thinking about how you can’t idolize one aspect of a thing to the exclusion of all others without destroying even the part you idolized. and I think Taylor was in love with the “forever” of love.

forever is a great thing to be in love with, it’s a high ideal, better than emotional highs or the feeling of not being alone. you listen to “All You Had To Do Was Stay” or “How You Get The Girl”, which say again and again that if you keep staying, keep showing up, the result is forever, and that’s a happy ending right? and you kind of believe her, her confidence sweeps you away. maybe it could be that simple.

but then you listen to “Say Don’t Go” and she lists all these wounds he’s inflicted and then says anyway “I would stay forever if you say don’t go”. the forever that was once a triumphant reward has become a bare minimum, stripped of its miraculousness. she can’t stop hoping for him to say it, but as a listener you see that it couldn’t possibly repair what was broken. forever with the man who twisted the knife and left you bleeding while he was silent wouldn’t be a happily ever after kind of forever, even if he stayed. it’s a mercy that he won’t say “don’t go”.

and then you listen to “You’re Losing Me” and it’s so clear that just staying, just not leaving, isn’t enough. forever by itself isn’t true love. the shape of the forever matters. you can hang on forever accidentally while giving half-heartedly only what you want to give. true love is forever because it gives everything.

and the thing is. Taylor’s infatuation with forever has saved her, and has saved her music, a thousand times. but I think its weakness was that it precisely couldn’t save her from the kind of relationship described in “You’re Losing Me”: the relationship where your partner does stay and does probably explicitly intend to stay “forever” in the sense of indefinitely, but won’t define why and how and won’t commit themselves in a vow. the relationship that’s long-term and “committed” but not permanent and total. so “You’re Losing Me”, like “Say Don’t Go”, presents its list of wounds and watches the heart rate slow to nothing, but because he is saying “don’t go”, she doesn’t go.

you have to want and hope for and only be satisfied by the whole of love. no substitutes or faithless hoaxes accepted.

#this isn’t even about You’re Losing Me coming out yesterday as much as it’s about me listening to Say Don’t Go yesterday haha #the point is I think that leaving this relationship was unlike leaving any other relationship for her. #I hope I hope I hope she’s not going to accept any half-measures anymore #I hope when she feels the love crying out for forever like love always does. that her new lover locks it down and makes the forever real #and I hope if he’s a coward and doesn’t she has absolutely no patience for that #this is me admitting I need a music tag

*pulls up my own playlist* uhhhh a Few so far but when it comes to music i don't like... Actively Listen? no wait no - what i mean is i don't pay attention to shit like genre and what decade its made in. i hear a song, if i like it i add it to the main playlist - and a side playlist if it reminds me of something Specific. and i haven't really heard anything that is Strongly Laughingstock so far! i don't actively look!

but uhhhh rn i have: I Want You To Want Me by Cheap Trick strikes me as a them song, as well as Mr. Loverman by Ricky Montgomery, Strawberry Mentos by Leanna Firestone, To Noise Making (Sing) by Hozier, and Fair by The Amazing Devil.

But at least I'm in good health? And alive. That's a win too. I'm just convinced more than ever that nothing good will ever happen to me without something horrible happening right after 😓

So I made it back to Santiago from home on Sunday night and all was well. But I got robbed on Monday! After work, rght outside a subway station! And not only the asshole took my cellphone, he punched me in the face to make me drop it!! 😒 I almost never take my phone out in public for security reasons but when my boss called, I answered because I thought I had left something important at work. But when I hung up while I was leaving the subway station, before I could put my phone back in my pocket, a huge dude came to towards me, punched me in the face and then left with my phone! 😩

It wasn't even a nice phone, it was basic af and I had it for three years, but it had my stuff and UGHHHH I had to go to the police and then to the hospital to get my face checked because my cheek swelled right away. At least he avoided my glasses? Oh and I had to block my phone number with the mobile company, my bank account because of the bank app and another banking app i use.

To make things worse, I left my tablet back at my mom's by mistake last weekend so I had no electronic device with my info to block my stuff myself. I had to ask my sister to do it and to post a message on instagram in case my friends got any weird messages and to let people know I wouldn't be available. And that if someone talked to them via whatsapp, it wasn't me.

I didn't think about her doing the same for me here, I didn't think anyone would notice or care oops, sorry for that 😬

AND UUUUGHHH I CAN'T BELIEVE I MISSED THE S3 RELEASE DATE ANNOUNCEMENT!!! At least I can enjoy the theories and gifs now 😑 I also can't believe I missed a WHOLE week of OMR beauty content with Omar looking gorgeous and downright sinful wtf

Now I'm back home because tomorrow I have to go vote, got my tablet back and blocked absolutely everything. At least since I sold my soul to google, I don't have to try to remember my passwords lol and could basically wipe everything from my phone remotely.

But yeah, I'm okay! I'm only sporting an ugly bruise on my face that makes me look like I'm part of the lamest fight club in existence.

I wish I liked Wish :/

#I watched Tangled after and realized all the ways I prefer it over Wish #Wish was just soooo fast paced I felt like I was watching a movie on 1.25x speed. no time for anything to breath. #like Maximus in Tangled was Joke-After-Joke-After-Joke #*BUT* then rapunzel and flynn had slow character-building discussions to balance the horse that didn't need jokes inserted #AND Maximus didn't speak-- so the jokes feel more clever. I laughed out loud at him hiding behind a horse-shaped rock #and idk what it is about Alan Menken's music but he is just unbeatable to me #Wish's music was so ''non-musical theater'' genre that I felt like I was listening to a real music group's/band's album #and I don't mean that in a good way... #and I know it's hard for disney to take chances on new art styles but I still feel like Wish's water-color look could have been stronger #for some reason I felt the movie didn't have good composition??? like the lighting often looked flat #I am also fucking SIICK of the last 4 disney princesses having all the same ''yikes oop srry I'm awkward!!'' personality besides Moana iirc #ENOUGH!!!

#the dragon prince #tdp #aaravos #gif #aquanutart #hi i would like to thank everyone who said on my last pic 'i am reblogging this for the puffballs' #as well as 'your tags have murdered me' etc #truly made the whole experience worthwhile. i still can't tell if anyone got the joke but i no longer care #next in our series of 'it's 2022 why don't you make a brush' i should really make a star brush #instead of sitting there going dot dot dot dot dot dot dot dot dot dot dot ... #even traditional art has a shortcut method for this (it's called putting masking tape on everything and then: splatter) #(advisable to do this first before drawing anything else...) #the good thing is it doesn't actually take a long time to do the dot dot dots it's just kind of repetitive #and you get bored and start writing about it in your tags and then it takes longer because you're not working #i listened to the ff8 soundtrack while making this #i had actually planned to listen to the triple triad music the entire time but #it turned out i couldn't take it for several hours #even though i quickly realized my mistake i ended up having triple triad stuck in my head the whole time anyway. i did this to myself #anyway i was determined to finish this before season 4 dropped #because i also had the idea three years ago and i need to post it before the new season possibly makes it obsolete #threw a wrench into my own schedule by deciding at the last minute that i needed to animate it and i don't know how to animate #then tdp kind of also threw a wrench by releasing the first episode a week early but it's okay i'm still basically in time #i'd personally like it if aaravos were someone who warps and twists the truth and/or has a warped perspective rather than outright lying #i'm convinced there's a meaning to the upside-down star arcana and maybe rotating the key of aaravos can unlock something ?? #saying this suddenly gave me flashbacks to the rotation keys in skyward sword rofl what if he's being held in prison #by his own startouch marking being upside-down because it's out of alignment with the universe or something #TWO MORE DAYS let's GO i've been waiting three years to have my theories blown apart
