The most important number in Kirby, Number Four
I've seen a pattern in the Kirby Series that not many have talked about, or at least not that I'm aware of, being a consistent number in the saga, Number 4.
From the easiest to hardest things to spot this number we have:
How you can only use four players in games like Return to Dreamland and Star Allies.
The Four Heroes of Yore and Heart Spears.
Kirby's most famous friend group, Kirby, Bandee, Dedede and Meta Knight, being Four People.
Amazing Mirror's Four Kirbys
Kirby's main knights (Meta, Dameta, Galacta and Morpho, although this may be a coincidence.)
Elfilin's Kidnapping on the Fourth World
Star Allies' Four Worlds.
Void Terminas' Four Phases in Star Allies.
Four main groups in Star Allies for each DLC.
Four main members of the Jambastion Cult
The Four Matters of Void (Heart, Soul, Darkness and Dreams)
The odd use of fourths on some final boss battles (Sectonia's Four Eye flowers in her final phases, Star Dream's four legs on the Access Arc Phase, etc
Kirby's majority of the OST being in 4/4
Four voices voicing Void Termina
Etc
Now, what Number Four means, varies on what source you ask.
In numberology, It means, Support and Stability, rooting to care about yourself and your life.
In Tarot, it means Kingship, Power and Authority.
But the one most should be familiar with, is the common one which states that Number Four is a number that represents Death and bad luck.
What do you think? Does it make sense? Am I reaching too deep? Found other sightings on the number four in the Kirby series I missed?

Kirby HC - Liar's Gold
AKA whats with all the ancient gold stuff?
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
more detailed (and sane) rambles below:
Some ancient artifacts have a gold coating. This gold is actually a type of parasitic curse.
Sometimes known as Liar's Gold, this curse was designed to punish dishonest, greedy, or power-hungry souls. The parasite will not affect those it deems "worthy".
Liar's Gold manifests when someone uses an artifact with malicious intentions, or when an artifact is used incorrectly. In ancient times, crowns and other objects of high status were made with Liar's Gold to keep away the unworthy.
Liar's Gold manifests physically - both on the inside and the outside. It wraps itself around the soul, spreading outwards like the roots of a tree.
Liar's Gold changes the host's body over time. These changes reflect their goals and aspirations - the truth that lies within them.
Hosts may have wings, horns, or ornate mutations that they did not have before. These mutations will always have a golden color.
Those afflicted with Liar's Gold will develop an unnatural (and dangerous) obsession with control.
Liar's Gold drastically increases the offensive power of its host's magic (and it grants the ability to use magic as well). It does this by forcing the host to derive magic energy from their own soul. The soul is brought outwards, and gradually it withers away.
When the host's soul completely deteriorates, the gold becomes a part of their body. As the curse progresses, the host becomes a twisted manifestation of their true self. At this point, the parasite is in complete control over the host's actions.
The only cure is to atone for one's sins.

HOLD THE FUCKING PHONE
Now pass the phone to me.
Tumblr media
GUYS.
There is no way these parallels are a coincidence.
I am 99% sure that Dana Terrace was referencing Kirby when making the Collector. For context, I've not seen For the Future yet, so please no spoilers beyond the trailer. I haven't seen anything other than Luz's palisman, that one thirty second clip from the owl club, and an irrelevant screenshot of Hunter.
Also plz don't spoil FTF in the comments or reblogs :(
That said,
TW: Discussion of Cults
Canonically,
Kirby:
god or godlike being
heavily associated with stars. As in, Hoshii no Kaabi (Kirby of the Stars)
ambiguous gender (referred to as he in American translations, gender neutral pronouns in Japanese)
rides on a star
The Collector:
god or godlike being
heavily associated with stars. "Child of the stars"
ambiguous gender, canonically a he/they
rides on a star
Still not convinced? Well I believe there was a specific game Dana was referencing: (MAJOR KIRBY SPOILERS AHEAD)
Tumblr media
In Kirby star Allies, Kirby gains the ability to turn enemies into friends by launching friend hearts on them.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
It’s an ability unlocked by a botched resurrection/rebirth of a dead god accidentally granting Kirby that ability.
No seriously, that's how it happens.
Here's a short summary for those not familiar with the Kirby franchise.
Basically, cult leader Lord Hyness and his closest followers once managed to stop an out-of-control being named Galacta Knight (shown below)
Tumblr media
However, the people eventually began to fear LH and his ilk, so they preemptively tried to seal them away and erase their existence from history (rude). LH and his people survived and managed to obtain a vessel containing their Dark Lord (basically, an egg that housed a god or godlike being) Cult leader Lord Hyness then attempted to resurrect the god Void Termina.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
But the ceremony went horrible wrong, shattering the vessel into friend hearts and dark hearts that were scattered to the stars. One such friend heart landed on Kirby, granting him the ability to quote-un-quote, "befriend" his enemies...
...
... by which I mean brainwash smaller enemies into doing his biddies while exorcising dark-heart-possessed individuals by beating the shit out of them until they were no longer usable vessels for possession. I'm not even kidding, this is actually canon.
Eventually, Kirby, with his amassed allies, confronts Belos, Hyness, who has this to say:
We are the masters of a power driven to the far reaches of the universe, and we have but one desire! Can one such as you possibly fathom how dearly we have clung to this dream across the aeons? How could you! You couldn't! Never ever ever! We who once faced those who were in such fear of our power that they sealed us away and banished us to the edge of the galaxy! US! As if THAT loveliness wasn't enough, they tried to erase our very existence from history! RUDE! Only through our magic were we able to overcome their science and achieve great prosperity! We alone were responsible for stopping that repulsive nightmare of a galactic crisis, yet this is how you repay us! This won't stand! It won't be forgiven! It won't be forgotten! Never ever EVER! Those who called us mad, are you listening? You left us at the edge of the galaxy to be forgotten, then went along your merry way, probably living somewhere pretty and peaceful! But know this! Your future is a farce! You have none! We, masters of a matter most dark, vow to be restored, as foretold in the book of legend, which everyone thought was just a fairy tale! It WASN'T! We have already obtained the vessel that contains our Dark Lord, and he will soon awaken and shower us in compassion! Look! The vessel of our Dark Lord is filling up even as we speak! Now the time for his greatness to enter our world has come! Welcome to a new history! A new age! The age of awesome! HAPPY BIRTHDAY, DARK LORD! HAPPY BIRTHDAY! Grace us, Gloriously Dark Looooooord!
And when cornered, he drains the life source of his closest followers, his priestesses, and uses them as fucking battering rams.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Oh and btw they're all conscious when this happens. If you listen closely, you can actually hear their grunts of pain when they hit the ground.
When that fails, he forces the god-resurrection to fruition by tossing in the priestesses' bodies and his own into the alter, bringing foooooRTH!!!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
VOID TERMINA.
A morally neutral being who also uses the same tactics as Kirby to defeat his enemies (except somehow Void doing it makes it evil or something *shrug*). Oh, and Void's implied to be born from the same material as Kirby (or vice versa).
Upon Void's defeat, it's said he may be reborn in another form and perhaps someday... a friend.
AND THEN THERE'S THE OWL HOUSE
In which The Collector, a god or godlike being, was sealed away by a Titan (probably because of their destructive, reckless nature - idk for sure I haven't seen the episode). As an act of revenge, the Collector made a deal with the inhabitants of the titan trapper witches: he would grant them (or more specifically Bill - not GF Bill btw) power in exchange for slaughtering the Titans. The blood of the last Titan (King) would then be used to revive The Collector from his prison.
Tumblr media
Then along comes a scrunkly dunkly old human who winds up trapped on the Boiling Isles, a realm populated by witches and demons living atop a carcus. Convinced of the inherently evil nature of the inhabitants, he deceives them into aiding him in their own execution.
Tumblr media
In order to pull this off, he enlists the help of The Collector. In exchange for promising to release them, The Collector teaches Belos magic "stronger than anybody's." That is, the Draining Spell.
Tumblr media
Belos then professes himself to be able to commune with the dead Titan (the Boiling Isles itself) and thus convinces them to brand themselves with the sigils that would serve as their metaphorical nooses.
The draining spell works, but Belos breaks his promise by using up the last of the Titan's Blood to (attempt to) travel home, only to thwarted by Luz, who traps him in the draining spell.
Meanwhile, King makes a deal with the now-betrayed Collector: stop the draining spell in exchange for their freedom and a game of "Owl House." The Collector agrees, and King follows through on his promise. Well, part of it anyway. He frees the Collector, they stop the spell, but he attempts to escape with Luz to the human realm. The Collector stops this; Luz, her friends, and unfortunately Belos manage to escape to the human realm.
There, Belos goes around possessing and consuming various woodland creatures until he has enough sustenance to possess Hunter, one of his former second-in-commands.
Tumblr media
This ultimately fails, which leads to him fleeing back to the Boiling Isles, where For the Future begins.
NOW LET'S TALLY UP OUR PARALLELS
WE GOT:
Horrifically misguided religious leader? Check.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Masked at some point? Yep.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Drains their closest followers and uses their bodies for their own gain? Yep.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Particularly brutally betrays their second in command?
OH YEAH.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Winds up sucked into that very spell themselves? Sorta.
Hyness intentionally sacrifices himself to the spell in order to resurrect Void Termina, whereas Belos is tricked by Luz into getting drained by the spell.
Not to mention we got the fuckin uhhhhh GODLIKE BEING WHO MIND CONTROLS FORCIBLY BEFRIENDS PEOPLE
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This could be Void or Kirby paralleling the Collector depending on how you read it. However, Void and Kirby are definitely two sides of the same coin, and if my interpretation is correct, I believe The Collector is meant to be a parallel of BOTH. Neither good nor evil: simply raw power put in the hands of a child too young to comprehend or manage it.
-
Now I'll admit, TOH doesn't follow the KSA story tit for tat. I believe that Titan-trappers take the role of the people who sealed away the eldritch power. The placement of Galacta Knight vs the Titan as who fits in what role is harder determine.
Despite this, there are definitely some pretty solid inspirations.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The aesthetic of FTF very clearly draws inspiration from KSA. Hell, KSA was originally released in 2018, around the time Dana was developing the series. It's very likely she drew inspiration from this video game, if not played it herself. There are simply too many parallels to count.

Hey you know how Dark Taranza looks so different from regular Taranza? What's with that? And I don't mean how he's dressed like Sectonia's wasp form, I mean his horns. Instead of the short, curved horns Taranza has, Dark Taranza has larger horns with a second curve at the ends, giving them a slight S shape.
Tumblr media
That's a considerable physical change. That we know of, the majority of mirror world residents aren't like that, aside from Dark Meta's battle damage, most other mirror worlders are just palette swaps of their counterparts. So why is Taranza different? Is it just the fact that DT spawned from the black mirror and not the dimensional mirror?
Tumblr media
The answer is I think shown in Joronia, Sectonia's original form. May I point out the differences in her horns: They are long, curved only from halfway to the ends, and go out to the sides more than both Taranzas, who have more upward pointing horns.
Tumblr media
This all leads into a small theory I have that the horns on Taranza and Sectonia's spider species indicate both sexual dimorphism and age. With angle showing biological gender and both length and curvature indicating age. The longer and more twisted the horns, the older the spider. And since their species can live for thousands of years, even a slight difference in length could signal a massive age gap.
It would explain why even though they were very close Sectonia never reciprocated Taranza's feelings, if he's that much younger than her. She likely never took it as more than a childish crush from someone she considered more a younger sibling than a potential suitor.
Tumblr media
Tumblr media
This explains Dark Taranza as well in a roundabout way, he's what Taranza thinks Sectonia wouldn't have rejected. A version of himself that's older, crueler, more elegant, and more powerful.
Tumblr media
Dark Taranza is the warped embodiment of Taranza's ideal self that the black mirror brought to physical form.
There's actually more evidence that Taranza isn't as old as we've all been thinking he is: The Star Allies guest star description directly refers to him as a "boy." There was a Miiverse post where a director stated that his voice was "designed with the image of an androgynous young spider." And in the title screen animations for Star Allies, the two girls that Taranza nervously fails to approach are Susie and Adeleine, meaning he thinks both of them would be in his age range (but he might be a bit thrown off by Adeleine's hight since humans are such looming towers (or maybe he's trying to talk to just Susie and she only happens to be with the art-girl, who knows)).
In conclusion, he's baby a snarky teen goin through it.

Why is Galacta Knight "the strongest warrior in the universe" but be beaten quite often and why is he implied to be a hero of yore if he was stated to actively destroy planets and be a threat?
Well what if...
HC time.
What if... It wasn't actually that way. What if Galacta Knight was just a good warrior and nice dude, but messed up once. What if it was propaganda and generational lies.
Here me out, maybe it was like the Ancients were looking for a reason to banish him, and this one little slip up gave them a reason. Because why would you banish the guy who's super powerful and just saved your assess? Unless you wanted to invoke fear, get rid of something more powerful than you, and gain respect.
People don't like it when stuff is more powerful than them, they really don't. But Galacta likely had the people's favor until they were all told, "yeah this guy is like a super threat and likely would kill us all, now watch me overpower him and protect you all."
Then after that you get false legends, shit like that, and you get to modern days where he's said to have been the ultimate warrior and is depicted as a planet destroyer so much that even the damn super AI thinks that's what he is.
"But why would he attack you if he was actually nice?" Well yeah, if I was betrayed and locked away for thousands, maybe even millions, of years I'd also go a bit insane.
Thank you for coming to my TED talk ramble.
(I'm not proof reading this, it's midnight)

Hey wanna hear about my Kirby headcanons/theories that makes little to no sense. OK here we go:
•Susie and magolor spend a big portion of their childhoods in halcandra, and therefore they have a sibling dynamic.
•King dedede's real name isn't dedede it is actually something with three words and it is stupidly long but all three words starts with "de", so everyone started to call him "3d" then it evolved into "Dedede" and it's been so long since anyone called him his original name that even he forgot what it was.
•Dark matter swordsman used to be a person who somehow became dark matter (and yes this is based of @desultory-novice apologies au).
•Marx and Kirby used to be friends (yes this is based of that one manga).
•Nightmare after, his own edgy op oc (that is tottaly not a copy of galacta knight), meta knight betrayed him, he created a noddy with the ears of a scarfy and launched him to popstar, in hopes that when he grew up he would join him in his evil plan, one thing that he did not calculated however that child would grow up to be Marx, aka a guy that would scam him out of everything if he ever aproched to him (and yes this is also inspired by another theory from desultory).
•After Marx learned that both him and meta knight were created by nightmare, Marx goes up to meta and call him big brother to annoy him, it happens that often meta isn't even surprised anymore, he is just like "Hi, Marx.".
•Dedede can shape shift but he doesn't know it and only ones that know how to do it are various entities that possessed/controlled him, that is why his design changes so often, they keep changing him and he has no idea how to turn back to his old form.
•In games escargoon actually tried to visit dreamland a few times, but every time he goes there, he takes one look at the sky sees the demon of the week and returns to where he came from.
•Waddle dees started to follow Dedede because they thought his name meant "Grandpa Dee".

I’M SO GLAD I GOT TO FINISH THE MAGOLOR EPILOGUE BECAUSE HOLY-
SPOILERS - FRESH OFF THE PRESS THEORIES - LONG POST
Okay so I already guessed the final battle would either be Morpho Knight because Magolor messed up big time and kind of died? Or the Master Crown in some form.... I was not prepared for what that second idea would even mean, and I have to say now the Master Crown is one of the coolest looking bosses I’ve ever seen. It’s like if Whispy Woods was designed to be the final boss (and because Whispy is skipped in the Epilogue that’s probably intentional!)
But as cool as it was, it wasn’t a twist per se. No, the twist was the game lowkey implying the Kirby Clash games are canon, or at the very least canon to the epilogue??? I’m pretty loose with what non-canon material I tie into my headcanons or theories, but I kind of left Clash to the side and immediately my mind started racing with what that teaser at the end means.
Because Magolor is holding a gem apple sapling in the last moments of the Epilogue, which we know now is where the tree in the game comes from, and those apples are PIECES OF THE MASTER CROWN. And he’s cultivating them in another dimension as currency? I’m not saying he’s planning a super evil apple empire but it might imply the apples are like a safer power boost being remnants of the crown? Or just bombs, like we see in Star Allies lol. Still, that’s a bit freaky to find out now.
And it gets better because Clash clearly takes place in another timeline, or dimension, and this honestly makes way more since now! Magolor traveled to that version of time and made himself a little business, and it’s probably exactly what he did to make Merry Magoland, and why it’s said to be in a ”different world in a different time”. It’s either in the Clash universe or another one he’s traveled to, and Magolor gives Kirby and co. the interdimensional car keys as an apology.
I always thought after RTDL, Magolor would eventually make amends in his own, Magolor way, and be hanging around with the park in Dream Land, but it makes so much more sense he pops in and out, running different businesses in different dimensions. Definitely makes it less awkward if he’s not Kirby’s neighbor, and this also makes our ability to summon him whenever in Star Allies so much funnier.
The story implications here are a bit wild, like the fact Magolor might have met an alternate Taranza before the main cast? Or visited the Parallel Dimension? I’ve got to do more research first, so take all these initial thoughts with a grain of salt, but speaking of Taranza…
Okay so there’s a portrait of Magolor in that one room in Triple Deluxe, we know it, we talk about it. I still don’t think it’s a big deal lore wise, but here me out here on something I realized. Did anyone else think the apple design was a bit… familiar? And it’s ability to both grow a large plant, and grant a lot of power?

Kirby Color Theory
Buckle up, because this may be a long one:
This theory mainly concerns the roles of red and blue in the Kirby universe.
Tumblr media
Red is death,
Tumblr media
and blue is life.
Tumblr media
Red is the corruption of the soul,
Tumblr media
but blue is the purity that remains inside.
Tumblr media
Red is possession,
Tumblr media
but blue is lucidity.
Tumblr media
Red is darkness,
Tumblr media
and blue is light.
But not all things conform to this system. Maybe they aren’t a part of it altogether. Or maybe they’re stuck in between.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Purple is instability. The soul isn’t fully “good” nor “evil.”
Tumblr media
But, of course, it can reach a resolution. It can find a place in the system where it aligns.
Tumblr media
...or it could stay as a mishmash of red and blue forever.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
White is another curious case.
White is also a non-conforming color, but not in the same way as purple. While purple is instability, white is indecision. The soul’s alignment is undeveloped and must find a place to belong.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Dark blue is a subset of regular blue. Dark blue represents detachment from evil.
The proportions of good and evil depend on the shade. A near-black blue is still an evil color - but something must be holding that soul back from being fully invested in its alignment.
Still there? Okay. More color theory.
Tumblr media
Green can mean forgiveness. A soul seeking its own resolution outside of the red-blue scale.
Tumblr media
Green could also mean a passive opposition to a soul’s alignment. A soul has been forced into an alignment, but their true beliefs lie elsewhere.
Possession does not count, since that would be an active resistance against the forced alignment. Possessed individuals carry the alignment of someone else, not themselves.
But another thing that green represents is regret.
Tumblr media
It is the regret for past actions, but it is also the light at the end of the tunnel.
Yellow and gold represent control.
Tumblr media
Galaxia, despite its red gemstone, can be controlled as a force of good.
Tumblr media
But the Master Crown IS the controller, using those with evil hearts as its puppet.
Yellow can also mean change - specifically, a change in one’s alignment.
Yellow is the color of evil-to-good, as seen with Dedede’s robes and Taranza’s cape.
But gold is the color of good-to-evil, and it’s almost always a forced, physical change. Essentially, it’s a punishment. It is justice served to the wicked.
Gold seems to manifest itself physically in those that are corrupted by it.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Like Sectonia’s wings,
Tumblr media Tumblr media
the Master Crown’s “talons,”
Tumblr media Tumblr media
and Marx’s wings (though it’s unknown whether they came from Nova or not...).
Tumblr media
Even Nightmare has his necklace and crown.
Tumblr media
And the hilt of Morpho Knight’s sword (as well as the particles of their butterfly form) is yellow/gold.
And the blade is red. And it has two blue gems on it.
One is a darker blue, while the other is a lighter blue-green.
It basically combines all of the alignment colors into one object!
in conclusion
