Attn anon who asked about sigils! !

Tumblr is getting weird and won't let me answer your ask so I'm just posting an answer. THIS GOT QUITE LONG sorry So! The way I learned to make sigils is The Spare Method (as in Austin Osman Spare who first described it) which comes from chaos magic and is pretty much the most popular method, for good reason. What you do is, you write out a statement of intent -- "IT IS MY WILL THAT MY HAIR GROWS AS VINES" it "I HAVE A PET CROCODILE" never "I WANT" or "I HOPE". Also write it on the present tense not like it's going to happen but like...what the outcome will be. Make it as detailed or open ended as you want. Ok, so you have your statement, now you're going to knock out every letter that repeats. Some people knock out vowels too but I don't. So you're left with a string of letters like "ITSMYWLHARGOWVN" (is that right? Whatever). Actually I have a default design for the it is my will bit so I cut that part and paste it in later but that's not the official method. Anyway at this point it gets hard to explain cuz you just start...doodling and mushing things together. The idea is to make a fairly simple design where if you squint you can identify every letter but it doesn't just look like a bunch of letters smushed together, and you can't tell what it says or anything. This can take a long time if you are really picky about visuals but some people just churn them out. Anyway ok eventually you have a sigil! ! Then you uh charge it, activate it, turn it on or whatever... I can explain that in another post if you want there's lots of ways to do it. After you do that the spare method generally says you need to deliberately forget it, banish it from your mind, and destroy the sigil. That works fine but I don't really do it. I mostly just try to begin to see the sigil so much as itself that I don't necessarily associate it with the original meaning anymore, kind of like, "ooh, those are some pretty squiggles. I wonder what they're for." I usually keep them on hand in some way. Sometimes I post them where I'll see them without really necessarily noticing them every day for a while. So that's the Spare Method, more or less! ! My recommendation is once you get the hang of this, try like, designing a personal alphabet of symbols to stand in for each letter and do your sigils with those. Another way to do it is kind of lone automatic writing. Hold a pen loosely, close your eyes, think about your purpose, let the pen move, and start with the symbol you get from that The two other methods I use for creating sigils are thru dream transmission and string laying. Dream transmission is very simple but also not reliable: you think about a thing you need a sigil for, you go to sleep, your mind or the spirits provide an appropriate symbol. Or, you go to sleep with no particular purpose in mind, you dream a symbol anyway, you use it in the waking world and see what happens. String Laying is a method I learned from a dream that involves like, unraveling string like in a labyrinth while in a light trance, I don't really know how to explain it further or even if I want to because that one is spirit taught and I think of it as kind of Mine I think?
