The Color of Love
Tumblr media
Request: If you're still accepting requests with that prompt list, I'd absolutely love to request 11/soulmate au with Jooheon if possible! 🥺 There are never enough MX fics, especially not adorable fluffy ones!
Prompt:
11) Soulmate AU
Pairing: Monsta X Jooheon x Reader
Genre: Fluff
.
Every love story was different, but always held the same three characteristics.
It could be ANYONE. Literally any person you pass on the street could be your soulmate. Didn't feel tiny in the expansive universe already?
It could happen at ANY time. Fifth grade math lesson? Accidental shoulder check at the grocery store? Awkward doctor's appointment? There was no telling where love would rear its ugly head.
Love in this new age? It always started with a burst of color.
"All I could see was this bright green going from my hand down my forearm," your best friend, Mina, rushed out excitedly. "It almost made me drop the weight I was holding."
"That's great, babe," you smiled, trying to be happy for her. "Who is the lucky guy?"
"His name is Hajoon," she continued dreamily. "I guess he'd seen me at the gym before but was too scared to say anything. Isn't that adorable?"
You would probably be going to Hell for not being over the moon for your best friend, but it was hard when you were still waiting.
Society put such an emphasis on finding your soulmate, it was impossible to think of much else. Going about your day, you tried to pay attention to who you brushed past or made casual physical contact with. That's how you would know.
When you touched your soulmate, color would bloom across your skin at the point of impact.
"Super cute," you sighed, avoiding eye contact. "So he saw you start to struggle and saved the day by spotting you?"
"Mhm," she hummed. "As soon as his fingers touched the back of my hand, it was like someone threw dye onto our arms. It was the craziest thing!"
"Sounds beautiful," you nodded, giving your best effort at a smile.
Clocking your failed attempts at support, Mina smiled sadly in return. "It's going to happen for you soon. I can feel it."
"Can you pass some of that feeling to me?" you grumbled. "I'd prefer not to ruin such a big day for my best friend."
"Hush," she cooed, wrapping an arm around you. "You haven't ruined anything. Sour mood or not, I have some good news."
"What's that?"
"Hajoon works for an entertainment company," she nodded. "He's an executive-"
"Cute AND rich?" you teased. "That IS some excellent news for you."
Smacking at your leg, Mina continued. "He asked if I wanted to go to a concert put on by his work. We have plans to meet up after, but do you want to go to the concert with me? He said I could bring a friend while he's working backstage on things."
"Why not?" you sighed. "Maybe I'll get elbowed in the crowd and accidentally find my soulmate."
"That's the spirit!"
.
A few days later, you allowed Mina to get you dressed up, acting as her doll for the night. You could admit that you were going through the motions as you followed her to the venue. Determined to make sure it was a good night for her, you put on as bright of a smile as you could when she handed you a light stick.
"The group is called Monsta X," she instructed. "They have six members, and their music is really exciting."
"Got it," you nodded, positive you had listened to their songs before. "Who's my favorite?"
"Not Hyungwon," she grinned. "He's my favorite."
"Point him out to me so I know to stay clear," you chuckled.
"We also have a high touch after," she said brightly, tugging you through the crowd.
"High touch," you confirmed, searching your brain for what exactly that meant. "Can't wait."
"You're going to have fun," Mina said slowly, looking over her shoulder at you. "I promise."
And she was right, the show was a blast. You had never experienced a live concert like Monsta X's before. The energy of the crowed literally radiated through your body. You were right that you had heard some of their music before and sang along to all of the songs you knew. Being lost in the crowd that was all feeling the same electricity was incredible. It's like you were one giant, synchronous being.
After the show, you were a bit flustered from all the activity, nearly forgetting you had a chance to meet the idols before leaving (yes, you did break down and ask Mina what exactly a high touch was). Allowing her to once again navigate you to where you needed to be, it wasn't long before you were thrust in front of the very men you had been howling at only minutes before.
Pushing you in front of her, Mina pointed to the first member facing your way for the high touch. "That's Hyungwon."
Assessing him, you could easily see why he was her favorite. Handsome was an understatement, this man was ethereal. "Yeeaah he is."
"Y/N," your friend giggled, giving you a slight push. Taking the few steps forward, you slapped your hand in his for a high five. The moment lasted only seconds but there was a bit of a rush to meeting a celebrity.
Next came a tall, tan, and buff member you would later learn was Shownu.
After, you locked eyes with the third member, remembering him as one of the vibrant mood makers of the group. He had been incredible on stage.
As your hand skid across his, you shot back with a gasp.
"Yah!" the member shouted, hopping backwards as well. His focus ricocheted from his palm to yours, mouth completely agape. Looking down in fascination, colors began to wrap around his wrist and trickle down his arm.
Shocked by what was happening, you glanced down at your own arm as well, getting lost in the cloud-like imagery blossoming across your skin.
Gasps erupted around you by both spectators and other Monsta X members. You couldn't help but feel like you did something wrong. Like you weren't allowed to have someone so interesting and good looking as a soulmate.
This simply could not be possible.
"Hey!" Jooheon yelled, bringing your attention back to him. He wasn't talking to you, but shouting at a staff member while aggressively waving them over. "Yo!"
Snapping out of it a bit, you took another step back, only to be slightly held up by Mina behind you. This was sensory overload to the nth degree.
"Y/N," she hissed, her own eyes darting across the scene. "Did...did you just sync up with Jooheon? Is he your soulmate?"
Jooheon. You had never heard his name before, but it just sounded right.
"I...I think so," you managed, not entirely believing what was happening.
A staff member had finally appeared, listening to Jooheon as he rapid-fired the situation to his manager. Occasionally shooting looks of surprise your way, he didn't stop talking until they had both sidled up to you.
"We're stepping away from the high touch," his manager explained, taking you by the elbow and guiding you towards an adjacent hallway. "The fan meet will continue without Joohoney."
"That's not fair," you said slowly, shaking your head. Glancing to the man you assumed you were tied to for life now, you heaved a sigh. "Your fans have waited so long for you."
Looking helplessly back and forth between you and his manager, Jooheon croaked. "But you're my soulmate."
"I'm not saying I'm going to disappear," you smiled reassuringly. "I'll just wait until you're done. I've waited this long."
Giving a curt nod, Jooheon's eyes searched your face for a moment. His lips pulled into a slow smile before he reached up, giving your nose a boop. Immediately, his manager's jaw dropped, presumably as color stretched across the middle of your face.
Pleased with himself, Jooheon turned on his heel and took up his spot behind the table again. Maintaining eye contact with you, he offered a dazzling smile.
"Alright," his manager breathed out on a sigh. "Let's get you backstage, shall we?"
.
Lost in your phone, trying to explain what was going on to the friend you had abandoned, you almost didn't notice him walk in.
Hearing the quiet click of the door closing, your head immediately snapped up to see Jooheon leaning against the entrance. His expression was full of hope, with a fringe of excitement. You could tell he was trying to reign in his enthusiasm. Judging by how hard he went on the stage; he seemed like a very reactive person. This quiet and careful side of him wasn't something you had really expected.
You supposed you had a lot to learn.
Crossing the room slowly, he took a seat on the coffee table in front of the couch you were sitting on. He bracketed your knees with his, creating an intimate space between the two of you.
Without hesitation, he took your hands gently between his, a light purple color already blooming from your fingertips. "Y/N, right?"
You barely remembered telling his manager your name, so he likely got passed the information.
"That's me."
"My soulmate."
You nodded weakly, looking from your joined hands and back up to his face. He smiled again before lifting your fingers to his mouth and kissing each tip in turn. As he did, it was like dropping food coloring into a glass of water. Different hues clouded out of your joints and went swirling around your skin. It was one of the most beautiful things you had ever seen.
Glancing up, you were immediately struck by the bright blue peppering Jooheon's mouth like ink blots. Slowly the color started to fade as your skin had lost contact with his mouth, but you still felt mesmerized by the whole experience.
"You're so beautiful," you said quietly, your eyes locking on his.
He gave you a close-lipped smile before tilting his head. Narrowing his eyes, he lifted his arm, and traced a small line on your cheekbone. You didn't have to see the result yourself to know that the visual had just as much of an effect on him as it did you.
"This is beautiful," he finally responded, dropping his hands to gather yours again. "I don't think I'll ever get tired of it."
"Me either," you breathed.
"I guess it gives me an excuse to hold your hand," he grinned, his eyes disappearing as it grew.
"You didn't need an excuse in the first place!" you laughed. "You're my soulmate now. You can hold my hand whenever you want."
"My soulmate," he whispered again. Each time he had voiced the words, there was a constant undertone of wonder.
"I don't think I'll get tired of hearing you say that," you chuckled, sure a blush was blazing across your face.
Jooheon furrowed his brows in thought. "Did you come to the show today as a fan? Was I your favorite?"
You coughed out a surprised laugh.
"It would be really awkward if you had a different favorite. If it was someone else, don't tell me who...
Okay, who was it?"
You continued to laugh as you shook your head. "I was only ever a casual fan. My friend had tickets and insisted I tag along. I promise I will be a Monbebe going forward, and you will always be my favorite."
"Damn right," he muttered. "And stay away from Minhyuk. He's more charming than I'd ever admit to him, and I don't want you getting caught in his cute little clutches."
"I will remain unshaken in my loyalty," you affirmed with a smirk. Plus, you had no idea who Minhyuk was, so that helped.
It was crazy to think of. If Mina didn't bring you here today, would you have ever discovered that Jooheon existed? Let alone that he was your soulmate?
You didn't want to think too hard on it. The universe worked in mysterious ways that you didn't expect to ever be privy to.
"So..." you hummed, glancing at Jooheon through your lashes. "What now?"
"Everything," he grinned, squeezing your hand. "We only have forever to figure out what happens next."

I love you
Post Date: 17th January 2023 Content: Fluff - Monsta X Jooheon x Reader WC: 1.9K TW?: Non Idol!Au/ Insecure Reader/ Mentions of hate comments/ Weight insecurities/ Overuse of babe and baby Request?: Yes
A.n: The request was for a chubby!reader with Jooheon. By no means does this reflect my views and opinions on "chubby" people, as being one myself. Everyone is beautiful/handsome/gorgeous in their own ways and no way should your size define how amazing you are as a person!
Masterlist                                    Prompt list
Prompts: 45 - "Please don't cry"
Tumblr media
Whilst your boyfriend’s at work, you try to find something to keep yourself busy and all you could do was stare at your Instagram account, realising how boring everything was but you didn’t have the heart to delete or change anything.
There are photos of you and Jooheon and his friends. As well as photos of your life in general.
But then an idea hits you, you always love doing your makeup and love trying on different outfits so why not create a makeup account, where you share makeup looks that you create, as well as outfits of the day.
Thinking this would be a way of expressing yourself and having fun with it simultaneously.
There wouldn’t be any hassle or issues with it as you know you’ll be able to go out at your own pace, since it’s all for fun anyway. Plus it gives you something to do whilst you are bored, waiting for your boyfriend to get home from work.
Just before you go to create a fresh account, your phone starts ringing and Jooheon’s caller comes up on your screen as soon as you try to press ‘Add Account’.
“Hey baby,” Jooheon sings happily down the phone, making a smirk grow quickly on your face after hearing his voice.
“Hey, hows work?” you answer, twirling a piece of hair in between your fingers.
After a little pause, he sighs, “It’s okay, eveyone keeps piling their work onto my desk and I seriously don’t want to do anything than be home with my baby”.
He’s so sweet and for what? You could tell he’s bored and tired, especially when he gets all sappy like this, but you love it because you feel the same way, you just can’t wait for him to get home.
“I can’t wait for you to get home too... Oh, babe!” You excitedly exclaim down the phone, remembering what you were originally going to do before he phones.
From your excitement, he instantly gets excited too, “Yes baby?”.
Sitting upright on the bed, you fall onto your front, getting yourself comfortable with your feet waving in the air behind you, “I’m going to be making a make-up and outfit Instagram, just for fun. I just want a place to express myself and I think it’ll be awesome!”.
Cheerfully laughing down the phone, Jooheon can’t help but make the happiest noises, “Will you let me pick a few outfits and give you make-up ideas?”.
“Of course, babe. You could even be on it if you really want to?” You smile and you wouldn’t be surprised if he could tell how big your smile was down the phone, exclaiming a huge ‘YES!’ down the other end.
“Oh btw... Damn, I’ll call you when I finish baby, managers coming down the corridor. I love you!” He cheers down the phone, letting you reply with an ‘I love you’ before hanging up.
Going back to what you were originally doing, you set up the account then go through your photos to see what you could do as a first post. But not before you set up an aesthetic for your highlights, loving every second of it.
So excited over it, you also start to make notes on what you could do on certain days, and plan what make-up looks you can start doing.
After making your first post, you follow Jooheon first, who in return, instantly follows you back, commenting on your first post, calling you beautiful and telling you how lucky he is to have you. It comes as no surprise that he even shares this in his story, just wants to show you off.
It’s been months since you started this new account and you are beyond enjoying it, loving every second of it.
You’ve even got yourself into a little routine, and you’re doing very well for followers even though that’s not why you started doing it in the first place. But you’ve grown to be quite fond of how amazing and supportive your followers are. Especially when they throw ideas your way.
You’re creating another new make-up look at your vanity, applying your eyeshadow and your phone starts to vibrate viciously with notifications, at first making you smile at first seeing the notifications rack up.
‘This look is amazing! Can’t wait for more.
‘You’re so talented!’.
‘Oh, to be as pretty as you!’.
‘Whoever your partner is, they’re so lucky’.
Everything seems to be going amazing so you place your phone back down to continue adding to the art on your face, even with Jooheon behind you on the bed on his phone, but occasionally looking over at you with the sweetest grin on his face.
“You’re so pretty, baby,” Out came the compliment in such a soft voice as you momentarily pause, turning to face him, blush started to appear on his cheeks when you smile back at him.
It was the worst time to let him butter you up, throwing you off a little as you start to have a small giggle fit, “Don’t compliment me, babe. I’ll get big headed”.
That’s all that matters to you, is what he thinks of you and he thinks the world of you, making you content in your relationship and confident in yourself also.
You couldn’t help but laugh when he starts to giggle more, hearing him shuffle behind you but not expecting the sudden back hug he gives you, almost making you brush bright blue eyeshadow down your cheek.
“Baby!” You whine, placing the brush down but your whine turns into laughter when he starts peppering kisses on your neck lightly, “I’m trying to make a masterpiece, don’t ruin it!”.
You playfully slap his arm which gently rests over your shoulder as he notices your phone going off again.
“Can I look at your comments? I’m sure they’re all amazing!” The excitement in his voice is too cute to say no, nodding to him as you try and get back to what you were doing.
Giving you some space, he sits on the chair next to you, looking through your comments when another notification comes through, another comment on your post.
In an instant, his grin turns into a frown as he reads the comment.
‘Who let her have make-up? It’s not like she can make herself look any better?’
Refusing to let that ruin your mood, and he knows you’re going to get people being horrible to you eventually but right now? he’d hate for you to see it so with a swift swipe of his finger, the notification and comment are being deleted.
Luckily you’re paying too much attention to have noticed the change in his expression, only when he forces a smile as he hands your phone back.
“Everyone is being so kind to my baby, as they should,” He kisses your shoulder, then gives it a reassuring squeeze before leaving you to it, “Would a cup of coffee be nice right now?”.
“Yes please, babe. That’ll be perfect right now!”.
Taking one moment to look at your progress, you can’t help but feel giddy about your work, being very impressed with how you’ve managed to pull the eye makeup off.
Now it was time to add the eyeliner, however, you couldn’t help but notice your phone is blowing up with notifications, unable to hold yourself back from looking.
Again, you find the usual compliments and your heart feels warm from them all, but then you see it. The hate comments.
It’s part of being on social media, you’ll always get negative people trying to push their own opinions without suffering consequences. You know this, but you couldn’t help but let the comments bring a lump to your throat.
‘You’re not talented, you’re ugly. Look at your OOTD’s, I would never let my girlfriend post photos of herself if she’s fat and ugly like you.
‘Instagram isn’t the right place for you. Maybe a farm would be better suited, cow’.
Those have to hurt, despite trying your best not to get affected by them. You notice how your followers try to defend you and call these horrible people out and as much as you appreciate them, you can’t help but look at yourself in the mirror again.
Starting with your cheeks, you start to nit-pick at yourself, poking at pinching your cheeks, down to your chest, arms, stomach and thighs. Tears well in your eyes as you consider how they might be right.
Trying your best, you shake it off, reminding yourself that people like them will have what’s coming to them and their opinion doesn’t matter. You weren’t going to let an hour's work on your make-up so far ruin what you’ve accomplished the last few months in building confidence and happiness.
But another comment hits your notifications.
‘Why would you be happy with yourself when you’re fat? Come on, reality check, you shouldn’t be happy’.
One that pokes at your weight once again, and the masterpiece you started to create on your face slowly gets ruined by your tears, you smudging your look with your hands as you wipe away the strays.
Rushing to grab a make-up wipe, you slump back into your chair, pressing it to your face as you proceed to take the make-up off, sobbing into the wipe as you struggle to fight away the bad thoughts of yourself that invade your mind.
Mid-cleaning your face, Jooheon walks back in and the second he hears your little sniffle, he places the coffee down on your bedside table and rushes over to you.
“What happened? Your make-up was so pretty, why are you crying?” His voice cracks, and seeing you cry pains him as he pulls you into a tight hug, your phone screen bright in his peripherals.
In an instant, he knew, and his heart jumps to his throat.
“They’ve started, haven’t they?” He asks softly, acting oblivious to the fact that he already knew they had.
Nodding into his chest, you sob a little harder, arms clutching around him tightly as he gently caresses your head, playing with your hair.
“What did they say? Can I see?”.
When you nod into his chest again, with shaking hands, he reaches for the phone, already open to the hate comments that you had looked at over and over again, feeling himself boiling with anger.
“Hey, don’t listen to them. Please don’t cry,” He whispers, kissing your head as he slowly peels himself away from you just to cup your face in both hands, wiping away the tears with his thumbs.
“But that they said was right, I shouldn’t have started this account. I’m not talented, I’m fat, I’m ugly...”
“No. No you’re not. They’re wrong. You started this because you love make-up and you wanted to show off your amazing fashion sense. I know this has helped you with your confident and it was amazing to see you glow and bask it in. You’re beautiful, you’re amazing and so talented. Please, don’t listen to them,” Jooheon begs.
“But...”
“No buts, baby. You’re perfect. I love everything about you and you should love everything about you too. You’re everything a man could dream of, and more. I love you”.
“I love you too,” You sniffle through the tears, forcing a smile as he softly returns one, pulling you in for another hug.
“Now, go wash up and come back, I’ll have an outfit picked out for you, let me be your photographer,” He cheers playfully, pinching your cheeks and placing a kiss on the tip of your nose.
No matter what you could think of yourself, Jooheon would always see you as perfect in his eyes. And the way he looks at you reminds you that you’re more than just these silly little comments.

Day 3 | Lee Jooheon
Paring: Lee Jooheon x Reader
Genre: Fluff
Warnings: none
Rating: G
Word Count: 1.4k
Prompt: Ugly Sweater
Masterlist
Tags: @doveslittlekpoparchive @choicethot @xosunny @heaviihamonii
It was always Jooheon’s idea. That’s what she liked to tell herself, at least. Jooheon was the brains behind many things. The music for his group, fun date nights, and even vacations. But he would always tell her she was always there to help spur the ideas, so the idea was just as much as hers. But she always turned that down quickly.
Especially when it meant the idea of matching ugly Christmas sweaters.
Jooheon was brimming with sheer joy as he walked through the door, his arms loaded with vibrant, clashing-colored sweaters. His face was illuminated with a childlike wonder as he displayed each sweater, their eccentric designs nearly blinding her. There were sweaters dotted with tiny jingling bells, the startling image of reindeer making ridiculous faces, and even a sweater depicting a very disconcerting Santa who seemed to have indulged in a little too much holiday cheer.
His excitement was infectious, his enthusiasm almost palpable in the air, making it difficult for her to completely disregard the monstrosities he had brought home. Yet Y/N couldn’t deny the bemusement, curling her lips upwards as Jooheon laughed brightly, pulling on one of the most atrocious of them all over his head. It was hideously festive and incredibly outlandish, yet on Jooheon, it somehow seemed surprisingly endearing.
“You expect us to wear these in public?” She questioned, her tone equally horrified and curious. Despite herself, she couldn’t help but shake her head in disapproval, a tease of a smile dancing unwanted on her lips. Y/N huffed, crossing her arms in stubborn defeat.
“Oh, come on, it’ll be fun!” He insisted, holding up a sweater similar to the one he was presently wearing toward Y/N, his eyes sparkling with anticipation and mischief. “Just imagine the look on people’s faces!”
If there was anything Jooheon was, it was persistently persuasive, and she, with a resigned sigh, eventually realized it was a battle she was destined to lose. As the reality sank in, an almost helpless laugh emerged from her lips.
Trying to smother her aggravation with reluctant laughter, she conceded to his plans, as absurd as they were. Ultimately, wasn’t the fun-filled weirdness and goofy antics that made their Christmas season undeniably lively and uniquely unforgettable? But no matter how often she resisted, she returned to the same thought at the end; it was always Jooheon’s ideas. Whether it was the ugly, overly festive sweaters or just the thrill of doing something absurdly fun, she couldn’t deny that these unique moments fueled the spirit of their relationship, igniting a passionate spark.
Holding up one of the wacky creations before her, she couldn’t hide the puzzled frown that crept onto her face, “Why did you even buy these, Jooheon?”
“Ah, it’s a surprise,” he responded, his voice carrying mischief that further spurred her curiosity. The playful twinkle in his eyes flickered brighter at her question. He shrugged, a smile playing on his lips, “Go on, put it on.”
She glanced down at the sweater in her hands, a rather unappealing concoction of colors that somehow managed to form an image of a grinning snowman holding a candy cane. Squinting her eyes, she looked back up at him, her curiosity now piqued.
“Jooheon,” she warned, trying to gauge his expression. Jooheon only chuckled and gave her an innocent shrug, the gleam in his eyes only affirming that he was up to something.
With a flurry of resigned laughter, she finally gave in, pulling the sweater over her head. The material was warm against her skin, oddly comforting despite the dubious visual aesthetic. As she adjusted the sweater, her eyes met Jooheon’s, who was watching her with anticipation dancing in his gaze.
She sighed, a smile creeping onto her face as she shook her head in amusement, “This better be a good surprise, Jooheon.”
Whether she initially agreed to his whims, these moments of silly antics and jovial laughter gave their Christmas season its character. And each time she warmed up to one of his eccentric ideas, it only added to the string of unforgettable memories interwoven in the fabric of their relationship.
“Oh, we’re not finished with the surprises yet,” he said, his voice radiating a playful mischief. Watching her reaction, Jooheon strolled closer, his footsteps soft against the rug. His smile was wide, twinkling eyes filled with a secret excitement she could not ignore. “For the next part of the surprise,” he added, his smile widening at her bewildered expression. “You get to be blindfolded.”
Drawing closer, he stopped before her, pulling something from his pocket. In his hand was a soft strip of cloth that he held towards her, a mischievous gleam in his eyes. She looked at the offered blindfold, a new wave of intrigue hitting her. Raising an eyebrow in puzzlement, she sighed and held out her hands to him, a spark of anticipation dancing in her gaze. He took her hands in his, gently squeezing her hand.
A slight chuckle escaped her lips, the sound mixing with her resigned sigh as she reluctantly allowed herself to be blindfolded. As the world turned dark under the blindfold, she could feel the excitement in the room escalating, his hand warm against hers and his chuckling voice humming gleefully in her ears.
Underneath all the absurdity and laughter, it was still their relationship. She couldn’t help but find the charm in these peculiar moments, lending their story a touch of warmth and adding to a shared tapestry of memories that was distinctly theirs.
Still holding her hand, Jooheon guided her out of the room, his voice humming their favorite Christmas song. Even without sight, she could sense him grinning at her predicament, which was both annoying and somewhat endearing.
With his hand on the small of her back, he guided her through the corridors till they reached the outdoors. The chilly wind against her face hinted they were outside their apartment. A car door creaked open, and Jooheon helped her inside, adjusting her blindfold slightly.
“I hope you’re ready for the next part,” he murmured in her ear, his voice eliciting goosebumps on her skin. His hand slipped away from hers, only to return a moment later to start the engine. The rumble of the car beneath them signaled the start of their journey as she sat blindly in anticipation.
The drive seemed to last forever, each bump and turn enhancing the suspense. She felt him squeeze her hand, heard him humming along to the radio, and smelt the familiar scent of his car - an odd mixture of his cologne and warm coffee. Finally, the car came to a halt. The soft gravel crunching under the tires indicated they were no longer in the city. Even with the blindfold on, she could sense a change in the atmosphere.
“You’re going to love this,” he murmured, helping her out of the car. Turning her in the direction of what she later discovered was the studio, he finally removed the blindfold. His eyes danced with excitement as he watched her reaction.
As the blindfold dropped, she was momentarily blinded by the sudden influx of light. Blinking rapidly, the scene before her gradually unfolded, her eyes widening in complete and utter astonishment. A sparkling, cheerfully decorated Christmas tree towered in the corner of the studio, festooned with twinkling fairy lights and shiny baubles. A huge banner stretched across the room, reading ‘MERRY CHRISTMAS’ in shimmering golden letters.
“What… Jooheon, is this…” she stammered, her eyes scanning the room in disbelief. Loud laughter echoed from a corner as Jooheon’s bandmates emerged, their faces lit up with joyful smiles and ugly Christmas sweaters.
She had mentioned in passing how she missed hosting Christmas parties because of her tight schedule. Seeing her disappointment, Jooheon decided to plan a surprise party with his bandmates. Their efforts had transformed the studio into a warm, festive haven brimming with love and laughter.
“Surprise!” he wrapped an arm around her waist, pulling her in closer. At her surprised expression, Jooheon’s eyes twinkled with delight. “Did you really think I’d forget your wish? I hope you’re ready to party!”
As laughter filled the room, she couldn’t help the smile that tugged at her lips, her eyes glistening with unshed tears of joy. At that moment, she realized that the wackiness, the mystery, and the surprises were part of the magic that was their relationship. She was finally living her dream Christmas party with the most important people in her life. The joy in the room was infectious, and in this moment, all the peculiarities were forgotten, replaced with a flawless memory that she’d cherish forever.

When you were asked at nine years old what you wanted to be when you were older, you had answered with “a doctor!”. Of course, that was before you grew up and realized just how many years of school and how much money went into being a doctor. You also quickly realized that you didn’t quite have the stomach for being a doctor—the sight of lots of blood made you feel queasy. So once you finished college, you found yourself working a short-term position at a corporate office downtown. After five years, that “short-term” position turned into a long-term position, and you had even been promoted twice.
Now, you spent your nine-to-five days in your nicely-decorated office, listening to music while you did your paperwork and took five-minute social media breaks. One of your favorite parts of the job, though, was going into the kitchen every morning at the same time to make your coffee.
Every morning, Monday through Friday, at exactly 9:15 a.m, as you walked into the company kitchen you were greeted by the lovely, raven-haired man who was also making his coffee. He flashed his pretty eye smile and dimpled cheek in your direction, immediately making your heart flutter.
Today, you noticed he was wearing a white button-down with the sleeves loosely rolled up to his forearms. His expensive-looking watch gleamed under the fluorescent lighting, making his already put-together demeanor seem intimidating. But you knew him well enough to know he was far from intimidating; on the contrary, he was the nicest man you had ever met since you started working here five years ago.
“Good morning, ________,” his honey-like voice rang through the room that only the two of you occupied at the moment.
“Good morning, Jooheon,” you replied as you met him in front of the coffee maker. It was in the middle of brewing, making a quiet humming noise as it poured the medium roast into the pot. Without a word, your handsome coworker grabbed your favorite mug from the cupboard—a plain white mug with a small smiley face on the handle—and handed it to you. Shortly after you thanked him, his mouth expanded as a yawn escaped it, “Still tired?”
He shrugged passively with an inkling of a smirk on his lips, “Didn’t get much sleep last night.”
“Hm, I wonder why that is,” you noted with the corner of your own lips starting to curl.
He was opening his mouth to reply when the kitchen door opened and another coworker walked in. Both of your eyes looked to the entrance as Lia, the fairly new and outgoing addition to your department, was entering with a cheery smile, “Morning!”
You and Jooheon greeted her just as the coffee machine was sputtering to a stop. The last few drops were falling as Jooheon gestured for you to go first. You obliged with a grateful smile, unaware that he only did it so he could watch you in your state of concentration. His office was on the other side of the floor from yours, so he rarely saw you during work hours. Moment like these were precious to him.
He liked watching your delicate hands rip open two packets of sugar and pour them into your mug. And the way you subconsciously hummed as you stirred the drink before taking your first sip. He wondered if you realized that your nose crinkled every time you took the first sip of coffee.
Jooheon hadn’t realized he yawned a second time until Lia commented on it, “Tired, Jooheon?”
He chuckled softly along with her as she went about heating up a muffin she brought from home, “Yeah, I was just telling _______ that I didn’t get much sleep.”
“Oh? You have a loud neighbor too, huh?” she asked, conversing with him as if you weren’t in the middle of them. You didn’t mind though.
“No,” he shyly confirmed, “I, uh, had someone stay over at my place.”
Her eyes seemed to perk up at the implication, “Is that so? Was this a special someone?”
“Yeah, you could say that,” he spoke casually as he poured himself a cup of coffee. It took everything in him not to watch you walk out of the room then. Part of him wished you had stayed to hear what he said next.
“Glad you had fun,” Lia remarked with a friendly, teasing smile. She took her warm muffin from the microwave, “I’m sure they’re lovely.”
“They really are,” he said under his breath, a stupid grin on his lips as he stared down into the mug sitting in front of him.

Later that evening, at 5:27 p.m, you pulled into the driveway of an apartment that wasn’t yours but might as well have been. You had spent almost every other night here for the past year, and your boyfriend made it a point every time you came over to tell you that you were practically wasting your rent money. Today was no different.
After you walked in and set your necessities down, you made your way to the living room where that familiar, dimpled grin greeted you yet again.
“Hello, gorgeous. How was work today?”
“Slow,” you sighed, plopping onto the couch beside him, his arm resting behind you. His hand rubbed your shoulder as he pressed a sweet kiss to your temple.
“Yeah, it was pretty slow on my end too,” he shrugged, “My morning was great though. I had the pleasure of making coffee with the most wonderful person at the company.”
You rolled your eyes as a knowing smile crept onto your lips. Even after all this time, his corny jokes still had this affect on you, “You’re such a dork. Speaking of, could you be anymore obvious?”
“What? Lia had no idea I was talking about you,” he laughed while you turned on the TV and flipped through channels for something to watch.
“You don’t know that. She may not seem like it, but she’s very observant,” you chided him softly, “Besides, it’s so unprofessional to talk about that at work.”
“My personal life?” he joked.
“That you didn’t get any sleep because you had someone over. Anyone with a brain can figure out what that means.”
“I think my coworker just might have their mind in the gutter,” he playfully poked your arm, “Also, do you like watching the channels switch or do you plan on actually picking a show to watch?”
You sighed again, “Nothing looks good.”
“Maybe instead of paying rent for an apartment you barely stay in, you should just move in and pay for the cable bill.”
You snorted and remarked sarcastically, “Why didn’t I think of that? I’ll have my bags packed in the morning.“
Jooheon was painfully aware of the joking tone to your voice, but today he was tired of the playful banter.
“I’m serious, you know,” his voice reflected his words, which took you off guard. Jooheon was always really friendly, outgoing, and light. It was rare to see a steely, unsmiling look on his face like the one he had now, “I want you to move in with me.”
His eyes met yours, and for a moment it felt like the world was melting around you. It was just the two of you. You loved Jooheon so much; you made sure to tell him at least five times a day. But moving in was a big step for any relationship, and you weren’t sure if you were ready to take it.
“You know we can’t.”
“Why not?” he asked, a sorrowful arch forming in his brow, “It might seem a little quick, but we’ve been together for over a year now. And it would make going to work a lot easier on the both of us.”
“That’s just it. We can’t go to work together,” you spoke quietly, “If our boss finds out we’re dating, we could both get fired. And I don’t trust our coworkers enough to not say anything if they find out. It’s too risky.”
“Then we just won’t carpool. We’ll drive to work in our own cars like we always do, and no one will ever know the difference.“
He sounded as though he was gripping onto the last string of hope he had—pleading. You were stubborn, and he knew that. He knew it would take some persuasion to get you to warm up to the idea of living together. But love made you do stupid things . . . like break your company’s no dating policy to date the new, cute, black-haired, dimpled-cheek guy in your department. You knew it was wrong, but everything felt so right with Jooheon.
“Y’know, at first it was weird having you over all the time. I never really had anyone stay the night, and I wasn’t sure how I would feel about it. But with you it felt so natural. When you leave in the mornings, I get sad because I have to wait twenty minutes to see you again. I hate not seeing you at work, and when I do, I have to act like we don’t sleep in the same bed almost every night. When you stay at your apartment instead of mine, my bed feels empty. I don’t want to feel like that anymore, _______.”
“Okay.”
“‘Okay’?”
“I . . . guess I’ll move in,” you relented. After all, he was right about you wasting your rent money. In fact, the last time you went to your apartment to collect mail, your neighbor had said they thought you moved out. So, maybe it wasn’t entirely outlandish for you to finally do it, “Not right away, of course. Only once my lease is up, then we can discuss move in plans, alright?”
It was more than alright. Jooheon’s smile was practically splitting his face in two with how wide it was. The best relationship he had ever been in was progressing, and he felt like he could dance or sing or both; he was so excited. The next thing you knew, you were being engulfed in the tightest hug imaginable.
“I love you, you know that?”
“You might’ve told me a few times,” you chuckled, your body melting into his embrace as you let him kiss your cheek three times, “I love you, too.”
By some miracle, you ended up finding a decent show to watch a few minutes later. You two settled back against the couch, talking about how fun it would be once you moved in. Jooheon mentioned how you two could actually enjoy your weekends together instead of thinking about you going home. Movie nights would be more frequent. He would have to make room in his closet for your stuff, but he didn’t mind. He couldn’t wait to go to sleep next to you every night knowing your face would be the first thing he would see in the morning. Everything felt like it was falling into place, and he couldn’t be happier.

“I’m gonna go down to the gym for a bit,” I announce as I step out of the bathroom. “Wanna come?”
Draping a towel over my shoulders, I face my cousin, who is lying on the bed still snuggled beneath the comforter, a Kindle blocking her face from view.
Peaking over the device, her lips turn down, “Meh, no thanks.”
I let out a chuff in amusement even as I grab my phone and room key.
“Welp, I’ll be down there for an hour or two if you change your mind.”
“Mhmm…”
I chuckle to myself, quite certain she didn’t actually hear what I said. She is already lost in whatever book she is currently reading. We’d driven down together to attend the long-awaited Monsta X concert. We had held on to our excitement until we arrived, the worry that it would be postponed, yet again, nagging at the back of our minds. All that pent-up anxiousness needed an outlet, and the gym would be the perfect place for me to get rid of some of it.
The event was tonight, but 7:30 seemed so far away, it only being 9 am. There was no way I could wait. Taking the elevator down to the first floor, it’s not long before I’m swiping my card against the black reader and stepping into the hotel’s gym. Thankfully it’s empty, and some of the tension in my shoulders loosens up. I make my way straight for the treadmill, popping in my earbuds as I begin to play an audiobook.
Tumblr media
An hour later, I’m just about to step off of the treadmill and move on to work out my arms when I hear the door click shut. Dabbing at the sweat on my face, I remove the earbuds and decide to leave instead. Looking up as I pick up my phone and room key to at least offer a smile to the incomer, I freeze for the briefest of moments as my eyes make contact with the person.
It’s freaking Jooheon!
He smiles back but frowns as I pass by him quickly, ducking my head as I make my way towards the exit. There is no way I am staying in there…alone…with him. Nope. Screw arms today!
“가지마 (Gajima-Don’t go).” He doesn’t say it loud, but it’s enough that I can still hear him. It’s almost as if he is testing me. Maybe to see if I would respond or keep going? Either way, it doesn’t matter. Just hearing his voice has me instantly stopping and turning to face him. “You understood me?” he asks, surprised. “You know Korean?”
I shake my head, my heart beating so loud he sounds a bit muffled to my ears. “No. I can’t speak it fluently, but I do know some words.” Then, tilting my chin towards him, I add, ”That one word you said is one of them.”
He smiles sweetly, his eyes turning to little slits as he waves me over.
“So you will stay? We can work out together.”
“Uhm, are you sure?” I ask even as I look around, wondering if I’m being pranked.
“Yes, come on. I’m Jooheon,” he reaches his hand out.
“I kn-” I stop myself, wanting to give him the opportunity to have a normal interaction. Instead, I slip my hand into his, and he shakes it gently.  ”I’m Y/N.”
“Nice to meet you,” he grins happily.
“Nice to meet you,” I chortle, then clear my throat. “I’m glad you asked me to stay. I kinda wanted to do arms anyway.”
“Ok!” he says, jubilantly clapping his hands loudly together. “I spot you; you spot me.”
I can’t help but giggle at his enthusiasm.
“You can spot me, but there is no way I’ll be able to help you if one of those bars comes down on your throat.”
He just laughs, “We won’t be using barbells.”
“Oh,” I say quietly as my cheeks warm.
He hands me a set of dumbells, and we start, going through various arm exercises that he guides us through. By the third rep, he’s standing behind me, tapping my shoulders lightly.
“Don’t bring them to your ears. Just relax.”
I nod my head, “Got it.”
We continue on, working through various dumbbell arm exercises. I take every tip and suggestion he provides, and I’m grateful the workout has my face flushed because every word of encouragement and praise he throws my way has me overheating.
Forty minutes pass when the repetitions become more difficult to complete. I push through the burn, wondering if my heavy breathing is from the exertion or his proximity as I begin to struggle. I grit my teeth, my arms trembling through the last few v-raises as they become much too difficult to execute.
“You got it,” he cheers me on. “You're doing so good.”
“I can’t,” I groan, wanting to drop the equipment but hating to disappoint him.
“Yes, you can,” he urges as he sets his own weights down. “Let me help you a little bit.”
Jooheon steps behind me, his body so close I can actually feel the heat radiating from him. His arms extend, and I watch through the mirror as the palms of his hands glide across my skin before gently pressing up at my elbows. His breath blows across my ear, and I have to bite down on my lower lip to suppress a sigh and a shiver. Swallowing thickly, my eyes shut in order to block out the image of us in the mirror.
“OK,” I say more to myself as I try to clear my head.
“Don’t forget to breathe.”
My eyes open, and he smirks at me through the mirror as if he knows the very inappropriate thoughts that are running through my mind.
“Right,” I nod, unable to think of anything else to say, and my face reddens even more as I try to look anywhere but at our reflections.
We lift together, his hands just barely touching me now as I focus on raising my arms without his help. We get through five before he takes the dumbbells from me.
“Good work,” he beams proudly as he puts the weights away. “I have to go now,” he informs me after glancing at his watch. “I have a concert tonight.”
“Yeah, I know,” I smile. “I’ll be there.”
“Really?” The smile he throws my way is so pleased; his eyes have disappeared into little slits again. “What seats do you have?” I tell him, and he tsks. “Let me get you something closer. I’ll leave a ticket for you at the box, ok?”
“You don’t have to,” I try and decline, not wanting him to think I want to take advantage of him.
“Let me, ok?” he insists with a pout. He looks around and grabs a brochure and pen that were near the door. “Put your first and last name here and phone number.”
“I’m here with my cousin….”
“There’s no problem. I’ll leave two tickets.”
I take the brochure and pen and find a spot where I can write my name and phone number.
“Here you go.”
Taking it back, Jooheon asks, “Do you want to come up and have dinner with me after the concert?”
Taken aback, I try to push down the panic and excitement as I battle within myself, wanting to say hell the fuck yes vs. I really really shouldn’t.
I mumble, “Mmm, I don’t know….”
“ I promise to be perfect gentleman.”
The glint in his eyes is telling me the opposite, and I smirk cocking an eyebrow at him, not hiding the fact that I don’t believe him. He shrugs and winks.
“Ok. Fine,” I find myself saying, a nervous flutter tickling my stomach.
“OK,” he repeats with a grin. “I’ll see you at the concert and then after.”
“Yes.”
He slips on a face mask. Then, placing a hat over his sweaty locks, he draws the bill down low and walks me out the doors.
“Thanks for the workout,” he murmurs through the face mask as he stops outside the gym.
“Anytime,” I shrug with a smile
“I’m going this way. Bye-bye.”
“Bye.” I walk in the opposite direction, a dazed smile on my face. By the time I step into my room, I’m wondering if the interaction has all been just a daydream. My cousin stretches drowsily in the bed but then sits up straight as her gaze lands on me.
“What happened?”
I plop down into the desk chair and wheel around to face her, my eyes still wide.
“You are never going to believe this,” I shake my head. “I’m still not sure that I even believe it myself, to be honest.”
“What is it?” she insists, pulling back the covers to let her feet plant firmly on the carpeted floor. “You’re making me nervous.”
“Guess who I saw at the gym?”
She eyes me warily even as she offers “Monsta X” with a snicker.
I cock an eyebrow at her, and she stills.
“You saw Monsta X in the gym?!”
“Not all of them, just Jooheon.”
“Jooheon?!” she nearly screeches. “As in your ultimate bias?”
I can’t help but grin now as I nod and tell her everything that happened. Suddenly my heart falls heavily into my stomach.
“I just realized he didn’t tell me his room number! How am I going to meet up with him after the concert?”
“Don’t freak out. You said you gave him your number, so maybe he’s going to call you. On the other hand, he’s probably just trying to play it safe,” she points out. “You just met, so it’s not like he can fully trust you.”
“That’s true,” I allow.
“Now, go take a shower and get yourself a nap. I have a feeling this is going to be a loooong night for you,” she wiggles her eyebrows suggestively at me.
“Stop,” I whine.
“I’m just sayin’,” she shrugs. “Your boy deserves the Gluck Gluck 3000, so Imma need you to deliver.”
“Oh my God,” I groan with a huff.
I shove her playfully, my face flushing pink at the insinuations. She falls onto the bed, clutching at her belly as she cackles boisterously. Her laughter is still audible even after I close the bathroom door behind me.
Tumblr media
“That was amazing!” my cousin sighs blissfully beside me as we make our way to the car.
I hum in agreement, my heart still racing from the experience of the hi-wave and the send-off.
“It sure was.”
“Your boy really had a hard time keeping his eyes away from you,” she bumps me playfully. I could only giggle because she was right. “That one time he crouched down next to us?” She shakes her head. “I have no idea how you are still alive right now.”
“I’m not,” I clutch at my chest. “This is my ghost you’ve been talking to since this morning, actually.”
“Well, you better get back into your body, girl,” she chuckles as we approach the vehicle. “Joohoney is going to need you alive and well.”
We both burst into laughter as we get into the car. While she drives off, I rummage through the totes we were given when we arrived at the venue.
“That was really nice of him to leave us gifts,” I murmur as I dig through the beanie, shirt, and baseball cap until I reach what I’m searching for. I take out the photocards and look at them again. “Having the guys autograph the PC’s, too? He really didn’t have to do that.”
“Yeah. That was super sweet. I know I’m not alone in thinking we would have been just as happy with only the tickets,” she smiles, genuinely touched by the gesture.
“No, I agree, for sure.”
The ride back was quick, the hotel only being ten minutes from the venue. I take a quick shower, and it’s not long after that I’m standing in front of the full-length mirror eyeing myself, disappointed sighs slipping past my lips as I turn this way and that. I am not satisfied no matter which angle I present to the mirror.
It’s not like I had actually planned on meeting any of the members of Monsta X, so I hadn’t brought anything fancy to wear. In fact, I was dressed the complete opposite of fancy. I was extremely casual in a pair of dark blue regular fit jeans, the flesh of my thighs and knees peeking through the random rips on the material. My top was simple, an olive green v-neck t-shirt that I tried to dress up with the same jewelry I had worn to the concert: a silver necklace with a bee charm that dangles delicately just above my cleavage, the Jooheon version of the TTG bracelet on my right wrist.
“He already saw you sweaty and in workout clothes,” my cousin tsks at me. “Stop bashing yourself. You look great.”
“Ugh,” I groan in exasperation. “Did you see how some Monbebe were dressed? They were gorgeous. How can I compete with that? That’s probably why he hasn’t called. He took one good look at me at the hi-wave and was like, ‘nah’.”
My cousin tugs me to the bed, and we both fall back onto it.
“You need to get those negative thoughts out of your head,” she commands firmly. “He gave you better seats; he gave you a swag bag,” she counts off on her fingers. Then looking at me, she adds, “He asked you to eat with him…while you were both funky from working out. He’s gonna call.”
I meet her gaze and see assurance staring back at me. I try and fight back a smile but fail miserably.
“Well, when you put it like-”
An instrumental version of “Magnetic” cuts me off and we both gasp, shooting up off of the bed.
“Oh shit!” my cousin exclaims. “Pick it up! Hurry.”
“What if it’s not him?” I fret as I snatch up my phone. “It says ‘Unknown Caller’.”
“Really?” my cousin deadpans. “Who else would be calling damn near midnight?”
I chuckle sheepishly and swipe my finger across the screen to accept the call.
“Hello?” I answer as nonchalantly as possible.
“Hello. Is this Y/N Y/LN? “Yes. It is. Who am I speaking with?”
I look up to see my cousin grinning across from me as the unfamiliar voice comes through the speaker of my cellphone.
“My name is Alex with the Monsta X US security team. I’m calling on behalf of Jooheon. If you are still interested in accepting the invitation, he extended to you, then please meet me at the elevator lobby of the 8th floor.”
“Yeah,” I nod dumbly. “Yes. I’m still interested. I’m just a few floors down, so I’ll be up in a minute.”
“Ok. I’ll see you then.”
The call disconnects, and I grab my cousin’s hands and squeal in a mixture of excitement and nervousness. She laughs and pulls me in for a hug.
“Don’t forget to breathe,” she grins. “And whatever they make you sign, just know that shit don’t apply to me, right? I need every little detail from the moment you walk into his room to the moment you leave. Got that?”
I giggle as she walks me to the door, “Oh, for sure.”
“Ok, here’s your key card, and you have your phone.” Hands on my shoulders, her eyes lock onto mine as her tone becomes serious. “If you become uncomfortable, or shit goes sideways, you call me. I don’t give a fuck what time it is. I took my shit off Do Not Disturb just for you, bitch.”
I smile fondly at her, “Well, I guess you really do love me. You don’t take your phone off Do not Disturb for no one.”
“You got that right.”
“But seriously, yes. I will call you if anything goes wrong.”
Giving me another hug, she opens the door for me.
“Now go have fun,” she winks as she wiggles her fingers at me.
I can only laugh as I step out into the hall and make my way to the elevators. Inside, I swipe the card, press the eight, and watch as it lights up. I feel my heart begin to beat unnaturally fast as butterflies flutter furiously in my belly. I’m so focused on breathing to relax that I jump when the elevator pings and the doors open. So much for calming my heart rate.
Waiting a few steps away from the doors is a man dressed in all black, possibly in his later 20s or early 30s. He motions with his hand for me to approach him. I step off of the elevator and hear the doors close softly behind me.
“You’re name?” he asks, and I answer automatically as I look around. There was no one else in this area. “ID, please.” I frown but open my phone case to provide him a view of my driver’s license. He nods, and I close the case. “I’m Alex. We’re just going to move over to the hallway. I have a form I need you to fill out. Do you know what an NDA is?” I nod. “Great. I just need you to read over it. If you agree with the terms, just sign the bottom, and you are good to go.”
“Ok,” I reply meekly.
As we come out of the lobby, we make a right into the hallway, where there is a table. Another man is sitting there, and he passes Alex a clipboard with a sheet of paper and a pen. I glance passed them to see a young woman in a pink halter top that exposes her toned abdomen. The matching mini circle skirt reveals a pair of long shapely legs. The white platform shoes she wears accentuate her lovely calves. She is absolutely gorgeous, and I can’t help but feel insecure about how I look compared to her.
I watch as the door she’s in front of opens, and the smile on her face widens as she steps in. Whoever answers speaks too softly for me to make out which member she was there to see.
“Here you go,” Alex draws my attention back to him as he hands me the clipboard.
I smile weakly at him, “Thanks.”
Looking down at the sheets in front of me, I swallow thickly as I skim over the words. I would not be able to post about the encounter on social media. I would not be permitted to post pictures taken during my time with Jooheon. If I violated the terms of the agreement, I would be fined. Depending on the extent of the information released, I could also be sued. I had no plans on blabbing about my time with Jooheon…except with my cousin. No one would believe me anyway. Signing at the bottom, I return the clipboard to Alex.
“Thanks,” he smiles down at me as he passes it to the other person. “Come on.” I follow quietly behind him, my palms beginning to grow clammy. “You can keep your cellphone, but keep in mind what you just signed. Anything that happens once you are with the artist cannot be shared in any form on social media. You cannot speak to journalists or the news. Got it?”
I nod, “Got it.”
“Ok, go ahead and knock,” he instructs. “Have a good night.”
“Thanks. You, too,” I reply as he begins to walk away.
Taking a deep breath, I bring my hand up to rap my knuckles against the door. I catch sight of my watch lighting up with 00:00 just as the door opens. I feel my entire body shut down as Jooheon comes into my line of vision. When I see that he is dressed in a pair of blue jeans and a black and white striped tank top, not something fancy, my body restarts, and I offer him a bashful smile.
“Come in,” he smiles back as he widens the door. “The food’s already here. Is that ok?” I look over at the coffee table in the center of the room to find it loaded with various containers of food, two shot glasses, and several bottles of soju chilling in a bucket of ice. “I was missing home, so the staff sent up Korean food.”
“I like Korean,” I nod as he draws me in closer to the food after closing and locking the door behind us. “Oh, uhm, my shoes,” I pause before going any further.
“You can leave them by the door, or you can keep them on if you want.”
I glance over my shoulder to see his shoes by the door, so I go back to leave mine right next to his.
“So what exactly do we have?” I ask as he guides me to sit on the carpeted floor.
He hands me a pair of chopsticks and then begins to open everything, naming the different dishes as he goes.
“This is tteokbokki, and this is mandu. Here is tonkatsu. I also have bap, uh rice, and salad.”
He smiles at me, and I glance over everything, looking for a plate of my own. Not finding one, I look back up at Jooheon.
“Uhm…is there a plate…”
He chuckles endearingly at me, a small hint of amusement twinkling in his eyes.
“No, no. We share food. We eat together from same plates.”
Right. Here’s to hoping I don’t make a mess in front of the one person I admire so much.
“OK,” I look down at everything nervously.
Jooheon grabs his phone and loads a slow R&B playlist, adjusting the volume down low before setting his phone on the table. At first, we ate quietly, letting the music fill the hushed space. I’m too focused on making sure I don’t drop anything I find I don’t feel awkward anymore. With the smooth, melodic tunes playing soothingly around us, it actually feels quite comfortable, and I let myself relax. It’s not so bad being close to him, so close our knees keep brushing against each other as we reach over for different assortments of food. No, it’s not so bad when I’m not looking directly at his face.
“It’s good, right?” Jooheon catches my attention just as I bring a thick piece of tteokbokki into my mouth.
“Mhmm,” I hum with a few nods as I try to chew through the gummy morsel enough to be able to swallow it down so I can offer a proper reply. Jooheon chuckles as I clear my throat. “Everything is so good. I skipped dinner, I’m surprised I didn’t pass out during the concert,” I admit. “But I’m glad I didn’t eat before because this is soo yummy, and I wouldn’t have had room for it.”
“Oh! Come, you have a little something….” Jooheon murmurs distractedly even as his hand reaches out towards my face. My eyes widen, and my breath catches in my throat as he palms my cheek. Just when I was starting to feel at ease, I groan internally. I feel the blood drain from my face as I wonder: Is it time? Is this his way of telling me he’s ready to…to… His eyes flick to mine, searching as he says, “You’re shaking. Are you cold?” I swallow thickly, my cheeks flushing slightly as heat creeps back up. I shake my head, and his brow wrinkles as he assures, “I’m not gonna hurt you, ya know?”
I nod, “I know.” Unable to take the intensity of his gaze any longer, I look down at my hands. Not liking that I caused him concern, I let out a shaky breath, admitting, “I just…I like you too much, so I’m just… I’m really nervous.”
Jooheon uses his index finger to lift my chin, gently forcing me to look back up at him. “But you don’t even know me.”
The slight smile he gives me deepens his dimples, but the gesture does not fool me. It doesn’t quite reach his eyes, and the ache in my heart at his tone tells of the weight the words carry. He’s right, though. I don’t know him. Not really. I see what he allows the world to see, the version of him the company portrays. But that’s just a part of him, not all.
His thumb wipes away whatever had been at the corner of my mouth, and I watch, entranced as he brings the digit to his mouth. My own lips fall slightly open when he begins to suck at his thumb, my breathing growing a smidge heavier. My thoughts stutter to a halt, and my tongue swipes slowly across my lips. Jooheon winks, removing his thumb and returning to eating as if nothing had just happened.
Meanwhile, my heart struggles to settle down, my core is throbbing, and my underwear is beginning to grow unpleasantly damp. The rice cakes I’d just been munching on seem unnaturally thick now as my throat grows dry. I reach over for a bottle of water. Twisting off the cap, the contents are nearly gone before I realize Jooheon is watching me with a bemused smile.
“What?” I awkwardly wipe the back of my hand across my moist lips.
He chuckles, and it does nothing to help my sudden unquenchable thirst.
“Nothing,” he shakes his head, a closed smile showing just how tickled he is with me. “Ready for some soju?”
Maybe that would help relax me.
“Yes.”
“Let’s go!”
I grab a piece of tonkatsu and watch him as he takes one of the green bottles from the ice bucket. First, he swirls the bottle around creating a little tornado inside. Next, Jooheon flips the bottle upside down and knocks the bottom with his elbow. As he brings it right-side up, he twists off the cap, and then, opening his index and middle finger, he jabs at the neck of the bottle, spilling a very small amount onto the table.
“Oh!” I exclaim, pleased by the display. “Fancy.”
“To Y/N, for coming to see Monsta X and cheering so loudly.”
I laugh as he serves me a shot, but as he moves to pour one for himself, I stop him.
“Let me.” Jooheon’s eyebrows rise, but he doesn’t stop me. “I might not know much about your culture, but I do know you’re not supposed to pour your own shot.”
“Ok, you know what’s up.” The impressed smile on his face makes my own widen.
I cup the bottle in both hands and pour him a shot. “To Jooheon, who worked so hard and always does his best to give us great music.”
“Aish, I’m honored, but none of that two-hands stuff, ok? We are friends, right?”
“Uh, yes?”
He sucks his teeth at me, pretending to be upset, and I can’t help but snicker. We both pick up our shot glasses, and he lifts his up towards me.
“Geonbae!”
“Geonbae!” I parrot.
I giggle as he clinks his glass with mine before we both throw back the shots. I suppress a shiver as the liquor slightly burns a warm path down to my stomach.
“Good?” Jooheon cocks an eyebrow at me.
“Real good,” I admit. “Another?”
“Ok!”
He pours me another shot, and I do the same for him. We swallow those up, and I can feel the liquor already easing my nerves. He says I don’t know him, but would it even be possible for me to change that? After tonight, would it even matter if I knew who he was besides Monsta X’s Joohoney? I decide that, even if it’s just for a few hours, it is worth knowing the man that’s sitting right next to me.
“So,” I speak up, using liquid courage. “How have you been?”
Jooheon looks up mid-bite, “Well, we’ve been real busy preparing for the concert. I’ve been working hard on perfecting my steps….”
“I’m sorry,” I stop him. “While it’s nice to know about your work, I’m not here to interview you. I don’t want to know about Joohoney. I want to know how Lee Jooheon is.”
His eyes squint at me, his index finger pressing pensively at his lips. Had I overstepped? Maybe he didn’t understand? I only meant for him to feel like a person, not an idol, if even for tonight. I open my mouth to clarify, but at the same moment, he straightens up, and the warm smile returns to his face.
“Ok,” he starts. “Thank you for asking about me. I appreciate that.” He pats his chest as he says this. “I actually been doing really good. Of course, I miss my family, and just like anyone, I have days when things are a bit too much in my head, but now I have ways to help me work through it, so…” he shrugs.
“That’s really good to hear. I can’t imagine living the life you do,” I shake my head. “It just all seems so overwhelming.”
“Idol life is a tough one, that’s for sure, but I get to travel, meet new people, and make music, which is what I love to do. No one ever got to live their dream without some hard work, so it all seems worth it for me.”
We go back and forth, asking each other questions for some time before we realize we’ve gone through three bottles of soju. I’d been having so much fun getting to know the “real” Jooheon that the time just blew by. I’m already feeling a little fuzzy in my brain and definitely far more relaxed than when I first came in.
Nodding my head to his latest reply, I then ask, “Ok, so what have you watched recently that you think I should watch, too?”
“Ya! That reminds me. I was hoping we could watch a movie,” he says as he starts to get up and clear off the bottles and containers of food. “Unless you have to go….”
“No. I can stay,” I reply, maybe a little too quickly, even after I glance at my watch to see it’s almost 1:30 in the morning. Despite the food and alcohol, I’m surprised to find I’m not sleepy at all.
“Are you sure? What about your friend?” he asks, a bit too casually.
“My cousin,” I correct. “And she’s fine.”
“Ok, ok. Well, I’ll just clean up here, and we can start it.”
I help him clean up the remaining garbage. His room was different than mine in that it had a living room area, and the bedroom was separate. I glance around for a bathroom. All that alcohol was wreaking havoc on my bladder.
“Is it ok if I use the bathroom?”
“Yeah, sure.” He tips his chin towards the open doorway beside the couch. “It’s in there.” I make my way there but stop at the entrance. Peering in, I’m surprised to see everything so tidy. I’m not sure why I’m so amazed by the neatness of the space. I just figured an idol is too busy to clean up, clothes and snacks strewn everywhere. But this looks like no one had even slept in this room yet. “It’s ok. You can go in.”
I look over my shoulder to see Jooheon smiling reassuringly at me as he wipes his hands on his jeans. He shoos me with his hands, and I head straight into the bathroom, locking the door behind me.
The bathroom is clean as well, a light scent of men’s shower gel clinging to the air still. As I sit to relieve myself, I shoot my cousin a quick text.
ME: Everything's good. Jooheon’s super sweet, and we’re having a really good time just talking and drinking.
I set my phone down, finishing up, not expecting a reply, but as I button up, I hear the vibrations on the bathroom counter. Washing my hands, I dry them quickly and open the new message.
COUSIN: Talking and Drinking? Is that what adults are calling it these days? 😜
ME: 😅Nope. Everything is still PG. We are about to watch a movie.
COUSIN: 🤭Enjoy the “movie” I’ll be here reading for a bit more. Call me if you need me.
ME: I will 😘
COUSIN: 😘
Locking my phone, I slip it into my back pocket and look at my reflection in the mirror. My eyes are literally glittering in the bathroom light, and my cheeks hold a blush that tells of the laughter and maybe the alcohol we had been partaking in. I smile giddily at myself, whispering, “holy shit!” as I turn around and exit the bathroom, only to halt in place as I switch off the light.
Jooheon is sitting up in bed, legs crossed at the ankles and phone in hand as he loads a movie he is casting from the device.
“Hey! Just in time,” he waves me over. “Come. Sit.”
“We’re going to watch it here?” I fidget with the hem of my shirt.
“Yes,” he shrugs as he stands. “Comfier. Sit. My turn,” he points behind me.
He squeezes my shoulder as he walks past me and into the bathroom. I approach the bed and look down at it. Jooheon slept here, I think to myself. I’m going to be sitting on the same bed as Lee Jooheon…with Lee Jooheon, I correct.
Shaking my head, I force the thoughts out, put my phone on the nightstand, and climb onto the bed. By now, I think I’ve pretty much given up on the idea that anything will happen between us. Maybe he was not looking for someone to fuck tonight. Perhaps he was just wanting to have a casual night with someone outside of Monsta X. Someone to do ‘friendship’ things with. That would make sense why he picked me versus any of the pretty Monbebe I saw today. I try not to feel too disappointed as I make myself comfortable. Either way, I was having fun just hanging out with him. Propping up a few pillows behind me, I’m adjusting my shirt when he comes out.
“Ready?” he asks as he turns off the light in the room.
“Yeah, what are we watching?”
“One of my favorite movies, if that’s ok? It’s called ‘Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind.’ Have you seen it?”
“Never heard of it,” I admit.
“진짜 (jinjja)?!”
Jooheon’s mouth drops open, his eyes wide as he stares at me. I cover my mouth as I try to hold back a giggle. He looks so cute when he looks at me with that shocked expression.
“Yeah, really,” I snicker.
“Yah! You have no idea what you’re missing!” He’s swift to sit next to me on the bed and press play from his phone. “Let’s get it!”
I let out a little laugh but quiet down as the audio begins. The movie draws me in as I feel myself relating to the male protagonist. The quirkiness of the female protagonist soon has me laughing at her antics. It’s not long before the sweetness of the blossoming relationship takes a dramatic turn.
“What?!” I scrunch my face. “Why is he crying? Was there a time jump I missed?”
Jooheon chuckles, “You have to watch and see.” I purse my lips at him, and this makes him laugh. “Stop,” he bumps my shoulder. “I won’t spoil it for you.” He pats my hand and then laces his fingers with mine. I look down at them, loving how natural it feels. Sobering up, he asks, “Is this ok?”
I nod, murmuring, “Yeah.”
“OK.”
We both return our attention to the movie, but my heart has started fluttering behind my ribcage. His hand is so soft, warm against mine, and I love how it feels.
“Wait, I thought this was a rom-com,” I stiffen when things become a little strange. “Is this actually a scary movie?”
“I told you I’m not going to spoil it,” he smirks at me. “Are you scared?”
I shake my head, “I wouldn’t say scared, but maybe a little…on edge. It seems like it’s going the way of horror.”
Jooheon presses his lips together to keep his features from giving anything away.
“I can hold you if you want. You know, if you’re scared?”
“N-” I stop myself. Am I really turning down the opportunity to be held by the one person I believe to be the most handsome man in the world? When will I have this chance again? “I mean, if that’s ok with you….”
“Yeah, come.”
Jooheon lets go of my hand, patting the space in front of his now spread legs. I try to force any inappropriate thoughts from my head as I maneuver over his leg in order to sit where he directs me. I nestle against his torso and fight to hide a smile as he snakes an arm across my chest while his other hand settles on my hip.
Instead of feeling awkward, the position feels comfortable, and we continue to watch the movie. Occasionally the hand at my hip would squeeze, and I swear it was as if he were touching me directly in my most intimate place. Then, halfway through the movie, when he shifts his arm to stretch it, he accidentally grazes over my breast, and I audibly inhale as a jolt of electricity shoots down straight to my core.
Jooheon stiffens for a moment. The handle I believed I had on my impure thoughts seems to disappear, and my hips shift, seeking any sort of friction to soothe the ache that had been building between my legs the whole night. Jooheon draws in a shaky breath just as his hands glide down my ribcage and to my hips. A grunt escapes my lips when he hooks his fingers into my belt loops and tugs me up high and tighter against him.
“Well damn,” I breathe.
The soft chuckle he lets out into my ear has my eyes closing. My tongue swipes slowly across my lips as his hands trail back up to cup my breasts.
“You want me to stop,” he murmurs, “just tell me.”
I nod my understanding, whispering back, “It’s ok,” as if I were afraid the spell would break.
Those beautiful hands of his that I had always admired in photographs or from my screen now squeeze at my covered tits, and I can’t even keep from arching into his palms, soft moans spilling from my lips. He reaches down for the hem of my shirt, and for a second, I feel panic. The thought of this man seeing me without clothes just seems so overwhelmingly out of this world. It’s something I never imagined would ever happen that, even as it’s currently going on, my brain just cannot wrap itself around it. He shimmies the shirt up and over my head, and I’m grateful that the only light comes from the tv.
Jooheon picks up the necklace from my chest and asks, “Did you wear this for me?”
I can hear the smile in his words as he toys with the little bee charm.
“Yes,” I glance away from his fingers.
“That’s cute.”
“Stop,” I blush.
Jooheon chuckles then nips at the top of my ear as he drops the necklace. I let out a gasp when he returns his attention to my bra-covered globes. His thumbs brush over my nipples, the nubs instantly hardening even more. I grip onto his thighs, trying to find something to steady me. The muscle there is thick, hard beneath my palms, and my mind conjures up some very erotic images of me riding one of his thighs.
Wasting no more time, his fingers trace a path down to my jeans, where they deftly release the button. My breath catches as my attention hyper-focuses on his hand as he slides the zipper down and then slips beneath the hem of my underwear. The instant the pad of his finger glides over my clit, a shock of electric heat shoots throughout my body. The sensations feel way too good; I can no longer hold my head up and let it fall against his chest.
Jooheon delves lower and soon discovers exactly just how much I am enjoying everything so far. A mixture of a purr and groan rumbles in his throat as he swirls his finger around my juices, pulling a moan from me. Bringing his focus back to my most sensitive bundle of nerves, I feel like I’m going to lose my mind. His movements are slow at first, stoking the embers that he had already lit with his previous ministrations. I don’t even realize he’s brought a hand back up to one of my breasts until he’s pinching at my nipple. He pulls the cup down, removing the barrier, and the warmth of his hand directly on my flesh is searing hot. His thumb flicks rapidly against the pebbled nub, and the fingers at my clit also pick up the pace.
“Oh, God!”
I rut against his fingers, my cheeks flushing with heat not only from the pleasure that is building but also from shame. I am utterly mortified at how desperate I am for him. Yet, at the same time, I can’t stop myself. My hips roll of their own accord, faster, more desperately, and I push away all thoughts seeking more of what he is offering. I focus on how good he is making me feel. His slim fingers, slick with my arousal, slide so smoothly over my sensitive bud, making my back arch and my eyes to close tightly.
“Shit,” I pant.
I can feel his erection poking at my back, and I wish so badly he would just fuck me with it already.
“That’s it,” he presses his plush lips to the back of my neck. “Just let go.”
He sucks at my ear, moaning softly as his fingers speed up. I bite down on my bottom lip, trying to quiet my moans.
“Let me hear you, baby.” Jooheon’s voice is low, gravelly with lust. “Say my name.”
I gasp loudly as stars burst behind my eyelids. A flood of warmth shoots through my body, and my hands push roughly down on his as my clit throbs.
“Oh, fuck, Jooheon!” I grit out as he brings me over the edge. “Jooheon!”
My hips jut forward a few more times as his fingers try to move beneath the vice-like pressure my hand has on his wanting to drag out my release. As over sensitivity soon takes over, I pull his hand away and attempt to catch my breath. Jooheon kisses my head tenderly, his hands soothingly coasting up and down my arms as he waits for me to come down from my high.
Holy shit! I think to myself. Did that just really happen?!
As the bliss of the moment slowly ebbs away and reality sets in, it’s all I can do not to freak out. I am so grateful he can’t see my face and the grin I am fighting so hard to keep from breaking out on my lips.
“괜찮아 (Gwaenchana-Are you ok)?”
The deep timbre of his voice breaks into my rampant thoughts. Am I ok? “Mhmm,” I nod dumbly.
Hell yeah, I am!
“Let me see,” he insists.
I press my lips together as I sit up, fixing my bra before maneuvering around so that I am now kneeling between his legs. Jooheon has a very pleased grin on his face that makes it difficult to keep one of my own from finally breaking free.
“See?” I say playfully.
Jooheon lifts a hand up to my chin, his thumb swiping across my mouth. His eyes darken, the stare intense as he watches me. Instantly, my heart thrums back to life behind my ribcage. Then, like a magnet, I’m drawn down towards him. Jooheon stretches to meet me part way, and we both swallow each other's sharp inhales when our lips finally crash against each other.
And his plush lips feel even more incredible than anything I could have imagined. Jooheon wraps an arm around my lower back, pulling me tighter against him. Hands on his shoulders, I wriggle out of his hold and break the kiss. I’m going to lose my mind, with how good he looks. His cheeks are flushed, and his lips are swollen from our passionate kiss.
“Where are you going?” he whines with a pout.
“Not far,” I tease. “Just returning the favor.”
“Returning the fav-” His voice trails off as I reach for the button of his jeans. Eyes locked on my hands, he breathes out, “Oh….”
I can’t help but giggle as he eagerly lifts his ass to help me get his jeans and boxers off. The cock that springs out in front of me is achingly pink and stiff. Knowing he got this way just from touching me greatly boosts my confidence. Tossing the pants over the edge of the bed, I look up to see Jooheon cock an eyebrow at me.
I huff out a short laugh, “Fine.”
I hop off the bed. With my jeans already unbuttoned and unzipped, it only takes me two seconds to remove my own pants and socks. They join his pants on the ground with a hushed thump. As the movie continues to play in the background, I return to the bed to find Jooheon completely naked. In the short time it took me to take off my pants, he’d removed his tank top and socks.
Lying on the bed, his teeth nibbling on his bottom lip, he is complete perfection. The dim lighting the TV provides does nothing to diminish the soft glow of his tanned skin. Though he is not bulky with muscle, there are still shadows cast across his lean upper body and abdomen that beg to be traced and explored.
Crawling back between his legs, I watch the abdominal muscle beneath his skin contract in anticipation. My nipples tighten behind my bra as my own core contracts at the sight of him. I flit my eyes up to meet his heavy-lidded ones and watch his Adam’s Apple bob anxiously in his throat as I bring my mouth closer to his weeping dick. The hiss he lets out as his tip meets my tongue is music to my ears. He tries so hard to keep his eyes open, to watch as I wrap my lips around him, but his head falls back as he lets out a deep groan, hands fisting in the comforter. Flattening my tongue and relaxing my jaw, I slowly take him deeper and deeper inside my warm, wet mouth.
“Oh, shit,” he curses as he looks back down.
His pupils are completely blown out, his eyes appearing black as they watch me intently. Seeing him so wrecked because of what I’m doing emboldens me. Lifting up to lap at the tip of him, my fingers envelop his shaft. He reaches a hand out to cradle my head, urging me to take him in again. I don’t fight it, letting him guide me back down along his length. My hand and mouth work in tandem, sliding up and down his cock. Hollowing my cheeks, I swirl and curl my tongue around him, and the long-drawn-out groans that it pulls forth from him have moans and whimpers of my own vibrating up my throat.
I can feel him growing harder against my tongue, so I’m slightly surprised when his hand shifts from my head down to my chin and tilts it up. His dick slips out of my mouth with a lewd pop, and he almost looks like he regrets stopping me.
“What?” I ask as I wipe the back of my hand across my lips.
Had I done something wrong?
“Fuck,” he breathes, closing his eyes. Looking back down at me, he pats his lap. “Come up here.”
I smile in relief and eagerly obey, straddling him. His mouth is instantly on mine, his hands sliding down to grab my ass. Wrapping my arms around his neck, it feels as if I just can’t get any closer to him. Our bodies roll against each other, and by this point, my panties are completely ruined. I feel one of his hands trail up to my bra and unclasp it. He breaks the kiss to help me remove it completely. It joins the pile on the carpeted floor.
Delving down, his plump lips latch onto one of my nipples. My back arches, giving him easier access, and I reach behind me to grab at his cock, stroking him as he sucks on me. My hips roll, seeking friction to ease the tension that is building.
“Jooheon!” I whimper.
“Ok, baby,” he murmurs as he moves to my other breast.
Though I had cum already, seeing him like this, hearing him like this, his mouth all over me, I was ready again for another.
“Please, Jooheon,” I plead.
I was so far gone that I didn’t care; I was begging. I wanted him, needed to feel him inside me so badly; I didn’t care how needy I sounded at the moment.
He chuckles before kissing me between my breasts. Leaning back, he hooks his finger on my underwear and snaps it against my skin.
“Take these off.”
I nod, scampering off of him to remove them in record time. I throw the sodden material into the darkness beyond, drawing another chuckle from Jooheon.
“Hush,” I chastise him playfully.
He leans over to grab his wallet from the bedside table and pulls out a condom. Dropping the wallet back on the table, he makes quick work slipping the rubber on. Jooheon coaxes me back to his lap. Spreading wide, I help him guide his dick to my entrance. We both let out blissful moans as I slowly slide down his length. The stretch has my eyes closing, and I can feel his hands digging into my sides.
Bottoming out, we both take a moment to let me adjust to the intrusion. He peppers my chest with opened mouth kisses that have another layer of slickness coating my walls and his cock. I have never been so aroused in my life. I rock my hips and feel him twitch inside me, his hands tightening at my hips. I let my hands rest on his shoulders, using them to help me lift higher only to slowly grind down on him.
“Damn, baby,” Jooheon purrs.
He matches my rhythm, and we are both panting, drawing ever so close to the release we are both seeking. At first, his hands loosen at my hips, letting me lead. The more desperate we become, his hands grip fervently to my hips, helping me move faster over him.
“God, that feels so good!”
I’m so close that I can barely focus. My walls constrict and release around Jooheon, and his head falls back. My hands slip behind his neck, my fingers gripping the strands there. His eyes widen, flitting to mine, and I feel him pulse inside me as a deep groan rumbles up from his chest.
Fuck, that’s so hot! He is so close; I can feel it, as am I. I roll and rock my waist, taking him in deeper. One of his hand's snakes in between us. The pleasure intensifies as his fingers find my clit; my head falls back, and my eyes shut. It’s all so much.
“Look at me, baby,” Jooheon grits out.
“Jooheon,” I whimper as I struggle to comply.
Meeting his gaze, I let out a moan at the sight of his fucked out face. Sweaty strands of hair cling to his forehead and temples, his cherry lips look completely ravished, and his own eyes are barely opened slits, but it’s enough. It’s enough for him to see me and know he’s got me just as whipped.
“Turn around for me, baby,” Jooheon urges.
Through my haze, I manage to get off of his lap. My limbs feel heavy, but I get on my knees and forearms anyway. His palm caresses my ass and gives it a gentle smack. Fuck, I think I’m going to lose my mind! Aligning his cock with my center, I don’t even have a moment to take a breath. He’s thrusting into my soaking wet cunt with no warning.
“Oh my God!”
I can feel a jolt of pleasure instantly tremble through me. In this new position, I can feel every inch of him. Each thrust feels so deep and tight I can only babble incoherent words and curses as I push back into him. I snake my hand between my legs and delve my fingers into the slickness there. I hiss at how swollen and sensitive my clit is. Instantly, the pleasure heightens.
“That’s it, baby,” Jooheon pants. “Touch yourself.”
Glancing over my shoulder, Jooheon bites down on his lip, and my fingers speed up. The visual and sensations are just too much, and the little bit of control I had been holding onto snaps.
“Fuck, Jooheon!”
My back arches as I clamp around his dick, my walls thrumming and contracting around him. Jooheon’s thrust quicken as he chases after his own ecstasy. My face falls onto the bed, my ass lifting higher. The angle brings him deeper still inside of me, and it’s enough to push him over the edge. A long deep groan falls from his lips as his eyes squeeze shut, the grip on my hips vice-like. His hips stutter up into me, and I can’t help but moan as I feel him pulse inside of me as he cums hard.
My body feels like jelly, and it takes the last bit of energy I have to turn my head to face Jooheon as he collapses beside me. Jooheon’s smiling face is there to greet me, and I can’t help but return the gesture.
“Hey,” he grins as he scoots closer to me.
“Hey,” I murmur drowsily.
Brushing the hair from my face, he caresses my back tenderly before kissing my shoulder.
“Gotta clean up,” he winks at me, and I can’t believe I dare to blush after all we’ve done.
Burying my face in the comforter, I nod, and he laughs. I feel the bed shift and then hear the click of the bathroom light switch. Forcing myself up, I locate my bra and underwear. After putting on the bra, I slip on the underwear, wincing to find they were still slightly damp in the crotch area. Making my way to the bathroom as well, Jooheon is just washing his hands when I walk in. He gives my ass a pat as he walks out.
“Hey,” I swat his arm in feign annoyance, and he just laughs.
I use the toilet, clean myself up, then wash my hands and face. Rinsing my mouth with the sink water, I finally feel clean enough to go back into the room. Jooheon was under the comforter staring at the TV. That’s right. The movie was still playing. It was pretty late now. Was Jooheon expecting me to leave now that everything was finished? I eye my clothes that are currently on the bedside table instead of the floor. Hmmm. Was that a hint? I approach the pile and reach out for the shirt.
“Can you stay a little longer?” he asks.
I feel a flutter in my stomach.
“Are you sure?” I ask, the initial insecurities creeping back up.
“Yes,” he replies, pulling the comforter down for me to slide into.
What did I have to lose?
“Ok.”
I get in, and he throws the comforter over me.
“Come closer,” he whines.
He meets me part way. Opening his arms towards me, I slide into his embrace. Tucked in comfortably against his chest, the drowsiness pulls at my eyelids.
“Good night, Jooheon,” I yawn and snuggle into his warmth.
“Good night, Y/N,” he parrots, kissing my head.
Tumblr media
What is that? I wonder groggily as a loud, incessant sound accosts my ears. I peel my eyes open just when Jooheon lets me go in order to lean over to grab his phone. Turning off the alarm, he groans in displeasure. Rolling back towards me, he pats my arm gently.
“Y/N, baby, you have to wake up.”
“Mmm,” I grunt with a pout and snuggle back into his chest.
I feel the bed shake with Jooheon’s amused chuckles.
“I have to get ready. We are flying out in a few hours.”
“Mmm,” I pout some more, but then I do sit up.
Throwing back the covers, Jooheon gets off the bed and turns on the bedside lamp. I crawl out after him and zombie-walk to my clothes and put them on. I fix my hair as best as I can, and then Jooheon walks me to the door. This had all felt like a dream for me, and I truly did not want it all to end already. Reaching for the door handle, I gasp when Jooheon pushes me flush against it instead, his lips latching onto me so fast my head spins. I wrap my arms behind his neck as I lift up on my tippy toes to press myself further into him.
“I wish I didn’t have to go yet,” he laments as he kisses down my neck. His hands squeeze at my ass as he grinds into me. I can barely think. Only moans and heavy breaths leave my lips. “I really had a great time.”
“Me, too,” I sigh out.
“I want more time with you,” he murmurs into my neck, “But I’m going to be late.”
“We def can’t have that,” I chuckle.
He drops a few more kisses on my lips before he pulls away.
“I hope we can do this again,” he smiles down at me, his dimples deepening.
“Well, you got my number, so,” I shrug, and he laughs.
“I’ll call you,” he nods.
“You’ll call me,” I repeat, my eyes flicking away to stare at his chest instead.
“I will,” Jooheon insists.
He pulls me gently away from the door.
“Ok,” I nod, trying to ignore the excited flutter in my heart.
He pecks my lips one last time. “Ok. I’ll see you, Y/N. Bye.”
“Bye.”
Jooheon opens the door for me, and I step out into the quiet hall. I don’t dare look back, and after a few paces, I hear the door click shut. I see the security table ahead, and Alex is still there, keeping watch with the other guard. He stands up, and I try to avoid eye contact.
“Enjoy the rest of your day, Ms. Y/LN,” he calls as I walk past.
Oh god! I think to myself as my body flushes from head to toe.
“Thanks, Alex,” I glance up quick enough to see the knowing smile on his face. There’s no judgment, but I still feel embarrassed suddenly. “Have a great day, too.”
I ride the elevator alone, and I am thankful. Peeking at my phone, I see it’s just about 4:15 in the morning. Jesus, I am going to be the worst passenger when my cousin and I start our four-hour drive home later today.
Entering our room quietly, I grab fresh underwear and my PJs and head into the bathroom to take a shower. I could still smell the powdery fresh scent of Jooheon on my skin, and I hated washing it away, but I get under the hot stream of the showerhead and scrub my body with my body wash until I was clean again. Dried up and dressed again, I tiptoe to my bed and quietly get under the covers. After making sure my alarm for ten am is still activated, I close my eyes and fall asleep.
Tumblr media
“You look rough, girl,” my cousin laughs as we place our bags in the trunk of the car. “I hope Jooheon feels the same.”
I glare at her with a humph as we enter the vehicle.
Buckling up, I admit, “I’m exhausted, my head is thumpin’ a little, and I just want to sleep for a hundred years.”
“Daammn,” she drags out the word as she pulls out of the hotel parking and onto the main road. “He wore you out that much, huh?” I let out an unladylike snort, and my cousin laughs. “So, tell me what happened. What’s he like?
“Well,” I try to fight off a smile, but my cheeks burn with the force of the grin that graces my lips. “He really is the sweetest, gentlemanly guy I’ve ever met….”
I spare no detail from the moment I stepped out of the elevator up to the moment when things got a little heated.
“That Alex guy seems pretty cool,” she comments.
“Yeah,” I agree. “He made an awkward situation seem rather normal. Which is what makes me wonder how often they do that, you know, have people sign NDA’s?”
“Who knows,” she shrugs. “I wouldn’t be surprise if it’s quite often, and I wouldn’t be mad about it either. They are grown men, after all, and have their needs.”
“Yeah, I know,” I nod, looking out the window a bit distractedly. “It’s just; I don’t know, Jooheon said he’d call me… I just… my worry is that he goes to the next stop and hooks up with someone else… which he has every right to,” I rush to add. “I don’t know; I guess I just got my hopes up, and that’s my own fault.”
“No, I get it,” my cousin nods. “He said he’d call. Only time will tell if he makes good on that promise. It’s only been a few hours. No sense in stressing about it.”
“You’re right,” I concede.
“In the meantime, let’s car karaoke!” she shimmies in her seat as she passes me her phone. “We got a long ass drive.”
I laugh but pull up our karaoke playlist, and we begin to sing.
Tumblr media
About two hours into our drive, there is a ping on my cell from an unknown number. I open up the message and gasp as my heart rate picks up. My cousin lowers the music.
“I think it’s him,” I whisper.
“Yeah?” she glances over quickly at me before returning her eyes to the road. “What’s it say?”
UNKNOWN: I know I promised to call, but i’ve been busy. I finally had a minute while heading to do another interview. Did you get home, ok?
I read out the message and then ask, “Do you think it’s really him?”
“I mean, who else could it be?”
“Alex?” I deadpan.
“Alex?!” she bursts into laughter. “Say that to him and see what he says.”
ME: Who’s this?
UNKNOWN: Aish. Really? Who else can it be? Did you forget me already?
ME: Well, I have to be sure. For all I know, this could be Alex.
UNKNOWN: Alex? Who is Alex?
My cousin and I burst out into hysterical laughter.
UNKNOWN: Are you talkin about security alex?
UNKNOWN: Why would it be him?
“Ooop,” my cousin purses her lips. “Ya boy’s getting jealous.”
“Stop, no he’s not.”
But I smile at the possibility of it.
ME: If this is really you, tell me something from last night (this morning)...
I watch the three little dots blink, disappear and then reappear before his message comes through.
UNKNOWN: We watched ‘Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind.’
“Oh, yeah. It’s him,” I say after reading the message aloud.
UNKNOWN: better said it watched us😜
“If I had any doubts, he just squashed them,” I say as I pat my heated cheeks.
“What’d he say?”
“He says the movie actually watched us.”
“Ooooh, girl!” she smacks my shoulder. “That’s actually really hot.”
“Aggh, I’m so embarrassed.”
“Don’t be,” she reassures me. “Sex is natural, and if he’s making comments like that, he enjoyed his time.”
“I guess so….”
“You guess so?” She shakes her head. “I know so. Now reply to him before he thinks you are a prude.”
“Oh, Lord,” I roll my eyes playfully.
ME: Alright, you little flirt, I see it’s you.
UNKNOWN: 😏
UNKNOWN:  Save my number.
Me: Ok
Honey: I have a few interviews and practice, but I’ll be free around 1030 tonight. If you want to try watching the movie again I can call you.
ME: Really? We can do that?
Honey: I’m sure we can. We’ll figure it out.
Me: Ok. yeah. I’d like that.
Honey: We just got to the radio station. I gotta go. I’ll talk to you later.
ME: Bye
Putting my phone away, I look out at the highway flying by. This all felt like the best dream ever. Never did I ever imagine this would ever happen.
“Alright now,” my cousin brings my attention back to the moment. “You better do your makeup and put on a nice outfit tonight. But first, you should get some sleep as soon as we get home.”
I chuckle even as I give her an incredulous look.
“Why are you always trying to put me to bed?!”
“What?” she tries to plant a stoic expression on her face but cracks a smile instead.  “I’m just saying. You have no idea how long you will stay up this time.”
We both burst into raucous laughter, and I’m so grateful at least one of us is thinking properly because my mind is already racing. My mind is just blown at having the chance to get to know the real Jooheon.
I don’t know how long this will go on, but I’m going to take a page from my cousin's book. I’m going to let myself enjoy it all while it lasts and not waste time on the what-ifs.

------
Holiday dinners with friends is one of your favorite types of get-togethers; getting to catch up with all your friends, share traditions, and eat? You couldn’t think of a better way to spend the holiday, but every year there is a new person. Or rather a child, to get a present for and meet. You never thought you would get to the age where your friends had kids of their own. It was a strange feeling to go through because moments ago, you were a kid, and now you’re the adult that kids look forward to seeing during the holidays. You guys were still in your youth, but now you were watching other kids grow up too.
The two of you arrive at Hyunwoo’s house with your two platters of cookies for everyone to devour. “You get the thumbprint cookies, and I’ll get the chocolate cookies?” Jooheon asks as you get out of the car. You nod, grab the tray of thumbprint cookies, and follow him to the door. He rings the doorbell, and Kihyun lets you in, sporting the newest edition of the Yoo family. “I see you have your arms full.” You say as you walk in, “So do you!” You laugh and ask, “Well, what’s their name?” He grins and goes, “Her name is Ember!” Which causes her to reach up towards him, and he holds his finger out to hold. He follows you into the kitchen, and you place down your cookies. You smile and cheer, “Well, hello there, little Ember!” Before turning to him again, “Smoldering coal?” He nods, “Yeah, and also sounds beautiful too.” You agree, “You have me there.” Before parting from Kihyun and her, she holds her hand out to you, which you gently shake, which causes her to giggle. And you make your way further into the house, just to be attacked by six kids coming up and wrapping themselves around you.
“Oh, you little snowballs!” They all giggle, and you try your best to hug each one of them, “Alright, did you already attack Honey?” They all eagerly nod, and you see Jooheon just out of reach, “He sent you, didn’t he?” They all nod, and you shake your head and laugh. “Well, did he tell you we brought some cookies?” They all gasp, and you show them the way. They get two each out of the pans, and Kihyun says, “You’re going to ruin your dinner!” From further away and you whisper, “He’s had one already. He can’t say anything. Feast my darlings!” They all snicker, and you stick your tongue out towards Kihyun before finding Jooheon again.
You lean your head on his shoulder, “I missed you.” He laughs, “We were apart for ten minutes.” You laugh, “I know.” He kisses your head and whispers, “Me too.” You stay like that for another moment before parting, “I’ll see you later?” He nods, “I’ll miss you until then.” You head to the kitchen while Jooheon heads to entertain the kids.
You ask if there’s anything to be done, and they ask if you can make the table. You nod, grab the plates, and start setting up the long table. “You need help?” Hoseok asks, and you go, “Yeah, do you want to do the forks while I do the knives and spoons?” He smiles, “Sure.” You smile, grab the knives and spoons and follow him around the table. “I heard you were adopting. Did you two choose yet?” He smiles, “Not exactly, but we think we’re going to adopt a set of twins we met a few days ago.” You nod, “After the holidays?” He shakes his head affirmatively, “Yeah, that’s why we’re waiting, actually. They wanted to spend the holiday with their friends there.” You smile, “That’s sweet, so are you two excited?” He grins, “Yeah, I hope we can make their transition easy and make sure they can stay in contact with their friends. We’re going to do everything we can.” You nod, “You guys are going to make great parents.” He smiles, “Thank you.” You smile back, “It’s no problem. I’ve known you two for the past five years of my life. You both are true sweethearts, and I know you’ll raise amazing people.” He nods, “Thank you again.” You pat his head before hearing commotion in the living room.
“That’s it?!” The kids cry, and you hear laughter, “What are they crying about?” Hoseok grins, “I think Edward told the kids the story of how we met.” You shake your head, “It was a simple but sweet story.” And that’s when you start hearing them go, “Uncle Jooheon! Uncle Jooheon!” Hoseok motions for you to get going, and you wave to Edward, who finally manages to escape the kids. “They’re rallying against him!” You laugh and say, “They sure are,” before popping your head into the living room.
Jooheon spots you as the children whine, “Uncle Jooheon, please tell us how you and (Y/n) met!” Jooheon gestures for you to join him on the recliner, and you sit on the armrest. He wraps his arm around you and goes, “Well, pull up an ice block and lend an ear.” The kids look confused for a moment before grabbing a pillow and sitting in front of you two. He taps his chin, “Where should I start, the week before?” You roll your eyes, “They’ll be here until next year if you do that!” And he laughs, “That’s only a few days away, and I’m sure their parents wouldn’t mind one bit.” The kids whine as he continues talking about anything but the day he met you. He grins, “Okay, okay! I guess I’ll tell you, little snow people.”
“I was heading back home for Christmas, a week in advance. I thought that was going to save me from the storm.” He pauses, and Kihyun yells from the kitchen, “But it didn’t!” The two of you laugh and whisper to them, “But it didn’t.” He continues, “That one told me I should have taken the flight a few days earlier, just in case, as he had. But I'm glad I didn't. I think it was the best decision I ever made.” He looks up at you as he says that, and you grin and whisper to him, “I think so too.” Before you told your side, “You see I had gotten the same advice, but I decided otherwise as well.” They nodded along, “But aren't airports humongous!? How did you even meet there?” The eldest of Kihyun’s kids asks, and you agree, “Of course they are. But when your flight is no longer happening, and you’re stranded. You make friends fast, ones that help you charge your phone.” You look over at him as you say the last line, “That day, I forgot to bring my phone cord. I thought I would be fine cause it was only a few-hour flight and I didn’t need to worry. But after I finished getting through security, our flight was canceled.”
You pause so they can absorb the information, and before you can, “Then this beautiful person sits next to me. And if I had a weaker heart, I would have passed out. We didn’t speak for an hour or so. I spent that hour looking up from my phone over to them, wracking my brain for something to say, when (Y/n) went–” You interrupt with, “Do you happen to have a phone cord on you?” And Jooheon whines, “That was the best part!” You and the kids giggle before you say, “Oops, but after all, I said it in the first place!” He rolls his eyes, “I had quickly nodded and said I did. And dug it out of my bag and handed it over. Thankfully, we had the same kind of phone.” The kids nodded, “But how did that lead to anything?” The eldest asks again, and you sigh, “At first, it didn’t, considering it was just him being polite. I plugged my phone in, and that was that. We didn’t talk for a while, but I kept looking over at the handsome individual who lent me his cord.”
The kids pout at this, “That’s it!?” The two of you shake your head, “No, that was just the beginning. It would take another thirty minutes before he spoke up.” Jooheon rolls his eyes, “Okay, I was getting my courage up. You don’t come across someone that blows you away often.” The kids groan, and Jooheon laughs, “Hold on, I’m getting there! I tapped their shoulder and asked what they were listening to, and they told me it was-” “(B/n).” “Oh, I’ve never heard of them before, what's a good song by them? That’s how we started talking about music, and it evolved from there, talking about what we would be doing if we weren’t stuck here and whatnot.” Hyungwon’s son asks you, “What's 'whatnot'?” And you both nod resolutely, “Whatnot.” Hyungwon comes into the room and goes, “They just mean that they talked about everything that came to their mind at the moment.” The six, ‘oooh’ at that, and you both laugh.
Hyungwon pulls his son onto his lap and leans against the couch, “Is this the part where you two talk about sharing–” Causing the other five kids to look over at him and the both of you shoot a glare toward him, “That’s our favorite part! Don’t ruin the surprise!” The two of you whine, and the kids all excitedly look toward you two again Jooheon says, “We decided that it was more than likely that we wouldn’t be departing on a new flight until after Christmas, especially with the weather forecast.” They all nod eagerly, and you continue, “We decided to grab a cab that was luckily still picking up passengers and went to a motel to share a room.” You wait for them to go ‘ew,’ but it doesn’t come, so you both shrug and tell them, “So we ended up at a nice motel that luckily had a room for two available.” Hyungwon interjects, “I thought it was a dingy mothball motel.” Jooheon groans, “No one can have rose-colored glasses nowadays.” Hyungwon smirks, “No.” You sigh, “It was a dingy mothball motel, but it was nice for a motel. We didn’t get any bedbugs all week.” Hyunwoo’s daughter asks, “You stayed together all week?! What did your parents think?”
The three of you snicker, and the kids all share a confused glance. “My mom was happy I was safe.” You say with a smirk to Jooheon, who hides his laugh in your side, knowing that’s not what either of your parents thought when you said you were sharing a motel with a stranger for a week. “His parents were glad he was safe too.” You nudge him, and he collects himself before going, “We spent that lovely week getting to know each other.” Hyungwon laughs loudly, knowing the kids wouldn’t catch on, before Jooheon looks over at you and smirks, “We exchanged our first kiss together in that motel.” And all of the kids cry out, “Ew! Cooties!” You smirk and whisper to Jooheon, “Wait until they find out how they were made.” Which makes Jooheon chuckle before saying, “Anyways, that’s the story of how we met.”
The kids immediately find a new target, the one who was laughing at the two of you. Hyungwon. Who got pestered until he told him how he and his lover met. You sit down from the armchair and onto Jooheon’s lap and look at the ring on your finger, “It hasn’t been that long, has it?” He shakes his head, “No, not long enough.” You grin and kiss his dimpled cheek, “I love you, Honey.” He interlocks your ringed hand in his, “I love you too, Bumblebee. I hope we can be married for many more years. Maybe the kids will figure out that the meeting was just the beginning.” You grin, “We have many more stories to tell.” He nuzzles his nose against yours, and you stay like that. Luckily none of the kids were watching, or they’d be yelling about cooties. You whisper, “I’m so glad we met all those years ago.” He hums in agreement, and you two contently listen to Hyungwon’s story, even though you’ve heard it quite a few times.

Lee Joo Heon
Joohoney (MONSTA X)
Deck: Crow + Zodiac Dice
Spread: Ideal Partner
Body - 2 of Swords
Joohoney’s perfect match might struggle with what feels like themselves. They might feel torn between two contradicting lifestyles and sometimes they can seem rather eccentric. This person can give different vibes to different people and might even seem like having more personalities. They are not very good at keeping eye contact and might seem shy on the outside.
Heart - 7 of Wands
At heart, Joohoney’s significant other is someone who fights their way through life, who might have struggled in the past to get where they are now. They probably overcame many obstacles, faced many challenges and became rather resistant, feisty even. They might sometimes sound bitter or cynical but they actually do still keep hope at heart and they are not the type to easily give up when things get tough.

Joohoney’s special person is likely a deeply rational person, they probably learned to approach life with a certain amount of suspicion and with caution. They don’t rush to conclusions, they don’t act upon haste and they keep a cool head in crisis. They are likely well respected for these qualities.

Deep down in their soul, Joohoney’s perfect match is a person haunted by their own inner demons and doubts. They are likely secretive and don’t share much about their thoughts with just anybody. They might suffer from nightmares or anxiety attacks at times of big pressure.
Time - 2 of Wands
Joohoney and his significant other can meet through some sort of collaboration. They might need to work together on a project and they grow close with time. The 2 is a low number so it’s likely they might start as friends with their relationship slowly turning into something more.

BEST FRIEND MONSTA X A⇴Z HEADCANON ⇴ Lee Jooheon
Tumblr media
A ⇴ ATTENTION
When you were with Jooheon, his attention was always on you. He listened attentively to every word that you said, even if you were talking nonsense then he would still keep his eyes on you and listen in.
B ⇴ BICKER
You both could be pretty childish and petty with one another if you wanted to be. Jooheon especially could bicker; he would talk and talk and talk often leaving you struggling to get a word in when the two of you did bicker as he drowned you out and made sure that his opinions were heard over yours.
C ⇴ COMFORT
For all the times that he wanted to make you laugh, Jooheon knew when to stop joking around and be there for you. He could be very serious when he knew that something was upsetting you, and if it was someone that was upsetting you then he would definitely offer to put them in their place if that was what you wanted him to do.
D ⇴ DISAGREEMENTS
The two of you didn’t tend to disagree with each other too often, most of the time when you started arguing one of you would end up saying something funny and calm the two of you down once again. Jooheon especially could tell whenever he was beginning to wind you up and so he would change his approach and try and be more understanding of you as there was nothing worse for him than falling out with you.
E ⇴ EARLY YEARS
You both took a shine to each other almost as soon as you met, conversation seemed to flow between the two of you in an instant with the two of you feeling very relaxed around one another. Jooheon was incredibly good at picking up conversation as soon as it began to fall flat between the two of you so that you continued to talk to him and get to know more about him so that your friendship.
F ⇴ FAMILY
Jooheon’s family were very welcoming of you from the first moment that they met you, they’d listened to Jooheon talk about you enough to know that you were someone that they would get on with. If anything, you exceeded all expectations when you met them though, more than happy to tell them about yourself, share some stories about Jooheon and get stuck in with all of the things that they did together as a family.
G ⇴ GETTING TOGETHER
You never shied away from being seen out in public together, neither of you really cared what others had to say about your friendship. If fans were rude to you, Jooheon would always have your back, just wanting to enjoy some time out with his best friend like most of the other people who were around you were doing too.
H ⇴ HABITS
The two of you had a habit of mocking each other without even realising that you were doing it sometimes too. You both knew each other’s mannerisms inside out and often used them against one another when you were messing around and trying to get some sort of reaction out of the other person.
I ⇴ INSIDE JOKES
Having inside jokes was inevitable between the two of you with how often Jooheon struggled to bite his tongue. He was often engaging mouth before brain and leaving you in hysterics at the things that he came out with which had you making sure that you remembered as many as possible to reflect back on.
J ⇴ JEALOUSY
It wasn’t that Jooheon was ever jealous about the other people that you considered friends; he was just very wary of them. There were a few people in your friendship group that he absolutely trusted, but there were also a few that he felt that he needed to keep a close eye on. All he wanted was for you to surround yourself with good people who took good care of you, even if that person wasn’t always him.
K ⇴ KICKS
Jooheon got a kick out of winding you up quite a lot of the time, he knew the perfect way to get a reaction out of you, no matter how stubborn you were. Particularly if you were in a strop with him, Jooheon loved when he was able to leave you no choice but to crack a smile because he was making you laugh so much.
L ⇴ LOVE
He loved the fact that you supported him all the time, but most of all, Jooheon loved supporting you too and watching you do well and succeed at as much as possible. He knew that at times you doubted yourself and that you compared yourself to his successes too, but Jooheon was always your biggest cheerleader and gave you plenty of confidence that you could do whatever you put your mind to.
M ⇴ MEETING
The two of you first met when you found yourselves in a café together, with you working, and Jooheon relaxing. Your tables were next to each other, and as you sat and worked on your laptop, the nosy side of Jooheon couldn’t help but ask you about what you were working on with intrigue getting the better of him.
N ⇴ NONSENSE
Together, the two of you loved to just mess around with one another and relax. You were well known for how stupid you could be when you were together, with no one really knowing what either of you were thinking.
O ⇴ OBSESSION
Jooheon was obsessed with how well you took care of him. He absolutely knew that you would always be there for him and that he could rely on you with any problem that he had to help him through it.
P ⇴ PRECIOUS MOMENTS
The moments that meant the most to Jooheon were the ones when the two of you went out and did something fun. He loved doing normal things with you, he didn’t care if he was spotted with you or if rumours started to spread about the two of you being together, he just loved exploring with you by his side.
Q ⇴ QUESTIONS
He often worried about how you were, that was Jooheon’s most important thing. Every single day he made sure to ask you what was going on and if something was on your mind, he’d make you open up to him.
R ⇴ RANDOM FACTS
Your friendship was the inspiration behind many of Jooheon’s raps, when he thought of you and the way that you made him feel it made it pretty easy for him to put pen to paper. Even if others didn’t always know it, he would rap knowing that there was only ever one person who had given him the idea to get it done.
S ⇴ SUPPORT
You were a big fan of the group anyway but having your best friend in the group definitely made you support them even more. Jooheon loved how much of a fan you were of them, how you knew the routines and the lyrics to just about every single song so when he saw you in the crowd, you were always singing along.
T ⇴ TRIPS
Pretty much anytime that the two of you went to visit one of your families, the other tagged along. You were incredibly welcomed by Jooheon’s family, and your family always loved it when he stopped by with you too.
U ⇴ ULTIMATE
He felt incredibly lucky to have you as his best friend, Jooheon never took your friendship for granted and the things you did for him.
V ⇴ VISITS
There would always be a shy smile on his face whenever you visited him at the studio unexpectedly. He hated how you always managed to surprise him and pick him up when he needed a little boost whilst there.
W ⇴ WISDOM
One of the things that Jooheon never failed to do was make you laugh with the silly advice that he often gave to you to help you out.
X ⇴ XXXX
He was affectionate around most people, but Jooheon was particularly affectionate with you. He never shied away from you; he often kissed the top of your head too when he was overly excited about something.
Y ⇴ YOU
You were his childhood; he had spent several years glued to your side.
Z ⇴ ZZZ
Quite often Jooheon would invite himself round to stay at your place before even asking you if he could. Jooheon was always full of confidence that you would never be able to say no to him when he stopped by.

Chapter 16b
"It’s ridiculous," Julie told Ivy on the phone.
"I agree that it is a disproportionate amount, but the owners of the club say they will not accept less than that to rent the club".
"What about the fair? Do we have news from them?"
"I’m trying to pressure them a bit, but they know we want to record on-site and they’re taking advantage of that," Ivy replied. "If they find out what’s going on with the club, they’ll probably ask for more money too".
"I will not pay more" Julie said. "The offer was already generous, asking more than that is simple greed... No".
"Well, do you have a plan?"
It was Saturday morning and no, Julie didn’t have any plan B, she just knew she wasn’t going to give up.
"Give me a few hours to figure out what to do, although we probably have to find somewhere else to film," she replied.
"I’ll get a team to do a research of other locations, but we are running against time, Julie."
"I know," Julianne said with a sigh. "But this is all very strange... Something is not right. I’m going to tell Areum-ah to look into it because I’m sure something else is going on. For the moment, I will go to the fair to see if they can give us an answer today".
"Okay, Julie, we’ll talk later."
When she hung up the phone, Julianne started thinking about how to solve the whole thing. She had just gotten up and it was only 6:30 in the morning. The fair opened at 10 a.m. but it was an hour and a half drive, so she would have to leave her house at 8 a.m. to arrive before they opened and be able to talk to the owners.
At least I can bathe and have breakfast, Julie thought as she went into the bathroom.
An hour later, Julie was bathed, dressed, had finished breakfast, and was taking the last sips of her coffee when someone rang her apartment bell. Surprised, she opened the door and ran into...
"Jooheon-ssi?" she asked.
"Good morning, Jules," he replied. "Ready?"
"Ready... for what?"
"Areum-ah didn’t tell you?" he asked, surprised. "She told me she would call you..."
"Wait a minute..." Julie said as she went to get her phone. "Mmmm, come in... if you want".
Jooheon entered the apartment and Julianne went to get her cell phone. She had left it on her bed, so she hadn’t heard it vibrate when Areum called her three times. She also had multiple messages from her friend and the last one was an audio:
YAH! Julieeee, answer the phone, will you? Ivy already told me what’s going on and I’m going to investigate the matter with the club, but I don’t think you should go to the fair alone. Neither I nor Ivy can accompany you, so I called Jooheon to take you... and don’t come at me angry or resentful. I gave him your apartment address, so he should be here any minute. Don’t fight!.... And next time, answer your phone!
Well, Julie’s thousand questions were already answered.
Since she had already finished breakfast, she grabbed her bag and cell phone and went into the living room.
"Did you talk to Areum-ah?" Jooheon asked.
"Yes, she already explained... Come on, we have to get there before they open".
******
"Mr. Jung, how are you? This is Seo Julianne from Highlight Entertainment," Julie began on the phone. "I wanted to know if you have a few minutes free today to talk about the rental space for filming a music video. If you have any questions or concerns regarding the previously proposed terms, we can go over them again. We are now a little short of time and your confirmation is the only one we are missing. I know you are a very busy person, but I would appreciate it if you would give us a few minutes of your time today to talk about it. Please call me as soon as you hear this message. Have a nice day".
Julie cut the call and sat on a park bench in front of the fairground attractions.
It was 10 in the morning and people were lining up to enter. Both had arrived about 30 minutes ago and the staff had told them that Mr. Jung and his son had not yet arrived, but that in any case the weekends were extremely busy days, so the chances of talking to them were minimal.
"You know he’s not going to call you back, right?" Jooheon said sitting next to her. "He’s going to call you a day before the filming asking for some... 10 thousand won more to rent the place".
"And you know that because..."
"Because I’ve seen it a thousand times," Jooheon replied. "It’s probably not the first production team that asks for the place, so they know that there are always a few thousand won extra in the budget and that producers have the authority to use it with discretion".
"I see" was all Julie said.
They remained silent for a while until Jooheon stood up.
"Come on," he said.
"Yes, I guess we have to go back to Seoul and..."
"No... Let’s go to the fair," Jooheon said. "I haven’t gotten the chance to ride any type of attraction in years, come on."
"Are you crazy? We can’t go".
"Why not?"
"Well, for starters, we have to see how we solve this" Julie began. "And secondly... someone there can recognize you and the last thing I need is a thousand girls screaming in my ear".
"Well, let’s see, for starters, it’s easy: we found another place. Do you have any other place in mind?"
"Well... no, I’d have to..."
"Well, then we can’t do anything with point one," Jooheon cut. "And with the second problem, here I have an advanced technology device that will help me camouflage myself... I present you: the masks".
Julie couldn’t help but laugh drily.
"Come on, I promise you they won’t recognize us. And even if they do, they’ll think it can’t be me because what are the chances?" Jooheon insisted. "Besides, we’ve come this far, the least we can do is take advantage of the trip, don’t you think?"
******
Three hours later, Julie couldn’t feel her feet anymore.
She had spent all morning following Jooheon from one attraction to another. She didn’t understand how he still had energy and had to beg him to stop to rest and eat something. So there she was, sitting at an outdoor table, as far away as possible from large groups of people, waiting for Jooheon to bring their lunch.
Tomorrow my back will kill me, Julie thought as she lay on the table.
"Lunch is served, Jules," Jooheon said upon arrival.
He was holding two hot dogs and two packs of instant ramen. He also took two boxes of juice out of his pocket.
"Wow, slow down, Jules," Jooheon said. "If you eat so fast, you’ll get sick".
"Don’t start, I’m hungry" she replied grabbing the juice box. "It wasn’t me who dragged you all over the park".
Jooheon just laughed and watched as Julie flipped the juice box and tried to open it underneath. Since they were in school, Julie had a unique way of drinking the juice: she always tried to put the straw through one of the corners in the bottom because she said that was how you could drink the pulp and not only the sugar.
Jooheon also remembered that the girl always made a mess, so he took the juice box from her hands before half of its contents were spilled on her clothes.
"You know, this is the last thing I thought to do for you after seven... eight years of not seeing each other," the rapper said as he opened the box at the bottom. "Here".
Julie did not answer as her mouth was full of food, so they both continued eating in silence until they finished.
"Ready?" Jooheon asked when he saw Julie finishing her meal.
"Yes, let’s go back to Seoul and..."
"Hold on, Jules" Jooheon cut it off. "There’s a place we have to visit first".
Julie sighed and tried to contain her anger.
"You’re fucking kidding, aren’t you?" Julie said softly. "Didn’t you get on all the rides at the fair? What else do you need?"
"I need you to trust me and follow me," the rapper said standing up.
Julie had no choice but to follow him. After all, he had the car keys, and a taxi from there to Seoul was very expensive; also, Julie didn’t know what bus to take to get out of there and her cell phone was running out of battery and...
"Stop thinking so much, will you?" Jooheon shouted at a distance. “I can see your brain cells working on how to dump me here. It’ll only be 20 minutes, I promise".
"20 minutes" Julie repeated between her teeth and followed the rapper.
Jooheon left the fair and started walking to the opposite side of the parking lot. Around there were many green areas that people used to walk around, have picnics, go on dates... So there were a lot of people, but Jooheon took them down a less crowded road.
The cobblestones on the floor indicated that they were not lost and that it was an official road, but as they advanced there were fewer and fewer people.
"Yah, Jooheon-ah, do you at least have any idea where you are going?" Jules asked exasperated.
"Of course" he replied. "Besides, I still have 10 minutes of grace. Come on, I think we are close".
Julie followed him in silence with her eyes fixed on the floor. By not looking forward, she did not notice when Jooheon stopped and hit her head on the rapper’s back.
"YAH! Jooheon-ah..."
"We’re here, what do you think?" he said.
Julie looked up and... didn’t know what to say.
They were in a part of the park that was empty, probably because of how hidden the road was and the fact that there were tall trees all around. However, the place looked like something taken from a fantasy book: there was a large kiosk in the center adorned with lights and colorful fabrics. Some fabrics reached the top of the trees, giving the feeling of being under a huge tent. In addition, all around there were statues of fantastic characters such as a guminho, a dragon, a white tiger, a black turtle, and a dokkaebi, all with a brick base with lights that were probably illuminated at dusk. That was not all, the grass was cut in a way that, seen from the kiosk, presented spiral designs.
"Where are we?" Julie asked.
"Well... I’m not sure of the name," Jooheon admitted. "I saw the colors of the fabrics when I was on top of one of the roller coasters. As I was in the first seat, I could take a look around before we went down and it seemed strange. I got on the ride again to confirm that I had not dreamed it and you see, here we are".
"That’s why you got on three times in a row, to see the place".
"Weeeell, yeah," the rapper admitted. "It occurred to me that we could use this place as a plan B. After all, the part of the fair you wanted to use was the part where the circus tent is with the lights on the poles, right? This could work out. Just ask permission from the local office, the procedure can be a bit complex, but anything is better than paying more to those..."
"THANK YOU!" Julie shouted hugging Jooheon and taking the rapper off guard. "Yes, we can use it, and being public, the cost is not so high... All we have to do is figure out what papers to file, but I think Areum-ah knows someone who can help us with that. I’m gonna call her and..."
"Wow, calm down Jules" Jooheon stopped her. "It’s Saturday and it’s almost 3 in the afternoon. Areum-ah is sure exhausted after the week you guys had, why don’t you tell her on Monday?"
The comment was completely harmless, but Julianne felt a bad taste in her mouth. Anyone with eyes would have noticed that she was jealous, but Julie simply threw away the feeling and pulled herself together.
"Well, at least we have this place" she agreed. "Thank you for your help, now we can go to back to Seoul and I can investigate more about it".
Julie started walking and Jooheon followed her quietly. The girl was behaving very strangely and Jooheon was not a very patient person to deal with unexpected mood swings. Anyway...
"Jules, while we’re here, how about going to the club?"
"I do not know..."
"It’s on our way and as it’s Saturday, the owners will be there to oversee sales. You could try talking to them one last time and decide if we need a new set".
"Maybe, yes..." Julianne agreed. "But, you shouldn’t go".
"And why not?" Jooheon asked in surprise. "I’m sure I know more about clubs than you do".
"That’s not why, Jooheon-ssi," she replied.
And back to the formalities, Jooheon thought.
"As you said, it’s almost 3 in the afternoon and, if I understood correctly, you can’t work on Saturdays afternoons," Julianne explained.
SHIT, thought Jooheon.
"Who told you that?" he asked.
"Ivy"
Arggg, shit
"Ahhh, sure," Jooheon said. "Don’t worry, Jules. She probably told you that so my schedules wouldn’t clash with other projects, but today I’m free. I’m all yours".
Julie wasn’t entirely convinced. Jooheon was speaking an octave higher than normal and that happened when he was nervous and when he was lying.
"Look, I promise you won’t have any trouble, okay?" continued Jooheon. "We’re just two friends going out on a Saturday afternoon".
Julie didn’t quite believe him, but she wanted to get over with it as soon as possible, so she just agreed.

“Look, I’m not saying it’s the best idea I’ve ever had, but it’s not the worst either. That’s progress.”
“Is that the standard we’re shooting for? Because this is kinda a big deal.” Jooheon didn’t look convinced, and you couldn’t blame him. Hauling a couch up to a third story balcony with ropes and a prayer was sketchy as fuck.
“We haven’t moved in completely yet. If all else fails, we cut and run.”
“We will not.” He sighed and dropped the ropes. “I’ll call around and see who’s free to come over and help us get it upstairs. Told you we should’ve hired movers.”
You made a face. “Excuse you? You said to save money wherever I could! This was a do-it-yourself opportunity!”
Jooheon shook his head as he focused on his phone. You’d never hear the end of it. With a sigh, you turned back to the moving truck and grabbed a box. Maybe pizza would shut him up.

Day 12 | Lee Jooheon
Paring: Lee Jooheon x Reader
Genre: Fluff
Warnings: none
Rating: G
Word Count: 663
Prompt: Gingerbread House Competition
Masterlist
Tags: @doveslittlekpoparchive @choicethot @xosunny @heaviihamonii
If there was one thing Y/N found adorable about Jooheon, it was his little pout. He would do it a lot; if he was upset, the bottom of his lip would often jut out, showing his disapproval, or it was a sign of him being unhappy about something.
One of the highlights of Y/N and Jooheon’s relationship was their annual Christmas competition. This tradition started out as a friendly rivalry. Still, it eventually grew into an anticipated yearly event with chocolate chip cookie bets and playful banter, not just for the couple but for their friends who loved the spectacle.
This year, the challenge was making gingerbread houses. Y/N couldn’t suppress a smile when she announced the competition, already anticipating Jooheon’s pout when he lost, which was almost guaranteed. She had a knack for baking and thrived in the imaginative world of delectable architectural design.
The rules were simple. Each participant had 3 hours to create their gingerbread house masterpiece using only edible items. A group of their friends would serve as the judges, who wouldn’t know who made which house to ensure impartiality. Jooheon looked at her with a determined gleam, accepting the challenge without hesitation.
During the competition, Y/N couldn’t help but chuckle at Jooheon. Sweating slightly with flour in his hair and icing around his bottom lip, he meticulously assembled his gingerbread pieces. Every so often, he softly muttered under his breath, planning his design and occasionally stealing glances at her structure.
Meanwhile, Y/N was lost in her own world, humming a Christmas tune as she delicately placed candy hearts on the walls of her gingerbread house. Gingerbread, mixed with cinnamon and the faint scent of Jooheon’s cologne, filled the room.
At the end of the three hours, two different gingerbread houses stood in the living room. Y/N’s structure was an intricately decorated mansion with neat frosting trims and candy cane pillars. Jooheon’s house, while a bit wobbly, carried the essence of traditional gingerbread houses with child-like charm, complete with Tic Tac stones and gummy bear residents.
As Jooheon looked over at Y/N’s masterpiece, his signature pout started forming on his lips as his eyes fully scanned Y/N’s gingerbread house. He let out an almost defeated sigh, shoulders sinking. His gaze drifted back to his own creation, the corners of his mouth down, turning in that distinct pout she found so endearing.
Y/N took in his downcast expression, suppressing the inclination to tease him. She walked over, giving him a gentle nudge. “Pouting again, love?” she teased softly, giving his sides a gentle poke.
“Not fair,” he grumbled, mouth still downturned. “Yours looks like something out of a magazine.” He gestured at her gingerbread mansion with a flour-coated hand.
“The beauty lies in the eyes of the beholder, Jooheon,” she reassured him, offering a soft smile. “Yours has charm and authenticity. Look at those gummy bear residents and tic tac stones. It’s filled with character.”
Her words brought a slight smile to his lips, easing the pout somewhat. “It isn’t quite a mansion, though, is it?” Y/N laughed, circling her arms around his waist from behind. “It’s not about the mansion, Jooheon. It’s about the heart you put into it. And from where I’m standing, your house has lots of heart.”
For a moment, they stood quietly, taking in the sight of their creations. Their friendly competition was more about this bond and creating a memory than winning or losing.
Jooheon turned in her arms, resting his hands on her shoulders. In his eyes, there was the hint of a promise of a counter-challenge, a glimmer of playful competitiveness. Yet, the pout was now replaced by a heartwarming smile. After all, creating something with Y/N was his idea of winning, whether or not his gingerbread house stood as tall.

Their s/o likes to play with their hair
Requests are open!
Notes: sorry this is so late anon! I took a little break from requests, but I’m so glad you enjoy my writing. I hardly ever get requests for the boys but I’m so happy when I do! 💕
Anon asks: Hi, I saw that you opened the requests for the boys from MX, I have a lot of ideas but I don't want to be a bother 😅, so I just picked the one I thought was the most adorable: Like how would they react when you pet and play with their hair? Do they get sleepy, feel calmer, or just get annoyed that you messed up their hairstyle? Lol Also, thank you so much for including Wonho in these, i miss them all together 🥹 sorry for the long text, i love your imagines💟
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
♡Shownu♡
While he doesn’t understand your adoration for his hair, it feels so nice when you pet through it he forms mind at all. He’s always giving you head pats in return <3 He’ll definitely fall asleep while you do it though, and oftentimes asks you to do it to help him fall asleep.
♡Minhyuk♡
He likes to wrap his arms around and lay against you as you okay with his hair. He finds it so endearing, he’ll let your hair back or draw little shapes and squiggles on your leg as you both talk for the evening.
♡Kihyun♡
He cherishes any and all affection you give him. It feels so nice to have you aimlessly playing with his hair. No matter how long you’ve been together his face always gets a little red when you do it, or just dote on him in general.
♡Hyungwon♡
He’s always ruffling your hair so you decided to do the same for him. He pretends it’s annoying and you’re messing up his hair, but you both know he loves it. He sighs in content and falls asleep fast cuddled in your lap after a long day.
♡Jooheon♡
He thinks it’s silly, but doesn’t mind. He really only wants you to do it when the two of you are in bed, talking about your days and drifting off to sleep. It’s not his favorite display of affection, but as long as you’re with him it doesn’t matter.
♡Changkyun♡
He doesn’t mind and finds it cute if you’re part. He’s known for picking at your hair and telling it around as well. It makes him feel loved and all soft, it puts his mind at ease.
♡Wonho♡
He loves any and all love you give him. He’ll lean into you, snuggling closer as you okay with his hair. It’s gentle quality time spent together. He’ll let you do whatever you want with his his hair. Gently twirl it, place tug it, twist it into little pigtails, or decorate it with your hair clips.

You will melt in his arms every time he hugs you. You will feel so safe and secure, and you will know that you are loved. Changkyun is a soft-hearted man, but he is only soft for you. If you are lucky enough to have Changkyun in your life, cherish him. He is a rare gem, and he will love you unconditionally.
Every time he sees you, he greets you with his lovely smile and says, "Miss me?" He knows that his smile makes you blush, and he loves to see your face turn red as a tomato. Changkyun's smile is one of the things that you love most about him. It's so genuine and heartwarming, and it always makes you feel happy. He is a truly kind and loving person, and you are so lucky to have him in your life.
This man is smart, you will wonder how he can be so smart. He reads you like he reads a book. He understands you and all your problems really well. You don't need to hide anything from him, he'll know right away when you're not in good condition. He can tell when you're feeling down, even if you try to hide it. He can see the changes in your body language, and he can hear the changes in your tone of voice. He knows you better than you know yourself, and he always knows how to make you feel better. He is always there for you, no matter what. He will listen to you when you need to talk, and he will offer you his advice. He will never judge you, and he will always be there to support you. You are so lucky to have him in your life. He is a true friend, a loving partner, and a wise advisor. You can always count on him, and he will always be there for you.

monsta x / fake dating
Tumblr media
warning: bullet points because it’s the only thing stopping me from writing 7 full-length fics. these are still long, though. lower-case intended.
requested by @sweeticeream.
Tumblr media
↣ shownu
frankly, you probably didn’t know hyunwoo well enough to ask him this, but he was the only guy friend you had (even if you only knew him for a little less than 4 months)
when you brought the idea of fake-dating up to him, he was very ?? about it
why don’t you just date someone (him) for real?
you regretted bringing this up as soon as you saw the confusion in his eyes
so you went into a whole frenzy, trying to justify your decision to fake-date, all so you wouldn’t come off as crazy as you felt
and after you started to explain it more, he got far too lost in the passion in your eyes, so he just said yes
sure, he’ll pretend to be your date to this family event in exchange for good food and great company
which meant home-made dishes and an endless stream of grandmothers, exclaiming “who’s this handsome young man?!” whenever he walked into the room with you
it was a nice ego boost and he got to hold your hand the whole night, which was nice, too (because you had soft skin, that’s all, no other reason whatsoever)
you weren’t worried about what would happen once the night ended because your family only got together once every decade
but by a stroke of disaster, four of your cousins (some of them twice removed; you’d never even seen them before tonight) announced they were getting married later this year
and, of course, they hoped you and hyunwoo would come to the wedding
the two of you smiled and nodded and acted in love
but as soon as the night ended, you told hyunwoo he didn’t have to come to any other event with you
there was only so much food you could bribe him with before you started to feel awful for dragging him here
but hyunwoo gave you a look and replied, completely seriously, “i don’t know what you’re talking about, i had a nice time tonight. your family’s great.”
that definitely made you feel less terrible when you asked him, “so you wouldn’t mind going to one of those weddings with me as my fake-boyfriend?”
you laughed as you said it, trying to make it seem more like a joke than a serious suggestion, so he wouldn’t feel bad about having to turn you down
but hyunwoo didn’t feel bad in the slightest when he said, “oh, no. i would mind.”
so, that was that, then
“oh, well, it’s okay. i told you, you don’t have to go with me—”
“i want to go with you as your actual boyfriend.”
yeah, fuck it. he may not have been able to look at you as he said it, but he didn’t really see a point to fake-date you when really dating you seemed like a much better alternative
↣ wonho
it was supposed to be mutually beneficial for you both
a classic let’s-pretend-to-date-to-make-our-exes-jealous plot
and then somewhere along the way, hoseok kind of forgot that this was supposed to be all pretend?
he’d keep on holding your hand even when it was just you two in the room
or he’d still kiss your cheek when he stood up from the couch to grab something, even though there was no one to prove a point to
and okay, at first, you didn’t realize there was anything wrong with that
but then you ran into your ex without hoseok around, and he asked, “so where’s your boyfriend?”
and you didn’t even care about the envy in his voice as you told him about how much hoseok had been working lately and how you hadn’t gotten to see him a lot
and there it was
the realization that you really cared more about spending time with hoseok than about making your ex jealous
god, it was so awkward bringing this up to hoseok, though
“so, hey, do you think it worked?” you asked him that same night once your conversation (sort of) turned to your exes
he wasn’t following, “what do you mean?”
cringing now, you tried to make this sound less childish, “well, you know. getting a reaction out of—”
“oh, that.”
silence
honestly, for a minute there, you worried hoseok was about to say that it had worked and that he was back together with his ex now
but then he just chuckled nervously and admitted, “honestly, i’ve kind of forgotten all about that.”
oh, well okay, but what does that mean????
your heart feels like it’s about to leap out of your chest as you wait for him to say something else
something that would, hopefully, make the state of your relationship a little more clear
but then hoseok just went, “so, how do you feel about ordering pizza tonight? my fridge is empty,” and that was it
so, yeah, idk, i guess you’re dating for real now? 🤷🏻‍♀️
↣ minhyuk
honestly, this was supposed to be just a joke
everyone always kept teasing you about how you spent so much time together, “it was time you started to date”
so minhyuk finally just shrugged, took your hand in his, and declared, “we already are”
it was mostly meant to make your friends uncomfortable
like, okay, they couldn’t stop teasing you about how close you were? then you’ll show them just how much closer you could be
but although your friends did squirm, and their teasing did turn into complaining within a few days of this
you felt like you were the one who felt the weirdest
because, fine, when it came down to it, maybe you did have a little crush on minhyuk
it was barely there, though!
you never even thought of it as a serious crush, you just found him attractive is all
but then he was suddenly glued to your side, always touching, always smiling and glancing over at you
and yeah, it’s definitely a crush now
and thing is, this doesn’t feel fake!
minhyuk went out of his way with the pda, all to make your friends cringe
but did he really have to call and text you every night before going to sleep just to say goodnight and wish you sweet dreams??
did he really have to remember every little thing that you’ve ever told him, even if you couldn’t remember saying it??
alright, to be fair, minhyuk realized he didn’t need to do those things, he was just taking full advantage of his position as your fake-boyfriend
and your friends’ teasing had not been baseless; clearly, there was something there between you and him
so, somewhere along the way, the fake dating seamlessly morphed into serious dating
your friends hadn’t even realized that “he’s my boyfriend” used to be a joke, but now you were no longer kidding
except, at times, when minhyuk was using his boyfriend status as an excuse to drag you to a yet another dreadfully boring event with him
he’d always use the boyfriend card
“how can you say no to me, Your Boyfriend™??”
and you’d always remind him, “well, technically, you never asked me out on a date, so i don’t know where you’re getting this from”
he’d give you a look and a sarcastic laugh
but he wasn’t too wounded by this because he was too busy wondering if you’d still say the same thing when he eventually used the “since i’m your boyfriend” technique to ask you to spend the rest of your life with him
↣ kihyun
okay, now, you weren’t supposed to start fake-dating
you just happened to be standing next to each other at a party when the guy who was relentlessly hitting on you the entire night, walked by and did a double-take
he stopped in front of you two, scratched his chin thoughtfully, and then said, very accusingly, “you should have told me you didn’t want to go on a date with me because you already had a boyfriend”
(really, you didn’t want to go on a date with him because he was a disgusting pig, but whatever gets him through the night)
and kihyun – who’s, really, more of a friend-of-a-friend than a boyfriend to you – was already opening his mouth to refute this
until you grabbed his hand and whispered a hushed, “why don’t we let him believe that?”
and you obviously didn’t mean that as a prank
kihyun could tell from the look in your eyes that you needed this guy to finally get lost, you weren’t just joking around
so he cleared his throat, got his hand out from your grip and placed it around your shoulders, bringing you closer
and then he stuck his chin out at the guy, “yeah, she has a boyfriend.”
partially cringing, you glared at the guy one more time – not that it did much; he was immune to all deadly looks – and he finally shrugged and walked away
you thanked kihyun, apologized, stammered awkwardly for another minute, and walked away, hoping to simmer in mortification somewhere else
preferably at a place where this cute boy, who just pretended to be your boyfriend, couldn’t see you
but, not even fifteen minutes later, your friends were collectively hitting you on your shoulders and back, all yelling over each other
you hunched over and took a few precautionary steps forwards to escape their assault, before giving them a bewildered look
“what the hell happened????”
finally, one of your friends gave you an explanation: “how dare you bring your boyfriend to the party and not introduce us?”
you were still staring at your friends with wide eyes, and you were genuinely starting to worry about the contents of their cocktails because they knew you didn’t have a boyfriend
“people just overheard you reject some asshole because you were here with your boyfriend,” another friend said. “they saw you hugging.”
oh. well
“he wasn’t—i was just—”
but you caught sight of the same asshole out of the corner of your eye, and, suddenly, you weren’t so sure if it was a good idea to admit to lying
“yeah,” you ended up saying, a defeated sigh following shortly after. “he’s my boyfriend. i’ll introduce you later.”
“why don’t you do it now?” a voice asked, nearly making you jump out of your skin
kihyun – the king of showing up at the right place, at the right time – was smiling as he stood next to you
your friends, of course, proceeded to pounce on you (that’s how they show love)
and it took you another half an hour to get kihyun alone to ask him why, in the name of god, would he carry on pretending to be your boyfriend?
and he’s been so composed the whole night, but suddenly he’s an awkward mess
“i don’t know,” he admitted, “maybe that’s the only way i knew how to ask you out on a real date.”
you both knew that there were many easier ways to do that, but you had to admit two things
one, you kind of have no choice but to say yes now, since everyone already thinks you’re dating
and two, the butterflies in your stomach have been rioting ever since kihyun introduced himself as your boyfriend that first time, so it would be good for your health to go on a real date with him. you know, to stop all the fluttering and the shaking of your heart
↣ hyungwon
hyungwon got you into the fake-dating mess by accident
he’d been trying to impress his new manager because he felt like he really deserved a promotion
but no matter what he did, the guy seemed to hate him
and then one time during lunch, hyungwon happened to start a conversation about music, and he discovered that the manager was into the same indie band as he was
he milked the hell out of this, mentioning every obscure song he could remember, and he could almost see the points he was gaining with the manager
he even ended up being called up to his office at the end of the day
“this will sound weird, but are you seeing anyone right now?” the manager asked
hyungwon genuinely thought he gave off the wrong impression and even glanced at the sexual harassment awareness posters on the wall of the office
but then the manager explained, “i have four tickets to the band’s concert this friday. we could go on a double-date.”
and, because this was his promotion on the line, hyungwon stammered, “uh… yes, i am seeing someone… a concert sounds great.”
cut to you getting a panicked phone call from hyungwon several hours later, demanding that you cancel your plans for friday night and pretend to be his girlfriend to impress his manager
eh, you like the band anyway, and hyungwon was a good friend, even if you never really saw him romantically, so why not
but, like in any classic rom-com, after spending the night exaggerating hyungwon’s positive qualities (in a subtle way, of course), you came to realize that, huh, maybe you did see him as a romantic interest? kind of? a little bit?
it was just nice how he kept holding you all throughout the concert, so he wouldn’t lose you in the crowd of people
and it was nice how he walked you home and checked on you even after his manager and his girlfriend had left the two of you alone
and it was also nice—alright, fine, you had a proper crush on hyungwon now
you assumed he’d done most of those things that night because he wanted to leave a positive impression on his manager
but then hyungwon got that promotion (the concert played a part in that for sure), and he invited you to celebrate at his house
and you showed up, thinking it was going to be a party for all of his friends, but it was just him, a bottle of wine, and two glasses
so you got worried that maybe you showed up too early, but hyungwon shook his head, “no, you’re right on time. wine?”
“uh… shouldn’t we wait for everyone else?”
“there’s no one else,” he said, his hands shaking as he unscrewed the cork. “it’s just you.”
oh, okay, then
now your heart was shaking and what-not, that’s great
“i wanted to thank you,” he said after he finally managed to pour wine into your glasses and onto the counter. “if it weren’t for you, i wouldn’t have gotten this promotion.”
“that’s not true, you’re a great employee and you deserve this.”
hyungwon appreciated you saying that, but he looked down and deflected, “you know, this promotion had been something that i was looking forward to for the past few months. until the night we went to that concert.”
you waited for him to continue, but his mouth was too dry, so he took a big gulp of his wine before he even finished the toast
(was this even a toast? oh god, he couldn’t understand what he was doing)
“t-that night,” he tried to continue, “i realized that i’m looking forward to seeing you again more than i’m looking forward to getting promoted. i was absolutely ready to go on a dozen more double-dates with you before i got that promotion.”
“i thought we’d have to do that, too, to be honest,” you interjected with a chuckle, alleviating the atmosphere slightly
“yeah?” hyungwon was glad to hear that. “i’m really, kind of, sad that we didn’t have to do that.”
quietly (because you didn’t dare to start drinking your wine yet, so you lacked the courage), you admitted, “me too.”
oh now he was positively vibrating and he had to set his glass of wine down as he braced himself
“why don’t we go on an actual date? no promotions to look forward to this time, just each other’s company.”
he looked like he was going to combust in three, two—
but you saved him by replying right away, “yeah. i’d like that.”
↣ jooheon
you and jooheon both wanted some peace and quiet when you went out with your friends, who all knew that the two of you were single, and kept setting you up with various people in the bar
so you suggested telling your friends that you both had already found relationships
“they’ll never believe it unless they see our partners,” jooheon pointed out
“okay,” you nodded, admitting the mistake. it only took you a second to come up with a better plan, though, “then how about we tell them we’re dating each other?”
he watched you for a minute, his eyebrows furrowed
“that is the dumbest thing i’ve ever heard,” he said then. “let’s do it.”
dumb or not, it worked
finally, you were able to relax, unwind, and get wasted on a friday night without being introduced to a new stranger every two drinks
it was a dream come true
and it worked like an excuse in other settings as well!
you don’t feel like attending another company dinner? “sorry, my boyfriend’s taking me out tonight, it’s our anniversary.”
jooheon hates his pretentious neighbour, so he needs an excuse to say no to his party? “sorry, got plans with my girlfriend this weekend.”
funnily enough, no one ever called either of you out on your bullshit
your co-workers had seen jooheon pick you up from work countless times
and all of jooheon’s neighbours knew you were the only person left who still had a spare key to his apartment (after a very unfortunate incident involving minhyuk, the notebook for jooheon’s lyrics, and a forgotten candle “for ambiance”, when jooheon was out of town)
nor you, nor jooheon had enough time for a serious relationship, and your fake-relationship never interfered with casual dating (since it all tended to end after one date)
so it was all fun and games
until your friends started asking, “so when are you going to propose?” and you realized this had been going on for a long time
jooheon, who was so used to his role as your fake-boyfriend, didn’t even skip a beat as he said, “when the time is right”
but the question rang in both of your heads for the rest of the night
when your taxi stopped outside of jooheon’s house at the end of the night, you got out with him because he was usually the type of drunk who could fall asleep in an elevator if left unsupervised
so, to save him the embarrassment – and also, to save you a trip back and forth between your houses – you tended to sleep in his guest room on friday nights
“you know what would be funny?” you asked him as the two of you took the elevator to his floor, “if we told our friends that we weren’t actually dating this whole time.”
jooheon chuckled, seemingly agreeing that this really would be funny
“you know what would be even funnier?” he responded, his speech still slurred from the alcohol. “if we actually started to date.”
you laughed, nodding, because that really would be even funnier
but then once jooheon was in bed and you prepared to head to the guest room, he suddenly grabbed your hand, stopping you
“so what time should i pick you up next week?” he asked
he never picked you up for anything, so you were understandably confused, “for what?”
“for our date,” he explained.
“oh, to pull the prank of the year?” you asked, chuckling. “first, we pretended to date, and then we actually started to date. but, actually, it’s all one big—”
“no,” jooheon disagreed, his eyes drooping, but his grip on your hand remaining firm. “this won’t be a prank. it’ll be a date. for real, this time.”
↣ i.m
he needed to get his family off his back (in the kindest way possible, of course)
there were only so many “it’s time for you to get married, why don’t i arrange a blind date for you?” a person could take
and you’d been his best friend for years, so hey, can you lend your friend a hand? you won’t even have to do anything
or so he said
you agreed because, according to changkyun, he’d just tell his family that you were his girlfriend, and you wouldn’t actually have to go to any dinners, or any parties whatsoever
how utterly and completely dumb this was!!!!!!
you run in the same circles, of course you were going to run into his family in town
their congratulatory hugs weren’t even the worst part (but it was still awkward, and you made a mental note to strangle kyun later)
the worst part was the “i knew you two kids would get together eventually!” comments
you felt like you were disappointing his family because you weren’t actually dating, and that felt a lot like disappointing your real family
it was crushing
you’d had such a good relationship with changkyun’s whole family, they were your second home
and now you were lying to them
so you didn’t think you were exaggerating when you sent changkyun a gentle “prepare to die” message once you managed to escape his relatives
he had a solution, though (at least, he thought he did)
“okay, so how’s this, then – we date for real?”
???????
he’d been your best friend for so long, you struggled to think of him as anything else
but it was also a defence mechanism in a way? you used to have the biggest crush on changkyun when you first became friends, so you needed to find a way to suppress these feelings
“changkyun,” you began seriously, “do you really think dating you would traumatize me less than my fear of disappointing your family?”
he watched you for a minute, the insult buffering, and then sent a pillow flying right at your head
“i’m saying i want you to go out with me, dumbass.”
you tried to duck, but still got swatted on the back of your head with the pillow as you asked, “why?”
he laughed humourlessly (and nervously) and then rolled his eyes, “gee, i don’t know, maybe because i don’t want you to feel bad about lying to my family, you sensitive wuss. or maybe because i genuinely have feelings for you, i don’t know.”
you were about to toss the pillow back at him, but then stopped
swallowing hard, you asked, “so which is it?”
“i can’t even breathe right now, which do you think it is?”
you were the one rolling your eyes this time, “can’t you just say it like a normal person, you asshole?”
“it’s already obvious, dimwit.”
“are you seriously only insulting me because you can’t tell me you like me? that’s lame, even for a nerd like you.”
he was groaning in exasperation at this point, “what else do you want me to do? you’re the most oblivious person i’ve ever met. and i don’t like you, you big idiot. i’m pretty sure i’m in love with you.”
