Sorry for the long wait! I hope you enjoy!

It was always a once in a blue moon deal when Cromdo lets Jaythony use his headphones during work. Apparently music distracts him and the sight of headphones scares off customers. What logic that was he had no clue but he’s glad he can convince the guy on a good day to let him keep them on. Music was the only thing really keeping him grounded.

“Croooooooomdo!” Jaythony jumped at the mention of his boss’ name and took his headphones off to look at who was calling. Sharp fangs, lavender fur, purple hair that tipped into white, and magenta eyes that glowed with a passion. The grumpus from another time: Riamam Lampnom. She appeared to be carrying three Pinkles, stacked on top of one another, “Cromdo! I got your request for Pinkles! They were a bit tricky to nab but I got them!”

Jaythony moves out of the way as Cromdo exits the hut, “Yeah yeah kid, hand them over.” Riamam gives them to him, “Ah ha! Perfect. Thank you very much. And since I’m feeling generous, how about you get a cup of snakwater, half price.”

“Nah, I’m good.” Riamam stretches a bit, “That stuff is strong, I would be out like a Cheesepoof to a flame. Need to be sober to catch Bugsnax for everyone.”

“Eh fair enough. I’ll let you know if I need any more.”

“You got it.” Riamam walks off behind the barn.

Cromdo turns his attention to Jaythony, “And you. How about you take your break, kid? I gotta get these Pinkles into barrels.”

“Alright, Mr. Face.” Jaythony wanders over to a relaxing spot near the waterfall. He knows he doesn’t need to worry about a basketball being thrown at him; Chandlo was up in Sugarpine Woods getting some wood for a project or another. He flops on to the ground and watches the water in the river, peacefully putting his headphones back on, jamming out to some sweet beats.

Well… He would. If his headphones weren’t suddenly yanked from his head. He scrambles to his feet, about to chew out whoever did it, but is greeted by Riamam, looking at his headphones weirdly, touching them everywhere.

“Hey just what are these things on your head? Do you use them to cover your horns?” She puts it on her head on top of her own horns but they barely cover them, “Not very effective I’ll say.”

“Gimme those back.” He snatches them from her head and places them around his neck, “They are headphones.”

“Head… Phones?” She tilts her head.

“Yeah…?” He pauses before remembering something important, “Oh that’s right, you don’t know technology. Well here.” He places the headphones over her ears and goes through his playlist, “Let’s see… what’s something you’ll like?”

“What do you mean— Oooooooh???” Riamam begins to bop her head up and down, tail wagging up and down as a beat dances in her ears. It was nothing like the music she would listen to as a child but it was unique, bumping, almost sinister! She was loving it!

“You like it?” Jaythony tries to get the horned grump’s attention but she was starry eyed and tapping in place, jumping in place at the music playing in her ears, “Yeah you like it.” He glanced over at Chandlo as he had returned and noticed the little noises Riamam was making while jamming out. Jaythony just chuckled and shrugged.

Closing time was Jaythony’s favorite time, when he could finally spend time for himself. He sits by the campfire, watching the wood crack and burn, enjoying the sights and sounds the night probided.

Well he would, if he wasn’t picked up and hauled over Riamam’s shoulder and taken away from the warm fire.

“Wha- RIAMAM! Put me down! What are you doing?! Help! Anyone!?” But no one came to his aid, merely chuckling at the ancient grump’s antics.

Riamam brings Jaythony to Wambus’s garden, next to his scarecrow. She sits him down and gestures to the boombox that sat on the edge of the platform of Shelda’s hut, “That song your head thingys played? Can you play it here?”

“What? Empress’ New Cloak?”

“The song has a name? Amazing…”

Jaythony relaxed, now understanding what she wanted, “Heh heh. Ok ok. Here.” He goes up to the boombox and sets it to play the jarring beat and highered the volume, watching as Riamam tries to sing along and dance to the beat. He jumps up on the ledge and nods along, looking for more songs to play for the engerized grumpus. He never expected ancient grumps to be such party animals.
