No, I’m not talking about Detective Ikeda Sen from Return to Shironaga Island.

This is my own little theory as to who the unnamed but still important enough to get a unique portrait Archer in Traum is. Namely, that it’s Nagayoshi’s IRL waifu!

She’s been mentioned on here before in the FGO community by u/10gn and u/wep_wawet in these posts.

The big “clues” are that she’s a riflewoman from the Sengoku period, which given how Fate will throw a genderbend curveball every now and then might not mean much, and that she’s apparently a Buddhist nun. Both criteria fit Ikeda Sen very nicely.

Ikeda Sen was born around 1563 to the Ikeda Clan. She was educated to a high standard and trained in martial arts.

Unusually for a woman at the time, she also became well-versed with firearms, particularly the “Tanegashima” arquebus which was highly favored by teppogumi (gun units).

Sen would eventually lead a Teppō unit of her own consisting of 200 female musketeers.

When precisely she was married to Mori Nagayoshi isn’t clear, but it had to have happened sometime between 1574 (assuming everyone involved waited for at least one of them to turn 16, the average marrying age during the Sengoku period) and 1584.

There’s even less to go on in regards to the state of their union, but Nagayoshi was on good enough terms with the Ikedas (Sen’s father didn’t like him though) to be a frequent ally to them during campaigns.

Ikeda Sen and many of her family members have the distinction of filling out the Great Uniter bingo card of the Sengoku Era, as they fought for and against each of the major administrations associated with Nobunaga, Hideyoshi, and Ieyasu (if not the men themselves).

Sen might have fought to avenge Oda Nobunaga under the banner of Toyotomi Hideyoshi during the Battle of Yamazaki against Akechi Mitsuhide’s forces. This is somewhat in dispute, but there are anecdotes claiming she did, and some evidence that she at least tried to volunteer for that army.

Ikeda Sen’s next major theater of combat was the Battle of Shizugatake between Hideyoshi and Shibata Katsuie, wherein the Ikedas sided with the former and lay siege to Gifu Castle.

The Battle of Komaki and Nagakute was next, the historic clash between Toyotomi Hideyoshi and Tokugawa Ieyasu (well, technically Oda Nobukatsu). With the Ikeda Clan fighting for Hideyoshi once again, Sen’s father Tsuneoki devised a plan to outflank the Tokugawa forces to attack Ieyasu’s stronghold at Okazaki Castle directly.

Unfortunately for the Ikedas, the movements of their 6000-strong would-be siege force did not go unnoticed, and they were eventually boxed in by pursuing Tokugawa armies.

By the time the Battle of Komaki and Nagakute ended in a peace agreement between the two lords after much back-and-forth in military advantage over several months, both Sen’s father Tsuneoki and her husband Nagayoshi had fallen in battle.

Nagayohsi and Sen had no children.

Eventually, Sen remarried. This time to Toyotomi daimyo Nakamura Kazuuji. They had two children together, including the future first lord of Yonago Domain.

Kazuuji would leave Sen as a widow once more upon his death in the August of 1600.

Afterwards, the now 37(?)-year old Sen became a Buddhist nun.

This peaceful transition did not last as the Battle of Sekigahara flared up just a couple of months afterwards in October of that same year.

There are possibly apocryphal sources that claim Sen picked up her old gear and entered the fray alongside the rest of the Ikeda Clan, this time fighting for the Tokugawa faction.

I really want this to be true, because the image of her being approached to come out of retirement to fight in this battle, only for her to say “no” before deciding to say “yes” and reassembling her old squad is just Hollywood in the best way possible to me.

This might seem unlikely, given that Ieyasu’s armies killed both Sen’s father and first husband for what was ultimately an interim conflict with dubious gains.

On the other hand, Ishida Mitsunari had a bad habit of burning the bridges his regent had built and alienating allies on his side of the shore. So the Ikedas ditching him out of spite is rather probable.

There were records of Sen’s life written as late as 1640, making it likely that she lived for more than 80 years.

As to the reality and fantasy of Ikeda Sen’s military career and the 200 other gunwomen at her side, there is a strong article of evidence that indicates that at least some of it happened: rice.

“Rice Wages” (or koku) to be exact, an estimate based on the total economic yield of a person’s land. By the reckoning of 1650 Japan, the country was assessed at 26 million koku.

For her various exploits both in combat and politics, Sen was awarded 10,000 koku on record. Not an astronomical sum (the Shogun directly controlled 4.2 million koku and a person of interest being given over a 100,000 koku wasn’t unheard of), but it was approximately the amount a castellan or even a daimyo would possess.

Now this rifle-toting lady could be, if she’s supposed to be anyone, Tachibana Ginchiyo, Yoshioka Myorin-ni, or Enkyū Myōgetsu, Women in the Sengoku period who fit the criteria (a strong association with firearms and Buddhism).

She also doesn’t show up in Nagayoshi’s GUDAGUDA chronicle chapter. So who knows?

I just thought it’d be cute if it was Sen. She and Nagayoshi could form a nice comedic (if not romantic) couple in Chaldea. They’re both auburn-headed, they both got them psycho gold eyes, that rugged charm, the big chests, and they’d have a classic melee/far-range complimentary skill set.

She could even show preferential treatment to Ranmaru just to annoy Nagayoshi when she’s feeling cross with him.

Maybe it’s just the hopeless romantic in me.

But hey! That’s just a theory. A Game Theory (minus the NFT-parsing and milk machine smell).

Rin specifically told Kohaku to stay out of her business.

He’d pulled her aside after dinner, mouthing the word ‘him?’ so that his brother in law’s keen hearing would not alert him to the conversation that needed to be had long before Christmas Day, but Rin had been less than forthcoming. It ‘wasn’t his business’ and therefore he was meant to stand back and watch it all play out.

Honestly? She should have known better.

“You won’t believe who was seen cornering boys and demanding a date before class this morning.”

Kohaku’s friendship with Mayu was a friendship of convenience. They were the youngest in their class, and their last names began with the same three characters when broken down into hiragana. If there were a time when her desk was not behind his—he didn’t remember it.

Either way, Kohaku pretended not to hear.

Mayu dug her pencil into his spine, snickering when he lurched against the hard wooden border of his desk. “Poor Satoru texted me asking for advice because apparently your precious niece demanded that he accompany her to Christmas dinner this year.”

“Did you do the homework? Mr. Houshii is only gonna let you off easy so many times before he calls your mom.”

Just because Mayu resented her younger brother didn’t mean he resented Rin. Perhaps the girl he grew up with viewed him as someone she couldn’t talk to about love—but he’d never act in a way that made him deserving of that verdict. Even if that meant ticking off his best friend.

“Don’t try to change the subject.”

“Then take a hint.”

She snorted. “Sen. Si. Tiveeee.”

When her nagging finally stopped, her chair squeaked. He imagined that she slumped against the desk, her arms outstretched across the wood.

“Honestly? I thought she was gay.”

Kohaku whipped around, his jaw clenched, because if Rin didn’t want them knowing, then they had no right speculating—and met the sparkling indigo of his math teacher’s eyes. His lips quirked upwards, as if he’d say something too personal and inappropriate, but in the end he seemed to think better of it.

“Ikeda,” tapping his blue pen against the clipboard, Miroku’s eyes scanned her empty desk. “Homework?”

She shrank in her seat.

“As much as I love gossip,” he made a show of marking X on his sheet, “perhaps you’d be better off focusing on your own life for now?”

“Yes, sir.”

Miroku drew in a circle to mark Kohaku’s work as completed before continuing down the line.

“When you’d said your uncle taught this class I thought that meant an easy A.” Mayu grumbled. If nothing else, she seemed to forget about Rin for the moment. And for that, Kohaku was eternally grateful.

You know, it’s been a long time coming, but after playing the game twice, I think it’s appropriate to say.

Danganronpa fans: You should be playing Return to Shironagasu Island!!!!

Seriously.

Okay, this is a two dollar visual novel on Steam currently that is also being ported as a fully voice VN to the Switch as well.

What’s it about? Well, to put it simply, this game follows a detective named Sen Ikeda and his neurotic assistant, Neneko, as the two are called to an island to investigate why an invitation caused a man to take his own life. Upon arriving to the prestigious island with other eccentric and questionable guests, Ikeda and Neneko soon realize that the place is steeped in one hell of a bloody history and that they won’t be leaving anytime soon.

Okay, but for realsies, this game is great to play for lots of reasons. But the first of them is Neneko. She was pretty much made for the average Danganronpa fan to sink their teeth into, ESPECIALLY IF YOU’RE A TOKO FUKAWA FAN!!!

Neneko is like the creator of the VN played DR THH and kinned Toko Fukawa so hard that he had to make an entire mystery game around her and also give her a rich bitch girl love interest (sort of) to actually like her back:

The characters are incredibly fun, the story is alluring, comedic, frightening, and it all comes together for one hell of a dramatic and heartwarming ending for the main characters.

However! A few trigger warnings: Occasional Jumpscares (they’re very mild, but it does have horror tones), human trafficking, violence, blood, guts in jars, the worst men on earth die some pretty violent deaths, torture, and a partial crossdressing plot point (honestly it didn’t come off as transphobic or anything since the main character assumes the character crossdressing is either possibly trans or just enjoys it and is like “Oh hey that’s cool. If you ever have any problems, just talk to me. I’ve met all kinds of people in my line of work.” But I am not trans so I can’t make that call for any of you, so be aware). Oh and some times sequences… but they’re pretty inconsequential. There are a few anime tropes here and there that get a tad “Ughhh…” but nothing too overbearing.

It’s just really done well as a small game and it has everything I love. OH AND ITS TWO DOLLARS ON STEAM!!!!

GO! GO PLAY IT! I’ll stream it often enough if ya can’t, but seriously this game is a total Diamond in the Rough and deserves more attention!

Overall impression about Heisuke Hen

I really dislike the camera work of Heisuke hen. For some reasons, they keep focusing on a single person during the dance in Yaisa Yaisa Yaisa and only the upper body, too. This means that it is impossible to look at the choreography and also impossible to see whether all the other people are standing. The whole point of an ensemble is to see everybody on the stage together and Heisuke hen camera work just makes it impossible to see it. Also, I literally cannot see anybody dance because the camera angle is so bad. I am really glad for the new works, they show us the entire ensemble besides the solo scenes.

Also, that duet between Heisuke and Sannan at the end is just bad. They are literally arguing and singing about how their comradeship is ending and there is that upbeat music? I don’t understand how it is a good idea. 

However, the best thing is that everyone was just so damned cute. Like, I was overwhelmed with cuteness when I watched it. Ikeda Junya was just so, so cute. Tanoue Marina was also just so cute. They had great chemistry together. Chizuru in the game is, unfortunately, rather blank so it is great to see different Chizuru actors bringing different take on her and making her into a more well-rounded character. I think that one reason that they keep changing Chizuru actor for every Hakumyu is to find a Chizuru that will best fit the guy whose route is the focus of the musical. Mikata as Sannan was also cute, but I wonder whether that is just because I always find Sannan cute or because he was actually cute in the musical.

Furthermore, I really wish that they included Sen in more Hakumyu after I saw Heisuke hen because Yanagita Erika as Sen was just so cute. She also had such a great relationship with Chizuru in the musical that I wish that they could interact with each other more in other musicals. However, my issue with her portrayal is that it was too cute without much bite in it? Sen in the game is a very cute, sweet and supportive girl. She, however, has a lot of sass and is willing to bring it out. I feel like this musical’s Sen lacks that sass, especially in regard to Kazama. She is always so supportive and protective of Chizuru, and I love it when she hit Kazama with a fan and glared at him. This Sen had some great sassy, protective moments but not to the level of the game’s Sen.

The YASHA CD Drama, Stage 1; A Long-Awaited Arrival To Our Arsenal

The first thing my beloved collaborator, @toichinagae, told me about when they reached out to me was the existence of the YASHA CD drama. I was very intrigued, as I'd never heard of it before. I knew of the TV drama, in fact I'd archived it a month or so beforehand, but I never knew that there was a CD drama that not only followed the manga more closely, but also featured some anime voice actors that I NEVER would've expected to work on it!

There are two CDs, this post will be focusing on the first one, referred to as "Stage One." This CD was released on March 24th, 2000, and produced by Pioneer LDC(Currently known as NBCUniversal Entertainment Japan.). This drama's screenplay was written by Asami Watanabe(I could not find any information about them online, it seems there is a key animator by the same name, I am unsure as to if they are the same person.), with music by Nobuo Ito.(Once more, there is very little information about them online.)

The cast list, as sent to me by @toichinagae via email, is as follows(I added some notes on notable characters each voice actor has played, just because I find it interesting.):

More power to her.) (*Note Toichi's voice at 12 years old is currently unknown.)

These CDs are currently untranslated, but you can find the .wav files for both in this drive folder.

I intend on creating youtube uploads for each track, for ease of use to potential translators and general accessibility for people who's devices cannot run .wav's(..if any exist lol.)

Mae plays Return to Shironagasu Island

Hi,

So, I've neglected this blog a little, not for any particular reason though. I've still been playing a lotta games, a wide variety of games lately. I was planning to write about the Parascientific Escape series. It's a cool mix of visual novel and escape room, but as fun as it was and as much as I enjoyed the series, it's simply too rough and unpolished to recommend. So, in the end I didnt write about it.

I guess that relates to the other reason I've neglected this blog, I play a lot of games, and I often enjoy them and thinking about them, but theres no great impetus or need to write about em. So, I guess thatss the purpose of this blog, to write down my thoughts abouf games and to recommend decent or interesstng oness.

That brings us to today's game, Return to Shironagasu Island. Its a visual novel horror game with mystery elements. It was developed by Hyogo Onimushi. You play Sen Ikeda, a private detectve working in New York. He is hired to investigate a suicide and goes to Shironagasu Island to investigate. He takes his friend/assistant Neneko with him. She's a weird otaku type girl, who looks and acts pretty similar to Kuroki from Watamote. i.e She's plagued with crippiliing social anxiety the entire time. Unlike Kuroki though she has a photographic memory and is often vital in the investigation.

The game's strongest draw is the central mystery of Shironagasu Island. It's satisfying to watch it unfold. There's a neat cast of characters with their own motivations and its fun to puzzle out.

There's not really much more I can say about the game without giving too much away.

Gameplay consists of advancing dialogue, choosing dialogue options and clicking on things of interest. Standard point n click stuff. There are a few unique areas of gameplay, but again that'd be spoiling it. Honestly, its impressive how much the developer manages to achieve with only text and a some nice cg's. It's worth checkiing out for sure, I even wrote this blog post about it afterall.

There are some things I'd change, its often necessary to click the same thing multiple times and its not always clear how to progress. There are also a few possible game-overs if you pick the wrong choice, but these don't really feel impactful nor do they affect the experience besides making you reload and try a different choice.

I'd really like to discuss it with people who have played it, that's one of the best parts of video games. So if this post interests you, you can find all the possiible places to get the game on its offiical websiite below

What’dya want?❞ Considering they purposely waited until Chacha left, no doubt whatever he was going to be asked would be annoying. Even so, one did not refuse Nobunaga, and so he’d have to answer it – whatever it was. The question that came was one that earned a raised brow, his head giving a slight tilt to the side. ❝Huh?❞ Nagayoshi couldn’t recall doing anything that was too…outside…of his usual habits. He tried to dig through his thoughts to find something, although in the end, there was no reason to do even that. Nobunaga continued on, stating what they had meant by him being ‘stupid’. Teeth clenched, his expression darkening, but he didn’t say anything. At least, not at first. For as loud and quick to state his mind as he always was, there was switch between his usual boorish and brash habits to something far more cunning and cautious – the very things that one would assume that Nagayoshi was not. ❝Well, you can’t trust a rabid dog to do everything you want it to do. You know that much, Boss.❞

      He was obedient, though also not quite. Nagayoshi did what Nagayoshi wanted to do, and they were very much aware of that fact since the beginning. Was that not why they wrote off his behavior at times, as him just being him? Why they did not punish him for killing each and every guard that had attempted to block his way and make him get off his horse back in the past? Why they hadn’t punished him for things said or done when others would have been slain on spot after a good laugh from Nobunaga? ❝Anyway, why would I want to have more kids when I could be out there killing? My daughter would have been a terrible onna-bugeisha. A good wife, yeah, but warrior? Not so much.❞ He waved his hand, brushing aside the very thought of it. ❝She didn’t have the disposition for it and would have been more liability than anything else…and I know how you hate those you can’t properly use. ‘Sides, the time I spent lounging about the estate would have been put to better use taking enemies heads.❞ He leaned back, his hand lifting to cup his chin as he glanced up at the ceiling. ❝Nah, that other stuff never really came to mind when war was a lot more interesting than setting up a marriage.❞

2022-12-16 “Can Ikeda Teresa see the dream of Teresa-panda?” [ENG]

Ahhh I can’t ever wake up for this dream, I’m pretty sure was a song that I sang on the first broadcast of New Nogizaka Star Tnajou. I had only just debuted and at that time that was the first time I had appeared on tv.

We wore this cute outfit, and sang while dancing… and watching myself in the screen I thought to my self “is being an idol really just a dream?”

I barely made it into the auditions for a group that I longed to join, Nogizaka46. It was then that my dream started and since then I’ve been unable to wake up from it.

To be able to be doing a lot of magazine shoots is something that most idols aim for. I don’t know anything about this line of work, but since joining Nogizaka as an idol I’ve come to know the world and the jobs that come with being an idol.

Appearing on TV, being published in magazines, radio, SNS and stream about myself…

It’s amazing.

I’m still a million miles away from reaching my senior members, and I don’t even feel like I’m close to reaching the other 5th generation members. They’re overflowing with talent, they’re cute and on top of that they’re hard workers. No matter how much effort I put in it’s still very difficult to catch up to them.

 New Nogizaka Star Tanjou! LIVE in Kobe, I was asked to do the vocals for JUDY AND MARY and YUKI-sa’'s ‘JOY’. Ever since it was decided that I would be performing this song I was very worried, happy, delighted and pained.

For me this is an important song. Deep inside, I feel like I did the best that I could at the level I’m currently at and I gave it my all.

I hope you were able to smile and enjoy my final song that I will be singing this year.

The day I met Ito Marika-san

The other day I  went to Ito Marika-san’s solo exhibition “MARIKA ITO LIKEA EXHIBITION LIKEA” 🎧✂️

The second I entered the appearance of the world was so powerful and the level of perfection really charmed me.

It was so bright, on top of that the control of the colors and images and together with the still images and her expression were amazing.

Ito-san’s individual PV and the art she did while being a member even before I joined is something I really looked up to.

After joining, I drew self portraits, and because I liked looking at it I listened to a lot of Ito-san’s stories.

 And I’m so glad that I was able to go see this solo-exhibition!

I haven’t seen her since the 10th YEAR BIRTHDAY LIVE, and this is the first time I’ve talked to her, she was so kind, and on top of that she’s like so absolutely downright beautiful (  ᵒ̴̷͈ωᵒ̴̶̷͈ )✨️

Each page of the illustrated book had a different aura to it, thank you for kindly welcoming me.

 I’ve been to many exhibitions for people that I know, but it’s been a long time since I’ve been swallowed up by such powerful repesenations. Having that sensation was really nostalgic!

Ever since becoming an idol this world is something that I forgot about, which one is really my true reality? Where are my dreams? I became kind of lost

Return to Shirogasu Island

I have been watching My friend stream this game lately, and it is like, the definition of a Hidden gem 

the best way I can describe it, so far, is that it's kinda like Danganronpa put into a more ‘traditional’ Whodunnit plot, and if the 'Worst Boi'(The Byakuya or Nagito type, namely the former) was the Protagonist, it follows a detective who goes undercover investigating the death/supposed suicide of a wealthy man, going the Island which the man had been invited too. Meeting several other guests with there own sorts of Quirks, before a Guest ends up dying there and thus this has to be investigated as well.  I think that is the most I can say on the actual plot without delving mildly into spoilers.

The Detective is an Asshole and is oh so Hilarious for it, he has several insulting bits of narration, its nonchalantly dropped that he has ties to the Mafia, he is like, so horrible and the Banter he has with the character Neneko(Who acts...A Lot like Toko from DR srsly it's almost like she wrote this) is great. There is also a young girl named Aurora I think who he actually ends up being really sweet towards, which results in a Dynamic like, as Austa put it comparing him with Aurora to him with everyone else 

I have not finished the Game, so this is not really a Full review, but it is great so far and my Friend who has gone further said the rest is good too. Its funny, charming, has an interesting and entertaining story and Characters, and it is so damn underrated it does not even have a tv tropes page, seriously give this damn game more love

Shenanigans in the Grand Order, Valentine's 2022 part 1

I've been having a discussion with @metalgear2solidsnake on which characters are likely to make it into SW5, so here's my personal take, for fun :D!

Confirmed

Nobunaga: just have to say I've been dying to see young Nobunaga in an SW game. thank you koei I love him. im crying

Mitsuhide: pretty big change design-wise (though at least his face and VA seem to be intact haha), so we know they're not shying away from shaking things up!

Nouhime: okay, not technically confirmed, but the butterfly hairpin, the purple colors, and the dagger just gives her away. seems to be a younger, perhaps more tragic incarnation of Nouhime, and it's clear they're still going for the assassin angle -- very intrigued to see what they do with her!

Semi-confirmed

Hideyoshi: the guy we see in the trailer is highly likely to be Hideyoshi. He has Toyotomi colors (yellow!) and the smirk gives off a young Hideyoshi vibe, too.

Ieyasu: mostly confirmed (blue + Tokugawa mon) by recent screenshot, and the most drastic redesign by far. Ieyasu has mostly been portrayed quite sympathetically by Koei but has never been well-liked, so this may change things up!

Highly likely to appear

Oichi: she's a no-brainer. Koei are bound to want female characters to include, and her ties to the Oda are obvious. Oichi actually brings up how different Nobunaga used to be when he was younger in WO3, and if they can play up the estranged siblings tragedy aspect of their relationship, I think we could get something very interesting here. She's also a character Koei could very well change up a lot if they wanted to, because historically, Nobunaga actually described her as being rather warrior-like.

Nagamasa: since Oichi is so likely, I'd argue Nagamasa is as well, unless she's changed up a lot (which is still possible).

Nene: Nene is the most likely identity of the woman who appears in the trailer for a few reasons: for one, her outfit has fishnets, suggesting a ninja a la old SW Nene; two, she appears shortly after Hideyoshi is shown, again suggesting a possible link; and three, while she's quite different from the SW Nene we know (orange hair!?), she's still probably the closest fit. Nene as an Oda officer would allow for Koei to explore her friendship with Nobunaga, too!

Shingen: likely pick for a total redesign and a major adversary of the Oda. Surely has to be in.

Kenshin: if Shingen is in, then so is Kenshin, I'd say. Kenshin is someone who's design Koei could turn upside down, given historical accounts of him looking like a woman.

Fairly likely to appear

Toshiie: an important Oda officer, but SW has never utilized him well and with young Hideyoshi already giving off Toshiie vibes, I wouldn't be shocked if he's skipped over. :(

Katsuie: much like Toshiie, Katsuie is also a character SW has often struggled to really include in its storylines. The whole "second marriage" deal with Oichi feels like something Koei have always poked at but never fully went into. (Don't get me wrong, SW actually has a good amount of Oichi/Katsuie content in its side games, but it's always been very ambiguous whether or not it's reciprocated, which makes me wonder...)

Magoichi: Mago could easily be played up as one of Nobunaga's adversaries again, but he's not a must for his story, so I've got him at fairly likely.

Tadakatsu or Hanzou: with Ieyasu confirmed, they'll surely want him to have one or two retainers. Tadakatsu or Hanzou (or even both!) seem like the safest bets.

Hanbei / Kanbei: Hideyoshi will also want retainers, and ryoubei have always been massively popular (especially Hanbei). I don’t see one getting in without the other, so I’ve put both here. (Kanbei is more likely to get a significantly different redesign of the two...)

Masamune: very iconic historical figure, and I could see a younger Masamune making an appearance here (though maybe not quite as young as SW1 Masamune...)

May or may not appear

Ranmaru: a lot of people view Ran as a shoo-in, but I don’t, for several reasons. For one, the game clearly wants to focus on Nobunaga’s relationships with Mitsuhide and Nouhime (these are the three featured characters on the cover art, even), which means Ran could “interfere” with the focus on these relationships, hence making him redundant. In fact, SW has -- to my chagrin! -- never properly delved into his relationship with Nobunaga, so why would they do so now? Further, Ran isn’t really in need of a reboot from a design standpoint (though they could do interesting things with him gameplay-wise, the big sword was always unwieldy :P). Given all this, I wouldn’t be surprised if Koei decide it’s simpler to cut him entirely.

Motochika: kind of a similar issue to the above; SW Motochika has always been very close to Mitsuhide, which could be construed as superfluous in a game that wishes to focus on Nobunaga and Mitsuhide’s relationship instead. I’m hoping I’m wrong here, because I’ve always enjoyed SW Motochika, but I think he’s a “maybe”.

Keiji: if Toshiie is in, then I think Keiji is fairly likely to be included as well; if not, I think he’s just a maybe.

Masayuki / Yukimura: Shingen will want retainers, and I think one of these two is the most likely pick. Masayuki makes more sense for the time period, but Yukimura has the bonus of, well, being ex-poster boy Yukimura.

Kanetsugu / Aya: most likely retainers for Kenshin. Maybe we’ll get both?

Gracia: Gracia with young Mitsuhide seems a bit awkward, so I think she may only get in if Koei decide to include an aging system as they did in Sanadamaru, which isn’t a guarantee. However, she’s massively popular, which increases her chances.

Ina: I could see her returning if Tadakatsu does, but her old weapon choice seems pointless now that Nou has a bow as well, so she’s very much a “maybe”. She might end up with a big redesign if she’s back, at least gameplay-wise.

Mitsunari: literally the most popular character in the series, which is really the only reason why he’s here. SWC3 experimented a bit with Mitsunari as a retainer in Hideyoshi’s earlier days, so Koei have been willing to include him in the earlier Sengoku period before. Probably not a long shot at all.

Sakon / Yoshitsugu: again, characters who are popular at least partly due to their links to Mitsunari. If Mitsunari is in, I expect at least one of these two to make a comeback.

Probably won't appear

Characters who are either less popular, or who make little sense for the time period, or who lack a strong link to the Nobunaga/Mitsuhide focus:

Goemon, Okuni, Kunoichi, Yoshihiro, Toyohisa, Ginchiyo, Muneshige, Kotarou, Musashi, Kojirou, Kiyomasa, Kaihime, Ujiyasu, Motonari, Masanori, Takatora, Naotora, Naomasa, Munenori, Nobuyuki, Hisahide, Kojuurou, Kagekatsu, Takakage, Hayakawa, Koshoushou

Possible new additions

These are all women for the simple reason that I fully expect Koei to want to balance out the male/female character ratio at least a little bit.

Matsu: if Toshiie is in, I’m hoping to see her! :D

Chiyome Mochizuki: would make a lot of sense for a Takeda retainer, esp if Kunoichi is gone.

Ikeda Sen: if Ran is in, she’s entirely possible.

Personally I feel servant redesign has been done painfully to death. That said originals are always intrigueing due to them being the what ifs. I would Love to see Ikeda Sen (Wife of Mori Nagayoshi) as an Archer. Francis Barrett as a caster and Scaevola as a berserker (He LITERALLY put his fist into a hot fire to show his conviction, If that doesn't count as a berserker, I don't know what does).

I... the post was about drawings I've already started working on? That's why they're called "works in progress" after all.

Otherwise I would've asked for suggestions of new figures.

family things about mori nagayoshi

the mori-clan is an off-shoot clan of the genji clan. hi auntie raikou

his wife ikeda sen was an onna-bugeisha (woman warriors trained alongside samurai) who commanded her own all-women unit of 200 muskeeters. when he says in myroom about kagetora that he gets twice the points for defeating strong women it’s prolly cuz He Really Looks Up To Strong Women

his wife was given her own land and received her own fief. there’s also apparently a section of his will that’s commonly mistranslated, in which he gave part of his inheritance to her, expressing his respect to her and establishing that they were in equal standing

he became the head of his clan when he was only 13, after his father passed away in battle. with 15 he was wholly serving under the oda clan and involved in serious battles. that’s why the use of his childhood name (katsuzou) is so prevalent, in case anyone wondered

his notorious first battle when he killed 27 by himself took place when he was only 16.

besides ranmaru (naritoshi) he had 3 more brothers: tadamasa, boumaru and rikimaru. nagayoshi was the eldest. tadamasa is the only one of his younger siblings who didn’t die during the honnoji incident, fortunately having been sent back by nobunaga for noticing him being too young for military service. 

nagayoshi had a single and very young daughter before he passed away, her name was okou. for feels refer to this comic

in his will, he wished for her to be married to someone noble and reasonable like the townpeople’s doctor so that she would stay away from the dangers of battles. during his valentine he alludes to this part of his will by telling his master the same, that they should better hook up with a doctor than hang out with warriors like him who might suddenly die in battle
