ok but like. they didn’t want him in this sport. they still don’t want him in this sport. and he’s said fuck you and become the biggest, most revolutionary figure this sport has ever seen. he has introduced fashion and music and the world of celebrity into the sport. holds every single record under the sun without ever once resorting to dodgy tactics. is THE greatest british driver of all time. is THE greatest driver of all time. advocates for marginalised groups and wears t shirts that say black power. trans power. refugee power. and his dog has a special pass to come into the paddock. i love him so much and i’m constantly amazed that i get to watch him doing it. he shouldn’t have had to come up against everything that he has but he has risen above it all. i LOVE seeing him at silverstone and getting all his flowers 🌸

#I doubt Daniel would have gotten a point anyway #the m-m-s strategy looked good on paper and while it was kind of ruined by the timing of the safety car #I don’t think the RB would have the pace enough to make that final charge on softs really count #I know a lot has already been said about RB’s strategy making abilities #i love that Daniel seems to have a say on what strategies he wants #which after mclaren is so refreshing #and I have to admit despite his quali results; this year and last year he has been really good at making them work for him in the race #but I do feel Daniel’s sometimes a bit too ambitious with his choice of strategy??#by his own admission he chose to start on the mediums in Japan and we all know this sorta played into the crash with Alex #on one hand I would rather him go for a more conservative strategy that mirrors what the cars in the midfield are on #on the other hand. now that he seems to be getting his pace back. maybe those ambitious strategies would pay off???#daniel ricciardo #China24

thinkin about those shitty white dudes on set who talked about oj's dad dying as insensitively as possible while he was still in earshot and how it's not just a condemnation of the sort of attitudes bred in the industry and the lack of empathy given to people in work places but also a condemnation of the way society sort of expects men, especially black men, to just carry on in the face of the most traumatic shit that can possibly happen to a normal person

#my husband actually (seriously) pointed out to me that you have to filter all of OJ's actions and behaviors through the lens of someone #still freshly enduring a huge amount of grief #but no one ever does because #YA KNOW.#like i don't feel super qualified to talk about race because i'm white but i do have a degree in this kinda stuff so #anyway yeah nope is a good portrait of how non-white folks trauma is not treated with respect or gravity now i'm done bye #oj haywood #nope

I've tried a couple of times to get my thoughts organized regarding white viewers commentary on how AMC's IWTV handles race, but I'll just simply say there's definitely a cynicism that is common in a lot of those analysis that is...bemusing.

#iwtv #amc iwtv #iwtv discourse #it's hard to describe #but it's half 'amc did the raceswap to get wokeness points so they have to beat audiences on the head with it every other minute'#and half 'oh they're just addressing race in the wrong way and it hurts the credibility of loustat as a couple'#i remember when maven in one of her reactions was like the show is making lestat a white savior #and literally all the black people (including me) in comments were like 'huh??'#I was also reading another recap that was generally really good and interesting esp about nola #but they thought Claudia calling Lestat massa #was the show handling race clumsily #which is just fascinating to me because wow folks really don't know why Claudia was doing that?#like that felt perfectly in character and spot on to me #first off she legitimately feels that way and we see her say that in the show #but at the same time it's also a point of attack that she can make without reprisal from lestat #lestat basically like disengages when she does it and it's funny to me ngl

after rereading dark rise i am now pondering the similarities between james immediately being cast out by the stewards when they realized he was a reborn despite the fact that he had no control over who his past self was versus strict religious communities that believe being gay is a sin and someone is inherently bad because of their sexuality even though they're just born that way and it's a normal part of a person

Just finished my first playthrough of BG3. Romanced Lae'zel, but ending up turning into an Illithid because the idea of making Orpheus or Karlach do it didn't sit well with me (or my character).

I told Lae'zel to leave with Orpheus in the end (I heard she wouldn't stay with a ghaik anyway, which she's valid for, but also, it doesn't feel right to ask her to stay when I know how much her people mean to her). And like-

nightbringer lesson 14 FUCKED ME UP in several ways but primarily I've spent the last 48 hours making myself sad over the solomon backstory we got. specifically I have, for no reason, latched onto that one chapter in the Kids event where baby solomon cried because he felt so guilty over being responsible for that spell. and that just feels a touch more depressing in context

#nightbringer spoilers #obey me on side #went back and unlocked the event again because i could not get this out of my brain i know it's probably not that deep #but it is that deep TO ME. okay #baby solomon has been on my brain since thirteen told that story so that's probably why it's sticking in my brain so hard but whatever #in case anyone was wondering the other things to make me sad are:#he has such a deeply excessive amount of lights in his room in purgatory hall there are SEVERAL chandeliers and lamps #there's a good handful in his room in cocytus hall too (his horror dg showed it) if a more normal amount #but that with the 'dim and gloomy' detail. ☹️#i've also always thought that solomon's loneliness wasn't all about the immortal angst but like.#having it confirmed that he's had reason to be lonely since he was a child- before he was old enough to know he was using magic-#totally crushed me girl why can't I be wrong #had emotions about lesson 14 in general but solomon backstory steals the show every time for me so i haven't gotten around to the rest #i'm enjoying the nightbringer story so much (not talking about the game design. that's a different thing entirely) but man #the pacing is WILD it feels like every lesson could be a whole lesson block at the least. it's giving me a lot of room to speculate #which I always love! but i do wish they would slow down a little and expand on some of these concepts they're bringing up #because the basic idea of the game alone is REALLY INTRIGUING and it'd be a shame if they raced back to the present imo #what was i even talking about. sorry my brain fast forwards as soon as i get into the tags there is not one sequitur to be seen #so curious about solomon's friend now too. like my guess is it's going to be lilith (and hopefully not in a popular fan theory kind of way)#because it's more than a little suspicious that they expanded on lilith's views on humans the way they did #in a way that SO PERFECTLY lines up with the expansion on solomon's views on humans #WHICH I HAVEN'T TALKED ABOUT YET BY THE WAY BUT LIKE. HE IS SO RIGHT AND REAL FOR THAT #it's beyond stressful to me that I think solomon is completely justified in his views and being completely reasonable about it #but that it would also mean war between the worlds presumably while the brothers are still recovering from THEIRS #you cannot give me that choice man. not even sure that the human world would be ABLE to win that fight if we're being real #solomon's 72 pacts are a lot yes but he's still only one guy who is NOT on good terms with the sorcerer's society #and mc is powerful but so so inexperienced. and that's IF they choose to side with the human world which #really i don't think the canon mc is likely to do. but anyway i guess solomon's friend could also be adam maybe?#that could be wishful thinking because i like adam though. even if his hair SUUUCKS #deeply offended by everyone thinking solomon got the fucked up hair when all signs point to adam be NICE TO HIM he's ugly already

been in kinda a weird spot regards to my own art lately where nothing seems good enough or i feel like ive been on a downhill streak that ive barely touched my tablet since the year started except when its school related..,...., probably burnout from an entire year interning for animation and concept work i feel a bit lacking and falling behind wjhdhfjehd
