Do you ever think about how Drossemeyer chose Duck’s name as a way to make her feel bad about herself? Where it’s constantly used as a reminder of what she is. She’s a clumsy, ugly little duck no matter how she plays at being a girl or a princess. Even Duck herself remarks on the name as a source of shame.

I just have a lot of thoughts about Duck post canon reckoning with her name. Where she comes face to face with the realization that she can be anyone she wants and that extends to her name. Maybe Duck decides to change it to something she feels reflects her whole identity. But I think what sticks with me most is if she makes the name her own. Drosselmeyer gave it to her as a demeaning way to refer to her, but, as Duck has grown to accept and love who she is, the negative connotations are stripped away. Yes, she is a duck. She’s always been a duck. But she likes being a duck. She’s found her sense of identity and she’s found her people. Choosing to embrace (or discard) her name on her own terms is a crucial step in reclaiming her sense of self beyond the box drosselmeyer tried to force her into.

so, i’m listening to music before bed… and this song is just giving me alastor and lucifer vibes.

radioapple? yes totally. radioapple x reader? yes again.

but it also gives alastor falling in love for the first time with reader, ESPECIALLY the build up near the end of the song? It gives anxiety, and hope but yet worry and fear. And I can just SEE Alastor feeling that if he were to ever trip on feelings of the romantic kind.

But Lucifer with reader? The whole thing applies. the soft beginning asking him to lay down his armor, the defenses he’s built up because he’s been alone and Lilith left without a trace. And he wants to run from you but to you at the same time. And the same for the end part of the song, it captures the anxiety and hope but fear and ultimately in lucifer’s case the disappointment and worry and guilt he would feel moving on. but he can’t ignore it.

I just love this damn song so much and i’ve been writing Alastor and Lucifer fics today so I think i have brain rot.
