#i literally paid to go to a torture museum

ginger i regularly will hit play on philza’s stream playlist, write for four hours, and then pass out. when i wake up my earbuds have fallen out and the music has stopped and then i put them back in and hit play again. the playlist ends. i reopen spotify and start the playlist again. the cycle continues.
i’m pretty sure that’s how they used to torture people in medieval europe just minus the writing and the enjoyment and the consent

people have already written essays about why the retcon making the disc war finale staged doesn’t work, but I’m still annoyed so here’s a list of everything that makes no sense in this context off the top of my head
first off, punz:
1: when dream Told punz to pretend to betray him punz asked who the prison was for and he refused to answer, why? why bother saying that it was for “someone capable” if it was For Dream in the first place? there was no reason to withhold that information, especially not when punz Had to know to help put him in prison in the first place.
2: why have punz find tommy’s payment on stream and talk about how it’d been more than dream had ever paid him before, talk about how he and dream aren’t really Friends (implying why he’d be betraying him later). he had no one else to perform to, this was entirely for the audience’s benefit.
3: cc!punz has outright stated that c!punz has an attachment to tommy after he saved him at pandora’s vault. and this extended into c!punz in the narrative when he resisted the egg’s hold for a moment to mourn for tommy when he learned he’d died (while the rest of the eggpire was celebrating), saying “but I saved him” in a Genuinely small voice. he was egged, meaning not only would he have an excuse for not feeling bad for tommy (meaning again, no reason to act here), but it would’ve taken Real Willpower to express that Against the egg’s wishes.
second off, dream:
1: if the ultimate goal of all of this was to make the server think that he’d changed while he makes tommy look crazy (and untrustworthy), then the Best thing he could’ve done is just torture him. literally he could’ve just not told anyone about the revival book, because who would Believe that tommy was being killed and brought back if they didn’t know that was even Possible. keeping him in regular exile, experimenting on him, and framing him for griefs would’ve been Immediately more effective than what he actually did.
2: if his goal was to make people think that he’d changed and Not believe that he was hurting tommy then What Was All That Then? why did he tell sam about abusing tommy in exile? why did he Literally Kill tommy? why did he ask quackity if him killing tommy was cool? why did he have Multiple Public speeches about how the only thing he wanted was control over tommy? why did Specifically And Intentionally bring everyone into his attachments museum where he directly incriminated himself with something that literally no one else alive knew he had been trying to do? why did he have a shrine of gold for the discs that everyone else was going to see? why did he Intentionally have tommy bring tubbo into the fight, someone who most people on the server liked, and threaten to take his life? why did he Stalk tommy at technoblade’s house, showing up uninvited multiple times, breaking into techno’s house when he wasn’t there, and confront them at the portal? why did he have his “showing his true colors” speech during doomsday at the top of the obsidian grid where he specifically outed how he enjoyed hurting tommy and never intended to stop where anyone could have heard him (where quackity and tubbo Did hear him)?
3: if he commissioned the prison specifically for him to be put in it then why did he intentionally make the living conditions terrible? why did he Stop sam from making comforts for the prisoners? why did he intentionally create the worst environment possible and then give someone who Isn’t in on his plan, someone who he Intentionally provoked with stories of him abusing a child, complete control over him. why did he write the contracts to be as Binding as they are if he was intended to be put in and escape? why did he set himself up to be hunted down until fully dead?
4: why did dream never try to pay off sam in the first place? if he wanted himself to be put in prison then he could’ve just had sam do that without the disc war finale ever taking place. he literally did not have to do any of that x2
like, people forget that sam is as much of a capitalist as punz is. he was Fully Invested in giving the badlands power and he wants to Invent The Banks. why Only pay off punz when it’s Sam who would have the most power over him.

where: Spring Charity Gala, Gallagher Museum
when: dinner service
with: open
Sitting with his family and friends at the gala, there was nothing more that brought Rocco joy than the fact that for the evening, everything was going as well as one could hope it to be. They were all dressed in their utmost dapper and gorgeous best. The bids had been placed and won -- both for art and dates. Giovanni was officially his boyfriend. Money had been donated to the charity, and their enemies, well, had been civil, for the most part. Simply put, all was well.
But fate was a bitch waiting in lie to turn his whole world upside down. Literally.
Halfway done with his steak, a sudden pang of aching began to hurt in his head, akin to that of a migraine. For a second there, he reached for his glass of water, believing that he might have finally gone overboard with the alcohol for the evening. Perhaps one too many champagne flutes, if anything. Pausing in his meal, Rocco took a deep breathe, leaning back against his chair.
Suddenly, the commotion began, but he paid no attention. Instead, he was focusing wholly on shallow breathing, gripping his table napkin in one hand. His other hand rubbed against his thigh, a self-soothing gesture as chest rose and dropped with every inhale and exhale. Blinking desperately to fight through the struggle of regaining his focus, he could feel the room suddenly spinning around, his head beginning to lull back and forth in a torturously slow pace.
Clutching his chest, Rocco struggled to utter a single thing. “I--- I---” he gasped, unable to form any coherent words as he fell sideways from his chair, falling to the ground as his muscles gave way.

After the Museum Date
I had an anon that requested:  I wish you would write a fic where Julia and Carmen are able to interact without Chase and V.I.L.E. interrupting them
Tumblr won’t let me add read more’s to asks so rather than torture all my lovely readers I’m going to post it here. Thanks for the request!
This is the direct sequel to the previous Jule Thief piece. (Museum Date), (Coffee Date)
Julia stood at the balcony door of her hotel room. The view of the Eiffel Tower was breathtaking. Privately this was one of the best parts about working for ACME. Interpol never paid for the best rooms, but now she had an uninterrupted view of Paris. She turned away from the view, glancing at the clock as she walked into her room. Two in the morning. She was exhausted but couldn't sleep.
Julia had spent the past couple of days working tirelessly in preparation for the Louvre Gala, then the ACME agents and the Interpol officers had their work cut out for them, arresting would be thieves and filling out paperwork.
The Chief was annoyed that Julia had Carmen Sandiego literally in her arms but didn't capture her. Julia was able to get Chief off her back by saying that Carmen Sandiego had hinted at other VILE operatives also being there.
ACME was now investigating the blonde Carmen had called Tigress, and the Frenchman who had danced with Julia. Hopefully eventually they would realize Carmen wasn't working with VILE. But she wasn't going to hold her breath.
Julia walked into the bathroom, maybe a shower would help her fall asleep. As she showered she couldn't help but feel a tingle on her lips. Carmen Sandiego had kissed her. She almost felt like she was in a daze.
The note Carmen had given her sat on her bedside table. Julia had read it again and again. "Thanks for the dance!" It read, signed Carmen. It had been folded into an origami heart. And sealed with a kiss in her red lipstick.
Julia toweled off and wrapped herself in the plush bathrobe. She was glad Carmen had worn a different lipstick to the dance, there was no trace of the kiss they shared while the lights were off, other than her burning ears. And she had managed to pass that off as embarrassment at letting Ms. Sandiego get away.
She emerged from the bathroom, a cloud of stream following her out. She was wearing the bathrobe, her damp hair swept back from her face. She felt a slight chill and hurried to close the balcony door. Curious. She was sure the door had been closed when she entered the shower. Unless…Julia turned around and there sitting on one of the chairs was Carmen Sandiego. She was back in her trademark hat and jacket.
"I've already swept the room for bugs. We can speak freely." Carmen said softly.
"Are you making house calls now Ms. Sandiego?" Julia asked.
"I just wanted to talk, and apologize."
Julia sat down on the bed. She spent a few silent seconds organizing her thoughts. Yes she loved Carmen, but she was also an officer of the law. She needed to be sure of a few things.
"If you want me to trust you, you need to answer some of my questions." Julia finally said. Carmen sat forward resting her arms on her knees, she nodded for her to continue. "You said you were no longer with VILE, but you were at one point?"
"I was raised by the faculty of the VILE crime academy. We had a...falling out, after I left." Carmen seemed to curl in on herself, she avoided eye contact, but she could see the glisten of tears in her eyes. Julia had never seen her looking this vulnerable. She decided against pursuing that line of questioning further.
"What were you doing at the gala tonight?" Julia asked instead.
"Every thief worth their salt knows the one time the Louvre collection is vulnerable is the yearly Gala. There's too many guest for security to keep an eye on everything. From my own reconnaissance I knew there was only going to be one moment where anyone could steal something and hope to get away with it. And worse of all the infamy of the theft and press coverage would increase the value of anything sold."
Carmen sighed and rubbed her face. Julia couldn't help but notice how tired the woman in red looked. "Tigress needed to knock out the power during that precise moment and she could get away with whatever she wanted. The only thing I could do was stall her. So I did. The signal blocker worked for a little while. Then I danced with you. Got everyone's attention, so the other thieves wouldn't be able to take advantage. I knew Tigress would get jealous when she wasn't the center of attention."
"Were you two...close?" Julia asked.
"We never dated if that's what you're asking. She was the closest rival I had at the academy. She's been the angriest since my departure, the most aggressive when we meet in the field."
Julia didn't say anything. She was glad she didn't have to compete with the gorgeous blonde. After a second of silence Carmen continued.
"We fought during the dance. You saw the aftermath of that." She gently rubbed her chest and Julia could tell she was going to have a bruise under her eye. "She was able to cut the wires of my signal blocker. But I picked her pocket and got the trigger for the EMP. I set it off before she could get in position or take it back."
Carmen leaned back a satisfied smile. "It took months of work to figure out their plan. Weeks of sleepless nights to make sure VILE had no other options while maintaining the smoke screen that they had found something no one had thought of. And it all came down to a single pocket picked during a dance.”
This was more the Carmen, Julia knew. Confident and self-assured. She couldn’t help but smile at her.
“You said you wanted to apologize, what for?” The smile slipped from Carmen’s face. Julia almost regretted asking the question.
“I may have painted a bit of a target on your back now. VILE will soon learn that I danced with you. They may send someone after you like they did with Chase. I’m so sorry.”
That actually wasn’t that surprising. Chase had already been targeted, Julia felt it was only a matter of time before they came for her as well.
“I may be able to talk to my superiours about increasing my security.” Julia said slowly.
“It might also help if you can describe a credible threat. For instance famed villain Carmen Sandiego tossing your hotel room?” Carmen suggested.
“And have you labeled forever as a violent criminal?” Julia sat up aghast.
“I may not be violent, but I am a criminal.” She said with laugh, then she grew serious again. “It would be worth it to make sure you stay safe.”
“Then how would you come to see me again?” Julia asked. Carmen’s smile grew sad.
“Do you actually want to see me again?” She asked in response. At Julia’s ernest nod, her smile brightened again. “I’m the greatest thief in the world. I’ve stolen from an organization of master criminals, and it seems I’ve stolen your heart as well. If I want to be close to you I’ll find a way! But for now I think it’s time for me to leave. I’ll be back in the morning to make it look like we had a fight.”
Julia smiled at her again. Carmen smiled back, then stood and walked to the balcony door.
“Carmen! Wait!” The woman in red turned. “Stay with me. At least till morning!”
Carmen turned, taking off her hat and jacket as she did so, draping them on the arm of the chair. She kicked off her boots and crawled into the bed beside Julia. They leaned against each other, hands intwined. Julia laughed to herself. The infamous thief Carmen Sandiego was in her bed! She wasn’t sure she had ever dared to dream that something like this would happen.
It only took a few minutes for Carmen to fall asleep completely. Julia kissed her cheek gently, then allowed herself to doze off, Ms. Sandiego sleeping against her.
Julia awoke in the early morning. Carmen was still sleeping against her. She gently carded her fingers through her red locks. Carmen made a small noise then turned and put her arm across Julia. She could tell that she was awake by the change in her breathing.
“Good morning beautiful.” Julia whispered.
“Mmm. Good Morning. Are you ready for me to toss your room?” Carmen said, her voice still heavy with sleep.
“I think I’ll go down for breakfast in a little while. That should give you plenty of time to make it look convincing.” Julia murmored. “But right now I just want to stay with you.”
“So are we officially dating?”
“I think so.” Julia smiled and kissed the top of Carmen’s head.
Hopefully this one lets me put in the read more. I’ve trouble with asks in the past.

Salem 2019 Part II
I woke up my second morning in Salem and thankfully, it wasn’t raining anymore! The weather wasn’t great as it was still a bit gloomy and cold out, but at least I’d be able to walk around outside, which was the plan for the day. I woke up a bit earlier than planned and decided that instead of taking an Uber again, I would attempt to take the local bus to downtown Salem. I googled the price online and there were so many different prices?? It made no sense to me, but I came to the conclusion that it appeared the fare was $5.50, which seemed like a lot but if you saw the website, it made sense. I used my map app on my phone to help me walk to the stop, and I made it there in time!
And then this mother fucking bus driver watches me pay with a god damn $5 bill before telling me that the fare was only $3. Thanks man.
Tumblr media
So there I was, off to Salem again. Even though I had the whole bus route on my phone, I kept getting worried that I had somehow messed up and was on the wrong bus. Thankfully, I wasn’t and I arrived downtown. I went to the same cafe for lunch, and decided to walk around and see what I could find. I stumbled upon the Gallows Hill Museum & The Lost Museum, and they had a specialty ticket price if you bought both at the same time.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Now remember in part I where I said Salem calls everything museums... Yeah, THESE ARE NOT MUSEUMS!! Gallows Hill Museum is a theatre act (okay, I will give them some credit because it does say museum/theatre) and you go into one PITCH BLACK ROOM and a man puts on a one-man show with JUMP SCARES. I, personally, do not like haunted houses. I do not like to be scared. So now I’m stuck in this theater show thats literally meant to make you jump. Sis, I was just jumping from anxiety jitters the whole time okay. Honestly the guy really did do a good job & had I not been alone and known what I was getting into, I probably would have appreciated and enjoyed it more.
The Lost Museum however.... ITS LIKE AN ESCAPE ROOM COURSE THING. Man I don’t know how to explain it. I just wanted to look at some fucking museum things. But noooo, after my Gallows Hill jumps I thought this would maybe be the museum part. NOPE. We ended up in a group of 5, lucky me being the fifth wheel to two couples, and had a tour guide. When we went into the first room and suddenly everything went black and we “had to escape” I knew in my heart I had fucked up. This was not a museum. This was my own personal torture chamber. We had to go through so many rooms and figure out how to escape them, with things popping up and screaming at us to make us scared. In the last room, the tour guide looked at me and said “you! Go turn that lever so we can escape” and I looked at her and went “No fucking way!” and refused hahaha. I’m a chicken shit okay. Honestly it felt like it was never ending and I was not having it. Salem, please for the love of God, stop calling everything a God damn museum.
Tumblr media
So after my two back to back NOT museum experiences, I decided to take a walk to find the real Gallows Hill, which is the spot where the accused witches were hung. On my way I walked past the Witch House, which is a popular tourist attraction and had a huge crowd/line in front of it, so I didn’t go in.
Tumblr media
Also saw this neat building!
Tumblr media
OOGA BOOGA.
Tumblr media
I stopped in this little, kind of sketchy liquour store on my walk and picked up a 4pack of these cute little wine bottles. After I paid I took them out of the package and asked the guy to throw it out for me and tossed them in my purse. He laughed at me.
I’m super bummed to admit that apparently I didn’t even take a picture of the real Gallows Hill! The exact spot were the hangings took place is called Proctor’s Ledge and it was only discovered in 2016. Its a really nice memorial spot, but I wish it wasn’t on such a busy intersection and right behind a Walgreens. Oh well. Heres an image from the Salem Witch Museum website.
Tumblr media
After hanging out there for a little while and reading about the memorials, I decided to head back into town.
Tumblr media
I decided I wanted to go to the Satanic Temple, but after my map glitching out and sending me in circles for 15 minutes, I gave up. I found a bench in front of an apartment to relax and sip some wine, and a local happened to see me outside and started talking to me. He was a bit older but he was very kind and was telling me about how long he had lived there, how much he loves the community, and how cool he thought I was for travelling here alone.
Tumblr media
I decided to get some dinner. I knew there was a restaurant inside the Witch City Mall, and got some pad thai. It was the blandest, saddest pad thai I have ever had.
As it was starting to get dark and the day was coming to an end, I realized I had $60 left and three options: go into more museums, buy souvenirs, or go bar hopping alone.
Guess which one I chose. Let the shit show begin, stay tuned for part III.

Supernatural 12.13 Family Feud
Used to work in Andover.
Tickle. Tickle. Tickle.
But why these teachers? There are a lot of teachers from K-college.And probably dozens that go to the same museum on any given day. Soooo... why these ones?
Oh Damn. My media player has a transparency slider and I have never noticed. Or if I have, I forgot, which is basically the same.
They had to move the chair from where it was to where it is. While Lucifer was in it.
I do enjoy that Dean is kinda clumsy.
On the one hand, don’t take phone calls in front of your prisoners. On the other, every time someone walks out of a room while they have a prisoner, they don’t have a prisoner when they get back to the room.
Fuck me up, Sam’s Smile.
I do enjoy Dagon’s voice.
Slay the Patriarchy.
Is that a duffel bag?
Didn’t she have paid passage? Why would she stowaway? Was Gavin planning on stealing her onto the ship?
Okie. I guess I’ve never paid much attention, but now I have to ask. Do you say pem-BROKE or pem-brook, because I know how we pronounce it here, and it isn’t like that.
Loved her so much he chose to stay in our time.
Remember when Gavin hated Crowley so much that he gave up his bones so Crowley could be sent to the final death? Because the writers didn’t.
Man, I love when they get their hearts crushed.
To all my future kids, if an organization tortures you, I promise not to leave you for them.
Deleted Scenes:
Gas N’ Sip will just hire anyone, eh?
With Commentary:
Thanks for the recap, but I have been watching the entire time.
Ruth Connell is easier to scare than I.
"We wanted to do a MotW episode, but, like, with all the myth arc in it too. You know. Annoy the whole fan base.”
No one thought Lucifer got sent back to the cage? They literally showed Lucifer going down a grate.
Bless Ruthie for trying to get them to commentate.
They literally said you can’t get rid of Crowley.
If you think your audience twelve years in isn’t versed enough in your universe that you need a stand in to explain it to them, you are doing something wrong.
Incest jokes, but not about Sam and Dean.
Ruth Connell watched 14 episodes of Supernatural, and basically figured out the relationships for the character they were casting. I mean she was a little off, but damn.
If your demon think it’s a good guy, you’re doing it wrong.
It would’ve been better to see the OG actor back. Just sayin.
I’m sorry. Did you just call this clip from three years ago from “last year”? Yes. Yes you fucking did.
The sainted character that sold her second born to the demons. mmm.
Jensen runs a quiet set.
Ruth Fiona Connell. Fiona is the name I’m going to name my non-existent daughter, and now I have one more reason for it.
She actually doesn’t know her boys.

Cambodia / south Vietnam
Cambodia is one of the most beautiful countries I’ve ever seen. The Kingdom of Cambodia (sometimes transliterated as Kampuchea to more closely represent the Khmer pronunciation) is a Southeast Asian nation bordered by Vietnam to the east, Laos to the north, Thailand to the northwest, and the Gulf of Thailand to the southwest.
We decided to divide our trip in two parts: 10 days in Cambodia and 10 days in southern Vietnam. Actually, if you haven’t planned yet, you can easily visit Cambodia and Myanmar- as Emirats (the airline we flew with) makes always a stop in Myanmar- or Cambodia and Thailand.
I share now with you the Excel file with the plan we did:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Phnom Penh was our first stop. It’s a city you just became stuck in. It sucked you in. It was laid back, cheap, and easy-going. It’s gritty, polluted, and full of dust. Buildings are run down, lots remain empty, and the streets are filled with chaos. People line the bars for hours on end on hot afternoons. Cars zoom past rickshaw drivers. People laugh on the corner like they used to, and the old men play their domino games. Everyone’s in a hurry to get nowhere. Yet this was a city of contrasts, with ritzy hotels standing next to abandoned buildings. They were still celebrating the arrival of ATM machines when I visited. The city was changing rapidly, and there was such contrast that the feeling of possibility was tangible.
I suggest you to spend at least 2/3 days in PP.
Tumblr media
MONEY in Cambodia:
You can live like royalty there with a budget of USD 100 per day. This includes accommodations, food and drinks, shopping, transportation. It’s so economical that couples can do well with as little as USD 50 each per day. If you’re a solo budget traveler staying in a hostel, then you can probably get by with around USD 30 a day.
Conveniently, USD is the de facto currency in Cambodia. It’s accepted everywhere. The only time you’ll ever see Cambodian Riel is when it’s given to you as small change from USD transactions >> That’s bad cause prices are very different for tourists and locals.
TRANSPORT in Cambodia:
“Tuk-Tuk”: You will get sick of this word. But taking a tuk- tuk is the easiest way to visit around. Usually, a tuk-tuk for the whole day costs around 15 USD (if you stay in the city). If you wanna go outside, it’s a little bit more expensive (30 USD for the whole day). One way by tuk-tuk is usually around 2/3 USD.
Tumblr media
WHAT TO SEE in Phnom Penh:
Silver Pagoda
Within the Royal Palace compound is the extravagant Silver Pagoda, also known as Wat Preah Keo or Temple of the Emerald Buddha. It is so named for its floor, which is covered with five tons of gleaming silver. (Bring a long-sleeve t-shirt > they are really strict!)
Tumblr media
Tuol Sleng Museum of Genocidal Crimes
In 1975, Tuol Svay Prey High School was taken over by Pol Pot’s security forces and turned into a prison known as Security Prison 21 (S-21); it soon became the largest centre of detention and torture in the country.
That was probably one of the saddest day of my life. The history is really interesting. The visit worth.
Tumblr media
National Museum of Cambodia
Located just north of the Royal Palace, the National Museum of Cambodia is housed in a graceful terracotta structure of traditional design (built from 1917 to 1920), with an inviting courtyard garden.
Royal Palace
With its classic Khmer roofs and ornate gilding, the Royal Palace dominates the diminutive skyline of Phnom Penh.
Tumblr media
Psar Thmei
A landmark building in the capital, the art-deco Psar Thmei (literally 'New Market') is often called the Central Market, a reference to its location and size.
FCC
A Phnom Penh institution, the ‘F’ is housed in a colonial gem with great views and cool breezes. It's one of those must-see places in Cambodia. Happy hours are 5pm to 7pm and 10pm to midnight.
Killing Fields of Choeung Ek
Between 1975 and 1978 about 17,000 men, women, children and infants who had been detained and tortured at S-21 were transported to the extermination camp of Choeung Ek. Get ready for a really sad visit/day.
Russian Market
This sweltering bazaar is the one market all visitors should come to at least once during a trip to Phnom Penh. It is the place to shop for souvenirs and discounted name-brand clothing. It’s perfect for buying suvenirs.
Tumblr media
Wat Phnom
Set on top of a 27m-high tree-covered knoll, Wat Phnom is on the only ‘hill’ in town.
Independence Monument
Modelled on the central tower of Angkor Wat, Independence Monument was built in 1958 to commemorate the country’s independence from France in 1953.
Psar Kandal
Phnom Penh’s many markets all have large central eating areas, where stalls serve up local faves like noodle soup and fried noodles.
*From PP you can take a tuk-tuk and in 40 min you are in Oudong, the old capital of Cambodia. It’s not turistic but it’s really beautiful!!!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
WHERE TO EAT in Phnom Penh:
-Kabbas >> the BEST restaurant in PP
-Friends
-Khmer Surin
-Mok Mony
WHERE TO DRINK in Phnom Penh:
Bassac Lane is the perfect place to go for drinks. It consists of one narrow street, but there are nice bars where to spend the evening/night.
The best one is @The Den where a friendly Lebanese bartender is always ready to welcome new people, talk to them and prepare them tasty cocktails. It really worth.
WHERE TO STAY in Phnom Penh:
-       TeaHouse was one of the best hotel. Really good price/quality.

From Phnom Penh you can easily reach Siem Reap by bus. It takes around 6 hours.
If you’re flying, then you’ll be arriving at Siem Reap International Airport (REP). From there, you can take a tuk tuk or taxi to your hotel. A tuk tuk costs 6 USD to get you to Siem reap’s city center while a taxi will charge about USD 7 for a sedan and USD 10 for a van.
Siem Reap is full of surprises. Everyone knows about the Angkor temples but this place has more to offer than that. I was expecting a quiet small town with little to do at night and few dining options but that wasn’t the case at all. Pub Street is a boombox at night and there are plenty of interesting restaurants in town, most of which won’t break the bank.
Tourists come to Siem Reap to visit the Angkor temples. For first-time visitors, it’s important to understand that there isn’t just one temple. The most famous one — Angkor Wat — is just one of many temples scattered in a large area. To visit them, you’ll need to buy an Angkor pass. Prices are as follows:
One day – USD 37 Three days – USD 62 Seven days – USD 72
I will suggest you to spend at least 3 days in Siem Reap, if you are interested in all the temples.
WHAT TO SEE in Siem Reap:
Ta Phrom
That was my favourite. Home to giant roots reclaiming the ruins, Ta Phrom is where Tomb Raider was actually filmed. These massive roots enveloping the temples was a spectacular sight. Definitely a must-see.

Angkor Thom & Bayon Temple
The largest temple in the complex, Angkor Thom is the second most visited temple after Angkor Wat. Covering an area of 9 sq km, at the center of Angkor Thom is Bayon Temple, which is home to these massive, carved stone heads.
Tumblr media
Angkor Wat
The jewel of the Angkor complex. The largest Hindu temple complex in the world, Angkor Wat is a massive structure surrounded on all sides by a moat. How they managed to build this in the 12th century is mind-blowing. I visited Angkor Wat twice — once during the day and another early in the morning to get my sunrise shot.

 Bantaey Srei
Around an hour away by tuk-tuk from the main temple complex, Bantaey Srei is one of the smaller temples but also one of the most unique. The only temple made from pink sandstone, it boasts the best, most intricate temple carvings of all. I made arrangements with our hotel and paid USD 22 roundtrip. You may be able to get this for less if you negotiated outside of your hotel. It takes about an hour to get there so we left bright and early at 6:30 AM. It’s definitely worth a visit.

Landmine Museum
The landmine museum is along the way to Bantaey Srei so it’s a frequent stop on the return trip back to town. It tells the story of landmines in Cambodia and their sobering impact on the country’s past, present, and future. Entrance to the museum is USD 5.
Instead of going to Battambang, as planned, we did a jungle trekking > Just be careful because people say there are still mines.
Tumblr media
Battambang was too far away and too expensive to do in one day.

*Community First: Kompong Khleang Floating Village Tours
This tour is conducted by a non-profit NGO. Our guide, Paren, is an amazing guy. He speaks fluent English and is very knowledgeable about Kompong Khleang. This is because he grew up there, benefited from this NGO and hence has many experience and opinion to share. You will get to see the life in Kompong Khleang and how the NGO is trying to promote education for the children there. The highlight of this trip is the boat ride to Tonle Sap and we also met a few fishermen who was Paren's neighbor. You will not regret signing up for this tour and at the same time help fund this NGO.

INTERESTING ACTIVITIES in Siem Reap:
-       If you are brave enough, you can rent a bike and ride through the fields and the city (!!! Be careful > traffic is crazy).
-       Cooking classes with Khmer Cuisine :P

-       Massages > they are really cheap and they are perfect after a long day walking.
From Siem Reap we flew to Saigon (Ho Chi Minh City).
Ho Chi Minh City (HCMC) is Vietnam at its most dizzying: a high-octane city of commerce and culture that has driven the country forward with its pulsating energy. A chaotic whirl, the city breathes life and vitality into all who settle here, and visitors cannot help but be hauled along for the ride.
From the finest of hotels to the cheapest of guesthouses, the classiest of restaurants to the tastiest of street stalls, the choicest of boutiques to the scrum of the markets, HCMC is a city of energy and discovery.
Wander through timeless alleys to incense-infused temples before negotiating chic designer malls beneath sleek 21st-century skyscrapers. The ghosts of the past live on in buildings that one generation ago witnessed a city in turmoil, but now the real beauty of the former Saigon’s urban collage is the seamless blending of these two worlds into one exciting mass.

MONEY in Vietnam:
Life in Vietnam in even cheaper than in Cambodia > it seems a paradox, but there is a reason: prices in Vietnam are the same for tourists and locals.
 TRANSPORT in HCMC:
In HCMC you can easily walk around (Be careful when you cross the streets > On 10 Million person, there are 8 million scooters that NEVER STOP!).
Tumblr media
You can also grab a taxi; it’s not expensive.
WHAT TO SEE in HCMC:
War Remnants Museum
Formerly the Museum of Chinese and American War Crimes, the War Remnants Museum is consistently popular with Western tourists. Few museums anywhere convey the brutal effects of war on its civilian victims…
Giac Lam Pagoda
Believed to be the oldest temple in HCMC (1744), Giac Lam is a fantastically atmospheric place set in peaceful, gardenlike grounds.
Quan Ut Ut
With a name roughly translating to the 'Oink Oink Eatery', this casual place with river views celebrates everything porcine with an American-style BBQ spin. Huge streetside grills prepare great ribs, spicy sausages…
Reunification Palace
Surrounded by royal palm trees, the dissonant 1960s architecture of this government building and the eerie mood that accompanies a walk through its deserted halls make it an intriguing spectacle.
Jade Emperor Pagoda
Built in 1909 in honour of the supreme Taoist god (the Jade Emperor or King of Heaven, Ngoc Hoang), this is one of the most spectacularly atmospheric temples in Ho Chi Minh City.
Tumblr media
Fine Arts Museum
With its airy corridors and verandahs, this elegant 1929 colonial-era yellow-and-white building is stuffed with period details;
Phuoc An Hoi Quan Pagoda
Delightfully fronted by greenery and opening to an interior blaze of red, gold, green and yellow, this is one of the most beautifully ornamented temples in town, dating from 1902.
History Museum
Built in 1929 by the Société des Études Indochinoises, this notable Sino-French museum houses a rewarding collection of artefacts illustrating the evolution of the cultures of Vietnam.
Notre Dame Cathedral
Built between 1877 and 1883, Notre Dame Cathedral enlivens the heart of Ho Chi Minh City's government quarter, facing Ð Dong Khoi. A brick, neo-Romanesque church with 40m-high square towers tipped with iron spires.
Binh Tay Market
Cholon’s main market has a great clock tower and a central courtyard with gardens. Much of the business here is wholesale but it’s popular with tour groups. The market was originally built by the French in the 1880s.
Central Post Office
Right across the way from Notre Dame Cathedral, Ho Chi Minh City's striking French post office is a period classic, designed by Gustave Eiffel and built between 1886 and 1891.
Hum Lounge & Restaurant
This new opening brings the excellent Vietnamese-inspired vegetarian cuisine of the city's long-established Hum Vegetarian Cafe & Restaurant to a central garden location.
Bitexco Financial Tower
The 68-storey, 262m-high, Carlos Zapata–designed skyscraper dwarfs all around it. It's reportedly shaped like a lotus bulb, but also resembles a CD rack with a tambourine shoved into it.

-       CAN THO (it’s better to spend one night there)
The epicentre of the Mekong Delta, Can Tho is the largest city in the region and feels like a metropolis after a few days exploring the backwaters. As the political, economic, cultural and transportation centre of the Mekong Delta, it’s a buzzing town with a lively waterfront lined with sculpted gardens, an appealing blend of narrow backstreets and wide boulevards, and perhaps the greatest concentration of foreigners in the Delta. It is also the perfect base for nearby floating markets, the major draw for tourists who come here to boat along the many canals and rivers leading out of town.
Tumblr media
There are many tours from HCMC. You can easily join them and they are not expensive.
Flights from HCMC to Phu Quoc are really cheap (30 USD circa). And Phu Quoc is really an amazing island!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Fringed with white-sand beaches and with large tracts still cloaked in dense tropical jungle, Phu Quoc rapidly morphed from a sleepy island backwater to a must-visit beach escape for Western expats and sun-seeking tourists. Beyond the resorts lining Long Beach and development beginning on the east coast, there's still ample room for exploration and escaping. Dive the reefs, kayak in the bays, eat up the back-road kilometres on a motorbike, or just lounge on the beach, indulge in a massage and dine on fresh seafood.
Phu Quoc is not really part of the Mekong Delta and doesn’t share the delta’s extraordinary ability to produce rice. The most valuable crop is black pepper, but the islanders here have traditionally earned their living from the sea. Phu Quoc is also famed across Vietnam for its production of high-quality fish sauce. Phu Quoc island is beautiful and it’s the perfect place to relax.
Tumblr media
 TRANSPORT in Phu Quoc:
I deeply suggest you to rent a scooter. It’s easy, cheap and in 1 hour you can visit the entire island.
Tumblr media
WHAT TO SEE/ WHERE TO EAT in Phu Quoc:
Nha Ghe Phu Quoc Crab House
At this crustacean sensation you won't be crabby once you get your claws into the likes of soft-shell crab with green-peppercorn salsa, com ghe (jasmine rice with crab meat and fish sauce)
Tumblr media
Mango Bay Restaurant
One of the best eating experiences around is to sit on the deck at Mango Bay, dining on tamarind blue-swimmer crab and peering out to sea. There are Australian beef steaks, honey duck breast and lots of Thai flavor.
Spice House at Cassia Cottage
Nab a beachside high table, order a papaya salad, grilled garlic prawns, cinnamon-infused okra, a delectable fish curry or grilled beef skewers wrapped in betel leaves and time dinner to catch the sunset at this etc…
Le Bar
With its gorgeous tiled floor, art deco furniture and colonial charms, this highly elegant and well-poised upstairs lounge-bar at La Veranda is a superb spot for a terrace sundowner.
Dinh Cau Night Market
The most atmospheric place to dine on the island, Duong Dong’s night market has around a dozen stalls serving a delicious range of Vietnamese seafood, grills and vegetarian options.
It’s also the perfect place for buying souvenirs. Pearls are cheap and the sea surrounding the island is full of them.
An Thoi Islands
Just off the southern tip of Phu Quoc, these 15 islands and islets can be visited by chartered boat. It’s a fine area for sightseeing, fishing, swimming and snorkelling.
Rory's Beach Bar
Phu Quoc's liveliest and most fun beach bar draws a steady torrent of travellers and island residents down the path to its seaside perch.
Fish Sauce Factory
The distillery of Nuoc Mam Hung Thanh is the largest of Phu Quoc’s fish-sauce makers, a short walk from the market in Duong Dong.
Winston's Burgers & Beer
The name says it all: this bar is all about (really good) burgers, beer and a large selection of cocktails, mixed by the eponymous Winston.
*Phu Quoc prison
Being a prison built by the French colonialist to imprison Vietnamese people which was known as Coconut Tree Prison, in 1967, Saigon Government rebuilt the Coconut Tree Prison into Phu Quoc communist prisoner prison in an area of 400ha, also known as Phu Quoc war prisoner prison, or Phu Quoc prison. This was the largest place to keep communist soldiers in the South with more than 32,000 prisoners. Sometimes, this number was up to 40,000 people including political prisoners in several periods.
WHERE to STAY in Phu Quoc:
We stayed at Sol Beach House. In my opinion it’s the best resort of the island.
Tumblr media
Even if it rains, there is a plenty of facilities/ to do-activities inside.
Thans to my handsome boyfriend, soulmate and perfect travelling companion <3
