oh boy um, i’ve never written a humona before but uuhhhh i’ll try!!

5: “Just breathe.”and 6: “Do you trust me?”

The thing about this place was that Dirk Gently was a straight-up fucking saint to even let him in here after all that had gone down. He’d just kind of stumbled in here, literally covered in the blood of a couple of people, and Dirk had only freaked out a tiny bit. Mostly about the whole back-from-the-dead thing, and then about the blood. In the end he’d listened to his story, and then showed him the way to the bathroom and a couch to crash on.

And yeah okay, he was getting a major vibe from this place. Like he was meant to be here right now. Like the universe had tugged him here and he’d followed. After the whole Blackwing portal thing, he’d become familiar with the tug. Mostly though it tugged at his trigger finger. Which honestly was fine - he was a soldier, clear concise orders was what he liked.

But now was different. The universe had brought him here now - Dirk Gently’s Holistic Whatever, reading signs or anything was still not a thing he liked to do - and not to kill somebody. Dirk had said he was a clue, whatever that meant, and that it’d turn out later how he fit into the investigation.

The other thing about this place was that Mona Wilder lived here. That alone made Hugo want to get the fuck out of here. Mona Wilder made him nervous - not like a threat but different. Because she was this super cool shapeshifting awesome superhero angel woman and he never knew what to say to her and… well, the way she’d looked at him, in Blackwing that day, the way she’d literally turned into a gun for him? Like woah. How could he forget that shit? That shit was like something out of a movie.

He thought about it while trying to fall asleep on Dirk’s couch, and the memory of that day followed him into his dreams. He had nightmares now, occasionally, which hadn’t happened before. Before, he hadn’t been thinking about stuff that happened to him, but he was doing it all the time now. It was like that day at Blackwing, Dirk and Mona and their words had fuckstarted his brain, and the backstage of reality had finished the job. He often dreamed of that day, because well, being impaled through the chest had been fucking brutal. But there was also the look on Ken’s face, and other shit, from before, shit he’d done. Old stuff too, sometimes, from his first tour of duty. Anyway he woke up gasping and flailing for his gun.

And there was someone else in the room.

He knew he could trust his instincts on that one. Fuck, fuck, where the fuck had he put his gun?

“There’s no need for that, Mr. Friedkin,” said her voice from across the room. You couldn’t mistake that voice. No one else talked like this.

He heard feather-light footsteps on the carpet as she came over to sit on the edge of the couch.

“Please, oh my god, don’t turn into something fucked up,” he said hoarsely.

“Alright, I won’t,” Mona said brightly. “Do you trust me?”

It was a weird question all out of the blue, but he knew the answer like he’d always known.

“Yeah. An-anything. Totally. Yes.”

“That’s nice.” A cool, small hand found his in the darkness. “Now you just had a bad dream, okay? Just breathe.”

He choked on a laugh. “Breathe? Seriously?”

“Mm-hm.” The hand trailed up his arm and found its way to his throat. The bruise there had long since faded. He didn’t know what she was doing touching there now like this, all light and soft, but it felt really, really good. He closed his eyes and tried to control his breathing.

Mona was safe. He knew that in the part of him that was a… thingy in the stream of creation. When she’d said fight, he’d fought, but more importantly, when she’d said stop, he’d stopped. It wasn’t something that came easy to him, usually, when his impulse was to shoot stuff until there was no stuff left to shoot. But with her, there was another impulse, one that said to follow Mona Wilder to the ends of the earth. Putting away his gun for her had been easy.

Easy as breathing.

On Dreams and Reality

I’m not sure what to make of Wakaba being alive and Morgana being human. On one hand, it’s a dream and those things aren’t true, and on the other, it’s a huge retcon.

If they’re planning on redeeming Goro/having him live, making Wakaba turn out to be alive basically means that everyone Goro explicitly killed is now a bad person because Wakaba survived. So it’s a point in his favor. However, it undermines Futaba and Sojiro’s character development in a way I don’t like.

I’ve heard some rumors (just rumors!) that HuMona may be a romance option which, while HuMona is attractive...squicks me out. I’d much rather have one of the other PT boys be romancable. If HuMona is real then maybe it’ll be okay, but if HuMona is a dream...that’s just kinda terrible rep, especially if he’s the only one. Again, it’s only a rumor.

I’m really hoping for new info soon, especially since we got literally nothing from the “news” that came out this week.
