Scratch in Scratch the Surface vs I Wanna Dance With Some-Ollie
[[[spoilers for season 2]]]
Long post sorry
I've been comparing these two episodes a lot, especially after the song Ghosts Aren't the Enemy from Book Marks the Sprite reminding me SO much of Lose-Lose from season 1. The conflicts are pretty similar, Molly has to keep someone from finding out about Scratch because of real and disastrous consequences, although instead of the flow of failed phantoms, this season it's the ghost chaser Chens. They aren't directly comparable since the contexts are different (Libby is a close friend and Ollie is a romantic interest) ((I'M SPEAKING CANONICALLY DON'T KILL ME SHIPPERS)) and the plot of Some-Ollie isn't really "hide Scratch" it's more focused on Molly and Ollie's relationship and how Scratch is reacting to it. Speaking of which:
Scratch's reaction to Molly's concerns about Libby is very dismissive. He doesn't really care about her and he's not super invested in Molly's personal problems either. The only times he's helped her out (at this point in the series) is when it personally affects him or he feels familiar pity for her. (First Day Frights and The Best Concert Ever are good examples of this) He's not completely won over by her antics yet. And while he is concerned for her wellbeing at this point, it's more like the sort of concern and worry you feel when you see somebody who's clearly not gonna be able to make the entire 5k run. Like you're worried but it's better if you just don't get involved. Baseline empathy, really
Tumblr media
He does start cracking when Molly asks if she can tell Libby because she's misinterpreting the situation. Even during this, Molly doesn't break Scratch's trust and doesn't outright tell her without asking first. Knowing what we know about Scratch now, I think he's always had a soft spot for friendships and hates seeing them end, even subconsciously. He smiles as Molly runs away to catch up with Libby but he's still not happy about it. Yeah he warms up to Libby but telling anyone about him is a potential danger, especially if they feel the need to tell anyone else.
Tumblr media
And in Friend-Off, he didn't really have a justifiable reason to be a jerk to Libby other than Molly's scavenger hunt they were both forced to do. Everything he said (both of them said really) was out of a place of pure jealousy. He even admits that at the end of the episode.
What's important to point out is this entire episode he's only thinking about himself (not an uncommon trend for this character) and is only willing to sacrifice when pushed to do so. Not saying he's necessarily written badly in this episode, far from it, but it is quite a contrast between that and his actions in the season 2 episode 5a segment I Wanna Dance With Some-Ollie.
I'd like to preface this with one of the scrapped titles for this ep was "Molly's Choice" and I think that will haunt me till I die that's such an evil title
I Wanna Dance With Some-Ollie is a VERY compelling episode. While the set up for it and Scratch the Surface is similar, this one feels like it has more stakes involved. Molly has a crush on Oliver Chen, a ghost hunter, and you can see how that could immediately cause issues. Scratch is even more dismissive towards Molly at points because of this, even colder and snappier than some of season 1a in my opinion. (For good reason obviously) and while Scratch's concerns here are mostly fear for his own safety, it's also jealousy. If he was so worried about Ollie catching him, he wouldn't be around him at all, let alone trying to sabotage the dance.
Tumblr media
Molly doesn't take the threat the Chens pose very seriously and dismisses most of Scratch's concerns. (Not that she's a bad friend for this, she just thinks they're silly YouTubers and wants to enjoy a middle school dance) Scratch eventually blows up on her and they get into a rather brutal argument for an episode 5 of a DTVA show. It's presented in the usual silly way but they both say some rather insensitive things to each other in the heat of the moment.
Tumblr media
We've NEVER seen them disagree this hard on anything. They've had differing opinions before but neither of them is budging on this one. They split off and you can see what Molly said to him hurt. She seemingly chose what was more important to her. He seemed to look back as if he was debating on going back in to apologize to her for what he said and did too because she just wants to have a good time and he was trying to ruin that. But he decides he's the last thing she needs right now and starts to go home, only to get caught in a spectral snare.
Here's the REALLY important part I need y'all to listen closely:
Tumblr media
He had every right to an "I told you so". He had every right to tell her never to see Ollie again and to even consider moving just to save his metaphorical skin. But he doesn't. She apologizes first and he interjects with his own apology for trying to ruin her night. Her happiness is what's most important to him now. That priority shift happened since Out of House and Home, maybe arguably even sooner. He doesn't tell her never to see him again, in fact he IMPLIES that she should be able to do what she wants and he wouldn't interfere anymore. It was Molly's choice to cut it off with Ollie after seeing Scratch in that much danger.
He's still a self centered jerk with possessive tendencies and separation anxiety but it's important to point out that he recognizes Molly as her own person and he shouldn't interfere with her happiness. I think season 1a Scratch wouldn't have even LET her go to the dance with a ghost hunter as her co-chair to begin with. I know I don't need to defend Scratch's actions since most people are on his side in this episode (a weird change of pace) but I needed to get my thoughts out about him and his development so far. My boy has come so far, they feel like good, real friends. Also I'm just gonna reiterate Molly wasn't completely at fault here because she just wanted to enjoy the dance and both her and Scratch had equal fault in this scenario, that's called ✨good writing✨, you don't have to pick a side. THE WORLD ISN'T BLACK AND WHITE, OLLIE
I hope they address Scratch's jealous nature in a future episode, especially since they're hinting towards an Ollie redemption. After the ghost hunting fear is gone, that jealousy is gonna still be there, I'm kind of hoping after that talk outside of the school where Scratch resigned himself to whatever Molly wanted to do, he wouldn't be too jealous of him and we won't have a Friend-Off 2 or something. (Although if he decides to be a little petty and messes with Ollie a little, I welcome that. That sounds really funny honestly)
I feel like halfway through this I just started rambling, I hope my point made it across clearly LOL tldr; scratch is a well written character and he means so much to me and if I see any Molly/Ollie/Mollie slander on my account I will be throwing hands <3

this is a long one but i really wanted to make a one and done post.
chat with me in the comments abt it if you want! i would love to hear all your takes!
first, marinette and her sacrifices:
i think we’re having a (kinda poor) take on the “i don’t need a man to be happy” narrative by making marinette stop going after boys altogether.
(which lets be honest is sort of a good thing because she was a bit overboard with her crush/obsession/creeping over adrien. this will make her act more normal around him, which will make adrien love her for who she really is, as many of us have thought aloud already.)
what i don’t like is that its because she is forced to by her duties, not because she wants to. its okay for someone to want to take a break from dating but it should be because they feel like they need it. marinette really doesn’t want to, she’s such a romantic extroverted person, she really wanted to keep what she had with luka.
and what i think is making her extra miserable is that all her friends are now asking why she made that decision (”why was luka looking for the truth, where you lying to him? this is so unlike you marinette.., are you alright? you dont even trust us with your secret? seriously? how can we be your friends not even knowing when you’re lying and when not?”) and she cant answer why, because they cant know her secret either. so she has absolutely nobody but chat noir, and she only has him when shes ladybug.
marinette needs someone with whom she can talk freely about being everything that she is, but especially the superhero side. she needs a human person version of tikki, whom she can trust with all her secrets and feelings and worries. this is why i think we will see a lot of chat noir and ladybug being besties this season, bc she needs them to be.
finally the love square:
i think marinette will start liking chat noir, since he seems to be the only person who can actually relate to her. he’s the only person she can be her superhero self around.
adrien will be accused of lying by kagami, but i think not about free time like marinette, but about his feelings. she will not be as tolerant as luka was. she will be jealous and mad, and she will ask for adrien to make up his mind. adrien will of course tell the truth and tell kagami he doesnt love her like that (but of course he would love to stay friends bc thats just so adrien of him). kagami will not be ok with that.
this season might definitely be the season adrien starts to see marinette in a different light, he might feel conflicted because he still loves ladybug. (ce mur qui nous sépare anyone?) also think they might spend more time together. maybe gabriel lets her create things for him? maybe we finally get to see those chinese lessons adrien promised? maybe they are in the artistry club together? maybe he tutors her bc her grades go down? all i know is we will probably get some of adriens melodramatic-ass sighs and out-the-window stares with marinette in mind sometime soon.
and im just gonna predict/assume marinette will know adrien is chat noir by the end of this season. it feels like the right time if season 5 in intended to have the full reveal still. but if the seasons were stretched to fill the new schedule with the extra seasons, then it might be the finale of season 5 or 5A.

The Wahoo KICKR Climb is one of the more unique devices to hit peoples pain caves in the last few years. A grade simulator to mimic the hills and descents during your indoor workout. BUT, is this perhaps an indoor gadget too far?
Wahoo KICKR Climb Review – Are We At Peak Gadget?
The Wahoo KICKR Climb is in the house! (and about time, after the reveal at Eurobike there seems to have been a looooong gestation period before a few engineering challenges were overcome in order to get the units manufactured)
Since finally popping out of the factory doors Wahoo has been honoured within 2019 with a Design and Innovation Award for the KICKR ecosystem – which they will gladly sell you for a shade under £2000 – you can read about the award here
So what IS the Wahoo KICKR Climb? Simply put, it is an incline simulator that replaces your front wheel when you are using Zwift or other cycling apps. It can increase the height of your front wheel such that you can get up out of the saddle on a +20% grade, or tuck in for a -10% downhill
Unfortunately for many existing Zwift users who might be interested in the Wahoo KICKR Climb, the unit will ONLY work with Wahoo trainers. But not just any Wahoo trainer, you are basically limited to the Wahoo KICKR CORE along with the Wahoo KICKR Snap and Wahoo KICKR unit but only the 2017 models onwards.
The reason being, as alluded to on the Wahoo KICKR Climb box, those trainers have a specifically had changes made at the axle to allow the bike to pivot, without damaging either the trainer or your frame. On the face of it, it sounds like a marketing stunt to drive sales, however, it genuinely is an engineering issue
It really this isn’t a case of “let’s try it anyway” as the Wahoo KICKR Climb is controlled by the Wahoo KICKR it is attached to, not from the Zwift app directly. This is reinforced by the presence of a communication logo on the remote. You need to have established a wireless connection between the Climb and the KICKR trainer in order to get the gradient action. All trainers currently receive gradient data from Zwift, this allows them to set their resistance, with the Climb data is simply being rebroadcast from the Wahoo KICKR on to Climb as a height command. Hence why you need both parts of the package
Speaking of package, what do you actually get?
Wahoo KICKR Climb – Design
Seriously with Wahoo’s current design and boxes, this has felt like a noir photoshoot!
Unsurprisingly when you pick up the box, the unit does feel lighter than a Wahoo KICKR but with the Climb coming in at over 8kg there is still a good heft to the box. Inside the Climb is enclosed in a coffin Esq block of polystyrene
I was very surprised at the number of axel adapters in the box, but it is good to see manufacturers including such a range rather than having them as aftermarket add-ons
Each pair is idiot proofed with coloured stickers on the plastic, hopefully making sure that you install a matching pair
We’ve also got the worlds largest power pack I’ve ever seen. Well in turbo trainers anyway
One of the main reasons for this is that the Wahoo KICKR Climb requires double the current of the turbo trainer, 10A vs 5A
Sticking with the power theme, the power pack plugs into a tiny extension off the Climb, rather than directly. Always good, as this means there is a little bit of flexibility if you do manage to trip over the wires in the pain cave – given we’ve now wires to the turbo at the rear and the Wahoo KICKR Climb at the front
The cable connecting the remote control is like a 1980’s telephone cord, and actually is probably a good deal thicker. Clearly, the solution to not being wireless is to over compensation when it comes to wires!
The remote is quite a chunky affair and should fit most handlebars without issues.
When not in use, you can feed the cable back inside the Wahoo KICKR Climb and then the remote will nest in the divot. There isn’t actually on “off” button on the Climb, but the unit will go to sleep after 15 mins of inactivity but can be woken again by pressing any of the buttons
Looking at the unit itself the two supporting struts are made of metal, adding the reassuring weight of the unit. Whilst the unit is clearly not top heavy, you can always feel physics just pushing at the edges. Without the bike on, whilst it may not be easy to actually knock the unit over you, can certainly cause it to rock worryingly, particularly so for a £500 piece of kit
Following along the lines of the metal beams, you’ll see a small cut on the bike side of the column. This indicates zero degrees or flat.
I was a little surprised at the built quality of the plastic in the Wahoo KICKR Climb out of the box. Very obvious burrs and nicks to the top of the case, almost as if the case had been opened up again on the assembly line. It may only seem a small thing, but from Wahoo, who have a strong reputation for the quality of their products, I was surprised

(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});
Wahoo KICKR Climb – Manual
You can access a PDF of the Climb manual, there Wahoo REEEEEALLY wants you to read this time HERE
Wahoo KICKR Climb – Using the Device
The setup of the Wahoo KICKR Climb is just about the simplest thing I think I’ve tested.
You plug in the monster power supply (then decide if you want to cut another hole in the trainer mat to hit the wire)
Remove, and maybe read the obligatory warnings. I think Wahoo REALLY wants us to notice this one!
With that, all set, attach the QR axels at the front
Attach your bike to the trainer, and the Wahoo KICKR Climb
(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});
With everything powered up, press the central button on the remote to connect the Wahoo KICKR and the Wahoo KICKR Climb – moving the LED from the locked position to the open position. This is to stop the Wahoo KICKR Climb overriding any user entered settings. As soon as you press the arrow buttons, the Climb locks, but will immediately reconnect when you hit the middle button again
From there, load up the Wahoo Fitness app, and check if there are any new firmware updated either for the Wahoo KICKR or the Climb. Remember these two are a package, so the firmware of the KICKR can have an impact on the Climb performance
It is a little odd when you look at the Wahoo Fitness app, as you cant initially see the Wahoo KICKR Climb, as it is held within the Wahoo KICKR pages, and is from there you’ll see firmware updates for the Climb
Before we get going on the Wahoo KICKR Climb itself we need to dive back into some of the settings on Zwift. The trainer difficulty slider controls how severely you get hit when you start up an incline in zwift, compared to the real world. So if you leave this at the default 50% setting, then 50% of the gradient is smoothed out by the trainer.
This will have a direct impact on the Wahoo KICKR climb. If you are slogging up the max 17% gradient on Zwift, but the slider is only half way, then the trainer will be giving you the resistance of an 8.5% hill. As the Wahoo KICKR will only receive the signal for an 8.5% hill, it will only be able to tell the Wahoo KICKR Climb to rise to the same 8.5% slope.
It’s only a small thing, but when set up to ride, I do think that the setup looks a little odd. Visually there is something just a little bit cleaner about a front wheel. Not that looks really matter, but if your set up is a permanent one, you’re going to be adding a few more wires to your Zwift setup. I can see from a safety standpoint why the choice was made to have a hard-wired controller, but I’d still prefer to have had a wireless, and smaller, control unit
So, all set up, and ready for my first ride of the Wahoo Climb. I saw that there was the L’Etape du Tour Sportive on Zwift. Seemed like a great way to test things out.
Nope! Just forever going up the hill. This did actually give me more useful information than you might think
Reiterated on the London course, if you are in the city, then not really going to see much action from the front end either
The vistas and steep climbs on the NYC course give a good workout for the Wahoo Climb, especially with the short steep sections.
Where you do get to see and feel the Wahoo KICKR Climb at it’s best is around the undulations and very changeable terrain of the lowlands of Watopia. The Esses in Watopia, for example, give the best user interaction with the Wahoo KICKR Climb. Here the unit is dealing with rapidly changing roads, and really gives the rider the truest sense of the product which has replaced the front wheel.
However. Isn’t there always a however with these things! There is a fractional lag with the system, but surprisingly not with the Wahoo KICKR Climb, but with the KICKR 2018 at the other end. You see the big flywheel allows momentum, to be carried into the hill, so that Climb is ramping up, fractionally before the increased resistance bites.
When it comes to actually ride the Wahoo KICKR Climb… pictures speak louder than words, and video is lots of moving pictures, so let’s show you what it looks like. You can see that the Climb is much happier with longer, slower changes. It is definitely worthwhile watching, as at the beginning you can see an odd little bug in the Wahoo KICKR Climb firmware where the KICKR and climb seem to get a little confused. But other than that the ride is great
youtube
Going back to the fact you are able to set your own gradient the Climb or switch off with the handlebar controls – this might actually be a little more important than you think. For example, if you are on a group ride and wanting to chat more with the Zwift Companion app. Trust me, having your handlebars bounce around as you are trying to type out a message can really catch you off guard should you attention slip! Thankfully the handlebar-mounted control unit is securely waterproofed, so it is protected from the sweat which you WILL cover it in during a ride
Because of the position that the Wahoo KICKR Climb sits at under your handlebars, it does tend to get hit by a fair amount of sweat
Which brings me to something that I noticed after a little use and cleaning sweat from the Wahoo KICKR Climb. The metal post with the “KICKR Climb” sticker on it goes into a plastic base with a sealed bottom. The gap between the metal and that base is a little concerning given that this area is going to be liberally sprayed with sweat from a workout.
Have a look at Zwift FB groups, and you’ll see that sweat is quite corrosive stuff. Now this might have been taken into account by Wahoo, but given the fit and finish as discussed earlier and the other potential sinks for sweat… maybe not
Wahoo KICKR Climb – Conclusion
A big question I always keep in my mind when doing a review is “Would I buy one?”
For the Wahoo KICKR Climb, I’d have to say “No”. Or certainly not at the moment. If it was to be compatible with the Tacx Neo 2 or the Elite Drivo, I’d be much more inclined to look at a Climb, but as it stands I can’t shake the feeling that there is an element of community beta testing when I look at the hardware. It would not surprise me if as and when Wahoo release a smart bike we see what essentially amounts to a Wahoo KICKR Climb 1.5 within the chassis. Afterall Wahoo does have a clear track record of regular updates to their products.
Saying with that beta feeling to the hardware, if I did hit buy, I’d also want to keep hold of that receipt in case of any sweat related warranty issues in the future. Remember most of the time bike trainers are relatively clear of the “sweat zone”, the Wahoo KICKR Climb is right of the front of your bars
In terms of using the Wahoo KICKR Climb when riding, it is certainly fun and helps greatly with encouraging you to get out of the saddle, rather than just mashing the pedals. So it’s just possible that it may make you a better rider/climb (shock I know)
Ultimately the Wahoo KICKR Climb is not an easy product to award as the score to, but at the moment, I think that the unit deserves a solid 3/5. It enhances the Zwift experience, I’m just not sure if it is £500 worth of enhancement
Maybe the Wahoo KICKR Climb is actually showing we’ve already reached peak gadget??

Comio S1 Lite Review: Budget Phone with a Budget Price!
Comio, an Indian Smartphone brand which is focusing on Indian youth with their budget smartphones, launched their new Handset S1 Lite a while back ago, featuring a 13MP Rear Camera and 8MP Front Camera with Front Flash. We used this device for almost 2 Weeks and I took this smartphone on a trip to Rajasthan, India and today I am gonna share my Reviews on it, in this Comio S1 Lite Review.
The Review is divided into 5 categories and in the conclusion, I will share that for which age group this smartphone is suitable for. So let’s get started.
Just to note the price of this smartphone is 7,499Rs and we will talk according to the price of this smartphone
Display
First things First, the display of this smartphone is decent, it was fairly visible in the direct sunlight (in Rajasthan), but in other conditions the display is good, its fairly bright, the colors pop out, and the viewing angles are good too.
Though while viewing photos I saw that the color in the images are oversaturated sometimes (depends on the image), but we cant expect more from a smartphone at this price.
Software
Comio S1 Lite is running on Comio UI 2.0, on top of Android 7.0 Nougat, and it will get an Android update as soon the chip manufacturer will roll out the update, that’s what they said.
The Comio UI is a heavy skin, as it contains some cool animations which seems great in daily use, like the cleaner icon in the desktop, when you press that icon, it animates like its vacuuming all the stuff and after that we see, a burst of light which looks cool, there are more animations like these in the UI, which do look cool, but I guess they can slow down the device.
Though I never experience a lag or freeze while navigating the UI, as of now, but there was lag, and we will talk about that in the next section.
Performance
The Comio S1 Lite is powered by a 1.3 GHz MediaTek MTK 6737 processor, which is not the best one out there, not event in the budget segment, but it can handle the normal tasks a user required.
Don’t expect that you can play games on it, if you can then only with minimum resolution graphics, even then you can get some lag. I tried playing Marvel Contest Of Champions (My Favourite), and it’s not a very heavy game, but still, it lagged sometimes in the gameplay and resulted in my defeat… 🙁
Never mind moving ahead this device handles most of the basic applications with ease, like Facebook, Whatsapp, Twiter etc. but it starts to slow down when some graphics power is required, in apps like snapchat.
Despite having 2GB of RAM, it manages to handle multitasking fairly well, switching between apps while working is snappy when using Chrome, Facebook, Reddit, Whatsapp etc. Though you can experience some minor lags when you are playing games.
Camera
Now, this is the USP of the device, a 13MP Rear Camera and an 8MP Front camera with Flash. In terms of the price Comio S1 Lite comes in, the camera performance is fairly good. I got some great shots from the device on my trip to Rajasthan, some of the shots are shown below.
As you can see the shots came out great, but there is a shutter lag when clicking pictures, which sometimes feels annoying.
And they also have cool snapchat like filters to use under facecute mode, where you can adjust beautification settings as well. About Beautification, that thing works great on this smartphone.
Let’s jump off to out final section an talk about its battery.
Battery
Comio S1 Lite got a 3,050mAh battery, which you can guess is a lot bigger and beefier for a device like this, and that being said the battery life on this device is great. I took pictures all day, and still get around 20-30% juice left at night for more pics, so I took some more pictures :D.
Though while gaming the device gets hot, and that’s when it starts draining the battery. With extensive gaming, the smartphone lasts around a full day charge, but you have to charge it in the night.
Conclusion
In the end, the Comio S1 Lite is suitable for the Indian market that still believe, the buying phones online always result in frauds, and it will be best to gift to someone who is not really into playing heavy games and stuff, like your grandparents, father, mother etc. I personally don’t think that this phone is suitable for the youth as the youth want the best one possible.
But, if you have a budget of 10,000Rs then you should probably go for it. I know you may think why not Redmi 4A or 5A, that’s because their availability fluctuates, and this smartphone is available across all major offline retailers.
