I love that bell hooks style academic speaking cadence. It’s so gone now. Nowadays public intellectuals speak like different cartoons from the 90s. Daria, inspector gadget, rugrats etc.

re: favorite Argento: Impossible question to answer. Everyone loves Suspiria, that makes it the most rewatchable, I watched it five nights in a row when I first discovered it. And it was Daria's story!
Tenebre is one you only have to watch once but it is unlike anything you'll ever experience. Early 80's Italian Decadence feat. trans icon Eva Robin's
The correct answer must be Terror At The Opera. No more homages to Mario Bava's set design and colors. But there is Inspector Michele Soavi! and Daria Nicolodi’s greatest scene ever. The soundtrack is absolutely perfect (Brian and Roger Eno + some really sick power metal tracks, way better fit than Iron Maiden in Phenomena tbh). You can feel the danger of the needles taped over your eyelids, feel the antagonist stalking you when you leave the theatre. It fucks, relentlessly!

This is set in superhero au of me and my friends.
My friend Daria was locked in a eternal dream. She locked herself there so she wouldn't have to deal with the hardships of our world. She was the leader of our bunch.
Me and my best friend got into her dream and were also locked there. We could have left but that meant that we would never return.
We were basically asking her why would she run away from us and our responsabilities to protect this city we live in. But Daria erased her memories about recent events and couldn't remember. I was also forgetting why i was mad at her and wanted to stay there.
My best friend left the dream without telling me or Daria anything.
The food was delicious. There was a jelly desert that was moderately sweet with a tiny bit of sourness to it it was lime in colour and medium well steak which i usually hate but it was done super super well and had a wonerful collection of spices. Daria brought that food. We ate before something i cooked amd even though i have a reputation of a great chef, it wasn't even close. Actually before that i made the same type of jelly desert!
There were dream inspectors inside the dream checking for people illegally sneaking into other peoples dreams. I was trying to hide in the attics ceiling. I had to reset time twice for it to work. Firstly i just hid there and put up a curtain of wallpaper. I though beacuse it was so high abowe noone would touch it. I was wrong. It was touched and i was found.
The second time the inspector lady kept making jokes and o couldn't hold my laughter and was outed. The old lady tore right through drywall it was scary.

Inspector Daria from Touch Detective would submit the Most Mediocre Item! She’s unfortunate to a point where the item would be good enough to be palletable, but bad enough to not make it notable.

The Evolution of Animated Series from PAPATON Studio on Vimeo.
The year 2019 marks the 100th anniversary of the cartoon series as a genre. To celebrate this amazing fact, we’ve created a video about how cartoon series evolved through the century.
We’re sure everyone knows at least some of these but let’s see how many you’ve actually watched. Huge thanks to everyone who’s helped create this video and especially to those who’ve been doing all these wonderful cartoons all this time.

Why...why is the DS choice to rescue this young girl from the Kiliks?
They make it clear in the game that Joining is not something that most people sign up for. Daria Thul's expedition was ambushed and the inspectors are in cages, waiting to be Joined. They don't want to be there. There's another quest where you have to recover data from Imperial soldiers that have been forcibly cocooned to Join them. It's heavily implied that Vector did not have a choice but his Joining was deliberately facilitated by the Empire as part of a horrible experiment. When the Killiks want to take over House Cortess and mention that everyone can become a Joiner, they're not asking for volunteers, and the Cortess nobles plead with the Agent to save them. Vector also mentions that children Join, and I don't think they'd have the ability to truly consent to their brains being altered like this.
Even on the Republic side some of the quests involve saving people/houses from the Killiks.
All the Joiners say they're happy and at peace but OF COURSE they'd say that, they're now plugged into the hivemind/collective consciousness that thinks that what's happening is a great idea. and they've been exposed to pheromones and other chemicals that have changed their brains.
So saying “I respect your choice” in this case rings false to me because she hasn’t been given a choice, has essentially been brainwashed and is repeating the hivemind philosophy.
My first time through SWTOR I let her stay. Now that I have played a lot more I feel like that’s decision I just can’t make. If the quest happened before she was Joined and she told you “I actually do want to stay and be Joined, let me go,” I’d feel differently.
