Hard truth: I'm making things even harder for myself by playing comparison games. I've never had a fic blow up the way Younger Gods did, and now I'm constantly looking at other folks', other friends' numbers and judging myself for not pulling the same interactions.

It's not fair, or right, or healthy, so I'm stepping away from Tumblr for a while until I have things written and ready to post. I think it just needs to be me and the stories for a bit. It's not exactly a hiatus. I'll just be working behind the curtain for a week or two.

So this is what they call mid-life crisis?! I'm not sure if I am early or late to the game. Is there even a timeline of when this shit hits? Is it the time in life when you find yourself again after dedicating yourself to raising children and satisfying some imaginary adult checklist? Is it grief because your children are at an age where they are not out of the nest yet, but you know it's coming. I'm back! (sorta)

First of all, I am back online! I'm answering asks and messages, interacting with comments on fics, etc. I'm ready to be friendly and cheer on other creatives and be my awkward social self again!

I was gone way longer than planned, but it was necessary. And I have a plan for the next few months.

Earlier this year I talked about working on some original fiction. And I did. Barely. Because smacking the validation button every time I posted fic content had a much higher, immediate reward.

But I'm in my thirties. I want to write books. There's no reason not to. I just needed to handle myself a bit.

So there will be no fic until I get the first damned draft down. Needs to be at least 60k, ideally 80k. So I'll update you all with my word count, etc, so you know what progress I'm making. (We all want me to finish it, so cheering is appreciated. I'm an attention whore, but I'm an honest strumpet.)

I have multiple chapters for multiple fics about half finished, and I HOPE to start posting again in December.

Thank you all for your tremendous support, I look forward to providing more fic for you soon, and I will actually start creating the original projects I've denied myself even if it kills me.

Hate to overshare on main, but things keep getting worse, and this last week I relapsed into self harm. I'm okay, it wasn't anything I had to go to the hospital for, but it's a really bad sign, and I'm on my own personal struggle bus to hell.

I am fighting like fuck to not slip into the really deep dissociative state I've spent most of the past decade in, and forcing myself to write/interact with ya'll is one of the key tools I'm using to save myself.
