Some changeling & troll!Jim headcannons
Morgana had been considering making changelings for years, it wasn't a sudden idea; it was something she'd been planning for a long time
She even discussed it with Merlin at one point (under the guise of wanting to better 'unite' humans and trolls), and he proposed the idea of humans turning into trolls instead of vice-versa.
This is where the concept for the half-troll potion came from. What Jim became was essentially a modified version of a failed recipe for changelings that Merlin kept around in case it ever became useful.
Jim wasn't the first half-troll, he was just the first successful one. There was a chance it could've gone horribly wrong (as it has in past attempts) but Merlin took the risk anyway since he saw it working in his vision.
The reason Morgana's version always ended with better results was due to dark magic and Merlin's outright refusal to go there.
Because they were on a time crunch, Merlin substituted some of the rarer ingredients common in transfiguration potions with material from a preexisting changeling.
All they know about the bone used in the potion was that it came from a changeling. They never learned who, or what kind of troll they were, And subsequently have no clue as to what species of troll Jim was partially turned into. And Merlin didn't ever feel like helping them figure it out even though he probably could've with relative ease.
If they had more time for him to work on the potion, and if Merlin actually measured his ingredients instead of throwing them all in a blender, Jim probably would've come out less wonky (an even amount of fingers, among other things).

Tumblr media
My stomach sinks at the news -It cannot be...- I say to myself, feeling somehow guilty. I had to be the one at the threshold, not the prince. Before I can offer my services, the skull crusher sends Argamon to Dwuoza to recruit the pacifist tribe hidden from human sight. Even though he's supposely a brother in arms to me and Bular, I don't trust him. He's like a youngling, vulnerable, gullible, let's just hope he's not that innocent. When the Krubera soldier exits the room, only me and Gunmar remain.
Normally, in a situation like this when the prince's arrogance might get him in trouble, I wouldn't care by letting him figure it out on his own, but given our roles were exchanged, and he might have been caught off guard by those humans, I offer a solution for the sake of the Black One's Lineage.
-My lord, wouldn't it be better to send a rescue party for the prince? We know what Arthur is capable of- I say, confident of what I've heard over the years. Exposes prisoners to daylight and shatters them, murdering anyone who's not of his kin. -I can build a small group to enter Camelot at twilight...- my lord interrrupts me, growling.
-He only wants a trophy, a victory for his broken kingdom. But he won't stand a chance!- his fury unleashed as he stands, his colossal sword at hand. -At Nightfall, we march to Camelot!- In a thunderous roar, its vibrations traveling through my legs, its invigorating! I nod, before he leaves the throne room. Now I stand alone, taking off my mask and admiring it, letting out a sigh. -War, huh?- my mind, overun by many thoughts...
What if we win?
What if Dwuoza refuses?
Would we be...all that is left?...
-Agh! Enough!- I growl, I always think too much. It would be better if I hurry, this will be a long night.
After a nap, some training and sharpening my blades. I wait for the Skull Crusher at the entrance of his kingdom, wearing the mask while I scout around.
The moment I get near the threshold, I can see the centinel, frozen in place, bound by chains. Something inside me aches, the guilt over the fallen puts a weight on my chest. To think it would've been me... It also reminds me who are we really fighting against. Arthur calls us demons, monsters, abominations, but when push comes to shove, he invades our territory, hunts us down, and kills us, while rejoicing on our demise. To me, that's a monster. One with no empathy or mercy...
Once I am beside the fallen soldier, my heart sinks. He was exposed while fighting for his life. Was caught off guard, chained and executed. No trial, why am I not surprised? The king only spreads decay wherever he goes.
-Rest now, soldier- I say, taking off my helmet to see the chains around his arms. They were still made of iron, instead of petrifying with this troll. What cruelty... -You fought bravely for The Black One's crown. And for your heroic deeds, me, Commander Neala, Gunmar's Hellhound, relief you from your suffering.- I say, as I release him from the metal chains which fall limply at his sides. The clatter of the binds hitting the ground makes me sigh, making me feel relieved somehow. A moment after, two other centinels come to drag him back to camp.
As I see the soldier leaving, I take a deep breath, knowing he'll be shattered shortly, putting an end to such a death. -May our ancestors welcome you with open arms to the Hall of Heroes- as I bow slightly, before his stone body leaves my sight.
It takes me a minute or two to shake these feelings of guilt and sadness that take over everytime I see a troll dying in such a horrid way. He was killed for the fun of it, that thought alone makes me wish I could kill Arthur with my own claws. But, with the crime scene I have on hand, I might be a step closer to doing so.
As I take the chains that bound the soldier and sniff them, I can create a scene in my mind, one which confirms what I thought from looking at their victim. The King and his men bound the centinel when he was off guard, immovilizing him and then exposing him to the sun. The fear of my ally and the lustful joy of my foe, contrasting, strong scents. But, someone is missing in this scene: Bular. So, I sniff around some more, bumping into the rock which lies a couple of feet in front of the gate. There, the scent of the Prince's Bravado takes force. And now, the image of his capture is clear.
His arrogance made him ambush the king, got the upper hand, I can tell due to the adrenaline in the air. Then, the traitors defended their liege.
The smell of Arthur's magician fills the place. Iron and the scent his spells produce, smoke. More scents come to my nose: Other wizards, a witch, the horses and Excalibur; the cursed sword the human King carries to protect from us. Bans magic, but wields that forsaken weapon...
Reeks of the fallen.
Two wizards, and two witches were there. Old steel, Merlin; lightning, his apprentice; melted gold, Morgana and a fourth, can tell is a witch, but her scent is...peculiar. Sugar, cinnamon and...citrus peelings, also...corn, but as if toasted on a grill. Spiced Corn Bread, weird but it certainly made her stand out. She doesn't belong here...
Despite the little witch's scent, I could feel the strong tang of anger in the air, close to where Morgana stood. Anger...drove by...what?
-What did you find, champion?- Gunmar stands behind me while I sniff around. As I notice him, I quickly put on the mask to answer to his question.
-Magic was used to kidnap the prince, four or five fleshbags dragged him back to Camelot. The others disbanded and continued the hunt- I answer while pointing with my claws the paths each group took. I could tell the king's men were after some others: The eldest scents, which were almost lost to the fight, were from trolls who had been among humans for way too long. -Three or more trolls ran to Dwuoza- completing my search, keeping some curious things to myself. Though two of the three trolls I sensed were somehow familiar, one stood out. Old Steel, Charcoal and blood. It confused me how those three aromas could coexist. Old Steel, Merlin; but...Charcoal, that was my king's scent; and blood, it was a stinging smell, penetrating, not that I wasn't familiar with it, but...from a Troll? Those facts had to lay dormant in my mind as I stand aside my lord, who looks at me, satisfied with the bloodhound he raised.
-I trained you well, champion. Now the hunter, becomes the prey- growling at the time he crouches on his four points, roars and runs. I follow his lead, doing the same.
The night falls upon us as we arrive to the castle...on fire. His keep, destroyed by unknown magic. I smell it, melted gold and tree's blood.
-Who destroyed Artur's keep without my orders?- my King growls at the centinels who always keep watch on it. They don't answer, but a witch does. One dressed on golden armor and green robes, pledging an alliance sealed by Bular's return and words I will never forget.
"Eternal Night"
As tempting as that sounds, my years on this Earth had taught me not to trust a human. They kill anything and anyone who's not of their kin. All nature knows their savagery and though I know she speaks the truth, my instinct tells me that this might be a trick. I step closer to my liege and prince standing between them and the witch with my blades at hand.
-Pretty words for a human- I snarl, defying her -You were there when the prince was captured, with your wizards and your king.- slowly stepping closer as she levitated down to my level, making our gazes meet. -How do we know this isn't part of Arthur's plan?- growling, not letting my blades touch the ground. My green lit eyes meeting hers. Mine, filled with rage. Her's, calm.
-Yes, I was there.- she replied, politely -Watching Arthur kill one of your own, rejoicing on his defeat by exposing him to the sun. I saw as my mentor betrayed our kind by capturing your prince. I tried countless times to stop the massacre with kindness. But the time of peace is long gone- swaying her left hand, so my gaze could catch it. At a glance, nothing was odd, until I felt the scent of jade and, something more ancient. Something I had never smelled before. A mix of volcanic stone, a freezing blizzard and the blossoms of the early spring. Life and death. How? As I picked the scent, she kept explaining. -My brother cut my own hand, all because I spoke our truth. How his hipocracy knows no bounds.-
Baffled, but not bemused, I turned once more to face her. Before I could ask, she kept on going with her speech.
- A force greater than us ushered me back, gave me the power and the goal. No more bowing our heads to the men's rule! I shall bring you the means to bring Arthur to his knees- she sounded like a preacher, one I heard eons ago while captured by humans. Same system, different motif. I don't trust her.
-Nice speech, Pendragon- I growled, about to attack her. My tail was wipping around, angrily leaving marks on the ground. -But you've got no stakes to lose. So if I must die defending my king from your pretty little lies, then so be it- Growling lower, as my tail finally slapped the ground, making me snap into action. I was ready to fight the witch, rip her to shreds...but...
-Champion!- I stop cold on my tracks, digging my hooves on the dirt below. My king's scold catching me off guard. After a second, I recover my senses, making me turn around to face him.
-My lord...- confused. Never had he stopped me from following my judgement. Once I smelled a liar, he left me to ram against them and bring them to his feet. This would've been one of those situations...except...
-The witch speaks the truth- Gunmar says, calm, but stern. -We are on the same side. So don't look for enemies where there are none.-
My anger flares up, in disbelief. -None?! She's a human!-
-The witch is one of us!- Bular interscepted, walking closer to meet me, defying me like I defied Morgana. -She created a distraction to free me and destroy Camelot by making a Troll walk in broad daylight!-
As he spoke, I froze. The memory of the odd mix of scents came back. -No troll can walk in broad daylight- I replied, anxious.
-They can- she spoke from behind me. -If they are half human...- my anxiety, turning once again into anger. That explained it!
A growl escapes my throat, targetting her from over my shoulder. -A changeling?!- my eyes gleeming with rage as that proposterous idea crossed my mind. Half human-half troll, an absolute abomination.
-They could be effective spies and second agents for our cause.- Gunmar agreed, though under his breath.
My ears couldn't fathom what I was hearing. Baffled, confused, and furious, I tighten the grasp I've got on my blades. -You...have poisoned my lord's mind with YOUR LIES!!!- I roar as loud as my rage allows me, making the trees around me tremble. My disbelief filled my reason with a sudden rush of absolute fury. This witch shouldn't be trusted! And yet! Here she still stands, creating deformed mirrors to serve "our cause". Every spike and hair in my body shaking from the anger, the defiance and the audacity of this Mother of Monsters, who made my king question my judgement. It is the last straw! Without a second thought, I launch towards the witch, attacking her. But, within a second, someone stands between us: Bular. The few ounces of respect I had for him, were slowly becoming dust. He blocked my attack, before pushing me back, making my hooves leave trails on the ground. Once I recover my footing, my eyes shot him daggers.
-Commander, there are no enemies to fight!- he growls at me, as my brows rise, once again, in disbelief. -This Witch has saved my life and attacked our enemy's keep! Don't you see?! The tides of war are changing to our favour!-
-Or dragging us to our destruction!- I roar once more, as I throw my blades, making them cut the ground and stand on their own. -Your weakness and arrogance has caused all of this. We wouldn't be facing Arthur's kin and considering such a blasphemous arrangement if it wasn't for your need to show off!- I attack him, finally speaking my mind after millennia. The comment makes him freeze, letting me know I'm right. -Don't you know I know the scent of your bravado?! It's bitter, penetrating, like meat left to rot. It is sickening...and it was all over the GATE!- My steps draw me closer to the prince, as my knuckles crack, my claws ring and my growls threaten.
Bular, trying to intimidate me, lowers his blades and puffs out his chest, pathetic! I can smell his shame, his anger slowly boiling to the surface. -You're overstepping your line, Commander-
I chuckle, showing my mouthful of sharp ivory teeth. I stand my ground, stretching to meet him almost face to face, letting him know I'm not afraid of a pampered brat -Scared you'll lose? Little Prince?-
-ENOUGH!- A loud roar shakes me, it is my king. Once more scolding me. -The witch has proven her worth, and as enemy of our enemy, she's now an asset to win over the King! So you better lower your voice, Commander. Or my blade will...- his growl making my torso shiver, even from afar. I could defy Bular and Morgana all I wanted, but if Gunmar the Black gave a command, my body was inclined to follow it. Wanting or not, he was still my king, and his orders are gospel.
So, I hushed, begrudgingly turning around. Like that, I kneel down, asking forgiveness for my acts, though I have no regret of my actions. -Yes, my king...- I say, bowing my head towards him. The anger still boils within me, but I try to persuade my body into calming down that anger. Not very effectively, but effectively enough to apologize -It won't happen again- trying not to bark those last words.
-It better not...- a disgusted whisper lefts his mouth before walking away, followed by Bular, the centinels, and Morgana. After it, I was left alone for a minute or two...
The apology I gave, was a not genuine one. And Gunmar knew it...
I just wonder how much time I have before he hunts me down...

What would your ideal TLM continuation be like?
Tumblr media
That's a great question! I have so many ideas, plot-wise, but overall these are the things I wish we got more of after the first film/general content that would've been incredible and that I want and think about every day:
Vanessa. Her emergence into this universe, seemingly ushered in by the nighttime tide, with the wind caressing her hair and Ariel's voice shining on her chest is one of the most potent moments of iconography in film. I want more of her, more of Jodi's powerful singing as her, more of Andreas Deja's animation of her having a private show for herself in her bridal chamber while she's preparing for the wedding, more of how deceptively sweet she is, more of her range, more of her expressions, more moments where the Ursula in her is threatening to reveal itself before being enclosed beneath layers of angelic acting. I think any of her spin-off films or episodes or whatever the case would be would have to be adult audiences so that we can get more evergreen content, as opposed to so many people who primarily discuss children when talking about The Little Mermaid.
Ariel's sisters! People say we got them in the third movie but, first off, they didn't even get the birth orders right, they messed with their personalities, and the target audience for that was Pre K-12. We need actual substance and there's so much to work with here! How does Aquata feel about humans, after everything their father has told her and what family secrets does she know that the younger ones aren't privy to? Could she potentially become more of an advisor to Triton than Sebastian? Andrina's athleticism would be wonderful for more scenic shots of life in Atlantica, Arista's personality is so engaging and it'd be interesting to see Disney pull off a character that's so simultaneously bitchy but likable, Attina's love of books and how that connects her to the world around her, Adella's vanity and all of her beauty secrets, and Alana's gardens and mer-pals would be so informative to general marine life!
More feature film animation work! As I mentioned in my previous tags, The Little Mermaid was extremely, extremely, extremely low budget and, while they were still able to pull it off and it holds its own alongside other movies like Beauty and the Beast that were made on a much grander scale, I wish we could see more of Ariel and the world of Atlantica on a higher production value. Ariel is probably one of the princesses that is the most off-model, there's at least four versions of her in the film, and I'd love to see more of her and better consistency. The animation is so poor in the following film and she just doesn't feel like herself in the third film. The series is hit-or-miss but general offers more of a wooden performance, because of the budgetary restrictions.
More Ursula! Ursula's a theatrical character, so I can only imagine all the more life she has to give. I want prequels about her life and time in the palace, about her relationship with King Triton and their affair, about her origins with her family, about her banishment, just- everything. The TEA would be piping!
I want them to offer more original characters, namely Crystalla, that actually fit within the universe as opposed to the ones the series and sequel gave us (looking at you, Lobster Mobster, Marina, and Morgana).
So, Ariel and Eric are one of the best canonical ships in all of Disneydom and I love them...but I want more! I want to see them leading up to the wedding, I want to flesh out their shared interests and what they talk about and what their relationship is like once they do get to know each other and begin to establish communicational patterns. I want to see Ariel with Grimsby and how she flourishes under a loving male authoritative figure (and I really want as much Grimsby as I can get btw). I want to see Eric tell her it's okay and comfort her when he sees her visually get triggered in fights or moments of tension, or when her past trauma acts up. I want to see how his kingdom accepts her, who was formerly a mermaid. Now that she's made it to be part of that world, I want to see what her part in that world is.
More family backstory with Ariel, as I mentioned above, but also I want canonical material about the mother! Athena isn't it.
How Ariel navigates her mermaid roots. The name of this franchise is "The Little Mermaid" and she'll never be able to escape it, it's a part of her. Because she was born this way, does she feel sometimes out of place in the human world since she's not a part of either and is in this weird middle ground? Is it jarring to drown, or look at the water and know she couldn't swim beneath its surface the way she once did? Does she not miss it at all? Likewise, I think it'd be a cute plot idea if she continues to embrace her mermaid roots, if only to continue her expeditions with Flounder at sunken ships. While Eric is sailing overhead, she continues learning and studying his world and brings him back historical things that were rotting at the bottom of the sea that could be used in museum exhibits for his country, helping preserve the history. Maybe she could even find some artifacts from members in his family that were lost at sea.

Even though the evil!Gwen storyline was completely pointless, at least she was 100x better at playing the inside villain than Smirkgana and Agravaine. So naturally the writers resolved that storyline just as quickly as they started it. And there is zero focus in the following episodes on Gwen's feelings about being under Morgana's control & all the things she had done for Morgana's cause - it's like that storyline never happened, much like the enchanted bracelet fiasco.
I know, right?! Honestly, the evil Gwen episodes were some of the season's best. With All My Heart might be the best season 5 episode, and while I didn't particularly care for A Lesson in Vengeance, The Hollow Queen was pretty good. Daegal, my poor baby, was amazing, and Colin did an amazing job when he was poisoned and trying to get back to Arthur in time to save him; unlike Agravaine and Morgana, Evil Gwen was an efficient and charismatic villain, and Angel played her really well. Also interesting about that episode was Morgana and Gwen's connection: how she felt and saw what Morgana had been through while imprisoned with Aithusa; she even cried for Morgana. I think the evil Gwen storyline showed Morgana in a more sympathetic light, especially after The Dark Tower which was also a good episode (at least by season 5 standards, though Elyan's death was beyond unnecessary - he was always the first to suffer, like in Lamia or in A Herald of the New Age...).
I disagree that we needed more episodes of evil Gwen though. What the last season had needed was the real Gwen who would take the throne upon Arthur's death; the writers should've shown us Camelot was in good hands - Arthur's Bane wasn't enough. Season 5 was also their first and last chance to show Arthur and Gwen's married life and how they ruled together. We didn't see much of it, and most of it was with evil Gwen, which was truly a slap in the face to us fans. We still saw how Arthur and Gwen were usually like, at least from Arthur's side, but evil Gwen was different from normal Gwen. I doubt Gwen would've let Arthur seduce her while Merlin watched and prepared the bed for them to fuck on. Gwen would've told Arthur to cut it out and be mindful of Merlin, and would've thanked Merlin for his work - not given him orders to prepare a bath for her. But, naturally, Arthur thought nothing of it. Evil Gwen was still treating Merlin better than he did; as long as evil Gwen wasn't too cruel, she could get away with doing what he did every day, which was ignore the fact that Merlin was a human being and not a robot who existed to serve him.
But yes, as is typical of the writers, there was no further talk of what had transpired between evil Gwen and Arthur, and what Gwen had been through in The Dark Tower. Imagine finding out that you had unknowingly slept with another woman? Arthur would've felt violated too - not just Gwen. I know Gwen probably wouldn't have blamed Arthur too much for not noticing she hadn't been herself, but Arthur should've felt bad about it. Neither of them talked about any of it though. We just saw they were okay and Arthur was trying to be extra thoughtful by arranging breakfast in bed and picnics- with Merlin third wheeling and getting more lines that Gwen, of course... It makes me angry to think about it. I despise season 5.
The writers never cared about the trauma they put Gwen through. When Uther nearly killed her twice, in season 1 and in season 3, no one cared to ask how Gwen felt after - especially in Queen of Hearts, a supposedly an Arwen episode. After she was banished, Merlin was probably the only person who asked after Gwen. She went through so much - she was alone and homeless for months, was kidnapped by Helios and nearly became his sex slave, and then was nearly killed by Arthur because Morgana turned her into a deer - but it was all water under the bridge for the writers. Also, she didn't get to grieve Elyan or be angry at Arthur for what he did to her. Ugh. Fuck the writers.
Thanks for the ask!

If only the flowers had been canon… like the song says, we could have had it all! 🥲 Did you know there was this crack story where the dragon was a Merthur shipper? 😂🤣 I kid you not it was funny as hell.
yeah most of m/er/thur fandom do believe that and hold kilgharrah in high regard for making m/er/thu/r happen.
it's a prevailing headcanon over there. I used to be a shipper. It's in a lot of fics and not even as crack. Kilgharrah is a m//er/thur enabler and morgana hater in every form.
.....................
i wish the flowers scene was canon too. It would've showed both of their humanity better. Especially Morgana's. If that was included somewhere in 3x01 and 3x02 we would have seen how much she struggled to pretend in front of Merlin. Also it would have shown that Merlin did make an effort to reconnect with her. Unlike..wtv happened in the show where they just immediately glare at each other upon her return lol
but as always..anything that made merlin look bad was cut so...(shrugs)

Mini Fanfic #878: D'n'D Crew Assemble! (Persona 5 X SSBU)
7:23 p.m. at Leblanc Café......
Futuba: (Comes Down the Stares While Wearing her Wizard Costume) Greetings, Wise Coffee Dad! For it is I, Futuba, the Great and Powerful Wizard of all of Dungeons and Dragons, has finally arrived to make a special grand appearance FOR HALLOWEEN!!! (Secretly Turns on the Lightning Sound Effect on her Phone While Raising her Hands and Magic Staff Up)
Sojiro: (Chuckles Lightly) Remarkable entrance there, little miss wizard. I take it you're ready for your first Halloween Party?
Futuba: (Smiles Brightly) Yep! Got my best staff here and everything. (Goes Back to Speaking in her Epic Wizard Voice) But I will not be alone on this eventful quest! (Introduces Sojiro to Two of Her Companions Who Are Coming Down from the Stairs) Joining me will be none other than my two apprentices: The Knowledgeable Velvet Maiden & Sir Cute and Fluffy Butt, in human form!
Morgana: (Already Has a Deadpinned Look on his Face While Wearing a Cloak Along with Lavenza) Is it too late to change names?
Lavenza: Yes... I do believe the name itself has become inaccurate now that he is a human for the time being.
Futuba: Crap. You're right. (Starts Stretching her Fake Beard Up and Down While Thinking) Hmmmmmm.......Ooh! I know! When you're in kitty form, your name will remain the same, but whenever you're a human, your substitute name will.... Mischievous Munchkin!
Lavenza: Oh my. (Happily Nodded) That does sound like a interesting name. (Turns to Morgana) What do you think, Mona-Chan?
Morgana: (Sighs While Shrugging) It's better than being called "Cute & Fluffy Butt" all night....(Turns to Lavenza) I still think your D'n'D name is a lot better in comparison. It suits you pretty well.
Lavenza: (Smiles a Bit Bashfully) You're too kind~ Ooh. That reminds me...(Turns Back to Morgana) have you ever gotten the chance to brush your hair as of late, Mona-Chan?
Morgana: I can't say that I have actually. I was too busy enjoying the human life to even notice. It.... doesn't look too bad, does it?
Lavenza: Oh no no no. It looks wonderful on you. I just think it needs to be fix a little is all. (Summons a Blue Comb in her Hand) Would it be alright if I comb it for you?
Morgana: (Immediately Starts Blushing) Oh! Uh...Y-Yeah! Sure. Of course you can. H-Have at it.
Lavenza: (Smiles Brightly) Splendid!~ I will do my best to make sure that the session itself will not take too long.
Morgana: (Smiles Softly) Take as much time as you need, Lavenza. I don't mind.
Lavenza: Thank you.
Sojiro: (Watches Lavenza Starting to Comb Morgana's Hair Along With Futuba) It looks like those two have gotten a lot more close as of late. You really think they have a crush on one another?
Futuba: (Smiles Brightly) Oh big time! Well, I mean, Mona's crushing the most out of the two of them, but Lavvy-chan has been enjoying his company a lot more than usual. I think they might be one step closer into admitting their true feelings to one another.
Sojiro: (Smiles Softly) I'd be happy for them whenever the time comes. They seem pretty cute together.
Futuba: That's what I've been saying!
'Glass Door Bell Ring'
Sae: (Walks into the Café While Wearing her Silver Knight Costume) ('Sigh') Finally made it.....
Futuba: Big Sis Sae!~ You here!~ And that knight costume is looking epic on you already.
Sae: (Smiles Softly) Thank you. I would've gotten here a little more sooner if it weren't for traffic. But rest assured....(Holds Up her Excalibur Sword a Little) Your knight and shining silver armor has arrived for the party.
Futuba: (Smiles Brightly) Nice!~ Your knightly acting needs some more work though.
Sae: Futuba, you know I'm not as loud and openly expressive as you are.
Futuba: Not with that attitude!
Sojiro: (Chuckles Lightly)
Sae: (Raise an Eyebrow at Sojiro) Is there something you find amusing, Mr. Sakura?
Sojiro: Oh no. Sorry. It still kind of surprise me how someone like that would be invested to something like Dungeons & Dragons.
Sae: Oh come now. It shouldn't be that surprising. I just find it to be a fun, relaxing experience is all.
Sojiro: Well, I'm glad you're having a good time with it.
Futuba: Yeah. It's good to have you on board, Big Sis Sae!
Sae: (Smiles Softly Again) Thank you.
'Glass Door Store Bell'
Omega: (Walks in the Café While Wearing his Alchemist Costume) Load and Behold! As I, Omega, the Greatest Alchemist, who has ever set foot on this planet, have made his appearance here known to all!
Futuba: Omega!!~ (Happily Rushes Over to Omega and Hugs Him) You look great, buddy!~
Sae: (Makes her Way to the Duo Along with Morgana and Lavenza) Couldn't agree more. Where's R.O.B. by the way?
Omega: He is located back at the Mansion to assist everyone on setting up for tonight's gathering. But he has requested me to show you this picture of him on my portable device. (Shows Everyone the Picture of R.O.B. in his Alchemist Costume on his Phone)
Futuba: Awwww!~ It looks good on him.
Morgana: Yeah.
Lavenza: Very well made.
Sae: (Nodded in Agreement) Mmhmm.
Sojiro: (Chuckles Lightly) Well, ain't that cute. (Starts Noticing Omega is Suddenly Staring at Him) Uhh...Is something a matter there, big guy?
Omega: I am a medium size robot who has just entered your café and your fear factor of my presence has not been detective. Why is that?
Sojiro: (Stares at the Robot for a Brief Second Before Chuckling Lightly) The answer's pretty simple really. I've seen a lot crazy and unusual things throughout out years. So.... seeing a robot here really doesn't shock me much as it used to, you know?
Futuba: (Smiles Softly at her Robot Friend) You see, Omega. I told you my Coffee Dad isn't scare of you. You're good boi.
Sojiro: (Snickers While Looking Back at Futuba) When will you ever stop calling me "Coffee Dad"?
Futuba: Until never~
'Glass Door Bell Ring'
Haru: (Rushes into the Café While Wearing her Berserker Costume) I'm here! (Starts Panting a Little While Wiping a Bit of Sweat Off of her Forehead) That was nice jog.....
Morgana: Hi, mom. You actually jogged to here?
Haru: (Happily Nodded) Mmhmm. We were stuck in traffic, so I told the limo driver that I will be going to the café on foot.
Futuba: Well, look at you working out and gaining a few muscles!~
Morgana: Yeah. You're doing great.
Haru: (Giggles Softly While Blushing) Aww, you guys~ It was nothing really. I was only trying to do my best getting here is all.
Lavenza: (Smiles Softly) And you succeed with flying colors.
Sojiro: Tell me about it. I think I'm starting to see why Futuba chose you as the team's Berserker.
Futuba: Right? Haru is like the strongest member of our party besides Sae-
'Ringtone of the Kid Icarus Theme Plays'
Futuba: (Takes Her Phone Out of her Pocket and Answers it) Hello?~.....Oh hey, bro! What's up? Is the party ready to go already?.....Mhmm...Uh-Huh....Wait. You're ACTUALLY FLYING!? Where?.....Ah man, that's sooooo cool!.....Alright. We'll be there in a few, okay? So keep flying the skies, boi!~ And....be safe while you at, kay?.....Love you too. Bye!~
'Call End'
Sojiro: Who was that?
Futuba: Pit. He was flying just now.
Morgana: Wait. Really? Without Palutena's help?
Futuba: Yep. Sora gave him, Kairi and Riku fairy dust to fly around with.
Sojiro: Isn't that the new kid who joined Smash Bros recently?
Futuba: (Smiles Brightly) That's right!~ Still can't get over that.....But also, the party is about to start so we gotta get it.
Omega: Affirmative. (Throws a Ring into the Ground, Causing it to Grow into a Bigger Size, Forming into a Dimensional Passage) Transportation is ready.
Futuba: Thanks, big guy. (Turns to Sojiro) You sure you don't wanna go with us, Sojiro? You can be a the Great and Wise Coffee Master of our party~
Sojiro: (Chuckles Lightly) That sounds tempting. But I'm afraid I'm gonna have to sit out on this one. I already plan on watching that new Candyman movie later.
Sae: Ah. The kids watched that movie a few nights ago at our place actually.
Sojiro: Really now.....Even Makoto?
Sae: (Simply Nodded) Mmhmm. She actually watched through the whole thing.
Sojiro: (Chuckles Lightly) Well, I'll be damned. That's impressive. I bet she was scared through all of that, wasn't she?
Sae: Oh big time. But she made it through regardless. And I couldn't be anymore proud.
Futuba: (Gives Sojiro a Parental Like Pout While Wiggling her Finger Around) Now, Sojiro, I want you to promise me not to say up too late tonight. If you need anything at all, don't hesitate to call me, alright?
Sojiro: (Chuckles Lightly) Since when did you started worrying about my well being?
Futuba: Since you adopted me. Gotta look after you every now and then, ya know? (Gives Sojiro a Kiss on the Cheek Before Making her Way to the Ring Along With the Others) Have a Goodnight, coffee dad! I love youuu!~ (Walks into the Ring While Waving Goodbye)
Sojiro: Love you too!....('Sigh') That kid is something else entirely.....(Smiles Softly) But as long as she's having a good time tonight, that's all it really matters in the scheme of things.

In all seriousness, I SERIOUSLY thought that Morgana was going to be a shadow that had gained self awareness like Teddy from P4. However, Morgana would've been MUCH more believable than Teddy. Teddy was an innocent that was ignorant of the world. He always acted too nice. Morgana however, had all the traits of a Shadow. Inflated ego, bias, letting his emotions control how he treats other people. He gets better as the game progresses, but it still threw me when we found out what he actually was.
[cont’d] It almost feels like Morgana started out with a different origin story, and over the ten years it took to develop the game, they changed his purpose, but kept the personality.
Yeah, I still haven’t finished the game (boyf plays the palaces bc i’m terrible at turn based fighting but he’s taking FOREVER) so I’m not 100% on what Morgana really is but I know he’s not human so I would say I totally agree that it seems like he’s supposed to be headed to a self-aware shadow. like that whole bit at the beginning when he’s like “this is my metaverse form but once i remember who i am i’ll become human!!!” and then when describing shadows he’s like “they’re humans who have forgotten who they are!!!!” ..............total set up imo
it’s disappointing to me they didn’t go that route. i think it would have completed a lot of morgana’s characterization (kind of a dick tbh) like you mention
