How does one categorize Project Sekai, Bandori, or any idol/gacha rhythm game?
Whenever I ask someone if they know about rhythm game, why is project sekai the first game that comes to their mind?
Lately, I've been looking for people to talk about rhythm games with. Like Phigros, Arcaea, Wacca, heck even Dynamix if people still play it. But everytime I ask, I'm met with "oh I'm a rhythm game player, I love pjsekai :D" or insert idol game.
With the growing popularity of these I feel like people don't know what a """real""" rhythm game is. And it's very annoying when I want to find a community to join. Maybe I'm just too gatekeepy, or selfish but shouldn't classic and idol rhythm games be separated? Come on Colorful stage isn't the only game in existence! It's A rhythm game, not rhythm gameS.
Now, I can't blame them at all. I enjoy these games too. If these game is the popular thing nowadays, people might as well be allowed to have fun with it. I have nothing against idol games. But yet I feel forgotten. Kind of a "I played video games before people deemed that cool". And no matter how cool people find it, I can't fit anywhere.

I'm immensely thankful that this rip ended up as a request in time for its 7th anniversary, because goodness - I'd almost forgotten all about it! And, like can you blame me? Rippin'! Mashin'! High Quality Grand Prix never got an album release, we still don't know who the ripper of it is, and the game its from never got any more rips after its upload way back in 2017. Frankly, its a bit of a miracle that it even has as many views as it does with all of those factors combined - yet, quality always finds a way.
(Also, sorry for the late post, everyone ^^;)
There was really something special about that period of time during and after December 2016 - the start of the Christmas Comeback Crisis, and what would eventually become labeled as the start of Season 2. The future was bright, there was so much to look forward ahead - and the SiIvaGunner team was firing on all cylinders with the ongoing storyline. There were just so many rips of that time that captured that excitement to a tee, most notably of course with the Patched Plains Fusion Collab - yet I remember overtime, as we moved from December to January, the excitement seemed to be less about the Christmas Comeback Crisis storyline itself, and more just...celebrating that SiIvaGunner was still going. There was a lot of genuine emotions in the air around when Season 1, and seemingly the entire channel was going to end, and though a lot of people felt betrayed by the sudden rug-pull of Season 2's premiere, a lot of others were overjoyed to know that SiIva wasn't truly going anywhere.
And yeah, I can't say there's much more to say on Rippin'! Mashin'! High Quality Grand Prix other than just that - excitement. The introduction from RelaxAlax was, at the time, such a perfect sign of respect from the team to the audience, an acknowledgement that the SiIvaGunner team knew how much the channel was loved by people all over the world - and that they were just as grateful for us as we were for them. The rip is simply a fantastic mashup medley of all sorts of jokes, common and uncommon, bound together by a magical chorus drop with We Are Number One - fresh off the news that the internet's collective love for the song had been the main driving force for Stefan Karl's fundraiser granting him the care he needed. All sealed together lovingly with the closing message, taken from one of Stefan Karl's own video messages - telling us all to "keep memeing".
The sheer joy that the rip exudes is infectious, and its one I'm always so happy to rediscover, a rip that I'm deeply nostalgic for despite only remembering that one emotion. Bittersweet as it may now be in retrospect, I'll never forget the happiness of those early Season 2 days.
Hi Gigi, long time no see. Having a request on your blog been so difficult, it's like a race and whoever is faster will win. However, I am also very happy that you are back and more popular. How are you? I hope you are doing well.
Can I join your idol game? And if you dont mind, can you tell me which luxury fashion brand would be suitable for me to be a brand ambassador? Thank you so much!
i can't be trusted with new units or branches in idol franchises not because i don't like them but because i HATE the people who dislike them and there are soooo many people who do in fact hate them (until like 1 month after the official debut everyone suddenly switches up on them ???)
"all bad music is crazy" "worst va of all time" "congrats for being the worst character" "boring" SHUT UP that amateur va who has only had like 1 or 2 minor roles in an anime and has almost no singing experience is literally my DAUGHTER!!!!!

We're just shy of closing out November and entering the Christmas season, so I figured it'd only be right to highlight some more all-timer rips for me. And, hey - Love Live has like, tenuous ties to the winter season through Snow Halation, right? That's good enough reason for me to cover Susume→Number One, I say!
We Are Number One was, especially early one, always one of the most fun sources to get rips from - there was just so much going in its favor! Be it the fun vocals, immediately recognizable instrumental, that could be mixed and changed in so many ways and still be identifiable, or just the pure fun ska-tune the song had...there's always something to look forward to with WANO, and the team rarely just leaves it at a mere mashup. Because of that, I'm almost always able to enjoy WANO rips, even with barely any knowledge of the source material - which is exactly where Susume→Number One slots in.
I remember January 2017 as being a time where the fanbase was in pretty high spirits, coming hot off the heels of off several episodes of the Christmas Comeback Crisis in December the year prior, and a huge slew of rips basically confirming SiIva was nowhere near ending (before Chaze himself would fully confirm that with the monochrome pause). And though I have little to no attachment to Love Live!, and SiIva really hasn't been able to convert me, that high from the fanbase sort of carried over into this rip - I can now only associate Susume->Tomorrow in any form with the happy feelings of SiIvaGunner continuing onward from way back in 2017. And that's all thanks to the excellent work done with Susume→Number One - its at times the original song's instrumental with Robbie Rotten's vocals, at times pitch-shifting WANO's saxophone to be in key with the song, and even intersperses little segments of The Noble Haltmann and Snow Halation toward the song's middle. All together, it becomes a really celebratory anthem, almost the complete opposite emotions that the various Season 1 finale rips elicited.
Though I don't think I'll ever truly connect with Love Live!, I'm happy that its music has been able to find new life on an entirely different platform, with a whole new emotional meaning and an all new fanbase. Thanks, gang.
