ah man, think it's time to try to summarize everything and apologize LMAO;; ty for asking though, i should've made things less confusing! this will be a Pretty lengthy post for irl context/backstory and "actual au" info so be ready if you want to read everything!

(for starters, the title's just a pun on the philosophical phrase "ghost in the machine" interpreted Literally and taking inspiration from clay in ac revelations, since he Was a ghost in a machine and jokingly called "my guardian angel" by des, haha)

the short version: basically, "ghosts in the machine" is what i've called the au(?) where i just doodle silly "artist talking to her art muse(s)" stuff like these kinds of comics instead w me,, the ""art muse"" is whatever i'm hyperfixated on (currently desmond, the assassin brotherhood as a whole, and alex/prototype lmao):

the Full LONG version: when replaying prototype and ac awhile back, i also posted fanart on LOFTER (china’s local version of tumblr) and made a mainlander mutual/friend who drew fanart too, like her oc w the assassins in an animal shapeshifter 刺客信条乙女向 (assassin’s creed otome) au! as i’m vietnamese-american and she’s chinese, we use translators and send pictures/doodles to talk about the games and our days, and when i was replaying prototype, she started ac2 too and sent me this as commentary:

from there, whenever we’d text or send pics/art, it became a running joke of sorts to also include our ""game companions"" like that fanfiction thing of “author’s note where the author and fictional characters comment on the situation and/or talk to each other”, and my doodles also became us or our computers being accompanied by them LMAO;; that’s pretty much the origin and setting of the particular doodles; just the daily shenanigans and art struggles of an artist (me and her) talking to their art muses (characters from special interests) haunting them and their computers

as for the "supernatural" aspects, at some point desmond and alex got drawn an as angel and devil because i’ve had ridiculous “protected by a guardian angel” luck lately like surviving a car crash unharmed, they’re my favorites and associated with me, the motifs match the duo, etc, it's not really that deep and/or for a "Lore Reason";;

likewise, the brotherhood got drawn as ghosts to emphasize the “we/our computers are haunted by them” joke more, along with how my friend and i are both asian and used to like ghosts and ancestral worship casually being a part of our lives already LMAO (ig in the context of the au then, they’re basically desmond’s ancestral spirits disney-mulan-style that freeload off of his vietnamese protectee (me) for both spiritual veneration or "worship" like staying relevant in this modern age via fanart)

for example, i'm also considering drawing like altair, ezio, connor, and edward as the vietnamese four holy beasts just to play around, things like that! there's no special lore reason aside from just personal thoughts and "oh that'd be fun to draw", they just thematically fit well being four prominent “legends” and being desmond's ancestors, etc,, haha

at the end of the day, "ghosts in the machine" are just silly shenanigans of me drawing what's on my mind, from who/what i'm hyperfixated on (aka impromptu art muses for me), any thoughts/frustrations i have w daily life or drawing stuff,, and "hm this sounds cool, i could draw this design or Cool Thing" stuff. it's not really an au persay (plus i still really cringe and feel self-consciously wary about the embarrassing self-insert aspect of all this, help lmao), it’s just,, just silly personal scribblings that are kind of sharing an inside joke to everyone now, but i'm happy to know people still humor these silly drawings and are curious if there's more to it, thank you!

Opinion/headcannon for Clay/Desmond or Protocreed?

As someone who ships Desmond with anyone, I approve of both of these.

Have some headcanons/opinions, nonny!

Clay/Desmond:

They would understand one another the most in the modern day because they are both Animus Subjects who get fucked by Juno in one way or another

They both see each other as broken but they don’t think they can ‘fix’ them. Instead, they believe they can be there for each other and they’re hoping that would be enough. (That, in turn, is what helps them get through the bad days)

Clay can’t help but be jealous of Desmond because of how easy it is for him to synch with his Bleeds and have a more symbiotic relationship with them

In a full-on Modern AU, they’re likely to be a ‘friends-to-lovers’ sort of couple or what started out as friends with benefits kind of deal.

If Desmond is the one time-traveling, saving Clay would be on his ‘to do’ list and their relationship will deepen over the course of Clay helping this mysterious person who seemed to know more than he’s telling and is really bad at asking for help

If Clay is the one time-traveling, Clay’s main point is to fuck with Juno and the Isu’s plans (and also make Abstergo pay). Desmond is meant to be a means to an end or, at the very least, that’s what Clay would tell himself but that’s not really true.

Clay is definitely the type to go ‘fuck the world’ if it means saving Desmond.

If they did have a relationship during AC Revelations, it would be something fast and passionate, more of a moment of passion brought by loneliness and fear over what would happen if the Synch Nexus didn’t work. Any romantic overtures will be minimal and it’ll be more of a playful friends-with-benefits kind of deal. Although, Desmond would never forget the moments he shared with Clay and any attempts to revive/bring back Clay in this scenario would have a longing that Desmond is unfamiliar with.

ProtoCreed (Alex/Desmond):

In a world where both Prototype and Assassin’s Creed coexist in harmony in terms of lore and storyline, the OG Alex Mercer will have definitely met Desmond Miles before.

If Bad Weather is a nightclub, it was a one-time deal where Alex just accompanied some officemates when he was just starting out at Gentek to the club because they insisted. If Bad Weather is an upscale bar, he’s one of the regulars who order once and just nurses it for the rest of his stay there. Either way, OG Alex doesn’t even remember Desmond.

When the shit in Manhattan goes down, Alex is attracted to Desmond because of his genes. The abnormally concentrated Isu genes are making the Zeus virus go “Hhmmm. Information? Mutation? Go check???”

Desmond sees Alex shapeshifting and his first thoughts are “… I wanna say Abstergo experimenting with POE gone wrong… let’s see what happens if I touch it?”

They’re two dumbasses who know the other person is dangerous but there’s… a sexual tension to all their interactions.

They’re also reluctant allies who share information and help each other out because they have similar goals (Alex: find out the truth, Desmond: see if Gentek has any POEs or any dealings with Abstergo)

Desmond wouldn’t care about Alex’s true identity. He wouldn’t even care about who the real Alex Mercer is. To him, Alex is just Alex. So he’s an actual virus, he’s the goddamn chosen one of an advanced civilization that got wiped out by the freaking sun. They all have their issues.

Alex is protective of Desmond even if he knows that Desmond can take care of himself. He will level an entire military base if he even smells Desmond’s blood in the air. (even if Desmond is a dumbass who just got a papercut checking the documents while he was 100% sneaking inside)

Desmond, on the other hand, believes Alex can take anything. He’ll worry like hell but, at the same time, he knows that Alex will always come back to him.

This is one couple that an ending of ‘to be completely and wholly one’ is certainly not out of the table but a lot of shit has to happen to get that dark.

Tentacle sex. Tentacle sex. Tentacle sex. Bitey bitey tentacle sex.

These two are kinky and they make use of Alex’s shapeshifting ability to do weird sex stuff.

[PROTOTYPE]2 does not exist. I don’t know what you’re talking about. Alex Mercer’s story ended with one game.

Love how some fandoms has The Crossover. Just some fandoms fit together so well or are so opposite, it'd be hilarious if they happened.

Like, for a perfect compatibility one, we can use Assassin's Creed and Prototype. They just fit together so well and it's pretty easy to beliveable add the lore into what happened in canon. Plus, the Desmond/Alex Mercer ship being called Almond is just too cute for our two chaos murder goblins. XD

On the opposite side, the "these 2 worlds are so far apart it would be hilarious if they met" one. My example is Fullmetal Alchemist and goddamned Harry Potter. Just throwing one of the FMA characters into the HP world and see them have a mental breakdown at all the rules being broken by magic is just too fucking funny to me. XD It's also "easily" incorporated by using the Truth as the excuse for this to happen.

Another one that i love and that's more on the "perfect compatability" side of the crossover spectrum is Danny Phantom and the DC Universe(often Batman being the spotlight). Though this one is actually kinda hated, due to(what i think is the reason) flooding the phandom(nickname for the DP fandom ^^) with just crossover fics, to the point where people are blacklisting or filtering out any content featuring the crossover. Kinda sad it's happening 'cause alot the fics i've seen are awesome and it's one of those crossovers, that once it has happened, it just makes sense to keep doing it and exploring what it could bring, especially with how big the DCU is. Though i totally get why people hate it too. You do you and as long as people tag correctly, everyone's happy. ^^

SIDE 1D: ROUND 1: Alex Mercer (Prototype)/Desmond Miles (Assassin’s Creed) VS Gandra Dee (Ducktales 2017)/Winter Schnee (RWBY)

Propaganda for Alex Mercer/Desmond Miles:

Desmond is pretty much my blorbo of all time but he’s also the poster child for learned helplessness fr. dude will subject himself to literally going insane because he was told to (yeah yeah saving the world. shut up he deserves to be happy). He’s also high-key the chosen one of all of human history and the only thing it gets him is kidnapped, crazy, and dead. So he dies to save the world, a million angels weeping etc. Meanwhile Alex is literally a supervirus cosplaying as a guy and had low/no empathy even when he was human. (He also tries to take over the world in game 2 but he’s allowed to as a treat). So obvi parallels with the great power great responsibility and being tortured for science reasons But they handle it very differently. Alex eats people, takes over all of manhattan and slamdunks a nuke into Long Island Sound. So yeah character Foils and I think Des deserves someone who treats him as top priority instead of the Greater Good and that Alex is that someone.

Propaganda for Gandra Dee/Winter Schnee:

Yet another DTLS ship (holy fuck I put three of them on this side of the bracket, I am SO SORRY, that was an accident), but this time it's GIRLIES. Anyway so I wanted to bring Gandra into the AU, but in canon she ends up with Fenton. Which, obviously, could not happen as he is in a relationship with his then-boyfriend, now-fiancé with a kid

So we were like 'Well, we have a perfectly good lesbian in the form of Winter to ship her with' and there we were~! I can only write for Gandra's side of things, but she was currently still dealing with some old feelings about Fenton, mainly being happy for him that he found someone good for him while she ended up getting tangled up in FOWL's schemes (in this AU she doesn't switch sides until FOWL is already gone), but she bites and bullet and decides that there's no sense in living in the past and lamenting the one who got away. Not when there's a perfectly nice woman so interested in her, she ends up short-circuiting the first time she sees Gandra and quickly has to leave.

Also it's cute because she ends up befriending/staying with Clover and Fenton due to a lack of housing, so she's also still buddies with both her ex and her ex's boyfriend, aka someone very near and dear to Winter (one might even say a brother :) ). Their relationship still has places to go and blossom, but they're really cute together.

What made you ship it? - They both have very strong chemistry between each other - both Sam and Raiden. I just looked at a few pictures and memes on google, and they made me realize that Sam and Raiden definitely should be together. It also became my comfort pairing, so I could distance myself from my own toxic relationship (fortunately, it is over now). Who would have known that in the end, SamuRaiden and mgr fandom changed my life for good? After so many years of feeling pathetic, feeling that I was not worthy to exist, these two blorbos brought me back to life. I have people to share my thoughts and love about Sam and Raiden, I received so much feedback I never had before. Moreover, I met my bf thanks to this fandom and the pairing, it is more than anything I ever wanted. This means the world to me. Thinking about them being together, loving each other helps me to get distracted from my own self-deprecation.

What are your favorite things about the ship? - Their dynamic, the possibilities of various romance scenarios or even mgr2 plot. Sam and Raiden are so different yet have so much in common, including being rivals who try to fight for different ideals. Sam's charisma is very strong, yet I feel that he has a very deep trauma behind it. It is more of my hcs, and I can relate to him in my own way, considering how I love his theme song that basically opens him up as a character who chose the wrong side. And I see him as a protagonist, more than Raiden, about whom, btw I had a very erroneous view. Fortunately, after playing MGR and MGS2 I know him better. He is a broken man, who may never recover from everything he has been through. If his ambitions require destroying the world - he may go for it, that is why I feel that Sam may be the only one who could stop it. Raiden is an anti-hero, who is not easy to "tame" if I may say so. Yet, I feel that Sam could handle that because he has been through that himself (I presume). This ship may be toxic from different perspectives, but I want it to be healthy and so that characters could heal by complementing each other and teaming up to achieve common goals.

Is there an unpopular opinion you have on your ship?

I don't really know what are the popular opinions about these two. My take is that I probably want to partially avoid Raiden's "unhealthy and toxic" side that would ruin everything because of him acting like an asshole (not the Ripper, rather just the situations when he acts like this) because it feels threatening to me personally. I want him to work through it and be better than this and reach to Sam as much as he reaches to him. So that he would feel more "human" than an augmented cyborg. In my fanfic I question a lot of what is it like to be a human and feel such simple things as love or sympathy (which Raiden never had). I want Raiden to experience it, to endure it as much as Sam. I also want to see his more soft and vulnerable side, when he lets Sam care about him. And the most important, to put the whole relationship in a more realistic perspective, where it is not perfect, where they both have their fears and problems, but they find the strength to carry on together.

Raiden is strong, but inside he is a scared and broken child. He does not know any other ways to protect himself, he is impulsive, filled with anger and hatred towards everyone and everything. He needs psychological help and guidance.

To sum up: SamuRaiden is a ship that changed my life. I love it with my whole heart and I want to think that the love between these two helped them to overcome their demons and have a healthy and more or less happy life. Like what happened to me.

AlexDes (Alex Mercer x Desmond Miles) - Assassin's Creed x Prototype Crossover

What made you ship it? - It was long time ago. I saw some pictures with both of them and it made me melt. I could never imagine that it is possible to make a crossover with hooded guys :D They also made me play Assassin's Creed series and Prototype. Desmond had to become an assassin against his will. He is sick and tired of running away and he just wants to live a normal life. As for Alex..Well..Alex is not a human, he is a virus that took a form of a deceased scientist (as well as his memories). I thought it would be interesting to see how Desmond actually helps him to start everything over and gain more "human" side (again about this, I think I am into this topic too much). Alex is rude, cold and lacks empathy. He wants to know who he really is. His mystery would attract Desmond. They would have to escape their enemies together. That is what it makes this pairing unique to me.

What are your favorite things about this ship? - Alex getting them both into trouble and Desmond getting them out of it. Both of them looking for their purpose, questioning if they should save the world (AC3 ending) or leave it to die (I am not taking Prototype 2 into account because Alex is a complete antagonist in that game). Alex is entertained by Des, he tries to understand him. Also...He has some tendrils that could be used for different purposes... After overcoming some very hard obstacles, their bond just gets stronger and they fall for each other.

Unpopular opinion about this ship

When I was really hard into this ship, there was a part of the fandom who considered it is cool to put Desmond into horrible situations of being assaulted or "consumed" by Alex (I realize this only after all these years and I don't approve that part, fortunately, I haven't met anything connected with it lately). I hate that people try to portray Alex as a predator, and I would prefer not to see it anymore. Also, I don't see him as a bottom (another unpopular opinion).

In conclusion: ProtoCreed has a special place in my heart because it was one of the first fandom ships I got into and produced the content very actively before the end of 2012. I still have some feelings for them, yet I wanna put this ship into more "mature" perspective and make more interesting and realistic scenarios of their relationship development. Many things changed from that old times and I don't really wanna come back there.

POR QUÉ NO LOS DOS - although with only a couple headcanons bc I'd definitely like to plot both of these things, because there are people with much deeper knowledge on both/either who could help add detail's or pitch more ideas so pls, giMME-

Prototype

The first thing that popped into my head upon reading "Prototype" was, someone making a connection between web of intrigue victims, piecing stuff together, and sending out a contract that's essentially "It seems like Mercer wanted these people for a reason, here's the possible upcoming lineup, find them and take them out before he can get his germy hands on them".

Panic isn't generally a thing for him. Shit happens, he takes it in stride and adapts, simple as that. But, having him face-to-face with something inhuman, something so powerful he can't even fathom, something that, for a change, puts him in the prey position...that fear is almost palpable, and it'd be the one situation he doesn't have a clue how to handle. People he knows. People he can take down and eliminate if they become a nuisance, but viral mutants? Nah, fam, that's beyond his pay grade.

On the flip side, that kind of chaos could make for some interesting fixer gigs. Someone's always going to want someone else dead, "oops, this is important and now it's in a Red Zone" etc etc. There's also the notion of hacking Gentek, or even Blackwatch, and while Jordi isn't the one to do it, he's got access to a wide array of people who can, some of whom owe him some BIG favors.

Not...gonna lie, I may have had a fleeting thought about what might happen if a certain someone ended up like the Evolved. Someone with a sadistic streak well before he had those insane abilities, and then suddenly, s u r p r i s e~ But, y'know. It's just a thought

Assassin's Creed

Ubisoft can deny it 'til they're all blue in the face, but I'm adamant that Watch Dogs and Assassin's Creed are the same verse, just focused on different aspects of it.

I stand by Blume and Abstergo being intertwined, or at the very least vaguely allied with each other. And you know, Jordi's got some friends who might be really in that, but whoops, rooting around uncovers that whole rabbit hole and holy shit what did I step in with you people -

Not much about Jordi would actually change. He'd still be a go-to guy, and not strictly for either side. Whoever coughs up the most cash has his loyalty and everything that entails

There are incredibly many features packed into this one device, it's not to fall for each other with the spec sheet alone. For Assassins Creed Odyssey Setup , the HTC Evo 4G comes with a 8-megapixel camera that can record HD video at 720p settlement. Couple that with a front facing camera for video conntacting loved ones, and that should be enough to satisfy even the most tech hungry crowd. Video chat, by the way, is another first for people phones. Enjoyable doesn't hang on a minute though. Is that convenient and super awesome, or is it just plain creepy that Google contains the potential to poke and pry into every involving your every day? Is it just an Android tablet or does it look world domination?

I think that Dr. Alexander J. Mercer and Alex Mercer are both terrible people but in different directions, and all it does it make them fucking fruity and fun to play as in [prototype]

Desmond is in that morally grey area where he would like to have the moral high ground but he's been trained to be indifferent to death, as he was trained to be the cause of it, so he'll be like "that's fucked up" in response to some shit either Alex would say and then go back to eating his food. Like nothing happened

Cross Our Hearts 2021

Okay, so I thought I’d have a go at writing. I’ve debated it for a while and this seemed like a good opportunity. Any feedback is welcome!

Day 1 - Angst

Games: Prototype/Assassin’s Creed (Protocreed)

The past few months had been pretty crazy for Desmond. After saving the entire planet, it was decided that a change of scene for him and his fellow Assassins would be nice; and so they now had a hideout in Manhattan. It was a decently sized, abandoned apartment. As their luck would have it, they decided to show up just as a viral outbreak had ravaged the city.  The virus on it’s own was bad enough, but a few days into their stay they had learned that two organisations involved (Gentek and Blackwatch) were riddled with Templars. For Desmond, this meant many missions, a few injuries, two or three surprise encounters with the infected (during which he absolutely did NOT scream) and a lot of meetings to summarise each mission. 

Oh, and he met a super-powered virus freak.

He remembered the moment vividly. He’d managed to sneak into a Gentek facility and was making his way back out with the information he’d gotten his hands on. As Desmond was leaving, an alarm started blaring throughout the entire building, accompanied by red flashing lights. Desmond paused, wondering if he had been the one to set off the alarm. He turned over his shoulder just in time to see a group of armed Blackwatch soldiers round the corner. His stomach sank - he was good at fighting, but he was guy with a blade attached to his arm. He froze and watched as the soldiers ran towards his hiding place in the shadows, getting closer, so close he could hear their heavy breathing...

And then they ran straight past him. Puzzled, Desmond turned to follow their path with his eyes. He was met with a sight that made his heart leap into his throat. A man, just a bit shorter than Desmond, stood opposite the soldiers, who had now stopped. The man was wearing a pair of jeans, a black and red leather jacket, a hoodie (wasn’t that funny?), and a shirt with the collar up. Weird. However, this is not what drew Desmond’s attention, for when he looked at the soldier closest to this man, he saw a blade sticking out through his back. A long blade, almost as long as he was tall, coming from the man’s arm. No, it was the man's arm. He was too shocked to move. He stood and watched in horror as the man cut the soldiers to pieces like wet tissue paper, the once grey hallway newly painted red with blood.

Naturally, they got to talking, and it turned out they both hated the Templars. Well, Alex (the man had awkwardly introduced himself) hated Blackwatch and Gentek. But it didn’t take much discussion for them to realise they were more or less on the same side. Alex helped Desmond through the increased security so that he could get out of the base with his precious info. Then, Alex gave him the number to a phone he’d gotten hold of and left almost as quickly as he’d appeared not ten minutes ago.

Fast forward a couple of months (and a lot of missions) down the line and Desmond was sort of friends with Alex. He said sort of, because Alex would never admit it. But Alex was friendly with him. What Desmond initially interpreted as rudeness was actually social awkwardness. Alex wasn’t deliberately a dick - not most of the time, anyway. He just didn’t have a clue about how to talk to people. And he had a good reason, Desmond thought. Alex wasn’t human; he was the Blacklight virus. He was made to be a killing machine. He was a killing machine- a pretty damn good one, too. Alex never stopped. He was in his element surrounded by enemies. He didn’t sleep and he couldn’t stay in the same space for a long time. He’d soon grow restless. Despite all this, he’d developed his own mind and thoughts.

So when Desmond found him sat on top of a roof, looking rather still apart from his swinging legs, he knew something was wrong.

“Hey, buddy. You been parkouring without me?“ Desmond called out softly, hoping he’d be able to lighten the gloomy mood that seemed to be clinging to Alex.

Alex didn’t answer.

“Alex?“ Desmond moved to sit beside the virus-man, a concerned expression falling over his face. He was answered only with a soft grunt from the other. “Hey, what’s wrong, Alex?“

“Nothing. I’m fine.“ Alex replied in a voice not too dissimilar to a growl - his normal tone of voice.

Desmond pulled a face. “Dude, I know you enough by now to know that you sitting up here alone means you’re thinking about something. Probably not something good. Knowing you, something horrible, actu-”

“Shut up.“ Alex snapped. He shifted just enough that the light of a nearby billboard lit up his face, allowing Desmond to see his expression. He’d expected Alex to look angry, or maybe even confused. But Alex, he looked... he looked miserable. 

“Whoa, hey... I’m sorry. Seriously, Alex, what’s wrong? You look really upset.“ For a moment, Desmond debated putting an arm around Alex, but decided he liked his arm where it was - meaning, attached to his body - and thought better of it. 

Alex turned his head away to hide his face from Desmond. He stayed silent for a few minutes. Desmond sat by him, also silent, waiting patiently for Alex to answer. Then finally...

“I never got a chance.“ Alex mumbled, his voice uncharacteristically soft.

“A chance to what, Alex?“ Desmond spoke gently. The last thing he wanted to do was scare Alex off by interrogating him.

“Be human.“ Alex sighed heavily, then lifted his head slightly to get a better view of the people walking on the street below. “I have so many memories. Happy memories... But they’ll never be mine. I had a cross-hair on my back the moment I woke up in the morgue because... I’m a monster.“ The last few words were spoken so quietly they were almost a whisper. And, oh, if Alex looked miserable before, now he looked like he might cry. 

“Oh, Alex...“ And before he could stop himself, Desmond was gently pulling Alex into an awkward sideways hug. Alex tensed immediately and Desmond felt tendrils squirming uncomfortably under his arms. He was about to pull away when he felt the squirming stop, then Alex practically melted into his hold.

Alex was slightly cold to the touch, which surprised Desmond. He’d always thought Alex would be warm. For a moment, Desmond couldn’t fathom how Alex had refrained from chopping his head off, let alone how he had managed to relax. Then it hit him... This was the first time in this Alex’s life that he’d ever had any physical contact that wasn’t intended to hurt him. This was the first time he'd felt comfort from another. Even though he'd never admit it, Alex needed this.

“Alex, you are not a monster. You aren’t the mindless killer that they tried to make you into. You hear me?” Desmond spoke quietly. He didn’t get a verbal reply, but he suddenly had two cold arms wrapped around him and a head resting on his shoulder.

“Hey, we have the day off tomorrow. How about we stay in and watch a movie or something? Would you like that?“ Desmond asked tentatively. 

“Yeah, I’d like that.“ Alex mumbled into Desmond’s shoulder. 

They stayed like that for a while afterwards before Desmond eventually coaxed Alex into the hideout to lay down on the couch. Desmond covered him with a fluffy blanket, which earned him a funny look from Alex. Desmond only chuckled at this as he sat beside Alex. He talked quietly to Alex about completely random subjects. Alex relaxed at this, even gave some sarcastic comments where he could. Eventually, Desmond paused his rambling to check the time. 12:43am. Damn.

“Hey, Alex, I’m gonna hit the hay. You okay with that, or do you want me to stay?“ He heard no reply. “Alex?“ He turned to look toward the couch. The sight he was met with was very unexpected.

There was Alex, asleep. Desmond smiled softly  and moved to pull the blanket up to Alex’s shoulders. It seemed he was out cold, completely unaware of the world around him.

“Goodnight, Alex.“ Desmond whispered, before leaving to go to his bed. He fell asleep quickly. He was tired, but he was also happy that Alex had finally found peace.

...Or so it had seemed. Desmond awoke not long later to the sound of distressed yell, followed by tearing and hurried footsteps. He wasn’t the only one that heard it, because soon, he was running out of his room along with Rebecca, Lucy, and Shaun. The other three got a slight head start on him. Desmond looked to the other Assassins, who had their eyes fixed on the couch, all wearing worried expressions. Desmond moved forward to follow their gaze.

He saw an empty couch with several long, deep claw marks in it. A quick scan of the room and a wide open window confirmed his worries:

Alex was gone.

Propaganda for Alex Mercer/Desmond Miles:

Desmond is pretty much my blorbo of all time but he’s also the poster child for learned helplessness fr. dude will subject himself to literally going insane because he was told to (yeah yeah saving the world. shut up he deserves to be happy). He’s also high-key the chosen one of all of human history and the only thing it gets him is kidnapped, crazy, and dead. So he dies to save the world, a million angels weeping etc. Meanwhile Alex is literally a supervirus cosplaying as a guy and had low/no empathy even when he was human. (He also tries to take over the world in game 2 but he’s allowed to as a treat). So obvi parallels with the great power great responsibility and being tortured for science reasons But they handle it very differently. Alex eats people, takes over all of manhattan and slamdunks a nuke into Long Island Sound. So yeah character Foils and I think Des deserves someone who treats him as top priority instead of the Greater Good and that Alex is that someone.

🌌 - What fandoms are you in? 👀👀

Right now literally just the Arcana, phahah, because of my studies and investment into my MCs I don't really have the energy for others atm.

Actually, I don't think I've ever been as active in other fandoms as I am with the Arcana. Unless you count Flight Rising, I suppose, though I didn't do much writing/art for it. I still play FR a bit, but don't interact with the fandom much.

Aside from those two, there are Dragon Age and Mass Effect, I return to them once in a while, mostly hanging out on Discord servers. A while ago I've been in Assassin's Creed and Prototype fandoms, but I abandoned them both a bit after the release of AC III. Might replay AC II someday tho, that trilogy was great.

Most of the time I prefer to enjoy games/series by myself and maybe look at some fanworks afterwards and gush about them with a friend or two.
