दिग्विजय ने मांगा सर्जिकल स्ट्राइक का 'सबूत': भाजपा आक्रामक पर, कांग्रेस ने कहा 'व्यक्तिगत विचार' | Digvijaya requests "evidence" of the surgical strike: BJP goes on the attack, and Congress responds with "views personal"

Cultural Festivals in Ladakh You Shouldn’t Miss
Calling Ladakh paradisical is an understatement, but if there were a magic wonderland in Paradise, it would have looked and felt like Ladakh — festive, whimsical, and pristine. The local cultural festivals are one of the many things that make Ladakh “just right” for Jammu and Kashmir tourism. Also known as Mini Tibet, this region of mountain passes is an amalgamation of Nepali and Tibetan culture and heritage, with festivals shadowing the simple and secluded life of the monks.
So, when you are on a trip, make sure it is planned around one of the famous festivals of Ladakh.
Sindhu Darshan
The 3-day festival that starts on a full-moon night in June celebrates the harmonious River Indus. Local artists worldwide perform at the cultural fest. People bring water from their own states and immerse in the Indus River at Shey, Lamas offer prayers, and sightseeing is organized for the tourists.
Losar
One of the biggest and oldest festivals in Ladakh dating back to the 7th Century, Losar marks the beginning of a New Year in Tibet. It is also a 15-day festival where prayers are performed, and food offerings are given to ancestors, animals, and Gods. Music and drama, based on the concept of good conquering evil, are performed by local artists.
Hemis Festival
Ladakh’s richest monastery, Hemis Gompa, hosts their 3-day annual festival to honor the birth of the founder of Tantric Buddhism in Tibet, Guru Padmasambhava. Monks and locals wear traditional clothes and accessories, like headgears, Kamar bandh, and temple jewelry, while the Lamas perform Chaam — masked conventional dance performances with drums, cymbals, and longhorns. The 4-storied long Thangka of the Guru is hung in the courtyard.
Saka Dawa
It is one of the most sacred festivals in Leh-Ladakh, celebrated on the 4th Month of the Tibetan calendar, when Buddha was believed to be born and attained spiritual awakening. Saka Dewa takes place in Leh. Locals and lamas follow religious rituals like refraining from killing animals, reciting the Om Mani Padme Hum mantra all day, performing sadhanas, offering food and mandalas, and saving animals.
Ladakh Carnival Festival
The Ladakh festival is a significant event organized by the Jammu and Kashmir tourism, celebrated between September 1st and 15th in Leh. The carnival is a cultural and musical blend of Tibet, North India, and Central Asia. Cultural troupes from different parts of Jammu and Kashmir participate in the grand possession, which includes dancers, orchestra, local leaders, students, etc. You can watch Lions and Yak dancing, craft exhibition, best of Kashmiri cuisines, folklore ceremonies, lama performances, and archery and polo competition.

Fascinating Facts about Vaishno Devi that Will Make You Go to Jammu & Kashmir
Vaishno Devi temple is one of the most visited pilgrimage sites in Jammu and Kashmir. Tourism in Jammu flourishes because of the ten million pilgrims visiting the shrine annually. For those who don’t know, Vaishno Devi is a cave temple nestled in the Trikuta Hills of the Jammu district. The temple is believed to be the manifestation of Goddess Parvati. Besides, it is also home to 33 Hindu Gods. Maa Vaishno Devi is believed to be a bestower of strength, sight, offspring, and wealth.
That said, several unbelievable facts and folklore are associated with the temple. We have accumulated a few of them that will definitely urge you to increase the profitability of  Jammu tourism  in a good way.
What Makes Vaishno Devi the Holiest of all Pilgrimage Sites in India?
It is said that Maa Vaishno Devi attained immortality due to Lord Ram’s blessing as she observed the Navrata prayer for Rama’s victory against Ravana.
Lord Rama had an ashram (shrine) built for Vaishno Devi in the foothills of Mount Trikuta. The ashram was constructed to assure a married life between Vaishno Mata and Lord Rama in the Kaliyuga.
To test Vaishno Devi’s devotion towards Lord Rama and the truthfulness of their relationship, Mahayogi Gorakh Nath sent his prime disciple Bhairo Nath to pursue Vaishno Devi for nuptials.
In order to continue uninterrupted meditation, Vaishno Devi forsook her human form and took the form of a rock. The cave where she transformed her form is now the holy shrine. Thus, devotees pray to the five and a half feet tall rock with three pindies on the top.
While there are many interpretations and legends on how the temple came into existence, the most believable and appropriate one tells us that Vaishno Devi visited a poor sage (Pandit Shridhar) in his dreams and showed him the route to the temple.
The great Indian epic, Mahabharata, also mentions Mata Vaishno Devi. It is said that Arjuna used to meditate upon the Goddess in the hopes of her blessings before the Great War of Kurukshetra. In the Epic, Arjuna describes her as “Jambookatak Chityaishu Nityam Sannihilaye,” meaning the one who permanently dwells in the temple on the mountain of Jamboo, which could also mean Jammu.
Visiting Vaishno Devi during Navarata is considered equal to attaining Nirvana – one step closer to heaven.
There are three caves in the temple of which the main cave remains closed most time of the year, with the exception of December and January when the crowd is less than 10000 pilgrims.
Apparently, the original route to Vaishno Devi was too narrow and dangerous for the massive rush of pilgrims. Therefore, the Trikuta mountain was split in half at Ardh Kuwari to build a new road.
It is also said that there’s another cave at Ardh Kuwari where Vaishno Devi hid from Bhairo Nath for nine months. She hid in the same way as fetuses sleep in mothers’ wombs. Hence, this cave is also called Garbhjun.
It is also alleged that the cave of Vaishno Devi temple conserves the body of Bhairo Nath, whom the Goddess had killed with her trident (trisula). Legend had it that when Bhairo Nath’s head was beheaded, it flew and landed in the Bhairav Valley while his body remained in the cave.
River Ganges flow through the cave. Devotees wash themselves in the river stream before getting the darshan of the Goddess.

Is there still room for revival of Pakistan’s trade ties with India?
The former diplomat stressed: “Pakistan’s economy and, particularly, its textile and pharmaceutical sectors, stand to gain from trade with India given their dependence on raw materials from India.” He said internal consultation on the issue was required from Pakistan, coupled with some quiet diplomacy with India so that the proposal would be on the table when a new government took office in Delhi…

Farooq Abdullah responds to PM’s ‘New Kashmir’ statement
Former Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir, Farooq Abdullah criticized the remark made by Prime Minister Narendra Modi yesterday on Article 370 of the constitution. He said that the move would do nothing but promote dynastic rule in the erstwhile state. "If Article 370 was this bad, how did Jammu and Kashmir ever make progress," he questioned.
PM Modi visited Srinagar first time after scrapping of Article 370, where he called it a "new Jammu and Kashmir" and credited the scrapping for it.
“For decades, for political gains, Congress and its allies misled people in the name of Article 370. But today there are equal rights and opportunities for all. The people know the truth... they were misled... This is the new Jammu and Kashmir for which we all were waiting,' he had said.
Farooq Abdullah hit back shortly after saying, "If Article 370 was this bad -- I would like the Prime Minister to re-hear the speech made in the Rajya Sabha by then Leader of Opposition Ghulam Nabi Azad, in which he compared two states. He compared Gujarat and Jammu and Kashmir in terms of progress when Article 370 was there," Farooq Abdullah said.
"Now, if Article 370 and nepotism are responsible, then how did we make that progress? It is the people's rule, I lost the election as a chief minister. So, where is the dynastic rule?" Mr Abdullah said. "This dynastic rule is a kind of common voice I heard also in parliament. In every speech that PM makes, he makes a particular target on it".
Abdullah also pointed out that scrapping Article 370 also made education costlier in the state.
Education from the level of primary schools to universities was free, he said. "Today, education is only free up to the 14th class. In the universities, you have to pay now. An honest commission has to be put to see what was there before the revoke of Article 370 and what was is thereafter," Mr Abdullah said.
