Believe it or not, but this crossover ship was originally created from teaser trailers of Moana and after the film itself was released people had started to drift away from it. While shipping Moana with other characters, since Guy has a canon love interest and she doesn't. That is why some of you may have never heard about Guyana/Guyoana. That is why I decided to create a crossover ship collage on Guy x Moana, in hopes that it will get people to remember it or get them to see what the people that started this pairing had saw.

Augustin is hanging out with naps in late 1793 when he suddenly gets a vision about the future and learns naps will make himself emperor and put an end to the republic in six years so he pulls out a gun and shoots naps in the head with it. What would happen then? And can someone please write that fanfic?
Okay hear me out: Black Book-esque movie with this plot.

“Dutch King apologizes for Netherlands’ role in slavery.”
The Dutch/Netherlands abducted slaves from West Africa; hosted the Dutch West India Company; operated an extensive profitable sugar plantation industry built on slave labor; and established colonies in the greater Caribbean region including sites at Aruba, Curaçao, Sint Maarten, Bonaire, and the adjacent “Wild Coast” (land between the Orinoco and Amazon rivers, including Guyana and Suriname). Many of these places remained official colonies until between the 1950s and 1990s.

This list only covers the Caribbean.
But outside of the region, there is also the legacy of the Dutch East India Company; over 250 years of Dutch slavers and merchants in Gold Coast and wider West Africa; about 200 years of Dutch control in Bengal (the same region which would later become an engine of the British Empire’s colonial wealth extraction); over a century of Dutch control in Sri Lanka/Ceylon; Dutch operation of the so-called “Cultivation System” (”Cultuurstelsei”) in the nineteenth century; Dutch enforcement of brutal forced labor regimes at sugar plantations in Java, which relied on de facto indentured laborers who were forced to sign contracts or obligated to pay off debt and were “shipped in” from other islands and elsewhere in Southeast Asia (a system existing into the twentieth century); the “Coolie Ordinance” (”Koelieordonnanties”) laws of 1880 which allowed plantation owners to administer punishments against disobedient workers, resulting in whippings, electrocutions, and other cruel tortures (and this penal code was in effect until 1931); and colonization of Indonesian islands including Sumatra and Borneo, which remained official colonies of the Netherlands until the 1940s.

idk maybe this is too big, but beatrice’s reaction at receiving diego’s email in 🐸 🗺? i really really like how you write their attraction towards one another. and here’s a set of 🌮🌮
[thank u for the tacos, maybe i'll have some birria later :)]
//
it's not a good day.
it's not a bad day, either, really.
you got out of bed in the morning. you ate breakfast — congee with an egg and some peanuts. you did the physical therapy exercises you're supposed to have kept up for your shoulder, even though it's been two years; they still help, especially when it's cold and rainy, so you do them. you went to the climbing gym, earlier than lilith ever would; you make your way up some V6s and V7s, but with no enjoyment, sluggish and tired for no reason. you went back to your loft — you'd signed the lease a few months ago under mary and shannon gentle urging and lilith's not-so-gentle demand, because even if you're not here often, beatrice, you need a home. you showered in the dark, blatantly ignoring whatever scars still sting sometimes. you washed your hair with expensive shampoo and conditioner a stylist you like — who lets you sit in the chair in silence she allows to be comfortable and doesn't pester, doesn't try to get you to try anything feminine, schedules you for trims you prefer more frequently than not if you're in town — and try, very hard, to feel real. you dried off, and put on comfortable clothes, and ate lunch, some leftover jerk salmon from the night before.
time moves weirdly on the days where it's not good enough to be solid but not bad enough to cease to exist at all. your therapist says this is normal for people with ptsd, but nothing feels normal about it. it feels like you're underwater, or like that one time when you were eighteen and got completely crossfaded at a party mary and shannon had thrown: everything is hard, and slow, and before you know it, it's nearing four and the light is fading.
you have things you need to do: photographs you need to edit; contracts you need to sign; to start coordinating a tentative upcoming trip to antarctica and south georgia this summer. you make yourself tea and will yourself to at the very least check your email; shannon had said that it helps her when she's having a bad day to set up one task she can do, to ease everything just a bit. you haven't really moved in, not in the way you should: you have a big desk, multiple monitors, all the gear you could hope for; you have a big bed, too soft, sometimes, and a couch. you have a nice, large tv on the wall. you have a few dishes and pots and pans in the kitchen. you have what you need in the bathroom: a toothbrush and a razor and toilet paper and your skincare serums and two clean towels, bar soap from mary dragging you to the farmer's market. you have nice olive oil and two throw pillows. you have a custom hangboard against one wall. there's empty space everywhere, your loft far bigger than you would ever need. not a home, not yet, in any way you can really feel, at least today. especially today.
but you boot up your desktop computer, because you are steadfast and there are still things you need to do, still things you need to shoot so you can show the world what matters. what has to matter, far beyond you and your small life.
most of your emails are boring — the option to do sponsored content for a new camera; an updated contract for an upcoming documentary you're going to help photograph for; a notification that the film you had ordered had, indeed, shipped — but there's one from someone you have never heard of that catches your eye.
you read through it, twice: someone named diego, a grad student at a university in the city, had emailed on behalf of his advisor, dr. ava silva, wondering if you might want to partner on an expedition to guyana. they need a climber, and diego claims that dr. silva loves your photography. you remember, vaguely, from an article before you had — before — that dr. silva apparently has some sort of preternatural ability to find new species of frog, and so it's intriguing, the prospect. everything feels more solid, like you're coming up for air after holding your breath for too long, when you think about the rainforest, and this little project and its simple, pure, important goal. you google ava silva phd frog and there's a link to a bunch of scientific journals, a formal headshot from the university — dr. silva is, well, beautiful, and young — and then, like the world rights itself, a picture of dr. silva smiling, dirty in the way only the real wild can produce, grinning with real joy. she holds a tiny frog — bright blue — in the palm of her gloved hand. there's green behind her, all around her.
if nothing else, you think, you'd like to meet this dr. ava silva, who finds such clear joy in small creatures, in making sure they're seen, and recognized, and named.
you email diego back, offering to be connected to dr. silva, because you want to know more. you order dinner and watch something that makes you laugh and even fish out some chocolate for dessert. you wash your face and moisturize; you brush your teeth; you fold back your duvet neatly. it's a life, you think, one that you are determined, even if it's hard, even if it's impossible, to make worthwhile. maybe tomorrow you'll get to learn more about the world from someone who fills it so fully. maybe tomorrow will feel clear. maybe tomorrow will be a good day after all.

UK to send naval ship to Guyana amid Venezuela border dispute - Reuters
The deployment follows a visit by a British junior foreign minister to Guyana earlier this month, intended to offer the UK's support for the country, an ally and former British colony.[...]
Britain will deploy the Royal Navy patrol vessel HMS Trent, the ministry of defence said in a statement, without referring to Venezuela or the border dispute. "HMS Trent will visit regional ally and Commonwealth partner Guyana later this month as part of a series of engagements in the region during her Atlantic Patrol Task deployment," a spokesperson said.

Awakening yourself
Game/Anime: Persona 5
Charakter: Akira kurusu/ Ren Amamiya (Protagonist),
Ship's: Akira X Fem! Reader, Guyana X Yusuke, Ann X Ryuji, Haru X Makoto.
Warnings: mentioning of child abuse, gore, mentioning of self harm, death, mentioning of suicide, fluff, blood.
A/N: This was an idea from myself. I just love Akira/ Ren and he ist just argh. All talk parts are coloured as follows: Akira, Ryuji, you, you brother, your persona. Others are white Now let's start
Tumblr media
It was simpl, really. You knew that your boyfriend Akira was involved with the Phantomthieves ever sense the Kamushida incident. However you didn't though that he wer they're leader. Unaware to him, you hade followd him and his team in EVERY single Castle and fought your way through the shadows behind them. NONE of them notice't. Not even Akechi. But then they got in to the Castle of your Brother. And that's were you drew the line.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"How dear you!? I WILL DO AS I WISH!!!"
You brother screamed at Joker, Holding hin in the black Tentacle that came from the back of his torso (like kaneki from Tokyo Ghoul!). He squeezed Your Boyfriend so hard that he started coughing blood.
"joker!"
Skull's voice echoed through the big room they were in. All of the other thieves trapped in a cage. You saw it all. How your partner was so close to dieing. Everything rushed back. All the trauma that you hade to experience! A flashback rolled Infront of your eyes:
____________________________________
"You are useless!"
You looked up to your mother who was in Rage about what you just hade done. All the progress she made was gone and you caused it. She grabt you by the neck, holding you, as you started to suffocate. Your throat sore and you body unable to move.
____________________________________
You feeld a pain in your chest. Seeing this happing to Akira too made you incredibly angry. So you just wend for it!
"Oi!!! Lett him go Nee-san!!!"
With one leg in a rock you stood there. All eyes on you.
"Y/N?"
Your boyfriend's voice was quite and broken. You jumpt from the statue you were standing on, in you hand a pistol. Said pistol was now pointed at your Older brother.
"Why? Why should I Y/N!?"
Y/B/N shouted. You smiled softly.
"because the boy you are currently suffocating if my fucking Partner"
And with that you Shot you brother in the tentacles, causing him to drop Akira. You made sure that Akira was safe and ready to figth before you lett your guard down. Your Brother looked at you. Then he started screaming again:
"if it wasn't for you Mom and dad would never be in jail rigth now!!! And Grandma would also be alive. I hate you so much!!!!"
You looked him directly in the eye's. His face looked like the one of a zombie. Patches of skinn weren't even there, wich mend you could see muscle and bones. But you still looked at him with confidence:
"I am done listening to you going on and on and on about me being the problem. You are just spoilt rotten! And I will no longer bow to you!!!"
Suddenly you heard a voice. A male, calming voice.
"you hade me waiting quiet a while Y/N. Will you continue take the blame? Or will you make your own path?"
A sharp pain flue through your body. You started to Shake. But you didn't give in to the pain.
"I am not going to fool myself any longer! I am done!!!"
"well then. Let's form a pact shall we. I am thou, thou art I! Call you my name! Let everyone hear your Roar of revange!"
You mask appeared on you face. It looked like Akira's just in black withe a red base.
"now way! Y/N too?"
Morgana yelled. But you paid no minde.
"I hear you..... Come to me....."
Your ripped the mask of your face. Blood everywhere.
"Karma!!!!!"
The blood truning to blue fine as you finally activated you full potential. You're persona Standing behind you. A men in shackles and chains. The red outfit reviling much of his none existent Body. Your on the other hand got some real glow up. Your Withe hier was in a high ponytail, the ends now pure black. But you outfit spoke for itself.
Tumblr media
And your weapon? A very,VERY large fan (just like Temari from Naruto) with your secondary weapons being a gun. You smiled and clutched your Hands into a fist. Then you took you Fan and got ready to Atack your brother.
"you are beautiful darling"
Akira was right next to you, ready to end this once and for all! And so you did.
"so this is the backslash? Dean it not only Hurts but I am tired as heck."
Your were Laying in Akira's bed after returning from the Metarverse. Everything hurt and you couldn't really stay awake. Awakening your rebel self had taken a good tal on you. But you didn't mind. Afterall you are in Akira's arms rigth now. Its just you 2. The others were already gone and Morgana out for a walk.
"are you okey?"
Akira's voice was soft but you could see that he was worried.
"I think I should ask you that. Y/B/N nearly crushed you."
Akira Smile's at your comment.
"I'm fine. Now go to sleep"
And that's exactly what you did.
G Gundam meta notes part... The last one! Episodes 45-49
"Rain's Crisis: Return Of The Devil Gundam"
-not to downplay your stakes, George, but you learned that you didn't have to hang everything on that sense of duty you fought for, so of course you're the most likely to feel fulfilled even though you lost
-I heard that passive-aggression, Argo
-dammit I have to rip off my headphones every time Domon sobs
-okay, what was that? Shuffle Alliance empathy?
-I still maintain that Chibodee's crack about "if you can't decide, then I'll get Rain and make her mine" was specifically to get under Domon's skin and get the guy to do something - I mean, am I the only one who hears the sheer level of "ughhhh you idiot" in his voice?
-Sai is so upset over this!! I would almost make a joke about his ship sinking, but for real, this seems to hit a nerve with him!
-I know that the dub is swear-free, but I really would've loved that "Jesus" in this voice
-I'm pretty sure I have that A/N scene memorized at this point, and I have meta about it already so I don't want to repeat myself
-okay so under what circumstances do people get sentenced to stasis?
-"YOU FREAK"
-"RING THE BELL, DOMON KASSHU"
"Devil Colony Activated: Attack Of The Shuffle Alliance" / "Earth's S.O.S.: Rescue Gundam Federation" / "God Gundam's Great Triumph: A Hopeful Future; Ready, Go!"
-I think there's room to say something about the contrast of a destructive rivalry (Drs Kasshu vs Mikamura) to all the constructive ones we see
-Chibodee going Leeroy Jenkins once again - and bruh didn't you just say "don't be careless" a few minutes ago?
-OH GOOD, TIME TO SCREAM ABOUT THE POWER OF FRIENDSHIP
-"I heard that Major Ulube was shredded, that Major Ulube had an eight-pack"
-awkwardly long laughter to fill in where nobody wants to say "we care about you, you idiot"
-I have at least half a feeling about, in a group setting, Chibodee being the one to pull out Domon's words in a tight spot, and most of it is in the delivery
-LEEROY GODDAMN JENKINS
-Shirley looks like she's about to vomit at the sight of DG!Ulube
-I am eating up these vocal performances!!
-Domon has had so fucking much asked of him, of course he's gonna stick his neck out for what little he has left of his crumbling life
-god fucking damnit I wish this ship had been built up… better? More evenly? Not been stomped on so hard by Domon's fuckery before coming back to it? (Because honestly I could almost buy it by the end of Guyana, and then…) Honest to God I want to like this more, and I like the potential that lives in the fucked-up circumstances that brought them together, but godfuckingdammit
-I find it amusing that, for Argo and Nastasha, even a cheek kiss is apparently too private to be shown onscreen
King Charles III and Prince William have expressed “profound sorrow” at the atrocities of slavery, but neither has publicly accepted the crown’s central role in the trade. Over a period of 270 years, 12 British monarchs sponsored, supportedor profited from Britain’s involvement in slavery, according to historians.
Elizabeth I (reigned 1558-1603)
The Tudor queen gave a large royal ship to the slave trader John Hawkins in 1564 in exchange for a share in the profits of the voyage. On the trip, Hawkins captured many African people and seized 600 more from Portuguese ships, according to Nick Hazlewood in his book The Queen’s Slave Trader.
James I (1603-1625)
The first Stuart king granted royal-connected merchants a monopoly on trade with Africa. They formed the Guinea Company, which provided enslaved people for English-owned tobacco plantations in Virginia, America, according to Peter Fryer’s book Staying Power.
Charles I (1625-1649)
Tumblr media
Charles II (1660-1685)
The first king after the monarchy was restored, following England’s brief period as a republic, in effect made the slave trade a state-sponsored enterprise. He invested in a slave-trading business, the Company of Royal Adventurers of England Trading into Africa, and gave it a royal charter.
When the company was dissolved in 1672, the king moved his patronage to the Royal African Company. This company would transport more enslaved people from Africa to the Americas than any other single organisation in the history of the transatlantic trade.
James II (1685-1688)
James was governor of the Royal African Company and was awarded 500 guineas for his “extraordinary services”in 1677.
As king he was the company’s largest shareholder until he sold the shares after he was deposed in the “Glorious Revolution” of 1688. According to the historian KG Davies in his book The Royal African Company, James made £6,210 from his investment – equivalent to £1m today, according to the most conservative estimate.Quick Guide
What is Cost of the crown?
William III (1689-1702) and Mary II (1689-1694)
Tumblr media
Queen Anne (1702-1714)
Queen Anne is remembered for the union of England and Scotland in 1707, which formed the United Kingdom of Great Britain. She also dramatically expanded the nation’s slave-trading activities by securing from Spain in 1713 the Asiento de negros, a monopoly right to supply enslaved African people to Spain’s colonies in South America. This contract was fulfilled by the South Sea Company.
George I (1714-1727)
George I was governor of the South Sea Company and held a substantial shareholding.
Histories of the company overwhelmingly dwell on the “South Sea bubble” – the 1720 rise and the collapse of the company’s share price. Few focus on the nature of its business – the Asiento contract to supply 4,800 adult, healthy males to Latin America annually.
John Carswell, in his book The South Sea Bubble, calculated that despite the collapse in shares, the king made a large profit from his investment.
George II (1727-1760)
Tumblr media
George III (1760-1820)
An essay George III wrote as a teenager, arguing that slavery had no moral basis, has been cited by some as evidence that the future king was opposed to it. But he supported the continuation of the slave trade and slavery, and opposed the abolition movement behind the scenes, according to research by the historian Brooke Newman for her forthcoming book, The Queen’s Silence.
George IV (1820-1830)
George IV’s lack of support for the growing movement to abolish slavery also helped to delay emancipation for years. His reign was marked by ruthless suppression of uprisings by enslaved people in the Caribbean.
These included the response in Demerara, Guyana, in 1823. According to Michael Taylor, in his book The Interest, British authorities reacted with a massacre, on-the-spot executions, and sentences of whipping. Ten enslaved people who rebelled were hanged then decapitated, and their heads were displayed on spikes.
William IV (1830-1837)
William IV was king at the time slavery was abolished in 1833, but he had always opposed abolition.
Before becoming king, he held the title Duke of Clarence and spent time in the Caribbean, where he befriended plantation owners and boasted of contracting a sexual disease. He devoted speeches in the Lords to defending slavery, arguing that it was vital to prosperity, and he argued that enslaved people were “comparatively in a state of humble happiness”.
Clarence House, today’s home of King Charles III and Camilla, the Queen Consort, was built for William IV in the late 1820s.
Martyrs of the Hulks of Rochefort
In 1790 the French Revolutionary authorities passed a law requiring priests to swear allegience to the civil constitution, which would effectively remove them from the authority of, and allegience to, Rome. Many refused, and in 1791 the government began deporting them to French Guyana. 827 priests and religious were imprisoned on hulks (old ships no longer sea-worthy and used for storage, jails, hospitals, etc.) at Rochefort, France to await exile, most on the Deux-Associés and the Washington which had previously been used to house slaves or prisoners. There they were basically ignored to death as there was little provision for food and water, less for sanitation, and none at all for medical help. 542 of the prisoners died there.
The survivors were freed on 12 February 1795 and allowed to return to their homes. Many of them wrote about their time on the hulks, and many of them wrote about the faith and ministry of those who had died. 64 of them have been positively identified and confirmed to have died as martyrs, dying for their faith
