day five of twelve days of rina: favorite episodes 🤩

I’m doing one from each season because I’m like that and can’t choose

season one: episode five - homecoming

homecoming is obviously one of the most important and essential episodes to rina’s storyline. This is where they all got started, this is when they really started to shine, and obviously without this episode there really wouldn’t be a rina. their chemistry was off the charts in this episode and honestly going back and seeing how genuine they are with each other and how they can be so fresh and just honest with each other; man it really is something else. rini never held a candle to rina, looking back on it. They never stood a chance. “I thought we sort of, like, got each other” and “You know I meant what I said. at the skate park, about you having your own style. I don't even think I knew how much I meant it when I said it.” like dude. monumental. Already these two characters are having such a profound effect on each other and it’s been only a couple of months. AND THE CHEEK KISS. THE FREAKING CHEEK KISS. because for me, rina was never really a thought in my mind until that kiss. Until Gina showed me that she was opening up her hard heart to the brown curly haired boy with the great voice and sass for days. until Ricky showed me he wasn’t opposed to it. until their chemistry was so off the charts I was blown away.

season two: episode four - the quincenero

okay, hear me out, this episode is actually pretty important to rina. There’s a ton of character growth from Gina specifically. obviously there are other moments but I really do like the moment where Ricky comes to Gina for advice about nini and she says that maybe they shouldn’t give advice to each other and she’s not nini. which I think is a beautiful parallel, looking back on it, to when Ricky didn’t try and convince Gina to stay in slc and not do the movie because he’d already had an experience with nini where he did tell her that and she completely fumbled and freaked out. which, understandable, whatever. That’s her. But the thing is, that’s what gina wants. Gina wants to be set apart from nini, Gina is completely different from nini and in this episode she’s trying to tell him that (which she’s right, bc nini did not like it at all when Ricky revealed he’d talked to miss Jenn about getting nini in the show, but the fact remains is that Gina said she’d be flattered but said “I’m not nini and we’re not dating” to try and tell Ricky that maybe that’s not what nini wants). Gina is telling him that the things that work for her are not going to work for nini because they are two different people and their relationships - both romantic and platonic, current and future - are entirely different. which is so profound and beautiful when you compare that to Ricky’s aversion of change and you see how nini and Ricky’s relationship began to fail because Ricky was using things Gina had told him all along. which is kind of emotional cheating but wtv. anyways, the fact that Ricky was dating the person he was “most comfortable with” but using the girl who represents change’s advice is something I just love. And I’m sure I’m not explaining it well, so if anyone sees this and wants to add/explain better pls do.

season three: episode five - the real campers of shallow lake

okay I absolutely love this episode and not just because of the rina content. everything about the drama between Maddox and jet to portwell drama to Ashlyn and Val and obviously Ricky angst and feisty gina makes this episode so 💋 but obviously, I’m here to talk about the what do you know about love duet. Which Ricky/josh and Gina/sofia ABSOLUTELY SLAPPED and I gave them a standing ovation as soon as it was finished. because this was EVERYTHING. Kourtney’s clear approval, Val’s interpretation of the whole thing, their freaking history, Carlos’s encouragement, ej’s uncomfortableness, it’s all perfection. their playful banter, their voices, this being their first duet, ugh it does things to me. And the fact that it really does represent gina as anna and Ricky as Kristoff seeing that Gina is in a brand new relationship and thinks everything is rainbows and butterflies while Ricky, who has only experienced love where he has to work for the other person and strive to make things work instead of it being more effortless and easy (as rina are later) is amazing and beautiful. I could explain this more later but I don’t want to run out of room so if you want to know more, lmk. and also the “rebound” afterwards where RICKY APOLOGIZES FOR HIS INTENSITY KNOWING GI WAS EQUALLY AS INTENSE because he knows something is up with ej. but he wants to be there for gi. He wants her first relationship to go well, and he defends her to ej as well telling him that she’s just tired and coming down from the rehearsal. watch out world, Ricky Bowen will defend Gina Porter with his entire being.

season four: episode five - admissions

AGHHHHHHHHHH this episode lowkey might be my favorite of the entire series. but then again I loved every moment of every episode so I won’t say that. But this episode is MONUMENTAL for both Gina and Ricky and especially in their relationship. Gina finally opens up to her mom abt her and Ricky, Ricky opens up to ej about his fears and confronts his tendency to hide when things go wrong, and it all culminates in a beautiful second chance confession rain kiss spin hug. UGH, Tim, my FRICKIN HEART! I really do love the conversation between ej and Ricky because they truly are brothers and besties. ej truly helps Ricky so so much. And I could have a whole conversation about their conversation and all the ways it is beautiful but I won’t. Gina, meanwhile, is coming to the realization that Ricky is her inspiration and Ricky is the reason why she is happy. Ricky Bowen makes her the happiest she has ever been and it physically hurts her that her mother does not know this (it hurt me, as a viewer!) and the beautiful second chance playing as Ricky sees Mack and Gina and turns away~ it really shows that 02x12 really was about Gina all along, it was never about lilly. it was always Gina. nobody else ever stood a chance.

please share some of your thoughts on the repercussions of nini leaving!!

ok it's less repercussions and more like a bunch of thoughts lol but:

firstly, it was a bit random? like LA is where the music scene is but throughout season 2, the thing holding nini back was ricky (/his desire for control/stop change), not SLC in general. there was no point in time where she was like "i need to get out of this town." so her being like "i feel more free in LA!!!" felt a little off to me, because that wasn't really a sentiment she had shown before. but if olivia was leaving the show and couldn't commit any more time to s3, they did the best they could i guess.

it's extremely...weird that she didn't tell anyone she was leaving; miss jenn was the only one who knew she was even considering it! and she left before curtain, presumably without coming back to salt lake! idk if i were kourtney or ashlen or ricky, i would be a bit hurt by that lol. but also, the fact that she wasn't there but all of them still had so much success in the show (personally professionally etc) is also so telling. her arc was done; she changed and changed others over her two seasons. it was the right time for her to go.

the lottery card is my favorite thing that came out of her exit, because it really does symbolize ricky growing up. his first love, his oldest friend, quite literally helped him complete his childhood goals and move forward. he initially thought he didn't get one at all, only for jet (a "mini-ricky" in so many ways) to find it for him and gina (his "future") to tell him to open it. i also like that she apparently asked him to hand out cards for hsm3 opening night—glad that they're more in touch than just following each other on social media, and that he's really taken on her old role of being the heart of the program.

but, like i said, i wish she had given him and everyone else the cards personally and the og squad got one more night together. they left an open-ending for her so olivia could come back if she wanted to in s4, but it translated to less of an open-ending and more of like "that was it?"

(on the other hand, there is something poetic and final about her not seeing ricky open it. her being there may have dampened that effect a bit. in an ideal world, i guess she'd hand out cards personally but leave the lotto ticket in ricky's room for him to find afterward, his last gift of his birthday.) (but then gina wouldn't be the one to tell him to open it, which was also so important and symbolic) (so idk) (anyway)

gina and nini's juxtaposition throughout the show really came to a head at the end of season 2 (and throughout nini's exit). in many ways, they had opposite trajectories: nini was the lead for the first time and gained the confidence to believe in and fight fore huge success, which eventually led to her spreading her wings and moving away; gina needed to learn that she doesn't need to be front-and-center to have an impact, which eventually led to her putting down roots and making her own little family for the first time. and connecting the two of them is gina's brother, someone gina barely knows but who was such a catalyst for nini. it's also really interesting that jamie's offer is the reason nini leaves and what allows gina, slowly over the first two seasons but quickly in s3 and 4, to really take on a position as ricky's closest confidant (instead of nini). the whole love "square" between nini, ej, ricky, and gina is so fascinating because there are parallels in every direction; history repeats itself again and again with those four, but each time, different choices are made and different paths are taken, until, by the finale, everyone is exactly where they're supposed to be and it's hard to picture any other ending for any of them. and that started with nini taking that first leap and saying goodbye, before ej had the courage to, before ricky got over his fear of it, before gina even knew what was coming. that was the catalyst, whether or not anyone realized it or not.

summary: the one where ej and andy reunite after years when they're cast as love interests, finally rekindling their friendship and maybe getting something else out of it as well

After attempting to take High School Musical photos, the group waited in the theatre room. Carlos walked back in and they all sat around in the room.

"Okay people, lets start a stage number. I'm late," he said, laughing slightly.

"Is Miss Jenn coming?" Andy asked and Carlos sighed.

"Miss Jenn has a small personal matter to attend to and won't be her today," everyone went silent as he explained that, "Everythings fine," it didn't sound like it was fine

Carlos started staging everyone, putting all the boys on boxes, explaining his idea for Nini to wander through a forest of boys.

"I'm sorry, why?" Nini asked, looking around at the boys on the boxes.

Carlos sighed, "Because your heart has just been shattered and you can't stop thinking about how amazing Troy is," he explained.

Everyone seemed confused with the idea about the forest of boys, nobody quite understanding its purpose.

Seb started to play before Nini cut him off, "But at this point of the show, Troy just sold me out to his teammates," Nini said.

"Well she's got a point, what Troy did was kind of unforgivable " Ashlyn said and Andy nodded her head, agreeing with her.

"Respectfully Carlos, I think the last thing anyone wants in this moment is four more versions of him," Andy explained, backing Ashlyn up.

"Maybe she could chop down the trees," Natalie suggested, everyone nodded their heads.

"Or, what if she's surrounded by a forest of loving and supportive sisters," Kourtney said, the girls agreeing with her.

"This is not a democracy!" Carlos yelled out, silencing everyone.

"Carlos, are you okay? Because it's not that deep. We can all come back when Miss Jenn is here," Nini explained.

Carlos finally snapped, "Well she's not here and I don't know if she's ever coming back," he stated.

Everyone went silent. Nobody knew what to say and the shock was still going through the group.

"Is this a joke?" Andy asked, narrowing her eyes at Carlos in confusion.

"Shes in deep trouble you guys. They're saying that she lied on her job application and there's a school board meeting in less than 24 hours and she's probably going to lose her job," he explained.

Everyone started bickering, the whole show turning to shambles as people dissapeared left right and centre.

"I'm sorry Carlos," Andy said before turning away with Ashlyn, the two walking out of the rehearsal.

"Rehearsals are officially cancelled until further notice!" Carlos yelled out at the dissipating crowd.

They walked to their lockers, EJ dragging the two with him, "Where are we going right now?" Andy questioned.

"I wanna find Nini," he said, Andy kind of hoping he had already given up on her already.

"I don't think you're the person to comfort her right now,' Ashlyn agreed, "You're not her boyfriend anymore,"

Ashlyn knew about everything weird happening between EJ and Andy, the movie night, the bathroom, the dance, the strange drive home. Everything.

She already saw that he smiled more when he was with Andy then when he was with Nini and she didn't want him to throw it all away.

"Yeah I know," he stated before seeing her, "Nini! Can we talk?"

Nini rolled her eyes, not looking at him as she stood by her locker. "Uh right now?" She asked, trying to avoid talking to him.

Andy and Ashlyn stood at the back, almost like moral support for EJ who wasnt ready to get destroyed again by Nini.

"Yeah. Miss Jenn isn't the only one with secrets. I really need to get some stuff off my chest," he explained.

He sighed, "How much time do you have?" He questioned.

Ashlyn and Andy looked at each other, giving him a reassuring look before walking off to leave them alone.

They walked off, "My mums coming to pick us up, you think we should go ask Gina if she wants a ride home?" Andy asked.

"Yeah, maybe we could grab something to eat, have a mini girls afternoon," Ashlyn suggested and they agreed on it, walking to backstage.

When they got there, they saw Gina sitting on the call to her mum. They heard she wasn't going to be here for a while and Gina hung up with a frustrated sigh.

"Hey, uh, you want to come round mine this afternoon G?" Andy asked and she smiled at them.

"Really?" She asked, almost like it was some kind of practical joke.

"Yeah, girls afternoon, grab some fast food, it'll be fun," Ashlyn said and Gina stood up.

"Yeah, okay, that sounds great,' Gina said with a grin on her face as the three walked out.

That night, Big Red, Ricky and Andy sat in Big Reds basement, not knowing what to do with themselves.

It was strange to not be spending all their time at rehearsals. They'd been spending less time at the skate park and in all honesty, less time together.

Ever since Ricky had begun obsessing over getting Nini back, he had stopped spending as much time with the two of them.

"Its weird, not being at rehearsal," Ricky said, "How stupid is that,"

"What if we just did the show without her," Big Red suggested.

"We can't even take a picture without her," Andy said, leaning back on the chair in defeat.

She had always been a theatre kid, it was part of her DNA and now to be without the show, it just felt wrong.

Someone rang the doorbell, the three looking at the stairs, "Down here Kaden!" Big Red called out.

"Kaden? Andy questioned, wondering why someone from their drama club was here.

"Hope its cool, I invited Steph and Rico," Kaden said, walking down Rickys stairs.

"Whats up guys?" Ricky asked, confused as to why they were here but still trying to be polite.

"I reached out to some peeps, I wanted some company tonight," Big Red explained, Andy nodding her head.

Ashlyn walked downstairs, "Okay, how many people are coming?" Ricky asked.

Andy walked over to Ashlyn. It was weird, having two separate halves of her lives in one place.

More people came down, Gina, EJ, Nini, Seb, until the whole drama club was awkwardly sitting in Rickys basement.

"This is a terrible party, there aren't even pretzels," Natalie said as the silence became more awkward.

Nobody knew what to say. Miss Jenn was the glue of the group and they couldn't figure out how to do this without her.

Ashlyn sat on the couch between EJ and Andy, watching the scene unfold, "We all ended up here after a really bad day so someone should say something," she said.

"Fine, I'll say something," Carlos said, standing up, "I'm mad at Miss Jenn because she's giving up. She was the first teacher to see me as me and now she's not even a real teacher?"

"Define real teacher," Andy said, everyone starting to bicker.

"So why are we all here then?" Natalie asked, everyone nodding in agreement.

"Yeah, good question. This is a waste of time," EJ said, everyone staying silent.

"Honestly? Because she gave me a shot, and its been a long time since someone gave me a shot," Carlos explained.

"Well nobodys going to see anything because Miss Jenn screwed up," Kourtney said, Ashlyn scoffing at the suggestion.

"Okay, but does anyone here actually care if her past is a little bit sketchy?" Ashlyn asked, everyone staying silent.

"I do. Because she put our show in jeopardy and now we're all here, maybe for the last time, together. And for some of us, this had become-" he got so chocked up, Nini finished his sentence for him, "-family"

"What team?" Ricky asked, his voice breaking from being so emotional.

"Wildcats," everyone said at the same time, Andy smiling to herself about it.

"Okay then wildcats. What are we doing about it?" Ashlyn asked and Carlos suggested a plan.

A plan that consisted of staying up all night and choreographing a dance to prove why Miss Jenn shouldn't leave.

They sat in the board meeting, waiting for the music to start. Everyone turned and watched as the drama club stood up.

Miss Jenn turned around, looking at them confused as they performed the song.

The board members seemed to like the dance, the drama club singing along to the music.

As they finished, they bring Miss Jenn to the middle of the room, tears in her eyes from realising the students cared so much.

A bunch of parents stood up, Andy catching her Uncle James cheering from the crowd.

He was always very vocal and he knew how much this show meant to his niece so he wasn't going to ruin it for them.

"Settle people!" Their principle yelled out, "Do we have any further questions?"

"Just one," a teacher asked, standing up, "How do I snag two tickets to opening might?"

They all hugged each other, proud that they had done this. "That was great," EJ said to Andy as he pulled her into a hug.

"It really was," she replied, a huge grin on both of their faces as they looked at each other.

For some reason, EJ couldn't take his eyes off of her, his heart pounding. Andy felt the same but she pulled away when she saw Nini staring at them.

She walked away but turned back to look at EJ again. His gaze darted away from hers.

"This meeting is adjourned!" Gutierrez called out as everyone applauded their work.

The two teenagers walked their separate ways, knowing that whatever had nearly happened shouldn't have.

HSMTMTS CAST Q&A with J-14

J-14: What are you most excited for fans to see this season? DARA RENEE: I am most excited for the supporters to see Kourtney’s journey through senior year! Not only has her fashion sense skyrocketed, but her stage presence and comedy is on another level! FRANKIE A. RODRIGUEZ: We got some OGs from the High School Musical universe! Seeing them all together is really exciting. SOFIA WYLIE: The new characters, the returning original cast members and the new musical performances! JULIA LESTER: We really go back to our roots this season with all of the friends that return. I think every season just gets more meta as the show goes on, and this season does, for sure. It's like we have broken the metaverse!

J-14: How do you think your character has changed most since season one?

DR: Kourtney Greene has changed drastically throughout the seasons. From starting on the sidelines, to now stepping into the spotlight has been such an extraordinary experience! Seeing Kourtney inspire others by owning her power has warmed my heart and soul to the highest degree! FAR: When we first met Carlos, he was more comfortable being an assistant to Miss Jenn and blending into the sidelines. Over the course of the last few seasons he's really stepped into his star power. SW: I think Gina has changed tremendously from season one to season four! She definitely entered East High with a very strong, powerful and competitive energy. Now, I think she's able to be more vulnerable and show the softer sides of herself. JL: I think the biggest change was Ashlyn's queer storyline that develops during season three. And, as a queer person myself, once you have your coming out moment, the world opens up for you. So, I'm really excited for people to see where she is in season four, and how she's coming back off of this incredible summer camp experience where she learned so much about herself.

J-14: We're so sad to say goodbye to these characters! What will you miss most about being a part of this show? DR: I'lI miss being able to hang out with the cast and crew every day. They truly have become family and I'm so grateful to know such extraordinary people. Also, being a theater kid, I'll miss putting on some of my favorite shows, because that was truly a dream come true! FAR: The people! We have so many amazing people who help bring the show to life - both on screen and off. I'll miss going to work every day and laughing with some of the funniest people I've ever met. SW: I've met some of my closest and most cherished friends in this cast. Getting to see them every day was such a privilege that I know will be looked back upon so fondly. I also have loved exploring the character of Gina and I'll miss her a lot. JL: Truly, behind the scenes, they're my favorite people in the world and we have the most incredible time together. I will definitely miss working with them a lot.

J-14: If you had to pick one musical number that was the most meanIngful to you out of all four seasons, which one would it be and why? DR: It's actually a three-way tie! "Born To Be Brave" was the first song that I ever sang for the show, and the lyrics have stuck with me to this day. I also got to sing it with one of my favorite queens, Olivia Rodrigo. "Here I Come" was my first-ever original song that I wrote for the show - it talks about my experience with anxiety and being a perfectionist. Number three is a song that has not been heard yet from season four, but has motivated me to jump into new waters and explore new adventures! FAR: "Born To Be Brave" from season one really stands out to me. I really loved everything about that moment: The message, the story and how it all came together. SW: Getting to perform "Were All in This Together" in season one was a "pinch me" moment, for sure. Oh, and I know this is two, but I loved getting to perform "A Different Way to Dance" with Corbin Bleu. The whole time we were filming l just wanted to cry tears of pure joy. JL: "Be Our Guest." Ashlyn as Belle was such a huge thing for her and such a huge thing for me. Also, "1-2-3" from season two.Getting to be in a girl group with Dara and Sofia was, like, top five best moments of my whole life.

J-14: If all the characters returned one day for a 10-year high school reunion, where do you think yours would be in life? DR: Kourtney would most definitely be highly influential and very successful! She would have a few businesses up her sleeve, plus a reality show or two, and maybe a lil’ boo thang ... if that could fit into her schedule! FAR: Carlos will most likely be in a one-man show on Broadway that he wrote, directed and choreographed. SW: I think Gina would either be the CEO of a huge corporation, a movie star, or a touring choreographer! She has so many passions and she's so ambitious. I think she could do anything she wanted. JL: I definitely know where Ashlyn wants to be - she wants to be on Broadway. I see her in, like, a beautiful queer relationship. And hopefully, starring in her favorite show, maybe being Belle in the revival of Beauty and the Beast!

live reaction 3x08 part 1

Starting off strong with some Jetwen and Caswen content okay

Oh no Big Red this is so awkward oh my stars

Ricky hasn’t even read the whole show?? What the heck?? Like, I’ve been trying to give him somewhat of a pass because even though he doesn’t have as much responsibility as EJ, he has some responsibility as the lead, but the fact that he hasn’t even read the show…like I get they only have two weeks to perform it but the least you could do is take the time to read the whole script. This just goes to show how little everyone is doing in comparison to EJ and once again this is not fair at all. Especially since EJ and Ricky are the same age now you can’t even say EJ “deserves” it because he’s older (which is also such a fricked up thing to say in the first place)

Having Emmy (I think that’s her name) sing the beginning of this is real…I have no investment in this child she’s barely been in this season lol. Okay I think it somewhat makes sense but still

Ahh everyone looks so good in their costumes

Oh this is the first time we’ve seen Jet in his costume. I wonder if we’ll get to hear him sing Hans of the Southern Isles. I hope so but like I also hope we get to hear Monster and Dangerous to Dream and so many other songs from the musical, at least clips of them. That’s the thing about having original songs and camp rock songs and high school musical songs in one season; we barely get any from each which is sad. But we’re getting Kristoff’s Lullaby!! I’m excited

“Your boyfriend is adorable” “So’s Madison” oh we all see what’s happening here oh my stars

The funny thing about Channing making them do things differently than how they rehearsed is that’s exactly what Miss Jenn did with Beauty and the Beast

“Elton!!” every time someone calls him Elton I’m living for it

“You sure?” Ricky shut the frick up EJ is the one making everything happen so you’re not allowed to have opinions sorry

Ricky and Jet fist bump stars I wish they could have been explored (I know it was ever going to happen before someone comes at me they’re just a dearly loved crackship okay)

Gina!! The way she’s looking at EJ with so much concern like my heart’s breaking

NINI!!! MY LOVE YOU’RE BACK!!!!!!!

I know Nini has to leave bc Olivia’s leaving but I hate it and it’s sad because it doesn’t really make sense since we already saw her leave then realise her home is with the Wildcats

She’s not going to be at the campfire and it’s going to hurt so much

I really appreciate the “these things don’t go away in a night” comment because in a lot of shows like this they would. They would sing a song or be like wow I was brave! And then their mental health is great when that’s not really how it works

I just wish we got similar attention paid to EJ and his anxiety. The fact that he’s directing the show tonight and we don’t get to see how he’s doing or have conversations with him

Is Big Red about to reveal he’s gay

I LOVE that Kourtney is getting this screen time and actual care given to her story and this anxiety plotline is being handled SO WELL I love this. Kourtney <333333

NOOO Big Red what’s going on I really thought he was about to say “at the pizza shop I met a boy” or something not that his parents met at their age

Ah that was kind of sweet this is sad

Her going in for a hug instead of a kiss. “I’ve never been better” when she means at camp without him is like Nancy saying she was glad Jon wasn’t there

KOURTNEY!! She looks AMAZING AND SHE SOUNDS SO GOOD THIS IS HER MOMENT. Her voice fits this song SO WELL chills

The wildcat fam smiling at her backstage because they’re all like heck yeah that’s our talented sister we love her. Like the growth from season 1 when she had to go onstage last minute to now she’s one of the leads and she’s killing it I love her I love this

Channing you’re funny but go away go away don’t do anything to Kourt’s performance

Ok so finale thoughts

As a caswen shipper, I loved the breadcrumbs but not the ending for them. But EJ and Ricky being at the point of “you’re my brother” is nice.

I don’t really like rina. I’m sorry. I can see the buildup but there is so much more sexual tension between Ricky and EJ.

I love that nini came back for the finale and I wasn’t expecting her to help Ricky complete his bucket list but love it. She’ll always have a place in his heart.

I wish we had a moment between EJ and nini but whatever.

I hate the lack of Val in this whole season but especially this episode.

Big red showing up definitely made me excited.

Why do they give EJ ridiculous costumes and don’t let me see him perform in them? At least they didn’t make him wear it till the curtain call.

Kourt killed let it go and the flashlights was a great season 1 callback

Ashlyn should’ve told big red but he should’ve too omg that was so surprising.

Hi, I'm back with another essay 😂

I've had a busy week at work and I thank the heavens it is Friday because I need to just sit and stare at a wall for a while and decompress 😂 Also, my week's been fully thrown off since Monday as I did not sleep at all that night so I've been all over the place. HOWEVER, it's been a fairly alright week!

I thought I'd send in an ask to mainly talk video games because Dragon Age, ME AND Baldur's Gate? Especially ME?! I don't get to talk about ME enough!

Okay, so I have to admit that for most of the game, my party was Shadowheart, Karlach and the gith chick, Lae'zel, that you don't like 😂 And I have to admit that at first I was on the fence about her, but she quickly grew on me and even more so as the story progressed. Larian Studios gave each of their characters a great background and amazing personalities. And majority of them have great character progression as the game progresses, imo! (there's some things that happen in that game that I cannot comment about yet, but honestly, Larian Studios are creative geniuses lol)

In regards to Lae'zel, I will definitely want to hear more of your thoughts as you progress through the game!

Also, I cackled at the fact you restarted the game because you found out you missed Gale! 😂 I have to admit though - I would absolutely do the same! Let me know what you decide on him, because I went through the whole game and my opinion about him didn't change 😂

How are you finding the game so far? What do you think of the story and the characters you encountered? Both, the characters you can have in your party and NPC's? Have you tried to speak with any animals yet? 😂

Coming up to Dragon Age and Mass Effect… It's been years since I touched a Dragon Age game, but I remember the first and second games fondly. But Mass Effect… Oh boy, haha. I played the games… I don't even know how many times. ME2 still to this day holds a special part in my heart so when they announced an ME Legendary Edition with all three games reworked, all shiny and pretty?? You bet I got them and played through all three games :D And it felt like playing them for the first time again. Also, Garrus? Yes, please!

Have to admit, I was disappointed at the ending on ME3, both because of the ending they gave Commander Shepard and also because the ending that they originally came out with was… a flop and unsatisfying, though they gave longer endings after a patch because of fan disappointment. And I will forever think that the "secret ending" of Commander Shepard's N7 logo in those ruins actually means they aren't dead (there should also be a new ME game???! And they showed Liara in the trailer??!).

The universe that ME has, with the story and characters is just absolutely mind blowing and those games are beautiful ❤ And personally, I look for games that have a rich and deep story so the fact that we are talking about DA, ME and Baldur's Gate right now? My heart is singing and I am just all warm and happy haha

Another one of my favourites is Witcher 3. AND it was a fave before Henry Cavill became a live action Geralt 😂 I spent a lot of hours on that game... One could even say too many, but if anyone does - they're wrong 😂

But of course, I have to take a moment and scream about "Violent Delights", because excuse me? Where has Enishi Yukishiro been and why have I not seen him?? 👀 I know what I'm watching over the weekend lol I need to find time to go through your whole master list because your writing is like nourishment and it does unexplainable things to me!

And that sneak peek for chapter 7..? Oh fuck. These two petty fools will be the end of me 😂

Right now Karlach is still currently my fav! Her character is just so FUN. She has such a good attitude, and she is definitely the type of person I would want in a real-life crew. I’m torn on the love interest part of it because like…so far I like none of them lol. Astarion is in the lead, but barely, just because he’s a vampire and I’m a whore for love bites 😈 lol but I have noticed that he does have these soft moments through the indifference he conveys. He’s just different from who I usually pick in games. Although, in Cyberpunk I picked Judy but if I could’ve picked Johnny (absolutely LOVE Keanu) I would’ve lol. I love broody men.

I agree with you on ME3!! I’m so glad they went back and added more to it. I think it allowed a lot of us to get the closer we needed when it came to our Commander Shepherds. And yeah, if you chose the destroy option, they hinted that he/she was still alive, but I could never choose that one. I’m such a paragon lol I wanted everyone to get along and if my character had to sacrifice herself to do it, I did it every time (I can’t do that to Eve) 😩😩 except the one time to see if the destroy ending was worth it. I won’t hold my breath about the new DA and ME trailers they showcased a couple years ago, because Andromeda was not a fav lol. I think trying to bring in a new character to take over for shepherd is going to be incredibly hard, but I am interested to see if the continue with the storyline of inquisition for DA!

Baldur’s Gate 3 is just such a breathe of fresh air because I’m such a whore for a good storyline. I LOVE them. It makes it so much more immersive and makes you care about the outcomes of those in your party and your character. Witcher 3 was sooooo good at that too!

I’m still waiting to replay Cyberpunk 2077 from the beginning because of the Sons of Liberty DLC. I’ve heard amazing things about it, and I’m hyped but I got 2 weeks left of Uni work and then I graduate and I’m DONE! I’m so ready lol 🤣🤣

Idk how I feel about this ending. Obviously I loooooved Ashlyn and Big Red having their heart to heart and Biggie coming out was EVERYTHING, but beyond that, I just don’t know.

Maybe I’m just being cynical, but I don’t love the way most of the relationships this season were handled. I personally had no opinion as to whether I wanted Rina or Portwell to end up together. I will admit this ending made more sense with how the season was playing out, but I just didn’t love the way that EJ had to be hurt so badly, and put through so much shit, for it to happen.

As far as the documentary ending goes, I really, really, REALLY hope they don’t carry over any of the storylines created by the editing of the documentary. Like the whole thing with Jet was super weird and random. Also they tried to make Carlos look like a cheater, which I hated. Everyone knows he would never cheat on Seb and I really don’t want this weird narrative to carry over into the next season, because I kind of really hated it.

The last thing I will say on this season finale is: I’m really glad that Nini chose to leave. It obviously stems from Olivia becoming a big star and wanting to focus on her singing career, which it great! But I’m also glad we will get to focus on all these other amazing characters in an actual full length season, instead of dealing with Rini drama AGAIN.

All in all this season was pretty mid for me personally. I didn’t hate it, but it is probably my least favorite season so far. The entire thing felt like filler for the series, as a way to write out Olivia and bring attention towards the other people. But they also left out 3 main people for most of the episodes (Miss. Jenn, Big Red and Seb) which made it feel off. On a side note, where the hell was Mr. Mazzara?? Also the entire timeline of this season was so weird to me. The 1st and 2nd seasons take place over, approximately, 4 and a half months, and this was over 2 weeks and it felt more rushed than either of the other seasons did.

So yeah, those are my thoughts on this season and it’s finale. I’m just looking forward to season 4 and everything going back to relative normalcy (please god). Remember this is all my personal take, if you feel differently about anything I said, that’s fine!

Here is Ashlyn’s! :)

Favorite thing about them: So this might sound a little like Kourtney’s, but I promise I see them as two very distinct characters. I really love Ashlyn’s ability to unapologetically be herself. She knows herself inside and out and is so willing to go the extra mile if it is for the sake of authenticity. Integrity seems to be a common theme for her throughout the seasons. Kourtney is more about self-discovery whereas Ashlyn is more about knowing who she is already and not letting outside sources shock that system.

Least favorite thing about them: I know a lot of people were “bugged” by her season 3 but honestly she didn’t really bother me. The only time I remember getting frustrated with her was in s2 when Gina was obviously going through something and she had that line “it’s not that serious”. I have heard other people say this before and it is so invalidating. Nothing irks me more than someone thinking because they’re fine, everyone else should be too. Even writing about it now gets me heated 😂

Favorite line(s):

Something I expect from them season 4 (if applicable): I talked about this before, but I very much could see the show going in a “Ashlyn accepting herself/queerness” s4 type of vibe. I think she and Red could break up so she discovers herself, but Maddox takes that as Ashlyn wanting to get with her. So Ashlyn is like “I meant time for myself… play the field ya know” but the whole season ends up being Ashlyn not being good at playing the field and Maddox pining/always being there for her. So then the last episode we either get Madlyn endgame or Ashlyn accepting herself/pursuing single life and hinting towards a future of them as endgame.

Random Headcanon: When Ashlyn comes back from CSL, she tells Red that she’s queer and then they spend the majority of their time checking out boys and girls together (with Red’s uncanny lip reading)

Unpopular Opinion: I love Redlyn and Madlyn equally. I think they both could be good endgames and I would have been happy with the show going either way.

Song I associate with them: “Home” from Beauty and the Beast. I know it’s technically in the show, but I was listening to a Broadway version of it and all I could think of was Ashlyn Caswell. That performance could have won Emmy’s it was so well done. I sob in that scene every time (especially her just hugging Gina without any words, but those unspoken words were enough to redeem their relationship… TEARS)

I WATCHED IT! And I remember vivid how you were one of the only rinas with hope after the mess of 2x12 WE DID IT! At first I had mixed feelings to be 100% honest but after read the interviews I feel at peace. How do you feel?

oooh tell me more about the mixed feelings!!!

overall, it's my second favorite episode of the season (3x5 forever number 1 in my heart), but the kiss scene is definitely my favorite scene of the whole show. it was just so damn beautiful. Gina's speech? Ricky's expression? boy couldn't believe his luck. the damn ORCHESTRA that begun to play like a breathe of fresh air because finally, FINALLY they're on the same page?? that was their fireworks exploding for the 10th time this season.

Rina this season was just IT. there's no denying their chemistry, their feelings, how WELL they work together. and, given the interviews, they're here to stay. their troyella era is coming!!!!!!

i would make a few changes in the episode, though. Emmy's solo was beautiful, and she's definitely coming back to season 4, but i would totally give "This is me" to Kourt before the play, maybe make her conversation with Alex happen a bit earlier, given that we've been following Kourt's storyline for longer, and she deserves all the solos.

i also wanted to see Kourt and Gina singing together as Elsa and Anna! just a small bit, could be like 30 seconds of "For the first time in forever (reprise)", idk. i understand Gina's solos happened before the finale because her storyline this season parallels Anna's, but ughhhhhh i wanted a hour-long episode jsjdkskdks

ALSO, a tiny bit of "Fixer upper", after Ricky almost punched Channing (as he should), right before "Kristoff's Lullaby". And after "Kristoff's Lullaby" i wanted to see Olaf's dialogue of "love is putting someone else's needs above your own", because we KNOW this whole section of the play was the moment it hit for Gina that she never got over Ricky, and that he's been there the whole time for her because he feels the same. don't get me wrong, i LOVED how it happened during Kristoff's Lullaby, but we can always wish for more, no? 🥹 (I'll have to write a fanfic about it)

and that's literally it??? i have no other additions. OH, NO, i would also bring Seb back, what the hell, the dance was the previous night hahahahah

i cried my eyes out during Nini's last scenes. it was such a beautiful goodbye, even though she only saw Kourt and Miss Jenn, feels like a full circle (a callback to 1x5, even, with "Born to be brave" playing in the background). her closure with Ricky, helping him finish his bucket list, and now they can grow up in separate ways as good friends. (although I'm sus... how did she know this was the last remaining item? and Gina's face watching him? chocolate truthers are you with me? okay now I'm being delusional perhaps. OR NOT.)

also: the queerness this season. absolutely GOLD. Carlos, Seb, Maddox and Madison are very clear, and then we have Ash, Big Red and Ricky (yes, RICKY, don't fight me on this). How delicately they dealt with Ash's coming out, without relying on the "cheating" plot twist, so associated with bisexuality. she's dating someone, but she also has a crush on other people, and that's okay. she's not acting on it. she's just feeling it, and she still loves her boyfriend. her face when she said "I'll call big red" was just so !"?'!!$!'!"!$ like she's so happy they're on the same boat.

Big Red coming out publicly almost like an afterthought, almost like he thought all his friends and girlfriend already knew it!!!! this was so personal to me!!!!! and then we have a bi-coded Ricky, with actions and words that tell the audience what we need to know without having to spell out "I'm bi".

not everyone is gonna have a big coming out moment. a bi person doesn't need to date someone of the same sex to validate their queerness. of course, do we want that? hell yes, i am totally on board for Ash x Maddox, for example. but this season, I'm so glad they were able to explore the characters' sexuality and still keep their romance intact, no cheating, no heartbreak, just happiness to discover something about themselves that's shared with the other. save the drama for the next season!!!

also, even though his stans are whining about it, i LOVED EJs plot this season. he finally got a compelling storyline. and yeah, it was painful to see him in pain, but also it was something so personal to me, because i relate to him A LOT. perfectionist, doesn't want to burden anyone, snaps at people when overwhelmed, would totally deny help if someone offers, and it's incapable of asking for it because feels like he has to deal with everything alone? yup. YUP. that's the syndrome of the "perfect child" right there. i might elaborate this later, though. it's long. (ps: i can't wait to see what the success of this documentary will do to him. hopefully make him richer than daddy.)

OOF THAT WAS LONG, SORRY ANON. i hope you loved this episode and season as much as I did. and the hope we've been harboring for Rina since 2019??? it paid off. now it's our moment!!!!!!! WE SHALL THRIVE.

sure, but only if you guys start telling T*m he needs to hire me or that he owes me royalties! I mean, I’ve been saying as much for *quite* some time now. Note those timestamps there 🥰

I fully endorse the harrassment of T*m Federle for whatever reason. Until he can come forward and address and disprove the allegations that have been sitting against him since 2020 (!!!!), I have no problem sending my tiny ass legion of tumblr followers against him. Now, on with the show.

So I'd like to preface this by saying that I do enjoy Kowie. Like, so much that sometime last year I earned myself a special "CEO of Kowie" role in the Wildcats discord. but i think with how much i also love jetney it's just that i love Kourtney Greene and i love when people give her love.

I think a lot of people don't like Roman for whatever reason, I didn't have twitter until far after s2 had finished airing so if there was drama I wasn't present for it. But his IICLH is magical and I do think that Howie genuinely wanted to be with Kourtney- he made mistakes, as a sixteen-year-old boy is wont to do, and he was caught up in the fiery hell of Zacky Roy and Lily Whatsername's Brigade of Evil, and his shadiness in the s2 finale could lend itself to some suspicion on his part.

However, I also really enjoy Jetney. The thing is I also enjoy Jetwen. There is room for all of these things in my perfect HSMTMTS. I just think that brooding, emo Jet is so full of love that he has not let himself share for so long, that when he finally opens up to himself he realizes oopsie, he kinda likes both Ricky and Kourtney! even better, it's right around the time when Ricky and Kourtney have reconciled and become besties again! that's a whole thing with jet. but it bleeds into kourtney's s4 arc, so i thought i'd mention it.

So when we left Kourtney at the end of MY s3, she was full of confusion upon seeing Howie for the first time since she left for camp. I haven't decided yet whether or not the documentary would've been released to the general public yet, but the trailer certainly had, so no matter what she knows that Howie has watched another man profess their love for his girlfriend on national television.

And Howie is... weirdly not bothered by it. He says it scared him a little at first, but he trusts her- and reality TV is all too keen to force things and feed actors lines, so he's not really worried. Kourtney, however, is, because as much as she'd like to agree that it was all for the cameras, there's a very real part of her that does like Jet, and as much as she wants to get rid of it she can't.

So another thing- Nini doesn't move to California. I know this was done in the show because Olivia's schedule didn't work for her to keep being main cast, but this is my perfect fantasy world and I get to keep my ninikins, okay? She left camp early due to her growing lesbianism to record some demos with Jamie in LA, and as s4 starts she's back in Salt Lake waiting for something to come of them.

Sometime in the first episode, Nini and Kourtney are hanging out and Nini reveals that she's written a song inspired by the whole documentary situation, mainly about how she knows her friends hearts despite the editing making them look like entirely different people. They sing it as a duet. Kourtney talks about her Boy ProblemsTM. There's a funny comment about how this time last year the roles were completely reversed. Nini insists that there's lots of other things to worry about and at least Howie is at North and Jet is all the way in Texas, so she won't have to worry about them during their Best Senior Year Ever.

Cut to the first day of school, and Kourtney, Nini, Ricky, and Big Red are all united as a front, and guess who's sitting in Miss Jenn's sixth period Drama II class? Our good buddy, Jet Lastname (i gave them the last name Grey). Kourtney and Ricky are both red in the face all throughout class. Nini and Big Red find this hilarious.

So in my world, HSMTMTS lasts five seasons, ending with the older four graduating. And with that, I want to save HSM3 for the last season. So, s4 will be The Little Mermaid! I really wanted them to be building up to Kourtney and Carlos as Ariel and Eric with Kourtney having her TLM playbill and Carlos wanting to play a human character and if this is my hsmtmts, that means i get what i want, and what i want is Carlos and Kourtney front and center like they deserve. i also want to include songs that didn’t get used from the other shows they’ve done. I feel like I deserve that.

I think that Jet would meet Howie randomly when he and Maddox go to Slices or something, and eventually realizes that he's Kourtney's boyfriend and has a moment.

the Kowie breakup would hurt me unless it was completely amicable. a few episodes into the season, they realize that they're just not working as a romantic couple and would prefer to just be friends. I can't handle a angsty kowie breakup that would devastate Kourtney or destroy Howie's character, I'm sorry. Maybe Howie can get with Big Red idk if i want to keep redlyn or go with madlyn or not!!!

So there's not really a Jet-Kourtney-Ricky love triangle because there's not anger or people being really aware of it- in fact, Jet's a little bit clueless, but Ricky and Kourtney both think that the other likes Jet so they're like "ok i'll keep quiet cause I don't want to make the other person angry" and then eventually they're acting so weird around each other that the four seniors are all in big red's basement late at night and they're super high loopy from lack of sleep and they admit to each other what they've been doing and they all laugh about it and Nini and Big Red are like "wow you guys are not very smart".

The east high friend group is very fruity

But over the course of the season I think Ricky would get over Jet or decide to be single for a considerable amount of time or whatever and actively encourage Kourtney to go after Jet as a contrast to like. Pained helping others to ignore his own problems like he's done before, y'know? Carlos is like "ricky is this another in a heartbeat" but it's not, it's genuine growth and finding happiness in himself before trying to get it from a partner. Ricky and Kourtney also become therapy buddies btw

And if Jetney gets together in s4 it would be closer to the end. I envision Gina (who is Sebastian) leading the kids in a dream sequence-esque performance of "Kiss the Girl" and everyone is like, goading them together, but they decide to take things on their own terms without any meddling from their friends.

So beyond the Jetney of it all, Kourtney tells her mom that she wants a proper therapist and we see her actually getting that in s4, talking about her anxieties and why she always situates herself behind her friends rather than letting herself come into her own. Someone asks her if she's seen all of the support she's been getting online since the doc came out, and she hasn't because she's forced herself to not go on Twitter. Her Youtube channel has blown up and people are wanting to see more and more stuff, but she's too afraid of hate that she doesn't want to risk it at all. She eventually starts uploading more casual makeup videos, and building more confidence in herself.

Eventually, Nini asks if Kourtney wants to do a duet with her on her EP, and Kourtney nearly dies. On one hand, yes she does, but it's after the initial viral boom of the doc has worn off and things are returning more to normal and she doesn't know if she wants to be quite as nerve-wracked as she was before. I think later, sometime in s5, Nini makes a second record and Kourtney happily agrees to do a song with her.

Nini, Big Red, and Ricky are super supportive, and she also allows herself to get closer to Carlos, Gina, Seb, and Ashlyn, and eventually the drama club is on it's way to being a big loving support system.

Plus, not to mention, I cast Kourtney as Ariel in the musical. I wonder if there's a version of If Only that's just an Ariel and Eric duet, cause that would fit Carlos and Kourtney much better than the quartet. Looking dramatically offstage at Seb and Jet during rehearsal and whatnot. She'd be nervous about playing Ariel, sure, but it's about more than that. There's something more innocent, with more ingenuity about Ariel than there is about Elsa, and that's what scares her the most. Performance-wise, she definitely does Beyond My Wildest Dreams as part of the performance and impresses the hell out of everyone. If Only, like I said, would be in rehearsal, and I think Part of Your World too, I think it could parallel the Monster scene I envisioned for s3, where it shows that she's having issues cause the performance is just Too Real, so her friends support her after the fact, just that this time Big Red and Nini are there as well as Ricky and all of the other kids are making it very clear that they're there to support her through it all.

As for her college-related anxieties, well... i suppose i'll just have to write up my ideal season 5 :shrug:

July reading wrap-up

The Icebound Land- John Flanagan- 5/7/23- 8/10 This was better than I remember it being, but I still feel like it kind of missed the mark as a middle grade/young YA book.

Persephone Station- Stina Leicht- 7/7/23- 8/10 A fun and pretty original sci-fi.

When Women Were Dragons- Kelly Barnhill- 8/7/23- 9/10 This was hauntingly beautiful and a really interesting and complex reflection on how misogyny affects our society. I also loved that the dragons were cool in their own right, not just as a metaphor.

The Unbroken- C.L. Clark- 9/7/23- 9/10 This book surprised me in a lot of ways, and was generally a really exciting and well-written fantasy.

Her Majesty's Royal Coven- Juno Dawson- 10/7/23- 9/10 I didn't see any part of this book coming, but it was so good and I loved every piece of it. I also liked how it completely dismantled transphobic ideologies.

Magnus Chase & the Ship of the Dead- Rick Riordan- 13/7/23- 10/10 This is the superior Riordanverse series. I loved the characters so much.

The Memory of Souls- Jenn Lyons- 19/7/23- 8/10 Finally a book in this series was fast-paced enough to hold my attention. The characters developed in really interesting ways and I'm interested to see what happens with the plot in future books.

Love After Love- Ingrid Persaud- 19/7/23- 8/10 This book was not what I expected it to be. It broke my heart into thousands of tiny pieces.

The Other Wind- Ursula K. Le Guin- 20/7/23- 6/10

Mrs. Dalloway- Virginia Woolf- 21/7/23- 7/10 Worked well as an audiobook.

A Time of Blood- John Gwynne- 23/7/23- 8/10

How To Twist A Dragon's Tale- Cressida Cowell- 23/7/23- 10/10 Truly a classic. I forgot how this book ended, and I loved rereading the whole thing.

Sea of Souls- N. C. Srimgeour- 25/7/23- 6/10 Nothing new.

Oakleaf Bearers- John Flanagan- 27/7/23- 10/10 This book is my favourite in the series for a reason. John Flanagan has given me ridiculously high standards for battle scenes in fantasy.

Petty Treasons- Victoria Goddard- 29/7/23- 8/10 A nice way to flesh out the series, but did't do much by itself.

Ulysseys- James Joyce- 31/7/23- 3/10 It tried something new, but it was also very boring.

The Hidden Oracle- Rick Riordan- 31/7/23- 7/10 A decent story, but I really hate Apollo's narrative voice.

A Hero's Guide To Deadly Dragons- Cressida Cowell- 31/7/23- 10/10 A great adventure. I loved the setting of the library and the discussions around censorship.
