Like I was saying.
The chest piece wasn't so tricky but my word, that head is a pain. Especially since I was doing it with the wrong starting point for the curves for the first six attempts. Still, I think I've finally got a basic shape that I'm happy with. Might need to tweak it a bit, but it'll certainly work for building/positioning the frame's head.
I will almost certainly be doing the full standard Graze armour sooner rather than later, because this is actually starting to look really bloody nice.
(Excuse the slightly half-baked render for the back; it is very late here and I am very tired so I am not leaving it longer than necessary to show off the general level of progress achieved this week.)

I like a lot of the MS from Gundam Wing but I feel that Epyon is extremely stupid
this, like the Deathscythe and its permutations, is the Gundam of a thirteen year old who shops at Hot Topic exclusively

HGAC 1/144 OZ-06MS Leo SEVEN-LEO ARMY UNITS 1 & 2 (standard type, cannon type)
Building the Tallgeese put me in a bit of an After Colony mood, which diverted me from both my usual focus on Universal Century mobile suits and my preference for the 1/100 scale.
Much like the Tallgeese itself, I'd always been fond of the Leo, Gundam Wing's extremely destructible common grunt suit. Between its utilitarian, no-nonsense design and funny little TV head, the Leo is both believable and charmingly quirky. I'd always found Leos appealing and wanted to build one, but the only kit ever produced was a non-grade offering in 1/144 scale from 1996 (which I've still never ever actually seen).
...That is until the Leo came to the High Grade After Colony line in 2018.
I became aware of the HGAC Leo as I returned to Gunpla work in 2021, after 10 years away from the hobby. Although I'd always been disinterested in the smaller 1/144 scale, my longstanding desire to build the suit and the very positive reviews of this particular model were enough to convince me to give it a try. Plus, as such a small kit, the low price tag represented a negligible sunk cost even if I ended up disliking it.
Tumblr media
Reader, it turns out the HGAC Leo is the Pringles of Gunpla. It is so easy and fun to build, so outstandingly posable and expressive, and so cute that it's all but impossible to resist the notion of building a whole squad of them. I was further compelled into this rabbit-hole by the discovery of the full weapon set kit, a P-Bandai offering that includes the whole arsenal of assorted Leo weapons, as well as option parts for equipment variations. Deciding to build one little Leo quickly snowballed into raising a small army of them.
After some calculation to determine how to divvy up the armaments from the full weapon set, I concluded seven Leos would be the right number to build. Thus began my Seven-Leo Army project.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
After the first Leo, which I equipped simply with a shield and beam sabers, I used some of the option parts from the full weapon set to make the cannon type variant for my second unit. Knowing I would have many extra parts for the Leo's standard drum-fed machine gun, I gave unit 2 a pair of them to double down on its double-barreled vibe.

Ok, so a little into my world and hobbies. Yes, I'm a cliché TGirl Gundam Pilot as it were, lol. I cut my teeth on Gundam Wing 🪽 back in the late 90s Toonami. Even tried early GUNPLA with what models you could find then...
But I've enjoyed getting back into building them and have an art project planned with HEAVYARMS and the battle damaged LEO.
And backlog models. Wouldn't be a true pilot if I didn't have backlog GUNPLA

#hilariously enough!; I also imagined Satellite having a Local Hand Commmunication!#Love that we over lap on some thoughts here#this has a lot of some of the things I'd rotated in getting Yusei through a panic attack or just days too much like Bad Times#yell at me to post those
As per your tags, consider this me yelling at you to post about this because I genuinely would like to hear it, pLEASE, I live for this kind of thing, lol
Aye aye! Thankie for the reminder, lemme cook that up, big posr style.
So, Yusei is absolutely not walking away from the plot of 5Ds without being a lil bit fucked up. And while Satellite has given him the ability to simply say 'I will put my nose straight through the grindstone and ignore what is happening to me' (for better or for worse), he also has friends that think it important to help him out.
Leo, our wonderful ball of sunshine, can clock immediately when Yusei is in a certain kind of funk that he can handle. He calls it 'Old Paper White' or 'New Paper White' (if Yusei's freaked out enough to go pale). 'Old Paper White' means that Leo can generally goad Yusei into a duel on the work bench, and bemoan his loss in a way to get Yusei to focus on tips and assistance and generally just Big Brothering Leo until he relaxes. 'New Paper' is trickier, because it's probably a deuling related nightmare at the cause. Which means it's time for different games, be it activity books or putting together plastic models together. Leo would definitely enjoy the Duel Monsters Counterpart of Gunpla, and I think Yusei would find the gentle rhythm of 'Snip piece, connect piece' soothing.
Luna's tactics are fairly similar, though with a different approach. She's armed with fidgit toys and puzzles and big long words and her big wide eyes. She'll word tasks very specifically as 'can you help me with this' or 'can you do this for me', and generally weaponises her Baby Sister Status for his benefit. Because it leans on Yusei's 'Can and Will Do Anything For His Friends' part of his will power, she can get him to focus on small tasks like getting to a safe place or solving a rubix cube until he's calmer.
Crow has been spending years knowing the exact balance of 'filling silence' and 'engaging questions' for Yusei to steady himself to. Crow knows all the gossip, what friends are where, interesting mechanical news, all the safe topics. Crow also knows the exact tone of voice to use that signals that nothing is happening, because it's a very different and specific tone of voice to 'we're pretending to be unaware of cops/gangs/attackers' from back when they were younger. He's also totally clued in to what Yusei's different levels on non-verbal answers or non-answers mean, so he can focus on Yusei without focusing *so much* on Yusei that it stresses him out.
Aki's learned the exact levels and kinds of white noise helps Yusei out. Too much or the wrong sounds and he gets over-stimmed or stressed out, too little makes him anxious because actual silence means something bad is about to happen. She also uses a few meditation techniques with him; she may have learned them at Arcadia, but she controls what she knows now. They're both at least a little fond of it; panic attacks or nightmares aren't something that you can fight physically, but this is almost close. Aki's also the one most on top of making sure he takes a painkiller and eats something afterwards, because he always gets a huge headache from being so tense, and he *will* try and just work through it if left to his own devices.
Jack's the only person who can safely goad Yusei into hitting him without Yusei getting *too* wrapped up in being guilty about it. It's very much not a 'Jack deserves to be hurt' thing, but that it's equal measures of that Jack's Always Gonna Do What He Wants and years of Jack-To-Yusei wordless communication between the two of them. He asks for it because he can take it and Yusei can't. It's a Rivals Thing:tm:. It also helps when Crow rolls his eyes and tells Jack off about it like nothing happened. If they can hit a duel, great, but if we're at the bottom option, Jack is of course the one who knows how to be callous to be kind.

Just finished Endless Waltz, and it is absolutely fantastic. I loved every second of that movie. Took everything that was good in Gundam Wing and turned the dial up to eleven. Got just that little bit extra backstory for the pilots. More Tallgeese is always a good thing. I like the TV versions of the suits better in every case other than the Deathscythe Hell, that one's about equal with the TV appearance I'd say. Give Heavyarms back it's orange damn it!
Absolute pacifism was always a weak ideal in the show, mostly because it just sort of worked all the time just by Relena talking. It was only ever really opposed by war mongers. Endless Waltz finally shows the struggle that is maintaining peace and peaceful attitudes in a way outside of having some cartoonish monarchist/fascist practically look at the camera and call it naive before being proven wrong very shortly after. Which was fine in the show really, as I said in a previous post, Wing tried doing a lot with it's plot that it couldn't fully support, and the end result was some plot points that just never sat quite right.
Mariemaia was a seven year old trying to become a world dictator. She was just a puppet of course. Sort of a Haman and Mineva situation there. But every time she'd open her mouth to try and sound smart I could only think, "You are literally seven, what the hell are you talking about?" Which was funny.
My favorite suits from the series and movie would be the Tallgeese with the Tallgeese II be my favorite iteration, the Wing Gundam of course with Unit 01 the first iteration being my favorite of those, the Sandrock, and the Deathscythe Hell TV version. I liked the Leos and Tauruses, but the rest of the grunt suits just weren't big hits with me. I'd put the Leo above the Taurus, but I would also say that everything I like about the Leo, the Graze from Iron Blooded Orphans does the same but better.
Over all an okay to good series with a fantastic ending. I don't know if I'd watch the whole series over again, but I'd absolutely re-watch Endless Waltz. Next up is War in the Pocket followed by Stardust Memory and Thunderbolt, but before that I'm going to take a small break from Gundam. I may have only just started posting about the shows with Turn A, but I have been watching Gundam basically nonstop since around the August last year. Going from G-Witch, to IBO, to The Origin, 0079 the series, Zeta, Double Zeta, Char's Counterattack, 08th MS Team, Unicorn, Narrative, Turn A, and now Wing and Endless Waltz. It's been a lot, and I am ready to watch some shorter shows without giant robots in them... for at least a little bit. I'm thinking I go back to Gundam in February. I'll still be posting pictures of Gunpla I build in the meantime, but that's a lot different than sitting down and watching multiple shows that are around fifty epsiodes each. See ya!
(Edited to add Narrative into the list. A movie so self contained I literally forgot to put it in with the rest of Gundam.)

OZ-00MS Tallgeese
Tumblr media
Origin: Mobile Suit Gundam Wing (Anime)
Timeline: After Colony (A.C)
Unit Type: Prototype General-Purpose Mobile Suit
Pilot(s): Zechs Merquise
Developer: OZ
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
TECHNOLOGY AND DEVELOPMENT
The first ever armed mobile suit, the Tallgeese was the creation of the five scientists behind Operation Meteor, and the grandfather of both the Gundams (Specifically the Wing Gundam Zero), and the mass-produced military MS.
It was a well-rounded unit with powerful long-range and melee weapons, while also sporting heavy armor coupled with high power boosters. It featured powerful "Super Vernier" boosters that could dish out an acceleration of about 15 Gs, but it put a lot of strain on the pilot. This and other aspects of the Tallgeese's design were simplified when creating the Leo to reduce production costs and solve the problem of the strain on the pilot.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
EQUIPMENT
The Tallgeese's primary ranged weapon was the Dober Gun. A high-powered cartridge gun, it was mounted at the right shoulder and could fire beams at an excellent rate with good long range accuracy. For defense, it carried a round shield on the left shoulder that also stored a pair of beam sabers on its back. Finally, it also used a handheld missile pod consisting of two triple missile launchers connected by a grip in the center.
Just like the Gundams, the Tallgeese was also equipped with a self-destruct system, a last option tactic if the pilot couldn't protect the suit and didn't want it to fall into enemy hands. This explosion could have enough power to destroy several city blocks or other large targets if it was necessary.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
HISTORY
Designed in A.C 170 by the five scientists, the Tallgeese was extremely powerful, but expensive to mass-produce and harsh on its pilots, so the design was simplified; resulting in the Leo. In A.C 195, it was restored by an OZ soldier named Otto, and then used by Zechs Merquise to fight the Gundams.
One of the original designers of the Tallgeese, Mike Howard, equipped it with a large detachable booster unit so that it could escape Earth's atmosphere after Zechs defected from OZ.
In the end, the Tallgeese was destroyed via its own self-destruct system. Its remaining spare parts were later used to develop the Tallgeese II.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
LEGACY
After its destruction, Treize Khushrenada would design the OZ-00MS2 Tallgeese II using the original's spare parts. It retained the equipment of the original and sported a new color scheme and visual design.
Tumblr media
------------------OZ-00MS2 Tallgeese II------------------
At the same time the Tallgeese II was being built, the OZ-00MS2B Tallgeese III, a new iteration based on the previous two models, was being developed, but it wouldn't be until A.C 196 where it would be finished and given to Zechs to pilot once again. This suit would feature three new weapons, a new head design and shoulder armor.
Tumblr media
----------------OZ-00MS2B Tallgeese III------------------
In New Mobile Report Gundam Wing Endless Waltz: The Glory of Losers, a new variant of the Tallgeese would be introduced named the OZ-00MS Tallgeese Flugel. This version would be outfitted for space use, and replaced the original thruster units on the back with four angelic wing binders lined with numerous thrusters, giving the Tallgeese more speed and maneuverability.
Tumblr media
---------------OZ-00MS Tallgeese Flugel----------------
Finally, there was a custom Gunpla based on the Tallgeese in Gundam Build Fighters called the OZ-00MSVa Tallgeese Valkyrie and built by Greco Logan, the US champion.
Tumblr media
-------------OZ-00MSVa Tallgeese Valkyrie--------------
Personal Opinion: Every version of it looks amazing, I think my favorite is either the Flugel or the II. Definitely one of Wing's most iconic mobile suits.

HGAC 1/144 OZ-06MS Leo SEVEN-LEO ARMY UNIT 6 (Zechs Merquise loadout)
Since it was the sixth one, I equipped this unit with the loadout Zechs uses in the first episode of Gundam Wing: dober gun, shield, and parachute pack.
