I love Josie but...

I say this as someone who loved/loves Josie but I still gotta call her out.

She and Stefan can be a lot alike and that's not a good thing because they tend to blame all of their short comings on their sibling.

I hate that Julie and her band of Yes Men basically did the same thing all over again in having Josie blame her sister for her own inaction.

I have some experience in the whole scrape goat thingy that both Stefan and Josie do to Damon and Lizzie.

There comes a time when you have to take responsibility for yourself and not blame your sister for everything that goes wrong in your life.

The kindness and conversation with which the soul in front of her gave. “God, it’s unfair how pretty you are,” the words had no parachutes as they fell out of her mouth. The wit of the joke had apparently loosened her tongue slighty. A pepper of a blush blooming against the delicate skin of her cheek. Had the barista heard? “Lovely that was my inside voice, but it’s true. You have been more than a miracle worker for premed student and not just with the coffee and bearclaws that keep me alive.”

Hope takes your hands in hers, and you let her turn them over, looking at non-existent scars from where you had beaten, scratched, and torn your skin trying to get out. It was a long few hours picking wood out before you could take a vial of blood to heal. Sometimes you wish you hadn’t.

Leaving the wounds to heal naturally, leaving the scars as proof that it had happened and you had gotten out. But a bigger part is glad they are gone. going back into the hosie rabbit hole and i’m like: why do i still actually miss this godawful show in the year of 2024? like. legacies was bad. truly. terrible storytelling.

but then it dawned on me: of course, legacies was a modern day fantasy story with half of the ensamble composed of queer characters, that also happened to have a female lead. i hear that right now with no more information and I’m sold. what show is doing that right now? the only ones that i can think of have been cancelled (like legacies, although that one was for the best).

my point is, though, of course i miss it. and it truly is sad that i can’t think of another show that sort of checks the boxes that legacies did (don’t get me wrong, i don’t want another legacies. the issue with that show is that the entirety of its intentions had always been TO check those boxes and not do anything with them whatsoever, but the dream of someone getting it right is still there)

shot out to critical role, of course, the best fantasy storytelling that i’ve ever seen (and the queerest, and most perfect). It obviously fits every single box and beyond, but it’s quite a different format, and definitely not for everyone (it’s my favorite… if anyone does see this silly post of mine, likes fantasy and queer storytelling go for it)
