Headcanons on how 1010 simp / how they are head over heels?

White/Rin: Suddenly, all of his usual charm and flirting feels hollow. He’s always loved giving his fans butterflies, but suddenly it feels off to be saying such things to anyone but you. And just the same, flirting with you in the same way becomes difficult.

He’s actually nervous to flirt with you, even though he desperately wants to sweep you off your feet. He’s not used to having to gather up some courage to flirt. He finds though that he’s addicted to it; he loves how you react when he says or does just the right thing. A very genuine soft side of him shows: he starts expressing that he wants to know you’re safe, he wants you to have fun, he wants to spend time with you. He really means all of it, you’re amazing to him, but also give him a feeling of security. Without even realizing it many a time, he wants to protect you, to keep you safe and happy. He finds too that he thinks of you when he wants someone to talk to.

And everything you do just entrances him. The smiles, laughs, blushes, and shy looks when he flusters you, or the ways you flirt with him, or the fun things you do together. It renders him speechless and has him daydreaming and blushing later. You actually get this confident bot flustered, be proud of yourself.

Red/Zimelu: Easily flustered by every bit of attention you give him, but he feels like he needs to hide it. It really doesn’t take much, just telling him he looks nice or smiling at him will get to him. He can’t stand how cute you are, and how nice your attention feels.

He gets shy about how you make him feel; he doesn’t like to admit it. And he does his best to fake confidence, but he’s still clearly flustered, having trouble keeping eye contact and fidgeting with his hands. He’ll get very worked up if you ask him what he thinks of you or tease him about it. He often daydreams of ways he could woo you.

He often comes across confident when he’s acting out something he’s been planning, and opens up a lot when he’s feeling comfortable around you.

He frequently finds an excuse to spend time with you or be physically closer to you. He does however open up if he finds out you’re insecure about yourself, and sometimes can muster the confidence to write you a love letter. Sometimes these things are hard for him to say in the moment, but he can be more forward in writing. And his protectiveness kicks in when you’re feeling down - he wants you to see all the wonderful parts of you.

Green/Eloni: Just can’t stop dwelling on every cute thing you say to/about him. Even something as simple as “I’m happy to see you” will stay in his head all day. It’s obvious to the other boys that he’s been more outgoing and cheery since he developed feelings for you. He tends to have more energy, especially on days you give him attention. On the other hand though, he’s easily hurt if you brush him off. He starts thinking about how the fan base doesnt like him as well as the others, and starts wondering if he’s too dull for you as well. Just give him some attention and praise when you can, though, and he’ll be back in no time.

He easily gets butterflies because of you. The way you smile? The look in your eyes when you look at him? The sound of your voice? He finds himself captivated by all of it and always wanting to have it again.

It makes him nervous many times, but he pushes himself to reach out to you fairly often. He wants your attention, and he wants to give you his. He just wants to know how you’re doing, hoping that you’re having a good day.

And he feels like he lives to make you smile. He never hesitates to comfort you when you’re down, or to compliment you when you’re insecure. And his favorite thing is to make you laugh. He‘ll show you memes, tell jokes, say or do silly things just to get a smile out of you.

Yellow/Haym: He just can’t get enough of you, from giving you attention to receiving yours. He gets distracted easily, thinking about you when you’re not around. Every time he gets an alert, he hopes it’s from you. It‘s evident when he’s fallen because he starts gushing about you. “Did you know Y/N does such and such? Isn’t that cool?” and “Y/N told me I have a nice voice!!” all the time. You excite him to no end, and he just can’t hold it in. And sometimes that comes out as burying his face in a pillow or bouncing his legs.

He has pretty good memory as is, but he starts to pick up on your traits and preferences more easily than he does others’. He starts seeing things with you in mind: That car is your favorite color, this sign says something you’d probably like. He tells you about these, takes a picture to show you, or gives them to you.

He wants to see you all the time. When you plan time together, he awaits it eagerly, and he hates for anything to get in the way. He’s constantly asking you to do activities with him, wanting to include you in everything.

Blue/Purl-Hew: You’re always on his mind. He doodles characters or animals you like. He thinks of you first when he realizes he can invite someone to whatever he’s going to do. When he comes across anything romantic, you pop into his mind.

And the simple thought of you gives him a bit more pep.

He gets both hopeful and nervous at the idea of showing you his work and interests. He wants to include you in what he enjoys, but he may second-guess his forwardness and fear making you uncomfortable. He’s very pleased when you praise or engage in his passions.

When he talks to you, he loses track of time. He gets invested in learning about you and hearing your thoughts, and he wants to share his own thoughts with you more than he does most people. You quickly become his favorite person to talk to.

PLEASE MAKE ELONI ACTUALLY FUNNY. i might be a bit biased because hes my favorite and my sillycoder but Please. make him funny. hes apart of one of the biggest boybands world wide. hes gonna be on tiktok, instagram, literally joking about whatever he can. when the titan submersible situation happened he was definitely making tiktoks about it and joking about it. HES A FUNNY GUY

i think haym hates that hes seen as the immature young one. he resents it and wants to die everytime he has to say something during interviews to keep his persona up. he definitely has an alt making fun of the extreme 1010 fans and its widely hated in the community without knowing its him. i do think he does troll around with it, just to annoy his brothers.

hot take maybe . i think purl hew is a BITCH . hes a bit self centered and doesnt care at all about what the fuck is happening around him. does he care? no. does he know everything? yes. nsrtist drama? hes the first to know. hes gretchen weiners.

zimelu ... i think hes a bit aggressive and will full on fnaf 2 foxy jumpscare the others for laughs. i think he really likes horror movies and films. hes even made a few short films himself !!

rin is a guy. hes such a guy. (literally no original hcs all of the ones i have i stole from my friends) ermm i do think he and neon j bonded a lot at first when he gained sentience.

for all of them, i think they all gained sentience a bit before the bunk bed junction battle. this caused them to.. be a bit fucked up in the head and get a bit of trauma from it. they all hate bunk bed junction and have a resentment for them.

ALSO i think they have programmed hobbies. rins being sports (literally any type. hes good at all sports.), zimelus ive mentioned as being cinema but i think also skating (again, all types. skateboarding, ice skating, ANYTHING.), purls being poetry and writing, eloni's being knitting and embroidery (projecting) and hayms being drawing !!

I ALSO THINK THEY ALL LIKE BRUNO MARS.

How did Zimelu and Neon J realize they were trans? (I find it inspiring how those more “masculine” characters are Trans!)

Actually! All my 1010 are trans! I don't know if you knew that or JUST wanted Zimelu and Neon J, but I'm gonna talk about them all because I can! >:3c

Will put under a read more because it is pretty long. Also there is some transphobia mentioned, mainly vague with Neon but turns into a lot of internalized transphobia with Haym and Purl-hew.

Neon: I would say that Neon didn't realize he was trans until he was mid teens or early adulthood. He honestly thought he was a broken woman who liked both men and women. He did not know the term bisexual at the time (which he used for a while before identifying as pansexual), so he kinda said he as both gay and straight with his friends (he would never tell his parents he liked women when they saw him as a girl).

It wasn't until mid teens that he started experimenting with clothing and his appearance when out with friends that he started to realize he would rather be a guy. He always thought he was weird, but he thought it was just because of his sexuality and not his gender. Once he figured out he was trans (even if he didn't use that terminology at the time) his friends supported him and helped him look like a guy when they went out partying.

Unfortunately one of these partying led to a pretty bad accident that only Neon survived (one of the friends went into a coma but the other 2 died) and so, basically being an adult and having no other support system, Neon left home to go and find someone to help him transition to be a man and would soon join the navy and meet his future ex-wife.

He does not reveal he is trans for a very long time. His medical doctor in the navy was either a friend or a robot he got to swore not to tell anyone (which would later become Rin), so his trans identity was very well hidden except from his closest sailor buddies and at the time wife. Not even 1010 knew he was trans for a very long time after a few of them, or at least Zimelu, came out as trans (Rin has no knowledge of the war time and knowing Neon's transness).

Zimelu: It took a lot longer for Zimelu to figure out she was trans. As a doll/kid she never really questioned being a boy, and during the war she never even had a gender assigned to her. So once the MK1 model rolled around, all Zimelu ever knew and was treated as was being a boy.

Because of this she never questioned her gender identity. If anything, she questioned the "bad boy" role she was put into for 1010 because she never really liked breaking rules or being really mean, but she did it because she thought that is best for the group.

The only time she started questioning whether she was a boy or girl was after the Rock Revolution, and only when she started hanging out with Mayday. There were times before hand, with fashion shoots or helping Eve, that 1010 were put in experimental outfits, but never something very feminine so Zimelu never really got that moment of realization.

That is not until hanging out with Mayday and jokingly the two switched clothes for some reason, either a dare or just to do something stupid for fun. But it was wearing a very feminine outfit and seeing herself in the mirror with her hair down that made Zimelu stop laughing and joking around to just stare at herself in amazement. May and Haym were very worried at the sudden tone shift, but Zuke knew that look in Zimelu's eyes.

She ended up playing it off quickly and tried to go back to normal, but now there was a nagging thought in the back of her head that something was not right. Over time Zuke would try to casually bring the idea of being trans up, which made Zimelu uncomfortable because she thought if she was trans she would be decommissioned or rejected by her family, so she would always shut him down when in private or try to turn the conversation to something else when in public.

Purl notices how Zimelu is acting around Zuke and confronts him, Zimelu sees this, and the truth comes out between the three that Zimelu wants to be a girl and all her fears and insecurities come out with it. In the end, after some reassurance from Zuke and Purl, Zimelu comes out as trans to the family and is immediately accepted by Neon and the rest of the fam.

-And now for the other 1010 members. I'll try to be less detailed with the rest so not to make this super long, but we know I like to talk lol.

Rin: I would say Rin just never cared for its gender. Rin would just play the part of son/medical bot/leader/boy just because it was told that is what it is.

Honestly I think Rin has the most tame story of finding out its gender. It really was just some troll online trying to make Rin, or any 1010/robot, feel like shit by calling them an "it" which Rin just took and was like "Okay sure, I'll go by it" just to really stick it to an asshole online.

I kinda see this as like when people do something ironically and then it becomes a part of who they are. This is literally what happened with Rin lol. It really did just go by He/It for a while and after some time grew really attached to the It/Its label and made that its primary pronouns. Still sometimes going by he/him, but very much Rin's primary pronouns are It/Its.

Rin is probably still experimenting with labels. I had it as genderqueer, but it might also be agender. For the most part Rin is very casual about its gender and does not care all that much if people misgender it, but is also super happy when people use the correct pronoun for it.

Haym: Haym also had a really easy way of finding out his gender. Literally he transitioned without even knowing he was a guy. By that, I mean that when he was a doll/kid, he was a little girl, but then when made into an MK1 model, he was now seen and treated like a guy.

Like, as a little girl, Haym very much tried doing more stereotypical "boy" things like playing in the dirt or building stuff, instead of playing with dolls and putting on pretty dresses. "Tried" being a key word here. Martha, Neon J's ex-wife, really tried to enforce gendered roles onto young 1010, forcing Haym into more "girly" things (along with forcing Zimelu to do "boy" things even though Zimelu never truly tried to do too many "girly" things).

Haym was always upset and annoyed at this, but more so that he couldn't play the way he wanted to play and not as much as being denied his identity that he didn't even realize he had.

Once he became an MK1 though, and almost everybody was treating him like a guy, he was just super happy with who he was. He never even realized until Zimelu came out as trans, that he was technically trans himself. He still had in his code that he was a girl, but because he was treated like a guy and felt like a guy, he just ignored and forgot about that part of his code.

He embraced being trans, but also kinda realizes he does not have the same experience as his siblings who had to actually work to figure themselves out. He feels like he has some kind of privilege over them since he didn't have to suffer any real dysphoria or stigmatization over the years. It sometimes makes him feel guilty and not deserving of the trans label just because he was able to pass for so long as the gender he identified with.

I feel like he will never tell any of his family, friends, or lovers this though, and it will be a guilt he keeps to himself forever.

Eloni: Eloni is genderfluid. I actually do not have as much story for them as I do for everyone else. She would probably have been one of the later ones to come out as trans, probably second to last with Purl being the last to come out.

Because of this, I feel like Eloni was probably experimenting with labels in private with the fam. So one day Eloni would request to be called by just she/her pronouns, or would wear androgynous clothing. None of this would be done in public for fear and anxiety of having a label forced onto him by public perception.

In the end Eloni is just super confused on what they should have as a label because everything seems to fit well. Dress like a boy? Feels good! Dress like a girl? Awesome! Use neutral pronouns? Totally! Use either or both gendered pronouns? Yes please! Nothing seemed to bother Eloni to the point they wondered if they even were trans because to him, if everything felt the same does that mean I am all or nothing?

In the end though, I would say that either the Sayu Crew, or Purl and Rin showed Eloni the genderfluid label and that is the one Eloni chose to go by and later revealed to the public.

Purl-hew: Saved Purl for last because I feel they will be a lot lol.

Purl was like Rin for a while, just playing the role assigned to them. They were the good little girl for their parents. They were an emotionless machine built for war. A cool and mysterious boy for the public eye.

Purl followed all the rules, did everything that was asked of them, and yet they were never happy. No matter how they changed their personality, how they acted, how they presented, they were miserable and hated themself.

Purl spent years wonder what is wrong with them, why they couldn't just stop and be what they were made to be. But that was the problem. Purl was built to be a girl, then forced to be a boy. Living both sides of the coin like Haym, but instead of being happy with the change, it left them more and more empty.

They questioned if they were broken, or if life was always supposed to be so dull and full of self hatred. Even before the revolution Purl was wondering what was wrong with them, how could they feel like nothing all the time.

Purl honestly thought they were some kind of spoiled kid for not ever being happy. They knew what it was like to be a girl and a boy, knew what it was like to not have basic necessities and yet to have everything they ever wanted, knew what it was like to be in war and peace, knew what it meant to be extremely busy and extremely bored. And yet they have no idea what it meant to feel nothing about yourself.

Purl already had some problems expression emotions, so figuring out they were nonbinary was not going to happen for a very long time. And even when they did, they denied themself of that label.

Purl saw their whole family go from being cisgender and straight to very queer in the matter of a few months to maybe a year or two. Everything was changing and the public eye was on all of them. Once everyone came out except for Purl, there were jokes among fans that Purl was the only "normal one" or that it was a matter of time before Purl came out as some random identity.

They hated this. Purl absolutely hated having the public watching their every move, and because they were watched they thought they had to actually live up to that "normal" role. Purl was going to pretend to be fully cisgender and straight. They were going to ignore the fact they were created as a girl, or that they liked masculine presenting people, and pretend to be the cishet one of the group for the fans.

This really took a toll on Purl's mental health. They were so miserable that they would isolate themself for days when not doing work for 1010. Already they felt isolated from the family for not being able to express emotions, and now they believed had to hide their own identity so the public would not turn on 1010.

It felt like everything and everyone was against Purl. Even when one of their siblings would try to reach out, which was honestly not often since they thought this behaviour was normal for Purl, Purl would just push them away and act like everything was okay when it truly wasn't.

The only reason Purl ever came out as nonbinary was because of DK West and Ex-Jay. Spending time away from family, in situations that were not in the public eye, is what allowed Purl to express themself finally. It also helped that in Purl's mind, if West or any member of Ex-Jay tried to out them, they could lie and say that West/Ex-Jay are making it up, then Purl could cut them out of their life.

It was an easy out to Purl that finally let them have a safe space to embrace their queer aspects of themself. Even if Purl was ready at a drop of a hat to cut out that safe space if there was even a chance of being outed, it was something. Purl was not longer entirely alone in life, and soon would come out publicly as nonbinary and using only they/them pronouns.

Even as they came out, they would only dress in masculine or androgynous clothes. It wasn't until like a year or two later that they were able to reconnect with their feminine side, which was something they were trying to kill because of childhood trauma. But now Purl can confidently wear a dress or makeup or whatever while not feeling like they are a woman. Or a suit and not feel like a guy.

Honestly, I feel like if it was not for the Rock Revolution, none of 1010 would be happy. Maybe Haym would be the only one as he was lucky enough to get the gender he wanted when becoming MK-units, and MAYBE Rin would have figured out it was agender/genderqueer, but absolutely not would Eloni, Zimelu, or Purl been able to figure out who they were. Especially not Purl.

Barraca Mansion is, in true Neon J fashion, obnoxious. Child-safe obnoxious, but still obnoxious. Jack-o'-lanterns litter the route to the front door, fake cobwebs cover the windows and hang from the tall 1010 posters above the door. A few gravestones are strewn around the yard as well, and caution tape decorates the gate itself. Probably the scariest thing is the jack-o'-lanterns spiked onto a few gate posts.

"YEAH!! Costumes!! We look great!!"

"We sure look like something. I feel like we might be too cliché?"

"No no noooo! Not cliché! We're fun! We're a reference!"

"Too bad Dad can't join us in these outfits."

"Yeah... But that's because he's got to be not too scary to the kids and the broken screen would probably be too scary. So instead he gets to wear his witchy dress thing! Which is super cuuute!"

"Yeah."

"And then later tonight when he leaves us in charge and goes off to trick-or-treat with Yinu and Space Dad he gets to wear his sexy satellite!"

"Yup."

Eloni is simply sage nodding.

"There's probably only one person who would like a sexy satellite costume."

"And Dad is dating him!"

Highlight moments from my really bad 1010 fanfic that I wrote using Dungeon AI.

Basic “story” is that Rin shoots me under orders from crime boss, Boss Varon. I then get Neon J to launch an attack and kill Boss Varon for me. Then we fix Rin and it’s all cool.

Trust me guys, the summary is better than the actual story XD I’m not joking! The fanfic is BAD. Anyway these were the best moments so you don’t have to read it!

Purl-Hew being really, really unforgiving that Rin shot me and is working for Boss Varon

Zimelu being... Zimelu

Eloni and Haym apparently shooting up Boss Varon’s base with rifles and subsequently blowing it up to inflict MAXIMUM CARNAGE. (They also shot dead three guards pointblank omg)

Captain Neon J being very determined to kill Rin...

Rin getting reset back in a very anti-climatic ending. Don’t expect emotional dialogue from the AI ^_^;;

I do think the Dungeon AI has potential as a story-writing assistance tool. Perhaps not the raw output but a rough story can emerge from interacting with the AI.

alright, so i went through the ama with wan hazmer and daim dziauddian on twitch and picked out every little tidbit i could about the megastars bc i knew you guys would want to know. this is a long post and i’m on mobile atm so i can’t put it under a read more — sorry about that! bosses are in chronological order, starting with DJSS and ending with Eve!

DJ SUBATOMIC SUPERNOVA

- djss took the least amount of time to develop out of all the bosses (haz says his fight took about half a year.)

- daim purposely tried to make djss' name as long as he could. he was specifically looking at negasonic teenage warhead from deadpool for inspiration.

- haz and daim do have the briefing/kliffnotes for djss. they discussed sharing them at some point, but idk when that would happen.

- related to the above, daim says that dj is in his mid thirties. EDIT: his kliffnotes were shared on twitter and they say he’s 41. daim must have goofed haha

- when asked if djss actually has a face and how he eats, daim compares it to kenny from south park and how you never see his face. he thinks dj does have a face in there, but that we just never see it. as for the “how does he eat” part, daim says that sometimes they don’t have to show everything.

- daim is a djneon/neonnova shipper, and it’s one his favourite pairings alongside zuke/mayday.

- daim said that uncle ali basically instantly landed the role as djss. he was that good.

SAYU

- sayu was obviously inspired by hatsune miku and other vocaloids, but haz brings up one particular commercial involving miku and google chrome, which involves a bunch of people collborating on songs and concept art for miku, similar to how sayu started as a collab between remi and tila in-universe.

- someone asked about the models for sayu's crew's apartments. there wasn't much on that, but haz mentions that one of his favourite nsr fanfics (yes, he reads them) is "Road to Redemption," and there's a scene that takes place in a studio where the crew works on sayu, and he really likes that.

- the devs wanted sayu's name to sound both malay and japanese at the same time (as well as a nod to miku). haz says it means “warm water” in japanese.

- akusuka is a direct copy of akihabara in terms of locale.

- sayu’s shellfish commercial is a homage to a real snack in malaysia named mamee monster, which is hugely popular with kids. the format of the commercial itself was inspired by a pocky commercial that featured hatsune miku.

YINU

- her game design (for her boss fight) was partially done in ms paint by music director falk (who made the base version of her boss theme)

- yinu's mom doesn't have a name. she's just mother/mama.

- haz confirmed that yinu's father is, in fact, dead.

- daim thought yinu’s name was a nod to yuna (a popular malaysian artist). it’s not.

- natura is daim’s favourite district. he likes how calm it is compared to the others.

- daim said that they wanted a hint of hope in all three of yinu’s backstory photographs, to show that no matter how bad your life gets, there’s always that glimmer of hope and that good things can still happen.

1010

- the members of 1010 do not have any official names.

- the assets for the autographs were made by the artists at one of the partner companies working with metronomik on nsr. haz and daim didn't really have anything to do with making them, and while daim did approve them for the final game, he was sorta skimming through a bunch of assets along with the autographs, and he didn't realize what they really were at the time until later. haz is impressed with how the fans managed to decipher them.

- 1010's fight was purposefully put between yinu's and eve's as a break from the emotional stuff.

- michael jackson was used as a reference for 1010's animations/moves.

- the Bio Tactical Shield that you get for zuke after beating 1010 is a reference to BTS.

- tangibly related, but the collectable figurines are supposed to serve more as a backstory to vinyl city as a whole, rather than 1010 or neon j. daim describes the figures as what events were going on and what people were doing before the events of nsr.

- 1010’s appearance from older trailers (where they all looked the same) were actually placeholders. 1010’s actual designs weren’t finished yet when those trailers were released.

- parts of 1010’s designs (for their bodies/outfits) were inspired by tron uprising, a project that daim worked on.

- somebody asked why 1010 and neon j have sculpted butt plates. daim and haz have no idea, but daim suggested that ellie (who designed 1010) and jan (who did their character models) put them there to up the “sexy robot” factor.

- daim’s favourite member of 1010 is purl-hew/blue, and haz’s favourite is eloni/green.

- the members of 1010 were designed based on popular tropes in boy bands. rin/white is “the main guy,” zimelu/red is the “bad boy,” purl-hew/blue is the “cool guy,” haym/yellow is the “young/innocent one,” and eloni/green is the “weird/funny one.”

- eloni/green not getting fan mail was based on how the “funny guy” of kpop bands/idol groups don’t seem to get as much attention as the rest of the group.

NEON J

- haz and daim didn't expect neon j to become so popular. haz joked about blaming it on ddaddystar, who did that doodle of djss and neon j from the credits.

- when asked about neon j’s age, daim said he’s definitely older than djss, and that he could be in his forties.

- related to the age thing, someone in chat said he should be older if he went to war in the sixties. haz replied by saying they never mentioned what year the game takes place in, so it doesn’t necessarily take place in the present/2020.

- a lot of people asked about the border wars, and daim and haz said they like leaving the bulk of it up to fan interpretation.

- daim said that neon j’s organs were preserved in a robotic shell after the war, and that’s why he’s considered a cyborg.

- as stated above, daim is a djneon/neonnova shipper, and it’s one his favourite pairings alongside zuke/mayday.

- neon j’s monologue was slightly longer, but it was cut down because zul (neon j’s va) didn’t do very many takes for the monologue, and the takes he did do didn’t have the comedic punch that daim was looking for, so it got shortened.

- the singing parts of neon j’s lines were ad-libbed by zul in his audition, and daim liked it so much that it stayed for the final game.

- neon j’s monologue had to be altered in the japanese dub so that the jokes/comedy would make more sense.

EVE

- the color changing paintings from her boss fight were created by accident.

- eve was put as the last boss because of how emotional her relationship with zuke was and how complicated and intricate she is as a whole compared to the rest of the bosses.

- daim considers eve to be the "final boss" for zuke, while tatiana is the final boss for mayday.

- eve took the longest to develop out of all the bosses. she was orignally a lot more complicated, and daim said they had to "filter" a lot of things about her in order to tone her down and fit her into the game.

- eve was almost scrapped from the game. daim said her concept as an eccentric artist wasn't as well known as the other four bosses’ concepts, and combine that with how long it took to finalize her... yeah.

- none of the artists have set in stone heights because of how the gameplay works, but eve is the tallest one. the closest scene in the game that has them at their actual heights is the ending.

- her name was originally eva, but it was changed bc there’s already a popular artist with the same name.

- daim explains that a big part of eve’s concept and theme is her embracing herself. he uses the example of eve’s backstory where she starts out hating herself and trying to cover the pink half of her face, but then starts doing less of that overtime. he also mentions that all the body parts (hands, arms, legs, etc.) from her fight also come from her embracing her body and using it in her artwork.

- dream fever is haz’s favourite district.

- daim didn’t originally think of zuke and eve as being an actual couple until later down the line when the story heavily implied it.

- eve’s younger designs were done by lzbros, who did all the 2d animation for the game.

The leader and a body guard(Rin x reader)

(Sorry this took so long, school sucked all of my motivation away. You can find the rest of the series here: Eloni )

warning: violence, slight angst with a happy ending

Sometime after the rock revolution, Neon J decided to leave for a 3-week vacation

This meant that you and your coworkers would need to report to Rin

The first couple of days were difficult because Rin didn’t seem to care about the reports and would flirt with whoever was giving him the report

It wasn’t till week two that things began to spiral

1010 had been in the middle of a performance when a fight broke out in the crowd

You jumped out of where you were standing to help control the crowd

You assessed the damage after everything calmed down

The venue + stage was partially destroyed, Purl-Hew lost his glasses and an eye, Haym lost an arm, Zimelu and Eloni’s faces were cracked, and Rin was missing

Rin was missing

This was bad news as the factory still hadn’t been repaired yet which meant that he couldn’t be brought back until Neon J came back

And if Neon J found out that you lost a member of 1010, you and your co-workers would be fired

So your group split into two parts, one half would take Zimelu, Haym, Purl- Hew, and Eloni back to Barraca Mansion while the other half would search for Rin

You were placed into the latter

It had been nearly an hour since Rin was discovered missing and there still was no sign of him. You were definitely going to get fired. While the concert was in Cast Tech, you along with several others were sent to search Metro Division in case he simply went back to Baraca Mansion without telling anyone. You were about to head back when you heard the sound of crashing metal.

“Hello, is anyone there?” You didn’t mean to say anything, but you were caught off guard. Against your better judgment, you began to walk towards that alley. You were desperate to find him after all.

“Stay back! RETREAT!” shouted a panicked autotuned voice. It was Rin.

“Rin? Is that you? Are you ok?” you rushed down the alley to find Rin hiding next to a dumpster.

“Don’t look at me!” Rin was trying to cover the right side of his face with his arm.

“What? Are you alright?”

“Y-yeah! Do not worry about me, I’ll make it back fine,” Rin tried to stand up, still covering his face, but immediately fell back down because his leg was missing.

“Look… everyone’s worried about you and you won’t be able to make it back by yourself with that leg,” you gestured at Rin’s broken leg. Please let me help you, I know some shortcuts.” You offered your arm. Rin hesitantly lifted his hand for his face and grabbed your hand for support. The metal that covered the right side of her face was gone, revealing the damaged hardware underneath.

You involuntarily flinched, he may not have been human, but it was still pretty jarring to look at something that looked like a person who was missing part of their face. Rin also flinched, covering his missing face with both of his hands now.

“I’m so sorry about that”, you rubbed your neck, “I just… well I didn’t expect the injury to be that bad.”

“You aren’t going to scream, are you?

“What? No, I'm very sorry about that. Besides I’ve seen way worse” you joked, trying to release the tension. Rin hesitantly uncovered his face once again and grabbed your hand and pulled himself up. The two of you dodged the groups of people walking through Metro Divison.

As the two of you were walking through, you couldn’t help but wonder about Rin’s reaction when it suddenly hit you, 1010 got severely injured during the rock revolution. One of these injuries included all of them losing their faceplates. Their fans unsurprisingly freaked out which caused 1010 to explode due to some protocol Neon J must’ve implemented. Your heart sank when you realized Rin’s reaction wasn’t because he was worried about his image, but he was scared of you screaming and what would follow afterward.

After that incident, Rin seemed to act differently towards you. He took you more seriously and listened to your reports

Even after Neón J came back, Rin still came to you for your reports

Probably just practice for when Neón j retires, you thought

As the weeks passed, the time spent on the casual chats you had increased to the point you’d forgot to give him the actual report several times

“And that’s how we got Quienne and Bebe.” Rin had just finished telling you the story of how they got their cats by Haym and Eloni smuggling them in through a box. This was one of many of the 'behind the scenes stories' that Rin had told you. While they didn’t act that much different when they weren’t on camera or in front of a crowd, it was nice to be trusted enough to hear about their personal lives.

“So what about you?”

“Hm?”

“Do you have any good stories? I don’t think it’s fair if I tell all of my secrets after all~.” Rin teased

“Well, I do have one. I was at a dance audition and waiting for my turn to perform and this dude that was performing was pretty much a circus act. He was doing all these frontflips and backflips and it was just crazy. Wish I had recorded it.”

“You used to be a performer? How come you stopped?” Rin curiously asked.

“Nah, I never made it past the first round of auditions. I didn't really mind since I only entered to support a friend.” You sipped on your coffee

“That’s a shame.” Rin paused for a moment. “You know I could always offer you lessons.”

“that's really nice, but I’ll have to decline. No amount of practice can fix these two left feet.” You looked at the clock, realizing half an hour had passed. You quickly said your goodbye and left to avoid getting into trouble. Rin watched your back as he left, unsure why he couldn’t take his eyes off you.

Rin was walking to his dressing room when he saw you walking alongside several other security staff. As rude as it sounded, Rin normally wouldn’t think twice about the people he worked with. Most staff would either quit from being harassed by crazy 1010 fans or get fired for secretly being 1010 fans who used the job to get access to 1010 content, or worse, 1010 themselves. Rin shuddered as memories of one of the many incidents came back. Rin could count on both of his hands the amount of current staff that has been working for over a year and you were one of them. Rin began to think about the early part of his career when he and his family would actively engage with the staff, talking about both of their personal lives and inviting them over to hang out in the mansion. He and his brothers stopped interacting with the staff after the high turnover started. What was the point of talking with them if they were going to quit and avoid 1010 like the plague or get fired and be avoided by 1010 like the plague. He was glad that he could talk to you. He also liked the sound of your voice and how your eyes sparkled brighter than the LEDs that lit up him and his brothers. Rin blushed at the last thoughts. The sound of your voice and the sparkle of your eyes? It’s not like he was in love with you or anything. He was technically your boss and your relationship was completely professional. Yeah, your interactions were one of his favorite parts of his day and your smile would always brighten his day, but even if he was in love with you(which he is not) there’s still the challenge of gaining the approval of his family and having to deal with his fan’s harassment. He couldn’t let you go through that. Though Rin couldn’t help but wonder what it would be like to talk with you outside of work…even go on a couple dates… maybe he was in love afterall.

You walked past Rin and smiled. Despite your attempts, you fell for Rin's charm just like his fans did and it took you no time to notice this. You knew you were never going to say anything, afterall, everyone knows the rule about not dating coworkers and Rin can choose practically anyone, why would he pick you?

It was the first concert after the rock revolution

The fans were extra antsy due to the lack of content, so it was all hands on deck

You were positioned on the front of the stage

This concert was no different than the previous ones, 1010 were performing, a couple of their fans attempted to jump on the stage, and you could barely hear your own thoughts over the mix of music and cheering. Suddenly both of those stopped. You looked at the stage and so 1010 standing still in mid-performance. You were told about this situation during training: it was either a malfunction or a hacking. You prayed that it wasn’t the latter. 1010 suddenly began to move in sync, but it was different from their normal in sync movement. You saw two fans get tackled to the ground as a red saw blade passed them at what would’ve been chest height. Your radio buzzed loudly as you were given your new orders:

“Get everyone out of there.”

It was chaos as you rushed around to get everyone out of the venue. Those with superhuman abilities(pyrokinesis, levitation, etc) stayed behind to prevent 1010 from leaving the venue. Despite not having any abilities, you stayed behind too. You were running around in the back looking for anyone who still might be there when the rubble from an explosion behind you knocked you to the ground. You quickly got up and saw Rin towering over Neon J. Without thinking, you quickly grabbed a nearby pipe that came from the newly busted wall and smashed it over Rin’s head. This managed to stop his attack, but it also brought his attention to you. He suddenly ran towards you, grabbed you, and threw you against the wall. Your consciousness began to fade in and out as your head collided with the wall. You saw Rin approaching you, then darkness, Rin raising his arm to strike, darkness again, Rin being pulled away by Neón J, darkness again, the inside of an ambulance, and then nothing.

You woke up in a hospital room. Your eyes scanned the room: on your right was a monitor accompanied by an IV drip. On your left was a small table with flowers, a get-well balloon, a couple cards, and a Rin with a worried face sitting on one of the chairs of the room. Rin noticed you were awake and quickly rushed before stopping unsure of what to do.

“Y/N” Rin said, unsure of what to do or say

“Rin”

“Y/N… I’m so sorry about what happened- I didn’t want to-I couldn’t stop- if there’s anything I can do to make it up to you-” Rin began to stutter out of guilt. He kept making sentences but giving up on them and starting new ones.

“Rin, please” Rin paused and looked at you. “It’s not your fault, I know you would never do this” the two of you sat in silence for what felt like an eternity before you continued, “You know... if the offers still up… I’d be happy to accept those dance lessons when I get discharged." Rin began to smile

“Yeah, the offers still up”

Neon J walked through the hospital’s halls. For the past two weeks, he had been personally escorting Rin to your hospital room. He knew Rin felt responsible for your injuries so he didn’t object to this despite the possible security risks(he couldn't keep his boys locked up). He had heard from Rin that you had woken up and he was glad that you were ok, but he had to cut your visitor time short due to an interview that all 1010 members must be present for. He walked into your room to find the two of you sleeping with Rin’s head on your lap.

“It’ll be fine if Rin misses one interview.” Neon J thought as he closed the door. He also began to wonder how long it will be before Rin introduces you officially to the family.

Could you maybe do some headcanons of 1010 with a S/O who is ashamed of their past, stuff like being very awful in childhood and cheating in high school, maybe still not being exactly “the best” in the present, and it can sometimes make them feel like they’re not good enough or not deserving of their success in life? It doesn’t have to be all of 1010 or just 1010 if you want.

White/Rin: The first thing he does when you’re upset is make an effort to comfort you. He can tell that this is weighing a lot on your mind, so he makes sure you know through affirmations and a focused gaze that he’s listening. He wants to know exactly what’s troubling you.

“Baby, take a breath,” he reminds you every time you get worked up. “Stay in the present.” He tries to give you time to say all that you need to, but to keep you from spiraling.

The things you did in the past may not have been great, but they happened in the past. He reminds you that you’re not the same person you were at that time. And you were a child doing some of those things. He doesn’t deny that some of your last actions weren’t great, but he thinks you’re way too hard on yourself. You’re not the same person you were a year ago, nor are you the person you’ll be a year from now.

He can see that you have some wonderful qualities as well, and he hopes you can see that.

“Lean on me. I’ll be here every time you feel weak, every time you don’t know what to do.” He can’t overstate that he’s there to support you and help you grow. He wants to help you better yourself.

Red/Zimelu: He might tease you a little about you’re hiding a troublemaking side..until he finds out you’re actually insecure about that. He gets pretty apologetic fast when he realizes this; He talks big about how bad he is, but he doesn’t really do anything terrible, and he was just joking with you. You certainly don’t have to disclose anything to him.

He’s pretty surprised to find out about your past actions that trouble you. He sits and listens to you explain. He tries not to interrupt, but he has questions occasionally, just to clarify. He ends up talking through his own thoughts once you’ve slowed down

Some of the things you did weren’t the kindest or healthiest for yourself or someone else. But you had reasons, and you were learning. If you regret it, if you learned something from it, that’s something, right? He gives you a smile and a pat on the back, telling you “Hey, nobody’s perfect. You just gotta set your sights on healing and being the person you want to be.”

Whatever he can do to help, he’s willing to do. He offers that you talk to him when you don’t feel confident about your decisions.

Green/Eloni: If your first expressions regarding this are quick comments, then he tries to say something reassuring or lighthearted in return. But as those comments build up, or when you explain everything to him, he pulls you into a hurried hug (or gives you an intense look until you’re focused on him, if you don’t care for touch) and tells you, “You don’t need to feel so guilty with me.”

He hasn’t been the most popular of 1010, and he’s even gotten remarks about being forgettable...but there are still people who value him. And he thinks that likewise, just because you haven’t been a saint, that doesn’t mean you’re a terrible person, or undeserving of good things. Okay, maybe not quite the same sentiment, but he hopes it helps you understand. He can see that you do good everyday, even in small ways. The things you did in the past don’t have to define you now.

He wants to make a plan with you to find something new to be grateful for every day. And he hopes you’ll learn to really appreciate the good things in life instead of feeling guilty over your happiness.

And whatever goals you want to set to deal with your feelings or to make amends, he’s there to help. He’d like to offer a second voice anytime you need it, so you can be confident that you’re making healthy decisions for you.

Yellow/Haym: When you first tell him that you have a history, he tells you that you don’t have to share anything you’re uncomfortable with, unless you really think hiding it will impact your relationship.

When you mention incidents that happened in high school and earlier, he’s shocked that you still feel guilty about it. “You were so young,” he reminds you, ”And from what I know, everybody does silly things when they’re young.”

Maybe the things you did were harmful, but he can tell that you have regrets and that you’ve learned something. Isn’t that what matters? He’s made people upset a number of times with pranks he’s pulled, but he did all he could to make up for it and learned his limits. It’s okay as long as you don’t want to continue bringing harm, he thinks.

And maybe that success and the good things in your life are there to remind you that it’s okay to mess up! He’s always learning something new about himself, others, and emotions and he’s sure it’s the same for you.

Blue/Purl-Hew:He takes a minute to process. And if he notices that this troubles you, he tells you not to panic. “Whatever you may have done...you shouldn’t be so hard on yourself over it. You won’t grow from hurting yourself.”

Most of the things that trouble you happened in the past. Some of them you might be able to improve on, but most of them you probably can’t do anything about. He thinks that they’re not worth fretting so much over. For things that are more recent, or even currently happening; he may not like what you’ve done, but he still likes you and can see that you’re trying to be a better person. He’s putting his faith in you - he believes you can make healthier decisions if you have some support through the journey.

He has some ideas to help - something practical like writing down good things you’ve done so you can be proud of them, or making goals to do kind things. He also suggests using a creative outlet to vent your feelings. Maybe doing so will help you process your thoughts.

OK so I saw the whole single parent s/o child thing and all I can think about is Neon J with a single parent s/o and how Neon would be worried how 1010 would react to the small child. However he was worried for nothing casue 1010 just instinctually turn into big brothers.

I love this idea!! I'm going to do seperate ones however, for how Neon J would react to the child and how 1010 would react^^ (Keep in mind this is a Neon J x S/O, 1010 is just here for platonic headcanons)

Neon J x Single Parent S/O

1010:

First things First, they absolutely love your kid.

Need a Babysitter? They're always up for the job no matter what.

Rin would try to teach them to dance or dance with them if they want

Eloni would put on movies or cartoons for the kid to watch (while also watching it with them lol)

Zimelu would let the kid dress him up if they want (the crazy hats, coats, and other accessories break out) or if they want to do something else, he'll take them to their backyard and play ball with them

Haym would draw with them with crayons or markers. By the end, they have drawn 5 pictures of both his dad and his dad's s/o

Purl-hew would play board games with them. He would let them win on purpose for every round and for each game.

In general, they would be amazing babysitters and big brothers!

You feel safe knowing that your child is in good hands with them at all time. (Until they try to cook a pizza themselves for your kid lol)

Neon J:

He absolutely adores your kid

He loves kids!!

He would make toys and figurines for your kid , of anything they wanted

He would also fix any of their broken toys if needed

He loves to make them laugh, it's music to his ears. So a lot of dad jokes are thrown lol

At first, he was very nervous (and maybe a little bit scared) of how the boys would react to your kid

But he was relieved after the fact they would not stop talking about how adorable the kid was and how cute they were

He's so happy knowing he has a big and happy family!! It warms his heart!

Some HCs for them bc these people have been living in my brain rent free since last summer.

1. Space Date? Space Date! How it happened, idk. The mental imagery of Zero G cuddles while Neon J is humming gives me so much life.

2. DJ getting referred as “Father” and Neon J as “Dad” by Yinu. Accidentally for the first time, and more bc they cried happy tears.

3. Neon J having trauma induced nightmares. Papa always comforts him with a piano song. No matter when.

4. Mama loves hearing the monitor sound from Neon J. She made a whole song using it.

5. DJ is not allowed in the kitchen, bc they manage to burn it down once they try helping. Everyone else can cook though.

6. Neon J sucks with plants. Same with Papa and Mama with computers.

7. Neon J getting piano lessons from papa. Or DJ getting harp lessons from mama.

8. Papa loves playing with DJ and Mama’s noodle arms while they rest. Neon J, with their consent, records them on his phone.

9. Papa hears about Nonbinary people, and asks for his family to use they/them for him for a while. It doesn’t stick but papa no longer thinks he’s fully cis. (Demiboy or no labels)

10. Some songs that remind me of them. Solar System Disco by Nayutanalien, Comet Honeymoon also by Nayutanalien, Heart by John (this is more of a Neon J song), Shiwaawase by Vaundy and Odoriko also by Vaundy! Sorry for shoving down my music taste down your throats, haha.

Sorry for the long ass ask! I’m hungry for content

1) Well obviously space date happens because both Neon and Nova have connections to people in NASA (or whatever equivalent there is to NSR/Vinyl City).

I can definitely see Neon not having the best time because of his radar not being all that well, so he just clings to whoever. Probably Papa while Mama and DJ dance a little bit as I see Mama having the most fun in Zero-G.

2) Honestly, I love the idea that Yinu plans this accordingly so that she "accidentally" calls them Father/Dad when she is in trouble to help her get out of trouble. Which is a tactic that Purl told her about as they were the last to call Neon "dad" and it helped them get out of a major lecture lol.

Also, the fact that 1010 would all have different things to call Mama, Papa, and DJSS would also be funny! Eloni making special sign names for them (oh you better believe Eloni and Papa have some sign jokes/puns) along with Haym and Zimelu trying to make up funny title/names to see what they can get away with. Then Purl being again the last one to call them anything other than their names.

Also, just, Neon crying at hearing Yinu call him "Dad" and reminding him of his daughter with Martha, but in a good way. Yinu would probably think she did something wrong only for Neon to pick her up and cry happily telling her he loved her so much.

3) Papa playing just the softest tunes for Neon, maybe even holding Neon close and humming softly as a comfort as Neon holds onto him tightly. DJSS also there rubbing Neon's back quietly as him and Papa are more night owls anyway and was there to help.

4) Oh totally. DJSS, Papa, Mama, Yinu, and 1010 all just make a song/multiple songs out of the different kinds of beeps that Neon produces to show how much they love him and how he shouldn't be concerned about his radar which sometimes comes up for Neon, rarely but it is still something he struggles with.

5) See, I think DJ is a great cook! However, he is a pretty big guy and if there are other people in the kitchen it becomes too crowded and things get knocked over. So it's either only DJ or anyone else can go in and cook lol.

But going off of your "DJ can't cook" it would be funny if he knew how to cook only ONE dish. So like once a month he is allowed in the kitchen to cook, otherwise they are not the one cooking. It would most likely be Mama and Haym cooking the most, then maybe Neon and Papa, followed by Yinu Eloni and Purl. (omg their kitchen probably smells amazing!)

DJ and Zimelu are banned from the kitchen though. Purl sometimes too, but that's because they like setting fires, which is a problem even if they are controlled fired lol.

6) Neon's trying his best okay! He goes to water a plant only for Haym and Yinu to shout at him to stop drowning a cactus!

Mama and Papa accidentally downloading a virus and going to DJ for help so they don't disappoint Neon (only for DJ to bring it to Neon because he made the device/virus even worse so now Neon lectures all of them to not click on random ass links)

7) I actually see Neon as knowing the most instruments out of all of them, but being taught more professional piano skills from Papa or harp from Mama (he doesn't know that one) would be something he is willing to do. He would also be willing to play violin with them.

The three have to pressure (in a good way) DJSS to learn an instrument. He ends up choosing a brass instrument, something that none of the 3 can play (Neon could but not anymore). So Purl gets stuck on teaching DJ, Yinu, and Papa how to play that instrument because they are curious.

8) Yaaas! Questioning Papa is awesome! I like the idea that he goes back to being cis so ends up as like cis+, but honestly demiboy or unlabelled (especially unlabelled) is something I REALLY like and will put in my notes for AUs where Papa lives long enough to actually try other genders out.

9) Oh those are all really pretty! I wish I could experience them like you do, but I don't know the language so just reading the lyrics/listen to words I don't understand doesn't get the same message unfortunately. But the ones I could listen and read at the same time were very nice! (Also the animation of "Heart" was very nice to look at, made me think of Panty and Stocking but the main character kinda looked like Soul from Soul Eater lol)
