Do u think Aki got bullied as a child at some point?

I always thought children who were affected by the gun devil or left as orphans because of it would be treated differently, both by teachers and peers. it was such a widespread tragedy, I imagine the government would have stepped in and attempted to lessen the damage. they put gun devil kids in special programs, they pay their way through school and offer them a free ride for devil hunters license training.

truthfully, aki's never really been bullied, but ever since the tragedy, he's felt like an outcast. teachers tell him not to talk to others about what happened. students spread rumors and tend not to get along with him, so it's difficult to make friends. the other kids in his group home are just as closed-off as he is.

he got used to it, eventually. the weird stares don't phase him. while everyone else in his school spent time studying together or hanging out, when classes were done, aki went straight to devil hunter's training. it'll be easier for him to do what he needs to with no distractions in the way.

When I came across that "joke" from Tav to Quill and Z'rell's comment (plus Halsin), I had to take a minute to process what happened. Gale might be a bit silly and eccentric but he's the kindest, sweetest and most passionate character in that party. No wonder the poor man has deep insecurities to solve, so many people reduce him to an easy target! Ofc one of the side effects would be overconfidence and ambition as a defense mechanism. He's obv lonely; only Tara and Morena ever loved him for him.

his eccentric nature might be a part of it. he is loquacious, outgoing, and doesn’t see the point in hiding his enthusiasm. he is considered to be the weird one. naturally, wizards in general being seen as somewhat squishy and physically weak might also add to it.

personally, i really don’t like the implications of the (widely considered) autistic-coded character being the one who faces the most ridicule by far by other characters and fans (and larian) alike.

some might disagree with me on that, but i don’t find it funny by any means either. mostly it just makes me feel bad. “he deserves it. cocky, arrogant, hubris-ridden wizard needs to be taken down a peg” like he isn’t… y’know… already at his lowest. it also disregards the fact that much of his bravado is part of his carefully curated Great Wizard of Waterdeep™ persona that he has skillfully adopted to mask his general feeling of being defective. being fiercely proud of your skill and knowledge and being doubtful of having something truly worthwhile to offer are mindsets that can coexist. according to fandom, gale is either secret hubris incarnate that is only waiting to be unleashed upon the world or pure baby that can do no wrong. instead of a character that is just as flawed and traumatized as all the others, but no less deserving of genuine love.

to me, the constant ridicule just reads as further feeding into his deep-rooted insecurities and his belief that he (as gale, the person) isn’t someone who holds inherent worth. it really, really doesn’t sit well with me.

sometimes i remember that gojo wanted to tell geto “we’ll meet again, right?” just before he died but forced himself not to knowing it would have cursed him and then i start thinking about how kind and thoughtful gojo is as a character and how he hasn’t been able to lean on another human being since geto defected and then i want to . watched paper hearts again yesterday and i'm never not floored at "it's not her." / "it's somebody though." no matter how many times i see it...it's such a grounding moment in a very intense and heavy episode, and there will always be at least one line in the midst of the most haunted and erratic mulder arcs that stays so true to the core of who he is.

standing in that autopsy lab, it really might all be over. he might not be able to search anymore. he might not be able to hope anymore. he might not be able to do the only thing he's ever done every day for 24 years anymore, and he doesn't know who he is without it. what would he do? paper hearts is my favorite episode, because it's so physical. it's almost punitive, how earthly it is. in this moment, he might be standing over his baby sister's corpse, and it's bones clawed out of the dirt. there's a palpably crushing weight to it, you can practically feel him shake through the screen.

when scully comes in with the lab results and says it isn't her, he buckles for a moment when he takes in that breath. but it's only one beat before he stands and replies: "it's somebody though."

it could've all been over, in that moment, and when it's not there is no relief. the way that he turns on that line and looks away, is visibly trying to keep from crying. he's grieving. it's not her but it's somebody, another ghost in a paisley nightgown that will follow him forever.

that's the depth of paper hearts: it's a samantha-arc episode but it's not really about sam, not really. it's about addie sparks. it's about karen ann philiponte. it's about sandra altman, and elsa houbox, and patricia fulton, and kathleen morrow, and elaine shawkowski, and kelly canne, and marla greene.

in the final scene, when the conclusion is "it's not samantha," it isn't a victory. there is no reprieve. he stares at the final heart with weary tear-filled eyes, and then shuts it in his desk drawer, another failure that will always be close by.

I will never get over the fact how incredibly isolated Dirk was. Literally the only living thing for MILES was fish & sea gulls. Half of the kids grew up without a guardian, but Jade had Bec, Roxy had the carapacians, Jake had the tinkerbulls (possibly other lusii?) and spoke fondly of his grandma before batterwitch killed her.

But Dirk had nothing. Dirk was so sick of being alone that he cloned himself, and then realised he STILL only had himself for company.

And let's not forget the fact he was attacked by drones regularly. That he was literally fighting for his life. That people talk about & draw Dave's scars. But dirk would be covered in them too. Both for them were forced to fight for their life on that damm roof top.

Dirk is so deeply unstable. To act calm and collected about killing yourself, then kissing your dead friends. That's not someone with a normal sense of self, a normal sense of life. After the game it would take Dirk decades to deal with everything wrong with him.

Bitter isolation and the constant looming threat of death does not make for one healthy man.

What would you have changed about the Bleach final arc?

Make Uryu be the center of the arc, alongside with Ichigo, poor boy was so erased after SS arc, so this was his chance to shine again and made his bond with Ichigo stronger

Give Rukia more screen time and importance, she was the second protagonist for the sake of god!
