(Day 28/31) BINDING. My favorite part of quilting! Many times I have started a quilt just by choosing binding first and visioning the result. This is my sewing machine. Second day of #igquiltfest with @amyscreativeside hosting and setting the agenda. . This is my beautiful baby! I've had her three years from new. Before that I had my mums 70s singer, which I used until I spent more time ripping out stitches than sewing them! Then I made the decision to spend a good amount of money on a new machine, it was the best decision I ever made. I spent as much as I could from my savings and I have never regretted it😁. Sooo I don’t really have anything good to share for #igquiltfest because I haven’t finished anything recently, fast or otherwise. Instead, here is my growing wall of experiments. I bought a cutting mat and new ruler today (👍🙌👏🙌), so hopefully some straight seams and fast finishes are in my immediate future.

(Day 21/31) QUILTING DETAILS. Hand quilting what else! For the Swoon quilt I used white and light blue colors of perle cotton thread (no. 8) for hand quilting clamshells throughout the entire quilt, edge to edge quilting. I started hand quilting it March 2018 and finished June 2018. The first thing I did before hand-quilting was thinking on “how can I do this WITHOUT marking?”. I totally hate marking and wanted to avoid it altogether. So templates. I watched a very inspiring, helpful tutorial on YT and then I stormed and made my own templates. As you can see in the 3rd picture, the clamshells. I made almost six sets, they are made of felt and they lasted for the whole quilt. . . Today's prompt for #igquiltfest is "quilted admiration"...but I'm going to take a bit of liberty with this one, and share someone I truly admire who isn't in the quilting world. Allison Gingras @reconciledtoyou is a woman who truly inspires me. She and I first connected many years ago when I was a guest on her podcast, and we've stayed in touch over time. A few years ago, Allison reached out about an amazing project she was working on: a Women's Scripture Study, and would I be interested in authoring a book. First, wow - and second, yes! I'm thankful, honored, and blessed to have my book, published last summer, become the next in the #stayconnectedjournals series published by @osvcatholicbooks With C0V1D slowing down a bit, I'm so excited to really begin a launch of the book. With a few trips tentatively planned throughout the US this coming year, I'm excited to bring this book, and its story about how to live liturgically in your home, to a few new parishes. I'm also thrilled to continue bookclub online; at the start of each liturgical season, we meet (virtually) to discuss that book's chapter - for the book itself is broken up, by chapter, to reflect each of the liturgical seasons.
