Sunday Morning Coming Down...

I've just woken up.

Well, that's a bit of a fib, I woke up a couple of hours ago, and got some messages on my phone from Europe, and needed to get away, get out, move; so I took a bike ride.

It was a cold wintery morning ride and I needed to clear my head because I miss my adopted home, Dresden Germany, locally known as DD, a little more than usual at the moment.

Right now, most of my friends are in DD, either because they're on stage or in the crowd. My brother, GB, is playing 2 shows at an awesome outdoor venue, one that I have attended many times while I lived there, with his very successful rock n roll country band. Additionally, many of the fans of that band, TBH, are fans of my old band, The 2930s.

According to the texts, currently, it's about 2am and some are drunk and at McDonalds. I can imagine the sound of their laughter, the silliness of their fun, and the connection they have to each other; Rock n roll baby! They've just attended an awesome show, maybe the first in a couple of years, hung out at the after show party and now need a bit of fast food to mix with the beers they've had on a hot summer night of energy.

These folks were my family, are my family, chosen a world away from my real family down under. They were there with me for drunk McDonalds, after parties, concerts, coffees, serious talks, Rosis and screaming for more when the last song finished.

I love these people, I don't do that lightly, and we've been through a lot together. Many of them have been through the dark drunk days I had, through the mental health crisis and anxiety I experienced (sometimes when I experienced it on stage) and back out through the other side where I found more balance and health in life. Some of them I supported through their own issues too. Some are faces in the crowd, but they're just as important, they bought a ticket, they enjoyed the show, we connected, they smiled and said thank you as I signed their merch.

It was all about energy and connection.

I got close with many of the fans over there. I knew something personal about their lives, and in some cases wrote songs about what I heard or experienced with them. Drunk or not, I wanted to connect not just with the fan, but with the person. I think they felt it too. I know I did. I appreciated the tattoos they got of my lyrics, I appreciated the time they spent on a train travelling hours or even days to come to a show. I appreciated their continued loyalty and love, and that feeling hasn't stopped just because I left Germany.

While living in Germany, I didn't put much effort into my down under musician life, and while plenty of old friends here remember the old days when “Little Josh” had gigs at the local pub, many don't know the depth, length and intensity of the European touring lifestyle, shows and energy I experienced for over 13 years. (While I moved over in 2002, it wasn't until 2007 when things began to heat up).

I miss my friends a lot today. I should have been there at that Dresden concert. In fact I had planned my whole return down under based around this very concert in July 2020. I was going to see the boys play, see my friends, fans and (chosen) family, then jump on a plane a few days later. I was going to have a fond farewell... It didn't go according to plan... Damn you pandemic and rescheduled concerts.

I appreciated “The Josh Fest” (American Car Day) that happened last minute before flying out. It was a different kind of replacement show, I got to play and see many folks at that show just before flying out (well, just before being stranded) and at the time I really appreciated it, I still do.... But this Dresden concert I'm currently missing, meant something else... The reason why I chose to become a musician full time was because of their lead singer, a man whose music, going back to the 90's, influences me to this day. I wanted to say goodbye face to face, I wanted to say thanks to him, and to all of those who had been there for me.

I guess part of this is me sitting here feeling sorry for myself, and wondering if I'll ever get back to DD or if I'll ever tour like the days gone by. Maybe I didn't take the time, at the time, to appreciate it enough when it was all happening. I wasn't in the moment enough? I'm not sure...

There's still a lot to figure out here...

Living back down under, I don't have the same kind of support and family, I don't have the same feeling. It's not bad, it's just really really different. I don't get phone calls to play gigs like I used to. I have a day job now, I have a boss, and that's a whole other mess. I'm still not convinced it's the right mess for me either, more on that in another blog maybe.

I saw a video of the concert last night, taken from near the onstage monitor guys mixing console, looking through the musicians at the front of the stage towards the faces of the crowd in the amphitheatre. I have stood at this spot before, I know it well, and I know the crowd well. I can see the front row girls singing along, some of them my good friends, in between the legs of the band members I've known and loved for many years. My best friend on the bass... It wasn't easy to watch to be honest... I was saddened by the fact I didn't get that one last chance to stand on that stage, next to my bro GB, and cheer 'em on...

But as I write this blog, I am beginning to feel a sense of gratitude.

Gratitude for my pal GB who in 2008 picked me out of the crowd to come and say hi to, he knew me, I didn't recognise him. That moment in London, well, that set the stage for my move to Germany, it set the stage for The 2930s, and Rosis Rockets, my recording studio, Rosis, song writing, DJing, and plenty of touring.

I'm feeling gratitude for my front row girls, who became friends I could rely on, I could love, I could get to know, I could be part of their world as much as they was a part of mine. The more appreciation they showed me, the more I wanted to give back.

GB told me last night, over text, not to look back... He's right, but sometimes it's really hard, I've had a shit week and I feel that (almost) everyone I care about is together having a good time in DD.

I was meant to be at that gig.

Thinking about it, feeling gratitude for the experiences I had, especially when I lived in Germany, but also for the times in England, is about the only way I can get through these moments. I look at old photos, I remember stories of big nights out, that maybe no one but us there know about. All the inside jokes that only band members or close friends know. The times a fan felt connection to my lyrics, the depth of energy they experienced and expressed to me, before, during and after the show. The knowledge something I wrote, connected to someone else, is and will always be the highest of thank yous I could receive.

I used to keep busy in Germany to prevent myself, no, to distract myself, from missing Australia. How the tables have turned. Any moments of quiet in my head these days, lead me back to (old) Rosis, TBH, GB, Catalina Music, The 2930s, Joes studio, dönerteller, the front row girls, Sonnenstudio, the snow, the autobahn, The Elbe, The Blue Note, and the distance I now have from all of that.

It was one hell of a ride. I miss it. I miss the people, the places, the sounds, the smell, and you guessed it, the food.

This morning, the distance between Dresden Germany, and Ocean Shores Australia, was really felt.

Even though I am 7 years sober, today it feels like Sunday morning coming down.

About the Character:

Physical Appearance: Redheaded, short hair, brown eyes, freckles, wire rimmed glasses, 5' 10", a tattoo of the Triskelion just a bit bigger than a quarter on the inside of her right ankle, average female build.

Backstory:

Faye's birthday is October 31st, 1956, and the current year is 1990

The name she was given at birth was actually Faith but she legally changed it as soon as she could

She has Irish ancestry, which pertains to some items she found in her parent's attic

Her hometown is Windfall Indiana and she lived there for most of her life, visiting a few countries abroad (mostly Ireland since she has family there) and traveling to most corners of America, never traveling northeast farther than Cleveland until '84

Constantly disagreed with her parents since she was 12 and through her teen years rebelled against them, getting a part time mechanic job in Windfall's auto shop, skateboarded, cut her hair short, and got a Master's degree in Technology and Telecommunications once she reached college

Didn't get along with her family in general, including her younger brother Chris (they reconnected after she became a Ghostbuster), except for her Grandma Ophelia

Can go from "pacifist" to "pass my fist through your face" in seconds, hot-headed just like her mother

Played Bridge with her grandmother every Wednesday

She's a cat person and raised a stray she named Peppercorn in her childhood

Has an irrational fear/hatred of clowns and mascots

Can pick locks and always has a hairpin to use

Her best friend Debra Wilkins (Debby) took karate and taught her a few moves

Played the Trombone in her high school marching and concert band

When she graduated from college she got a job at a local news station in Tipton county, subsequently leading to her getting her license to pilot a helicopter for a different position at the station (Faye makes sure to renew it because she feels it's an interesting qualification to have)

Midsummer of 1984 she had had enough of her parents' nagging to settle down and start a family like Chris, so she packed up and moved to New York - even though she had never been there before - with only Ophelia's support

For 2 months she lived in a motel while looking for a job before she was hired as a Ghostbuster, the same time as Winston

When paranormal investigations and eliminations were shut down following the Manhattan Crossrip she was pretty torn up about it, and took a secretarial job in the radio industry just to pay the bills

In 1986 she quit the job and started working for a PhD in Parapsychology, participating in the occasional party gig that came up (she gets her PhD in May of 1990)

She was involved in investigating what happened to Dana's baby carriage, leading to her digging up the road, going to court, and being there when the Ghostbusters restart

Her picking locks ability had her in a straitjacket almost constantly at Parkview when she was caught in the act

1. Do you prefer writing with a black pen or blue pen? black in my lab notebook at work and blue on loose paper, and in college I always had a rainbow of colored pens to take notes with

2. Would you prefer to live in the country or city? It changes all the time. I want to live close to the city for concerts and restaurants, but I also want a little farmhouse with wildflowers all over the yard.

3. If you could learn a new skill what would it be? I want to be fluent in so many languages.

4. Do you drink your tea/coffee with sugar? yes I prefer sweet drinks

5. What was your favourite book as a child? I loved the Amelia’s Notebooks series by Marissa Moss so much when I was little. They were written like diaries and looked like composition notebooks. I loved the idea of keeping a diary with doodles all over and a bunch of keepsakes taped to the pages.

6. Do you prefer baths or showers? Showers

7. If you could be a mythical creature, which one would it be? Werewolf

8. Paper or electronic books? ebooks! I used to always carry a book with me, so it’s great to be able to carry hundreds in my phone where ever I go

10. Do you like your name or would you like to change it? I have a love/hate relationship with my name

11. Who is a mentor to you? I never thought I would have a mentor, but one of my colleagues has become one and it is really helpful to have someone with so much STEM industry experience to help me in the early stages of my career.

18. Tell us about an early childhood memory. When I was around 5 years old, I wanted to be a radio DJ on the local country radio station when I grew up, because I could think of nothing better than to spend your whole day at work listening to music. That dream was short-lived because I hate public speaking and hearing my own voice on recordings.

19. What is the strangest thing you have eaten? It’s not weird to me because I grew up with it, but in theory it sounds like a strange food, so I will say pickled fish

20. What are you most thankful for? Family

21. Do you like spicy food? No

22. Have you ever met someone famous? Other than when I’ve gone to meet-and-greets for bands, I once met Halsey at a Catfish and the Bottlemen concert. It was a super awkward encounter 😬

23. Do you keep a diary or journal? I’ve never been able to keep a journal despite numerous attempts, but I do keep a monthly planner where I track habits and goals with stickers. Right now I have some holographic dinosaur and glittery flower stickers!

24. Do you prefer to use a pen or a pencil? For most things, pencil. At work pencil is not an option, so I tend to be really particular about how smooth a pen writes.

28. Do you like reading, what was the last book you read? I love reading! I omstly read fics now, but the last book I read was Canotras by Carolina de Robertis and it was a very good book, 10/10 would recommend.

37. Have you ever seen a shooting star? yes, one summer my friend had a birthday party sleepover where we slept in a tent outside during a meteor shower

38. What is the one thing you would want to teach your children? To be willing to try new things

39. If you could get a tattoo, what would it be and where would you get it? I already have a snail and a hummingbird. I want a set of three triangles on my wrist next.

40. What can you hear now? The 40 year old air conditioner unit in my apartment (why can’t it just stop working already so I can get a quieter, more energy efficient one 😩)

46. What do you regret the most? Believing the person that told me there would be available parking in the lot at the radio station for the meet and greet I won at a radio station. I am usually very anxious about parking in the cities, but they said there was plenty of space, so I didn’t plan for any extra time. My friend and I ended up parking nine blocks away and missed half of the event and I’m still pissed about it. And now I’m even more anxious about parking any time I go into the cities.

47. Last movie you saw? Titanic was playing on tv, but I only saw the second half after the ship had already hit the iceberg so I missed all the good romantic bits 😢 and the last one in theaters was Spies in Disguise

48. Last tv show you watched? I started watching Golden Girls this winter and I’m on season 4.

Does number 4 have a driver’s license? Yeah. I’m pretty sure we were part of the first few people in our high school batch who learned how to drive and get our licenses.

Can number 7 speak another language? Well yeah, she can speak Filipino. Everyone on the list can at least speak Filipino.

Does 2 know your parents well? Not so much. She knows the basic stuff about my parents that I tell everyone, like how my dad works abroad.

Have 3 and 5 been in the same room together? Multiple times, until Aya graduated. All three of us were in the same applicant batch in our org so we spent a loooot of time together.

Does 1 have similar music tastes to you? Broadly, yeah. I know we both like R&B and hip-hop but he’s faaaar more passionate about the genre and he’s a lot better at picking out artists and songs.

Has 6 ever stayed at your house? She’s visited a handful of times, but I prefer going to her house instead. I don’t really have a lot to offer here whereas we never run out of things to do at her place.

When did 3 last text you? If we are talking of strictly texts, November 2018. Aya was never a good replier on text lol. But my last notification of her in general was at 4 AM today, when she sent a meme to our friends’ group chat.

Does 5 have any pets? If so, what do they have? Nope. WELP I don’t know actually. She lives all the way in Bacolod so her home life doesn’t get raised much. I know she loves dogs though.

Does 7 live in the same town/city as you? Nah, she’s a south baby through and through.

Have you ever lent something important to 8? I’ve never even met her yet. We keep planning to especially since she works in Metro Manila now, but our schedules just never work out.

Can number 1 sing well? Yes. He’s done a lot of singing gigs and as far as I know he even put out an EP at one point. He has a sick stage name too.

Does 2 have any siblings? Nah, she’s an only child.

If 4 called you at 2 AM, what would your reaction be? Take it and assume she has trouble falling asleep.

Who is 8′s best friend? I’m not sure; I don’t know her all that well. I would assume it’s someone all the way in Mindanao, since that’s where she grew up and went to school and her whole life is there - she really only moved to Metro Manila for work. That’s why I feel for her sometimes and keep offering to meet up, so she can feel less lonely.

Does 6 have a favourite tv show? If so, what is it? She loooves watching TV series but I never knew what her favorite is. Good question, I’ll have to ask her this soon.

Who out of 5 and 7 knows you the best? I say they both know me on the same level but I think Laurice does slightly more. We’ve had deeper conversations, so it’s a safe guess.

Does 4 have a boyfriend/girlfriend? You are reading her answers right now. ;)

Does 2 have a career/knows what they want to be? Yes, she’s always wanted to be a journalist. She’s entering her senior year now and I’m really proud and super impressed with her for being able to keep up such a demanding, brutal passion; I was burned out from journ by freshman year. She even helps run a fact-checking website now :) It had just been a requirement in her class to come up with a fact-checking website but theirs got SO successful, racked up some awards, and now it’s still going.

Have you ever kissed 1? No. He’s like a brother to me and that just sounds like the weirdest scenario.

Does 3 have or want children? Yes. I know she wanted them when she was with Jo, but I’m not sure if she’s changed her mind lately.

Does 6 have any piercings or tattoos? Yep, on her ears.

Do your parents know 8? No. She’s an internet friend, so I never get to raise it in conversations. And I doubt they’ll be happy if they found out I made a friend on the interwebs anyway.

Have you watched a movie with? I remember watching The Devil Wears Prada with 2 and 3. I’ve watched several movies with 4.

Have seen you cry? 1, 4, 5. 5 hasn’t seen me cry but she has definitely heard me.

Have cooked you something? 6 and 7 :) They’re also the biggest mom friends on the list, so I’m not surprised.

Have a boyfriend/girlfriend? 1, 4, 6. I’m not sure if 2 and 3 are still together; we never get to update each other anymore. Have met your parents? 2, 3, 7 from a meeting we once held at my house. And 4 and 6, of course - they’re my mom’s favorites.

Have been to the same school/college as you? Everyone except 8.

About Number One What age are they? He turned 22 in June.

Have you met their parents? Never. He can’t give less of a shit about his dad so I don’t care for him, though. I know he’s super protective of his mom.

Have you ever been in a relationship with them? Not at all. He wouldn’t be my type, and like I said he’s a brother to me more than anything else.

Do they like most of your other friends? We mostly have mutual friends, so. I know he likes my best frieinds though - he was even the one who reminded me about putting Angela on my thesis acknowledgments.

How often do you two meet up and/or talk? Back in school we used to see each other around 1-2 days a week. He’s a little busier than I am since he takes side gigs, so he’s not in campus all the time.

When did you last argue? We’ve never fought but the last time I got quite upset with him was last December. We were rushing to get our thesis draft submitted on time and apparently he submitted the file to our professor’s VIBER. He for sure got an earful from me that day.

What is their favourite food? I’m not sure. He does tend to have unpopular food opinions so I wouldn’t be surprised if his favorite is not a common choice.

Where is their favourite place to be? On the basketball court or anywhere with Leigh, I’m guessing.

How many close friends do they have? I know of at least two - JM and Blanch. He is friendly and has an extensive circle though, so I’m sure I’m missing several other close friends of his.

Number Two What colour are their eyes? Dark brown.

Have they known you the longest? Not at all. I’ve only known her for three years.

Where were they born? I’m guessing it would either be Manila or Makati.

Why are they your number 2? She just fell on the second slot. I was trying to randomize my friends’ names and hers just turned out to be the second one I thought of.

Do they like children? I don’t know how she feels about them exactly but one thing I know is that she doesn’t hate kids, and we’ve had numerous conversations on what we’d do in certain scenarios involving kids.

Would they beat you in a race? I think so. But then again I did track at one point, so I’m walking onto that contest already with an advantage.

When did you last spend time alone together? Ugh c’mon man, this question is just sad. Jo had been hanging out at Skywalk less and less ever since most of the people in our friend group graduated last school year, so our last real hangout was probably that time we slept over at Laurice’s in June 2019. We never hung out a lot after that, and of course the lockdown just killed any chances we had of doing so.

Do they have a pet peeve? What is it? She has a lot of pet peeves but I can’t place any of them at the moment.

Number Three What is their hair colour? Black, as do most Filipinos.

What is their job, if they have one? Last I heard she got a gig with a major broadcasting network. I think she’s a segment producer? Segment researcher? Something of the sort.

Do they have their own place? I don’t think so; not just yet.

How many brothers or sisters do they have? I know she has a sister. I’ve forgotten if she has a brother.

Have you ever done something illegal with them? Yes hahaha illegal in university terms, at least. When we had free time and we saw that no one was using one of the classrooms in the college, our friend group snuck inside and played The Devil Wears Prada on the projector. As the only goody-two-shoes in the group I was super uneasy the whole time, but literally no faculty or staff checked in on us for the entire film. That was the moment I knew I was no longer in private school, where everyone watched you like a hawk lol.

How old were you when you met each other? I was 19, she was 21.

Are they more sporty, arty or academic? ARTSY. She’s one of the best artists I’ve ever seen and she can absolutely fucking slay any editorial cartoon.

Have you ever travelled out of country with this person? Nope. I would love to.

Person Four Do they have a favourite musician? St. Vincent’s been her fave for the longest time.

Have you drank alcohol with this person? Many times. When I drink she’s usually around.

Are their parents together? Yes.

What do you enjoy doing with them? EATING OUT!!! I also love going to new places and museum strolling with her, but yeah nothing works for me better than food with my favorite person.

Do they have long or short hair? Long.

Have you been to a concert with this person? Yes, when we went to (illegally) see Coldplay from the top of a parking lot. Still felt like we were part of the concert grounds though.

If you asked them to describe you, what do you think they would say? Determined, hates to lose, and annoyingly generous.

Person Five Where did you two meet? I met Hannah on our enrollment day for our sophomore year in college. She and Macy had transferred from UPLB to UPD and since Macy and I were already friends from high school, she introduced me to Hannah. Then we became a lot closer when it turned out we were both applying for the same org.

How long ago did they phone you? We both hate phone calls and we’d hate to call/be called.

Do they have a certain sport they play? I don’t think she’s very athletic herself, but she loves watching UAAP games and she has a particular affinity for volleyball.

What about them annoys you sometimes? I never found her annoying. I did notice that her one weakness as a co-worker is her fear of being assertive, putting her foot down, being confident to come up with her own steps on how to come up with steps towards a situation, that kind of stuff. She often wanted someone who she felt like was more knowledgeable to be by her side and make all the decisions. But I did see her bloom a bit after a few months, so I’m proud of the progress.

In what ways are they the opposite of you? She’s religious and she loves to sing and perform.

How many rooms do they have in their house? No clue; I’ve never been to her house. I’ve never even been to her city.

Person Six Can they play an instrument? I think she knows *a bit* of guitar. But she’s not crazy gifted when it comes to musical instruments, I know that much.

Are they close with their mother? VERY. And she has no reason not to be - her mom is the nicest and most compassionate person I’ve ever met. Always treated me like family.

How many times have you visited their house? Countless, especially in high school and in our first few years in college.

When did you last go out to eat together? Feb. It was one of the food stalls at The Palace and we needed to eat away all the alcohol lol.

Do they own a bike? I haven’t seen one in her place so I’m assuming no. Her neighborhood is not very bike-friendly to begin with, so it’s understandable.

Person Seven Would you ever consider dating this person? Probably not. She’s SO stable and happy; I’m still working on it. I wouldn’t want to dump my shit on her vibrant and bubbly outlook on life.

Are they or do they plan to go to college? To study what? Yes, she’s in her senior year now. She’s also taking up journalism – it’s how we met.

If they did something illegal, what would it be? I highly doubt that would ever happen lmao, she’s super nice and such a goody-two-shoes. If she got caught doing something illegal it’s 100% only because she was with someone who did the thing.

Person Eight Have you ever lied to this person? I probably have. We’ve only ever talked on social media, where it’s a lot easier to tell a tiny lie and get away with it.

Do you know their middle name and do they know yours? We know each others’ second names because have them put out on Facebook; but not our middle names.

Do they have any special talents? If she does, I don’t know about them. She’s amazing at writing though.

What is the first thing you notice about this person? Ever since the time she tweeted that she doesn’t like smiling with her teeth, her smile has always been the first thing I’m drawn to.

Do you like the same types of movies as this person? Not really. We met because she was friends with my friends who liked the same things she did, but when it comes to us we couldn’t really be any more different.

Can you remember all of their birthdays? I’ll give it a shot. June 22, December 31, December 5, June 5, January 16, September 15, May 23...and Aliyah’s is in early December, I’m certain.

Is there anything you regret saying to any of them? I guess only towards Gab, because I’m closest with her and we’ve been through the most together.

Which one of these has been there for you the most? Angela.

Which one have you known the longest and the shortest amount of time? I’ve been aware of Gabie the longest (18 years); been friends with Angela the longest (15 years); and been friends with Andrew the shortest (about a year and a half).

If you needed a laugh, you'd call... I wouldn’t call my friends if I needed help...but if I needed a laugh I’d turn to Anj or Andrew.

If you needed advice, you'd call... Mmm I’d pick among Andrew, Aya, Gabie, Angela, and Laurice.

Which one does your parents like the most? ANGELAAAAAAAA. She’s That friend that I can name-drop when I’m asking for permission to go out, and once my mom hears that she’s going to be with me she usually won’t hesitate to say yes haha.

Is there any of these your parents dislike? They don’t dislike any of them but I have a feeling they’ll disapprove of the fact that I made an online friend in Aliyah, especially my mom.

Do any of them share the same initials? Andrew and Aliyah do.

20. what are you most thankful for? i was in a dark place in my life for...a long time, so i’m incredibly grateful for the wonderful people i have in my life now who help keep me away from that place

22. have you ever met someone famous? literally the most random people. wesley stromberg from emblem3, kaylin white from kaylin and miles, & alli simpson (???) come to mind. also, one time, at a concert in, like, 2013, i met a bunch of youtube beauty gurus i used to watch back then. i don’t even remember who they all were, but one of them was claudia sulewski and i still adore her. i’ve met the members of my favorite band (the maine) multiple times, as well as cameron leahy from the downtown fiction (that was many, many years ago) and the members of the griswolds. ooh, and i met the 1975 at an album signing!

23. do you keep a diary or journal? i used to! i had one of those “one line a day” journals and i wrote in it every day for five years, but i finished it last year and since then i haven’t journaled at all

It’s friday night i’m by myself listening to music in my bed in the dark and i told all my friends to leave me alone but i don’t feel like journaling properly so i’m just going to do this as an exercise lol. Found this list in my drafts of my old account i made for my ex.. oh how times have changed since 2015.

flower crown: when did you last sing to yourself? just now i guess?

fairy lights: if a crystal ball could tell you the truth about anything, what would you want to know? who killed jonbenet ramsey???

daisies: what is the greatest accomplishment of your life? i don’t feel like i’ve accomplished much - actually got stuck on this question during a job interview (i didnt get the job lol) probably... finding my current job and seeing an actual path for my future for once.

1975: what is the first happy memory that comes to mind, recent or otherwise? telling my friends how much i love them saturday night.

matte: if you knew that in one year you would die suddenly, would you change anything about the way you are now living? drop out of cpa, quit my job, travel the world and send cards back home to my friends to remember me by.

black nail polish: do you have a bucket list? if so, what are the top three things? no bucket list... i just wanna travel the world...

overalls: what would you do with one billion dollars? probably pay off every debt my entire family has, and then invest the rest and treat my family & friends nice.

combat boots: are you a very forgiving person? do you like being this way? sometimes. I can be pretty petty sometimes, but I think it’s a defense mechanism. Sometimes i wish i could take the high road but sometimes they don’t deserve it lol.

I think this song reminded me that it’s ok to have differences between you and your s/o. I think it made me an open minded person, and open to flaws and acceptance. I think it also got me through a time when I was losing myself and it reminded me that it’s ok to be different and like what you like, as long as you know what you like, you know?

cry baby: list the concerts you have been to and talk about how they make you feel.

Us the Duo - went with my ex when we were about to break up. gave me hope that we could work things out because they sang our song and we held each other but it didn’t end up working out. i still have a bad habit of attaching people to music

Daniel Caesar - went with my best friend, we found a spot near the side of the stage and interacted a lot with the drummer - he actually was the highlight of the night the way he enjoyed himself so much. It was freezing out but it was honestly such a warming sensation being in that venue.

HONNE - went with a group of friends, i actually introduced them all to HONNE, it was amazing singing those songs with them, it bonded us but also marked the end of our time together.

grunge: who in the world would you most like to receive a letter from and what would you want it to say? i would love a letter from my grandpa telling me everything that happened to him during the war.

space: do you have a desk/workspace and how is it organised/not organised? It’s not lol.

white bed sheets: what is your night time routine? brush teeth, hop in bed, scroll on phone for hours, sleep

2. Would you prefer to live in the country or in the city? in the city. i love the feeling of everything all bustling, busy, and lit-up around me.

3. If you could learn a new skill, what would it be? this is going to sound sort of weird but i’ve been really tempted to learn lockpicking lately? so i’ll say that haha!

4. do you drink your tea/coffee with sugar? ........yes, a lot of sugar. probably “too much” sugar.

5. What was your favourite book as a child? i hadn’t thought about this series in ages but i loved The Land of Elyon series and also Dealing with Dragons. 6. Do you prefer baths or showers? showers! my old roommate loved baths and so i tried to get into them but its just not my thing.

7. If you could be a mythical creature, which one would you be? something with magical powers!

8. Paper or electronic books? i always say that i prefer paper but... when was the last time I actually read a hardcopy book? i have no idea. so truthfully, electronic.

23. Do you keep a diary or journal? nope. i used to keep a planner and even that didn’t last haha

24. Do you prefer to use pen or pencil? pencil if i’m working on something where i’ll make mistakes like writing or math but pen if im just jotting down notes or whatever.

If money was not a factor, how would you live your life? i would travel so much. if money wasn’t a factor i wouldn’t have to worry about affording to travel OR being able to take time off to do so... it would be great. i wouldn’t always choose the best value option when i purchased anything and would be able to actually support brands that have good values (sustainability, good wages for employees, etc.). i would donate to everything i’ve ever wanted to bc i always feel bad about having to pick which causes i feel most for bc i can’t afford to donate to everything. also i would drink way too much boba (which, let’s be real, i already do).

What do you regret most? not going to see Def Leppard and Journey when they were less than an hour away 2 years ago. Yes, I couldn’t drive back then, so there was really no way I could’ve gotten there and back (and I could’ve BARELY gotten a floor ticket to begin with, it would’ve cost like half the money I had to my name), but with the Stadium Tour being delayed ANOTHER year I feel like 2 years ago was the only chance I’ll ever have had to see my favorite band :c so even though it was basically impossible for me to go, and a lot of the factors of that were out of my control, I still feel like I blew it, and wish I tried literally everything I possibly could’ve done (like just buy the ticket and figure out how to get there later, call everyone I could think of to try and hitch a ride). Even if I did so, there was still a VERY, VERY slim chance that I could’ve ended up going by some goddamned MIRACLE okay I’ll shut up now sorry I’m just still very upset even so much time later
