what i think of mu kusunoki

tldr: she's unforgivable in my eyes. hella fucking unforgivable.

but the long story is, i think i know what happened in mu's storyline, though bear in mind this is purely conjecture, so it might be wrong. credit for drama translation to onigiriico who is so fast in translating the drama holy heck.

i find it super interesting that the two mvs have wildly different vibe to it. after pain was more rooted in reality, the background was mostly at school, the people involved in the story are humanoid, everything is pristine, beautiful and tragic. while on the other hand, not my fault is bold, vibrant, surreal, so out of touch of reality it's actually crazy. there are two ways to read this:

that after pain was closer to what happened, that's why the memory is more clear, or

not my fault is closer to what happened, and the reason why it's surreal is that bc mu herself does not consider it the "reality".

i think it's closer to the second point than the first. Why? Because there are contradictions in after pain. first one is the message exchanged between mu and the supposed bullies.

i can't read a lotta kanji, but as i understand it, mu and the "bullies" had a group chat together where mu bought the "bullies" new make ups, and basically wanted to hang out more bc mu had money. and the last sticker that she sent has "ureshii" written on it, means that she's "happy." (feel free to correct me!)

the other contradiction is the reason why she killed her victim. because well, her bully is not her victim. literally, the only time we see the victim was when she walked away when mu is being bullied, so what was the motive? wouldn't it be more obvious if mu killed her bullies and not this one random girl who presumably killed bc she didn't care abt mu? what's up with that?

but then we get it's not my fault. (banger btw)

it starts off immediately with mu being the veritable queen bee of the hive, wanting everyone to please her. and if she's unhappy with you, you get "destroyed". the first line of the song is literally "yappa, hora, watashi no kachi" which means "i knew it, see, i'm the winner." and she continued with "it won't ever change." (which genuinely made me laugh now bc she got unforgivable-leaning vote rn lmfao)

what i would like to point out regarding the person who made her displeased is destroyed is this: once you get pushed away from her favor, it means that you are gone. sure, you still exist, but you are no longer useful to her. you broke into pieces. and i would like to point you guys to these:

so in this frame, we see that she has 8 followers, right? one of them get pushed away and she broke. but then we see this frame:

only three of them left. only three. at the very least, there are FIVE PEOPLE who are now broken because of mu.

we do actually see some uh... people that we know from the mv.

the victim one is pure conjecture, but I'm fairly sure about the three. because well, those three who have the most pictures? are the supposed bullies and the one who survived from getting stomped on mu.

we see the victim looking at the quartet with disgust in her eyes, and when the quartet saw her, she became her next target. which brings me to my next point.

from the way this is framed, her friend, which we will dub as acchan because that was her contact name, notified mu of something and everyone looked back. mu herself looked at the camera like whoever is meddling rn is being a big annoyance.

then immediately after that, the next picture is of the murder and mu mcfuckin' losing it. then the very last scene was the bodies of her "victim" powered up to allow her to escape from her little pod once again, reborn. i think the bugs were actually a metaphor for acceptance (but green, so probably a toxic kind? so perhaps kind of like kissing her ass?) and that after we say that she was forgiven of her sin, she became the queen bee that she was before, escaping the prison as her true self.

and then the real kicker of this whole mv?

THIS PART IN AFTER PAIN. TURNS OUT, SHE WASN'T THE ONE WHO WAS GRIEVING FOR THE GIRL. SHE WAS PROBABLY THE ONE WHO PUT THE FLOWER THERE AND SHE WAS ENJOYING THE SIGHT.

THIS? THIS WAS THE REAL SCENE.

the victim was being bullied by presumably mu and her clique and has to deal with all of her shit being destroyed and probably thrown a bucket of water as well. this is the true scene. none of that beautiful, clean bullshit that mu painted in after pain. no, this is (i believe the real thing)

which then brought me to my next point now, the voice drama. the voice drama confirmed these:

that mu still views herself as the victim

that mu did not think what she did was wrong, it was merely a revenge. if she killed her bullies, it should be okay. if she bullied people, it's because she was bullied before so now it's justified.

that she will be forgiven anyway.

that mu is REALLY good at gaslighting people. she even affected es.

that mu thinks that because her position is so enviable, that's probably the reason why she was being bullied,

that she's not above using threats of other's death for her survival,

that she is a massive bitch who actually doesn't know how friendship work

that the mv could be manipulated by the prisoners, they just have to have strong feeling about the event and it will be painted as such, though MILGRAM can go deeper than that

mkdr, the song chosen for mu, interestingly enough tells a story about a pair who is in a toxic relationship, one who is very dependent on the other, the other one kind of doesn't know the impact of their words. i think this in a way described mu and haruka's relationship.

so i think this is her story. i believe that first when she entered school, she wasn't exactly discriminated or being bullied, it's just that according to her, it must be bullying. for revenge, she decided to be the queen bee of the school. she has everything, looks, money, probably also connection, ofc ppl flocked to her. but she wasn't happy with some of them, so once she's done w/ them, she cuts them off and then bullied those people.

the victim was once upon a time also part of this friendship. she might even be the one who became mu's first friend. but then she saw all the atrocities that mu did, and became disgusted by her.

then i have two ways this could go:

first, the girl became the target of mu's cliques and was bullied by them. decided enough was enough (the final frame of it's not my fault), she decided to fight back and reported mu. mu, knowing that her time is running out, decided to chase after the girl and asked her to delete the evidence. the girl rejected that, ofc, and then mu in panic killed her.

or second, the girl still became the target of mu's cliques, but she was still trying to hold on and not do anything abt it. but when she saw that she wasn't the only target, she was angry at mu and immediately berated her. mu who thrived under attention ofc couldn't take this, esp from someone who she cared about. so she decided to ask for forgiveness, and ofc rejected. mu, in rage, killed the girl.

either way the story goes, the girl died and mu lose it. she lose everyone, her "friends" are now scared of her, she's now in milgram, her status is back to as someone who has nothing.

but then after pain happened. our acceptance of her fault happened. haruka happened. and she was reborn as the queen bee that she was, that she is, and she was so happy that milgram existed.

the worst part abt all of this is that someone like mu exist in this world. someone who, for her benefits, will steps on everyone and gaslight the absolute hell out of you if you don't fit her ideal. we as viewers had been absolutely lied to. after it's not my fault? i can't even see after pain in the same light. holy shit.

anyway that's my thought, i'm definitely voting unforgivable bc this shit won't fly with me. just. ew.

edit: this just make the whole thing worse but rochisama did a translation of things written on the board and the text, and it proved that:

the first scene of after pain (mu waking up) was her being bullied for killing the other girl

the text proves that her and her """bullies"""" was on good term (went out to get tapioca and borrowed lipstick and it was a spare apparently??)

the black board at the end wasn't meant for mu, it was meant for THE VICTIM.

Bsd spider-man au cus of course

Bungo Stray Spiders. Someone has to do it so that someone will be me. This half is just a list of powers and titles, if you want all the details and backstory you can read the other half below this one! Atsushi, Spider-Kachi: Spider sense, Strength, Speed, Agility, Walking on walls, Extra spider-like limbs sprout from his back, Spider-like fangs, Claws, and Self-regeneration. Dazai, Spider-Jisatsu: Intelligence, Some agility, some speed, and his own version of 'Spider sense'. He can stunt the spider abilities of others, other than that he's just kind of a regular guy with webs and a high tech suit. The suit allows him to walk on walls, enhances his physical mobility, detects danger, and acts as a layer of armor. Kunikida, Spider-Riso: Spider sense, Agility, Speed, Strength, Super Accuracy, Stamina, and Walking on walls. He often uses gadgets similar to guns to take advantage of his exceptional aim. Ranpo, Spider-Kojo: High Intelligence. His suit aids him similarly to Dazai, but the ocular part of the suit has technical modifications to further examine clues. Night vision and heat vision, for example. Kyoka, Spider-Kurai: Spider sense, Strength, Accuracy, Super Agility, Super Speed, Walking on walls, and a Spirtual connection with Spiders. Her suit gives her web shooters along with built in blades, taking advantage of her experience as an assassin. Yosano, Spider-Shi: Spider sense, Strength, Accuracy, Agility, Speed, Walking on walls, and a Healing ability. Her suit gives her webshooters, long blades along her arms, and butterfly-like extensions that act as medical tubes, connecting her blood with theirs to heal them. (She can heal through her breath, but any form of her dna works). Kenji, Spider-Arashi: Spider sense, Agility, Speed, Stamina, Super Strength, Walking on walls, and is Nearly indestructable. His suit has webshooters and magnets that give him a better grip on metal objects. Junichiro, Spider-Kyodai: Spider sense, Agility, Speed, Strength, Stamina, Walking on walls, and he Spews a gas that causes hallucinations. His suit has webshooters and a spider like pair of fangs that reach around his mouth where the gas comes out of. It helps to better manage the output of gas. Fukuzawa, (Retired) Spider-Samurai: Super Speed, Super Agility, Super Stamina, Super Strength, Super Accuracy, and Natural Webbing. His old suit merely acted as armor and a disguise. He of course also had a blade. Mori: Owner of PortCorp and leader of the Mafia. He has an endless amount of gadgets he uses if ever in combat. Chuuya, Fujin: Manipulation of matter, so basically the same except it's presented more like wind and weather. Akutagawa, Aku-Tako: Rashomon is essentially the same, just presented more like tentacles and sometimes spider limbs. Elise, Girl Goblin: She's a robot with a child-like appearance. Elise has a glider and various gadgets, mostly bombs. Now for the backstories! Instead of an ADA we have Agency Kumo (Kumo means Spider in Japanese) a spider themed collection of super beings working for the original Spider-man, who is now retired. They mostly fight to protect Yokohama due to its rise in crime the past few decades, but occasionally a threat comes along that forces them to fight for all of Japan and even the world. (Cough) the rat (cough).

Fukuzawa retired as Spider-Samurai (Spiderman) because he saw himself taking advantage of his power, even if it wasn't with ill intent. Soon after, though, a boy named Ranpo showed excellent intelligence into the minds of criminals that he in his prime could only dream of. Fukuzawa didn't want him to take the same path as he did, so he took Ranpo in. Little did Fukuzawa know that the local laboratory would soon lose several radioactive spiders, the same ones that bit him. Ranpo's hero title is Spider-Kojo. (Kojo meaning deduction in Japanese)

Fuku's childhood friend and old enemy, Mori, runs that laboratory and secretly experimented on Yosano, an orphan he took in. Yosano had a miraculous ability to heal people with her new powers, making it easy for Mori to experiment on people without permanently changing their lives. While they did agree to it, the non-stop torture of it drove them insane. The volunteers were under contract and unable to do anything until their time was over. Mori, determined to recreate Fukuzawa and Yosano's abilities, forced the girl to continue healing them which further prolonged their suffering.

Yosano ran away and eventually stumbled upon Fukuzawa who took her in as well. He trained her to have better control over her abilities and said she didn't have to use them ever again, if that's what she wanted. While she doesn't appear in public often, she'll become known as Spider-Shi. (Shi meaning death in Japanese and also a play on she since for a while Yosano was the only woman in the group.)

After getting bit and experiencing various unnatural sensations, Kunikida had to quit his job as a teacher and focused on finding any possible illnesses he could have with extensive research. He found his way to Fukuzawa who trained him as well. Kunikida decided to become the next Spider-man. Spider-Riso. (Riso meaning ideal in Japanese). He'd be the ideal Spiderman. This caused the creation of Agency Kumo.

Dazai was constantly experimented on, becoming nearly numb to the torment. He worked for a crime organization secretly led by Mori. The attempts to give Dazai any special abilities were all unsuccessful, except for one. Mori didn't know how, but Dazai gained the ability to stun other experiments' abilities. It was akin to something like stage fright but with their dna. One of the oldest experiments, Oda, was his best friend until he took revenge on a new nemesis. Dazai promised him he'd use his power for good, and joined Agency Kumo. Dazai becomes Spider-Jisatsu. (Jisatsu meaning suicide in Japanese)

Junichiro and Kenji were also spider bite victims who quickly became new recruits for the organization. Junichiro is able to spew a gas that causes hallucinations and Kenji has super strength more so than the others and is also nearly indestructable. Junichiro is Spider-Kyodai (Brother) and Kenji is Spider-Arashi (Storm).

Atsushi's abilities were so wild and chaotic that he'd been sleep walking and terrifying the locals of his village without a single clue. Dazai finds him, recruits him, and after lots of training, Atsushi gains decent control over his powers. Those being growing spider like fangs, extra spider limbs, and claws as sharp as his teeth. He is also able to regenerate himself, but if he doesn't do so within a few moments of the damage being done, it won't work. Atsushi is known as Spider-Kachi (worth/value in Japanese).

Kyoka starts out as another enemy in the Mafia, a reluctant servant to Koyou. While Kyoka is not a bite victim, her mother was and passed down her spider dna. Mori heard of it, and had her kidnapped from an orphanage. Her abilities consist of inhuman agility, rapid reflexes, and a spiritual connection to spiders. After Atsushi rescued her, Kyoka became part of Agency Kumo and picked the title Spider-Kurai. (Dark/gloomy in Japanese).

Chuuya wasn't a spider victim, but was caught up in a freak accident at a very young age. A mythical spider spirit saved him, giving him the ability to control matter just as he did, but it also had severe consequences. Chuuya couldn't remember anything from his past, and his abilities were far too much for his mortal body to contain. His villainous identity is "Fujin" a Japanese mythical god who controls the wind.

Akutagawa was very young when he was experimented on by Mori. He went through multiple years of torture to get his abilities just right and to reach his "full potential" as Mori and Dazai told him. He, similar to Chuuya, was also given power by a mythical being. The creature's name was Rashomon. It was trapped inside his body and retaliated against him for release. After those experiments, he was able to control it, but struggled to control himself. Almost as if the being had influence over him. To aid Akutagawa, Mori created a suit that both enhanced and contained his power. (If you haven't guessed it yet, he's this au's DocOc). Akutagawa became known as Aku-Tako (Tako means Octopus).

Mori is the Norman Ozborne and Elise is the Harry/Green Goblin of this au. Mori created a robot girl named Elisa as a daughter yet also a pawn. Mori gives her technology like the glider and bombs with a childish aesthetic to make her enemies hesitant to attack her. Little do they know she's not human and in fact an AI that if destroyed can be recovered as long as her chip is undamaged. Elise is known as Girl Goblin.

Katai makes all the suits for the members, but doesn't do anything else for Agency Kumo and isn't technically a member himself.

Naomi and the other clerics are the "Guys in the chair".

A post for the people more knowledgeable than me, who might be able to fill in some gaps.

Lately I've been watching the original Pokémon anime, in Japanese with fansubs.

Obviously there are some changes between the Japanese and English versions. I'm sure we've all heard about the jelly donuts.

One such change is the protagonist's name. Satoshi in the Japanese, became Ash Ketchum in English. The two are so linked that if I google "Pokémon Satoshi" I mainly get info about Ash, usually with a little "(Known as Satoshi in Japanese)". This makes it very hard to find information about Satoshi specifically, at least as an English speaker. But if I knew enough Japanese to look this up in Japanese, I probably wouldn't be writing this.

To be clear, most of what I'll be talking about here is in regards to the Japanese version of the anime, not the English dub.

The question that's currently on my mind is, does Satoshi have a surname? Many characters don't have stated surnames it seems. Even Satoshi's Mother is apparently just named "Satoshi's Mother."

Which isn't too unusual, I mean it's a cartoon. It's a world where your dog can shoot fireballs and a bird can fly you to work.

But the thing that made me think about this, was episode 18, the obligatory beach episode. The episode involves some kind of beach beauty/Pokémon cosplay contest. The rocket gang disrupt the contest with missiles, and Satoshi saves the day with the power of friendship and Pokémon. As nature intended.

When it's all dealt with, Satoshi and the gang say goodbye to Satoshi's mom and the professor, who also happened to be at the beach that day. Satoshi's mom is holding a trophy, the prize from the contest. It's never actually stated who won, and we never saw her entering the contest herself before Rocket Gang tried blowing it up.

But for some reason, there is a close-up of the plaque on the trophy.

Now, my interpretation of events, was that Satoshi was awarded the prize for saving the day, but his mom's holding onto it because it'd be a pain to carry that thing around while he continues his journey to be the very best like no one ever was. According to Bulbapedia, that also seems to be what happened in the English version, wherein the plaque was changed to reflect that fact.

So what does this have to do with what I asked earlier? What does this have to do with Satoshi's surname? Well, it's because of the kanji on the trophy. The top part is just, the name of the contest, but the big characters at the bottom, to me they look like 優勝. There is, of course, some guesswork there, the text in the screenshot isn't the clearest.

Now, according to jisho.org, a Japanese dictionary, 優勝 is a word that can mean overall victory. Which makes sense to have written on a trophy.

But the important thing to realise is that I am a dumbass, and I initially looked these characters up individually, losing the context of them being together.

So I looked up that first character, 優 on jisho. And apparently, it can be read as the male name Satoshi. Could just be a coincidence though.

I look up the second character, 勝, and one of the readings is the surname Kachi. Now, the only reason I was drawn to this reading in particular, is that it sounds like the English word "catch".

So taken together, that would be Satoshi Kachi. Look, I know. Japanese names don't work like that, they put their surname first, so this would mean it's written backwards on the trophy. And the chances of his name being a pun on an English word are probably not high. Though many Pokémon names do happen to be puns.

But I think it's a pretty interesting coincidence, even if I'm maybe reaching a bit to get this conclusion. And why was there a close-up of the plaque on the trophy at all? Surely the audience can surmise that it's a winner's trophy from the fact that it's a trophy. Maybe I'm just jumping at shadows, but I feel like the plaque has to mean something more than just pointing out that you're a winner.

Anyway, if you've read this far, you're a superhero. Now, if any of you are Pokémon experts or something, maybe with some knowledge of how things are on the Japanese side of it all, and happen to know anything about this, please, tell me. Not necessarily about the trophy thing, though it might be nice to know for sure if I'm totally off base on that.

Oc time!!! Keep in mind that this is from a work in progress fantasy story that I probably will not explain until someone asks. Knights are basically protectors of the lands I am making. Also some of the characters are not fully developed. List will be rbed every time there is new info.

Characters: Sahn, Poppy, Scarlet, Cygnus, Golok, Sahn’s mom, crazy doctor, Corgi, pirate milf, Zircon, and Spinel.

@abluehappyface @xx-kachi-xx since both of you wanted to hear. This is a long post.

Sahn

blind, bi, trans man. He/him. 15 years. 5’4”. The main character of my fantasy story. He often comes off as rude, and picks fight that he’s a obviously going to lose. If he doesn’t like someone based on their first encounter, then it will be very hard to change his opinion. Doesn’t have a motive to become a knight, only following Poppy because ‘why not?’. Him and Poppy come from an impoverished area. Sahn fucking HATES the crazy doctor

Sahn’s mom

Fully supported Sahn when he came out. She tried to give Sahn a haircut, but she’s not so good at that… Often talks about her late wife- it seems she can’t move on.

Poppy

Cis lesbian. 6’2”. She/her. 15. Sahn’s best friend. She’s bright, cheery, and has no volume awareness. Poppy is very used to physical affection and even initiates herself. Her motive for becoming a knight was to support her and her 8 brothers along with her mom and dad. Feels guilt for existing in the family, thinking she is a waste of money. Has a bunch of muscles. Friendly with people in the matter that ‘ooh they seem cool! I want to be friends with them!’

Cygnus

Nonbinary aromantic. Di/dir/dirt/dirtself along with she/her. 18. 7’5”A friendly person. A lot of people call her ‘the world’s friend’. Her twin died one time they were in a forest and Cygnus took the blame. Dir punishment was evaded by unknown reasons(shhh I’m figuring it out). Speaks softly. Friendly in the surface-level way. “I’m going to be nice with everyone so I look good because of the twin incident.’

Golok

Queer. Doesn’t use any pronouns. 7’1”. 16. A hostile person. Doesn’t warm up to people easily unless they keep persisting without any harm. Golok was forced to become a night by Golok’s parents, so Golok is super resentful of Golok’s parents. I named Golok after a blade!

Scarlet

OHHH BOY. THIS IS A LOT OF TRAUMA HAHAHAHA. It/its. Questioning. 5’5”. 14. Child of the first most powerful knight. Has constantly been neglected and experimented on(WE’RE NOT GOING INTO THAT YET). Whenever the experiments are done, Scarlet gets praised. Now, they have scars all around their body that they cover up. A lot of people would praise Scarlet, calling it a ‘good child’ and ‘you’re so good!’. Whenever Scarlet acted polite, it would get fawned over, so it would always act that way. Now it doesn’t know how to be a normal kid. Has huge imposter syndrome. It constantly burns itself out so it doesn’t get ‘exposed’. Envies Poppy for getting along with people so well, and genuinely hates her. Does not like Corgi because the doctor gives so much time to her and not their own child.

Crazy Doctor(not their real name)

First most powerful knight. 5’7”. Genderfluid pansexual. 39. I based them off of Dottore. Somehow friends with Corgi. Caused a whole-ass virus thing(figuring it out) through experimentation.

____ Corgi

Second most powerful knight. Transgender lesbian. She/her. 5’7”. 40. Doesn’t know what Scarlet went through. Shortned backstory is that she was a huge people pleaser and often burnt herself out. Dated a guy. Saw a girl and was like ‘I wanna date her’, but she was like ‘no no I can’t I’m dating him.’ So it happened. Corgi forced herself to like the guy she was dating. One day, when she and doctor were hanging out, she collapsed because she overworked her body too much. Woke up in doctor’s house and got a huge lecturing by them. Realized she doesn’t have to please people and stopped. It was a long process, but she did it. Her and her ex stay in good terms. Corgi managed to ask out the girl she liked, but she got rejected. Oh well. Now, Corgi genuinely does not care what people think of her anymore. Based her off of Rengoku. Will never abandon her comrades and protects them until the very end.

Tree bitch

Former first most powerful executioner. Everyone hated them LMAO. Was ‘paused’(I WILL GO INTO THIS ANOTHER TIME)-put in a comatose situation sort of- for having crimes against humanity. Only reason they weren’t killed is because the doctor wanted to experiment on them.

Ori

Currently trying to be a knight to remove his crush’s curse

Has a curse and life is at a super high risk for it.

Akoua

Demigirl. She/they. 45. 5’4”. Based her off of Rye cookie. They’re super tough on her subordinates and students. Currently has five under her wing. Known for being the best knight when it comes to the sea. One time, she defeated a huge amount(I’ll specify later) of sea monsters by herself(inspired off of Beidou).

Zircon

One of pirate milf’s students. Often talks about how ‘great she is’, but likes to toy with her a lot. The annoying one in the group.

Spinel

Geode/Geodeself TIBBIES. 5’8”. Genderqueer demiromantic. Based off of Arataki Itto. Very friendly and approaches people that are interesting.

Dragon and snake and the chaos

Classes went on without a hitch, Lila didn’t returned after the first humiliation. Alya who was still glaring at Marinette despite all that went down, but Marinette ignored her.

She realized a lot of things now. Like how if they were really her friends then they would never had just believed the liar and started bullying her. If they were really her friends they would have asked her permission and asked for help not demand her to be at their beck and call.

She needed to talk with Tikki. And about Adrien being chat noir. She needed to take away his miraculous. There is nothing more problematic than her black cat being corrupted because he wasn’t the true cat. She needed to find one. The faster the better.

Lunch time came rather faster and both girls walked out, not before stepping on the foot that sticks out to trip them or rather Marinette. The howl of pain made Kaylan smirk, and wink at the pink haired skater who glared at them.

Are you not worried that they may become an akuma?

Marinette became worried when she saw anger on Alix’s face. It was enough to attract akuma.

I would rather they become akuma when they are angry than to bottle up all the emotions before exploding and become the deadliest akuma.

Kaylan said pulling the girl out before heading towards the bakery. Stopping in front of stairs, she turned towards the designer.

My mom is a psychiatrist. Well……….more like a freelancer. Um….. She saw all the videos of the recent akuma. That’s the conclusion we came to.

Marinette nodded and both started towards the bakery.

The first akuma we faced was so full of negativity that even my mom felt it. As a psychiatrist she know when someone is bottling up negative emotions and she can definitely feel it. It’s like a second nature to her.

So she told you that the akuma would be weaker if a person was not bottling up the emotion?

Not exactly but, yes. The nurse that got akumatized……..she came at some point the very same day. My mom gave her a coping mechanism where she can let go of all her emotions and not get akumatized.

Wait that can happens?

Kaylan smirked. She looked smug. Was that a valid trick?

Marinette looked like she wanted to say something but they reached the bakery.

Mari-hime! It’s good to see you here.

Ma-ma-Marinette. Your song is rather clear.

Turning they looked at the pair. The girl was Asian descendent. She had short navy bob and sharp brown eyes, that soften up at the sight of the designer but when they turned to Kaylan they turned sharper. She was glaring at her.

The boy looked older than them. The dye in his hair was more prominent. He looked like a musician with his punk rock style. He looked rather calmer than both of them.

Kagami! Luka! You came!

Marinette quickly hugged them before gesturing toward Kaylan.

Meet Kaylan, she is new to our class and sits next to me. And she’s my friend. I wanted to introduce her to you guys.

Of course Mari-hime. I’m Kagami Tsurugi and I challenge you to a duel.

Kagami! No!

Kaylan Fox and I would be pleased to dual. Having a challenge always excite me no matter physical or mental.

Poor Marinette kept looking at the girls who shook each other’s hand with as much force they could exert. None of their expression flattered.

The musician looked rather amused at their antic, when they released each other, he introduced himself.

Luka Couffaine. Normally I would do the intimidation but if you can survive Kagami than I’m sure you can live mine.

There’s no way I’m hurting Marinette. I would rather hurt those who hurt her. Someone like a certain liar.

That caught their attention and they looked at her and then at Marinette. The designer sighed and nodded. The smiles that passed between three of them were all the same. Sadistic.

Marinette regretted introducing them. She heard Tikki sniggering quietly before leading them all up towards her room. She really prayed that Lila can live with these three teaming up. They are all vicious individually and together they will be unstoppable. Just thinking about the chaos they will cause in the future makes her head hurt.

Kagami and Luka were head of MPS (Marinette protection squad). With Kaylan, their strategist for petty revenge, they felt that they can now work far better. Their stories of Liar turned to her becoming akumatized and lead to the conversation earlier.

But seriously did that actually work?

Marinette asked. While it might be a healthy mechanism to let go of the emotion for a limited time before composing themselves but with an emotional terrorist on lose it would be too good to be true.

My mom and I do it every day.

She giggled picturing how ridiculous they must have looked.

It’s more like letting all your stress, anger and frustration out in one big scream and then drink some water to cool down. It’s likely to attract akuma but once you have cool down it won’t be attracted to you.

(yes. this works. letting out your frustration by screaming, loudly cursing and angrily punching the pillow, can help you cool down faster. I tried all of these. and I felt far lighter than before.)

They frowned, still not believing at her. She shook her head with a smile before taking out her phone and calling someone.

Hey mom, do you have something on the schedule for today?

The trio raised their eyebrows.

It wasn’t that hard. When I said I would come and prove my worth as her daughter’s friend and the mention of our competition, she was very much persuaded. By the way I got her number and she invited me for another match at your place. Hope you don’t mind.

Kagami shook her head. The small twitch of her lips didn’t go unnoticed. True Tomoe-san is rather strict with her daughter but when it comes to good influence and worthy friends she lets her daughter keep the company.

It’s good to have someone who can speak Japanese. They’re just learning.

Kagami gestured at the other two.

I speak a lot of languages. English isn’t my first one. We move a lot. So learning language is rather compulsory to make sure I don’t get ‘tricked’.

The day without Lila was rather peaceful. I mean if there is no liar to fan the flames then there is no new rumor and no one glaring at them or rather at Marinette. Well the morning humiliation was something.

Marinette sighed and relaxed when the last bell rang, with no Lila and fake friends around she had so much time.

Marinette! How could you?!

Aaaaaand there goes the peaceful day she hoped. She must be really tired or angry because she scowled openly at her former best friend.

What did I do this time Cesaire? Lila isn’t even in the class. What did I do to her this time?

She isn’t here in the class that’s why you sent her nasty texts! She sent me the screen shots of all nasty things you have said!

And yet she still doesn’t wants to file a cyber-bulling complaint.

Ah! Maybe that’s why she talked back. Kaylan stood right behind her, putting her chin on Marinette’s shoulder smiling coldly at the class in front of them. They looked rather intimate.

Tension rose to the roof and the temperature dropped several degrees making several of them shiver. Alya gritted her teeth shoving the fear at the back of her mind.

Well maybe because Lila is too nice for her own good and didn’t want Marinette to get in trouble.

And yet, you the ever so poetic justice, still want to trouble Marinette.

The bluenette giggled before covering it up with a cough. Kaylan had so many comebacks that she could never get tired of listening to them.

Many of their classmates shuffled nervously. Sure Lila had said a lot of times that she didn’t want Marinette too be trouble but Marinette needs to know what it was like to be bullied. Before any of them could say anything, Kaylan lightly pushed Marinette towards the door.

Before they can make their way out, Kaylan said.

Oh and Cesaire! Be a bigger person and a good example. I’m sure Marinette can be nice if you show her how to be a good example.

They left the school halls before any of them could comprehend.

The third of the Three Ouga Mountains—the final mountain, Kachi-kachi Mountain.

Hearing that name brings to mind the famous mountain from that folktale about the rabbit and the tanuki—it probably wasn't the official name, but rather a nickname.(1)

Long ago, it used to be a volcano. There didn't seem to be any risk of eruption now, but when I heard about that, as a former Fire Sister, it lit a spark inside me.

Sparked and flared up.

But although the spark was lit, and although just last night I had vowed to make it through this alone, on the morning of my third day, I suddenly ran into difficulties.

A bigger problem than the question of what kind of mountain Kachi-kachi Mountain was.

When I opened my rucksack to cook the day's portion of rice, the rice was all gone.

All that was left was an empty bag.

Huh? Did it get eaten by a bear while I was sleeping?

I was still haunted by that trauma from my first day... But if a bear had actually come up to me while I was sound asleep, I'm sure it would have eaten me instead of the rice.

There were wild animals besides bears I might have suspected, but I doubt a wild animal would have left behind a clean, empty bag after eating the rice. If the culprit were a wild animal, it stands to reason that it would have torn apart the bag with its fangs.

If so, then why?

Did I drop it somewhere?

Had I fastened the bag too loosely, and come all this way scattering the rice behind me like Hansel and Gretel? … Looking back, there didn't appear to be any traces of that.

Which would mean, most likely, that it had all spilled out when I nearly fell from the bare rocks during yesterday's rock climbing—that's all I can think of.

If that's the case, then I ought to say it's fortuitous that the rice was the only casualty.

Just the fact that I escaped with my life was unbelievably good fortune—but a chill runs down my spine to think that I might have lost all of my already insufficient equipment.

Well, losing my food supply at this point is a fairly serious issue, even on its own... I suppose the wildlife would have eaten the rice if I'd scattered it around.

This is a problem.

A huge problem.

This lifestyle of cooking the day's portion of rice in the morning, making it into onigiri, and eating it throughout the day had quickly come to an end; that is to say, I was at a loss for what to do from now on.

But my only option was to keep going forward—I couldn't use my food situation as a reason to turn back.

Why? Because turning back would require me to spend a whole day crossing the second mountain—the rocky mountain—Senshin Peak.

There would be no way for me to acquire food while rock climbing.

So my best bet was to press on, climbing Kachi-kachi Mountain while procuring food from the area.

Fortunately, though I had nearly no prior knowledge about it (even Master hadn't told me very much), as far as I could see, Kachi-kachi Mountain was similar to the first mountain.

Of course, I'd left behind the knife (Japanese sword) that I'd received, but even if I had it with me, fatigue had been steadily building up, so there was no way I could catch a wild animal.

But plants?

Plants can't run away.

They won't eat me (more importantly).

It even seemed strange that on Oniai Mountain I never entertained the thought of gathering mountain vegetables to use as side dishes.

...It's not strange at all, actually.

It's because I don't like vegetables.

All I eat is meat—I'm carnivorous woman, in the literal sense.(2)

For now, let's set aside the argument that eating plants amounts to murder since they're living things like us—I'm not in a place where I can give that argument much consideration.

I'll never say spoiled things like “I hate vegetables” again—please forgive me.

The possibility of an accident had become increasingly serious. For me to eat, that is, for me to survive, it seemed my only choice was to ascend the third mountain, Kachi-kachi Mountain.

And so, my third day begins.

Footnotes: (1) Referring to “Kachi-kachi Mountain” or “The Farmer and the Badger”, a story about a tanuki (Japanese raccoon dog; see Uchouten Kazoku for further research) and a rabbit. In the tale, a man catches a tanuki to cook later. The tanuki begs his wife to set it free, but when she does, it turns on her and kills her. It then cooks her into a stew, takes her appearance, and serves the stew to the man. After revealing the truth, it runs off. A local rabbit who had been friends with the couple tells the man he will avenge her death. It befriends the tanuki and begins torturing it, culminating in a trick where the rabbit sets fire to a load of kindling the tanuki was carrying on its back, telling the tanuki the crackling noises are from “Kachi-kachi Mountain”. (Kachi-kachi is onomatopoeia for the sound of a fire crackling.) Eventually the tanuki drowns in a boating race with the rabbit for which it built a boat out of mud. (2) In Japanese, “carnivore” (肉食系, nikushokukei) has a double meaning of a person who aggressively pursues others in terms of relationships and sex. (“Herbivore”/草食系, soushokukei, means the opposite.) Karen is saying she's literally a carnivore.
