Bit of a twist on the regular hybrid aus

A small percentage of people hybridise as their national/state animals because magic got reintroduced into the world a couple generations back

Soap is a Unicorn, Price, Gaz and Ghost are Lions and Roach is a Welsh dragon.

Graves and Alex are either bald eagles or long horns and Laswell is either a bald eagle, a calico cat or an Astrodon (a mother fucking dinosaur)

Farah is Phoenix and Hadir is a snow Leopard.

Alejandro and Rudy are Golden eagles and Valeria is a rattle snake.

People didn’t think Soap would do well in the military because of how Unicorns are traditionally viewed, sometimes he still cops flack for it.

People hate losing mythic hybrids so Soap Roach and Farah are treated differently then regular hybrids.

GREAT PREMIS LOVE THIS!!! This is a perfect idea with how to do hybrids.

Soap as a unicorn is based as FUCK!! Idk about Gaz, Ghost, and, Price all being lions but I don't hate it. I see Roach as Irish but a Welsh dragon is just as good.

Graves is a bald eagle, Alex is a long horn, and Laswell HAS to be the dinosaur I don't make the rules.

Farah as a phenix is perfect for a number of reasons and Hadir as a snow Lepard makes sense as well because of well...Russians.

Question, do you find it funny or do you find it annoying, when people who know very little about Finland, tell you what they know about Finland?

Not really. I understand that we're a small nation out there somewhere, the same way as I don't know much anything about Croatia or Papua New Guinea or how Tasmania is different from Australia except that it is in island.

I guess the only thing bothering me on English spoken online spaces, which are American dominated, is the "americazation" of everything; if it happens or has happened in USA, then it must (have) happen(ed) all around the world. If it hasn't happened in USA, then it hasn't happened anywhere else either. Every country has had the same problems and blessings as USA, and every country has faced the same challenges as USA. If not, (some) American people will call you a liar.

The biggest example from an European point of view of this americazation is slave markets and oppression. Try to explain that in the Europe, white people oppress other white people (ask Irish and Estonians about this!), white people are racists towards other white people (ask Finnish about Sweden's eugenicist views of Finns!), and how for example Finnish and Icelanders have been kidnapped and dragged to slave markets to Middle-East for hundreds of years. Here's a very fascinating saved recording of an Icelander man from 17th century of such an event. He and his villagers were captured by pirates and taken to Middle-East as slaves. He did well but not everyone else in his group did.

Finnish people hate Russians, especially in the East, but are OK with Germans because during WW2, when Soviet Union tried to invade us, Nazi Germany was the only country who wanted to help us (and we reluctantly accepted the help because the other option was to be invaded by Soviet Union). Trust me, we asked other countries, but no one else answered.

How this is present in nowadays is that if I told my East-Finnish parents that "Hey! I married a Russian man!" they would be really concerned about me and my safety due WW2 events. Just because he's a Russian. But if I told my parents I married a German man, they would be happy and no one would suspect that he must be an evil Nazi like in WW2.

This kind of oppression, racism, hate and so one are present in Europe (and in Asia and Africa) among people who look the same but happen to be from a wrong country or from a wrong religion. IRA and England being a really, really sad story about the topic of a wrong religion...

OH! One thing! One thing which bothers me is that people think Santa Claus lives in North Pole. No! Santa Claus lives in Korvatunturi in Lapland, Finland. There are no Santas on North Pole. Only polar bears which we don't have except in zoos.

Hi anon, thank you for your question! We like to talk about our species :)

Our "werewolves", or in general sentient (and sometimes humanoid) wolf-beast species, are divided in two categories:

Werewolves (genus Lupus) and Lycanthropes (genus Homolupus).

They're quite different from each other! In our version, werewolves can't (at least not naturally) transform into humans, while lycans are shapeshifters.

For reasons that we will talk about at length later, there are no very in-depth studies regarding the origins of this fascinating species, but it is believed that the most probable ancestor is the Xenocyon lycaonoides, a large canid that lived in the Pleistocene, between 1.8 million years and 30,000 years ago. Interestingly, werewolves share this (probable) common ancestor with aurolupus werewolves. According to some, repeated crossings with werewolves have over time modified the rough appearance of werewolves to bring them to the "version" known to us today, although they are not capable of changing shape, but this is only a theory that is not supported by many scholars.

The White Terror (extinct)

Narnia Headcanons: Archenland

- Has three major cities (Anvard, Perth, and Ende) and then several smaller towns and villages.

- The people are generally hardy and have a reputation for being tough from living in the mountains.

- Archenlanders have an affinity for magic due to most of the human inhabitants having dryad ancestors.

- Good magic practitioners are called Cunning Men or Cunning Women.

- Archenland was hidden by Cunning people during the reign of the White Witch.

- Some of Archenland's humans had ancestors from Finland, Ireland, Scotland. Greece, and France. This is most obvious given their naming conventions.

- They speak a pidgin language called Narn, which mixes English and Old Narnian. Their own language is called Archen, which is a very weird mix of Irish and Old Narnian.

- They have accents that sound Scottish.

- Everyone knows how to use a weapon of some sort due to coming into constant conflict with the Calormen Empire.

- Everyone is also taught survival skills from a young age and children are expected to be self-sufficient, which is why Corin is the way he is.

- Edmund learns Archen so he can talk to his wife's great-grandparents, who never learned Narn due to the reign of the witch.

- Edmund scares some of his classmates later when he starts cursing at someone in Archen. His Irish classmates immediately adopt him, because he's speaking Irish. Very weird Irish but still Irish.

- Archenland's last King and Queen were King Eoin and Queen Ines. They were both murdered by Calormene assassin's and their young blind son Sol (15 during the events of the Last Battle) was placed on the throne as a puppet ruler. This was a mistake and Calormen was pushed out shortly before the last great battle.

- Archenland has creatures unique to them, specifically they have wolverines, moose, and other animals associated with colder places. Some are talking animals.

- Susan Does Not Like the fact many Wolverines can talk but Lucy is very fond of them and they adore her.

- Susan loves the snow bears (polar bears). They're very pleasant and civilized creatures that regularly murder giants.

- Peter likes the moose. They like him and one named Teo would let the High King ride him into battle on occasion.

- Edmund prefers the talking mink as they are clever, excellent spies, and foul mouthed.

- Ariane had a mink friend named Avi. He would ride around on her or Edmund's shoulders and pretend to be a dumb beast to get information or free food. Mr. Beaver thinks he's uncivilized and they bicker about it.

- Boxing is a popular sport, as is skiing.

- Archenland is well known for its poetry and music.

- The nobility favor practical clothes over grand ones. They do have royal clothing but these are brought out for special occasions.

Raw meat, taxidermy, fur, leather, animal skulls and bones, and other things like that I cannot stand being around or seeing for more than a couple minutes without being deathly uncomfortable. Three Ships: 

1. Whatever the hell Cam + Pal/Paul have going on-- I need to stress that this isn't a romantic ship. Camilla carried Palamedes' soul inside her even as it corroded her and now they've both given themselves up to make a new person because neither could stand to lose the other. The notebook. The tape recorder. "Life is too short and love is too long." "Go loud."

2. Gency-- Girlboss and Malewife with hearty helpings of whump and fluff, as well as discussions about personal growth. I've written entirely too much fic about them not to include them. Also it's nice seeing all the little references to their shippy stuff with the Valentine's event going on :)

3. Fitzcrozier-- What if our ships were stranded in ice trying to find the northwest passage and we were slowly being picked off one by one by a polar bear monster with a semi-human face and we were all slowly dying of lead poisoning from tainted food and we initially couldn't stand each other but we're gradually gaining a profound respect and affection towards each other as it becomes increasingly clear we won't make it back home... and we're both men?

First Ever Ship: I'd say the first ship that really felt like ~my~ ship was Saya and Hagi from Blood+. That ship had everything: Vampires, bodyguard dynamics, devotion, asymmetrical character development over an absurdly long period of time, weird almost insect-like biological imperatives influencing said devotion, a death pact... It's honestly shocking to me that Blood+ didn't have that much of an impact because it was everything to me.

Last Song: Delta by C2C

Last Movie: Oh god it was this really underwhelming super macho drama/thriller thing directed by Russell Crowe--Poker Face. Not nearly as good as the TV show Poker Face. You know what I'm just going to say "Tampopo" instead because that one was way better.

Currently Reading: Oh gosh a whole bunch of stuff. "How to Invent Everything" by Ryan North, "The Secret History" by Donna Tartt, this steampunk short story anthology, "The Tao of Jeet Kune Do" by Bruce Lee....The worst part about working at a library is you get Book WIP syndrome and the only thing that really forces you to try and finish books in a timely manner is the waiting list.

Currently Watching: The Last of Us on HBO, The Lost Kitchen, cooking videos on youtube.

Currently consuming: Black tea with cream and sugar and toasted Irish brown bread with looooads of butter!

In this Au I don’t think people would be born as hybrids. Around the age where kids start developing personalities that’s when they’re the most open to absorbing the ambient magic around them. The forms they take being dependent on a combination of the persons spirit and the local magic. It requires a lot of magic so it’s pretty rare and mythics require even more magic so are rarer still. It’s unusual to have more than one hybrid in a family let alone siblings and one being a mythic to boot is basically unheard of.

There’s room to change what creatures Price, Gaz and Ghost are I just went with lions because it’s England’s national emblem. I love Irish roach too but DRAGON.

Farah and Hadir are unequal opposites both hybrids but Farah is a mythic and they represent different elements and want different things in the end freedom vs retribution (I also wanted a hybrid antagonist instead of making all the bad guys human).

Laswell isn’t a mythic but she is also very rare she grew up on or near a hidden fossil when other hybrids (especially reptiles and some birds) get near her the feel like they’re in the presence of something ancient.

Golden eagles mate for life (Alrudy) and the snake the eagle eats on the Mexican flag is a rattle snake but I think it was originally a different one and Valeria does work better a a viper

You are so right with nick btw polar bears are one of the few animals to actively hunt humans and they’re smart to.

I think the first thing to change for soap were his eyes, they went from blue to BLUE and ever since everyone’s been to afraid of tainting the pure little Unicorn to even touch him. Being viewed as near holy did not help the religious guilt. This could also work with him being trans masc or just gay. Also did I say this was Ghoap yet?

Everyone listens to a mythic they are put on pedestals and viewed as nearly holy and hurting one purposefully is nearly unthinkable for most regular people, so having several in the military even if they are fierce creatures is nearly unheard of let alone with Soap. They usually become celebrities or spiritual leaders.

Shepherd mission in life is basically “if I can’t have special magic then I’m gonna make those who do suffer”. Makarov’s is to wipe out the walking talking crimes against nature. He’s one of the few deadend to magic like the opposite of a hybrid but that does mean magical tracking, attacks or other affects don’t work on him.

Nearly everyone has a bit of magic in them they can use and feel, hybrids and mythic hybrids have more Laswell has more then most still.

I see why you chose that but honestly it almost to many lions. What you could do is have Ghost's transformation happen around the Roba period. I know that goes against the premise, but it would be an explanation if you wanted to do something else. Maybe a chupacabra or OOHHH A BLACK DOG!!!

My thoughts exactly it also narrows down presumably a wide range of other bear hybrids. Polar bears are so cool and I have never seen one be used in a hybrid AU.

I love the Soap angst (I'm also a bitch for Soap angst) lovely ideas for potential angst it works very well. I did figure it was Ghoap when is it not.

Both motivations are just perfect chefs kiss. It fits both of their personalities and Shepard strikes me as a spiteful old bastard. And Makarov is just pure evil.

It's so hard to pick a favourite, because I have so many that I love for different reasons. I had to go with these three:

Carey, the wolf, was a present from my grandmother in 2009. Alana, the polar bear, was a present from Red in 2013. Both are very sentimental to me!

And of course, Leia in the middle. I have so many Leia toys and plushies, of course, but this one is special to me. I got her in 2016 and we've been through a lot together, so I have to count her amongst the favourites. ❤️
