Gutentag! Todays post is a little late, because I’ve been busy, but it was also cut short because of an intense thunderstorm. Also, I accidentally skipped episode 6 and listened to episode 7 so tomorrows post will be episode 6.
Todays Comedy Death Ray is hosted by Scott, and features Jason & Randy Sklar, Paul Rust, and call ins from Paul F Tompkins and Doug Benson. Each episode feels more and more like modern CBB. They add more improv character interviews, but they do still answer Twitter questions and play songs between segments (as always see below) This marks the first appearance of Paul F Tompkins AND Paul Rust! (Two of the best Paul’s in CBB history!)
The episode starts off with Scott bantering with co-hosts Randy and Jason, they talk about sports, and Randy’s new baby. Randy tells a story about how since his brain turned to mush after becoming a dad, he once mistook Diablo Cody for Dakota Fanning and angrily called her a whore.
Next, they get a visit from observational comedian Cal Shipsby (Paul Rust) who does a few of his famous bits about everyday life, including going on a date and receiving blood soup with chicken tendons, and how the government is using memory stealing micro fibers to print money.
After that they talk to Paul F Tompkins over the phone about Best Week Ever which everyone finds out is the last time it’s airing since the show was out on hiatus. After that they take some Twitter questions about children and sports.
Once the twittering is over, Scott is joined by the original writer of “Look who’s talking” Jerry Jimson (Paul Rust) who says he came up with the idea when he looked at his infant son and though “WHAT’RE YOU THINKING!?!”
For the end of the show they take a call from Doug Benson for Doug Loves Movies! He talks about the concept of his 8words or less movie reviews and does one for The Taking of Pelham 123. Doug says is more like “The Counting of Sheep, 1 2 snore” and after Doug is done, Scott, Randy, and Jason discuss the new movie “I Love You, Beth Cooper” with the star of the movie Paul Rust.
My walk was ok, as I said early it was interrupted by an intense lightning storm. When I left for the walk, there were some pretty dark clouds, but I did t really think much of it. After my first lap though, a super loud thunder clap happened and then the whole sky lit up, so I decided to go home early. I was only able to walk about 1 1/2 miles, but I did so in less time than I usually do so that’s good.
Overall while the episode was super funny the score takes a nasty hit since I ended early. 2 out of 5.
Songs featured in todays episode:
Spinal Tap - “Big Bottom”
The Lonely Island - “Who Says We’re Wack”
The Shins - “I’m Never Gonna Wipe My Butt”
Tenacious D - “The Metal”
Weird Al - “Whatever You Like”
Billy Crystal - “You Look Marvelous”
The Glass Beef - “Hawaii”

NEW PODCAST EP HAS DROPPED! (Links in my bio) #VFTCS SUMMER MUSIC EPISODE (digging in the crates) HOSTED BY @sklarbrothers WSG/ @jonahray @mattyprizzle @mrjlogic On the @starburnsaudio network. Jason & Randy invites Jonah, Matty & myself on their show and we shared our 3 fave retro/throwback songs that we discovered over the last year. This is one of my fave episodes because we get to share old songs we’ve never heard before or slept on and finally got them in our ears. If you like good banter and good music go give this a listen. Also stay tuned for the launch of my new show with @clifton1775 hitting the airwaves soon. Guests
Part 1: January 16, 2025 through April 10, 2024
Tumblr limits posts to 100 links, thus the necessity of splitting of the Guests page into parts. It is inconvenient, yes. Click here for a list of all parts.
Alphabetical by last name, unless they don't have a surname, in which case, good luck.
Looking for the host? Try the Taylor Tomlinson tag.
Is a name misspelled? Link broken? Dear god, please tell me.
Please note: “kill” choices are (usually) not tagged. Therefore the links below may not be inclusive of every guest’s appearance on After Midnight.
