it’s a mad concept to me that people are having classes online while my uni just gave up on teaching and put our exams online hahah

I’ve finished all my exams! I only had three so they absolutely flew by & now I have about 4 months until uni starts up again! Really can’t believe that I’ve finished my first year at university but I’m so proud that I managed it. I’ve wondered a few too many times if I’m doing the right course or if I like it enough to want to spend the rest of my life working in this area, but I still made it through a whole year and am doing okay I hope summer comes soon for all those still doing exams - let me know how you’re getting on / how much you hate everything and everyone bc I understand

alright folks this is it. if I don’t get my head in the game I genuinely fear that I’m going to fail my first year of uni. so I’ve downloaded khan academy and saved every relevant maths video, I’ve downloaded all the tutorial assignments we had over first semester so I can redo them and see if I understand what’s going on, and I’ve come up with what I think is a realistic and useful study timetable for the next semester. fingers crossed!

uni is hard, send help

so I’ve been pretty inactive for several months now because I started university and it’s been crazier than I ever imagined it would be! my course is super difficult and requires more learning and studying than I’ve ever had to do before, and so I haven’t been very good at keeping on top of it all during my first semester. when you’re in a new environment and living with new people, all sense of routine can be so easily thrown out the window, and that’s exactly what I’ve found to be the case so far. I have one flatmate in particular who insists on staying up late “for the banter” and so wants me to stay up late too. admittedly, I give in, because even if I try to go to sleep early it won’t happen. on more occasions than I’d like, I’ve had about 5 or 6 of my flatmates gather in my room after 11pm so I can’t go to bed! so I’ve been going to bed late, sometimes even 2 or 3am, and thus waking up late too, struggling to get out of bed in the morning, and even missing a few 9 and 10am lectures... oops. don’t get me wrong, I’ve been studying, but not very well and not very consistently. honestly, I feel like I don’t even know HOW to study anymore, especially for my specific course which is such a leap from A level that it might as well be a completely different subject!

basically, no one told me life was gonna be this way (clap clap clap clap) and I’m not coping very well! I plan to have a better schedule next semester, which should help me keep on track with studying, but I have no idea how to solve the issue of balancing sleep with time with friends.

I’m still alive tho, and should hopefully be able to produce some new content in the new year! I hope everyone is having a lovely holiday season, and merry christmas to those who celebrate it! x

I just spent far too long compiling the most useful quotes from Othello for my exam next week, and I now have a list of 55 key quotes to learn... that’s cut down from the 196 quotes I had typed up originally for my notes. yikes!

this is maybe an odd question for a study blog but uh ... does anyone know how to start working out when the most exercise you do is going for a long walk every so often? I really want to get into some sort of shape, lose a little bit of weight and just feel a bit better about myself lol so if you have a good (and free bc the only ‘equipment’ I have is a yoga mat) exercise routine then hit me up

I GOT OFFERS FROM MY FAVOURITE UNIVERSITY! 

they’ve given me a conditional offer for physics, and another conditional offer for theoretical physics (which is the one I really want to do), so unless something goes badly wrong in my exams in may/june I’ll be off to uni next september! words cannot describe how excited I am about this
