Tumblr media
3ish Years Later
Quinn sat by himself on the edge of the dock watching the waves roll over the water. He found he needed more time to himself when family and friends arrived at the house. They were all here for the memorial they held every year for the past few years. And like always, Quinn was having a hard time processing the death of one of his oldest bestest friends and one of the greatest persons he knew. This is not how he imagined this situation turning out.
If he hadn’t gotten Y/N pregnant in the first place. She wouldn’t have gotten sick and he wouldn’t be missing his brother. Quinn never regretted his child, nor did he blame the baby. He just missed his brother.
~
Quinn raced Y/N to the hospital. The day finally came that someone died who just so happened to be a match to Y/N and now she could get the heart she so desperately needed in order to survive. His prayers had been answered.
“Hey, what are you guys doing here?” He noticed his parents waiting in the lobby of the hospital. Something was amiss. He hadn’t had the chance to inform anyone of the great news and yet they were here. “Mom. Dad. What’s going on?”
“I’m sorry sweetie.” His mother broke down in sobs. He had never heard his mother cry in his life.
“What happened? Where’s Luke and Jack?”
“Quinn, there was an accident. It was bad. Luke’s in surgery and Jack.”
“No. Fuck. No.”
“Jack’s dead.”
Every ounce of happiness left him when he realized exactly where Y/N’s new heart was coming from. Why did fate have to be so cruel that it needed to take the life of his little brother in order to save the life of the person he loved the most? It wasn’t fair.
~
“Hey. Whatcha thinking about?” Y/N brought him out of reliving that terrible day for the thousandth time. He must have been taking too long down by the water and she was sent to reel him back into the group.
“Nothing.” He placed his hand over his now wife’s protruding belly. Y/N knew he was lying. She figured he was thinking about that day again. The day Jack died so she could live.
“I miss him too. Even though I literally have a piece of him in my chest. I hate the fact that I can’t talk to him everyday. And I really don’t like how our babies will have to grow up without really getting to know their Uncle Jack.”
“You can talk to me if you want. I know he was your best friend, but he was like a brother to me.” She spoke out again when Quinn didn’t respond. She knew her husband was silently grieving. But she wanted to be there for him. “Please.”
Y/N pulled Quinn closer to her, guiding his head toward the scar on her chest so he could hear her heart beating, his brother’s heart beat. She found it was often something that calmed him when he was in a mood like this.
“Where’s Theo?” Quinn quietly piped up as he continued to stare out at the calm water listening to the thump thump of the heart.
“He’s back at the house. Trevor and Luke found an old pair of rollerblades and are trying to teach him. He’s a natural.” She tried bringing a little joy to his mood, but wasn’t getting through.
“I know what we should name this little bean.” Y/N thought out loud. She had known the gender of the baby for a little while now, but since Quinn didn’t want to know until the child was born, she elected to keep it quiet.
“That’s perfect.” Quinn grinned, it was probably one of the best ways to get back a part of what he lost that day.
~
“Mommy had my baby?” Theo skipped along holding Quinn’s hand. The new addition to their little family arrived the previous day. Everything went swimmingly this time. Y/N wasn’t sick, her heart was beating strong. Now it was time to introduce Theo to his new baby brother.
“Yeah. Remember what we talked about Theo. We need to be gentle and quiet. The baby is sleeping right now.” Quinn reminded the 5 year old fragile and couldn’t play hockey yet.
“Mommy!” Theo squealed, forgetting what Quinn told him, as he climbed to sit next to Y/N. She was just finishing feeding him. “Is that him?”
“Yeah. This is your baby brother Jack.” Quinn watched as Theo leaned over to place a kiss on top of the baby’s head. From that moment he knew his boys were going to be best friends, like he had been with his brothers.
Please let me know what y’all think. I’d love to hear your thoughts, comments, and complaints! I would really like to know if y’all like this one.

THOUGHTS ON NIE MINGJUE
HHHHHHHH OKAY NIE MINGJUE I HAVE MANY THOUGHTS ON NIE MINGJUE! most of them are just I LOVE HIM and he deserved BETTER and the rest of them is just kind of incoherent screaming in my brain BUT I shall try 2 make words out of them
OKAY SO tbh I don’t know when my brain decided to get on the love for da-ge train but it did and oh boy it’s not getting off any time soon. I think I watched fatal journey and vaguely considered nielan for A Bit Too Long one time and now I’m just kinda stuck here.
I honestly didn’t really give Nie Mingjue that much thought at all until I watched fatal journey and then the thoughts came through with reckless abandon. in fatal journey you certainly see NMJ in a very different light compared to what you see in CQL. you see his raw emotion and his thought process, his tactics as a leader and first and foremost you see how he functions as an elder brother. BUT this is bearing in mind all of this is while he is heavily under the influence of Jin Guangyao’s version of the song of clarity. you see much more of how much JGY’s remix is actually changing him and how different he has become in comparison to the Nie Mingjue you see in the earlier episodes of CQL. it is much clearer that it wasn’t just enhancing the resentment of the sword spirit within him. it was enhancing every little feeling and emotion tenfold.
you see this probably the most clearly with the different way he interacts with Nie Huaisang from the start of CQL to the start of fatal journey. when you’re first introduced to NMJ in CQL you see that he is annoyed and frustrated at NHS when he finally returns from galivanting around with WWX, yet it is no more than a sharp look and a sigh, mostly coming from the worry that NHS didn’t come straight home when he said he would. when Nie Huaisang’s actions frustrate him again at the start of fatal journey (when under the influence of the JGY remix) he lashes out at NHS so much that he nearly physically hurts him. of course, he never does because he cares for him so much and not matter how much the song of clarity enhances his rage and frustration, it also enhances how much he would never want to hurt his little brother and its why he never does, because he can’t. when he’s almost completely taken over by it and kills Zonghui and the rest of the disciples, he can’t hurt Huaisang. and even when he is dying he can still fight through it when he sees his little brother.
NMJ is fiercely protective of his loved ones and his little brother is clearly at the top of that list. I’m pretty sure that his overprotectiveness - particularly for Nie Huaisang - stemmed from his father’s death. when his father received a severe injury from taking NMJ on a night hunt and later died as a result, it left Nie Mingjue - only a teenager – with the responsibility to step up as sect leader, to raise his little brother and to carry the burden of the soul spirit and the curse of the Nie sect. all this as well is weighed down by the fact that NMJ would undoubtedly blame himself for his father’s death and the fact that he was unable to prevent it. this is what shapes him into a strong willed and determined sect leader, strict with rules and discipline. he uses the guilt he feels over his father’s death and channels in into running the Nie sect. determined to keep the Nie sect as strong as possible, he follows the same routes his father and ancestors did; running it in a military like style and continuing to allow sacrifices to be made to the sword spirit. Nie Mingjue knows what his sword spirit will eventually do to him, that he will not be around to pass it on to another generation and the fate will befall to his younger brother. so, when it comes to Nie Huaisang, all NMJ wants for him is to do well within the cultivation world, for him to be able to grow into a strong sect leader in the way he knows he himself will never live to become. he is strict with him because he wants his little brother to be able to be strong enough to never have to burden himself with the sword spirit. and it’s the knowledge that one day NHS may have to that ignites his frustration with him when Nie Huaisang shows so little interest in following in what he wants for him. because all he ever wants is for Nie Huaisang to be able to do better than he has done in his life. he wants to be able to always protect him and it kills him that he will one day be no longer able to do that. so, when Nie Mingjue is dying, when he is qi deviating, the need to protect his little brother is still there, in fact it so strong that it breaks through everything else. the need for NMJ to still be there to protect NHS is stronger than his rage and hate for JGY. in that moment, if JGY hadn’t intervened further NMJ could have most likely been pulled back from that edge. Jin Guangyao pulled every string in NMJ’s brain and increased every little thing he was feeling until he was nothing but a ball of rage and hurt and sadness and a tremendous amount of love and protection for his brother and the others he cared about. it’s why in the end, it didn’t work. JGY still had to have Xue yang cut NMJ’s head off to kill him. he never considered the other parts of Nie Mingjue he was changing when he put his little plan into action, the things that would still anchor him down and keep him human. and in the end, his cruel way of revenge and killing NMJ for his own gain ultimately backfired on him and led him to his own downfall.
what hurts so fucking much about what JGY did to NMJ is that it wouldn’t have worked it NMJ didn’t let it. obviously he had no idea what JGY was doing to him but he allowed him to be close enough for it to work. ultimately NMJ tried to work with JGY as best he could. he was devastated abt what meng yao did and that he had to banish him. he still worries about what became of him after he left and inquires after his wellbeing when he thinks he went to Jinlintai. his true distrust in JGY only starts – quite rightly so - after the events during the Sunshot campaign. and imagine how NMJ must have felt when he saw what JGY was capable of during Sunshot? NMJ saw meng yao, an outcast bullied by his peers and degraded for his parentage. so, he gave him a chance, stood up for him when everyone else was kicking him (literally) to the curb. all JGY wanted was the recognition of his father and NMJ figured he deserved the chance to get that. he built him up and gave him a strong position of power, even wrote to Jin Guangshan to persuade him to recognise his son. but then when JGY turns around and abuses that power he gives him and uses it to get away with literal murder and to crawl his way up the ranks, NMJ would’ve felt responsible for JGY actions because he was the one who enabled him to be in that position in the first place. NMJ had very strong, very rightful doubts about JGY after he killed his captain and his disciples during Sunshot, yet he cared about him in the past and he saw that some of JGY’s actions benefitted the good, and he saw how much trust LXC has in him and he allowed it to sway his gut feelings. you can see as they become sworn brothers that the distrust is still there quite strongly so I like to think that initially NMJ agreed to become sworn brothers with JGY as a way of “keeping the enemy close”. he would’ve wanted to keep a close eye on him, protect LXC if necessary, and partly because he still wanted to see if the good he once saw in him was still there. he wanted to believe that he was wrong and that JGY wasn’t lying. LXC suggested the sworn brotherhood as a way to build a bridge between NMJ and JGY, and honestly? it worked. but only on one half. and that half is Nie Mingjue, not Jin Guangyao.
in order for NMJ to let JGY play him the song of clarity in the first place, the trust he originally lost in him, he must have started to regain again over the years as his sworn brother. he would’ve seen JGY do good work and rise up the ranks, step ‘humbly’ into Jin Zixuan’s place and he would’ve seen how much trust LXC had in JGY. each little thing lessened that distrust to the extent he allowed JGY to know of how the sword spirit resentment affected him, and to trust him enough to let him try heal him. his distrust in JGY clearly never went away completely, but during those 16 years, NMJ trusted him enough to put his life in JGY’s hands and ultimately paid the price for it.
but this is where I think Jin Guangyao went wrong. he never saw past the rage and distrust NMJ had in him at the start and instead used it as another excuse for his actions. he never considered the fact in allowing JGY to get so close that he could try kill him in such a way, that that was the very reason not to. and even if he did realise that NMJ trusted him again, he was too far in his grab for power to stop. instead, Jin Guangyao took the small amount of distrust that NMJ still had in him, and then increased it and made him feel it ten times worse over and over and over, until NMJ finally snapped with him. JGY made NMJ resentment for him ten times worse for himself to finally give him more means to justify killing him than it simply being that NMJ stood in the way when it came to his grasp for power. but in the end, all JGY was doing was sowing the seeds of his own destruction.
putting aside all the depressing plot stuff for a minute bc if I think abt it any harder for any longer I think I’m gonna combust SO I’m gonna jump back to just how much I LOVE HIM and I just DO I don’t fucking know why, I suppose I have a lil bit of a thing for tragedy and oh boy is the life of Nie Mingjue a tragedy, and I guess I have a soft spot for the “guy with a tough exterior is in reality really soft and goofy around those he loves and cares abt” trope. I guess what I also love abt him is that not many people see it. yes, he has an incredibly tough exterior that many people find it difficult to see past, but NMJ is soft, he is kind and he cares so very deeply about the people he loves. you see him so different once you go back and watch CQL from the beginning knowing the plot and having seen NMJ screaming and sobbing in his brother’s arms, his death looming ever so close on the horizon. You can see past his exterior and realise that he isn’t just Nie Huaisang’s angry older brother. you see him kind and eager and teasing with Lan Xichen and what can be first seen as anger with NHS is really just worry. and… it just makes everything just so much more heart-breaking. Because you realise what’s going to happen to him, what he is going to go through and you realise just how much he never fucking deserved it.
and now I’m very sad and feel like I should go write smthn abt him retiring with LXC and taking up beekeeping or smthn idk I just want him to be HAPPY :(
i probs could write more but im not gonna bc yikes this got long and probably is just still a bunch of incoherent rambling if it feels like there’s stuff missing there probably is my brain has the thoughts lmao it just doesnt have the capacity to realise what they are and get them written down SO
tldr;
NIE MINGJUE IS SOFT AND KIND AND CARES ABT EVERYONE HE LOVES SO GODDAMN MUCH AND HE REALLY FUCKING DIDN’T DESERVE WHAT HE GOT

so much for soulmates // sodapop curtis
The Outsiders - Sodapop Curtis x Reader, Soulmate! AU The one where you finally see color...
Tumblr media
The world was beautiful in shades of grey.
It didn’t really bother you, not having color. You knew people who had lived their whole life without having met their soulmate. You had heard their stories. There was beauty in their - and your - charcoal existence.
The lines between things could be clear or barely even there. Flower petals were distinct, but the leaves in trees all blended into one. In the right light, faces had no eyes or mouths. People could fade into nothing, in the darkest shadows and the brightest lights.
There was comfort in black and white.
But there was brilliance in color, or so they said. You had listened to their stories, too.
The stark brightness of summer was supposed to be less harsh... more full. The winters were supposed to be softer, more alive. They said the spring and fall were the most beautiful thing people would see.
You had seen sixteen years worth of season pass, and your favorite would always be the intense contrasts of summer.
There were books written about the experience of first seeing color. There were entire shows that had first person representations of it; the black and white melting away to show the vivid hues that had existed all along. The Great Thaw, some called it. You had scoffed at them.
People seemed to love color more than their supposed star crossed lover.
There were people who had known color all their lives, having locked eyes with their soulmate so early on, it was a marvel to them that you had never seen the soft blues of the ocean and the rich greens of fields of grass.
There were others who would never no color and spent their lives listening to the vague descriptions of what they were like. You would roll you eyes when you would hear your friends talking about them like they were somehow substitutes for the real thing. It’s not that you thought they didn’t deserve color, but that those without it didn’t need to act like it was the only true goal in life.
What did having a soulmate matter, anyway?
Having one was no guarantee of living happily ever after. You had seen to many families - soulmates and all - ripped apart because they had gotten together over the stupid idea that color would keep their relationship alive.
You had seen those who could see color suddenly lose it as their soulmate passed on from this realm of existence. Could anyone say in earnest that they were better off for having met their soulmate? To have had something you believed was made for you, only for it to be taken away?
When you met with them, they would say that they had forgotten how safe darkness used to feel, before they could distinguish the different colors that the night was made of.
So, no; you weren’t in a rush to meet your soulmate. Part of you thought that if you lived your whole life without them, that would be fine.
You would still have everything you needed.
“It would be like living without feeling, (Y/n).” Johnny Cade looked at you with a frown, his hair flopping over his eyes. He looked comically sad, especially for someone who had never seen color in his life but was mourning it already.
“Well, I’m feeling pretty annoyed right now,” you teased, pushing him lightly and the two of you continued your walk to the movie theatre.
It was a summer afternoon, and with your parent gone for the weekend, you decided to catch up with one of your friends. It would be too long until school started again and you would see him roaming the halls. Besides, Johnny could do with some saving. You knew what his family was like, and it was no way to spend your life.
“Hey, let’s stop at the gas station... get some Colas or something. Besides, you haven’t met Soda yet and that’s a shame.” Johnny turned the corner and you followed after him with a sigh.
“D’you think I’ll see Sodapop Curtis and Sandy making out on the counter and suddenly want to find my soulmate?”
Johnny rolled his eyes. “No one can change your mind, not even Soda. Besides...”
His voice trailed off.
You raised an eyebrow and turned to the boy beside you.
“...They broke up.”
You scoffed. “So much for soulmates.”
“They, uh... weren’t, actually,” he mumbled, but you could hear him clear as day. “Soda told us. He said he wanted her so bad, it didn’t matter if it wasn’t fate.”
You whistled lowly. They hadn’t been the first to fake it, but it didn’t make it any less awkward.
When you and Johnny got the DX, a loud voice greeted you. Johnny was faster than you and gave the man behind the counter a hug before introducing you.
“Soda, this is (Y/n).”
You pulled your hand out of your pocket for your new acquaintance to shake, but your hands stopped halfway as your eyes met his.
Your breath caught in your throat as you watched shades of black and white  fade to expose something more rich underneath.
His eyes were brown. Like the steady ground on which you stood. It looked like what steadiness felt like, strong and supportive but brighter that the hottest summer days.
Your eyes combed his face. How the heat in his cheeks wasn’t grey but something else, something warm... pink, maybe? You had read somewhere that blushing was pink.
You looked everywhere you could that was right in front of you, and then Soda put a hand on your shoulder and turned you around.
The DX exploded with colors you hadn’t known existed. There were deep tones and dazzling hues; blue, green, yellow, red, and so many more colors you had no names for. Had the world always been this colorful? Or was it something else that made you breathless?
You turned back to Sodapop Curtis, and realized that he was the first person you met without having known what he looked like in black and white. What is the color that made him look like a movie star? He was grinning at you, and you couldn’t help but smile back.
“You two okay, there?” Johnny looked at the two of you, and you realized just how dark his eyes really were.
He looked older, with color to him. It amazed you how the dark circles under his eyes seemed to slowly melt into his skin. Cruel realities were softer when surrounded by the brilliance around you.
“It’s...” you were at a loss for words. It was both wonderful and harsh all at once. Things that are monotone are easier to process.
“...A lot.” Sodapop’s voice finished your sentence, and while it didn’t have all the flair that you were used to hearing when it came to color, it was exactly how you felt.
“What is?”
“Color,” you breathed, and Johnny’s eyes grew twice their size.
He laughed. “So? What is it like?”
You let out a breath, your mind still reeling. “I think I’m gonna have a headache.”
“That sounds about right.” You turned to Sodapop and his smile was still in full bloom. Your eyes lingered on him for a few more moments before the awkward tension started to settle in.
“I guess I should probably get to know you now, huh?”
You and Soda let out exasperated chuckles, and Johnny disappeared into the many aisles behind you.
“We can be friends for now,” Soda’s voice was light, with a hint of teasing. It was a pleasant sound that filled you. You closed your eyes to listen to it and noticed that even with your eyes shut, color still played against their lids.
“Yeah, I don’t want to rush anything,” you replied, leaning against the counter just a bit. “I’d really hate for you to not like me... soulmate.”
A/N:
it’s kinda trash, oops.

Ikemen Sengoku Part 10 - Akechi Mitsuhide Route
Tumblr media
I love how motivated the heroine was until Hideyoshi appeared and criticised everything about her appearance that made her feel motivated lmao. Aww it's so cute how Hideyoshi saw her in a new light after she saved Ranmaru. I love how Ranmaru said he'll make sure to remember the heroine to thank her, and Mitsuhide had to say that it'll only be useful if he'll still be alive after seeing Nobunaga (since Ranmaru abandoned Nobunaga and fled the fire at Honno-ji) lmaooo. Mitsuhide is so right though hahahaha. It's been a while since I last played Ikemen Sengoku so I kinda forgot how snarky the dialogue can be. Like lmao at Sasuke introducing Yukimura to the heroine as the guy who doesn't know how to speak to women (since he called her a boar woman LOL), and he introduced Yoshimoto as the guy who can hahahah, it's so true though lmao.
Loll at the heroine thinking being at the base camp will be the best when in fact, that's where Mitsuhide is haha. I love how Mitsuhide told her to act like a mouse and just hide behind him when the enemies attacked them, I mean, it is the only thing she can do, and as long as she focuses on protecting herself, she won't drag them down lol. I've never really thought about what weapon Mitsuhide might use, but I really didn't expect it to be a gun! It actually suits him so well though haha. I do feel sorry for the heroine though, seeing someone die right before your eyes is really scary, not to mention the fact that if Mitsuhide didn't shoot the guy, their lives would have been in danger instead. The fear of imminent death and the fear of seeing death, they're both things not many people can calmly handle, so I'm not surprised the heroine fainted. We should be glad that the battle practically ended there though, because if she fainted whilst the battle was going on, that could be a nightmare lol. When Mitsuhide told her not to thank him because she should never thank someone for taking another person's life, it really hit me because he's right. Obviously there's not much of a choice in war, but I think for Mitsuhide, he finds it important that we should never numb ourselves into thinking that these people don't have lives, that these people are nothing but enemies, because in reality, they're just the same as everyone else, just on a different side. Aww Mitsuhide is gonna be her teacher! Lmaoo at him being impressed that she got nothing right on the tests he gave her hahahaha.
I miss the banter between Ieyasu and Mitsunari, it's hilarious how much of a natural enemy Mitsunari is to Ieyasu hahaha. On the other hand, it's so sweet that everyone came to give the heroine snacks and ended up having a tea party lmaoo. It's kinda saddening to think that Mitsuhide is kinda right in that, the moment you feel good about aiming and being able to properly shoot a living thing, you've died in the sense that you've lost the emotions you lend to other beings. Man, if I was the heroine, I would run away from Mitsuhide's training too, not that it would help since he'll catch you loll, but it's so frightening!! It's nice that he finally properly taught her how to handle the horse (before she died lol). Loll at Mitsuhide the creep just staring at her eat hahaha, it was sweet of him to actually buy her some sweets and tea as a reward for getting through the lessons though! It's hard to hear about Mitsuhide being someone who would torture people and suggest battle plans where he can eradicate Nobunaga's enemies swiftly by sacrificing other "innocents" alongside them, but I'm glad the heroine chose to talk to Masamune about this, because I think he's right, instead of listening to others, she should weigh who Mitsuhide is to her from what she sees of him rather than building her impression on what she hears about him. Mitsuhide may be cruel for his job, but I'm sure his cruelty is what allowed for him and Nobunaga to survive to this day. Whether it will continue to stay that way is something to see later on, but for now, these are their methods and it works. HAHAHA, I love how the heroine went to Mitsuhide's place to cheer him up (because of the rumours that he colluded with Kennyo in trying to kill Nobunaga at Honno-ji), I think it's lovely how most people would avoid him or think that he can handle it because of the person that he is, but the heroine treats him like any other person and goes to comfort him, she's so cute! I found it endearing how he comforted her back (by hugging her!🥰) when he took his teasing too far.
I find it hilarious that Mitsuhide has a pet fox hahahahha, he got himself as a pet. Imagining Mitsuhide poking her cheek is so funny yet adorable hahaha. I guess even Mitsuhide gets flustered and troubled over handling the heroine when she's sad about his "betrayal" and adamant about outing him to others. I guess it's rather fascinating to see his distress through him being not up to par (as usual) when it comes to his blackmailing and threatening stuff lol. Trust Mitsuhide to be the guy to believe her time travel story, but omggg I love that she gets to have Mitsuhide as her lap pillow to sleep on hahaha. It's usually the other way around so it's nice we get this🤣 Lmao at Mitsuhide literally following her around 24/7 to keep an eye on her so she doesn't leak his secret (of communicating with an enemy). LMAO when the heroine was thinking "hi dad, hi mum, this is my new boyfriend" when Mitsuhide forcefully dragged her to the private meeting with Nobunaga and Hideoyshi to discuss their relationship lolll. It's hilarious how flamboyantly Mitsuhide tries to show off their "relationship". His sweet words are honestly full of teasing yet also smothered with interest in her lol. Hahaha, nice to know that their "lie" is just being spun into more and more craziness, I find it cute that they're pretending to be a married couple for a spy mission lol. The heroine got more emotional than I thought towards Mitsuhide, but I guess it's kinda understandable when she's obviously really seriously thinking about how much she likes him compared to how much she "hates" him, and it really doesn't help how playfully loving he is as her "husband". I guess I'm more surprised about her being so mad that she cried when Yoshiaki and those other daimyo etc treated her like a bug rather than a human being. Honestly, I'm just glad she's okay because they really could have done anything to her. It was nice to see Mitsuhide panicking and looking for her though. And yes, Mitsuhide! No one besides you is allowed to make the heroine cry, so make them pay! Loll.
It was really kind of Yoshimoto to approach the heroine and ask whether she's okay after he heard of the fiasco last night from some people. It's kinda saddening to see Yoshimoto so resigned to his fate. He can't go against his last few vassals and people in the Imagawa clan because they've lost everything, so it's natural for them to want to get everything back in whatever way possible even though they all know the clan is pretty much done for, but I guess they'd rather go out with a bang than just rot as a clan defeated by Nobunaga and couldn't stand back up. No sympathy for Yoshiaki though, he's a shit. I find it really adorable that the heroine's honesty and sincerity is really tearing off Mitsuhide's mask, it was so cute when he blushed because she said she really cared about him and that's why she cares about the things that are happening in this era. The play was such a smack in the face for Yoshiaki lol, but I don't care about him so whatever. On the other hand, I loved how Mitsuhide kissed her on the way home to Azuchi! It was so sweet how they could genuinely share their feelings under the pretence of the fake husband and wife relationship, I loved it. Guess it's kinda saddening that everything magical about the trip got shattered the moment they came back, since Mitsuhide is getting arrested for conspiring against Nobunaga. So terrible to see people taking revenge on Mitsuhide now that he's in jail, ripping his nails off is so cruel and disgusting. But it's probably true that they're not as cruel as him lol. It was really cute to see the heroine and Hideyoshi care so much for him though.
It's really sweet to see that the blue bellflower hairpin Mitsuhide gave the heroine before he escaped was that meaningful to his clan! It's basically their family crest after it allowed them to win an impossible battle, so it's kinda a blessing for victory. I think what was most touching was that he already bought this and planned to give it to her before they even went on that spy mission trip. He's been smitten with her for a whilee! I was happy to see the heroine's whole thought process about whether she was betrayed by Mitsuhide, whether he was lying to her etc, but then calmed herself down and remembered that she shouldn't focus on what seems right or wrong, but instead focus on making her own judgement of Mitsuhide's character, and as she said before she left, she believes in him and will continue to, but she will also go along with Nobunaga and them to ascertain his intentions kinda thing. I liked that.
It was expected that Mitsuhide wasn't loyal to Yoshiaki at all and did it to help Nobunaga get rid of Yoshiaki without garnering the dismay of the imperial court etc since Yoshiaki is a shogun. But dang, I loved how Nobunaga told the heroine to go along with Mitsuhide to deal with the escaping Yoshiaki, mainly because he knows how reckless Mitsuhide can be if he's by himself, but if the heroine is there, he'll make sure to stay safe and come back. I'm so glad the heroine got between Yoshimoto and Mitsuhide and didn't allow Yoshimoto to give himself to death just to relieve his vassals of the idea that they can live without finding glory in battling to death. Although I understand Yoshimoto's will, it's hard to not agree with the heroine. Yoshimoto only has one life and he should live it for himself instead of being burdened by all this responsibility that the vassals refuse to let go of. It's about time they all accepted reality and lived on for themselves rather than for the past Imagawa clan. Hideyoshi tying a rope around his and Mitsuhide's hands to make sure Mitsuhide can't escape again is so cute. I can understand though, Mitsuhide is always so reckless, always trying to do everything by himself, always trying to sully himself so that others like Hideyoshi can live in the light, but it must frustrate Hideyoshi so much that it has to be like this. Yay! They're going on another trip together! Well, it's not for fun since they're chasing after Yoshiaki, but that was expected since he escaped, so, still yay~
Okay, initially, it was all right to show how much Mitsuhide cares about the heroine by making it difficult for him to concentrate and make proper decisions when she comes into picture, but honestly, it's getting a bit crazy how much they need to shove this in our faces, like, isn't there any other way to show Mitsuhide cares for the heroine aside from this?! Honestly, I was about to say the dramatic route and the romantic route are about the same, but I think I'm liking the dramatic route more because we get to see Yoshimoto again, and we get to see his vassals apologise for being so disrespectful to him and better understand how kind and understanding of a lord he was to them. Otherwise, I feel like Mitsuhide's jealousy and protectiveness over the heroine is honestly a bit too much lol. But, I did really enjoy how the heroine chose to stay here with Mitsuhide (even if she were to die from poison) instead of going back to her era, I think her persistence in staying beside Mitsuhide no matter what kinda touched me. But, I do have to say, I feel like the heroine is...really childish in this route or something. I'm not sure if it's her or the translation script, but a lot of the things she says and the way she says it just sounds so... juvenile? I don't know, it was okay in the beginning but once they got together, the way she acts just felt more weird from usual and I couldn't really enjoy their "romantic scenes" because it felt like Mitsuhide was with someone quite immature and he kinda dumbs himself down to be with her LOL. Now I sound so mean hahahah. But really, I still don't think they match imo (even though the first half of the route was cute). Mitsuhide is a great guy, but not for this heroine. I also feel like the route tries to shine Mitsuhide in a great light too much, making him more like a kind misunderstood "evil guy", so it really makes the "darker" part of him kinda nonexistent now and it makes me kinda sad because I honestly thought this route would be more heavy and interesting in that aspect I guess.
Anyway, overall, it might be a silly complaint but Mitsuhide's just so...sweet to her that it actually makes me feel sad LOL. Not only is he too sweet, but he obviously liked the heroine so quickly in the beginning that most of the time he was already nice to her lol. I kinda thought it would be more of a break the ice kinda thing with Mitsuhide considering how cautious he usually is but yeah...lol, he practically opened himself up so much it was obvious he loved her the entire time. I'm not saying it's a bad route though, it was still nice! Just not my type tbh. I think it was all right in the beginning, but after they got together, it became really obvious how different the power balance(?) was between them, with Mitsuhide constantly trying to hide her from everything to protect her, and the heroine being the little lamb that just kinda listens to him because she thinks it's cute how jealous and overprotective he is, but to me, it felt so...boring? I knew that it would be difficult for the heroine to stand on the same level as Mitsuhide but I kinda thought she would support him in a different way (other than love), so it kinda disappointed me that in the end, what the heroine provides to him is really just the romance to melt his heart and the will to come back to his friends without sacrificing himself, since he needs to live for her kinda thing. Otherwise, I did enjoy how a lot of the time the heroine was trying to figure out what kind of person he was to her, and what kind of person he was to the people around him (since she wasn’t able to gauge whether he was “good”), so it was nice to see her treat him as any other normal person and talk to him to understand him, rather than make assumptions about him.

Smooth [Shance ficlet]
A late entry for day four of @shancefluffweek: First/Last
Modern AU. Lance’s first meeting with Shiro doesn’t go as planned -- it turns out so much better than he expected.
“Wait! Wait, I’ve got another one. ‘Hey baby, are you an astronaut? Because that bod is out of this world’.”
Lance flashed his friends a smug grin, waiting for them to declare him the utter genius that he was.
“That was the worst one yet,” said Pidge, not even looking up from her phone.
“Hmm,” Hunk said, thoughtfully tapping at his chin. “I dunno, man. There are plenty of astronauts on Earth. You can’t just assume people will know you’re talking about the ones up in space. I mean, wouldn’t ‘hey baby, are you an alien’ make more sense? Though actually...there might be aliens on Earth too, so...”
Lance groaned and rolled his eyes as Hunk continued to ramble to himself. His brilliant wit and irresistible charm were entirely wasted on his friends.
“Geez Hunk, maybe I should just be like, ‘Hi, I’m Lance. Are you single and interested in men? Because if so, I’d like to take you on a date some time’.”
“I’m game,” came an unfamiliar male voice from behind him.
Lance whipped around, prepared to tell whoever was mocking him to fuck right off, but he immediately abandoned that idea when he saw who’d spoken.
It was him. Takashi Shirogane -- or Shiro, as he liked to be called -- Keith’s stupidly hot best friend that Lance had been Facebook-stalking for like two years. Lance had never had a chance to actually meet him in person due to the fact he’d been deployed overseas for a while. He’d bugged Keith about introducing them once Shiro returned, but figured he’d have at least a couple more years to buff up and get cool before their destined first meeting.
But fate was a cruel mistress, apparently. Here he was face-to-face with Shiro way ahead of schedule, still scrawny, still lame, and wearing a t-shirt with a cat sitting on a slice of pizza in space.
The absolute demon that had allowed this to happen was standing at Shiro’s side.
“What are you doing here?” Lance snapped at Keith.
“Uh, I work here?” Keith said. “My shift just ended.”
Oh, right. He was even still wearing his Hot Topic name badge. Lance’s brain wasn’t exactly working all that great at the moment.
“Anyways,” said Keith. “I wanted you guys to meet Shiro while he was back in town for a while.”
Shiro smiled and raised his hand in a little wave. The arm was a prosthetic, Lance noted, but it didn’t detract from Shiro’s handsomeness or the aura of strength surrounding him at all.
“You must be...Hunk?” Shiro said, pointing to Hunk. He snapped his fingers in triumph when Hunk gave a nod, then pointed to Pidge. “And you’re Katie, right?”
“Call me Pidge.”
“Pidge, gotcha. Then you must be Lance. Keith’s told me so much about you.”
Lance cut Keith a nasty glare, but snapped out of his vengeful mood just a few seconds later when Shiro barked out a laugh.
“Don’t worry, he had only good things to say.”
“Don’t lie,” Keith muttered, but he didn’t argue any further as he and Shiro took a seat at the table.
Shiro sat across from Lance. He smiled when he noticed Lance staring at him, and Lance quickly averted his gaze, his face flushing red at being caught.
“I like your shirt,” Shiro said.
“Oh, uh, thanks! It’s kinda stupid, I know…”
“No, Shiro honestly loves that kind of shit,” Keith grumbled, rolling his eyes. “Show Lance that dumbass shirt you bought earlier.”
Shiro pulled out a Hot Topic bag and retrieved a white shirt from within. On the front were several kittens and a puppy in cowboy hats with the text “Wot in awwwenation” written beneath them.
“Oh my god, that is amazing,” Lance declared.
“Ugh. I knew you two would get along,” Keith muttered.
Lance found himself chatting with Shiro like an old friend after that. It turned out that Shiro liked a lot of the same things he liked, like memes and action movies, and Lance got so excited about that he forgot to keep his more embarrassing interests to himself. He cringed the minute “mecha anime” left his mouth, thinking surely that would forever seal him as a huge nerd in Shiro’s eyes, but instead Shiro lit up and began gushing about Gundam Wing.
It was so easy to talk to Shiro. Every other word out of his mouth had Lance laughing like an idiot, and Shiro seemed just as amused by the things he said. Lance was so utterly engrossed with their conversation he didn’t even realize how much time they’d spent talking.
“Shiro! Hey, Shiro, we gotta get going!”
Lance looked over to Keith and scowled.
“Come on man, we’re still talking!”
“Lance, we need to leave too. The mall’s closing in ten minutes,” said Pidge.
“Huh?”
Lance took out his cell phone and looked at the time.
“Wha--no way, it was like seven o’clock five minutes ago!”
“You guys have been nerding out nonstop for two hours,” Keith said. He gave Shiro a disapproving grimace, but Shiro just grinned and shrugged in response.
Had it really been two hours?! Had Lance actually talked with such an amazing, gorgeous guy for two straight hours and not completely humiliated himself in the process?
Keith, Pidge, and Hunk gathered their things and started to head for the door. Lance was about to follow when Shiro reached out and gently grabbed his arm to stop him.
“Hey. It was great getting to meet you, Lance.”
“You...you too!” Lance said, blushing. He felt shy again now that he wasn’t totally distracted with talking his head off.
“You mind if I get your number?”
“I uh-- yeah, yeah! Here lemme text you real quick.”
Shiro gave him his number and patiently waited for Lance to text him. Lance’s fingers shook as he swiped out a brief message, and he missed the ‘send’ icon several times before he finally managed to hit it.
“Got it,” Shiro said, lifting his phone when it buzzed. He glanced at Lance’s message and smiled before tucking his phone back in his jacket. “Hey, so I know you were just joking around earlier, but are you actually looking for someone to date at the moment?”
Lance winced. He’d all but forgotten he’d been in the middle of saying the worst pick-up line ever conceived when Shiro first approached them earlier.
“Yeah, sorta…”
“So...are you single and interested in men? Because I’d like to take you on a date some time if you are.”
On one hand, Lance wanted to crawl under the table and die. Not only did Shiro remember the awful pick-up line, he’d just repeated it nearly word-for-word.
On the other hand, holy shit.
“I! I um! Yes, I...yeah, that’s -- yes.” Lance clamped his mouth shut, fearing what nonsense would come out if he kept talking.
“Great! I’ll give you a text tomorrow and we can figure something out.”
They were both sporting flushed faces and nervous smiles as they finally followed after their friends. Lance couldn’t believe Shiro was blushing -- not nearly as much as he was, but damn if it didn’t do things to him knowing he was the cause of that pretty pink color in his cheeks.
Keith had his arms crossed and a knowing look on his face when they came out together. Beside him Pidge was smirking like a devil, and Hunk wore the same soft expression he got whenever he looked at kittens.
“Bye guys. Hope to see you again soon,” Shiro said as he and Keith headed off. Lance raised his hand in farewell, not lowering it until the pair disappeared out of sight.
“Oh my god, I can’t believe it,” Pidge said as soon as they were gone. “Lance actually got a date.”
“I’m so happy for you, buddy!” Hunk exclaimed, tugging Lance into a bear hug and squeezing the life from him before he plopped him back down. “I guess your pick-up lines are pretty good after all!”
Lance decided it was best not to argue with him on that one.
Bonus:
