My writing is nothing without an editor, and it was great to get to work with friends from the HP AU in a new context and to make new friends through writing and editing! Thank you all for your hard work, and a double-triple thank you to ladyofthenoodle and the rest of the Miraculous Square Dance team for putting on this event. It has been so much fun! I haven't gotten to write this consistently since I had the HP AU. I was back into doing 3-5k a week again, and it felt so good. Thank you!!

A logo design I did as a joke for a tabletop game I'm in where we were laughing about the idea of a Bass Pro Shops type megastore but for the fey Wild Hunt, and also the mental image of an armor-clad fey warrior atop a dread steed with his coursing hounds leading the charge after you, and you see him wearing a Bass Pro Shops hat.

due to Life Circumstances, writing charity commissions has become unfortunately untenable u_u BUT boy howdy there sure a lot of things that could do with support, so i was thinking it might be fun to send postcards in thanks for charitable donations! there’ll be a minimum donation requirement (else i’d be better off donating the cost of postage myself) and a one-a-month-per-person limit, but on the flip side upon sending me a receipt u can request the content of the postcard (i.e. from me, from artist me (scribbles that are terrible but loving), from Batman, go buckwild fam).

so let me know if this is something u would be up for in the notes! if there’s enough interest, i’ll try and get me up and running in june!

Since there isn’t a way to complain about this on Goodreads, I’m doing it here! Why even use this gorshforsaken website...

Just popped over to look at my books read in 2021 and discovered a book I’ve never seen or heard of on the list. Turns out it’s a collection of short stories. Last year, read a short story called The Semplica Girl Diaries by George Saunders. It was listed as its own entry because it was independently published in The New Yorker, you can actually read it here (it’s great give it a shot).

But apparently Goodreads doesn’t consider magazine-published short stories their own “books” if they are also published in a collection, so they automatically turned every individual short story from this collection into this book. Annoying for two reasons: now I can’t list that individual short story as “read” anywhere on my Goodreads, which is inconvenient and ridiculous because there are so very many short stories listed on Goodreads with seemingly no objection from their librarians.

And even worse, the sin of ugliness has been committed, because now instead of the very beautiful and evocative “cover” art of The Semplica Girl Diaries (left) we only get this uninspired cover “art” of Tenth of December (right). Who came up with this atrocious design? If the art had looked good I wouldn’t be so mad, but the longer I look at it the more I become Lord Henry Wotton.
