Today I tried to sew the "Classic Shell Top" from the "Sewing Bee - The Modern Wardrobe" book. I really like the way the patterns and methods are explained and I learned a lot while I was sewing it. This is the first time I actually made something with darts and I am fairly happy how they turned out. However, I should have chosen a size smaller (or in general learn to measure myself correctly :) But it was quite cheap fabric so it was perfect as a learning piece.

304 likes hessewmatthew Before Sewing Bee I had never made a swimsuit. When we got the brief I made one to practice. Safe to say swimwear is not for me.

However, felt inspired to tackle a swimsuit that was suitable for any female, femme representing or anyone who wanted to wear a swimsuit. My aim was to design something that would cover anything that ANYBODY may want to cover. We have parts of us we don't want to expose. I chose the colours of the trans pride flag as this is a community that globally needs our support and love and going by Twitters response to my swimwear this is evident.

Was it my best creation? No, but it was filled with so much love, respect and compassion for a community under attack and the bodies of anybody who sometimes needs a bit more coverage to brave a swim. I'm proud of my idea, just wish could've executed it better.

Thank you again for all your support and love. Now go out and say something nice to someone that needs that smile today.

Love this leotard! 

I made it DIY during lockdown <3 

Not too difficult - 5 steps basically:

#1: Make a pattern - derived from a standard leotard

#2: cut the fabric - I used snake like foiled fabric :)

#3: serge it - serging is indeed the fastest way to connect pieces together but a sewing machine does the trick too!

#4: hem it: I don’t posess a cover stitch machine so I did it with an ordinary sewing machine :)

#5: Be a snake! - Love it!
