Good Stuff: Best Movies of 2023
Tumblr media
This was NOT a great year for blockbusters, huh? This was probably Disney's worst in years, multiple flops including what was meant to be their centennial anniversary film. It looked remarkably by the numbers, but think of the conglomerate's losses... Anyway, this to me was a pretty great year for films. Like 2022, I'm amazed at the variety we got that says more about the shifting tides of people's interest in movies. It was the most times I've been to the theater. We got a big worker's strike over the summer, especially large push back against degenerates trying to push AI to do more than just shitposting. And it was enough for me to know Adam Sandler, Godzilla, and Hayao Miyazaki could get the better of Disney. With this said, let this be a first for Good Stuff and count down my favorites of this year.
12. Renfield
Tumblr media
My suspicions were on the money and I'm glad I gave this a shot in the theaters. Cage was the best Dracula I could've asked for in what you might say was an Adult Swim-esque dark comedy. It definitely has that style of gruesomeness and humor given Robert Kirkman and the Writer/Director behind Moral Orel made this. Unfortunately, Ben Schwartz stuck out like a sore thumb even if he fulfills his purpose in this, reminding me of Christopher Mintz-Plasse in KickAss; I feel he or Jason Schwartzman would've been better suited. Plus it can feel all over the place, an identity crisis that you can't even grasp after it finishes. Then again, I just had fun watching and would gladly rewatch for Cage and Hoult who are the highlights of this.
11. Migration
Tumblr media
Call it blasphemous, but I enjoyed this more than the Mario movie. It's essentially Rio mixed with National Lampoon's Vacation, with a lovable cast, solid animation, and an eazy breezy road trip story. I've always looked to Illumination for simple enjoyable romps and I got what I expected here. Gave me Amphibia vibes in a way, replace frogs with birds. Everything surrounding the villain is my only real issue, he was an obvious and very nothing bad guy, but it's overall better paced than Super Mario Bros where it felt like you watched an eternity in 3 minutes. Still don't get the air of folk looking down on this for just being serviceable when it's honestly become my favorite Illumination movie next to the first Despicable Me.
10. Killers of the Flower Moon
Tumblr media
Sad to say this is the weakest Scorsese movie for me, mainly because it felt like we're following the wrong main character. Lily Gladstone is incredible in this, among the other great performers, but she felt sidelined in favor of DeCaprio and De Niro's perspectives. It's like if in 1995's Casino, we just follow Ginger throughout the moment Sam introduces her. I liked the turmoil Leo's character goes through, but it paled in comparison to Mollie who was more affected by his and Hale's actions. That does not mean it's all bad. This can be a beautiful, dynamic, and ruthless movie that just made me feel bad for watching it; running with the words "harsh reality" throughout the 3 and a half hour runtime.
9. Good Burger 2
Tumblr media
I watched Good Burger 1 & 2 this Thanksgiving weekend, and just had a blast. These are the kind of movies that are charmingly stupid but not insultingly so. Kel Mitchell's Ed is emblematic of how much dumb fun this duology is where he's actively comical but not smoothbrained to ruin your time. This I say is like Home Alone 2 where it is just beat for beat the 1st movie with minor developments but that doesn't really matter when it's just as well put together. It never feels like Kenan nor Kel missed a beat and the drama not overstaying its welcome. It is just "Good Burger Again" without it feeling like diminishing returns compared to other rehashing sequels.
8. Leo
Tumblr media
Can you believe this got better publicity than Disney's Wish? Even YMS could appreciate this movie, that's how you know Sandler has his recognizable game when you least expect it. But Leo is a surprisingly good comedy that has actually sincere moments. Being Happy Madison's 2nd ever animation, it's like Adam waited to refine the production as opposed to putting a cash grab together like one would expect. It's not all good, especially trying to be a musical, but seeing it once you'd be impressed how much good it does with the risks it takes.
7. Nimona
Tumblr media
Like Migration, everything surrounding the villain is the one big issue I have with this, especially when it comes to affecting the film's message. At the same time, she pales in comparison to the dynamic pairing of Ballister Blackheart and the titular shapeshifter. Nimona is my favorite character of 2023, her energy and confidence matched by the struggle she bears existing alone and the facade made to band-aid it. Her and Ballister's journey alone made me glad this got out of development hell, being Blue Sky's final production posthumous. To me it wasn't about being a take that to Disney, it was about the fact a movie like Nimona got to exist as great as it did. Hoping Stevenson is satisfied with their adaptation, because it definitely earned its flowers.
6. Emesis Blue
Tumblr media
Offhand, it openly sucks that Letterboxd refuses to let this stay on the site to log, but it can't be overstated how much of a marvel this was. Repurposing not just the characters, but the lore and mechanics of Team Fortress 2 into a feature length horror thriller. The animation's top notch where it can have godly framing that was on par with the known legends of horror film making. SFM animations can be beautiful on their own, shitpost or otherwise, but Emesis Blue goes a step beyond by having a compelling story fitting for the universe on top of, again, every frame being a painting.
5. Shin Kamen Rider
Tumblr media
I've never really saw any Tokusatsu shows. Not that I hate the genre, just could never get into it while recognizing the glorious looking chaos found in clips. Knowing Hideaki Anno directed was what got me into seeing this film and it opened my mind quite a bit. This was the legacy film that definitely had Anno's touch in both the action and drama. While the climax can notably drag, you never feel left out of what was essentially the original Kamen Rider's origin story. It doesn't have the complex VFX of stuff like Marvel, but the costumes and fight scenes makes me wish we got more of this in America beyond Power Rangers.
4. TMNT Mutant Mayhem
Tumblr media
Advertising before release really didn't make this appear like a promising film. If there's anything I learned from this year though, appearances can be deceiving. Like Nimona was for her movie, the creative choices for this made it the TMNT movie I never knew I wanted. To me this felt akin to the Lego Batman movie where it's not only a good love letter of the franchise for more than its fanservice, but this spin on the characters is able to have a new sincere view of them without overhauling everything about the TMNT. That and it has the greatest needle drops I've had in a long while like how do insert He-Man Fabulous Secret Powers and expect me to hate this?
3. Godzilla Minus One
Tumblr media
I call this a great year for films because it marks the first time I got to see a Toho produced Godzilla, with subtitles, in an real movie theater. Needless to say, it felt like I got to enjoy the 1954 film again anew. Not a remake mind you, but the parallels were uncanny and this spins here work just as well, if not more here than with the original in a couple places. Both are still strong movies nonetheless. Minus One is a refurbish that dishes out what people always wanted and uniquely giving a little more while never sacrificing why the OG is that timeless. With it getting more than a limited release, I'm glad this got to be more than a niche celebration of the kaijuu king.
2. Oppenheimer
Tumblr media
This film's been meme'd to heaven, hell you could say it got meme'd to success thanks to its dual release with Barbie, but it didn't undermine getting hooked to watching this anyways. This really has become my favorite Nolan film, a compelling biopic that doesn't exactly herald its titular lead in the best light thanks to the paradoxical storytelling. Oppenheimer gives us the largest ensemble I know, and delivers in the most breathtaking moments I never knew I could get. Cillian killed it among the many who made the three hours of people sitting and talking in rooms actually tense and intriguing to thread. Plus it gave us the beauty of Josh Peck being the guy to detonate the test bomb like cherry on top of this cinematic cake.
1. The Holdovers
Tumblr media
I remember watching Alexander Payne's Sideways with Paul Giamatti as a high schooler but couldn't appreciate it until rewatching this year. It's one of the best mid-life crisis comedies you could see, still fresh in its easy going presentation and music. The same can be said for this film, made to feel like it came from the late 70s or 80s with the old opening logos that I didn't think you could do in these times. Out the gate, this was the holiday story I was shocked would be as relatable as it was, with the trio of Giamatti, Randolph, and Sessa each having their story that resonated with me strongly. With the right amount of time, Payne offers an remarkably cozy, down to earth movie where from reserved to outgoing, it did a lot for me emotionally. Like Netflix's Klaus, I kinda want this to be a traditional rewatch for the holiday seasons. One that everyone should try at least once, especially if they feel the disillusionment of the season where this might lift their spirits one way or another.
If there's anything to learn from this year, it's that the meta has definitely shifted. Even when the many on my list didn't make billions like the Avatar films, the variety and risks made spoke more than the big dogs like Disney and WB putting out unprofitable blockbusters that ranged from very by the numbers to you don't need to see The Flash to know how god awful it just was. More people are & should branch out beyond the major mainstream names. Not that the big dogs aren't ever gonna make great films in the coming years, but we should appreciate more than the big budget features you can tell are playing it safe. Time can be patient for great cinema, sleeper hits or not, so take advantage while you're young.

Nico (House Comes With a Bird) x f!reader x OMC.
Part of this series.
WC:4.3k
Warnings: angst, mentions of terminal illness, alcohol use, infidelity. Smut. Unprotected P in V sex, anal sex m/m. Threesome. Mentions of group sex and BDSM.
Summary: You and Nico find that a little confession is good for the soul.
Perfect Moment
When you had returned from speaking to Nico, the tension was still in your body. Ever so gently, giving you plenty of opportunity to shrug her off, Ruby ran her hands over the tense muscles of your shoulders. "You okay?"
"Yeah. I'm good." You plastered a smile on your face. Wrapping your arms around her waist you pulled her close. Her chest flushed to yours was a comfort. This was nice. This was here. It was simple. This was a moment you could enjoy.
"I just…" you trailed off distracted by the maelstrom of emotions within you. "Sorry, I have to go." Pulling away from her, you dressed as she gave polite reassurances.
The halls were filled with sounds of enjoyment, yet you couldn't enjoy anything until you found Nico.
Thankfully, you didn't have to look far. Nico was sat at the bar, hunched over another whisky. This one looked untouched. The slump of his shoulders dampened the anger crawling it's way to through you. You had never asked Nico for more. You weren't sure if you even wanted more from him. You had followed his rules now here he was, bending them, twisting you up in knots. Then he'd let you in just a slither. His words caught you off guard '..when you've seen what I've seen…' Is that why he is so closed off? No, you weren't going to think about that. That was Nico's issue to deal with. What wasn't fair was him dragging you into it.
"What the hell was that?!" The bartenders head shot around at the sound of your voice.
"Let's go somewhere and talk. Okay?" Nico gave the younger man an apologetic look before escorting you upstairs.
Regaining some composure, you kept a lid on your emotions until you were behind closed doors.
"You tell me you don't do tenderness then you keep touching me in that way and I…what the hell is that?" You tried to keep your voice down as anger burned the edges of every syllable.
"I don't know!" Nico snapped before biting back his tone. He took a breath. "With Angelo it's different. We've been friends for so long. We went through so much together. There's no chance of anything more between us. We're friends. I love him as a friend. We fuck. He dates other people. It works for us. There's a line that won't ever be crossed. With you..."
"With me what?" You couldn't let him leave it hanging there.
"There's a temptation. To be tender, to be soft, vulnerable..." He swallowed as his voice cracked. "I can't do that again." In the low light of the room you could see the glimmer of tears welling in his eyes as he dropped into an arm chair next to the unlit fireplace.
All the anger left you. Sinking to your knees you wrapped your arms around him. He hesitated at first, you could feel his muscles straining to keep him in place. The words came to and flowed straight out. "It's OK. You're safe with me."
Leaning down he pulled you up into his lap. His head buried into you neck as he wept. He held you as close as he could, holding you like a lifeline so he didn't get lost in his moment of sadness. Raking your fingers thought his thick hair, you hushed him softly. "It's alright. We're here for you."
Leaning down you pressed soft kisses to his temple. Lifting his head he caught your lips. The connection he was seeking shifted. Wrapping your legs around his waist he stood, his lips never left yours and he made his way to the bed.
As you landed softly beneath him, his hands roamed your body before pushing your dress up along your thighs. The air cooling the wetness between your legs did nothing to cool off your desire. The pang of guilt as the tears caught on his lashes brushed your nose certainly did. "Wait. You've been drinking, you're upset..." you pushed him off a little to look in his eyes. The warmth of them was dulled with emotion. "...I don't want to do anything you'll regret."
You saw him bristle for a second, he puffed his chest up, slipping his usual self assured facade in place, until it was washed away with more tears. Your legs, still wrapped around his narrow waist, pulled him closer. Holding him tight, you smoothed your hand over his back in calming circles. Eventually, his tears stopped. He sat himself up, grabbed some tissues from the bedside cabinet, he cleaned himself up before returning to you. He sunk heavily into the bed before drawing you into his arms. His fingertips delicately traced your bare skin, while he lay seemingly lost in thought. The silence between you was comfortable. Even with everything going unspoken between you. Nico was clearly going through something huge. With no clue as to what it was, all you could do was offer comfort. Laying in his arms, you thought about how little you actually knew about Nico. It was odd because you knew him. You knew his presence. You knew you could trust him. You knew his temperament. But actual facts about him outside the bedroom?
"Nico?" He hummed into your hair, now completely relaxed beside you. "When's your birthday?"
"My...? September 21st. Why?" You could feel the quizzical smile on his lips against your hairline.
"Like the song?" You grinned into his chest.
"Like the song. Yours?"
"May 7th."
"I knew you then. You didn't say."
"Why would I? Would you have baked me a cake between sex positions."
"Maybe. What's your favourite cake?"
"Red velvet. Yours?"
"Vanilla."
A laugh rang out of you as you made your own joke. Nico laughed too, nestling you deeper in his embrace.
"Nico, what do you do for work?" You had absolutely no idea. He worked from home but that's all you knew.
"I write for magazines."
Huh, not what you were expecting. "About what?"
"Medical advice columns."
"You're a doctor too?" It made sense, how he knew Angelo. You can't imagine him at patients bedsides, giving them comfort. Not like Angelo, with bright eyes and boyish good looks. His softness shone out of him. Nico was usually buried under his cool exterior.
"I was until..." he cleared his throat, shifting uncomfortably beneath you.
"You can tell me when you are ready." You offered him an out as you cupped his cheek.
He relaxed into your touch. Only giving a slight nod as he held back more tears. He was quiet for a long while. The two of you just tangled further together in the sheets. "What's you favourite colour?" He asked stifling a yawn.
"I don't really have one. It changes all the time. You?"
"Same."
After a few more random questions, the two of you fell asleep curled up together.  When you awoke a few hours later. The house was in darkness. The party seemed to have wound down. The early morning light fought against the heavy curtains. Nico's body was still wrapped around yours. As you stirred under him, it roused him from his sleep. Wordlessly, he pressed his lips to yours. All the need that was there before you slept, simmered under the surface as he touched you gently. His movements were slow as he buried himself inside you. The subtle roll of his hips building a release for both of you torn down some of the walls that he had build. He was free with his tenderness. His lips lingered on yours. He held you with care. His breath mingled with your as it stuttered upon your simultaneous climaxes. He didn't even pull out of you as you both drifted back off to sleep.
When you woke late in the morning all the was left between your legs was Nico's cum. Foolishly, part of you had expected him to still be there. The rest of you knew he'd be gone. Nico had let his facade slip. Like he said last night, the tenderness was just a temptation. Something that he gave into in the dark. You had been willing to let him. Rather stupidity considering your longing for closeness. Sex was one thing to disassociate. Feelings were something else entirely. Especially with someone you had grown to care for. Someone you enjoyed spending time with. Someone you could...a knock at the door made you jump. You had no idea who's room Nico had brought you to. Before you could get out of bed the door swung open. Wrapping the sheets around you, you tried to cover your modesty as best you could.
"Hey! There you are!" Angelo beamed at you as he turned on the light. He was barefoot, no surprise there, his shirt was half hanging off him. Fresh bite marks littered his chest. His dress pants were slung over his arm, leaving him naked from the waist down. His curls were hanging over his forehead in a messy quiff. He landed on the bed next to you face first. He didn't move for so long that you thought he'd passed out.
As you reached out to him he jerked his face up off the bed. "Sorry, Honey. Did you wanna fuck? I can't promise anything. It's been one hell of a night. Maybe just me like half an hour and a cup of coffee." He rolled onto his back and his flaccid length slapped against his thigh. "And maybe a viagra." He slung his arm over his eyes. "Maybe some painkillers." He was still again.
"Angelo? Angelo! Have you seen Nico?"
"Huh? Oh yeah, he went to his therapy appointment. I thought he'd cancelled it." He muttered sleepily.
"Therapy?" You gently prodded.
"Hmm. It's a relatively new thing. Right around the time we met you actually. Before then he just dealt with his wife's death with fucking and partying." His brain finally caught up with his drunk mouth. "Mierda! Don't tell him I told you. It's not something he talks about. Not for a long time."
"I won't but..."
Two brown blood shot eyes found yours. A debate going on behind them. "If I tell you. You keep it to yourself. No matter what."
"I promise."
"His wife got sick, cancer. I was oncology, he was surgery. He didn't trust anyone else to treat her, so we did. Nothing we did even slowed it. She was too far gone. He had to watch as she wasted away." You stomach sank at his words. No wondered Nico wanted to lock away his tender side. "We rushed a clinical trial for a new drug through. A few of the test group died. It was later found to be nothing to do with us but Nico never forgave himself for that either. Fuck. I know we did everything right but it still.." he voice caught in his throat.
"I'm so sorry Angelo." You pressed a kiss to his cheek as you held him.
"It's OK. I...shit, I'm still drunk. You want me to get you a cab?" He animatedly gestured towards the phone on the night stand before wincing at his own movements.
How could you go home now? Just to worry about the two of them until this new information ate you alive.
"No. I'd like to stay."
"Good." He climbed up the bed before flopping onto his back. His eyes were shut tight. "Obviously my dick is still very much out of commission but you are welcome to sit that pretty little pussy on my fa..." He trailed off as his breathing slowed.
Moving around the bed you tucked him in. As you placed a kiss to his forehead he mumbled. "You're a sweetheart. Remind me to introduce you to my boyfriend."
With that he was out like a light. Nico's wife. Angelo's boyfriend. It was a lot to take in. Angelo's boyfriend was less of a shock. They were always honest about any sexual activity outside of your arrangement. You all got checked regularly and they used condoms outside of their time with you. Angelo had an exception, a man he was intimate with, they didn't use protection but the guy didn't sleep with anyone else. He didn't call him his boyfriend though, that was new. That was still easy to accept. The fact that Nico had, and tragically lost, a wife. That was going to take some processing.
While Angelo slept you ran yourself a bath. The tub was deep, the bubble bath next to it smelled of pomegranates. Pouring a generous amount into the water you watched the bubbles form, trying to keep your thoughts present for just a minute.
Sliding into the warm water you couldn't help a few tears of your own from falling as you processed the last twelve hours. The water soothed between your legs, where Nico had stretched you earlier. His touches had been tender, loving almost. They'd stoked a part of your heart that had been dormant. No matter what you had told yourself about your relationship with your husband. Sex with him didn't give you the connection it used to. Your husband was never one for talking about feelings but for a few moments after you had sex he would whisper sweet nothings as you lay together. That along with the intimacy of the act itself gave you a closeness that you clung onto. You tried to put a brave face on for Nico and Angelo you never wanted their pity. The way they looked at you, like how you wanted to be seen your whole life. You got a taste of it in college before you switched to a male dominated field. You were looked as strong, confident, knowledgeable. Something the men in your life never really gave you. That all needed to be locked away in your mind for now, along with you very enjoyable adventure with Ruby. Nico had to be your focus.
After last night maybe the best thing was to give him some space. He'd become important to you. You wanted to keep him in your life. Maybe when Angelo woke up, providing he was finally sober, he might be able to give you some idea how to deal with this all. The hot water was cold by the time you pulled yourself out of the bathtub. Angelo was snoring softly as you dressed. He grunted at the sound of the door opened and closing, something that you didn't even hear. Stepping out of the bathroom, you were surprised to see Nico. He carried a tray full of cups and a bakery bag. "I thought you two might need some breakfast."
The two of you stood awkwardly for a moment before Angelo snoring like a stuck pig sounded through the room. "You want to get out of here?" Nico asked softly. "I feel like I owe you some sort of explanation."
Following him to the door, your stomach made you make a quick double back for the bag of pastries. Stepping into Nico's room, you could smell Ruby's perfume. "Shit, Ruby!" You gasped, covering your eyes with your free hand.
"She was fine with it. She found a group of people with an odd number to join in with."
"The eleven people." You whispered to yourself.
The absurdity of the night hit you. You'd come to a swingers party with a man that you had questionable feelings for, along with his lover, well your lover, had your first sexual encounter with a woman, ran out on her to confront then comfort said man. Hysteria set in as you dropped down on Nico's bed.
When your laughter subsided Nico sat next to you. "I know Angelo told you about my wife. He called me, he said you were in the bath and he was very concerned that he seems to have worn his penis out."
Another laugh escaped you.
"I'm sorry." You tried to kept it together.
"Don't be, I'm definitely going to give him shit about that later." He smirked." Besides I should be the one saying sorry. I have a fucking breakdown, have sex with you then leave. I know I can be an asshole but that's a new low for me."
"I get it. You've been through a lot."
"It was the anniversary of her...that day by the pool. I'd just came back from therapy. I didn't mean to cross any lines. You were just there and soft and sweet. I...I don't want to mislead you. I'm still not ready for hearts and flowers, all that stuff you deserve. That you want. I just wanted a little softness, a little piece of what I lost, I guess. Then last night you were there and you have such a way about you. The two of us.." he gestured back to Angelo's room"...we feel so comfortable around you. I let my guard down then I freaked out that I'd ruined everything. I had cancelled my appointment but she still had the slot open so I went. I felt like I should have paid her double to listen to all that."
"Do you tell her everything? About what we do?"
"It's part of the deal. I have to be honest about what I do to cope."
"Well, at least she'll never be bored." You nudged him with your shoulder. He leaned into you some of the tension in his body lifted.
"You didn't ruin anything. We're fine. I feel better now that I have some of my questions answered. The softness was nice but it had me thinking that I'm not ready for a new relationship. Feelings are…complicated. I don't want to have to be mindful of someone else's.  I'm enjoying learning more about myself. I kind of want to be selfish for a while. If that makes sense."
"Maybe not to some people. To me? It makes complete sense."
"Good because I need to learn more stuff. Like what BDSM is. Is that the one with the paddles and stuff?"
"It's more than that but I'd be happy to explain it to you, Kitten." He leaned forward nipping at your lips. "Let me go check on Angelo, we can eat and I'll go over the basics with you."
Letting out a breath you didn't know you were holding, you felt the tension ebb from you. This was what you needed, time to grow into who you felt you were, the person that Nico and Angelo saw. How could you hope to find someone to love you when you weren't you yet? Nico seemed to have a handle on things. You couldn't imagine the pain of what he went through but he was here, surviving it. Hell, he was living a good life in a lot of respects.
The door opening drew your attention. A mop of dark curls appeared first, the rest of Angelo stumbled in behind with the support of Nico.
"Don't be so dramatic, Darling." Nico practically dropped Angelo on the bed before closing the door behind him. Angelo huffed theatrically. "That's easy for you to say. It's not your penis!"
"Isn't it?" Nico cupped him through his pants that were now back in place and bit on his earlobe.
"It's not funny. Idiota!" Angelo curled into you for sympathy.
"Is it still...?" You peeked down at his crotch.
His big brown puppy dog eyes looked up at you as he nodded. He was still clearly drunk. No doubt that added to him being overly dramatic and his current state.
"You're still drunk, Baby. That probably has a lot to do with your current predicament." Nico snorted at your choice of words.
"Asshole." Angelo snapped at him.
Angelo's wild curls hid your own amusement. "What can we do to help?"
"Maybe put on a show for me?" He nuzzled into you chest. "I want to watch you ride him. I love to see these pretty tits bounce." He mouthed at your nipple whilst giving you his best doe eyes.
"You're being a drama queen." Nico told Angelo flatly. "But I'm not against that idea." He pulled you to your feet before turning on the radio. Twirling you to the music you felt free, drifting around the space. While you weren't in his arms Nico made a show of shimmying out of his shirt before throwing it at Angelo's head.   Angelo did his best to look annoyed at him, even though he was relieved to see Nico back at his best.
Angelo loved his relationship with Nico. It was a weirdly pure love between. They were friends, he adored the man. They just happened to fuck where other friends might play tennis. It worked for them. There was a special closeness between them. With things getting serious with his boyfriend he was scared they were going to lose that. More specifically, he was scared Nico was going to lose that. You had breezed into their lives at the right time. A perfect distraction for Nico. A sexy, smart, piece of clay for him to spend time moulding. Nico was having fun doing just that. Until the feeling that he tried so hard to repress came to the surface. The two of you danced around carefree as you shed the rest of your clothes. Angelo hoped that meant you'd moved past whatever had been going on.
Nico lifted you before dropping down onto the bed, you squealed as you bounced in his lap. Angelo reached over to trace your beautiful smile with his thumb. He was too slow as you caught it between your lips to suck on it lightly. That sent a jolt straight to his cock, that twitched in interest. He felt slightly relieved. Maybe he was being dramatic but his birthday coming up just made him think of all the guys that start to have issues as they age. He knew from experience that plenty of guys don't. It would just be a pretty cruel twist for him to meet the love of his life and for everything to pack up on him. His heart rate picking up had nothing to do with you climbing on top of Nico or the gasp that was punched out of you as Nico bottomed out inside you. No, it was simply the thought of the man he loved. The man who was moving in with him next weekend. The man that Nico had approved of at dinner last month. The man that he oddly hoped that you would like too.
Nico's groan brought him out of his thoughts of love and back to the two of you. Nico thrust up into you as your hips moved in a quick rhythm to meet him. Angelo was already fully hard, the sight of your breasts bouncing with the rhythm just turned him on further. With a strength he didn't always show, he dragged Nico's hips down onto the bed and forced the two of you to the end of it. Your movements stilled as you watched him retrieve the lube from the nightstand.
Wrapping his hand around your throat he gritted out. "Keep going."
This version of Angelo was one you looked forward to. This one was rougher, he would take you apart with laser focus, he thought it better to ask forgiveness than permission. He would check that you knew the safe word then work your body to it's breaking point. Just the thought of him coming out to play pushed you over the edge on Nico's cock. They held you upright as your body shook. Nico's hands on your thighs and Angelo's on your waist. The heat of Angelo's hands disappeared for a moment. He let out a soft "Fuck." as the wet sound of him coating his length in lube made you clench around Nico. You were still gripping him when his cock jerked at Angelo slowly sliding his rigid length into him. Nico's chest heaved at the first roll of Angelo's hips. He looked beautiful beneath you. His head thrown back into the pillow, every muscle in his neck on show. You always wondered how a man could be so attractive that even a glimpse of his neck could make you feel scandalous.
"Lay down, Honey." Angelo's hand shifted to your lower back to urge you forward. Once you were pressed to Nico's chest, Angelo gripped your hips, working you on Nico's cock as he worked his own inside the other man. The spread of your legs had the neat patch of hair at the base of Nico's length stroking your clit. The little sparks were nothing compared to the flames you felt roaring inside at the drag of Nico's heavy length. Nico's eyes were screwed tightly shut as he moaned with each thrust. He muttered curses. Some in English, some in Spanish.
With a long drawn out groan he filled you. Angelo didn't stop or even slow. He kept thrusting, kept dragging your hips back and forth. Nico slipped out of you, your fluids made it easy for you to slide over his softening length, the hot slick flesh rubbed your clit over and over until you came again. Angelo finally let go of your hips as your body convulsed. Nico held you through the aftershocks. His hands braced on Nico's thighs instead as he continued to pound into him, all his worries about ageing left behind as he listened to Nico's mutters of 'Oh fuck'.
When Angelo was finally finished with him, the three of you curled up together. All too physically and mentally exhausted to do anything but just be. You all lay there somewhere between sleep and the waking world. For the first time in a while all three of you were just in the moment. And it was perfect.

Dr. Stone S3 Episode 1: New World Map
Tumblr media
Looks like science is back on the menu boys! Dr. Stone returns with its third season (which is 2 cours once more!), with the goal of creating a ship to cross the ocean. An ambitious goal considering the technology of their time, but one that come Heaven or Hell Senku will complete. Though every dream that aims for the stars starts with a humble beginning, this one starting with a search for oil and the beginnings of agriculture.
It's been a while since I've really watched or paid attention to Dr. Stone stuff, so I've been reminded of how enjoyable the art and designs are for this series. They're incredibly tight and creative, and plenty vibrant without being overly contrasty or excessive in terms of color design. It's a really great balance that puts the focus on stranding out, and being strong.
And one last thing before I get into it, the direction for Dr. Stone has never really stood out to me. It's one of those things that just focuses on not getting in the way of the story and its characters. It leans perfectly into the comedy and excessive nature, but doesn't attempt to try and put a spin on things or really do anything crazy with it. Not exactly bog standard, but not something that you point out and talk about.
So with that in mind, I'm jumping right into science!
Tumblr media
I thought this blueprint was rather fun, not really accurate in any way, but something and interesting to younger audiences for sure. The cross section is a solid idea for showing how it's supposed to look, and there's even measurements just poking their head out from the bottom of the image. But ultimately, it's slightly more than a glorified drawing of a cross section of a ship.
Now, two little tidbits here, not really important but just stuff I found fun. The first is Yuzuriha being put to work, considering her sewing skill it makes sense, but if it weren't clear to others she's the one that's putting together the sails for the ship which was a fun little background detail to add. Similarly, Kinro and Ginro are working together to plane the various logs into workable lumber. They weren't using it, but was fun to see them show off a planer (and helps remind you of the level of technology available to Team Science).
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Now, I'm not 100% certain on what sort of tool Ukyou is using here. My immediate thought was a sextant, but that's used for celestial navigation and they're in the daytime and are surveying land. So, due to lack of knowledge I'm chalking it up to "funky telescope for charting topography".
Tumblr media
So, maybe not science, but I really enjoyed this piece as a bit of logic behind the crew's search in the skies. Rysui points out the existence of a herd of wild animals. Now, for a herd to support itself, there must be sufficient food in the area, which Team Science also happens to be after. Sort of a two birds with one stone moment that works out quite well for them as they stumble upon wheat, of all things.
Tumblr media
So, on the topic of wheat, I was kind of sad that they didn't explain this little piece here. It's a fun and interesting little thing that helps with an overall mundane task. Threshing is the stage where you separate the stalk/straw that holds all the wheat together, and the more traditional way to separate the two is, essentially, to smack it against something. Because of that, seeing it done in a much more refined and controlled manner was interesting, so I was kind of disappointed they didn't add any dialogue to the scene.
Tumblr media
And the last real science-y thing of the episode was a litmus test. A really fun and simple example of the importance of stuff that you might have thought random when in high school. Litmus paper (and acid-base testing in general), is applied in all manner of facets of modern human life. Seeing it as such a simple yet important example was really fun and inspiring, and a cool way to casually teach people about the challenges of agriculture.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Of course, Dr. Stone isn't purely about scientific advancement, so they throw in some sentimental moments as well. In the smaller dosages that we see them in, they serve the story perfectly to allow for the characters to develop, and to help frame the importance and magnitude of the advancements that color human history.
Though you'd be kidding yourself if comedy didn't reign supreme after science. The sort of chibi style that appears just helps accentuate the ridiculous nature of the comedy, while separating it comfortably from the more scientific or sincere sides. It's basically a textbook approach that's executed incredibly well.
Tumblr media
And lastly, Minecraft is in an anime. Yeah. Weird, yet awesome decision to have some of the exposition scenes appear as something styled after Minecraft, given the similarities. Great fun, and a cheap and easy solution to those moments, which can allow them to put more focus elsewhere.

Hiya I meant to send you asks like forever ago but I'm bad so I didn't do that so here they are now they're from this ask prompt thing you reblogged
Feel free to answer these about any of your OCs cause I don't really remember any except rabbit and Knight so~
1, 10, 25, 29, 33, 37, 46, 50, 61, 63, 78, 80, sorry there's so many you don't have to answer them all, I am just cursed with insatiable curiosity only balanced out by my fear of asking too many questions and being annoying—
Hi!!! You’re not bad!! You’re one of the coolest aliens ever!!!!
I am absolutely answering them all with multiple OCs because I will take every opportunity I get to talk about them.
Putting it under a cut because it is LONG and I don't wanna bother.
1. What is their gender?
The Knight: (she/her)
Rabbit: agender but they use (they/them) pronouns
The Apprentice: (he/him)
Dijon: (he/him)
Julienne: (she/her) (they/them)
Monty: (he/him) (they/them)
Diana: (she/her)
Captain Pumpernickel: (he/him)
William: (he/him)
10. What are some of their talents/skills?
The Knight: Swordfighting, Dancing, pottery
Rabbit: Parlor magic, puppetry, Acting
The Apprentice: collecting, Dunescotch [the world's rough equivalent of chess], chemistry
Dijon: cooking, writing, gardening
Julienne: biking, photography, bird watching
Monty: people watching, bingo, garage sales
Diana: fencing, archery, calligraphy
Captain Pumpernickel: Singing, acting, swordfighting
William: whittling, philosophy, accordion
25. What is their biggest flaw?
The Knight: her naivete
Rabbit: Their reluctance to be vulnerable
The Apprentice: His aversion to change and the unknown
Dijon: his self-pitying nature
Julienne: Her self-centeredness
Monty: his...not quite human-ness
Diana: She’s uptight
Captain Pumpernickel: hooboy where do I start? For one, his complete and utter dismissal of everything that doesn’t contribut to ADVENTURE
William: his lack of ambition
29. How would they describe their own personality?
The Knight: “Hmmm. I try to be as nice as possible and I’ve been told I’m rhapsodic! I don’t think my singing’s that good but it’s a sweet compliment!”
Rabbit: “Witty. Yes. Sarcastic? Yes. The people’s demon? In more ways than one~ Even hell can’t handle me.”
The Apprentice: “Simple, studious, and an enjoyer of quiet studying. I tend to be rather straight-forward in my methodology.”
Dijon: “God do I even have a personality? What am I besides a vaguely human shaped pile of mistakes and disappointments?”
Julienne: “A fun loving fun person!”
Monty: “Just your average Earth person! Nothing else to see!”
Diana: “Calm, cool, collected, the perfect dignitary”
Captain Pumpernickel: “AN ADVENTURER! And a lover! Of your mother! Bring out the good ale my good fellows! Your captain has won another battle of the wits!”
William: “Personality? Never heard of it. Wouldn’t even begin to know what the word means. I know no such words such as sarcastic, laid-back, carefree. Nooooo.”
33. What is their biggest fear? How would they react to having to face it?
The Knight: Being ignored and unheard. She’d probably get really frustrated and maybe cry a little as a result. If it really got to her, she’d need help being pulled out of a dark place.
Rabbit: Abandonment. Their general reaction to it is to put on a veneer of not caring and close off from the outside world more, even going so far as to act annoying and unlikable so that people leave before getting close.
The Apprentice: Not knowing. Or, by extension, not being able to learn. He’d probably lash out in anger and storm off.
Dijon: Being an unredeemable person. He faces it every day and he deals with it by being melodramatic in all of his writings and wallowing in misery. AKA, not dealing with it.
Julienne: People being genuine. They’d probably get really uncomfortable and try to excuse themselves from the conversation or make jokes to redirect the conversation.
Monty: The republic finding him hiding out on Earth. He’d fight or do anything possible out of desperation.
Diana: Being a disappointment
Captain Pumpernickel: Not being able to bang your mom not having adventures with his crew. He'd probably be reduced to a shell of his former self.
William: Not being able to talk his way out of a situation.
37. How easy is it for them to say “I love you”? Do they say it without meaning it?
The Knight: Pretty easy but she means it when she says it. She's just full of love tbh.
Rabbit: It's really hard for them to say "I love you". Really really hard. Especially at the start of their arc, they would never say it, however much they mean it.
The Apprentice: It's hard for him to say, simply because it's not quantifiable enough. How does one properly explain how much they love someone? He prefers showing love through actions and more direct compliments.
Dijon: It's not easy for him to say, but he says it without meaning it, both knowingly and unknowingly.
Julienne: She doesn't say it often, but she says it to the people she cares about occasionally. She prefers to say it through time spent and physical touch though.
Monty: The Dude Loves Everything. But they also barely understand the meaning of the word so...
Diana: She doesn't say it almost at all, but prefers to use acts of service and gift giving.
Captain Pumpernickel: He never says "I love you" because he usually doesn't really mean it. He'll use some other compliment or compound of it.
William: He doesn't throw it around easily, so when he says it, it has so much more weight behind it.
46. How easily can they express emotions? How easily can they hide emotions?
The Knight: She expresses her emotions a lot and very easily, but she has a hard time hiding them.
Rabbit: They think they're sly at hiding their emotions, but they let micro-expressions slip constantly. If anyone decided to notice, one would
The Apprentice: He's a blank sheet baybee. What is he thinking? Unless it's frustration or anger, you'll never know.
Dijon: He's just kinda sad all the time. He's miserable and everyone notices.
Julienne: She allows some emotions to come through. It's a bit of a calculated effort.
Monty: All of his emotions come through all the time and he doesn't mind.
Diana: Well, she hides her sadness and happiness, but allows her frustration and such to shine through.
Captain Pumpernickel: He expresses emotions very openly and very loudly. He is a dramatic ham of a captain.
William: He keeps a near perpetual smile that occasionally wavers when things go wrong. He doesn't like to open up emotionally.
50. How would you describe their style of clothing? How would they describe their style of clothing?
The Knight: "fun and comfy!" Light armor with room for mobility but colorful
Rabbit: "...sexy" literally naked except a cloak.
The Apprentice: "practical and sensible" like a fucking nerd
Dijon: "presentable" the best time to wear a sweater, is all the time
Julienne: "quirky" quirky.
Monty: "human clothing for humans! :D" weird mixture of 1800s stuff and modern day stuff. Weird guy.
Diana: "regular??? Clothes???" Fancy ballgown at first then swashbuckling but still expensive.
Captain Pumpernickel: "EXTRAVAGANT AND ASTOUNDING" sexy hobo pirate.
William: "only the highest tier clothing/s" ...rags. doesn't care enough.
61. Which season is their favorite season?
The Knight: Spring
Rabbit: Autumn, harvest festivals and such are good for demons.
The Apprentice: Winter, you have excuses to stay inside and work. Plus the vibe is nice when it's harsh outside and cozy inside
Dijon: Summer, fewer holidays and he's not really cold resistant.
Julienne: Summer. They like the general vibe and popsicles and shorts and sunglasses and such.
Monty: Winter, they love the holidays.
Diana: Summer, she likes the heat.
Captain Pumpernickel: Autumn! He just thinks the weather and vibe are RIPE FOR ADVENTURE!
William: Winter! He like staying inside and the cold.
63. What is always guaranteed to make them smile?
The Knight: her partner! Or a silly joke! Or a delicious snack! Or friendship!
Rabbit: schadenfreude
The Apprentice: order and productivity
Dijon: his favorite childhood book
Julienne: her pet rats! Or pet frog!
Monty: A human thing like paperclips
Diana: this one is a hard one. Succeeding at any of her hobbies.
Captain Pumpernickel: ADVENTURE. and friends
William: seeing Diana smile and be free.
78. Who do they consider to be their best friend?
The Knight: The prince!
Rabbit: the Knight
The Apprentice: books
Dijon: julienne
Julienne: no one. Monty is close.
Monty: ALL HUMANS ARE BEST! AND FRIENDS!!
Diana: no one [William eventually]
Captain Pumpernickel: The sea. And his first mate. And his quartermaster.
William: no one [Diana eventually]
80. Are they a morning person or a night owl?
The Knight: Morning person
Rabbit: Night Owl
The Apprentice: Morning Person
Dijon: Night Owl
Julienne: Morning Person
Monty: Morning Person
Diana: Morning Person
Captain Pumpernickel: Morning Person
William: Night Owl

December 2019 Wrap Up
Tumblr media
So I didn't completley finish my TBR but I already knew I wasn't gonna make it cuz December is crazy busy for me.
1. A Court of Mist and Fury (ACOTAR #2) by Sarah J. Maas
🌟🌟🌟
I mean it was something, I do appreciate they made the whole romance super extra consensual, but like Tamryn was a whole ass new character, and I liked Rhysand more since book 1 but idk this book villified Tamryn and like it wasn't necessary, also this has no plot at all, it was a gigantic info dump and most of the real action happened until the end of the book, so I didn't like it as much as the frist and I will only read the next one that's it, I'm never reading the novella or the next trilogy.
2.- Ruin and Rising (Grisha Trilogy #3) by Leigh Bardugo
🌟🌟🌟
I just didn't like it :( I mean there was lots more action, and the plot advanced more naturally, but like I wanted something better for my girl Alina, the ending she got was quite sad given the fact that in book 2 and part of this one she expresses her ambitions and embraces her powers and to lose them so she and Mal can be together (or maybe it's cuz i don't like Mal all that much)
3.-Legendary (Caraval #2) by Stephanie Garber
🌟🌟
Ammm I will finish the series cuz I want to know what will happen with the world and the characters but this book didn't capture me like Caraval did, the romance was pretty bland in my opinion and the whole "Julian is Legend, wait no Dante is Legend or is he??" got boring pretty fast, the worldbuilding and the magic were pretty intresting but the romance and family angst went against it.
4.-Dear Mrs. Bird by A.J Pierce
🌟🌟🌟🌟
Ok this kinda really made me cry, it was a really good heartfelt story, it was simple and straightforward but also charming.
5.- Unmarriagable - Soniah Kamal
🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
Hands down my favorite read of the month!! I am always a sucker for Pride and Prejudice, and this one is so great cuz it brings the Pakistani culture into the story is amazing I just loved it so so much and I definitely recc it.
6.-Queenie.- Candice Carty-Williams
🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
It was a great book, maybe I was more in a Contemporary fiction mood this month, but I thought it was amazing, a lot like Bridget Jones Diary but with an added complexity when you deal with racism and mental health issues. I really enjoyed it a lot and I am looking forward to reading more by Candice Carty-Williams.
7.- A River of Royal Blood by Amanda Joy
🌟🌟🌟
I liked it, the worldbuilding was pretty good as well as the magic system (I mean I am not much a fan of u can only use the type of magic u are born with but it's ok), but I feel the 'heirs to the throne have to fight each other to death" is not my thing, cuz it simply seems a pointless tradition so I was like whyyyyyy tho?? Like I could get behind it but I feel none of the books of the same style I've read so far has really justified such a practice. I was pretty meh about it, it was enjoyable but a bit forgettable like I can't see myself reading a whole ass series so I won't be reading the next one.
8.- Miriyam by Silvia Veccini
🌟🌟🌟🌟
I enjoyed this book a lot more than I thought, the story was pretty simple and was endearing even if there were some elements that made me cringe (Joseph and Mary's ginormous age gap) it's a short cute Bible retelling.
9.-Oksana Behave! by Maria Kuznetsova
🌟🌟🌟🌟
The humor in this book is my kind of thing, I like memoirs a lot and this pretty much reads like one so I enjoyed it a lot, it kind of ended in an awkward place but overall it was a good read.
10.- Daisy Jones & the Six
🌟🌟🌟
So ummm I had big expectations with this book but I didn't like it as much, it is a fairly short read and the format helps to get through it in no time, and also serves as an intresting devise making most of the characters unreliable narrators, but I also felt it very superficial it had lots of things to really grip the reader's emotions but they pass by to move to the next anecdote, the characters were so bland they were caricatures of the 70's rock stars and Daisy read a lot like a 'manic pixie dream girl' and I don't care for that stuff nor for her wierd "feminism", so for a book that was entirely character driven it kinda put me out, I do think however this book its perfect to be adapted into a movie or a miniseries.
11.- War (Horseman of the Apocalypse #2) by Laura Thalassa
🌟🌟🌟
I mean it is what it is, the book is just as smutty as the last one but I did not love War like I fell for Pestilence, still the book was a fun time and well let's see how the next one goes.
