This is, genuinely, one of the first times I've contemplated deleting or wiping an account in protest.

If I do, I will be more active on Bluesky and Cohost, maybe Inkblot as well.

I am, frankly disgusted by this site's decision to partner with an AI Data scraping company- especially Midjourney, in a desperate attempt to claw back any profit they can, rather then let the site continue to exist and eventually die out.

I find it absolutely baffling that this is directly after receiving backlash for the CEO's behavior towards Predestrogen. A trans woman who happens to be a sex worker who was unfairly banned. The CEO followed her onto twitter to straight up harass her, sharing her many other online handles. Disgusting behavior.

I was willing to stay on this hellsite and dig my heels in then but now I'm seriously considering wiping this blog clean, deleting my sideblogs, and only keeping an empty shell around to check in on my friends still here.

Fuck this hellsite, Fuck the CEO, Fuck the parent companies, and FUCK AI.

I have no attachment to this site as most of my friends already know me on discord and my many other social media accounts.

Would I miss the community? Yes very much so. But so many of my friends are already on Bluesky or Cohost themselves.

I have no qualms with jumping ship and I know this blog isn't "popular" so to speak but just to throw my two cents out there; Tumblr has been fucking pathetic with it's decisions in regards to to the Palestinian Genocide, Trans womens' treatment on this fucking hellsite, and now partnering with midjourney.

I am not particularly torn between leaving this site or staying until the ship sinks. I have not made a final decision.

To be clear, I find this website fucking disgusting. I don't know what I hope happens to it but I don't care to share my art here anymore. I may delete most of my own original posts here.

For now I remain, in utter contempt of the state of this site, ready to leave.

My trust in social media/art sites has been dwindling for a while now

Witnessing dA steal a whole site's worth of art to train it's image generator, informing everyone in post- Knowing that twitter and instagram are likewise training their own generators- and now seeing tumblr implement an opt-out for training data

It's very disheartening to watch the internet communities I've found home bend and twist under the force of scraping for "AI" training

There is just so much bad, but making and sharing art is still one of my favorite things to do. I will still be drawing my freaks, but I'll need time to think about what to do with my personal work...

This blog will change to be fanart only & I'll put more time into finding a comfortable workflow for glaze/nightshade

I drew something :D

A few things actually, pertaining to a roleplay server I'm working in. It's still on the ground, but for some reason I decided to spend several days working on a custom map for it :) because the canon map wasn't good enough

After many weeks and way too many rough drafts, I present the map of the Hestia region!

Words cannot express how PROUD I am for actually pulling through on this, although it's still unfinished, still need to add all the settlements and labels and just words in general

It's also a pretty large file so I'm not sure how good the quality is gonna be when I post

I also make two whole characters sheets!!

The first one is a friend's oc, the second is mine :)

He's a gallade and she's a gardevoir, you already know some shenanigans are gonna occur

The server as a whole is still horribly unfinished, and in a state of limbo, but I really hope it can be a place that thrives in the end <:) Anyway, that's your monthly Glazed update, happy belated Thanksgiving :)

I said this elsewhere but

not to be That Guy but I don't really see the point of moving platforms anymore.

There is no where we can hide on the internet from the silicon valley bros. There just isn't. Patreon is VC-funded and could announce tomorrow that oh of course they've been partnered with Midjourney for months already. Twitter actively scraps everything for AI learning. And even if you trusted the other big players like FB/IG to tell the truth about shit, people are going to use these platforms for datasets anyway. They'll just do it quietly and hope no one notices.

And places like cohost or whatever-- honestly, if it makes you feel safer/better, go for it, but I don't think cohost has the sway or capital to build the type of legal team you need to fight against scrapers. Hell, you wanna retreat into private discords? Discord wants in on AI too.

Everyone big is already dealing in AI, and everyone small doesn't even have a seat at the table. In my opinion, we are all collectively holding out for Brussels or any of the many court cases to do something about this shit, because it's no longer a thing we can just hide from.

I'm going to keep my writing on the AO3 because they are the odd case of having an actual legal team in place for this shit. For artists, I have nothing but sympathy. I suggest glazing and nightshading literally everything you post.

But beyond that, I'm unsure what we can do. This is a matter for legislation. Silicon Valley doesn't care if we all go to cohost, and even less scrupulous data-crawlers will just grab our shit from there too.

So I'll be here.

Ok, ran a test run of glaze, so have an informative post about the process. Since there is a lot of 'Just glaze all your art!' being thrown around a lot right now, then not giving much information where to find it/how to use it. You can find glaze here (https://glaze.cs.uchicago.edu/) Was about 2.6GB to download the program Then about 4.8GB to extract the zip, for an idea of it's size/space requirements. Got it running from the application in the extract folder.

The general layout of glaze which it is simple/easy to use interface, at lowest they estimate 20 minutes, but from my test run it takes *significantly* longer, which it does disclose that on the bottom left. In terms of CPU, yes it is very intensive, I have an average laptop with 'average specs' (i.e I can run a fair few games, but nothing like 'top graphics) I ran glaze at the lowest settings, default and faster My memory Cpu usage while using glaze was at Cpu 50-60% / Memory at 70-80% * Before I ran glaze it was running 11% cpu and 42% memory (I had discord open in the background the whole time but closed out of much else, so if you do run to much you may experience a crash)

*As glaze did reach the half way point the cpu and memory usage slowly lowered Now here's the time frame it took to glaze one picture of mine that was 5.05MB

The process takes *much* longer the settings indicate (used fastest setting which was estimated to be 20 minutes), so I spent approx (9:30pm to 1:00 am running glaze) The final result

This is what some of the warping looks like (which you can see it in some of the examples on glazes website)

I've already posted this art before unglazed so used it as an example. The unglazed version is the left, and glazed is the right. I do imagine you'll get less warping at the higher settings but likely that'll be much more intensive in time and resources. In short, glaze I'm so glad this tool is there for artists, but it is *really* not feasible solution/catch all for everyone to go back and glaze every piece of art/or glaze every piece of art going forward. Between the time it takes and how intensive it is, it's likely not accessible for everyone.

Where I feel this tool is best suited (and likely intended) is more art industry settings, examples like 'I'm posting art for a industry client and/or my professional portfolio' type scenarios.

Just wanted to give a more detailed experience of using glaze. I've seen there was sign ups for people to make accounts to use glaze for a faster experience, but as far as I've seen on their site/other posts it's closed at the moment.
