jupiter

jupiter in aries is more enthusiastic. the native seems to have limitless self-esteem, and life often looks and feels like a great adventure to them. they are energetic, enterprising and bursting with pride and excitement about themselves, and their place in the world. they see life as something to be explored and fought, and jupiter in aries is determined to win.

saturn

saturn in aries is more conflicted. this is not an easy placement to live with, as saturn is so uncomfortable here. its influence creates tension and conflict, making it easy for self-doubt and confusion to kick in. the native is often risk-averse and nervous, unsure of their abilities and easily demoralised by the rigours of life.

they are more restrained. saturn in aries lacks the big, bold impulses that jupiter thrives off; the native is cautious and quite restricted, especially early on in life, when it comes to being independent and taking steps forward. they often spend a long time floundering and unhappily working under others until they come into their power later on in life. even once they find it, they are always more reserved than you’d expect of an aries placement.

they are more of a lone wolf. the native, though not very self-actualised, is often happiest alone. they don’t tend to enjoy partnering up when it comes to business, preferring the perceived simplicity of self-employment and working independently. again, this trait mellows out with age, and often shows a slightly different take, in that saturn in aries makes for a great leader in later life; but they do retain that lone wolf outlook on the world.

both placements are self-directed. you see two sides of it with the two placements; with jupiter, we see an unstoppable force that blasts its way through life without a care in the world; with saturn, we see a lone ranger that cautiously stalks its way through the world, always covering its tracks and keeping an eye out for trouble. both placements thrive when they can work with themselves, rather than having the noise of other people and systems keeping them busy.

they both have great capacity for leadership and respect. especially with age and wisdom, when jupiter has calmed down and developed hindsight, and saturn has met their challenges and built up confidence, both placements make brilliant leaders. they don’t need other people to work with, but they can appreciate different perspectives and connections and the value they bring, both to professional and personal relationships.

both placements are strong. jupiter can sometimes look unbreakable, but they take a lot of hits throughout their journey, and they have to learn to roll with the punches and take a step back when needed, as well as to embrace vulnerability from time to time. saturn has to shed the weight they carry on their shoulders and build themselves up from scratch. nether of these are easy things to do, and it takes time to develop these skills. they are both strong placements with great potential for learning and adaptation.

they both value freedom and independence very highly. stifle jupiter and you’ll see them deflate, their ideas rotting away like apple cores. they need to be constantly moving and growing, and sometimes need to do it alone. the same applies to saturn, in that they are hard workers who need to be working and constructing themselves every day. if they’re left structureless they tend to crumble, but too much and they have no space to breathe or adapt. it’s vital that these placements have the freedom to carry on.

Biografía del Arquitecto:

Oscar Ribeiro Niemeyer Soares nació en el 15 de diciembre de 1907 en Rio de Janeiro, Brasil, en el barrio de Laranjeiras. Creció sin ninguna preocupación por su futuro, por tanto la educación la descuidó un poco, terminando la secundaria con 21 años de edad.

Posteriormente a ello, comenzó a estudiar en la escuela de Bellas Artes de Brasil mientras de donde se graduó como ingeniero arquitecto en el año 1934. Además, durante la época que estudiaba compaginó también un trabajo en el taller de topografía de su padre.

Comenzó su andada profesional trabajando gratis para dos grandes arquitectos de principio del siglo XX como eran Lucio Costa y Carlos Leao. Su primer proyecto fue La Obra de Breco en 1937.

En el año 1939 proycetó en colaboración con Lucio Costa, el pabellón de Brasil de la exposición universal de New York.

En el año 1945, ya como un arquitecto reconocido, influenciado por la revolución rusa de principios del siglo XX y a raíz de ello se convirtió en un joven idealista.

El proyecto más ambicioso de Oscar Niemeyer fue el diseño y construcción de la ciudad de Brasilia. Estableció muy buena amistad con el presidente J. Kubitschek, y a raíz de ello diseñó la ciudad de Brasilia junto a Lucio Costa a partir del año 1956. En este proyecto, se ejemplificó cómo la posibilidad de un futuro progresista para el país de Brasil.

Junto a un lago artificial gira la ciudad de Brasilia, y junto a ello se encuentran los 3 pilares que deben de tener un estado democrático, gobierno, parlamento y justicia. 

Debido a un golpe militar en el año 1964, se exilió a Europa donde trabajó en varios proyectos.

Una vez terminada la dictadura, volvió a Brasilia donde continuó con una intensa actividad y realizó numerosas actividades en su país, destacando el memorial de JK.

En el año 1988 creó su propia fundación y en ese mismo año recibió el premio Pritzker de Arquitectura, y un año después fue galardonado con el premio Príncipe de Asturias de las Artes.

En el año 2007, realizaron miles de homenajes para conmemorar el nacimiento del arquitecto. Posteriormente, tras tener varios proyectos en activo, falleció a la edad de 105 años en el 2012.

Descripción de la obra:

Niemeyer diseñó en 1953 en la carretera de Canoas, cerca del barrio de San Conrado, en Río de Janeiro una residencia para él y su familia, bautizada como “Casa das Canoas”.

Esta casa es la más exuberante de todas las proyectadas por el propio Niemeyer. La intención de Niemeyer era diseñar su residencia totalmente libre, es decir, adaptarla totalmente a las adversidades del terreno, así de esta manera consiguió que la vegetación se introdujera en la vivienda. La casa estaba totalmente influenciada por el estilo de Le Corbusier, pero sin embargo Niemeyer le dio su toque personal abandonando el estilo de Le Corbusier y mostrando su propio estilo.

Mantiene el estilo de realizar un pabellón acristalado diáfano, pero sin embargo abandona el sistema de los “cinco puntos” de Le Corbusier y comienza a levantar el edificio sobre pilotis. Además de dicho pabellón, cuenta con un semisótano.

Dicha residencia está formada por dos plantas, en la inferior, que es el semisótano, se encontraban los espacios privados, mientras que en la superior se encontraban los espacios comunes.

Un aspecto muy a destacar es la decoración interior y la geometría de las ventanas de los dormitorios del sótano. Dicha decoración fue diseñada por el mismo Niemeyer y por su hija mayor. Respecto a la geometría de las ventanas, tienen una forma característica con un perfil saliente y se asoman a la vegetación subtropical que se encuentra en la zona montañosa cerca de Rio de Janeiro.

Otro aspecto muy a destacar es la losa de techo de hormigón que se introduce en el paisaje no haciéndose notar. Además, esta losa es el forjado, y es un forjado bidireccional. Sustentada sobre pilotis y algún que otro muro de hormigón, fue una revolución para la época.

El propio Niemeyer cita de este proyecto:

«Mi preocupación fue proyectar esa residencia con entera libertad, adaptándola a los desniveles del terreno sin modificarlo, haciéndola en curvas, de forma que la vegetación pudiera penetrar en ellas, sin la separación ostensiva de la línea recta.

Y creé para las salas de estar una zona en sombra, para que la parte envidriada evitara cortinas y la casa quedara transparente, como prefería»

jupiter vs. saturn: pisces

jupiter

they are more emotionally intelligent. jupiter is very comfortable in pisces, and so we see an expansion of pisces' almost-uncanny ability to interpret emotions. the native makes their way through life by feeling; emotions to them are tangible things you can touch and hold, and they navigate life through the emotions of other people.

they are more giving. jupiter in pisces, feeling their way through life, is a soft, generous placement. they are generous with their resources, but most of all, with themselves; they give little pieces of themselves to everyone they love, which can eventually leave them feeling fragmented and empty if they don't take care to replenish themselves.

they are more artistic. jupiter brings some much-needed brightness to pisces, not so much enhancing their creative capacity as helping nudge them towards it, and offering energy and refinement to them, allowing them to work at their art with more discipline.

saturn

Biografía del Arquitecto:

Robert Venturi nació en Philadelphia en 1925. Fue un Arquitecto y profesor estadounidense, y uno de los arquitectos teóricos mas influyentes del siglo XX.

Estudió arquitectura en la Universidad de Princeton en New Jersey donde se licenció en 1947 y posteriormente a ello, pasó tres años como becario en la Academia Americana situada en Roma. Tras ello recibió un MFA de Princeton en el año 1950.

En el año 1958 trabajó en el estudio de los arquitectos Eero Saarinen y Louis Kahn

En el año 1964 fundó su propio estudio junto al arquitecto John Rauch. El fue uno de los impulsores del postmodernismo a principio de la década de los años 70.

Muchas de sus obras están hechas a partes iguales junto a Scott Brown. Además a dicha pareja se le atribuyó la frase “Less is Bore” como grito de guerra en contra de la arquitectura moderna.

Gracias a su carácter visinario, en el año 1991 recibió el Premio Pritzker gracias a su carácter innovador.

Descripción de la obra:

La casa Vanna Venturi es probablemente la primera obra importante que refleja la innovación de dicho arquitecto con la arquitectura postmoderna.

Situada en el barrio de Chestnut Hill, Philadelphia. Fue diseñada junto a su madre en un terreno situado junto al de su antiguo jefe y mentor Louis Kahn.

Esta obra materializa sus teorías de complejidad y contradicción usando recursos enteramente posmodernos.

La casa tiene una apariencia exterior muy sencilla y simétrica, pero sin embargo, sus espacios son muy complejos tanto en su forma como en sus relaciones.

El acceso a la casa es bastante difícil de identificar ya que en el porche por ell cual se accede no se identifica la puerta de entrada, ya que tras el porche existe una pared lisa, pero sin embargo el acceso al interior se encuentra por los laterales del porche.

Exteriormente podemos observar que las fachadas, tanta la delantera como la trasera, son mas pantallas que muros, aunque ambas tienen la misma función. Ambas acentúan la sensación de espacio cerrado, pero sin embargo transmiten un espacio de abertura. El muro lateral totalmente acristalado de la sala de estar está retrasado y configura un porche protegido por la fachada trasera; este recurso se repite, en versión más reducida, en los dormitorios del otro lado de la casa. La habitación del piso de arriba, iluminada por un luneto central, queda retrasada respecto al muro trasero y forma un balcón largo y estrecho. Una vez más, se pretende presentar el muro como una pantalla. "Estratificado" fue el término que empleó Venturi para describir este tratamiento de superficies y espacios, acuñando así uno de los clichés arquitectónicos del siglo.

Además, el propio Robert acentúa:

“La casa de mi madre fue diseñada cuando ella ya era una viuda anciana, con su dormitorio en la planta baja, sin garaje porque ella no conducía, y con habitaciones para una sirvienta y la posibilidad de tener una enfermera -además de ser también adecuada para sus bellos muebles con los que yo me había criado. Por lo demás, ella no realizó otras demandas al arquitecto, su hijo, relacionadas con el programa o su estética -ella era maravillosamente confiada”
