are not afraid to live as they want to, love as they want to, and die as they want to.  Great ladies who want and deserve to stand on the same ground as all the men that surround them and share in the same responsibility to protect what is precious to them, which you summed up so beautifully as, “All the people fighting here is like you. The women, the men, the okama. It’s not for the world. They’re here fighting for someone they care about”. With those simple lines you basically equalized everyone, as they should be equal: in their shared goal to fight for and besides those they love, they are therefore all the same.  The fact that you specifically mentioned the okamas as well especially warmed my heart. I refuse to believe that you did not intend to be so purposefully inclusive and it is really moments like these that make me especially happy and proud to be a Gintama fan.
I love that you are taking the time to showcase each and every beloved female in Gintama during these battles: first it was Sacchan, then Otae, then Saigou, followed by Kyuubei and now Tsukuyo. I must confess, my feelings about Tsukky have been rather complicated over the years since her introduction. I never hated her, but it did take a long time for me to warm up to her. Not because she posed a threat to my two main OTPs involving Gintoki (GinHiji and GinKyuu), although I do admit that when I realized she was introduced to be a stronger potential love interest for him than any of the other ladies that came before her, I was rather crestfallen since I was so sure you were heading in the GinKyuu direction (even I know GinHIji is mostly in my silly head; you giving us the Soul Switch arc and those special moments in Farewell Shinsengumi arc is more than I could ever possibly ask for already). I simply did not find her all that interesting initially because she seemed to be nothing more than an amalgam of all the other female characters in the Gintaverse that we were already knew and loved. I could not figure out why she was introduced and singled out to be deemed worthy of Gintoki’s attentions when she was practically interchangeable with someone like Kyuubei. Add to that my insane notion that she was also taking away precious screen time from Zura, my feelings toward her in the beginning was on the ambivalent side, to say the least.
However, I have since grown to appreciate her much more, to the point that I do indeed like her a lot now. She has definitely become more than just an imitation of other Gintama ladies; rather, she is a strong, interesting, and loveable character in her own right.  I especially appreciate her obvious devotion and love for Gintoki. If the Love Potion arc proved anything, it was that Tsukky is undoubtedly in love with Gin-chan. This chapter only confirmed the fact in spades. At this point, if there is any room for doubt about their feelings for each other, the question lies mainly with Gintoki. The strange thing is, at one point in the earlier phase of their relationship, he seemed to echo her sentiments, but since then, he has been mostly noncommittal. Yes he did smother her with a good deal of affection and endearments during the LP arc, but since he also did the same to many others as well, the sincerity behind his actions and words during that time is disputable.
I would be lying if I didn’t say that a small part of me does hope that you are leaving room for there to be other, more platonic outcomes to Gintoki and Tsukky’s relationship, especially since one can argue that it is by no accident you placed her in direct parallel with Kyuubei, showing their obvious mutual appreciation of each other since they may share the similar predicament of unrequited love.  To be honest,  in that moment, I actually thought they made a cute couple on their own, but since I can’t be certain that the idea wasn’t motivated by selfish, ulterior reasons, I decided it’s best not to go there just yet. Putting all that aside, the rest of me is prepared to “lose” Gintoki to Tsukky at the end of the series, and really, they do make a cute couple. She is more than worthy of him. In fact, if anything, Gin-chan might not be good enough for her. No matter what, I do wish her safe passage through this battle because it would greatly sadden me if any serious harm were to befall her during this fight, which has become more brutal than I ever expected.
And if Tsukky getting hurt would send me into a tailspin of gloom, I can tell you I will be thoroughly CRUSHED if anything fatal were to happen to Kyuu-chan. I literally screamed in shocked when that ribbed log of death came out of nowhere and smashed into her. I know I just spoke about equality between men and women at the beginning of this letter, so I should believe Kyuubei is just as capable of sustaining injuries as Gin-chan is, but that just looked so…AWFUL. I mean, does she possess the preternaturally quick healing abilities as Gintoki does?  The sight of her fallen, bloody figure…ugh, my poor heart. And I am so sorry I even mentioned those damn Yato mercenaries last time: I didn’t mean for them to actually show up and hold Otae and her cabaret ladies hostage. I hope the ladies will quickly turn the tables on them; I still want them to win this battle on their own all the way without any of the men coming to their rescue. But please, first assure us that the injuries to Kyuu-chan are NOT life-threatening in any way. I hope she found a way to block the blow before it did any real damage. The next chapter cannot come soon enough!
Yours truly,
A silly fangirl with yaoi dreams
(^3^)
PS: I had to include this because it made me guffaw. Gintoki hitting it off with the ladies, as usual. Yeah, Tsukky is definitely too good for him.
