Analysis of the Demon Kings cover and forshadowing for the villains

I think we can agree that this cover below is one amazing piece of art from Kato :

This is the first time we see the ennemies demon kings (Satan included in his fresh new body) together, in a cover with such beautiful colors, and with all of them showing their face (well except Astaroth, still a mushrom at this point).

But, with the release of chapter 134, I started to wonder if there is not something more to be taken from this gorgeous cover.

The cover can be divided in three different parts, three different perspectives :

First, let’s look at the parts separately, then together.

1. Iblis, Egyn and Astaroth

The three demon kings, loyal since the beginning to their eldest brother Lucifer and to the idea that the low humans need to pay for the suffering they are all facing, are standing together, side by side. They are the first characters you notice when looking at the cover, thanks to Iblis’ bright flames. They are looking in the same direction, almost the same direction as Satan, with apparent enthousiasm (at least Iblis, because once again Astaroth is mushrom and Egyn is hidden in a shark suit... talk about royalty).

2. Satan

He is standing way behind, and above all the other characters. Even if he is looking in the same direction as the three siblings, looking just as greedily happy, the meaning is pretty clear. Yes, their goals are from now on the same, destroying Assiah, but he is not among or with them. He is above them all, he is the demon god and them, the kings, will just be his servants in the conquest of Assiah.

In Chapter 134, we saw how little Satan care about those demons who nonetheless did everything in their power to bringing him back to life. When he destroyed Astaroth previous incarnation, he showed absolutely zero remorse. And yet, as soon as the King of Roth was back into a physical body, his first thought was to go back immediately to Satan’s side. There is something deeply saddening to see those demon kings, who have been the rulers of Gehenna for millenia, suddenly throwing all of their efforts into gaining the attention and approval of a forty-years-old man-child, who does not give a damn about them apart from their willingness to serve him. Us humans would call that an abusive relationship.

3. Lucifer and his human followers

This part is by far the most surprising. You would expect Lucifer, the demon king who first lead the war on humankind and the first to bow to Satan, to be standing with his siblings, ready to do Satan’s bidding. But not.

He is slightly behind, in paler colors, with his human followers. Homare and the Lundstrom twins are facing a completely different direction, not competely opposed to Satan’s, but still clearly different. Lucifer’s body is facing the same direction, apart from his head, turned on the side so that he can look in the same direction as his siblings. But instead of looking enthousiastic like them (after all, HE finally succeeded, he is the one who made the bet to make Satan a good body, and he just WON), I would rather describe his expression as dark and maybe... bitter.

I think there might be a lot to unpack here. Lucifer appears separated from the other demons kings and Satan, in position and attitude, and is surrounded by humans. Something a bit crazy for this character, who was apparently shown to be the most anti-human demon of all. Even more interestingly, the red of his cloack is exactly the same color as Homare’s coat just next to him, to the point at first look both characters look like one instead of two distinct individuals. They appear as a unit, something a I remember noticing in some other pieces of art. Unlike the other demons, he is not in a position of domination but slightly bending.

Can we see in this cover a kind of forshadowing for the future evolution of Lucifer’s character ? He is not entirely facing the same direction as Satan, and instead of standing with his siblings, he is shown standing with humans and fusionned with a human character. Is it possible, that inspite of everything, Lucifer might start being the one questionning Satan’s goals and destruction, even though he was the one at the origin of the whole project ?

And also : do the humans around him symbolise that he might start to question his negative view on humanity ? And especially Homare : in the present timeline, they are almost always scene together, as in this image.

Conclusion : Iblis, her dearest brother Egyn and Astaroth, seem ready to do whatever Satan ask of them and Satan himself looks certainly ready to break down Assiah beneath his feet. In comparison, Lucifer looks almost hesitant, as to forshadow that his character might actually be faced with doubts.

It does not mean Lucifer could ever let go of his dream of creating a new “gentler” world in his own words. It does not mean he will ever have a redemption arc (I am convinced of the contratry). But in a narrative point of view, it would be extremely satisfying to see this character in particular facing doubts, and possibly sad consequences for his actions in the pursuit of his destructive dream.

The Interview Part 2 (Blue Exorcist Fanfic)

So, I've had a lot of folks wanting a follow up book to my first fanfic. So here it goes. This book travels ahead into the future 18 years. With Yukio, Shiemi and Lewin as the new Grigori and Shura and Rin as Arc Knights. Arthur is still the Paladin. Mephisto is still Mephisto. Lucifer is attempting to destroy with world, but he will be much more menacing. He is in the form of Homare Todo, and she is a tough customer.

Chapter #1

---------------- I opened my eyes and found myself in a familiar place. True Cross town, more specifically, Mephisto's Mansion.

I'd been at home one minute, and the next, I was here. Despite the demon's seductions, I hadn't left willingly, and I hadn't given in. But Mephisto wouldn't take no for an answer. And now I'm in his giant bed, surrounded by full-sized plushies, dressed in flannel pyjamas. At least he hadn't taken advantage of me. But of course, he hadn't; he acted under the guise of a gentleman. 

Amaimon, my demon mate, wouldn't be mad that I was here. He knew I had to appease the Time King. Mephisto was higher in the demon hierarchy, and to deny him was unwise. What made things incredibly complex was that Mephisto is also my mate, but we've been apart for many years. His manipulations had been too much for me to bear, and we separated.

Mephisto was a polyamorous being and didn't confine his desires to monogamous relationships. He was also not the type of demon that preferred one sex over another. He was infinitely fluid and attracted to souls. Unfortunately, he found my soul impossible to resist, so I'm in my current predicament. I never had a chance to escape him.

Was it weird that I was the mate of two demon brothers? Well, yes, and no.

The Demon Kings treated themselves like siblings, but in reality, they were not blood relatives. All demons had materialized from Gehenna and were born from the stuff of Satan. Technically, under the same rules, all humans came from the same source material in Assiah. But humans don't consider all other humans siblings. The Demon kings only associated as family to others with equal power and prestige.

Yet, Mephisto and Amaimon were the closest of the Demon Kings.  At one point, they even lived together as uncle and nephew. It had been infinitely awkward that both had fallen for me. Demons didn't feel complex emotions and were fuelled by pure desire. Yet, as a hanyou, I absolutely did experience emotions. And I had enormous guilt.

My cell phone buzzed on the nightstand.

Amaimon: "When I got back, you were gone. Are you alright?" 

Eve: "I didn't even get a chance to say goodbye, Amaimon!"

Amaimon: "He wasn't mean to you, was he?"

Eve: "He wasn't, but he also didn't listen."

Amaimon: "Well... brother is an asshole."

Eve: "I'm sorry about all of this."

Amaimon: "Listen, don't get all human on me. This will be fun. Promise."

I put down my phone with an exasperated sigh. Staring up at Mephisto's mirrored ceiling, I gaze at my reflection with nervous foreboding.

"Good morning," 

Belial, Mephisto's demon butler, entered the room. "I have brought you a quick breakfast. We must hurry. You are required to be at Vatican City for an interview."

"Listen, I don't even want to be here!" I jumped out of bed. "Mephisto stole me from my home!"

"I'm sorry, about all of that." Belial waved his hand, dressing me in a long, black trench coat. "But you cannot be late."

A portal opens on the floor, and despite my protests, Belial shoves me into it.

I found myself in a cavernous hall with 60-foot buttressed ceilings. In front of me were heavy wooden double doors that were at least 20 feet tall and two burly guards. I stared at my hands, which were bound with delicate bracelets. I realized they were not jewelry but magic-cancelling handcuffs.

"What. The. Fuck." I snarled. "What the hell is this about!"

"Sir, Pheles," a guard whispered in a headset. "She's here, and she seems angry."

"Keep her detained." Mephisto's voice answered. "I will fetch her momentarily."

My demon-enhanced ears picked up the word detain, and I immediately backed away.

"I'm not a prisoner, am I?" I whispered.

"Of course not, lady." The one guard announced. "You are a guest of the Grigori."

"Great!" I answered nervously. "That means I can leave, right?!"

I turn to run and slam into something hard and obstinate—a solid wall of white.

"Why hello, Eve!" 

His boisterous laugh caused me to groan inwardly.

"Don't be afraid! You are a person of great importance! You are the hero of Assiah!"

My face was planted in the middle of Arthur August Angel's broad chest. He spun me quickly and firmly wrapped an arm around my waist. Next, I felt the cold steel of Caliburn pressed tightly against my neck.

"Then why am I being treated as a hostile!"

"You are not hostile, my dear." He whispered into my ear. "You are just skittish. You are a kitty, after all!"

I looked up into his face with a scowl. He's smiling good-naturedly. He is just as handsome as ever, only now his pale blue eyes are lined with crow's feet. Honestly, age made him even more attractive and distinguished than before. His platinum hair was still thick and beautiful and impeccably groomed. But the man still lacked critical-thinking skills and blindly obeyed orders instead of questioning them.

"Angel, please let me go." I pleaded grumpily. "I don't work for True Cross anymore!"

"My dear, that is an understatement. You went AWOL." He affirmed. "It's not the same thing."

"So they waited all of these years to enforce the law?"

"We need you to help fight against Lucifer."

"Dammit!!! What if I don't want to?"

"I understand your hesitation, Eve." His voice softened. "Having Mephisto summon you must be so irritating. I find the demon annoying at the best of times. I fantasize about smiting him."

"He is my mate," I answer dourly. 

"I know!" He laughed. "You've made such a terrible choice!"

"Yeah," I whispered. "But I still hate the way our separation went down."

"Eve, you are just as beautiful as I remember!" He winked. "Demons are polyamorous creatures, after all. You always have options. Remember that."

"Are you...hitting on me?"

Angel smiled and winked.

Just then, the double doors flung open with a bang, startling me.

"HAHA!" Angel laughed robustly. "Speak of the Devil."

Mephisto emerged and stalked toward me. He graced Angel with the most enormous shit-eating grin he could muster, but did I also detect a hint of anger? Did Mephisto hear Angel's words just now? But how could he? The walls were six feet thick!"

"Why are you holding a sword to Eve's neck?" He questioned with crossed arms. "She is our guest. Not a spy headed to the torture chamber."

"She was attempting to escape the Vatican; I was given strict orders."

"Yes, well," Mephisto grabbed my forearm firmly with his purple-gloved hand. "If some goon held a sword to my neck, the normal reaction would be to run."

"Goon? How insulting! I was keeping her safe from more dangerous people." Angel narrowed his eyes accusingly.

"Then perhaps I should be owing you thanks for keeping my wife safe." His voice dripped with fake pleasantries. "Come along, Eve. The Grigori awaits!"

Mephisto half-guided me, half-dragged me through the double doors. Angel and the guards followed closely behind. I had no chance of escaping, but that didn't stop me from struggling.

"LET ME GO!!!" I hissed with ire. "I can walk on my own."

"Then walk," Mephisto whispered tensely through a fake smile. "You are embarrassing me."

He released my arm abruptly, and I found myself under the glare of an impossibly bright light. As my eyes adjusted, that is when I saw them—the Grigori. 

"Hello, Eve." A soft Texan accent voice addressed me. "Long time no see."

"Oh. Shit." I back away at the site of the man, only to feel two strong hands gripping my shoulders. One of them is Mephisto, and the other is Angel. I stare at them with mutiny.

"Sir, Pheles." Lightning chuckled wryly. "It appears your mate is unwillingly here. You must be losing your loving touch."

"I assure you there is nothing wrong with me." Mephisto laughed. "Maybe she's remembering the time you wanted to torture her."

"You mean that time you lied to me?" Lightning countered. "And left this poor innocent Neko vulnerable?"

"Since you can read any creature's aura, I assume you made the executive decision to kidnap Eve for ulterior motives..."

Mephisto and Lightning locked eyes with building menace.

"Enough, we're getting off topic."

A man dressed in Armumahel's dark robes interrupted. He was at least ten years younger than Lightning, in his mid-30s, and well-built. A streak of pure white ran through his wavy, chocolate-brown hair, which fell rakishly over one eye. The most identifiable thing was the eyepatch.

"Is that you, Mr. Okumura?"

"Just call me Yukio; there's no need for formalities," he assured. "You are amongst equals and friends here."

"Yes. The best of friends." The Shemihaza representative nodded. With a flourish of delicate hands, she pushed back her bejewelled hood, revealing Shiemi Moriyama.

"Shiemi." I sighed with relief. "Thank goodness. But where is Rin and Shura?"

"This was a meeting for the Grigori only. The Arc Knights were not required..." Lightning began.

"What the fuck is going on in here!!!" The double doors suddenly crashed open as if on cue. "Why wasn't I invited to this party? Who cares! I'm crashing it!"

A fiery redhead marched up the aisle and approached Angel and Mephisto. Behind her, another 30-something man with bright blue eyes and flaming indigo horns followed.

"And those would be the Arc Knights." Mephisto drawled with a secret smile. "How timely."

"Angel," Shura barked, pushing him back with a firm hand. "Give Eve some space. You big lout!"

Before I could utter a single word, Shura wrapped her arms around me like a protective mother bear, giving me a hug that nearly shattered my ribs.

"Are you okay?" She eventually released me, her hands now holding my face, studying it carefully.

"I've been worse." I smiled wanly. "It was a bit of an ordeal getting me here."

"Yeah." She smirked. "I bet it was."

"Mephisto was the absolute wrong person to send. I wouldn't have come ether. I would have assumed it was a trick." Rin folded his arms. "I should have gone instead, not this bastard."

"That's enough from you," Mephisto threatened. "She's here now, and we have much to discuss."

"Yeah, we do." Shura pulled an enormous wooden chair to the table with an ear-shattering squeak. "Have a seat, Eve. We'll tell you what we know."

How would the demon kings + Rin react to the descendant of a very powerful demon ending up being their crush?

Like... This demon used to work with Lucifer and Samael before he decided to stay in Assiah and start a life.

That was centuries ago by now, though, and now a half demon appears at True Cross with the powers of that demon.

This was harder than I thought, knowing little to nothing about half of them it got tricky but I hope you like it. Beelzebub's was so rushed, sorry if doesn't liveup to your expectations and if it took me this long to post it.

Lucifer's HC

He can feel it, is not that hard to miss it

Stoic but inside???

His feelings are all over the place

He asks Renzo to take you too but the boy fails (as if you would let him)

Hopes to see you again

When you get inside the Illuminati HQ he knows you are there

He can somehow tell is you

Orders to Homare Todo to bring you to him

He might be weaker than his usual but when you are in his presence you are overwhelmed by his power

He would just look at you because he wants to make sure about his suspicions

Then asks you about your powers and your family

You don't want to, like why would he wants to know?

But you give up immediately both because of Homare and Lucifer's presence

He used to like your demonic ancestor, they were one of the strongest one in his battalion

And he sees a lot of them in you

I think he would develop platonic feelings first towards you because of your ancestor and with time, keeping an eye would have a crush on you

If you don't accept his proposal to join his ranks he would fell bitter about it, a demon first and now you? This can't happen to him

But if that makes you happy, then, so lets be it

Sends his demons to keep an eye on you

No one is allowed to touch you

Like not even on purpose

If they do, Lucifer will deal with them immediately

When you are back with the Exwires, Exorcist and the Vatican to stop him, he would try to make you change your mind once again

If he succeds, happy Lucifer

If he doesn't change your mind, would get mad but would find it difficult to hurt you

As he can feel Satan’s powers he can sense yours

While he tells you about your lineage he confesses

You are like “did a demon, one I’m trying to kill just confessed?” With a very disgusted face on

And he is like “Uhm, yes?! But you are also part demon so don’t look so disgusted?! thanks”

Will 1000% take it personally if you don’t reciprocate his feelings

And would act accordingly, a.k.a prepare to see him fight at his max

Egyn's HC

Egyn is the chillest out of everyone else

This because he doesn’t register his feelings for you

The second he does…

Freaks out

Like a lot lot

When he is calm would ask to keep an eye on you

Watches over you with pride

He is so happy about all your achievements even tho they are made to be used against him and his siblings

His crush isn’t much of a secret

When he sees you on the battlefield…

He tries to not fight you

If you are tasked to fight Egyn, you are very confused because why is he avoiding you?

He will tell you the reason why, he doesn’t need to be told twice

But your confusion just keeps growing the more he talks

How can he have a crush on you?

You don't mind him too much, and he is just "okay, whatever" on the outside but on the inside???

Demon is like "PLEASE NOTICE ME PLEEEASE"

And when you do, for the wrong reason, he doesn't know how to react to be honest

I mean he is happy but he also is not because you are charging at him to attack

Avoids the attack by counterattacking you with like 1% of his strengh because there is no way he is going to hurt you

The other demon King have to step in before he gets killed

Iblis is the one to lecture him about his feelings getting in the way but also she is nice to him about it because they are the closest so she is doing it for his safety mostly.

Now you are fighting Iblis but she is still not using all her strengh and you can tell Igny asked her to go easy on you

Oh Lord, is just there to flirt with you

Mephisto will tell him to not but he doesn't listen

He will try to make you jealous by controlling Shiemi, spoiler, he fails

He won't show it but he is sad that his plan didn't work

No, because he would use all the cringy pick up lines he heard from humans

He has a list where he writes down new ones every time he hears one that he likes or he sees work

and again while you look at him trying to not laugh at him, I mean this demon came to attack you for started

Bon is ready to fight him and so is Rin like, they can't handle this dude even if they tried their best

─ ¿Qué clase de persona es Rio Kitagawa?

Homare Okamura: "Muy madura y elegante, es una hermana mayor de confianza en la 15º ki. Desde el punto de vista de sus compañeras, puede ser un poco extravagante y traviesa, ¡y eso es lo que la hace tan linda! Se come las comidas con mucho placer (risas)".

Mei Yamazaki: "Tiene un aire pulcro e inocente, de señorita. Sabe estudiar bien, es sólida y es como una hermana mayor de confianza, pero también es divertida y tiene una personalidad tsundere que hace que quieras burlarte de ella. Tiene una voz muy bonita para cantar y se le da muy bien bailar con el pelo. Sabe mucho de cosmética y me enseña mucho".

─ ¿Qué tipo de persona es Homare Okamura?

Rio Kitagawa: "Tiene cara de bebé y es muy linda, pero también tiene un estilo y una sangre fría abrumadora en la interpretación. Tiene una personalidad amable que antepone a las personas que la rodean a sí misma. También tiene un lado un poco gyaru, ¡y creo que es una JK activa! (Risas)".

Mei Yamazaki: "Tiene una cara pequeña, brazos y piernas largos, y un estilo excepcional. Parece y suena muy linda, ¡así que me da la sensación de que es una idol!　Está en el mismo curso que yo, pero es muy fuerte, así que si ella y yo fuéramos gemelas, Homare sería sin duda mi hermana mayor". Volví a sentir lo unidas que nos habíamos hecho en los últimos cuatro años, y aunque nos conocimos en el trabajo, podíamos hablar como si fuéramos amigos particulares, y me alegré mucho de que fuéramos las dos del mismo grupo."

Homare Okamura: "Las clases de baile para las tres poco después de unirnos. Yo lo hacía para aprender la coreografía antes de unirme a mis mayores, pero estábamos juntas todo el tiempo, todos los días, y fue la época más intensa, con mucha diversión y momentos difíciles. Al principio, estábamos tan llenas de nosotras mismas que no teníamos ganas de conocernos, pero una vez que las tres tuvimos una discusión, pudimos conocernos y hablar de todo. —Se ha hablado del tema de la 15 generación como "¡crecen tan rápido!"　¿Qué tienes en cuenta cuando actúas?

Rio Kitagawa: "¡Bailar a lo grande para no flotar!　Tengo que acordarme de destacar. Mi profesor de danza me dijo que bailara como si mis brazos y piernas fueran el doble de grandes que los míos, y al principio no acababa de captar la sensación, pero últimamente he llegado a entenderlo de verdad. Pero mientras esté en un grupo, no creo que deba ser la única que destaque, así que estoy estudiando para sacar mi propia personalidad en mi baile sin perder de vista a la gente que me rodea".

Homare Okamura: "Agradezco las amables palabras, pero no me las tomo a pecho y siempre quiero ser humilde. Siempre pienso "¡Tengo que hacer más de lo que estoy haciendo ahora!" cuando actúo. Creo que brillo más cuando me divierto, y creo que también puedo hacer que el público se sienta feliz, así que también doy importancia a divertirme."

Mei Yamazaki: "Creo que es importante actuar no sólo con una cara sonriente, sino también con una expresión fresca, un estilo de canto y otras expresiones que encajen con la canción. Me han pedido que cante las partes de los miembros más veteranos que ya se han graduado, así que me gustaría añadir mi toque personal haciendo referencia a su forma de expresarse. Rio Kitagawa: "Quiero ser la primera persona que conozca a Morning Musume。 Espero que a través de mi trabajo de fotograbado, a la gente le llegue a gustar Morning Musume。 ¡Quiero aumentar aún más el número de fans de Morning Musume con mi propio poder! ¡Tengo que hacerlo!

Homare Okamura: "Este año me convertiré en adulta a la edad de 18 años, y creo que habrá nuevos miembros en el futuro, así que quiero ser capaz de ver no sólo a mí misma, sino también a la gente que me rodea.
