Instead of Sully being an alter, I'd like to imagine ( if I were to put more gothic spiritual horror into it ) that they are a sort of malignant spirit. Liu being half dead and his soul starting to drift, Sully takes hold of the opportunity of a lifetime and basically staples himself and Liu together like an amalgamation of soul and flesh. Liu survives, yes, but he has something horrible and foreign in his body. It doesn't manifest as a second personality, but instead a scratching itching voice in his head, poking at his brain like a hot poker and highlighting dormant anger and frustration. It manipulates and stretches Liu's sanity to the brink of self-destruction, a boy just trying to go back to normal - anything to get back to normal - and this thing gets scratching, and itching, and biting, and screaming at him, all alone for him to hear.

It may be stereotypical, a demonic force making its way into a person and influencing them to do things they normally won't, but I think it fits Liu. The rosary, the sacrificial lamb surviving its sacrifice, the rebirth elements, etc.

It just makes sense to me more than Sully being an alter - and less dismissive of DID as a whole. Cause DID doesn't just happen overnight or over one heavily traumatic incident, at least from the research I have done. If people with DID would like to correct me, they can of course - I do not have DID and don't have experience with it other than from an outsider's perspective.

Liu x Ej thoughts

Both characters having deep tragedies - one being betrayed by those he knew to a cult and another being betrayed by one of his blood. Both finding comfort in each other through their shared bond of grief. Maybe they don't tell each other what happened, maybe they do. But they still know something happened, and damned if they aren't both willing to make the other feel loved.

I'd imagine Liu would be more of a physical lover, giving chaste kisses, holding the others hand, holding them while they talk about something meaningless. EJ would love by action or gifts - nothing expensive or whatever, but giving the other their time, attention, and thoughts. Showing love through giving them attention.

Liu giving EJ a small kiss on the others head as they sleep, EJ taking Liu to a place he thinks would be cool to go to.

Dunno, they are inherently tragic characters that I want to see love each other, even if one can see the others scars while the other cannot see the deeper one's on their lovers face.

Since the body immediately consumes itself when it dies, i'd imagine Liu would have some effects from when his body went through that process. Milky eyes causing him to have vision issues ( maybe similar to cataracts ). The Tache Noire btw is a thing where if a dead persons eye is open for a long enough, the part exposed gets dry and bleeds, causing a blotchy red line to appear on the persons eye. I think that would be a neat little detail.
